We make a mosquito net with our own hands (34 photos). Mosquito net for windows: choose a ready-made one or make it yourself Do-it-yourself mosquito net kit

mosquito net can be made with your own hands for windows and doors of any size, taking into account the features of their configuration.

Standard element A plastic window has a lot of advantages, which is why people use and install an outwardly quite modern, homemade mesh on magnets in a wooden window.

A mosquito net has a certain service life, after which its design gradually begins to deteriorate.

As a result, you have to repair it, order a new one, or save money and try to make it yourself.

The article tells you how to make a mosquito net.

Manufacturing options, simple and complex

In order to protect against annoying insects, it can be used for both wooden and plastic windows.

The following materials will be required:

  • nylon material with small cells (1.2 mm);
  • Velcro tape (one side is pile, the other is hooks);
  • construction adhesive (for fixing the mosaic).

Before installing the mosquito net, degrease the surface around the perimeter inside the window opening. This is the mount that the adhesive tape will stick to.

Be sure to make sure that the future installation does not become an obstacle when the plastic window is closed.

Then do the following:

  • Divide the adhesive tape into two parts. Part with hooks, with reverse side, apply glue and glue it around the perimeter of the window opening. Let it dry and set more firmly;
  • Adjust the nylon material to fit the window opening, with an allowance equal to the width of the tape;
  • Fold the seam allowance, sew a ribbon to it with the nap facing outward;
  • Apply the finished mosquito net, edged with fleecy tape, to the tape with hooks glued to the window opening.

That’s how easy it is to make a mosquito net for a wooden or plastic window in a minimum amount of time. To do this procedure, you do not need a full-fledged repair.

The second option is more complex and involves attaching the mosquito net to the frame.

You can make a mosquito net from the following materials:

  • metal corners 4 pcs (width 1 cm);
  • plastic cable channel (box, size 15x10 mm);
  • construction adhesive, blind rivets(16 pcs);
  • thin nylon mesh the right size.

Let's start building the structure:

  • We shoot from outside Measure the window opening and make a frame based on the available data. To do this, mark on plastic box length and width future design. Using a knife, we cut off the required length of the vertical and horizontal frame parts, with a 45° cut. We grind the cut area with a sharpening stone;
  • Vertical and horizontal parts are matched in the desired position. We fix it at the corners with connecting metal corner using rivets (can be replaced with nuts and screws);
  • We put a mosquito net on the finished frame, with an allowance of 2-3 cm protruding beyond its perimeter;
  • We clamp the mesh on top with the cover of the plastic cable channel. During snapping, we alternate the long and short sides. To prevent the lid from opening, apply glue under it in some places. Trim any excess fabric sticking out.

The mosquito net is ready, all that remains is to install it in the window opening using Z-shaped brackets.

Features of the design of a mosquito door

A do-it-yourself mosquito net can also be made with magnets for a balcony or front door.

Additional plastic structures with a thin mosquito net are more suitable for a balcony.

While the front door will require the use of more durable materialmetal profile or wooden beams. Plastic options won't fit here.

Step-by-step instructions for making a mosquito net for the door:

  • We take accurate measurements of the opening and determine the size of the door leaf;
  • We prepare the horizontal strips, make them 6 mm smaller (this is necessary so that the door opens easily and does not rub against the opening);
  • We prepare the vertical strips, removing 3 mm from each side. They must dock with horizontal bars;
  • Using self-tapping screws we assemble wooden frame. During the assembly process, we check the correctness of the angles with a square, they must correspond to 90°;
  • To prevent the mosquito net from sagging, we measure two transverse slats and install them in the door parallel in the same plane with the same pitch inside the structure;
  • We install the finished door frame in the doorway, provide its temporary fastening with wood chips, while maintaining the uniformity of the existing gaps. To exclude unscheduled repairs, we fix the joints of the beams with corners for reliability;
  • Making sure that mosquito door fits under the doorway, mark the location of the hinges on it, after which you can remove the structure and install the hinges along the marked lines;
  • At the final stage, we stretch the mosquito net over the frame, with an allowance of 3 cm outwards, and fix it on the frame with a stapler. We cut off the excess nylon with scissors;
  • We install the finished door into the opening.

In the same way you can make a mosquito net using magnets. balcony door.

Features of restoration of mosquito nets

Repairing a mosquito-proof structure for a window involves several stages of action:

  • Removing the structure from the brackets, cleaning from dust and dirt;
  • Removing damaged nylon from the frame;
  • Installing a new mosquito net in the frame.

