A potbelly stove from a gas cylinder is being worked out. Waste oil stove: assembling a structure from a gas cylinder

Various ovens for heating, made independently, are quite popular today. Because you don't have to spend a lot on them. Money and they are very efficient. Waste oil stoves are just such units that are installed for heating a house, garage, bathhouse, workshop, greenhouse or other outbuildings. Do-it-yourself furnace drawings for working out are quite understandable and there are no complex structures there, so anyone who wants to make such a unit can do it quite well.

Often, stoves are made on used oil for a bath. This is a great option, as the unit will not only quickly heat the air in the bath, but also the water. Furnace equipment for a bath is usually quite expensive, and such a do-it-yourself design is quite effective and cheap.

unit design in development

Principle of operation

The design of the waste oil furnace consists in the presence of two tanks connected by a burner pipe (Fig. 1). One tank is at the bottom and the other is at the top. The lower tank is the primary combustion chamber, in which the oil is actually placed, where it boils, and gases are released that continue to burn in the connecting pipe.

The connecting pipe must be provided with holes (fig. 2). The diameter of these holes becomes about 1 cm. Air enters the burner pipe through these holes, with which the vapors mix and ignite with renewed vigor. In the upper tank, the oil vapors burn out and the combustion products are removed through the chimney.

There must be a hole in the lower tank through which air enters the combustion chamber, and also through which oil is poured. There should be a damper on this hole, it regulates the intensity of combustion. Can be made different models ovens. Quite often, drawings of a square furnace are used for mining (Fig. 3).

Also, do-it-yourself furnaces are often automated for mining, for example, by adding air compressor booster and fuel pump.

Rice. 4

It should be noted that the layout of the furnace for mining can be different, for example, made from a gas cylinder, with a water circuit, the tanks can be round or square.

This design has many advantages. The main ones can be noted:

  • Versatility. The design of this oven is so arranged that it is possible not only to heat the room, but also to cook food (Fig. 5).
  • Cheapness in the manufacture of the furnace and cheapness of fuel. Although used-type oil is not available everywhere in such volumes.
  • Design reliability.
  • The efficiency of the heating process.

Making a furnace for mining from a gas cylinder

The gas cylinder is ideal for making a furnace out of it, that is, its shape, thickness. Especially often this design is used in the bath. For this you need the following materials:

  • Standard type gas cylinder: 50 liters, its walls should be about 1.5 cm thick, since if the wall is thicker, the device will heat up longer.
  • Sheets of steel. This is necessary for the manufacture of a container from which oil will flow.
  • Galvanized chimney pipe.
  • Pipes for the burner.
  • Steel corners for legs.

To make a waste oil furnace, you need a drill, an angle grinder, a welding machine, as well as a set of locksmith tools, a tape measure, and a level.

The drawing of the furnace for mining from a gas cylinder is very important in the design. To start gas bottle must be empty, it must be opened, since the remaining gas remains exactly the same. You also need to drain all the condensate. Clean the bottle with water several times. Cleaning should only be carried out outdoors and never indoors.

Next, you need to cut off the top. In order to put exactly marks for the cut, you can draw water into a cylinder and bury it in the ground up to half. The cut is made at an angle. grinder, that is, a grinder, along with water inside. Next, water will begin to flow through the incision, it is worth waiting for the excess water to flow out, after which the top is completely cut off.

According to the drawing of the waste oil furnace with your own hands, you should then make a hole for the chimney. It is done on the cylinder body at a distance of 10 cm from the top. The diameter of this hole should be the same as the chimney pipe. Horizontal pipe (about 40 cm) is welded welding machine to the cylinder, and already a vertical part is attached to it, which should reach at least 3.5 m.

Rice. 7 The chimney of the unit is being worked out.
Finishing the ceiling above the stove in the bath

In the case above the bottom, you need to cut a hole for blowing. It has rectangular shape. And then a door is attached to it to adjust the intensity of combustion. A container for testing is installed at the bottom of the cylinder. It can be made from a pipe with a diameter of 17 cm, a height of about 10 cm can be taken. The bottom must be welded to this pipe with a sealed seam. From a sheet of steel, you need to cut a lid for a container with oil. It should have 2 holes: one for the burner pipe - 10 cm, the second for supplying fuel and air 4 cm. In this design, as well as in other drawings and assemblies of waste oil furnaces, a valve is needed for the fuel supply hole.

The burner pipe must be as high as a gas cylinder. One end must be welded to the lower combustion chamber, and to the second a round piece cut from a sheet of steel. The diameter of this part is equal to the diameter of the balloon.

Also, holes with a diameter of 1 cm should be drilled on the pipe with a drill; there should be about 40 of them, they are arranged in rows. Further, the entire resulting structure is placed in a balloon. The chimney hole must be located above the top round piece. The cylinder cover, which was previously cut off, is welded to the resulting structure from above.

