Decking: thickness, sheet dimensions, types, purpose. Marking of corrugated board - determination of material properties Criteria for choosing high-quality corrugated board

Durable, lightweight and inexpensive corrugated board, which is also called profiled sheet, has found wide distribution today and has gained popularity among many consumers. Using this material, you can build a garage, warehouse or kiosk. Decking has many varieties, with the help of one of them you can always clad a wall, build a partition or fence, and also easily build a roof.

However, high strength and decorativeness are not the only qualities for which it would be worth choosing this material. After all, it is still quite easy to transport, and upon arrival at the place you can strengthen the sheet with self-tapping screws in a few hours.

Main types

Decking, the thickness of which can be different, has common feature, inherent in all types of profile. This is a coating, which can be simple or polymeric. Plain coating should be understood as a galvanized layer.

Even during the production process, the material can be covered with a durable and decorative one. Considering the types of profile, it can be noted that it has its own depth, shape and width. These features determine the strength and rigidity of the sheet, which makes it possible to use the profiled sheet in the field of construction.

It is worth remembering that corrugated board, the thickness and dimensions of which will be mentioned below, is manufactured according to its own standards by each manufacturer. This indicates that the characteristics mentioned may differ.

Profile C8 assignments

Such a sheet has a corrugated surface and has a lower strength compared to the profiles below. The cloth can have a galvanized or polymeric covering. On sale, such canvases are most often brown, cherry, white, blue or dark green.

If the roof has a sufficiently large slope, then this material can be used for arranging the roof. It is also used as a cladding for walls and in the construction of fences. can be used for roofing if it has a continuous crate. The material can be used as a structural element in the construction of temporary structures and buildings that have a fast construction technology.

This corrugated board can form the basis of the roof if it has a galvanized layer. Having bought a corrugated profiled sheet, you can lay it in the frame structure. Painted sheet with galvanized protective layer can be used for the construction of enclosing and panel structures. Additional areas of application are:

  • steel fences;
  • facing of wall structures;
  • protective coating of walls;
  • elements of prefabricated sandwich panels;
  • elements of composite sandwich structures of walls, partitions, ceilings with fire-resistant characteristics.

If we are talking about fences, then you should purchase C8 corrugated board, which has a galvanized coating protected by a polymer.

Dimensions and characteristics of C8 corrugated board

Decking, the thickness of which can vary from 0.5 to 0.7 mm, has a width of 1200 mm. As for the length, it varies from 0.5 to 12 m. The working width of the sheet is 1150 mm, and the profile height is 8 mm. The profile pitch is equivalent to 115 mm, and the weight of 1 m 2 of the sheet is 4.5 kg. This is true if the thickness is 0.5 mm. With a thickness of 0.7 mm, the weight of 1 m 2 will be 6.17 kg.

Purpose of profile C10

Decking, the thickness of which will be mentioned below, may be designated C10. In this case, we are talking about a corrugated sheet, which has a reduced strength. The corrugation has the shape of a trapezoid, and the colors and coatings of the sheet will be the same as in the case described above.

This type of profiled sheet is used for roofing with a large angle of inclination. The material can be used for the construction of fences, it is also suitable for creating prefabricated structures, outbuildings and for facing buildings. This profiled sheet is used for the manufacture of load-bearing parts, partitions from sandwich panels, which protect buildings from fire.

The minimum thickness of C10 corrugated board is 0.4 mm. This material is used in the arrangement of roofs, on which the crate is laid in increments of 0.8 m. You can also see C10 as a structural element in the construction of steel structures for various purposes.

Dimensions and characteristics of profiled sheet C10

Galvanized corrugated board, thickness 0.5 mm, is an average value. The maximum thickness setting is 0.8 mm. As for the length of the sheet, it varies from 0.5 to 12 m, the total and working width of the sheet are 1150 and 1100 mm, respectively. The profile height is equivalent to 10 mm and the distance between the profiles is 115 mm. A square meter of a sheet with a thickness of 0.5; 0.6; 0.7; 0.8 weighs 4.6; 5.83; 6.33; 7.64 kg respectively.

Purpose of profile C18

This corrugated board, the thickness, the types of which will be described in the article, has the appearance of a wavy or ribbed material. It has a small thickness, which allows you to cut and drill it quite simply. Types and colors of polymer coatings are similar to the profiles described above. Decorativeness is quite high, so C18 is common in the arrangement of fences and fences. A profiled sheet is suitable for roofs on which the crate is pre-laid in increments of 40 cm or less. Additional areas of use are:

  • ceiling lining;
  • wall decoration;
  • erection of shield structures;
  • construction of partition walls.

When using a profiled sheet for roofing, the slope should be 25 ° or less.

