How to lay vinyl tile on the floor. Vinyl floor care

The method of installation of a vinyl covering depends on its type, which determines the shape and design of the floor elements. Polyvinyl chloride products intended for floor cladding are rolled materials with a web width of 2-2.5 m; tiles 300x600 mm, having a self-adhesive base or a lock joint; laminated modules with dimensions of 100x920 or 180x920 mm.

In turn, the above products have various designs fastening to the base and to each other:

  • Covers with a lock. They consist of elements that are joined to each other according to the tongue and groove system. This allows them to be installed at high speed. Tiles and laminated modules are equipped with locks. Their laying requires an absolutely even subfloor.
  • Self-adhesive coatings. Their elements are tiles that have an adhesive layer on the back side, protected before laying the material with a special film. The requirements for the base surface here are not as categorical as in the previous case. It may be relatively even, but not loose.
  • Adhesive coatings. This is a regular vinyl tile and roll material. For their fastening to the floor, a special adhesive recommended by the manufacturer of the PVC coating is used. Other adhesive compositions should not be used, since the reliability of fixing the coating to the base surface in this case is not guaranteed.

Preparatory work before installing a vinyl floor

A quality vinyl floor installation requires a clean, dry and level surface. Polyvinyl chloride does not allow moisture to pass from the ceiling. Therefore, if it does not dry sufficiently before facing, water vapor will condense in the closed space between the base and the finishing material, destroying the adhesive layer that fixes the coating. This will inevitably lead to its peeling.

Permissible moisture content of the base must not exceed 5%. It can be accurately determined with a hygrometer or approximately in some other way. It is as follows. On the surface of the floor you need to fix a piece with tape polyethylene film and leave it for a day. If after this time there are no drops of condensate under the film, the moisture content of the substrate is normal and it is suitable for cladding. Otherwise, it should be dried.

Leveling the floor surface must be done especially carefully if the technology of laying the vinyl coating requires gluing it to the base. With a significant curvature of the surface, use cement-sand screed on lighthouses, with small differences in the base in height - self-leveling liquid mixtures. Snap-in vinyl coverings that do not need to be glued can even be installed on old finish floors. The processing of the base in such cases is often reduced only to sealing its deep cracks.

After cleaning the floor from dust, debris and applying a leveling screed, it must be left to dry, and then treated with a primer to ensure future adhesion of the coating adhesive to the base. A primer is not necessary before installing the interlocking vinyl.

For successful laying of vinyl flooring on the floor, the air temperature in the room should be 15-25 degrees Celsius, and humidity should not exceed 60%. Before installation, the coating must be adapted to the new location. From the moment it is brought into the room until it is unpacked, it should take from 24 to 48 hours, depending on the time of year.

To mark the floor before facing, you will need a tape measure, a paint cord and a pencil. For cutting vinyl modules or canvases at their junctions with walls or outlets engineering communications you will need a construction knife and a metal square. If the material will be attached to the base with glue, stock up on a spatula, a rubber roller and a sponge.

Vinyl floor installation technology

As mentioned above, vinyl flooring materials are available in the form of laminated modules, tiles and rolls. Consider the order of their installation separately.

Laying vinyl tiles on the floor

Before its installation, it is necessary to remove the old coating, concrete sagging on the surface, protruding reinforcement, and then level, dry and prime the base. Further work is performed as follows.

Laying vinyl tiles is carried out from the center of the room to the walls. Therefore, it should be determined using the markup, which will consist of two intersecting lines. If the tiles will be laid perpendicular to the sides of the floor, you should find the midpoints of the walls located opposite each other and connect their marks with straight lines along the base. From the point of their intersection, you need to start installing the tiles. In this case, the floor will be divided into 4 equal rectangular sections. Lines can be drawn on it with a masking cord.

In the case of diagonal tiling, the center of the floor is determined by drawing on it two lines connecting opposite corners of the room. The result of this marking will be four triangular sections of the floor. In both cases, the facing of each part must be started in turn.

To install a self-adhesive vinyl floor, remove the tiles from the back protective film and immediately attach the product to the base along its marking line. When laying the remaining tiles, they should be tightly combined along the side faces. After facing the first section of the floor, you can proceed to the next, acting in the same way.

For cladding adjoining floor coverings to walls and other obstacles, tiles should be pre-prepared by cutting them to the appropriate dimensions. The rest of the work is done in the usual way. To complete the laying of the material, it is necessary to roll its outer surface with a rubber roller, this increases the adhesion force of the tile to the base.

Tiles that require glue to fix are also easy to install. Before work, you should study the instructions for preparing a binder solution on acrylic base. Its consumption usually does not exceed 0.5 kg/m 2 . Too much glue "in reserve" is not advisable to harvest. This will lead to its unjustified overspending, the excess may appear as bumps on the tile and they will have to be removed anyway.

