Spring work in the garden. Spring work in the country: what needs to be done first

With the onset of winter, gardeners and gardeners take a short break and rest from work in the country. But with the onset of spring, they again have to work in the garden and garden. Let's find out in more detail what activities need to be carried out on the plots so that gardeners and gardeners are satisfied with the harvest.

Basic gardening in spring

With the onset of spring, the first work begins not in the garden, but in the garden. This is related to that most activities are carried out before sap flow and the appearance of the first kidney.

What needs to be done:

Coniferous tree care in spring

To spring bright sun did not damage the crown coniferous trees, they must be covered with an old bedspread or burlap. The roots of coniferous trees must be shed warm water th. This procedure will help to melt the snow faster and protect the trees from dehydration.

If during the winter the branches broke or dried up, then they must be removed. Also, do not forget about mulching. It can be done using pine bark or crushed cones. This process helps retain moisture. last longer and prevent weeds.

Spring care for currants, raspberries and gooseberries

Spring work in the garden

In order to receive good harvest from the beds, it is necessary to prepare the garden for planting in the spring. What should be done?

Spring lawn care

If you have a lawn then you need to take care of him, starting with early spring . As soon as the snow on the lawn begins to melt, you need to scatter mineral fertilizers containing nitrogen over the entire area of \u200b\u200bthe lawn.

When the soil dries out a little, it is necessary to remove all leaves and debris from the lawn. After that, it is necessary to loosen the lawn with a special rake-scarifier. This procedure will enable young shoots to grow.

In order for the soil to be saturated with oxygen, pierce it around the entire perimeter of the lawn with a fork.

If during all the above works the surface of the lawn is damaged, these areas must be leveled in height, cover with sand and sow with a new lawn.

In May, the lawn needs to be mowed, but it is not worth trampling on it much so that your marks do not remain.

strawberry care

Everyone loves strawberries, both adults and children. But not everyone knows that proper care In the spring, a good harvest depends on strawberries. How to care for this berry in the spring?

From the area where strawberries grow, it is necessary to remove all snow-retaining materials. Remove debris and old blackened leaves. Cut off old mustaches and inflorescences. It is better to burn all collected garbage in order to protect your berry from last year's diseases and pests.

After that, apply a nitrogen-containing fertilizer under each bush. To get a good harvest, strawberries need to be fed before flowering and after flowering. Cooking yeast is suitable for this, chicken manure, mullein, sodium sulfate, potassium, nitrophosphate, weed tincture. But you also need to feed it correctly, otherwise excessive feeding can lead to the death of strawberries.

New leaves that swell should be dug in with earth. The soil around the strawberry bushes must be loosened.

Before the appearance of leaves, each bush must be sprayed Bordeaux mixture. And when it's warm, bushes must be sprayed with a solution from calcium chloride and wood ash.

If some strawberry bushes are frozen, then new bushes can be planted in their place.

If you do not want your berry to be attacked by slugs, you should mulch with wood ash or pine needles.

Spring work in the country: planting new flowers

In early March, you can already plant the following flowers: hyacinths, crocuses, snowdrops, asters petunias. But if you want these flowers to please you with their flowering earlier, need to plant seeds at home first in special boxes, and with the onset of heat, plant seedlings in the ground.

Before planting the seeds, they must be soaked for several minutes in a solution of potassium permanganate. After this procedure, the seeds must be dried, and can be planted.

Land for planting must also be prepared. Better if it consists of humus, sand and soil.

If you decide to plant bulbous plants, then before planting they must be kept for thirty minutes in a potassium permanganate solution. This is necessary so that they are not exposed to various viruses and fungi.

When disembarking bulbous plants into the ground, make sure that the bulb is strictly directed downwards. Landing should be carried out when the air temperature at night is above ten degrees. Otherwise, your flowers will die.

The soil must be well water-permeable. Sandy soil needs to be fertilized with compost, and if the soil does not pass water well, then a little crushed stone and sand should be poured into the bottom of each hole.

If you do it right, then your flower bed will be the most beautiful in the country.

Now you know what spring work in the garden and garden is, what needs to be done to get a good harvest. Stick to these rules and you'll be fine. Happy harvest!