Dimensions and characteristics of the C18 profile

The roofing sheeting, whose dimensions in length range from 0.5 to 12 m, has a thickness of 0.4 to 0.8 mm. The total and working width of the sheet is 1023 and 1000 mm, respectively. The profile height is 18 mm. When calculating the load on the roof, you may need such a parameter as the weight of one square meter. If the sheet thickness is 0.5; 0.6; 0.7; 0.8, then the weight of one square meter will be 5.18; 5.57; 7.13 and 8.11 kg respectively.

Purpose of profile C21

The thickness of the roofing corrugated board C21 remains the same as in the case described above. This material is a corrugated fabric, the surface of which can be trapezoidal or ribbed. The fabric is protected from corrosion:

  • prism;
  • polyester;
  • polyurethane;
  • puralom.

C21 has found its distribution for covering roofs with a crate, the elements of which are removed by 80 cm or less. If we compare with previous profiles, then the C21 grade profiled sheet is used for cladding and construction of fences, buildings, outbuildings and structures. The material has high strength, and is also versatile, which is true when compared with previous profiles.

Areas of use are:

  • frame structures;
  • enclosing and shield structures;
  • wall building structures;
  • external walls of small structures such as shopping pavilions, amenity premises and garages;
  • elements of prefabricated sandwich panels.

Dimensions of profile sheet C21

The thickness of the sheet was mentioned above, the length remains the same and varies from 0.5 to 12 m. The total and working width of the sheet are 1051 and 1000 mm, respectively. The profile height is 21 mm and the distance between the profiles is equivalent to 100 mm. With a thickness of 0.5; 0.7; 0.8 mm, the weight of one square meter will be 5.14; 7.13; 8.11 kg respectively.

Varieties of 2 mm corrugated board according to manufacturing technology, profile height and shape, as well as material

2-mm corrugated board is manufactured using one of two technologies:

  • cold rolling;
  • hot rolling.

In the first case, state standards R 52146-2003 are used, while in the second - R 52246-2004. You can also classify this material by the height of the profile. This parameter will change, which is determined by the brand, and will make a limit from 10 to 114 mm. The error allowed during production is 1 to 2.5 mm.

If you purchase a sheet with a higher corrugation, then you will receive a material of high rigidity that can be used in the construction load-bearing structures. You can also subdivide a profiled sheet of 2 mm thickness according to the shape of the profile, it can be:

  • wavy;
  • rectangular;
  • square;
  • trapezoidal.

In production, hot-dip galvanized sheet steel can be used, with aluminum coated, aluminum-silicon protection, with electrolytic zinc coating. These types of corrugated board are made from which is protected by a polymer layer.

Varieties of corrugated board depending on the type of protective coating

The most famous coatings used to protect profiled sheets can be classified into two groups: coating with zinc or aluminum zinc and coating with polymer compositions. The simplest protective base is galvanizing. It is made hot. This suggests that the sheet is dipped into molten zinc, achieving a layer thickness of 25 to 30 microns.

Protects against corrosive substances with an aluminum-zinc coating. It is more resistant, it is also called galvalum. It consists of three components: zinc, aluminum and silicon. The latter is necessary for the connection of the first two metals. Profiled sheet with aluminum-zinc protection is used in those areas of the city that have many busy highways. Such material is suitable for the roofs of a house near the sea coast or in an industrial area.

A small conclusion

The professional flooring found the wide circulation in private and industrial construction for a set of reasons. Among them, we should highlight: strength, ease of installation, corrosion resistance, ease of transportation and modern design.

If compared with smooth ones of the same thickness, then the profiled base will provide greater bending strength, which sometimes reaches 3.5 tons. Mount the profiled sheet to the crate or separate parts buildings can be done using self-tapping screws. Sheets are resistant to all kinds of weather conditions, as well as corrosion, which prolongs their service life.

What characteristics of corrugated board can be checked at home?

In pursuit of a low price, Chinese manufacturers of galvanized painted metal violate all conceivable and unimaginable parameters. The professional flooring made of it has much lower terms of operation and consumer properties.

What characteristics of corrugated board are most important during operation?

  • The thickness of the galvanized steel base.
  • The thickness of the zinc layer, prolonging the layer of operation.
  • characteristic polymer coating. Based on these characteristics, one can judge the life of the corrugated board.

So on all types of types of corrugated board, the top layer is polymer coating. You can check it simply by using a large coin, scraping off the paint. If it comes off in several layers, then in this way one can roughly judge the quality of the polymer coating.

The next parameter is steel thickness. With a thickness of less than 0.45 mm, you cannot walk on such a roof, there is a risk of bending and, as a result, falling. Unfortunately, in field conditions it is impossible to measure the thickness, it is checked in the laboratory. However, some advanced roofers use extremely precise micrometers to accurately reject corrugated board with low thicknesses of 0.375 and 0.4, as well as 0.42 mm.