The adhesive mixture should be applied to the floor area to be covered with a notched trowel. Cover with glue immediately large area the surface should not be, as it can quickly thicken, and then it will not be possible to glue the tiles with high quality. The position of the glued products can be corrected within 15-20 minutes.

After laying the vinyl floor tiles, the surface of the finished flooring must be rolled in all directions with a rubber roller. Excess adhesive that appears at the joints of the tiles should be removed with a clean, dry cloth. The frozen composition is removed with a rag and ethyl alcohol.

After 30-40 minutes, you need to once again process the coating with a roller. In this case, each element of the cladding should be inspected for adhesion to the base surface, Special attention it is recommended to draw on the corners of the glued tiles.

To give the products the desired shape or fit them to the required dimensions, the material must first be marked. After that, the line must be cut to half the thickness of the tile, bend the product, and then completely separate the selected part with a sharp knife.

Wet cleaning of the coating, composed of adhesive modules, can be done no earlier than 5 days after completion of work. Arrangement of furniture is allowed after two days.

How to lay rolled vinyl material on the floor

Before laying it, it is required to remove protruding nails, rebar outlets and debris from the floor surface. After that, you need to clean the floor of dirt and dust with water and a rag, and then dry it.

Next, you should measure the length of the longitudinal walls with a tape measure and, in accordance with its value, cut the roll of vinyl coating into separate canvases. The geometric shape of the room may not be ideal, so it is advisable to take the length of the canvases a little longer than necessary.

All strips must be laid out dry throughout the floor and adjusted to the size of the room, cutting off excess from the canvases on the ledges outside corners walls and other junctions.

To stick vinyl strips on the floor, you will need a special adhesive designed specifically for such material. Any universal compositions are not suitable. The adhesive should be prepared according to the instructions given by the manufacturer of the vinyl flooring.

After that, the canvas must be wrapped from the wall to its middle. On the freed area of the floor, evenly apply a layer of glue with a spatula. Then the wrapped half of the web must be returned to its original position on the area treated with glue. Using uniform pressure with your hands, it is recommended to press the canvas to the surface until it is fixed.

A similar procedure should be done with the second half of the canvas. All other strips of vinyl covering are attached to the base in the same way. Possible adhesive stains or other surface contamination can be removed with a cloth and some suitable solvent.

After the installation of the vinyl floor from rolled material is completed, it is necessary to roll it with a roller to securely fasten it to the base and smooth out small irregularities.

Installation of vinyl laminated modules

Laminated vinyl modules can be interlocked and adhesive mount to the base. Laminate, which is laid without gluing to the base using the so-called "floating floor" technology, does not require careful leveling. It is enough to fill only deep cracks on the base surface with putty. Her allowable differences in this case, they can be up to 3 mm per square meter of area.

Laminated modules of some types of material can even be laid on the old finish. In any case, the base must be cleaned of debris and dust, since all this can get on the adhesive lock of the product during its installation.

Laying vinyl panels with locks is done very quickly and does not require preliminary marking of the base. It starts from the farthest wall of the room from one of its corners. Here, the first modules are attached to the floor between themselves, with which its entire surface is then gradually filled. Laying the vinyl floor is carried out towards the exit from the room.

For mounting adhesive vinyl laminate base marking is required. It is performed in the same way as in the case of vinyl tiles, described above. After splitting the floor with axial lines into 4 sections, the laying of modules should begin with the one that is most distant from front door. The first panels are mounted from the center of the room.

The adhesive must be applied to the base with a notched trowel. When the layer dries a little, you can lay vinyl panels on it. In the process of work, it is necessary to pay special attention to the edges and corners of the modules. Their joining should be even, and the fit to the base should be tight.

All excess adhesive from the surface of the panels, which has come through the seams, must be removed with a soap solution and a clean rag. Wet cleaning of the new floor can be done no earlier than a day after the installation of the coating is completed, and interior items and furniture can be brought into the room no earlier than two.

During this time, the adhesive under vinyl coated completely harden and gain the necessary strength. It is waterproof, so this composition can be safely used for the installation of a vinyl floor in the bathroom. Self-adhesive laminate does not require such precautions. The coating can be used immediately after its installation.

Care instructions for vinyl flooring

During the entire period of operation, the laid coating must be able to properly care for. To prevent a lot of dirt and sand from getting on it, which contribute to premature abrasion of the floor, it is recommended to lay rugs near the entrance that can absorb abrasive particles of debris.

Vinyl tile should be washed with neutral detergents, which should not contain ammonia and bleach. For such coatings, there are special cleaning agents. Use household chemicals for washing dishes, various washing powders and soaps for removing food stains on the floor are not recommended.

The best cleaning option for kitchen vinyl floors, for example, is biodegradable. They leave no residue and do not require rinsing with water. The same products are recommended for removing streaks on vinyl flooring.

After graduation wet cleaning the floor must be wiped with a dry cloth. Polishing machines are used to clean heavily soiled vinyl surfaces.

