Metal-plastic windows with ventilation valve. Do-it-yourself installation of a ventilation inlet valve in plastic windows

Keeping warm in any living space is a top priority for a homeowner. "Leakage" of warm air will increase the cost of heat carriers in the cold season and electricity, which will be spent on hot summer air cooling. You can reduce such unforeseen expenses by insulating the facade of the house. To perform work on insulation, you can choose any convenient method and material. Each has its own advantages and disadvantages, but the material performs one functional task - to keep warm.

Features of insulation

Modern materials are presented in a wide variety, but not everyone can use it to insulate the facade of a house from the outside. Before engaging in insulation work, it is necessary to determine and select the heat insulator, the use of which will be justified from an economic and practical point of view.

Wall insulation from the outside performs several functions:

The homeowner, in addition to choosing the right material for insulating the house, needs to study the technology of thermal insulation work. Non-compliance with technological processes can lead to unexpected consequences.

There are several types of wall insulation: wet and dry, well-type and ventilated. Facade, wet-insulated, suggests the presence of plaster and other wall covering options. This method is used in conjunction with heaters without the use of waterproofing materials.

Wall insulation according to the type of well is carried out with the laying of a heat insulator between the load-bearing wall and a layer of finishing decorative bricks. This method involves the presence of a waterproofing membrane inside the wall.

The ventilated method of wall insulation is produced according to a complex scheme using fasteners, profiles, insulation and decorative coatings. The principle of heat preservation in this way is the formation of an air cushion between the insulated wall and the finishing layer.

Not all methods are suitable for warming a wooden house, so you should choose the right option when choosing. It is recommended to insulate the facade of a wooden house in the classical way - with plaster. This is a time-tested option, moreover, it has proven itself from the best side.

A layer of expanded clay mixture, laid on shingles, will level the walls and significantly increase the thermal insulation inside the house. After plastering the walls of a wooden house, facade systems can be mounted. Additional reinforcement of the plastered walls will decorate the house from the outside.

Variety of thermal insulation materials

Insulation of facades of houses involves the use of various heat materials. They are attached to load-bearing walls, plastered and covered with decorative panels and other materials.

The market of modern materials offers for the insulation of external walls the following heating options:

  1. Styrofoam;
  2. polystyrene foam and extruded polystyrene variants;
  3. mineral wool in various designs;
  4. foam concrete and aerated concrete panels;
  5. thermal panels.

foam panels

The foam plastic material has long been known to builders and has gained both supporters and opponents over the years of its existence. Styrofoam is made from polystyrene, the granules of which are subjected to air heat treatment. They increase in size, stick together with each other, forming a cellular structure.

The method used to create the material has its positive and negative qualities, which the homeowner must be aware of. The positive side of using foam:

  1. the material is quite light;
  2. work on the installation of panels on the wall is carried out quickly, the material does not require special equipment and is easily cut to obtain parts of the required size and shape;
  3. Styrofoam does not conduct heat well, this quality will contribute to the preservation of heat inside the house.

Negative qualities of foam:

  1. The structure of the foam is porous, so the material is quite fragile, besides, rodents like to gnaw on the granules;
  2. Polyfoam has a certain service life. After the expiration of the period, the material crumbles into granules, and not locally in separate parts, but over the entire used area;
  3. Styrofoam has a small vapor conductivity and the ability to pass gas;
  4. The material burns and is capable of sustaining an open flame.

The low cost of foam plastic makes it attractive for facade insulation.

Extruded polystyrene and its variations

Unlike polystyrene foam, polystyrene foam has a denser structure. It depends on how the material is made. Styrofoam is heated, it melts, and high pressure foams the granules with heating. Cooling, they form a dense structure, where the cells are filled with air.

Arguments in favor of using polystyrene foam:

  1. expanded polystyrene has greater strength than polystyrene;
  2. the material is able to conduct steam and gas, is considered a breathable material;
  3. flexible polystyrene sheets;
  4. foamed foam has good quality heat and sound insulation.