Before repairs are made and the damaged structural element is replaced with a new one, it is worth paying attention to how the material to be removed is fixed to the frame.

There are grooves made along the perimeter of the profile into which the edges of the mosquito cloth are laid. There are handles parallel to each other on both sides of the structure.

All this is secured around the perimeter with a sealing cord. After the seal is carefully removed, the holders and mesh can be easily removed.

Repairs should be carried out carefully and remember that you have to work with a fragile structure. Special attention should be paid to the handles so as not to damage them.

Replacing nylon is carried out by taking measurements from the old mesh, after which the required segment of material is cut off.

The new mosquito net is carefully pressed into the groove of the metal-plastic frame and secured with a silicone or rubber cord. Excess nylon material is cut off.

The repair is complete, the structure can be installed in its original location.

The weak point of a mosquito net for a window is the handles (holders) of the structure with which the net is installed.

Replacing the handle involves purchasing accessories and removing the sealing cord from the frame.

Step-by-step instructions on how to repair or replace a handle:

  • Pry the rubber band from the corner of the frame, remove it from the groove and guide it to the place where the handle is installed (including the installation area);
  • We remove the handle. In order for the holder to come out of the groove, it must be slightly pulled towards the corner;
  • We install new handles in its place, lightly pressing on top. A characteristic click will indicate that the handle installation was successful;
  • We place a sealing cord in the groove of the frame. In the area where the handle is replaced, the seal may be dented. To reduce this, you need to lather it - then it can easily return to the groove.

As you can see, repairing the design of a mosquito net for a window or balcony door - simple process, you can do it in a matter of hours.

This article will be of interest to those who have decided assemble a frame mosquito net with your own hands.

There is nothing complicated in this matter, just follow the instructions described below. YOU will not be able to buy a mosquito net for less than 1000 rubles. , and if you assemble it yourself from purchased material, the result will be much cheaper.

First step: measuring the mosquito net:

What you need to have to assemble a mosquito net, materials and tools:

The procedure for making a frame mesh

1. Cut the frame profile with a hacksaw or miter saw. Calculate size in the following way. Define external dimensions future finished mesh. Subtract 60 mm from the height and width of the mesh.
2. Cut off the crossbar profile by subtracting 50 mm from the width of the finished mesh.

Example. If the finished mesh has a size of 600x1600 mm, then the frame profile needs to be cut 540 mm and 1540 mm in two pieces. The crossbar for a finished mosquito net 600 mm wide will be 550 mm long.

3. Bring the profile into the corners, and with a light tap of the hammer, assemble the rectangular frame of the mosquito net.
4. Place the mosquito cloth on the frame so that it protrudes beyond the edges of the frame by 30–40 mm.
5. Using a slotted screwdriver or the back of a utility knife, thread the rubber cord into the profile groove on top of the blade. In this case, it is necessary to ensure that the canvas does not gather in folds or wrinkle.
6. Installation of handles. This can be done either immediately while rolling up the cord, or then, by lifting the cord at the place where the handle is installed, put it down and roll up the cord again.
7. The last step is to carefully trim the mosquito cloth protruding beyond the frame with a sharp stationery knife.

Installation of mosquito net

Tools and materials for installing a mosquito net yourself

You will need:
screwdriver or drill;
mosquito net fastenings and self-tapping screws with drill
if the screws do not require a drill, then you need a 3mm drill bit for metal
pencil

Procedure for installing a mosquito net.

Even if you couldn’t find materials for manufacturing and bought a ready-made one, you can easily install it yourself with your own hands.
To do this, we suggest proceeding as follows:
1. To the bottom window profile From the street side, attach 2 lower Z-shaped fasteners (they are smaller in size than the upper ones) and indicate the points for drilling with a pencil. Drill the profile and tighten the screws with a drill, screw size 3.9x16 or 3.9x19 mm.

To make the process easier, you can first glue the z-shaped fasteners to the window profile with double-sided tape, try on the mesh, and only then drill it.