Also, with the help of very precise micrometers, it is measured zinc layer on corrugated board.The weight of zinc is directly proportional to the thickness. So in the presence of 275 grams, the zinc coating layer is 0.02 mm. As a result of these studies, you can make sure that the purchased profiled flooring has the necessary characteristics.

Remember that the presence of a certificate, as many sites offer, absolutely does not guarantee their compliance in a particular bay of metal. And during a crisis, many simply abuse it. If there is no possibility buy corrugated board from trusted suppliers, then just try using a coin, as we described above.

The corrugated board for the roof is made on bending equipment by cold rolling. It's not entirely clear what it's about? Are you buying building materials for the first time? Then it is important to know some of the nuances of choice and be able to check the quality of products, despite the excellent performance in the documents. Sometimes this is not true enough. In order not to buy a fake or marriage, follow our simple tips.

All the senses help us

On the this moment in almost every region of our country there are many manufacturers of corrugated board. The first thing to ask the consultant is about the raw materials used for building materials and the country that produces it. High quality steel of Russian metallurgists has already been recognized abroad. Therefore, it's time to stop scolding our manufacturers and overpaying for imported analogues of the same quality. And be wary of raw steel Chinese origin. They are lower in terms of production, so the purchase of such a profiled sheet is already at your discretion.

Strength test

Press down on the sheet with your hand or bend it slightly. The corrugated wave on the surface must return to its position. If this happens slowly, then during operation the roof may be deformed.

Quality is determined by ear

By tapping on the profiled sheet, you will hear a certain sound. What should it be? Sound and clean! Any rattling indicates the quality of the steel used.

We peer thoroughly

Polymer-coated corrugated board is much more durable than a galvanized counterpart. But if it is applied in accordance with all the rules and there are no defects on the surface. It is impossible to hide them - these are scuffs or uneven coloring. In this state of affairs, it is worth buying a profiled sheet elsewhere. Run your hand over the material, absolutely smooth, hands do not feel rough? Then it's all right. polymer paint good quality creates an even layer and is resistant to bad weather during operation.

The method of manufacture makes itself felt

If you saw water stains on the surface of the profiled sheet, then consultants sometimes pass them off as a design originality. In fact, this means that an emulsion was used in the manufacture. Such sheets are more likely to corrode, rust begins to appear on them very early.

Buy high-quality building materials, build your houses, live happily ever after!

The metal coating of the roofs of private houses is becoming more and more popular, especially since the material is produced in various variations and, thanks to modern technologies, is constantly being upgraded. Therefore, many consumers have a fair question - which corrugated roof to choose? This one has excellent aesthetic and operational characteristics, it is able not only to reliably shelter the building from rain and wind, but also to transform its appearance.

Decking is produced in different color solutions, and also can have different thickness and configuration of sheets. Due to the fact that roofing sheets are sized to cover the length of the roof slope, from ridge to eaves, they are much easier to mount on truss system than, for example, the familiar traditional slate. In addition, the material is not too heavy, and thanks to special protective coatings and a polymer film applied on top, it will last quite a long time. long term.

High-quality corrugated board is increasingly preferred when choosing a material for the roof of residential buildings, as it has big amount positive qualities that other coatings cannot "boast" of. These advantages include:

  • The first thing that always worries many buyers is the price of the material. Precisely because corrugated board is available for almost any family, it is increasingly the choice when choosing a roofing material.
  • The extensive color gamut of produced sheets allows you to choose exactly the shade of the coating that will be perfect for harmonious design exterior of a private house.
  • The corrugated board is produced in sheets up to twelve meters long, which allows, when mounting it on the roof, to make a minimum number of joints along the slope or even completely abandon the transverse joint.
  • small specific gravity material, simplicity and clarity of installation allows you to make roofing independently with the involvement of only one assistant, who will feed the sheets to the height of the roof.
  • The consumer is given the opportunity to choose the height of the relief of the sheet - depending on the planned slope angle of the slope.
  • In addition, it is possible to choose a different composition top coat corrugated board. The coating can be applied different technologies, and, accordingly, differ in quality, duration of operation and, of course, the cost of the material.
  • Another important advantage of corrugated board is the environmental friendliness of the entire range of materials used in its production. Roofs made of corrugated board, regardless of the duration of operation, are not capable of harming the environment. It is also important that the material is non-combustible.

Classification of corrugated board

Nowadays, manufacturers offer various types of corrugated board, designed for specific areas of application in construction practice. However, some of the types, due to their qualities, can be considered almost universal and used for a variety of purposes.

To determine the choice of material that is well suited for roofing, it is necessary to consider all the main types of corrugated board, as they are very often interchangeable.