You also need to weld the legs from the prepared corner to the cylinder. Now you can pour mining into the finished design, made by yourself, through the blower door.

Often in the manufacture of waste oil furnaces, a different method of supplying oil is used. For example, a branch pipe is launched through a burner pipe with a diameter of about 2 cm, into which another one is cut at an angle. An oil container can be connected to the second pipe. This design is done by hand.

Rice. eight

Furnace with water circuit

The scheme of the waste oil furnace with a water circuit is quite simple. The design has a pump supplying fuel to the combustion chamber. Oil (working out) is in a separate container. When the oil is fed into the chamber, it begins to evaporate, and the vapors rise into the burner pipe, where intensive combustion occurs and, as a result, the water in the water jacket is heated. In such a working device, drip scheme fuel supply.

In the upper part there is a container with water, which is heated. Already from this container, an exit is made to the heating circuit (above), and through the second hole (below), the already chilled water returns to such a hand-made boiler. The pipes that enter the water tank should be 4 cm in diameter. For such a system, you first need to assemble the pipeline and radiators.

Installation Requirements and Safety

Knowing how to make a working oven is not all. It is very important to know all safety rules and installation requirements as this oven is a fire hazard. The main rule in the manufacture is to adhere to the schemes and drawings of the waste oil furnace made earlier. You should also make the unit only from high-quality, and, of course, heat-resistant materials, desired thickness.

The chimney should only be vertical position, during assembly, it is allowed to adhere to a slope of 300-400. The thickness of the flue pipe must be at least 3 mm. The chimney must be closed with a visor that will protect it from rain. Do-it-yourself installation of such a furnace implies absolutely flat surface, this is important, because the oil level in the lower reservoir must be even and not reach the top.

Before installing a finished structure, you need to take care of the place where it will stand. Be sure to make heat-resistant protection, that is, install asbestos or steel sheets on the walls. You can put the unit on brickwork, flooded cement mortar. There should be free space around the stove, about 50 cm.

Maintenance of the furnace during working out consists in cleaning the chimney from soot and soot and the oil tank.

It should be noted a few points that absolutely cannot be done:

  • Do not use flammable substances during operation, especially as fuel. This can lead to a fire in the unit, and then to an explosion. Only oily substances (fuel oil, kerosene, etc.) can act as combustion catalysts.
  • It is impossible to leave the furnace on working out in the process of burning without supervision for a long time.
  • You can not use the stove with an improperly made chimney, and even more so without it at all.
  • Do not extinguish or cool the unit with water. In case of emergency, extinguish the stove only with a fire extinguisher. When installing such a unit, it is imperative to acquire fire extinguishers.
  • The oven must not be used if it is malfunctioning, for example, if it smokes, smokes, etc. it is not safe for human health.
  • You can not close the air intake, you need to make sure that this does not happen by accident.
  • Do not use used oil that is too contaminated or has water in it. Contaminated fuel should be filtered or settled and only then used.
  • Do not install the unit in a draft, under the shelves on which there are any things, near the curtains. All of this can cause a fire.

Transformer, transmission, motor, depreciation oils are suitable as fuel for a working furnace during mining. If the refueling of the unit is portioned, then it is forbidden to add oil during the combustion process. Refueling of mining occurs only after the complete burnout of the previous portion and the cooling of the unit.

Among the options autonomous heating premises, the most interesting can be called a special type of potbelly stove, which uses used oil. Doing it yourself is not difficult, since the design is relatively simple, and the tools and materials necessary for work are quite affordable. During the operation of the unit, special problems also usually do not arise. The main advantage, of course, is savings, because what can be cheaper than used oil?

The principle of operation of such a stove

In such stoves, the combustion process occurs twice, that is, it will be necessary to equip two combustion chambers. In the first chamber, the used oil burns slowly, and combustible vapors are formed. They enter the second chamber, where they mix with air. This gas-combustible mixture burns in the second chamber, and it releases a significant amount of heat, heating up to very high temperatures.

In a do-it-yourself waste oil furnace, combustion processes occur at fairly high temperatures. The unit is considered quite safe, but it is not recommended to put it in a draft

In order for a homemade waste oil stove to work correctly, it is necessary to provide air supply to both the first and second chambers. Where mining is burned, a control damper is needed, since the amount of air entering here should be moderate. To provide air to the second chamber, usually a series of holes about 10 mm in diameter are made in the pipe connecting these two sections.

Autonomous heating can be provided by assembling a waste oil boiler. Detailed guide for installation you will find in our following material: .

Types of homemade structures

According to the type of construction of the furnace, mining can be divided into three types:

  • homemade units from sheet metal or gas cylinder;
  • supercharged structures;
  • drip fuel models.