2. Before tightening the screws, we recommend treating the connection with silicone sealant.
3. Attach the mesh to the outside of the window, installing it on the lower fastenings, and carefully check all dimensions again.
4. At the top of the window profile on the street side, install the top z-shaped fasteners. Here double-sided tape will help you out again. First attach the fasteners to it and then hands free tighten the screws. The easiest way to determine the height of their installation is by marking with a pencil the top of the mesh installed on lower mounts. Can go the hard way and calculate mathematically - the size from the supporting part of the lower bracket to the supporting part of the upper bracket should be 8 mm greater than the height of the mosquito net.
5. Having installed all the fasteners, take the mosquito net by the handles and hang it out the window. First lift the mesh and insert it into seat upper fasteners all the way to the stop. With correct calculations, the bottom of the mesh should pass almost flush over the lower fasteners. Then lower the mesh down onto the lower fasteners. Check whether it is firmly held in the grooves of the fasteners. If not, then you need to lower the upper fasteners to secure the mosquito net more tightly.

Video on assembling a mosquito net with your own hands

The need to protect housing from mosquitoes is present to varying degrees in all regions of Russia. This is especially true in the spring, when the need for heating has already disappeared, and it is too early to turn on the air conditioners, and the window sashes most days are in the open position.

The most effective and safest mosquito protection for residents is mechanical, that is, equipping windows and, if necessary, doorways devices with mesh fabrics that prevent insects from entering the home from the street.

These devices are produced various types, differing in design, functionality and, accordingly, price.

Window openings equipped with mesh

Considering the simplicity of the technical design protective devices budget class, let's look at how to make a mosquito net yourself.

In addition to serving as a barrier to insects from the street into the home, these protective devices must trap debris and, in part, dust. To cope effectively with these tasks, mechanical means Mosquito protection, commonly called mosquito nets, must have the following characteristics:

  • the functionality of the mesh canvas is to provide a barrier for insects and debris while maintaining sufficient light and air permeability, partial dust collection (especially important for lower floors);
  • environmental friendliness – absence of harmful emissions into the environment;
  • sufficient strength and resistance to impact weather conditions– wind, humidity, high temperature, ultraviolet rays;
  • operational safety;
  • ease of daily care;
  • aesthetics.

In some cases, this list may be supplemented with other properties, such as compactness, increased strength (“anti-catching”, anti-penetration), etc.

Manufacturing of simple protective devices

One of the two main components of mosquito protection (for sash versions) is the frame, which determines the geometry, dimensions and rigidity of the structure. The strength and durability of the protective device depends on the quality of the frame profile.

The second, no less important component of mosquito protection is a fine-mesh mesh fabric, from which the selection of materials begins, regardless of who makes the device - the home owner or an outside contractor.

Mesh Canvas Selection

Available means with similar characteristics include gauze fabric, gauze, old tulle curtains, fiberglass mesh (painting reinforcement) or fine-mesh construction steel wire.

Fine mesh fiberglass and steel woven mesh

The most environmentally friendly, but least durable of the listed materials is gauze (fine-mesh fabric made from cotton threads), which quickly becomes dirty and stretches, has a low degree of transparency, decomposes under the influence of bacteria and easily breaks under accidental load. Gauze for equipment window openings can only be used as a temporary means of protection against mosquitoes anywhere in summer kitchen or a country house.

Mosquito protection: on the left – made of tulle, on the right – made of gauze.

The remaining available materials also have individual disadvantages, but are more suitable for mosquito protection. Construction fine-mesh steel mesh (woven) made of thin wire with an anti-corrosion coating has also proven itself well.

Mesh canvases, produced specifically for protection against mosquitoes, are made from fiberglass, polyester (nylon), polyester, nylon and steel thread.

The optimal choice of these materials is fiberglass - a mesh made of lightweight fiberglass coated with polyvinyl chloride (PVC), durable and non-flammable, with a high degree of transparency and resistance to all atmospheric factors.

Anti-mosquito canvases: on the left - made of fiberglass, on the right - made of polyester.

In second place in popularity after fiberglass is polyester - a strong, durable, but widely affordable material.

The mesh size of the produced mosquito net is in the range from 0.5 to 1.2 mm, and when choosing a mesh fabric, preference should be given to the material in the middle part of this range - 0.6-1.0 mm. There is also an anti-dust class canvas - a specially woven mesh fabric with rectangular cells 0.25 mm wide, which trap the smallest particles suspended in the air, and therefore require regular washing.

Installation of frameless protection

Not all mosquito repellent devices without a frame base are structurally simple and easy to make independently. For example, in domestic conditions it is difficult to produce roller shutter (roll) devices or “pleated mesh” required level aesthetics and reliability, therefore protective accessories of such designs are produced in industrial conditions.