When considering a specific type of profiled sheet, you should pay attention to its marking - it consists of several numeric and alphabetic characters indicating its purpose and main parameters.

Letter designations in marking

The first letter in the marking determines the strength properties of the material and its main area of application:

  • "H" - these are the most durable profiled sheets. In this case, the letter "H" indicates that this is a bearing type of corrugated board. This material has the highest wave height (corrugations) with additional grooves in its lower part - they give the sheets increased rigidity.

In addition, the bearing corrugated board differs from other varieties in the largest thickness of the metal sheet. Therefore, it is used for residential buildings, the construction of walls and roofs of large hangars, fences, the manufacture of heavy containers, the construction production shops, warehouses, garages, gates and other structures that must have a high mechanical strength, reliability, durability.

  • "NS" is "bearing-wall" profile material, and it can be safely called almost universal, as it is used for a variety of purposes. This type of corrugated board is distinguished by an average level of metal thickness and wave height.

Such material is used for the construction and cladding of walls, for roofing, fences, sheds, other household, industrial and utility buildings are erected from it, wickets and gates are made. By their own performance characteristics this type of corrugated board can be called intermediate between the carrier and wall material, but its cost is much lower than that of the carrier.

  • "C" - wall corrugated board. It is used for the construction of light outbuildings, wall cladding of residential buildings on top of the thermal insulation layer, for the manufacture of frame gates, fences and other structures.

Its wave height is low, therefore, the strength qualities for transverse bending are also small. The thinnest steel is used for many models, and it is not surprising that the cost similar material is also small.

However, many of the models of corrugated board of their category “C” are also quite suitable for roofing.

  • "MP" is another common type of corrugated board, which is characterized by good versatility and is ideal for both roofs and walls of outbuildings, and besides, it is used in the production of sandwich panels. What each of its modifications is intended for can be found from the digital and letter markings.

Galvanized MP decking is used to cover pitched roofs, partitions in industrial premises, as well as for suspended ceilings. This type of material is produced not only in galvanized form, but also with a polymer coating.

"MP"-profiled sheet is produced in three variations - these are types "A", "B" and "R".

So, for example, "MP-R" corrugated board is designed specifically for roofing, and types "A" and "B" are more suitable for fences and wall cladding. Type "R" differs from "A" and "B" in the size of the corrugations, in particular, in that the base of the wave to it is smaller, and the distance between the waves is wider, while the opposite is true for wall sheets. This profile will make it easier for storm water to flow down.

In addition, thanks to such parameters, the roofing type "R" surpasses the wall profiled sheet in terms of bending strength, and is able to withstand high static loads. Types "A" and "B", in turn, better resist wind dynamic effects.

The wall types of this corrugated board differ from each other in that "A" is made with protective coating only from the front side, and type "B" coating - is negotiated at the time of order. Therefore, in the second variant, color layers may be completely absent, or they may be applied on one or both sides of the sheet.

Decking "MP" - the difference between wall ("A" and "B") and roofing "R") profile

Profiled "MP" is manufactured with a corrugation wave height of 18 or 20 mm.

Numerical designations in marking

So, in product labeling for letter designation followed by numerical values giving the necessary information:

  • The first number indicates the height of the wave in millimeters.
  • The second digital value indicates the thickness of the sheet steel from which the corrugated board is made - this parameter is also given in millimeters.
  • The third group of numbers gives information about the useful width of the sheet in millimeters, that is, taking into account the overlap of the waves when laying the coating. This parameter is always somewhat smaller than the actual dimensions of the sheets, which should be remembered, for example, when organizing the transportation or storage of material.
  • The length of the sheet may not be indicated, since when ordering material for certain needs, it can be any, at the request of the customer and according to the capabilities of the manufacturer. However, often in the price lists, the limit value of the length is still given, also in millimeters. For example, the last group of numbers might be 12000.

Thus, the marking of corrugated board may look, for example, like this:

C10-0.5-1100- this suggests that the wall-type corrugated board, having a wave height of 10 mm, is made of a sheet 0.5 mm thick, with a useful width of 1100 mm.

Another marking example:

MP-18-0.7-1000V- this is a corrugated board with a wave height of 18 mm, made of steel sheet 0.7 mm thick, useful width 1000 mm, made of uncoated galvanized steel, but it can be applied at the request of the customer on one or both sides.

Sheet thickness, wave height, corrugated board weight

It is necessary to highlight the question of what the minimum and maximum thickness of the metal sheet from which the corrugated board is made can be, as well as what mass the sheets of roofing material can have - this is extremely important for the roof structure.

  • The thickness of the metal sheet is:

- in varieties "H", "NS" and "C" can vary from 0.4 mm to 1.2 mm;

- "MP-R" - from 0.4 to 0.8 mm;

- "MP-A" and "MP-V" - about 0.4 to 0.7 mm.