Winter is about to end, and we will return to gardening again. As you know, these works are not only planting fruit vegetable crops but also in the careful care of the soil, shrubs and trees. And they should be taken as soon as the cold subsides, so as not to miss the time. Each month of spring has its own characteristics in the care of the garden.

What to look out for in March

In March, the main concern for the garden is the quality pruning of perennials - trees and shrubs. It can be started after frosts below 10 degrees stop.

In March, after the snow melts, pruning of trees and shrubs should be done.

  1. Systematic pruning helps to regulate the processes of plant growth and fruiting, to increase the period of productivity. For example, cutting the branches of apple trees in winter and spring, you will ensure best decoration buds, friendly flowering and high yield.
  2. At currant and gooseberry bushes, old branches should be sawn off to the ground. Usually they are unproductive and give underdeveloped shoots that do not bring a crop. In raspberries, such shoots are best removed in the fall, but the early spring period is also suitable for such work.
  3. Be sure to whitewash garden trees if you didn't do it in the fall. It is better to do this at the very beginning of March, before the snow melts completely, in order to avoid bark burns, and only on a sunny day.
  4. Until the movement of tree sap has come (in the first half of March), graft the cuttings. Later vaccinations will not succeed.
  5. If during the winter damage appeared on the trunks of trees, they need to be “treated”. Clean the damaged area to healthy tissue, disinfect the wound with a solution of vitriol and lubricate with garden pitch or mullein and clay putty. Wrap the stained areas with burlap.
  6. In the last days of March, you can remove the strapping from tree trunks. Loosen the remaining snow around the trees. If the spring turned out to be cold and protracted, then these works can be carried out in April.

What to do in the garden in March

How to avoid mistakes when pruning trees and shrubs

Like any garden work in March, pruning fruit and berry plantations requires some knowledge and has its own secrets.

Tree pruning is as follows:

  • prune old fruit-bearing trees first;
  • after 1-2 weeks, younger trees that do not bear fruit;
  • the apple tree begins flowering before everyone else, so it is cut first;
  • pears, plums and cherry trees can be pruned before flowering.

When you cut large branches, try to make a ring cut without leaving stumps. Such a wound will heal faster and have less impact on the trunk. Slices from branches with a diameter of more than one and a half centimeters, clean with a knife and paint over oil paint oil based.

Please note: in order to avoid infection of the tree due to trimming damaged areas, be sure to treat the tools used with a solution of potassium permanganate.

The branches of shrubs - raspberries, currants, gooseberries - must be cut to the level of the soil. At the same time, pay special attention to the tops of productive shoots: it is enough to shorten them by 15 cm if they have not suffered from frost and mechanical damage. Otherwise, pruning should be done to 1-2 healthy buds so that the cut exposes the green bark and white wood.

When cutting branches, check the location of pest nests and destroy them. It would be best to burn the nests along with the pruned branches.

April worries

This month will require a lot of diligence from us. It is in April that the snow finally melts, but cold snaps are frequent. Therefore, we will have to eliminate the shortcomings of March and take care of the soil.

In April, you need to dig in the trees and feed them

  1. If you haven't finished pruning trees and shrubs during the previous month, now is the time to get to work. And after that you can start planting and transplanting plants.
  2. Shrub shoots laid on the ground before winter must be released and straightened.
  3. Be sure to feed the plants with fertilizers - organic and nitrogen. If your garden is still young or consists only of a berry, use this recipe: a mixture of 30 g of superphosphate, 4 kg of humus and 0.5 kg of wood ash per 1 sq. m. area. A fertile garden will require a 30% increase in fertilizer dose.
  4. Be sure to dig the soil around the tree trunks. It is very important not to miss the most opportune moment. To do this, check the soil: take some earth, squeeze it in the palm of your hand and open it. The soil should be slightly damp and break into large pieces. If it has retained the shape of a compressed palm, then it is too early to start digging, but if it crumbles, then the earth has already dried up and it is too late to process it.
  5. It is necessary to dig near the trunks along the radius, starting from the tree trunk, so as not to damage the root system. When processing bushes, it will be more convenient to use a garden pitchfork. Carefully break up lumps and level the surface with a rake. While working, try to pick out the roots of weeds.