But equip window unit anyone can use a net on the simplest fastenings, and this design of a mosquito repellent device is no less effective than any other device.

Mosquito net on adhesive mounting tape

For such a protective structure, a flexible mesh fabric and fittings for fixation are required - burdock tape fasteners.

Important! When making mosquito protection with Velcro tape, it is better not to use metal mesh– in the working position, such a canvas is not aesthetically pleasing due to the inevitable unevenness in the plane of the canvas, and its prickly edges must be processed after cutting.

Materials for such a device can be purchased as a set by selecting a package with the right size and color of the canvas, or buy separately, taking measurements window opening roulette.

Frameless mosquito protection: on the left – kit, on the right – retail.

If the sashes of a window unit open outward, the mesh will be located on inner surface binding. And vice versa - when the window opens inward, the protection is attached from the outside.

Remove protective polyethylene tape and glue residues from the window block. Having retreated 5-15 mm outward from the inner edge of the window block frame, a line is drawn along the perimeter of the profile with a simple pencil and a ruler - the inner border of the mounting burdock tape. The surface along the line is degreased to the width of the Velcro.

Burdock tape is produced with self-adhesive, including hot-melt adhesive, back surface and without it. Therefore, Velcro is glued along the perimeter of the window block box, depending on the type of design - in accordance with the instructions for use.

Important! The hard strip of self-adhesive tape is attached to the window block, and the soft half is attached to the mesh.

Stages of installing frameless mosquito protection

In ready-made kits, the soft half of the adhesive tape is often already sewn around the perimeter of the mesh canvas, and to install the protection you only need to install the hard side of the Velcro on the window block. If there is no standard fastening, then you can do it yourself - first glue the tape to the mesh, tucking the edge of the canvas inward so that the edges do not split, and then stitch it with thread.

Standard finishing of the mesh canvas edge with mounting tape

It should be remembered that the frameless mosquito repellent device is convenient to use when it is located internally. Installation of such a mesh outside is permissible only on lower floors accessible to service from a portable ladder, or on window blocks divided into several openings vertical posts from a profile, with several movable doors.

Internal and external arrangement of flexible protection

A DIY mosquito net can be installed even easier, even without mounting tape. The perimeter of the opening in the box of the window block is measured according to sealing rubber between it and the sash, and with a margin of 10% to this value, a twisted nylon cord with a diameter of 4 mm is purchased. A mesh canvas 5 cm larger than the opening in each direction is also selected and purchased.

The sealing rubber is pryed off with a screwdriver with a narrow tip and removed from the seating groove.

Starting from the middle of the upper side, the edge of the mesh is placed on the groove overlay, on top of which the middle of the length of the cord is laid. The rope over the mesh in both directions (right and left) is pressed to the full depth into the groove, wedging and fixing the canvas in it. The mesh is installed under tension so that there is no slack left on the canvas. The two ends of the cord should meet in the middle of the bottom side of the opening, where they fit into a groove under a bead of white glue.

Installing a mosquito net in the groove for the sealing rubber

The excess fabric in the form of a strip along the cord is cut with scissors flush with the edge of the groove.

This video will help you get a more complete understanding of the operation being described:

Manufacturing and installation of mosquito-proof frame doors from scrap materials

Self-assembly of a protective mesh flap from a standard profile (plastic or aluminum) does not promise significant savings, since you still have to buy the components in the store. At the same time, there is a high probability that the quality of a device assembled by yourself will be lower than that of one made by a professional.

But making a frame of good quality from cheap fittings intended for other purposes will be of interest to many.

With your own hands put together a decent frame A mosquito net for a plastic window can be made from plastic channels for cable routing - a material of various sizes, colors and low prices.

Samples of plastic cable channels

Important! The walls of the cable channels have a thickness less than that of the standard profile of the valves, so plunger clamps should not be attached to them - it is better to use homemade Z-brackets or corner stops made of sheet steel 0.5-0.8 mm thick.

Scroll necessary materials and tool:

  • plastic cable channel 15x10 mm or 20x10 mm with double lock in an amount equal to the perimeter of the light opening plus 10%;
  • 4 connecting angles for external joining of frame elements;

Cable channel with connecting corner

  • reinforcing corner pads made of steel, duralumin or durable plastic– to ensure rigidity of the sash in the corners;
  • mesh canvas with cell side 0.6 -1.0 mm;

Reinforcing pads and mesh fabric

  • blind rivets with a diameter of 3-5 mm with a key;
  • drill with a drill bit for rivets;

Riveter with rivets

  • hacksaw for metal;
  • miter box.