Mineral wool and their properties

The most common method of wall insulation is performed using mineral wool. Cotton wool is made of various composition, different sizes and provides an opportunity to choose the material of the required thickness.

Warming with mineral wool carried out with a specific technology. The process is carried out using waterproofing and vapor-moisture protective materials. If one of the components is missing, condensation will collect in the mineral wool layers. This moisture will not promote mold or fungal growth, but the weight of the insulation layer will increase, and the liquid will moisten the surface of the walls. A wet wall will cause a lot of trouble, up to destruction.

Modern versions of basalt materials are made of various densities, it is easily cut with the necessary details. Cotton wool is widely used for facade insulation using a wet method. Basalt wool is subjected to plastering.

Mineral wool does not burn and does not support an open flame of fire, does not smolder. It retains heat well and has a high noise insulation coefficient. It is unattractive to rodents. The service life is up to 40 years.

Foam concrete and aerated concrete

Produced in the form of facing plates. The slabs are laid on the principle of brickwork, which eliminates the appearance of cold bridges. Foam concrete slabs are glued to load-bearing walls. In turn, the glue acts as an additional layer of waterproofing. To increase the holding properties of the adhesive, the panels are attached to the wall with dowels-umbrellas for the installation of insulation.

Foam concrete and aerated concrete panels do not have a lot of weight, due to the way they are made, so they are easy to mount. The material is cut into the necessary parts. Installation is carried out in a short time. You can perform it yourself, without having special education and skills.

make foam concrete and aerated concrete panels with the addition of reagents that foam the concrete mix, so the material has some drawbacks. If the panels freeze through, they lose their strength. It is impossible to stop this process and achieve the integrity of the panel, even if waterproofing is applied.

Sheathing is a set that consists of a heater and a decorative finishing layer. The most popular are panels with an insulating layer of foam or expanded polystyrene, and a decorative layer imitates plaster or brickwork. Panels are installed by gluing. A special solution acts as an adhesive.

A positive aspect of the use of decorative panels is the ease of installation and high decorative qualities, the appearance of the wall is beautiful. Panels retain heat well.

The negative qualities include the adhesive ability of the composition to be held on the surface of the wall. The panels peel off over time, dowels-umbrellas will help to improve the fastening system, but the walls will lose their aesthetic appearance, and the integrity of the panel will be violated.

Dry installation of insulation is carried out at any time of the year. No adhesive mixtures are used in the work, this significantly reduces the execution time. The choice in favor of this method depends on the finishing material.

dry method of insulation involves layering, including exterior decorative trim.

A crate of wooden bars is mounted on the walls. A step is observed between the bars, which corresponds to the width of the insulating material. It is placed in the openings between the bars. Work begins on laying the insulation from the bottom and moves up.

After laying the material, the structure is covered from above with a windproof and vapor-permeable film. The work is completed by fixing the outer decorative layer.

wet way

Works on thermal insulation of facades begin with the preparation of the surface of the walls. They need to be cleaned, puttied cracks and crevices. All damaged sections of the wall must be restored.

If it is intended to apply a thin layer of the mixture to the walls, not more than 16 mm, then it is not necessary to use a reinforcing mesh. Without reinforcement, you can apply a layer of plaster no more than 5 cm thick. A thicker layer of plaster needs reinforcement. If there is a need for additional reinforcement, then it is better to give preference to fiberglass meshes.

Finished plaster composition applied to the walls evenly, keeping the thickness at an equal level. Level the surface with a building rule.

To insulate wooden walls, shingles are constructed; it serves as a reinforcing layer for plaster.

The work is carried out by professional craftsmen, this is considered a disadvantage in using the method. The disadvantages include the impossibility of carrying out work at temperatures below +5 ° C.

Ventilated facade device

Insulation of the facades of private houses with ventilated systems is more expensive. The system is more complex and requires professional skills. Wall insulation consists of several layers: a layer of insulation, an air gap and decorative panels.