If you can’t cope with the care of the coating on your own, you can consult the seller or carefully study the manufacturer’s instructions for this product. Good luck with your work!

Choosing a floor covering is a difficult task. It must be reliable, wear-resistant, beautiful, non-slip, durable. It is also desirable that it is easy to fit. All these conditions are met by PVC floor tiles.

What is PVC (vinyl) floor tiles

Not so long ago, another type of PVC coating appeared on the market - vinyl tile. She is somewhat similar to good linoleum(hence another name - linoleum), but the production technology is different, as is the form of release. This material is cut into rectangles or squares, it can be with or without an adhesive base. It has more than one name - LVT tile (LVT) - abbreviation English name Luxury Vinyl Tile. Design or art tiles - this is also understandable - author's floor coverings are created from squares or rectangles.

The release form turned out to be so convenient that it quickly conquers the market. It is easier to fit, more economical. Not in terms of price - it is just high (at the level of commercial class linoleum), but in the sense that there is a minimum of scraps - much less than when using linoleum. In this, and in excellent performance characteristics and is the secret of its growing popularity.

PVC floor tile consists of vinyl and resin, to which stabilizers, plasticizers, and sometimes fillers are added (to give specific properties or a special appearance). The heated mixture is pressed. The resulting material is different high density, but remains flexible and ductile.

PVC tile consists of several layers:

According to the composition, there are two types of linoleum tiles: vinyl and quartz vinyl (vinyl quartz). The second option is more expensive, but also more dense, with increased wear resistance.

Species and varieties

According to the installation method, there is a PVC floor tile on a self-adhesive basis, there is a regular one (glue is required for installation of the second type). Finishing material for this type of floor, it is glued end-to-end on a flat, clean base. With this method of installation, the floor covering forms a monolith with the base.

There are tiles with locks - mechanical and adhesive. The elements are interconnected using these locks, and the coating itself is obtained unrelated to the base. This option is called a "floating" floor.

Like linoleum, PVC floor tiles are classified according to the degree of load:

In any of the classes, the choice of color and texture is very wide. There is an imitation of natural materials - wood, various types of stone, etc., there are plain ones, with and without decorative additives. The most common rectangular shape, and with different lengths sides, there are squares. Rectangles are most often made "under the tree", imitate parquet or wooden floor, but squares are more often plain. They collect interesting panels.

When choosing at the same time as the class, you need to look at the thickness protective coating. The thicker it is, the more durable the coating will be. Optimal choice for houses and apartments - the thickness of the tile is 3 mm, the thickness of the protective layer is 0.3 mm.

Advantages and disadvantages

We have collected the main properties of vinyl floor tiles from the reviews of the owners (and hostesses) of such a floor covering. She has many advantages:

By and large, almost everyone unanimously declares that PVC floor tiles are the best they have had so far. Moreover, “before” there were laminate, linoleum, ceramic tiles, someone even had parquet. Disadvantages were also collected from reviews. There weren't many of them:

As you can see, it's really a good option. Suitable for any premises - technical, residential, difficult conditions operation.

Laying

Actually laying vinyl tiles is not very difficult process but requires precision. Pay special attention to laying the first two rows, on which all the rest then rely. There is also a difference in the technique of gluing vinyl tiles with glue, laying self-adhesive or with locks. But there is also General requirements. Let's consider all the questions in more detail.

What tools are needed

To work, you will need a decent set of tools, but they are all inexpensive, many are on the farm. So, you will need:

It would also be nice to have a building hair dryer. In difficult places - when bypassing pipes - it is more convenient to cut the tile when it is heated. Then it's no more difficult than cutting household linoleum. And you can only warm it up. building hair dryer. You cut the heated tile, wrap it around the pipe, cut off the excess.

How to cut pvc tiles

Although linoleum tiles are dense, they are easy to cut in a straight line. If you need a cut that won't meet the edge of the tile, it's easier to work with. Pass the blade along the front side with force, bend it at the cut point, cut the rest with a knife along the fold line.

If the cut needs to be even - to join with the next tile, you will need a ruler on adhesive tape - so that it does not move. In this case, you will have to cut through everything from the front side. This cannot be done at one time, but since the ruler will not move, it will be possible to draw with the blade two or three times.

Foundation preparation

You can lay vinyl tiles on the floor yourself. It is only important that the base is properly prepared. It should be smooth, clean, dry and hard. PVC floor tiles can be laid on concrete, any type of screed, plywood, fiberboard, OBP, GVL and other similar materials.

With a concrete floor and screed there is one caveat. The screed from the DSP is too loose and not rigid enough. Under vinyl tiles, it is better to level it with a self-levelling mixture on plaster base. It is not difficult and not very expensive, but the result will be excellent.