Planting new plants and care features

When the snow melts, and the earth completely thaws and warms up, you can start planting young trees. Plan the location of the holes in advance and prepare them so that by the time of use the soil in them has sunk to the desired level. The size of the pit should be about 2 times larger than the earthen clod that wraps the rhizome.

Pour the mixture into the bottom fertile soil and organic fertilizers. Form a mound in the center of the hole and strengthen the seedling by spreading the roots. Compact the soil, water and fix the plant on a pre-driven peg. After a couple of days, mulch the trunk circle.

Tip: be sure to check the quality of the seedlings! The root system must be strong, healthy and sufficiently developed. Avoid diseased and broken branches on the plant.

When planting shrub seedlings, follow these rules:

  • currants are planted with a slope of 45 degrees to the soil surface;
  • gooseberry bushes are planted vertically;
  • after planting these crops, branches are pruned to three buds above the ground;
  • raspberries should be cut to a height of 40 cm.

If you have prepared cuttings for vaccination, then in April is the time to use them. Before the juice begins to actively move along the trunks, it is most convenient to apply the methods of improved copulation and splitting.

So that sudden spring cold snaps do not take you by surprise, and the flowers are not damaged, try to warm the soil yourself. Smoke piles will help you with this. And to protect strawberries and strawberries, cover them with old newspapers or film.

In the course of gardening in April, the first spraying is carried out. It must be done when the buds on pears and apple trees are just beginning to bloom and look like a green cone. Use Azofos or Bordeaux liquid for this.

There is a very good alternative to chemical spraying. In April, preparations based on petroleum oil can be used for this. They help very well in protecting the garden from pests such as sucker, scale insect, moth, aphid, leafworm.

Garden care in May

This month brings us closer to summer, and everything you plan to do in the garden is focused on flowering. fruit trees and shrubs.

There is still an opportunity to get vaccinated in May if you missed the opportunity in April. Pay attention to the condition of the kidneys. If they are swollen and are about to open, it means that the active movement of juices has begun. The cuttings grafted at this time will receive the necessary nutrition. In this case, the kidneys on the cuttings should be at rest, that is, not open.

If you did not provide your garden with smoke piles in April, then in May you will have to hurry with this. On an area of 6 acres, you will need to make about 10 such piles, evenly distributing them throughout the garden. Otherwise, you risk losing flowers at the first light frost.

Tip: In order to avoid wasting time on such piles, in May you can use smoke bombs instead. They can be purchased at the hardware store.

Remember that even light frosts can damage the flowers and deprive you of the harvest. For example, flower buds apple trees can withstand temperatures down to -4 degrees, and already opened flowers will die at 0: -1 degrees.

In May, the flowering of trees and shrubs begins, it is especially important to protect them from frost during this period.

Now May garden work will consist of regular, proper feeding and protection from pests and disease exposure.

As soon as ovaries begin to form on the branches, fertilize the soil around the plants. organic fertilizers, for example, infusion bird droppings or cow. Sometimes they can be replaced mineral fertilizers. Be sure to water the plants well after top dressing so that the water quickly conveys nutrients to the root system.

How to avoid the impact of harmful insects on plants

It is in May that the invasion of insects begins that can harm trees and shrubs, and even destroy the entire crop. First, the caterpillars of the rose leafworm and moth come out of wintering. After flowering ends, codling moth butterflies appear. It is necessary not to miss this moment and carefully treat the trees with special preparations.

The most common pests of berry bushes are:

  • moth;
  • weevil;
  • sawyer.

These insects are activated in May, and infect raspberries, currants, gooseberries. To combat each of them there is a drug. Consider your choice of funds special attention: substances must be approved for use and approved by the relevant authorities.

Pest-proof garden will delight you with lush blooms

It can be very useful to regularly loosen the soil in trunk circles. Thus, you will disturb the pests and destroy their nests. It is especially important to do this after rains to remove the remnants of weed roots.

Review the vaccinations you received in April. If they have taken root, you can remove the protective film.

By the end of May, the trees fade, and an ovary forms on them. First, the flowering is completed by stone fruits - plums and cherries, then - pears, and apple trees are the last to bloom. At this time, complex processing of trees will be required, which includes exposure to the following drugs:

  • acaricide will prevent the occurrence of ticks;
  • insecticides will scare away pests - insects and rodents;
  • fungicides will stop the development of diseases.