The strength of the material, its resistance to the loads characteristic of the roof - wind and snow - directly depend on this parameter.

  • It is necessary to choose the right wave height of the corrugated board, since this parameter also determines the rigidity of the material and the reliability of its fit and fastening to the crate roofing system. Usually, corrugated board with a wave height of at least 18 mm and up to 60 ÷ 75 mm is used for roofing. True, the upper value cannot be considered the limit; more can be used. high material, but the only question is the appropriateness of such an approach.

The height of the wave affects not only the strength of the material, but also the quality of water drainage from the roof during rain. Profiled sheets "NS" and "H", having grooves in the lower part of the wave, are more resistant to various loads, therefore, when choosing a roofing material, it is recommended to give preference to them.

We must not forget that in winter, accumulations of snow can form on the roof, which the coating must withstand. In addition, the roof must withstand the weight of a person, since it will have to be climbed more than once for various reasons.

The table below shows the main types of corrugated board with an indication of the characteristic areas of their application:

corrugated board

  • An important parameter, both for organizing the delivery of material to the construction site, and for assessing the possibility of performing roofing work manually, without the use of special lifting equipment, is the mass of sheets of corrugated board, which depends on the thickness of the metal, the configuration features of the profile and its coating. This parameter can vary significantly - in the range from 5.4 to 17.2 kg / m².

The table of weight parameters of the bearing "H" corrugated board is given below:

What type of protective and decorative coating of corrugated board to choose?

The durability of the operation of the roofing material largely depends on what kind of coating is applied to it, and how high quality it is. Therefore, it is necessary to consider the main varieties of such coatings.

Galvanized corrugated board

Galvanized is made from cold-rolled steel with a zinc coating, sheet thickness 0.4 ÷ 1.3 mm.

  • The first step is zinc coating of "black" steel - this layer is the main barrier in protecting the metal from corrosion.
  • After galvanizing, the zinc layer is passivated, that is, it is covered with an oxide film, which also effectively prevents the development of corrosion.

  • Further, the sheets enter the roll forming machine, where they are given a trapezoidal or wavy profile with a wave height of 8 to 180 mm, depending on the purpose of the corrugated board. The result is a finished sheet made in accordance with GOST. After that, the material can be sent for sale, or a protective polymer coating is applied to it.

Today it is possible to purchase roofing material coated with a modified anti-corrosion compound - aluminozinc or aluzinc, consisting of 43% zinc, 55% aluminum and 1.6% silicon. The corrugated board with such a coating does not differ much in price from the usual one coated only with zinc, however, it has much greater resistance to various aggressive influences, and therefore is more durable.

Simple galvanized corrugated board is rarely used for - as a rule, it is used for garages and various outbuildings, since in these cases economy issues usually come to the fore, prevailing over decorative effect. For houses and cottages, material with protective polymer coatings is more often chosen.

Previously, many owners, when purchasing a galvanized profiled sheet, tried to apply coloring compositions to it on their own. Today there is no need for this - you can choose its color for every taste, depending on the general facade design of the house.

Decking with a protective and decorative polymer coating

Roofing material, protected by one of the high-quality polymer coatings, dramatically adds to the "longevity" - its service life is from 25 to 60 years or more.

Polymer coating technology

The polymer coating is designed to protect the roofing material from external natural, chemical and mechanical influences.

The maximum duration of operation is ensured by a protective coating consisting of several layers and applied using modern technological processes.

The method by which one of the polymer coatings is applied to the metal will directly depend performance corrugated board. polymers can be applied different ways, but the stages of such a process are approximately the same:

  • Galvanized sheets are degreased and dried.
  • Further, the metal is subjected to a priming process, which significantly increases the adhesion of the galvanized layer to the polymer.
  • Then, a polymeric color coating is applied. Its thickness can vary from 25 to 200 microns. This layer is usually applied to the front side of the profiled sheet, and its lower side is often covered only with a layer of protective varnish.
  • At the next stage, the sheets enter special chambers, where, under the influence of high temperatures, the processes of final polymerization and strengthening of the protective coating take place.

The most common method of applying a polymer layer is powder. The coloring process takes place in a special chamber. At this stage, a positive constant charge is passed through the metal electric current, after which a fine powder of a certain color is sprayed onto its surface, which is given a negative charge. Under the influence of the created electromagnetic field, the powder particles are attracted to the metal sheets. Then, the sheets enter the thermal chambers for the final polymerization of the coating.

This coating method contributes to the creation of a more resistant layer on the metal surface compared to liquid coloring. This is due to the fact that coloring composition very evenly distributed on the metal surface, which significantly reduces the risk of defective corrugated board.