Permissible deviation when laying PVC tiles - 2 mm per meter

When laying vinyl tiles on a wooden floor, it is leveled with plywood 12-15 mm thick. You can use GVL or OSB. All fasteners must be recessed, the holes are puttied. The joints between the sheets are also puttied (do not forget to lay the plates in a run-up and leave seams of 2-3 mm - for compensation thermal expansion). For puttying joints, it is better to use acrylic putty - it is more elastic and smooth, adhesive tiles adhere better to it. In general, it is better to lay not adhesive tiles on wooden floors, but floating tiles with locks of any type (mechanical or adhesive). There is less chance that the coating will swell somewhere due to the difference in the amount of thermal expansion.

The last step in preparing the base is impregnation suitable soil. The base will become even stronger, the absorbency will decrease and even out, and the consumption of glue will decrease.

It is also very important that the base is dry. Its humidity should not exceed 5%. It is measured with special device, but in household he is not. So you have to do with improvised means. We take a piece of polyethylene without holes and masking tape. We tightly glue the polyethylene with adhesive tape to the base (along the edge in several layers) and leave it for a day. After a day, peel off and feel from the inside. If there is no condensation, everything is fine - the floor is dry enough to start laying PVC tiles.

Ways of laying and marking

If the laying of PVC tiles will be done by hand and you use "boards" that imitate wood, experience with similar material no, it's better to start with the simplest circuit- with offset. For this method of laying, it is better if the offset is arbitrary - no joints are visible. When using this scheme, it is only important that the joints of the "boards" are spaced at least 15 cm apart. This laying method is also economical - a cut piece from the last element in a row can serve as a starting plate in the next (or after one, if the joint is closer than after 15 cm). Other common offset options are 1/3 and 1/2 board lengths. In this case, the pattern is more regular and the joints stand out more.

With this layout method, the planks are usually placed along long wall premises. When using lockless PVC tiles, the layout starts from the middle. To determine the location starting strip find the middle of the room. Then a line is drawn through it, parallel to the walls. Do this with a paint cord or a ruler and a pencil. This line is guided when laying the first two rows of vinyl tiles, combining the edges of the tiles with it. With other layout methods, everything is more difficult - you have to calculate, draw, and this is not so simple.

Adhesive for vinyl tiles

Glue is used special - for gluing PVC coatings. There are two types of compositions: glue and fixation. Everyone knows what glue is, but so far, few are aware of fixations. This composition differs in that it does not dry to a solid state. When it dries, a sticky substance remains on the surface, similar to the one that is on the adhesive tape. This method is good in that the glued coating can be peeled off several times. In this, it is also similar to the sticky composition of scotch tape. PVC tiles are peeled off on fixation without difficulty, and even after a considerable period of time (several years or decades). At the same time, it will not be possible to move the coating planted on fixation: lateral displacements are excluded. It comes off only if you pull the edge of the tile up.

It doesn't matter what type of adhesive you choose. It is important that it is suitable for gluing PVC coatings, and not expired.

Laying pvc tiles on glue

The adhesive is applied in an even layer on a dry and clean substrate along the strip drawn on the floor. The width of the adhesive strip is for laying two tiles, if they are long and narrow, the length is to the end of the room. Applying glue, it is distributed with a spatula with a fine tooth. There should be no bald spots or puddles. It is necessary to achieve an even distribution. If, according to the instructions for the glue, it must be given time to dry - we wait. If not, you can put it right away.

We put the first row, aligning one edge strictly along the drawn line. When applying glue, try not to lubricate it, otherwise you can lay it crooked. They laid the first tile, ironed it with their hands, expelling air from under the material. We step on the laid tile with our foot, put the next one, tightly adjusting the joint. Glue a piece of masking tape about 10 cm long to the newly laid plank. Glue about half of the tile to be laid, pull it tightly to the laid one and fix the adhesive tape. So the tile has no chance to move. Having fixed it, we iron it, expelling the air. We repeat with the next one. When laying the second row, we also fix it from the sides using 3 strips of adhesive tape.

Having laid two rows, we take a pressure bar and rub the laid coating well with it. So we expel the air completely. According to the technology, it is necessary to use a pressure roller weighing 50 kg, with which a freshly laid coating is rolled. At home, it is not there, you have to get by with a replacement. There is another way to glue linoleum tiles well: after laying, tap it well with a rubber mallet.

Why do I need fixation with adhesive tape, because it is rarely used? So that the already laid tiles do not move, and this is possible, since the period of complete drying of the glue is 72 hours.

Self-adhesive

Self-adhesive PVC floor tiles are also mounted. The difference is that you don't need to apply glue. Remove tiles before installation protective layer, lay the tiles in place, smooth. The rest of the procedure is the same.

In this case, the strips do not need to be fixed with adhesive tape, since the substance on the wrong side is sticky enough to keep the coating from shifting immediately after gluing. Important nuance- you must first press the tiles to the side surface, holding the bar in weight. When the edge is docked, gradually lower the cover, trying to leave as little air as possible.