To create a ventilated facade, follow the following steps:

Wooden lining, siding, metal panels, decorative plastic panels with imitation of stone or brickwork act as decorative panels.

Time for facade work

Insulation of the facade of the house from the outside is performed if:

It is advisable to carry out facade work at an ambient temperature of +5 +25 ° C. It is advisable to carry out a rough finish inside the room, carry out electrical wiring and installation of all engineering networks and communications.

The finishing of the facade is started at the last stage of building a house, when windows and doors are installed. It is during this period that the completed image of the building is drawn, its mood and style are set. Insulation and finishing of facades is a responsible process, since not only the aesthetic component, but also the indoor climate and the service life of the facade itself depend on the professionalism of the work and the quality of the materials. Today, there are many options for finishing the walls of the house, each of which has its own advantages and disadvantages.

Wet facade

Wet cladding of external walls belongs to the classics, being the most common technology for finishing and insulating facades. Despite its apparent simplicity, a wet facade is a complex structure consisting of several functional layers:

  • insulation (materials are used that are least susceptible to shrinkage - polystyrene foam, mineral wool in the slab);
  • reinforcing mesh resistant to alkaline environment;
  • finishing, which carries a decorative meaning and protects the entire system from the outside from atmospheric phenomena.

Types of wet facade systems

For improved adhesion of the wall material to the insulation, in addition to dowels, an adhesive composition is used, and a reinforcing mixture acts as a link between the insulation and the finishing plaster. Depending on the nature of the selected materials, organic systems (polystyrene insulation, organic reinforcing composition and acrylic or silicone plaster on the outside), mineral systems (mineral wool, cement-based reinforcing mixture and mineral or silicate plaster) and combined (polystyrene foam and mineral layers on top) are distinguished. him).

What coverage to choose?

  • Mineral plasters are created on the basis of cement. This is one of the most durable coatings with a minimum price. Having excellent vapor permeability, mineral plaster has an aesthetic disadvantage - a limited palette of colors, but this is easily overcome by using silicate paints.
  • Silicate plasters based on liquid glass, thanks to improved vapor permeability, are perfectly combined with such materials of external walls as shell rock, foam and aerated concrete. A rich color palette allows you to do without the cost of painting the house.
  • Acrylic plasters are based on an aqueous dispersion of acrylic resin. They are more ductile and, unlike brittle mineral and silicate ones, they tolerate the shrinkage of the building without cracking. Such plaster refers to thin-layer, finishing.
  • Silicone facade mixtures are the most expensive, but among all plasters they have the best plasticity: they are able to stretch and bend following the deformations of the wall, while maintaining their integrity. They can be easily tinted, and when solidified, they form a breathable film on the outside, capable of self-cleaning during precipitation. However, such plaster in terms of vapor permeability is significantly inferior to mineral mixtures.

Advantages and disadvantages of a wet facade

It's important to know

The main advantage of the wet facade system is the movement of the dew point from the wall of the house to the outside, which protects the heat-insulating materials from waterlogging, and the facade provides optimal heat transfer.

Facade finishes in these systems breathe, which means that a healthy atmosphere will be maintained inside the building. The design of the wet facade is practically devoid of cold bridges. In addition, it significantly increases the energy efficiency of the building, provides sound insulation of walls and allows you to reliably seal interpanel seams from the outside.

The main disadvantage of the system can be considered the binding of installation work to the season and weather conditions, since the technology for applying mixtures requires a temperature of at least +5 ° C and is critical to high atmospheric humidity. The video shows the consequences of installation in violation of the temperature regime!

Ventilated facades

Finishing and insulation of the facade from the outside can be performed without the use of mixtures. Recently, hinged or ventilated facades have gained popularity - quick-assembly structures that allow you to insulate and sheathe the entire house in a short time. The advantage of a ventilated facade is that it can be installed at any time of the year without reference to temperature and humidity.