The first option is a very simple device that craftsmen who have the skills to work with a welding machine make on their own. To do this, use a sufficiently thick sheet metal, metal pipes etc. The use of a gas cylinder can significantly reduce the operating time. There may well be gas residues in an already used cylinder. When cutting off the upper part, there is a danger of a small explosion. To prevent this from happening, it is recommended to pump water into the cylinder and only after that begin dismantling.

For a forced-air oven, you will need to install an additional fan. This is done in such a way that the main air flow falls on the second chamber. This ensures high-quality combustion of the fuel, and also contributes to the uniform and rapid distribution of the resulting heat throughout the room.

Depending on the design, the waste oil furnace can use conventional convection, an air heat exchanger or water heating in a boiler

Making your own drip fuel supply is quite difficult. Typically, industrial models are completed with such an element. This allows you to significantly save the consumption of used oil. Industrial units are efficient, compact, safe and relatively inexpensive. However, there are also homemade models, combining and drip system oil supply, and boost.

Making a stove from a gas cylinder

Making a sheet metal oven is not difficult. To do this, two combustion chambers are brewed, legs are attached to the bottom. Then they are connected by a pipe with holes, a vertical chimney is mounted on the upper combustion chamber, etc. However, all these operations require rather lengthy welding work. To reduce them, craftsmen successfully use gas cylinders. These containers have sufficiently thick walls to ensure both the fire safety of the structure and long term its operation.

Regardless of whether a balloon or sheet metal is used to make a furnace, a number of rules should be followed when creating a structure. They need to be taken into account when figuring out how to make a waste oil furnace.

  1. The air supply to the first combustion chamber must be made adjustable. For this, a conventional damper is suitable, which can be slightly opened to leave a gap of arbitrary size.
  2. The chamber into which waste oil is fed for burning is always made collapsible so that it can be easily cleaned.
  3. The chimney must be strictly vertical, horizontal or inclined sections are not allowed.
  4. To ensure good draft, the length of the chimney must be at least four meters.

Exist various options the use of a cylinder in the manufacture of a furnace for testing. The simplest one looks like this:

  1. From the cylinder you need to cut off the upper and lower parts.
  2. From the resulting halves, a collapsible combustion chamber for oil is made.
  3. Metal legs are welded to the bottom.
  4. A hole is made in the upper part of the first chamber, into which a piece of pipe with an adjusting plate is mounted. Through this opening, a regulated air flow will be supplied, as well as fuel.
  5. A hole is also made in the center, to which a pipe segment is welded connecting both combustion chambers.
  6. A series of air holes are made in this pipe.
  7. A secondary combustion chamber is made from the middle part of the cylinder and sheet metal, which is also welded to the connecting pipe.
  8. At the last stage, a chimney is made and installed.

To easily place the oven in the correct position on uneven surface, it is recommended to make legs that can be adjusted in height.

This is the easiest way to use a gas cylinder to create such a heater. The following diagram shows a more complex garage stove for testing. It uses a gas cylinder, while a pressurization system and drip fuel supply are installed.

This is a manufacturing option complex furnace on testing from a gas cylinder, which takes into account the possibility of organizing pressurization, and also a drip fuel supply system is installed

For heating small rooms, you can build a potbelly stove that will last more than one year:.

Although the device is not complex, it is still recommended to follow a number of rules when using it:

  1. To prevent oil from splashing out of the combustion chamber, do not fill the tank more than two-thirds.
  2. If the hot mining “boils” after ignition, reduce the air supply using the control damper.
  3. In order to maintain sufficient draft, both the oil tank and the chimney should be cleaned of dirt weekly.
  4. To remove soot upper part structures need to be hammered out.

Working furnaces are well-deservedly popular with car owners, as well as at service stations, in small car services, etc. With their help, you can successfully heat small and medium-sized rooms.

Many businesses in progress economic activity use different kinds oils - motor, transmission, transformer and even vegetable, which, after processing, need to be put somewhere. Such mining can become an excellent type of fuel if used in a special furnace. Yes, and it is easier for enterprises to give away or sell cheaply to consumers used oil than to recycle it. This article will discuss what are the types and advantages of using furnaces for mining, and how to make them yourself.

Advantages and disadvantages of using mining for heating

It should be noted that in terms of thermal power, a working furnace can be compared with electric heater 15 kW, which will require about 0.5-2 liters of fuel per hour.

The principle of operation of the furnace for mining from a gas cylinder is direct heating air. It is advisable to use such units in large rooms - winter gardens and greenhouses, garages, warehouses and repair shops. If in a car service, for example, there is always a large supply of used oil, then it can be used for heating - and there is no need to throw it away, and saving on resources.