Laying pvc tiles with a lock

The lock on vinyl tiles can be mechanical and adhesive. The difference is only in the principle of fixation. The rest of the rules are the same.

The main difference is that the laying of the castle vinyl tiles starts from the wall. The slats are arranged so that the locks "look" into the room. The first row is laid back from the wall a few millimeters - to compensate for thermal expansion. This gap can be provided by installing pieces of material of suitable thickness or by finding thick crosses for tiles.

When laying PVC tiles with an adhesive lock, you must first join the end, combining the edges of the planks. Then the lock is joined along the long side and, only after that, the slats are already lowered completely. The edges are ironed, checking the tightness of the entry of the mechanical lock.

The following video shows how PVC tiles are laid on the floor with mechanical lock. Usually, the material comes with instructions with pictures, but watching the video is also useful.

The process of laying vinyl tiles with a self-adhesive lock is shown in this video. The connection is no less reliable, and the assembly of the cover is even easier.

To date, there are many new products among floor coverings, one of the most popular is self-adhesive vinyl floor tiles. To find out why she owns a leading position, we suggest considering the features of self-adhesive vinyl tiles.

This material is suitable for floors in high traffic areas. It could be like private apartment as well as the production shop.

Self-adhesive types of tiles are easy to install, high tightness and high sound insulation. And the ability to retain heat well makes vinyl tile more in demand than its ceramic counterpart.

Now let's see what this material consists of.

Composition and form:

  • polyvinyl chloride (PVC) (base structure).
  • quartz sand;
  • plasticizers;
  • stabilizers;
  • resins;
  • fillers to increase inertness.
  • All components are thoroughly mixed and then pressed under high temperature. Due to the presence of quartz sand in the composition, this material is also called quartz vinyl tiles.

    It should be noted that the finished product has several layers:

  1. polyurethane;
  2. transparent PVC layer;
  3. picture;
  4. polyvinyl chloride mixed with quartz sand and forming the basis of the product;
  5. self-adhesive film.

The layers are laid in a thickness of 1 to 4 mm. The form is usually observed either in the form of a square with an area of 300 or 600, or in the form of a parquet.

Division into classes

Depending on how actively PVC floor tiles will be used, it has the following classification.

  • 23-31. This is decorative class with a very elegant look. Requires a careful attitude.
  • 33-42. Used in shops, offices, educational institutions. It is a commercial product in demand.
  • 43. Special durable coating vinyl. The thickness of such a tile can reach 4 mm. It is strengthened by special additives, making the surface anti-slip and antistatic. Used in gyms and dance clubs.

Advantages

The main concept of vinyl laminate and tiles is modularity, which allows you to combine several types of patterns at once and get a unique result.

  • Strength. Defined by the above classes. The higher the class, the higher the strength index.
  • Impact resistance. Does not break or crack, unlike models made of ceramics.
  • Acceptable price.
  • Availability of self-adhesive models.
  • Preservation. Appearance does not change during the specified period of operation.
  • Ease of care. You can wash and clean such a coating using any chemical means.
  • Increased moisture resistance. Doesn't absorb water at all.
  • Ecological purity. Despite the artificial components, it does not have any harmful secretions, it can even be used in.
  • Little weight.
  • Ease of installation. Installing vinyl floor tiles is not difficult.
  • Possibility partial replacement. In case of damage, you do not have to change the entire coating, it is enough to replace the damaged part.
  • Wide range of.

The ability to apply any pattern on the flooring allows you to create an imitation of any surface, from a sandy shore to a forest clearing.

Thus, such material collects best qualities other types: the beauty of parquet, the practicality of linoleum and the modularity of tiles.

Features of individual brands

Vinyl tiles Tarkett (Tarkett Art Vinyl), for example, has a number of additional advantages.

  • Another layer of polyurethane protection. Levels the surface and prevents the ingress of dirt.
  • The presence of fiberglass. Prevents stretching of the product and enhances strength.
  • More high ability imitation of natural materials. Wood, granite or sea surface - everything will look more natural.

Thus, Tarkett vinyl tile is a durable and protected material, which is guaranteed for 15 years. The cheapest types with a low load class can be found on sale from 550 rubles.

Also, when choosing, you should pay attention to Vinyl - PVC flooring from a Belgian company. They are not inferior in quality to Tarkett and give a guarantee of 25 years.

Vinilam modular quartz-vinyl coating has a high-quality texture that imitates very well natural materials. The price per square meter starts from 1380 rubles.

Floor laying

Vinyl flooring is really easy to install. The main thing is to properly prepare the floor, making it smooth and clean.

During laying, the temperature in the room must be above 15°C, the relative humidity of the air must be less than 60%. You also need to finish all the work on and doors and complete all Finishing work.
The coating must lie indoors for several days to adapt to temperature and humidity, otherwise it may change its dimensions. Also, you can not unpack it immediately after bringing it home with cold temperature, the material may crack.