Profiled sheets with a polymer-powder coating are highly resistant to all kinds of negative impacts, therefore, their service life is much longer than that of corrugated board coated with liquid formulations.

By the way, another fact speaks about the strength of the polymer coating.

galvanized corrugated board

Sheets after painting are usually immediately shipped to consumers - companies that are already engaged in the manufacture of corrugated board on the ground. Of course, shipping protective packaging is usually provided for this.

But already in the process of corrugated board production, the material is passed through the rollers of machines that form desired profile, that is, the metal experiences considerable loads and internal stresses. However, a high-quality protective coating from such exposure is not damaged at all.

Varieties of polymer coatings

Since polymeric decorative and protective coatings can be different, it makes sense to consider their features. So, what are they, and what qualities do they have

So, the following polymer coatings can be applied to the roofing corrugated board: polyester, pural, matte polyester, PVDF and plastisol.

  • Polyester

A profiled sheet with a similar coating has the most affordable price, therefore, it has become the most demanded material, both for roofing and for the construction of fences and gates. Polyester is resistant to ultraviolet rays, so it practically does not change the original color for for long years. The material is resistant to corrosion processes and temperature extremes, but its disadvantage is the small thickness of the applied polyester, which is easily damaged by mechanical action - the same scratching.

Before buying this material, it is recommended to conduct an experiment to check the quality of the coating. To do this, you can try to bend the edge of the corrugated sheet - from such an impact, polyester should not be covered with cracks or small folds.

  • Matte polyester

Matte polyester is slightly different in composition from the glossy version. Since the coating is rough, it scatters light and does not give glare. The technology is such that the composition is applied unevenly, so it is quite difficult to determine the exact thickness of the layer. But in any case, it turns out to be quite large, and such a coating significantly exceeds the glossy counterpart in terms of surface and anti-abrasive strength.

This coating quality allows us to hope for a longer service life. roofing.

Quite often, it is with the use of matte polyester on the surface of corrugated board that they imitate textured patterns of stone, wood or brickwork.

  • Pural

Pural is a protective multipolymer composite that is made from a polyurethane-based composition with the addition of polyamide and acrylic. It makes the roofing material more durable, serviceable for 50 years without losing its basic protective and decorative qualities.

Pural is applied with a thickness of 50 microns and has excellent adhesion to metal, so it is quite difficult to damage it, since it is resistant not only to mechanical stress, but also to chemicals, to temperature changes, to diverse external influences of a natural or technogenic plan. Therefore, it is well suited for use in metal-corrosive environments such as high humidity or air pollution from industrial emissions.

Decking with a wear-resistant polymer coating - pural

The disadvantage of corrugated board with a pural coating can be called it high price, which is several times higher than the cost of sheets protected by ordinary or matte polyester. Most often, a profiled sheet covered with a pural is used specifically for roofing or facade decoration residential buildings.

There are two options for the pural finish - smooth glossy and matte.

  • Plastisol coating

Plastisol is made from polyvinyl chloride with the addition of plasticizers. It is applied with a layer of about 200 microns. Due to this thickness, this material is highly resistant to mechanical and chemical influences, as well as to some natural phenomena.

However, plastisol has significant disadvantage- it does not respond well to elevated temperatures, so it is not recommended to use it in climatic zones with hot summer climate. In addition, this protective coating is not resistant to ultraviolet rays, therefore, being under their influence, it quickly loses its original color. If corrugated board with this coating is purchased, it is recommended to choose bright hues, as they fade less in the sun under the influence of ultraviolet rays and don't get as hot.

Many choose corrugated board with this protective coating because it is made with relief surface imitating the textured pattern of various natural materials such as wood, a cut of stone, or the surface of leather. Such a design usually has a matte surface that does not give glare, so the color seems deeper and richer, which gives the material a respectable appearance.

Plastisol-coated corrugated board is most often used in cold regions with an aggressive climate or in industrial areas, as well as where there is a high probability of mechanical damage to the roof from natural phenomena, for example, in areas where dust storms or hail often occur.

  • PVDF coating

PVDF is also a composite coating, as it consists of 20% acrylic and 80% polyvinyl fluoride. Thanks to the complex of these materials, the metal is provided with the highest degree of protection against any kind of influences, including ultraviolet rays. Such corrugated board is used for finishing facades and roofing, as it retains its original appearance for 45–50 years. PVDF coated metal sheet can be used in all climate areas, regardless of the features environment, as it is inert to industrial air pollution, as well as to humid, including "salty" maritime climate.