Timely and correctly carried out work will save your garden, make it healthy, beautiful and fruitful.

Many people associate the arrival of spring with warmth, lengthening daylight hours and the desire to relax in the bosom of nature, breathing fresh air. However, if you own a garden or summer cottage, you associate spring with the beginning land works. Successful spring work in the country is the key to a rich harvest and beautiful garden. Therefore, during the period when the earth is getting rid of the annoying ice shackles, you should not waste your time, because right now you need to start preparing the site for the next harvest season. And the "Dream House" will tell you what works are the most important in the spring.

Spring work in the country

Spring starts with cleaning

Even the most well-groomed garden at the beginning of spring looks depressing: the covering material that protects the soil squinted under the weight of snow and moisture, last year's foliage turned into a pile of garbage and began to rot, and fallen branches and fallen branches accumulated under the trees. Not only does the garbage collected during the winter look extremely unaesthetic, it also negatively affects the condition of the soil. Therefore, the very first work in the country in the spring should begin with a general cleaning.

As soon as the first snow melts and the temperature stabilizes a little, collect the covering material, clean it and hide it until the next frost. Please note that if spring has not yet fully come into its own and the tree branches are covered with a snow or ice crust, it should be removed, otherwise the branches may break due to excess weight.

Work in the country in the spring

Spring cleaning of the garden

Spring work on suburban area

Spring cleaning of the garden, garden and cottages consists in the complete cleaning of the territory from debris, last year's leaves and grass. The easiest way to do this is with a rake and garden brush. However, you should not burn last year's foliage, because this can harm your health and the health of others. Experienced gardeners use winter debris to create compost, pouring leftover foliage into a special container or pit.

With the advent of spring, the first weeds wake up. If shoots of enemies horticultural crops have already appeared through the soil, remove them right now, otherwise the grass will grow significantly in a week. In addition, in warm and humid places, such as under stones, containers, etc., moss often forms, which also has a detrimental effect on plants. It is convenient to remove the growth with a brush or a strong jet of water.

Spring at their summer cottage: preparing the soil

One of milestones spring work on personal plot is tillage. As soon as the snow has completely melted and the earth stops sticking to the shovel, the soil must be dug up to remove weed roots and pest larvae from the soil.

Also, it is in the spring that the soil should be fertilized to ensure a good harvest. It is recommended to use as a feed universal fertilizers containing nitrogen, potassium and phosphorus.

Because in spring time there are sharp fluctuations temperature regime, the soil around, trees and perennials should be mulched. This will protect the root systems of plants from the cold and hide them from scorching sun. To create mulch, it is better to use fresh humus or compost.

Also, pay attention to the strength of the soil. In too heavy soil, water will stagnate at the roots of plants. To improve the quality of the land, it is recommended in this case to add coarse gravel or fine sand. If the soil is too loose, add clay or clay soil to it along with fertilizers, otherwise nutrients and moisture will seep deep into the soil.

Having prepared the soil, pay attention to spring work on the lawn. With the first thaw, remove the remnants of snow and ice from, providing air access to. Due to seemingly harmless remnants of ice crusts, after a while, ugly bald spots form on the lawn.

Taking care of trees and shrubs in spring

If the air temperature stays at 3-4 degrees above zero for several days in a row, it's time to start pruning fruit trees and shrubs. Pruning should begin with the largest branches, gradually going down, so that as a result the crown of the tree takes on a cup-shaped shape. However, any pruning work should be carried out before the start of the growing season.

If you plan to plant young seedlings, you need to do this immediately after the snow melts. But keep in mind that planting must be done before the buds form on the seedlings.

In addition, when caring for trees and shrubs, pay attention to fastened dry leaves. Often these leaves are nests. dangerous pests. To protect plant health, collect dry leaves and burn them.

Work in the country in early spring

We prepare seedlings

As a rule, before planting, seedlings are grown indoors or in greenhouses, but if the weather is calm outside, in March, young plants can be taken out for several hours to acclimatize. It is possible to leave seedlings overnight in the garden only if frosts are not expected, however, insulate containers with young plants until the temperature is completely stabilized. If you grow seedlings in spring, increase ventilation to harden plants. Depending on the variety of plants, hardening is carried out for 7-10 days before planting in the ground.