Laying vinyl floor tiles has the following steps:

  • First, prepare and, if necessary, degrease an even and dry base. If the floor is initially curved, digestion is carried out using a screed or self-leveling mixture. Small height differences up to 3 mm for every 2 m are allowed.
  • In one room, it is desirable to use materials from the same batch, which is indicated on the package, so that the color is the same.
  • Do not install vinyl flooring over existing linoleum, laminate, painted floors, hardboard, chipboard, plywood, or any other substrate that is subject to dimensional change due to temperature and humidity.
  • If there is no hygrometer to change the moisture level of concrete, you can check it in another way. To do this, cut off a piece of plastic film 1 * 1 m and glue it with adhesive tape along the edges to the floor for a day. If on inside polyethylene, condensation will appear, which means that such a base is not suitable for laying.

  • Immediately before laying, the surface is dedusted and treated with a primer to increase adhesion.
  • The first stage of laying is to determine the center of the room. Unlike ordinary ceramic tiles, PVC counterparts are laid from the center of the room. To mark it, you need to measure the length and width of the room, divide them into two and draw two perpendicular lines through the center, as shown in the picture.
  • The first tile is laid, starting from the center, in a sector more distant from the entrance. Installation can take place “layer by layer”, like a conventional laminate, or by the pyramid method. In the first case, the rows are laid alternately, and in the second, full rows are first made up, and then the rest of the tiles are adjusted to them.
  • Vinyl flooring can also be laid side by side, butt to butt, diagonally. Offset tiles are usually done when laying views rectangular shape imitating a tree. square tiles under ceramics stack without displacement of seams.
  • Diagonal laying requires additional floor markings. For this, two diagonal lines through the center of the room. Also, instead, you can simply lay the first tile with corners at the intersection of the primary marking in the center of the floor. This method of laying is more difficult, will require large expenses, but the result will be spectacular.
  • Laying self-adhesive vinyl tiles is very easy. To do this, just remove the protective film from the bottom and press the tiles to the floor with your hands, like a regular sticker. The resulting air bubbles are squeezed out.
  • If models with Click locks are purchased, then the use of glue for installation is not provided here. Such panels are joined like a conventional laminate - the locks are inserted at an angle and lowered.
  • It will be more difficult to install ordinary PVC tiles, without a self-adhesive layer and locks. Usually these are quartz vinyl types and some pressed models. Their packaging indicates which glue to use is best. Dispersion types of glue are applied only to the base, and contact types - both to the base and to back side tiles. Most often, acrylic dispersion adhesive is suitable, its consumption is approximately 250-350 g / sq. m.
  • Glue is applied small areas using a notched trowel and press the tiles to the floor. To securely fix it, this is done evenly with a rubber mallet or roller. You can not use a dried layer of glue, so it is not applied immediately to a large area.
  • To simplify the selection of a pattern, special arrows are drawn on the reverse side of the tiles, which set the direction of the pattern. When laying, they should be directed in one direction.
  • Before laying the last row against the wall, measure the remaining width and cut the appropriate tile with a regular knife. At the same time, it is important to leave temperature gap 5-10 mm near all walls, pipes, doors. The plinth will hide it.
  • After about 1-2 days, the adhesive will dry and you can use the new floor covering.

This video will help to study the process of installing a modular PVC coating:

To have beautiful and reliable floors, it is enough to purchase vinyl floor tiles. Tarkett Art Vinyl flooring is durable and suitable for installation on long time. By choosing self-adhesive products, you can greatly simplify the installation process.

Today, vinyl flooring is very popular, as it is strong, reliable and durable. Laying PVC tiles can be done by hand, this does not require special skills and tools, it is enough to study the technology of the installation process and follow the sequence of all its stages.

Classification of vinyl tiles is carried out according to two main features:

According to the manufacturing method:

  • quartz vinyl tiles contains in its composition 80% quartz sand, which makes the material much stronger and more resistant to various mechanical influences. It is also waterproof, non-electrostatic and acid resistant.

The production of quartz vinyl tiles is carried out by pressing the constituent components at high temperatures, so that they are evenly distributed inside the material. For additional strength of the coating, it is opened with polyurethane.

  • pressed PVC tiles also consists of several layers. It can have from 5 to 9 layers. Its main components are vinyl, resin, plasticizers and stabilizers. The production of this coating is carried out similarly to quartz vinyl tiles, by pressing the components at high temperature.

According to its technological characteristics, it is much better than linoleum. It is durable, waterproof and has good resistance to adverse factors.

Mounting method:

All of the above species are divided into subspecies according to the following criteria:

Color and texture design:

  • PVC panels - imitating tiles or the color of natural stone;
  • tiles in the color of wood - panels of this variety look like laminate, parquet having the size and shape of its lamellas;
  • with a glossy surface;
  • with a matte surface;
  • slightly rough surface.