Benefits of working out include:

  • lack of soot and burning during combustion;
  • Fire safety- only vapors burn, not the used oil itself;
  • ease of use.

This fuel also has a number of disadvantages, in particular:

  • Untreated used oil from a car service cannot be used in boilers due to the large amount of impurities, since the main elements of the unit will become clogged. This is fraught with serious consequences, up to an explosion. At home, cleaning is impossible. Therefore, you need to purchase a special prepared oil.
  • By law, all enterprises that accumulate a large number of waste oil must conclude agreements for its disposal with special firms. This is paid services. Therefore, it is unlikely that it will be possible to take working out from them completely free of charge.
  • At negative temperatures, mining freezes. Therefore, you need to find a place for storage for it, or deepen the container with oil into the ground, below the freezing level of the soil.

Types of waste oil boilers and furnaces

The greatest demand is for mining furnaces with a pyrolysis type of combustion and turbo burners. Pyrolysis ovens have two chambers. In the first chamber, the oil is heated and decomposed into components in the absence of air. The resulting vapors move to the second chamber, where, with full access to oxygen, they burn out, releasing a lot of thermal energy. By adjusting the oxygen supply to the chamber, the pyrolysis temperature can be controlled. Such ovens need periodic cleaning, and maintaining the desired temperature in automatic mode is impossible.

As for turbo burners, they work like diesel engines. Oil is injected into the combustion chamber, vapors are released and ignite. However, this type of boiler is extremely sensitive to the purity of the oil, moreover, it must be preheated.

Depending on the design, mining furnaces can be:

  • with drip oil supply;
  • with blowing;
  • made from a gas bottle.

Furnaces from gas cylinders

The most simple design at the furnace on waste oil from a gas cylinder. You can also use carbon or oxygen cylinders. Their main advantage is the large wall thickness, which ensures durability of the structure.

Such a furnace is designed for heating a room up to 90 m 2 in area. If desired, a water circuit can be connected to the heating boiler. Air injection is not needed, and the oil will spontaneously drain into the boiler. The height of the boiler body must correspond to the height of the flame so that the boiler does not overheat during operation.

To make an oil stove from a gas cylinder, you will need:

  • chimneys with an internal section of 10 cm, walls up to 2 mm thick and a length of 4 meters;
  • fuel tank with a capacity of 8-15 liters;
  • burner pipes;
  • metal corners;
  • welding with a set of electrodes;
  • drill and drills;
  • Bulgarian;
  • file;
  • tape measure and level.

Assembly technology

You will need a standard 50-liter seamless cylinder with walls no more than 1.5 cm thick. Thicker metal simply cannot warm up properly so that the oil begins to evaporate. Inside the combustion chamber, the temperature will reach 600℃.

To get rid of foreign odor, the container must be rinsed several times. After that, it is filled to the top with water and placed in a container or buried in the ground to securely fix it.

Using a grinder, cut off the top of the balloon. After cutting starts, water will start to flow out of it. When it drops to the level of the notch, you can continue to work. The lower part will be the combustion chamber of the stove for mining from a gas cylinder, and the upper part will become a lid.

From below, legs from corners of 20 cm in length are welded to the cylinder and placed vertically. From top edge the bottom of the cylinder should retreat 10-15 cm and cut a hole for the pipe with a cross section of 5-8 cm by welding. The length of this segment can be 2-4 meters. It is inserted into the hole in the cylinder and welded parallel to the floor.

As a chimney, you can use a pipe with thin walls, from 4 meters long, which must be located strictly vertically. In this pipe, you need to make a small window with a damper so that you can control the access of oxygen to the furnace on oil from a gas cylinder.

A hole with a cross section of 5-8 cm is also cut in the chimney in order to dock it with a pipe section already welded to the cylinder. The hole should be at a height of about 1 m from the floor.

From the bottom of the cylinder, 10 cm retreat from the place of welding and a hole with a cross section of 2-3 mm is cut by welding. Next, with an indent of 5 mm, you need to make 9 more holes up, so that the last one will be at a height of 50 cm from the bottom.

Through the top cover, oil will be poured into the boiler for mining from a gas cylinder, so in this part you need to make a hole 5-8 cm in diameter.

Please note that only refined treatment should be applied in a gas bottle waste oil stove, as the fuel Low quality with impurities and alcohols can cause an explosion.

If you want to be able to heat food or water on the stove, you can weld a small square or rectangular platform made of steel sheet on the top cover of the cylinder. In addition, such a tray can also be attached to a pipe located parallel to the floor.

Operating procedure

The cylinder is filled with 2/3 working off, a sheet of paper is set on fire, placed on top of the oil and the furnace lid is closed. As soon as the temperature inside the oven reaches the desired values, the oil will begin to evaporate and the vapors will ignite.