Hacksaw with metal blade and miter box

Having taken the dimensions from the opening in the window block, cut blanks from the channels with covers, cutting their joints with a hacksaw at an angle of 45 0 - using a miter box. Having removed the covers from the cut elements, they are joined on a flat surface, reinforcing linings are placed inside and holes for rivets are marked. After drilling according to the marks, the linings are attached to the channels with rivets - the caps facing out.

Cutting the ends of cable channels and arranging them on a plane

To give greater rigidity to the structure, it is better to choose the lining according to the width of the channel base. If you can’t find this ready-made fitting for sale, you can make it yourself - cut it with a grinder from sheet steel 0.5-0.8 mm thick.

Reinforcing linings installed with caps facing outward - industrially manufactured and homemade

The finished frame without top covers is placed on flat surface and covered with a net. This operation is best performed by three people - two hold the canvas tight, and the third installs the top covers on the frame by pressing on them until the locking profiles click.

The finished mosquito sash is applied to the window block at the installation site and its outline is traced with a pencil. Then Z-shaped brackets or corner stops are made independently from thin sheet steel. The second option is preferable, as it eliminates accidental movement of the sash to the side.

Sketch of the location of the corner stops on the window block frame

When installing a sash from a cable channel externally, its durability depends on the quality of the polymer. Cheap channels from exposure to ultraviolet radiation and high temperature after 2-3 years they are susceptible to cracking.

Conclusion

With your own hands conscientiously manufactured mosquito repellent The mesh for plastic windows is not inferior to industrially produced devices in performing its main function - creating a barrier for insects. As for the aesthetics of the device, this criterion depends on the skill of the performer. If to decorative design protection requirements are quite high, it is better to purchase an industrially manufactured accessory. For country houses Do-it-yourself devices would be quite appropriate.

The main point of the article

  1. Mechanical anti-mosquito devices are the safest way for humans to protect their homes from insects.
  2. Of those produced industrially Many such protective devices are technically simple and suitable for self-manufacturing.
  3. You can temporarily solve the problem of mosquito protection even without any costs - using used auxiliary materials.
  4. Relevance of application homemade defense against mosquitoes depends on the requirements for the aesthetics of housing, since the effectiveness of such devices is quite high.

Active use metal-plastic windows and doors is caused by the high consumer characteristics of these building products. However, during the operation of the presented modules, it is necessary to carry out all routine operations in a timely manner in order to maintain the structures in working order. Adjusting plastic windows and doors, lubricating fittings, cleaning products from dust - this is, perhaps, the whole range of work that requires the user’s attention.

The mosquito net for windows is considered a weak link and also needs periodic revision or replacement. And given the desire of many users to save money, let's look at how to make a mosquito net with your own hands on a plastic window.

Types of safety nets

Currently, several types of structures are actively used to protect homes from mosquitoes:

  • Frame-type meshes are characterized by the presence of a rigid frame (made of a metal-plastic profile) to which the mesh fabric is attached. Moreover, due to the presence of their own frame in such products, they can easily be used as swing systems (for example, for balconies or entrance doors) or fixed to the outer surface window frame using special corners or Z-shaped brackets (brackets).
  • Frameless nets are fixed to the window frame using a special tape or cord. And due to the lack of complex structural elements characterized by affordable prices.
  • Rolled mosquito nets have a design identical to roller blinds and can be used for frequent closing/opening of a window opening. In terms of price characteristics, these types of protection are the most expensive, which is why they are not widely used among users.
  • Sliding mosquito nets are specially designed for use in sliding window systems. They are also equipped with a frame frame and move in a horizontal axis using special guide profiles.

Considering the high labor intensity of manufacturing the last two options, it would be justified to consider the method of manufacturing mosquito nets of frame and frameless types.

DIY frame mosquito net

Preparatory work

The first step at the preparation stage is to measure the width and height of the existing window opening. For these purposes, using a tape measure, measure the distance between the seals of opposite profiles, both in height and width. The data obtained must correspond to the dimensions of the light opening.

  • Frame profile (MFP2);
  • Mesh fabric;
  • Corner profile connectors (4 pcs.);
  • Fixing cord (usually rubber);
  • Accessories (handles, fasteners, latches, etc.).