By form:

  • square;
  • triangular;
  • rectangular.

Due to the wide variety of shapes, original and unusual patterns are created.

Tools for laying vinyl tiles

Before you start laying the coating, you need to prepare a tool, which includes:

  • roulette;
  • pencil;
  • marking cord;
  • putty knife;
  • rubber hammer;
  • construction knife;
  • rubber roller.

For laying vinyl tiles adhesive method acrylic adhesive is used. The calculation of its quantity depends on the area of the surface to be glued.

On the package adhesive solution instructions for its use are provided.

Do-it-yourself vinyl tile laying step by step

The method of laying and the stages of the installation process depend on the type of vinyl coating chosen. But any of them is performed on an even and clean basis.

Preparation of the rough base

Preparation of the base involves cleaning it, removing all kinds of stains from grease, paint, oils, as well as eliminating defects, expressed in cracks, chips and grooves. The process of leveling and cleaning the floor is carried out in the following sequence:

Laying vinyl tiles should be carried out at a temperature of 18–24 degrees and slight humidity in the room. An important indicator also is the relative humidity of the concrete base, not exceeding 0.05% according to the hygrometer. In case of deviations with laying, you need to wait until the floor is completely dry.

Methods and step-by-step instructions for laying PVC tiles

Laying PVC tiles is done in two ways:

Adhesive vinyl tile installation

Installation of PVC tiles is carried out from the center of the room according to the previously made markings. When using self-adhesive panels, it is not necessary to make markings and laying can be done from the corner located near the wall next to the window.

Markup technology:

It is not advisable to use chalk for marking, since its use leaves dust, which can affect the quality of gluing the panels, especially when using self-adhesive tiles.

Adhesive technology:

Laying PVC panels:

Laying PVC panels with a lock connection

This method of laying the coating has several advantages:

  • no glue needed;
  • in the event of defects, only one of the panels can be replaced without damaging the neighboring ones;
  • for laying vinyl tiles lock connection thorn-groove, it is not necessary to make markings.

Step by step installation instructions:

The remaining segment can be used to start laying the second row, only on condition that it is at least 1/3 of the tile.

The process of laying vinyl flooring is quite simple, but it has some nuances. So, to get a quality result, you need to listen to the advice of experts:

  • When laying snap-joint vinyl flooring in rooms with high humidity, it is recommended to seal the interpanel joints using cold welding.
  • An underlayment can be used under a tile with a key joint to enhance the thermal insulation qualities.
  • An alcohol solution should be used to remove adhesive residue from the surface of the coating.
  • If traces of dried adhesive remain on the surface of the coating, they can be removed with a solvent.
  • To create an original pattern, you can combine different shapes and colors of the panels.
  • In the absence of a hygrometer, humidity draft foundation can be determined using a two or three liter jar. To do this, turn it upside down, putting it on the floor screed, and leave it for 12 hours. If after this time condensation has formed on the walls of the can, you need to wait a little while laying the vinyl tiles. Since laying the coating on a damp floor, mold and fungus may appear on it.

Video: Vinyl tile laying technology

Summing up, we can say that laying vinyl tiles can be done different ways, depending on the chosen type of coverage. Vinyl tiles are classified according to two main features, this is the manufacturing technology and the method of attaching it to the floor. When installing tiles with your own hands, in order to obtain a high-quality result, it is necessary to follow the technology and sequence of all stages of laying.

Vinyl tile is incredibly popular today. It is bought for arranging the floor in rooms of different directions. Thanks to high level durability, this flooring fits perfectly into the interior of such public places like airports, train stations, schools and hospitals. Vinyl tiles are great for renovation too. style decision residential building. The most visited rooms, in particular the kitchen, living room and bathroom will look brighter thanks to the vinyl covering. Well, do you already know where to buy vinyl tiles? Then our step-by-step instruction on its laying will become your indispensable assistant!

Vinyl tile installation

It is no secret that the flooring looks beautiful only if it is installed correctly from a technological position. This article provides recommendations for correct styling vinyl tiles. Installation of vinyl flooring simple process which requires a minimum of tools. It is necessary to correctly make the markup and properly prepare the surface.

Materials and tools

Most types of vinyl tiles are squares, the side of which is 30 centimeters. Strips of material for finishing the floor are different widths- from 0.6 to 15 centimeters. To buy required amount covering, you should measure the area on which the tiles will be laid, and add another 10% for waste.

Need to use adhesive composition which is recommended for laying vinyl flooring. Vinyl tile adhesive must meet established standards and conditions for laying this material. When arranging a vinyl floor, you need to have on hand the following tools. For marking you will need a pencil, a marking cord and a tape measure. To cut the material, prepare a metal square and a blade knife. For laying vinyl tiles, you need to take a spatula for glue, a sponge and a smooth rubber roller.

