The surface is matte and glossy, smooth or textured, thanks to which the wall can be given almost any texture. The most common textures are: linen, satin, silk, sand, plaster, oil painting. All materials intended for subsequent printing, as a rule, are of high quality, resistant to mechanical stress and moisture, do not need additional processing and lamination. However, the durability and quality of the finished photopanel will depend not only on the material, but also on the type of ink used.
What paint is being painted
- ink on water based provide the best color reproduction. They also provide the highest print resolution, up to 1600 dpi, but have the lowest light fastness, do not adhere well to PVC materials and require additional lamination. However, even a UV-resistant laminate will extend the life of such an image only up to 2.5 - a maximum of 3 years.
- Solvent ink is more lightfast and resistant to any external influences (sun, moisture, abrasion).
- They are compatible with almost any media, but do not produce high quality prints. And besides, they have a sharp, long-lasting smell, so they are not recommended for interior printing.
- Eco-solvent inks, unlike their "brothers", do not have a smell (which, however, does not mean that they are harmless) and give a print quality close to photographic. However, prints made with this ink are not abrasion resistant and easily erased under pressure. To extend their service life, you will need additional varnishing.
- UV-curable inks are comparable in stability to solvent inks, but are considered less harmful (although there is also an odor). They are practically independent of the material (you can print on anything), do not require additional fixing, but printing with such inks will cost more.
Individual approach to the choice of photo wallpaper
If you decide to order photo wallpaper printing in a specialized studio, you will first have to select an image from the catalog. Then, according to your dimensions, a layout will be made and, after agreeing on the material and price, they will start printing. Order fulfillment may take 4 to 5 days. In addition to paper, printing and preparation of the layout, the cost will also include the cost of the original image in high resolution (from 700-800 rubles and more). Printing "ready-made photo wallpapers" will cost less. This vague definition usually refers to a set of images that have been pre-designed for several standard sizes. Additionally, you won’t have to buy a picture, but the choice of subjects will be limited. Printed photo wallpapers will almost certainly have to be adjusted in height and width, but the execution of an order according to the finished “template” will take no more than one day.

How to paste wallpaper correctly

Carefully prepared surface.The wall must be perfectly flat, clean and dry. If necessary, the surface should be puttied and primed, any irregularities will subsequently be very conspicuous. If the photo wallpaper paper is thin and the pattern is light, it is better to paint the wall with water-based paint.
Correctly assembled drawing.
Before sticking, lay out the pattern on the floor according to the sample. The panels are usually numbered, the layout diagram is attached. Carefully review the joints of the picture, if necessary - make marks with a pencil.
Wall marking.
Pre-mark on the wall horizontal and vertical line exactly in the center of the wall, if necessary, make additional markings for each panel. When gluing, strictly adhere to verticals and horizontals: any deviations will lead to distortions in the picture, which will be impossible to correct.
Invisible joints.
Panels and strips are glued in accordance with the attached instructions - either exactly butted, or with trimming. In the latter case, each panel is superimposed on the previous one with an overlap so that the image on both parts is aligned. Then, a cut is made along the alignment zone - both strips are cut along the ruler in one motion from top to bottom. The cut edges are removed, the joints are aligned and carefully glued.

Except for the adjustment of the pattern, the murals are pasted in the same way as ordinary wallpaper- depending on the type of material. In the case of paper photo wallpapers, the glue is applied to the canvas, when working with a material on a non-woven basis, to the wall. Mount it on a tripod and set the required characteristics. It is most reliable to take a series of shots with different apertures and shutter speeds. The final assessment of the quality of the resulting image will be given by the wallpaper manufacturer.
This photograph of Spiekeroog Island in the North Sea (Germany) was adopted without any problems for non-woven wallpaper 140 cm high. A durable canvas made of special cellulose and textile fibers weighs about 200 g / sq. m. m and, therefore, needs special glue. In this case, "Methylan Secura" from Henkel was used. Before gluing the plot, you should cut off the white edge around the perimeter with a wallpaper knife, which protects the image during transportation.
Then the work goes, in principle, as with ordinary wallpaper.

- Make a markup with a pencil and thickly apply glue to the wall. Then attach the first sheet, press the wallpaper to the wall.
- Smooth out the image by actively working with the rubber roller from the center of the panel to the edges.
- The next and all other sheets must be glued absolutely exactly without offsets - in the butt.
- It is convenient to press the joints with a small rubber roller. Excess glue can be easily removed with a cotton cloth.
- If you plan to paint the wall in the future, the edge of the image should be covered with masking tape.
- It remains to put on the wallpaper protective covering, which protects the image from moisture, direct sunlight and other external influences.
Tip: Wall mural should always be pasted on a white base to avoid color distortion.