As is clear from the presentation, all types of coatings mentioned above are capable of performing the functions of protecting the metal sheet, but to varying degrees. The table below allows you to more clearly compare the qualities of protective and decorative coatings, so that it is easier for the consumer to make a choice:

The main criteria for choosing corrugated board

As a generalization of all the above, it makes sense to highlight the points that need to be addressed Special attention when choosing a corrugated board for arranging the roof of your home.

sheeting with protective coating

  • The material must be marked "H", "NS" or "MP-R", and if it is selected for a residential building, then an average sheet thickness of 0.5 ÷ 0.8 mm will be sufficient.
  • It is recommended to purchase roofing material with a powder coating. The polymer with which the coating is made is chosen independently, taking into account those features that were emphasized above, taking into account the climatic and other conditions of the region or even a specific locality.
  • Particular attention should be paid to the quality of the corrugated board coating:

- the surface of the roofing sheets must be smooth, without dents and scratches;

- the edges of the sheets should have even cuts, without burrs;

- the protective colored polymer layer must be uniform, without chips and sagging;

- when the profiled sheet is bent, its coating should not crack, break or gather in folds, and the sheet itself should easily take its original shape when unbent.

  • In addition, you should pay attention to the warranty provided by the manufacturer. For example, the certificate may indicate a service life of corrugated board of 30 years or more, and the guarantee is given for only a year or even completely absent - in this case, it is recommended to refuse to purchase such products.
  • If given the opportunity, then the the best way- purchase corrugated board directly from its manufacturer or from authorized dealers - this moment will significantly reduce the likelihood of acquiring low-quality material.
  • In addition, it is worth considering the reputation of the manufacturer and seller. You should not buy corrugated roofing in a small store on construction market, since in this case the risk of running into the products of an unscrupulous manufacturer is quite high.
  • According to the rating of manufacturers, there are several domestic and foreign companies that deserve positive reviews- these are Russian enterprises producing high-quality sheet steel, such as Novolipetsk NLMK, Severstal and Magnitogorsk MMK, as well as European manufacturers of roofing materials, which present their products at Russian market– RUUKKI, Thyssen Krupp, Arcelor, Galvex.

When choosing corrugated board, it must be remembered that roofing is a rather laborious and expensive process, and they are usually carried out once every few decades. Therefore, it will be very unpleasant if you have to do this again and spend a lot of money in a year or two due to poor-quality corrugated flooring, which can crack and peel off under the influence of natural or other factors.

Video: corrugated board - an excellent solution for roofing a house

When preparing a series of articles on modern building materials we could not deprive the attention of corrugated board as an extremely popular facing wall or roofing metal sheet. Despite the deceptive simplicity, with regards to the characteristics and features of the profiled sheet, many questions arise even among those who work with it professionally. Let's finally take a closer look at the brainchild of the English engineer Henry Palmer, who is credited with the invention of the profiled sheet back in 1820.

Kinds. What is it made of and where is it used?

Profiled sheet is made from rolled sheet steel with different height corrugation, thickness, width and length of the sheet. Profiling of the steel base provides rigidity to the profiled sheet without increasing the weight, and galvanic treatment - an attractive appearance and protection against corrosion.

Structure. Find out what's inside

Profile like everything else composite materials in the cut is a layer cake. At the base is a steel sheet that can be coated with:

    Galvanization

    Density of drawing 275 gr/sq.m. Thickness from 90 µm according to DIN EN 10143. Guarantee for galvanizing 5 years. Service life - up to 20 years.

    Aluzinc coating

    Corrosion resistance is 2 times higher than that of standard galvanized steel. It has a 10 year warranty. The estimated service life is up to 30 years.

    Polymer coatings

    Warranty 10 to 20 years. The service life declared by the manufacturer reaches 50 years

Marking. Learning to read characters correctly

Designation of corrugated board (for example, С25-0.60-700-11 000) contains all the information on its main characteristics.

The letter indicates the scope:

    H- bearing, roofing sheet.

    FROM- wall for walls and fences.

    NS- load-bearing wall material of universal application.

The figure is the height of the profile in millimeters.

Next is the thickness of the metal, which was used to stamp the sheet, in mm. GOST 24045-2010 this product is thin galvanized steel GOST 14918.

The third means the mounting width of the profiled sheet, mm.

Current GOST

The current regulatory document for steel profiles is GOST 24045. Over time, changes are made to the standards and there are the following common versions of this document:

GOST 24045-86, status: replaced;

GOST 24045-94, status: replaced;

GOST 24045-2010, status: valid.

According to the material of the initial workpiece, steel profiles according to GOST 24045-2010 have one category: thin-sheet galvanized steel according to GOST 14918.

According to the previous version of GOST, the galvanized sheet contained the following number of subcategories:

    sheets of galvanized steel GOST 14918;

    rolled sheets with aluminium-zinc coating (designated as АЦ) according to TU 14-11-247-88;

    sheets of aluminized rolled products and rolled products with aluminosilicon coating (denoted A and AK) according to TU 14-11-236-88;

    rolled sheets with electrolytic zinc coating (designation EOCP) according to TU 14-1-4695-89.