Foundation preparation

If we are talking about self-adhesive vinyl tiles, then the laying process should begin with the fact that construction material must be “aged” for a day in the room where its installation will be carried out. There is no need to remove the packaging. It is recommended to protect the adhesive base of the tiles from dust and dirt, because this will make it difficult to stick later.

The surface under the vinyl tile in any case should be even, solid and inflexible without traces of grease, paint and oils. As a preparation of the subfloor, it is necessary to close the cracks, seams and joints, as well as eliminate irregularities. If we are talking about arranging a vinyl floor with an adhesive base on “warm floors”, then it is recommended to turn off the heating at least three days before laying and leave the system turned off for another six days after completion of work.

There are restrictions related to the temperature in the room. The optimum temperature range is plus 18 - 24 degrees Celsius. Along with this, you need to make sure that the base under the decoria vinyl tiles is not wet, as failure to do this will provoke mold and mildew on the old floor. The relative humidity of the subfloor is usually measured with a hygrometer: it should not be more than 0.05%. In wet rooms and on the concrete base of the first floors, it is necessary to arrange waterproofing. In addition, you should not lay vinyl tiles at the same time as carrying out "dusty" construction processes.

Space Markup

In order to correctly determine the place to start work, it is recommended to carefully mark the space of the room. Find the center of the room, because all measurements are taken from this point. Move from the center to the wall, so you can find the best place to start the process of laying vinyl art tile with joints in a line.

Laying tiles apart requires a slightly different way of finding the starting position. Often the most in an efficient way definitions starting point is laying tiles dry in the direction of the wall from the center line.

When the required arrangement of tiles is reached, one simply needs to draw a line with a pencil along the last row of tiles closest to the wall. Along this line it is necessary to lay full tiles. For cutting the coating around curved surfaces and pipes, it is advisable to use a cardboard template. After that, remove all the tiles that were laid dry and proceed to the next step.

Adhesive for vinyl tiles

For gluing vinyl tiles, you need to take acrylic dispersion adhesive. It should be noted that adhesives intended for vinyl flooring generally have a waiting time of around 5-10 minutes. Thus, finefloor vinyl tiles can only be glued after the adhesive has “matured” on the substrate.

On the package of vinyl coating adhesive, all the necessary information. Carefully read the instructions for using this adhesive. Listen to the recommendations of manufacturers and take into account the operating conditions of the future coating. The optimal consumption of the glue used reaches 0.3-0.5 kilograms per square meter.

Bonding vinyl tiles

Tiles can be cut with a utility knife, but since the blades will dull quickly, it's a good idea to have spares on hand. It is done like this: cut upper layer tiles, then the material breaks along the cut line and with reverse side is cut. It is possible to cut vinyl tiles according to pre-made patterns.

When gluing vinyl tiles, avoid getting under the coating of air. You can not lay tiles close to the walls, you should leave a small gap. Glue must be applied evenly in sections, leaving no glue clots and untreated areas.

To ensure that the adhesive is applied evenly and in the amount required for applying the coating, it is recommended to use a notched trowel with replaceable blades. Due different shapes and different pitch the teeth of the spatulas will ensure the required consumption of glue. When laying on flat base you can use a household hair dryer to give the tile more plasticity.

After gluing the vinyl tile, it should be rolled with a heavy special roller or rubbed with a cork board. This is done for better adhesion and to remove bubbles. Excess glue that has come out at the seams must be removed with a damp sponge or a sponge that has been dipped in an alcohol-containing composition, before the glue begins to dry. After half an hour, roll the laid area with a roller again.

After gluing the flooring, vinyl tiles do not need special joint treatment. The exception is especially wet rooms, for this it is customary to use cold welding. The seams are sealed after the adhesive has set, that is, when working with dispersion adhesives, not earlier than two days after laying. If the seams are closed too early, this will adversely affect the bonding and cause defects in the seam edge.

Vinyl floor care

Despite the fact that vinyl tile is a fairly unpretentious material, there are some rules associated with cleaning and caring for vinyl floors. To prevent a lot of sand and dirt from getting into the room, experts recommend laying special rugs near the entrance, which are able to take on some of the debris and avoid premature abrasion in the most passable places.

It is recommended to wash vinyl tiles with detergents that have a neutral composition. As part of detergents should be free of bleach and ammonia. The best choice will become special chemistry for vinyl flooring. After wet cleaning, wipe without fail floor with a dry cloth. As a last resort, if the surface is heavily soiled, a special polishing machine can be used.

Keep all sharp and rough tools that can damage and scratch the vinyl away. Put some protection on furniture legs so they don't scratch the floor when you plan to move the headsets. Many manufacturers during the operation of vinyl self-adhesive tiles strongly do not recommend the use of any mastics, turpentine and acetone, because they can damage the surface of the tile.

All! Your floor is ready! Finally, I would like to note that vinyl tiles can be used not only for arranging the floor, but also for wall decoration.