Spring work in the garden

Hello dear friends!

So the winter is over. The new summer season begins, with its pleasant chores and diversified efforts to obtain excellent harvests vegetables, berries and fruits. Let's talk about what gardening in early spring it is advisable to carry out in order to then reduce your load when the hottest time comes for digging the earth and creating new beds, planting seedlings and sowing different cultures, weeding and watering.

Until the snow melts experienced gardeners store it in water containers (barrels, cisterns, bathtubs, etc.). When planting vegetables in greenhouses or in April on the beds, melt water will come in handy.

Pruning and fertilizing trees and shrubs

Prior to sap flow, trees should be pruned and fruit bushes(deciduous). This can be done on the first warm days, even if there is still snow. It is better to carry out this work in the morning, while the ground is frozen and the snow is dense, so that it is convenient to walk around the site.

First of all, large branches are removed. Then it is necessary to carefully examine the bark of trees, and, if infected areas are found, it must be cleaned. Extra branches, as well as damaged, broken during the winter, dry, brittle or diseased, are also subject to pruning and subsequent burning.

Coniferous trees and shrubs, if any, are pruned much later - in April-May. While there is snow, trees and shrubs should be fed. After the snow melts, loosen the ground in the trunk circles and carefully water each tree.

General cleaning in the garden

This stage of work is the most time-consuming, it is carried out after the snow has completely melted. Even late autumn you freed the area from fallen leaves and brought full order, all the same, various garden debris accumulates over the winter: large mulch (spruce branches, tree branches), which is sometimes used to cover the beds and hold snow on them, windbreak, the remains of various shelters and supports, etc.

Trunk whitewashing

This advice is for those summer residents who did not carry out autumn whitewashing of tree trunks, and also did not do this type of work in February. So that fruit trees do not suffer from the bright spring sun, you need to wrap their trunks with light paper or newspapers just above the ground surface.

It will be possible to remove this protective cover just before whitewashing, which is carried out after the snow melts and the temperature rises above + 5 ° С. But do not delay with whitewashing, it needs to be done before the awakening of the kidneys and the appearance of the first greenery, because after warming up the earth will wake up from hibernation overwintered insect pests. Do not forget to repair wounds and other deep damage on trees. Whitewashing is especially important for young plants.

Treatment of trees with insecticides

Upon reaching average daily temperature mark + 5 ° С, carry out spraying of garden trees and shrubs against infectious diseases and dangerous insects. This work must be done before the first leaves appear.

Insecticide treatment is necessary against pests and clutches of their eggs wintering on the bark of trees: apple sucker, all varieties of aphids, fruit mites, apple moth (caterpillars), leafworms, etc.

Planting and transplanting plants

Early spring is a great time to plant new shrubs (raspberries, currants, gooseberries, sakura), fruit trees and flowers. Most active growth and the development of the root system of plants occurs at a soil temperature of +5°C to +12°C, and this happens either in autumn or early spring. It is believed that it is preferable to plant shrubs and trees in the spring, since in the fall the new inhabitants of your garden do not have enough time to adapt before the onset of stable cold weather.

Other works

Lilies and daffodils are quite hardy, so when the snow layer becomes very thin or it melts completely, these plants can be freed from winter shelters.

At the end of February, vegetable crops are sown for seedlings (tomatoes, peppers, cabbage, etc.), which will be planted in open ground at the end of frost or in greenhouses (much earlier).

With the advent of spring, not only nature comes to life, but our loved ones garden plots, as well as ourselves. This period is the revival of new forces and a surge of joy from communion with the earth. I wish you good luck gardening in early spring and good harvest to you next season! See you!

Here comes the spring. The first warm rays of the sun give us joy and awaken the first spring flowers, buds begin to swell on the trees. It's time to get out of our apartments and go to the country, put everything in order so that she pleases us with her colors and fruits.

What to do at the dacha in March?

March - the beginning of spring, it can still be cold, and periodically accompanied by frosts. It’s not yet so warm to start planting work in the country, but you can already safely go and start cleaning and preparing the cottage for summer season.