The main dimensions of the metal profile

For roofing

At roof type wave height is 2 and more cm. Moreover, the profile can be of complex shape, which provides additional rigidity to the product.

According to sales statistics of construction hypermarkets, the choice of the consumer is C 44 And H57 750. The latter was taken as a basis in GOST 24045-94 in calculations bearing capacity roofs.

The length of the sheets can be any. Roofing material brand H57 the width is 75 cm, H60 - 84.5 cm, H75 - 85 cm. For load-bearing and roofing sheets, the corrugation height is 3.5 - 4.4 cm. Product thickness brand "N" is equal to 0.6 - 0.9 mm.

For fence

As can be seen from the table above, almost every type is suitable for the installation of fences and the key selection criterion is usually the economic considerations of the owner.

The fence type has a small ridge height and thickness. Sheet C10 equal in width 90 - 100 cm, C18, C21 and C44 - 100 cm. For wall finishing sheets, the width is from 1.3 cm. Then the height of the corrugation of each subsequent type will increase by 3.25±0.25mm. Grade "C" sheet is the lightest and thinnest - 0.5 - 0.7 mm.

How much does it weigh

The type of sheet greatly affects its weight. With the growth of the “wave” of the profile and the thickness of the sheet, the mass increases. Weight is the main advantage of this product. On average it 1 m2 weighs 7 - 11kg. If this area is covered with tiles, then it will be needed 43 kg. Weight 1 m2 stamp sheet "FROM" equals 5.5 - 7.5 kg.

There are special tables in which, as a function of the brand, thickness and width of the sheet, the mass is shown 1p. m.. or 1 m2 material. To calculate the weight of the flooring, you can also use one of the weight calculators that can be easily found on the Internet.

Patterns and texture of decorative profiled sheet

The drawing on the sheet is printed on polymer material and under the action of temperature, they are sintered with the metal, forming a shell that protects the metal and the image.

Drawings are panoramic and solid. Such material is used, in addition to fences, for finishing the basement or the entire building (profiled sheet under stone, wood, brick, etc.).

New technologies protect images from fading in the sun and external environment. According to the manufacturers, the pattern will not fade 15 years.

Coloring of profiled sheet

Of course, works of art like this delight the eye and evoke a sense of beauty, but the cold mind mercilessly attacks the song's throat and demands to resolve the issue in the style of Tom Sawyer, and most likely "already yesterday".

Like other leaf parameters, its color is normalized. The most famous color standard is the scale RAL.

Today it includes 213 colors and each has a 4-digit numeric code. This makes it easier to match the color of products regardless of the manufacturer.

In a profiled sheet, usually only the front side is painted. But under the order they are also produced with double-sided coloring.

Colors according to RAL scale

The photo shows an example of painting a fence according to colors according to the RAL scale

Very easy to order desired color without a visit to the construction base. We poke a finger in the color we like, call the manager and call the unique code from the table. Then it remains only to meet the Gazelle with the material on its site.

What you need to know if you do it yourself

How to cut

The material is perfectly cut with ordinary scissors for metal, electric or manual jigsaw, hacksaw, grinder.

Hole Punch Tool

You can always make something with a hammer and improvised devices. But the one who at least once held a specialized tool in his hands is unlikely to refuse it. To your attention special pliers punching holes Ø 10.5 mm in sheet thickness up to 1.2 mm under brackets for ventilation, drainage, etc.

This easy-to-use tool facilitates installation thanks to its wide opening and adjustable gripping depth. Usually pliers have a set of interchangeable punches.

Profiled sheet seals

For their manufacture goes wood-polymer composite, polyethylene foam and polyurethane foam. They copy the wave of the sheet and prevent moisture, dust and insects from getting into the cracks.

Since the sealant has a porous structure, it does not interfere with air circulation and the removal of moisture from under the roof, as well as the settling of condensate from the bottom of the coating.

Seals are distinguished:

    self-adhesive universal (soft) - suitable for all types of products with a wave up to 20 mm;

    special types used for given type sheet.

What is the best way to mount?

self-tapping screws

To fasten the sheets to the crate, use a pneumatic or electric drill. Self-tapping screws are tightened observing the tightening torque. Their average consumption for the installation of flooring - 5 - 6 pcs/m2.

Rivets

As can be seen from the comparison picture, riveting with a construction gun looks more aesthetically pleasing.

The flooring is fastened with special rivets for these products, since the use of other rivets leads to poor-quality fastening and reduces the service life.

Rivet diameter ( 3.2 - 6.5 mm) is selected according to the thickness of the sheet. For the manufacture of this fastener is a special aluminum and galvanized steel.

For profiled sheet construction, where design is important, colored fasteners can be used.