Please note that for safety reasons, you should never add fuel to a working furnace. In addition, flammable materials, such as gasoline and kerosene, are also prohibited in such a unit.

When the fuel burns out and the stove cools down, residues are removed from it, and soot is removed from the lid by tapping on it.

Creating a boiler from sheet steel

Mining furnaces made of steel sheets are in demand among consumers. Their merit in compact size(70×50×35), low weight, as well as the ability to connect to heating system Houses. In addition, such designs are quite efficient in conditions of negative temperatures. On the surface of the oven, you can heat up or cook food.

The following consumables and tools are prepared for work:

  • sheet steel - 2 sheets of 4 and 6 mm thick;
  • chimney with a length of 4 m, an internal section of 10 mm, walls 4-5 mm thick;
  • steel, copper or tin pipe for the burner;
  • 4 metal corner 20 cm high;
  • welding machine with electrodes;
  • Bulgarian;
  • file, hammer;
  • roulette, level;
  • blueprints.

The procedure for manufacturing a furnace from steel sheets

First of all, you need to choose a suitable detailed drawing with dimensions. According to him, blanks for the furnace are made.

The elements of the fuel tank are made of steel 4 mm thick, but the tank cover and the bottom of the fuel chamber must be made of 6 mm steel.

The steel sheet is laid on a flat surface, markings are applied to it and the details are cut out with a grinder right size. Scale and sagging are cleaned off with a needle file.

A strip of 115 mm wide is cut out of steel 4 mm thick, which is bent on a machine into a pipe with a section of 34-34.5 cm. The ends of the sheet are welded by welding - this will be the pipe of the oil reservoir.

A lid for a container with oil (a circle with a cross section of 34.5 cm) is cut out of the same steel. This cover must be welded to the pipe. In addition, 4 legs from the corners are welded onto it.

A strip 6 cm wide is cut out of steel 6 mm thick. This strip is twisted into a ring with a section of 35.2 cm. A circle of the same diameter as the ring (35.2 cm) is cut out of the same steel. In the center of the circle, a hole with a cross section of 10 cm is cut for chimney. Stepping back from it 4 cm, cut out another hole, with a cross section of 5-6 cm for pouring oil. The prepared circle is welded to the ring. This will be the oil tank.

Another circle with a section of 35.2 cm is cut out of steel 6 mm thick. Stepping back a little from the edge of the circle, you need to cut a hole 10 cm in diameter. There should be about 11 cm between the center of the circle and the center point of the hole. A pipe will be inserted into this hole for docking with the chimney.

The branch pipe is made from a 10 cm pipe, its length is 13 cm.

Next, you need to cut a rectangular plate 7 cm wide and 33 cm long from 6 mm steel. It will serve as a barrier. The plate is welded inside the ring with a section of 35.2 cm closer to the hole for the nozzle. After that, an exhaust pipe 13 cm high is inserted into the hole.

The next step is the manufacture of the burner. On the pipe in the lower part, you need to make 48 holes 9 mm in diameter, placing them in 6 rows of 8 pieces each with an indent between them of 6 cm.

This pipe is inserted into the cover of the oil reservoir, which is cut from 4 mm steel. It is important to make sure that the pipe is level and tight. If necessary, you can adjust the level with a grinder and a file. After that, the parts are welded together, and the seams are cleaned.

An exhaust pipe 16 cm long is inserted into the oil filling tank.

Now the upper and lower parts of the tank can be connected, but not welded - just by inserting into each other. For strength, an o-ring with a cross section of 35.4 cm is put on top of the container. The level will help to check the horizontalness of the structure and the accuracy of joining the parts.

Next, the burner pipe is welded to the oil filling tank. On the other hand, a structure connected by a ring must be welded to it. Before starting welding, it is worth checking the levels and correct installation of the elements. A round valve must be attached over the oil filling hole.

A pipe 4 m long will serve as a chimney. Outside the house, the chimney must be located only vertically so that the wind does not blow into it.

Please note that the chimney cannot be mounted in a horizontal plane. Provided that the chimney is too long, it can be fixed with brackets or steel bends.

How to use the oven

To decorate the stove and make it more attractive in appearance, you can make a special paint. The proportions of the ingredients are as follows: per 500 g liquid glass you will need 200 g of aluminum powder and 20 g of chalk. There is a lot of paint, so you can proportionally reduce the amount of ingredients.

After vigorous shaking, all components are mixed, and the paint can be safely applied to the oven with an ordinary brush.

Pay attention to a number of safety rules during the operation of the furnace:

  • install the unit away from drafts;
  • flammable objects and substances should not be left near the stove;
  • there should be about 50 cm of clearance on all sides of the oven;
  • it is important to avoid getting water into the oil container, as this will cause the boiling fuel to splash through the burner;
  • the chimney must be hermetically connected to the unit;
  • only technical oil can be fuel for such a furnace.