When we arrive at the dacha, the first thing we do is clean up the area, since old leaves could remain in the fall, and dust and debris accumulated over the winter.

Inspect your buildings, maybe they need some kind of repair. It's time to do general cleaning country house. Decide what needs to be painted and whitewashed. Buy the necessary products and put your cottage in order.

Also take care of inventory. See if something is broken for you, you need to fix it or buy new tools for the garden. When checking, please note that each dacha must have the following tools: a shovel, a rake, buckets, choppers, a pruner, an ax.

Also, when you arrive at the cottage, keep in mind that you will need things for work. What will be the clothes - you decide, but in spring period it should be warm, because the heat in the street is deceptive. Make sure that things cover your back, because when you bend over, your back may be open, and this will lead to illness.

Also get yourself gloves for working on the site, preferably several pairs. Please note that shoes should be warm and comfortable. Bring rubber boots to the dacha, you will need them for work in the country in the spring, as well as in the summer after heavy rain.

Also, be sure to bring personal hygiene products: soap to wash your hands and be sure to take hand cream, as the skin of the hands, when working in the summer cottage, quickly becomes weathered and requires enhanced care.

Decide where and what you will plant. Prepare the site for planting. Maybe somewhere you need to dig up the earth or break up large pieces of earth.

Before planting seedlings, the seeds must be processed. To do this, sort out the seeds, that is, select the largest and healthiest. Warm them up on the heater for several hours. In a glass of water, add 1 tbsp. a spoonful of salt and dip the seeds there, bad seeds float up, remove them. Next, put the seeds in cheesecloth on a germination dish. Also, the seeds must be hardened by putting them in the refrigerator for several hours. Your seeds are now ready to be planted. You plant them in a greenhouse or greenhouse, or in wooden boxes you collect land in advance, dry it, and sow seeds there. Then put the boxes in a warm room on the window so that they get sunlight.

Also in March, according to the same principle, it is already possible to prepare annual flowers, such as asters, petunias, marigolds, for their future planting in open ground. The soil must first be fertilized. It is better to fertilize it in March, when the ground is still frozen.

If you grow dahlias, begonias, gladioli on your site, then in March it’s time to take them out to a warm, bright place, check all the roots, sort out the damaged ones, and plant them in prepared soil in boxes for germination and future transplanting into open ground.

In March, you should have time to sow seeds, repair and remove outbuildings, fix inventory, prepare and fertilize the land.

April classes

In April, spring is felt on the street, and there are no big frosts anymore, the plants are awakening from hibernation. At this time, you can already begin to remove the coatings that you did in the vineyard, roses, so that they do not freeze in winter.

The earth has already warmed up a little by the rays of the sun, but not yet enough to start landing work. But by mid-April, you can already begin to break greenhouses or hotbeds for sowing seeds and planting seedlings from boxes.

If you grow vegetables, then make a greenhouse. It must stand for several days under a closed film so that the earth warms up in it. Next, you can plant seeds for seedlings.

In April, trees and shrubs need to be put in order, since they have not yet awakened from winter, and you will not harm them. View all your trees in the country and shrubs. Cut dry branches, cut the crown with pruners, remove the branches growing inside the crown. Also, in order to neutralize your trees from insects, you need to treat the trunks with special preparations.

April is a good month for planting trees. If you decide to update your garden, April is the month when they can be planted, shrubs are also planted.

Along with this, strawberries and raspberries are prepared for the summer season in April. You need to check all the strawberries, remove the extra antennae, thin out. In raspberries, remove dry stems and thin out if raspberries grow densely.

Summer cottage action plan for May

May is the most active month for working at the dacha. Also during this period, insects and garden pests wake up.

Check currants for mites. Kidneys that with mites are different from other kidneys - larger size. Collect them and burn them, in no case do not throw away such kidneys on land plot or into compost. When the currant begins to bloom, make sure that there are no dirty pink flowers. If you find such inflorescences, be sure to dig up and burn the bush, as this disease quickly spreads through the plants and all bushes will die completely.

Seedlings in greenhouses and greenhouses also require inspection, if during the inspection you see that the leaves are twisted down, or there are strongly convex gaps on the leaves, this means that the seedlings have spider mite. Please note that aphids may appear on the pepper. If the seedlings are damaged, treat them with biological preparations against ticks and aphids.