In addition, if one of the sides of the mosquito net exceeds 100 cm, then to strengthen the structure it is advisable to purchase a profile for an impost (MFPI) with fasteners. Due to this element, a cross member is formed, which provides increased rigidity of the product.

Making a frame for the mesh

This process should begin with cutting profiles, from which the required frame will subsequently be assembled. Here it should be taken into account that in addition to profiles, the frame design uses connecting corners (plastic or metal), which, by their presence, somewhat increase the dimensions of the entire structure.

Thus, if you want to make a mosquito net equal in size to the dimensions of the light opening, then you should subtract the dimensions of the corner connectors from the previously obtained measurements (usually 10 mm on each side). Or cut MFP2 profiles according to existing dimensions (without subtractions). In this case, the mosquito net will overlap the window frame due to the increased size of the frame.

As for the sawing technology itself, this operation is best performed using a hacksaw for metal. After which it is recommended to treat the cut areas with a file or fine sandpaper.

Subsequent assembly of the frame is best done on a flat surface (table or floor). For this purpose, the required rectangle is formed from the prepared sections of the profile, and the junctions of adjacent profiles are fixed using corner connectors (truncated guides of the corners are inserted inside the profiles).

It should be noted that the insertion of the connecting angles into the profile cavities is carried out with an interference fit, which may require working with a hammer (tapping should be done using spacers made of wood or similar materials).

As a result (after installing all the connectors) you should get a rectangular frame with right angles (90 degrees) and relative rigidity.

Next, you may need to install a cross member. For these purposes, an MFPI profile is suitable, which should be sawed off according to the resulting frame width minus 3mm. The impost is attached to the frame using special holders, which are fixed into the groove of the frame profile.

Fixing the mesh to the frame

After completing the assembly, a mosquito net should be laid on the existing frame, ensuring that it is 3-4 cm larger than the dimensions of the base on each side. And then you need to fix the mesh to the frame by inserting a rubber cord into the groove. This can be done with any rounded object, alternately straightening the mesh and recessing the cord along the entire perimeter of the frame.

When performing this operation, you should ensure that the mesh is evenly distributed over the entire plane. Ignoring this condition may cause distortion of the entire structure and, as a result, require repeated work.

When the mesh is properly secured to the frame profile using self-tapping screws, the handles should be screwed in, with the help of which the entire structure will be installed/dismantled into the window opening.

At the end of the work, you should once again check the quality of assembly of the mosquito net and cut off the excess cord and mesh that protrudes beyond the edges of the profile. This is best done with sharp scissors or a mounting knife. After which the mosquito net can easily be installed on a plastic window.

How to install a mosquito net without a frame

Sometimes, it is quite justified to use frameless structures to protect your home from flies and mosquitoes. Moreover, the cost of such “equipment” is very reasonable, and all work can be completed within half an hour.

Option for fastening the mesh with Velcro

To fix the painting mesh to the area of the opening in this case, you may need the mesh itself, Velcro tape (often used for clothes and shoes) up to 10 mm wide, and an adhesive composition.

The work algorithm itself is carried out in the following order:

  1. The window frame is cleaned of dust and construction waste(if possible, it is recommended to wash the window unit with a soap solution);
  2. The opening is measured and the Velcro tape is cut according to the existing values.
  3. Velcro tapes are divided into two parts and those that have hooks are glued to the inner area of the window opening around the entire perimeter (for these purposes, the adhesive composition is spread on back side tapes). At this stage, you should ensure that the glued tape does not interfere with the closing of the window module. The gluing period is at least 3 hours.
  4. Using the available measurements, the mosquito net is cut (you must remember to add 10 mm to the hem on each side).
  5. Having made the hem, using a needle and thread, the corresponding parts of the Velcro tape are sewn to the mesh along the entire perimeter, with the fleecy part facing out.

By matching the fleecy sections of the Velcro tape with the mating parts (with hooks) glued to the frame, the mesh will be securely fixed in the required position.

The undeniable advantage of this method of fixing the painting mesh to the window opening area is not only low cost, but also the possibility of dismantling and subsequent installation of the structure at any time.

Option for attaching the mesh to an existing groove

Sometimes, if you do not need to frequently remove and install the mosquito net, you can fix it in the existing groove of the window profile. To do this, it is enough to do the following work.