The oven warms up to operating temperatures within 5 minutes. Mining is poured into the fuel tank for 2/3 of its capacity, and about 20-30 g of solvent or gasoline is poured on top. They set fire to the wick on the wire and through the hole for filling the oil, they set fire to gasoline with it. So the oil will heat up faster so that evaporation begins. When the vapors ignite in the burner, you can see a steady flame fueled by the incoming oxygen. With the help of a blower, you can slightly adjust the intensity of combustion.

Please note that a burning stove must not be left unattended.

- the problem is not the most important. But many car owners who often spend time with their iron friend try to make this pastime comfortable. Therefore, they think about which unit to install so that it is warm and the operating costs are minimal. One of these options is one that runs on used oil. Fortunately, this type of fuel is one of the cheapest and most affordable. Therefore, in today's review we will figure out what the stove is made of for working out with our own hands. Drawings, videos and photos will help to analyze in detail the entire production process.

Waste is a technical oil that is used inside automobile engines, drained from them after the end of its service life. That is, it is a 100% oil product, to which various additives are added to increase the service life of car engine parts rubbing together.

Under the influence of high temperatures and air, technical oil loses its technical properties. Therefore, it is changed to a new one with a certain frequency. It is the drained oil that is called used or working off. All oils that are used in car engines of any brand are combustible substances. That is why they are often used as fuel.

But burning in a flame, mining leaves behind a fairly large amount of waste, some of which is toxic. To reduce the concentration of such substances, the craftsmen came up with waste oil stoves, which operate on the principle of heating used oil. It is in the process of heating to high temperatures that the oil begins to decompose into components, some of which are combustible mixtures. It is they who burn in the fire, releasing a huge thermal energy. Of course, the presence of oxygen in this process is essential.

The principle of operation of the stove at work

Mining is on fire, and it was determined that this heavy, contaminated oil would be bad. Therefore, it must be split. There are two ways: with the help of oxygen, that is, to carry out oxidation, or by heating. The first option is discarded immediately, because this is not an idea at the household level.

The process of splitting is called pyrolysis. The simplest method is to use the combustion of the fuel itself. It should be noted that pyrolysis is a self-regulating and self-sustaining process. But before it starts, it is necessary to heat the mining to a temperature of + 400 ° C so that it begins to emit combustible vapors. As soon as this happens, pyrolysis will begin to support and control itself. And this is very good.

Therefore, a heater that runs on waste oil is not complex structure. In any case, it is no more difficult than an ordinary pan. Because, in fact, this is a container in which fuel is heated. It is in it that the pyrolysis processes take place. Main design feature such a unit is a pipe with many through holes. It is through it that combustible vapors rise, and through the holes it enters Fresh air enriching the vapor with oxygen. This mixture burns in the upper chamber, releasing thermal energy.

Disadvantages of the principle of burning waste oil to heat it

As practice shows, it is precisely such a furnace that is installed in garages during mining. But this design has serious drawbacks:

  1. This device operates with an open flame, which is unacceptable in rooms where petroleum products are stored.
  2. The metal surface of the stove heats up red hot. That is, such a unit is a high probability of burns and fires.
  3. If someone wants to get high thermal power stove, this is not an option. Such heaters can produce heat no more than 15 kW.
  4. It will not be possible to stop the combustion of fuel in this design on its own. It should burn out completely.
  5. It is impossible to extinguish such a furnace with a powder fire extinguisher. Powder that falls on hot metal immediately explodes. Therefore, only carbon dioxide fire extinguishers.

Attention! You can not install a view between the chamber, where the combustible mixture burns, and the lower tank, where mining is heated. Waste oil vapors are dense, they have high pressure when heated. Therefore, the fuel will boil all the time, no matter how they try to stop this process. If you additionally close the throttle, then the explosion is an inevitable process.

Therefore, it is very important to understand that a do-it-yourself waste oil furnace is primarily a welded structure. No assembly fasteners.

How to avoid shortcomings

So, the most dangerous part of the stove is the reservoir in which mining is heated. So perfect option- get rid of him. This problem has long been solved at the level of industrial boilers operating on fuel oil. What are special burners used for? It is in them that several processes of fuel combustion are combined at once, namely: pyrolysis, combustion and afterburning.

When the task is to make a burner for testing with your own hands, drawings are not needed for many craftsmen. Because its design is not very complicated, although the manufacturing specifics are quite subtle. There are several designs burners.

The simplest version of such a burner is a flame bowl. In fact, this is a plate heated to maximum temperature, on the plane of which waste oil drips. The fuel just flashes and immediately burns out. 100% effect. The main task is to heat the plate to the required temperature.