In May, you also need to feed the seedlings, if the seedlings look sluggish and its leaves turn yellow, feed them by special means.

In mid-May, you can start planting seedlings on the ground. Before planting, prepare a place and holes for seedlings, pour water into it. Since in summer the moisture quickly disappears and leaves the soil, in order to water the plants less often and the moisture remains longer, you need to mulch the soil. To do this, use high-moor peat, or you can lay it with dry grass, or even a newspaper. Keep in mind that tomatoes will like such a coating, as they grow better (if moisture goes deep, they root system is improving). Eggplants and peppers do not like this technology, they need daily watering, but moderate, as they grow better when the soil surface is moist.

It's also time to plant in the ground. annual plants: parsley and dill. Be sure to water the seedlings before planting so as not to disturb the root system.

Potatoes are best planted at the moment when the bird cherry blossoms. Before planting, potatoes need to be prepared two weeks in advance: sorted out and put in a warm place for germination. When disembarking, keep in mind that the ground should already be 12-15 degrees. Do not plant potatoes deep, about half a shovel bayonet. When planting, you can immediately fertilize the potatoes, put wood ash or straw in the hole, which will give warmth and fertilizer to the potatoes throughout the spring.

So you need to process trees and shrubs from pests. Spraying against pests should be done at the beginning of flowering and repeated after two weeks.

May is also a good month for grafting trees. If you planned to plant trees, do it in May. When grafting, pay attention that the moon is not growing, as the trees fall under the influence of the moon. With the growth of the moon, the juice in the trees is more in the branches, when the moon decreases, the juice comes to the root system.

Another main pest of the garden and vegetable garden are ants. If you find ants on the bushes, put a rag soaked in kerosene next to the bush, this smell will drive the ants away from the bush. How to remove an anthill? You can treat it with special means against ants, preferably those that are added to food bait for ants. Since the ant shares his food with all the ants, he will not only die himself, but his fellows too.

Let's talk about gardening

Throughout the spring, you need to maintain the garden and help the plants to ripen better. For spring work, do the following:
  1. Feed your plants. Even if the soil is good and fertile, be sure to feed the trees and shrubs. The fertilizer consists of a mixture of nutrient elements for growth: potassium, nitrogen and phosphorus. Phosphorus promotes the growth of the root system and shoots, nitrogen is responsible for the saturation of greenery, potassium is important for the formation of flowers and fruits. When fertilizing plants, it is better to use the complex content of phosphorus, nitrogen and potassium. They are sold in stores for summer residents and, as a rule, are distributed in granules. Scatter this fertilizer around the plants during the period when there is still snow or when it will melt, thanks to which nutrients will smoothly flow into the ground.

  2. Weed cleaning. Keep in mind that many weeds grow faster than cultivated plants. Be sure to water the area, but be careful if you have perennials that haven't sprouted yet. It is better to do weeding with your hands so that weeds are uprooted and they do not grow again. If you have a place where there are no perennials, then you can treat it with weed control agents.

  3. Mulch the soil. Mulch the soil when planting. For mulching, you can use different types mulching: from old leaves or straw. The main thing is that the layer should be thick, about ten centimeters, so that it is not blown away by rain and wind. Mulching will help the soil retain moisture better, creating cool conditions for plant roots in summer.

  4. Check the soil for empty spots. In the spring, you can immediately see in which places the plants died after the winter. It is possible to decide what can be planted in empty places. Or make arrangements of annual flowers in combination with perennial flowers.

  5. It is also necessary to clean the paths and paths from the leaves and moss left over from last year. It is advisable to wash the paths with water from a hose or a metal brush.

  6. Check the flowerpots, they could be a little damaged during the winter. Seal cracks with putty for external use. Next, you need to change the earth in flowerpots to a new one. If it wintered there perennial, it needs to be pulled out and the roots dried a little, since after winter a lot of water forms in the flowerpot.

  7. If there is a pond or pool on the territory of your dacha, be sure to clean it and check the serviceability of the equipment for supplying water and draining, and especially filters.

After you worked in the spring in the country, prepared it for summer period, it remains only to monitor your plants, fertilize them in time, water them and enjoy the delicious fruits growing on your site.