First, prepare a mosquito net (according to the dimensions of the existing opening + 50 mm on each side), and also purchase a rubber cord (4 mm in diameter).

Next, the seal located around the perimeter of the opening should be removed from the window frame. And the free groove formed as a result of this is used for attaching the canvas. That is, by distributing the grid in the required location, starting from top corner Directly through the network, the cord is recessed into the groove, which ensures high-quality fixation of all the material to the frame area.

After laying the cord in the upper horizontal cavity, they move to the vertical section and thus move around the entire perimeter.

Considering the density of the material, it is recommended to recess the rubber cord into the groove using a rounded object (the handle of a screwdriver, knife, etc.).

You can control the quality of work done by looking at the grid cells (they must be of the correct shape). In addition, for aesthetics, sufficient tension in the material should be ensured.

At the end of the work, the excess mesh can be cut off, or carefully trimmed and used for subsequent dismantling (it will be enough to pull the edge).

In order for the process self-made the protective mesh did not cause any difficulties; during the work it is advisable to follow the following recommendations:

  • The grid cell size (usually varies from 0.6 to 1.2 mm) should be selected based on the climatic characteristics of the region. After all, small cells together with insects and fluff will not be able to pass a sufficient volume of air and will thereby interfere with high-quality air exchange in the room. Optimal size cells (about 1mm).
  • When choosing a mosquito net material, it is more justified to use polyester ( lowest cost) gray(least visible visually).
  • When performing work at height, you must strictly follow all safety regulations and use the appropriate equipment and devices.

DIY mosquito net made from cable channels

Spring has come, and with it mosquitoes. The balcony has an aluminum sliding window. There was no mosquito net for it, so I wanted to buy a factory one, but after learning the price, I refused and decided to make a homemade one.

Let's get started.

We buy in the store a cable channel 25*16-3pcs, 2m each, 15*10-1pc, rivets, mesh and corners. We take the corners in such a way that they can be easily inserted into the cable channel. I only found these:

But after trying them on at home, it seemed to me that the design would be a little flimsy. Therefore, at work, corners were made from fiberglass along the width of the cable channel.

Rivets and the rivet maker himself.

So... we decide on the dimensions of the future frame and begin to cut the cable channel at 45 degrees. In order not to spoil the chair, which is also a temporary workbench))), I used a 20*20mm block as a backing.

We saw and saw and we get this part. By the way, I remembered about the cable channel with the camera function late, so I assembled part of the frame without capturing the moments of its assembly.

We sawed it off and tried it on. Everything seems to be normal and smooth.

We insert the corner into the cable channel, drill or pick (the plastic is soft, everything is easy to pick), insert the rivets and rivet. As a result, you get such a beautiful connection.

Houston, we have problems!!! The nail of the rivet came off in the wrong place ((. Well, no problem, this can be treated with a file. It’s not for nothing that they say, after assembly, process it with a file)))

We glue on both sides.

Let's try it on. Floor tiles were used as a square.

After riveting, we get a smooth, beautiful-looking connection.

View from inside the cable channel.

The top (or bottom) part is in place.

Assembled frame.

During the manufacturing process, it was decided to add a jumper in the middle of the frame for rigidity. To do this, two T-shaped parts were cut out of fiberglass. There is no process for cutting a hole for the part, but everything is simple, we carefully cut it out with a stationery knife so that it fits through.

ATTENTION! Fingers! You can cut it into two.

The jumper is in place.

The most interesting thing begins. We need to tighten the mesh. Here my wife comes to the rescue, but she doesn’t do it herself ((. There is no stretching process, since the arms, legs and improvised objects were busy. We take the mesh with an allowance of 2-5 cm. We stretch the mesh so that there are no folds and sagging. In order for the cable channel (its upper part) did not open during operation, before snapping it into place, we drip on it every 10cm super glue and quickly put it in place.

After tensioning and assembly, we cut off the excess mesh flush with the cable channel.

View of the finished mosquito net. Next, we’ll figure out how you’ll attach it to the window. I got it like this: on top of the same fiberglass, guides (ears, spikes, call it what you want) are cut out and riveted in place on top, and something like an eccentric on the bottom. When inserting a mosquito net into the window frame, its upper guides fit between the frame and the window sash, and at the bottom we turn the eccentrics so that they also fit between the frame and the window sash. The grid is fixed, but if necessary, it can be moved left or right.

The mosquito net is in place.