But, as practice shows, such burners still do not burn mining to the end. Therefore, the thicket is supplemented with a pipe with holes, where the residue of combustible vapors is mixed with oxygen. And all this is burned in the upper combustion chamber.

How to make a stove for working out with your own hands

As mentioned above, the main requirement for the device is the connection of parts and parts by welding. Therefore, owning a welding machine is a paramount necessity. And the better the skills, the more reliable the unit.

Furnace for working out from a gas cylinder: drawings and types of structures

There are a fairly large number of gas cylinder stove designs that run on waste oil. Consider the most popular models among garage owners.

The easiest option

This option is not only easy to manufacture, because the cylinder is a ready-made container that just needs to be finalized, but also high reliability welded joints. Where to start and what to do - the sequence of operations:

  1. It is necessary to open the valve and release the remaining gas from the cylinder. AT open state it should stay for a few days. It's best to flush the tank.
  2. The balloon is cut across in half of its length. You need the top.
  3. The valve is knocked off. You can do this with a sledgehammer if he suddenly does not unscrew.
  4. From sheet metal a pancake with a thickness of 3–4 mm is cut out with a diameter equal to the diameter of the balloon.
  5. It is welded to the cut edge.
  6. A piece 60–100 cm long is cut out of a pipe with a diameter of 100 mm.
  7. Holes with a diameter of 6-8 mm are drilled in order in it. There should be six holes along the perimeter, along - 8-10. That is, the number of holes is within 50 pieces.
  8. The pipe is welded to former place valve installation.
  9. Now, a little to the side on the cylinder cover, another hole is made with a diameter of 25–30 mm, to which a pipe of 32 mm and a length of 50 mm is welded. A shutter is installed on it. It is through it that the used oil will be poured into the furnace and the fuel will be ignited.

Attention! By opening and closing the damper, you can control the combustion process inside the fuel tank.

Such a small stove can not be equipped with an afterburner. It is enough to install a good inclined chimney.

Stove for working out from a gas cylinder with inflation

This is a more complex design in execution and manufacture, but more efficient than the previous one.

A photo Description of works

Air is evacuated from the propane tank through an open valve.

A hole is cut in the top cover at the location of the valve. This can be done simply by pre-drilling holes with a drill and a drill. A pipe will be welded to the hole.

Marking is made for two openings in the cylinder one above the other. Rectangular holes are cut out on them. The cut pieces will be used as doors.
To do this, ordinary loops are welded to them and the cylinder.

It should look like this.
A pancake with a diameter equal to the inner diameter of the cylinder is cut out of a metal sheet. It is done in the middle round hole for pipe 100 mm. Pancake is inserted between installed doors where it is welded. That is, it will perform the functions of a partition.

A perforated fixture is made from a piece of pipe 100 mm.
It is installed in the hole on the pancake so that the holes are inside the lower chamber.

Then, an air duct must be brought to the pipe, it can still be the same pipe through which air will be forced into the combustion chamber with the help of a fan. The chimney is connected to the side of the cylinder or next to the duct. The photo below shows a drawing that shows circuit diagram operation of such a device.

Do-it-yourself drip-type stove

The principle of operation of dropper stoves has already been mentioned above. In them, the main structural element is a bowl, to which fuel will be supplied in the form of drops. Feed rate will depend on bowl diameter and oven temperature setting. There are several types of such units. Some of them are shown in the photo below.

Of these, the first two positions are furnaces that operate in standard mode. The last two work with inflation. In this case, the fuel supply can be made from the side, as shown in the first three diagrams, or from above through the air supply barrel.

The manufacture of such a unit is carried out in almost the same way as in the previous case. But there are also some differences:

  • one door;
  • fire bowl.

Other types of stoves in development

Of course, a gas cylinder is an ideal option for making oil-burning stoves. But there are other materials, and not necessarily new ones, from which stoves are assembled. This can be a pipe with a wall thickness of at least 5 mm or sheet metal with a thickness of 4-5 mm. In addition, the masters offer various designs, which differ from each other by additional useful features. Let's consider some of them.

Waste oil furnace with water circuit

This is a more complex design, but it has one very great advantage before other models. With its help, you can heat not only the garage room, but also the water tank. And you can use it as a heating, which heats the room large sizes. That is, the stove is connected through a heat exchanger, where piping with installation is made.

There are three design modifications:

  • The heat exchanger, also known as the coil (in this case), is wound around the furnace from the outside. From three options- it is easier to perform.

  • A stove is assembled from a pipe, divided into two compartments: the lower one is a combustion chamber, the upper one is for water.

  • This is a water jacketed unit. That is, a space filled with water is left between the equipment case and the combustion chamber.

Furnace for mining open and closed type

What is the difference between the two models. Homemade oven in development open type- these are two chambers interconnected by a perforated pipe. The latter has open view, it is not protected by anything, and the air is taken directly through the holes into the afterburner. In this case, the pipe can be round section or rectangular.

Design closed type- This is a complete unit, hermetically sealed from all sides. An afterburner from the same perforated pipe is installed inside it. Only air is fed into it from above with the help of a fan. Basically, it's an oven. Truth, small sizes devices are not equipped with fans. The natural laws of physics operate in them, when air with a lower temperature flows by gravity into an area where the temperature is much higher.

Heaters and risers

As for the development, such designs have been known for a long time. They are even produced in the factory. The essence of the equipment is that the combustible vapors heated and combusted in the afterburner enter the heat exchanger, which is blown by a fan. That is, it is a 100% heater with maximum heat transfer efficiency. To understand what we are talking about, we suggest watching the video below, which shows one of the models of this type.

What is an insert? This is still the same furnace that runs on waste oil, and which you can do with your own hands according to the drawings. But there is one point why this unit is called that. The thing is that the insertion at the practice is intended as an addition. It's like an additional insert with which you can refuse. You won't get enough of the last winter.

An afterburner in the form of a pipe with holes connects the tank with liquid fuel to the furnace wood stove. The photo below shows how both chambers are interconnected by a curved afterburner.

How to make a boiler for working out with your own hands: drawings and video instructions

All previous positions answered the question of how to make a furnace for mining. Consider how to make a boiler. Although there is little difference between them.

A photo Description of works

This will require oxygen balloon which is cut in half. It is preferable to gas because it has a wall thickness of 10 mm.

Required for the boiler Bottom part cylinder, where the oil will be poured. That is, it will burn at the bottom.

The injector will be made of a 50x50 mm square tube with a wall thickness of 3 mm.

It will be necessary to make several holes in the pipe and install it inside the oxygen cylinder.

The end of the pipe will need to be cut off with a grinder at 45 °.

The whole pipe must be welded to the perforated pipe at an angle of 90°.

This is how it should be installed.

Under horizontal pipe a groove must be cut in the balloon. It is done so that the finished injector does not move relative to its place.

Carved groove in the balloon.

The injection pipe must now be welded to the cylinder. But if you have to do something with the boiler, for example, clean it from the inside, then the pipe will have to be cut off, and after cleaning or repair, weld it in place. Therefore, the injector can be made removable. A plate is welded to it, shaped like a curved cylinder. The fastening of the plate with the injector to the boiler will be carried out with two bolts through through holes. Bolt M6 or 8 will be installed with heads from the inside.

The lid for the boiler is made of steel sheet with a thickness of 6-10 mm. Be sure to weld around the perimeter of the skirt, which provides a tight pressing. A hole is made in the lid, closed with a peephole.

A pipe with a diameter of 114 mm is welded to the side of the boiler. This will be the chimney.

A hose from a vacuum cleaner is connected to the horizontal part of the injection pipe, which in this case performs the function of inflation.

Waste oil is poured from above. Ignition is carried out with kerosene or gasoline, also through the top. Watch the video of how this boiler was assembled.

How to properly operate furnaces in mining, how they should be serviced

Rules for the operation and maintenance of waste oil furnaces exist. And they must be followed:

  1. It is forbidden to fill the fuel tank with used oil more than 2/3 of its volume.
  2. For ignition, it is better to use paper or rags. It is better not to use flammable liquids.
  3. The operating mode of the unit must be set by a special damper located in the lower fuel tank.
  4. Cannot be used as fuel liquid substances because the design is only for burning oil.
  5. The optimal location of the stove is away from the walls, closer to the floor. It is better not to install it on high stands.
  6. Do not leave the device in operation unattended.
  7. The room in which such an oven will be installed must be equipped with a well-functioning.
  8. It is forbidden to store explosive and flammable substances near the device.
  9. Waste oil used as fuel must not contain water or antifreeze. They are at strong heat workings explode. Therefore, it is recommended to filter the oil before use.
  10. Do not add oil to the fuel tank until it has completely burned out. A new portion filled in will cool the mixture, which will stop burning.
  11. You can clean the oven with any accessible ways. The frequency is determined by the degree of contamination of the device.

If you want to make a furnace yourself, just take a used gas, oxygen or carbon cylinder. The wall thickness of such a tank is quite suitable for creating a durable heater capable of heating a room up to 90 sq. m. A structure made in this way can also be converted for connection to a water heating system.

Features of gas cylinder stoves

To maintain combustion in a homemade heating device there is no need to create conditions under which air would be supplied forcibly. At the same time, in order to prevent emergency and ensure safe heating of the cylinder, the water circuit must be installed at the height of the combustion source located inside the unit.