Such systems got their name because of the technological gap that remains between the insulation and the cladding. Through it, excess moisture is removed from the walls, and the air layer itself becomes an additional thermal barrier for the house and an acoustic trap for external sound waves.

Types of insulation in hinged facades

The hinged facade system consists of a crate, in which a layer of insulation is laid, and a counter-lattice on top of it, which serves as the basis for the installation of the cladding. In the form of insulation, basalt or fiberglass mats are traditionally used. The latter, due to their high water absorption, need high-quality hydroprotection. Often, two-layer systems are also used, combining thermal insulation materials of both types, less dense in the inner layer, and more dense on the outside. The use of expanded polystyrene in ventilated facades is possible, but limited by its combustibility.

Options for finishing materials

The cladding for the ventilated façade system is characterized by a variety of types, which allows for greater freedom of expression.

  • Composite panels - a sandwich of aluminum sheets with a polymer filler between them. The material is flexible, durable, resistant to vibrations and UV rays, which makes it possible to effortlessly sheathe a structure with complex wall geometry.
  • Artificial stone (porcelain stoneware, porcelain ceramics) is a refractory, chemically inert and durable material that is not inferior in aesthetics and premium quality to natural stone. The heavy weight of the finish imposes restrictions on its use, often requiring reinforcement of the exterior walls and foundation of the house.
  • Natural stone is exclusive for executive class buildings. It is expensive, but truly eternal. Durable, wear-resistant, environmentally friendly and moisture resistant, it has, however, the maximum weight of all types of cladding, requiring particularly strong frame guides and strengthening the foundation of the structure.
  • Fiber cement boards are a versatile and inexpensive option for house cladding, based on cement with the inclusion of reinforcing additives. Outside, the plates are easily painted in a wide palette of shades and textures. Refractory, resistant to various types of corrosion, relatively light elements have one significant drawback - the ability to accumulate moisture, which is fraught with their expansion, which requires maintaining technological gaps during installation.
  • Siding is panels that are fastened together with a system of locks. For exterior finishes, aluminum, steel, wood and vinyl siding, as well as panels made of wood-polymer composites, are most often used. Due to their lightness, such materials are used for finishing the outer walls of high-rise buildings, and ease of installation, low flammability and unpretentious maintenance make siding a popular solution for both residential buildings and commercial real estate.
  • Terracotta (volumetric ceramics) - hollow panels, which are a product of high-temperature firing of clay. Ceramic materials perfectly satisfy the eco-concept of houses. They are durable and are characterized by low water absorption, and on this basis - high frost resistance. However, their considerable weight requires a scrupulous approach to planning the façade system.

Thermal panels

Facade thermal panels are a two-in-one product - it is both a heater and a house cladding. In the context of a thermal panel, it can be a heat-insulating mat, mainly made of expanded polystyrene or polyurethane foam, into which a facing material is pressed - clinker, porcelain stoneware or ceramic tiles. Another embodiment may be a layer of insulation, including mineral wool, covered on the outside with a protective coating of marble chips.

Of all the facade cladding options, finishing with thermal panels is the least laborious. By analogy with the installation of a ventilated facade, thermal panel cladding does not contain wet processes (with the exception of grouting when tiling the mat), and therefore the time of work is not limited by the season and weather conditions. The significant cost of the material, especially when faced with clinker tiles, positions it mainly as a solution for private houses.

Ecowool

The name "ecowool" refers to a loose material consisting of cellulose with the addition of flame retardant compounds. Filling the cavities with ecowool gives a continuous heat-insulating layer that penetrates into hard-to-reach cracks and corners. For facade insulation, both dry and wet-adhesive laying methods are used.

At the first, a box-shaped structure is mounted on the facade, into which the material is blown dry. In the second, an adhesive composition and a moisturizer are added to the material, spraying the resulting mass on the surface with the help of blowing machines, and after drying, it is leveled along the guides with a cutting knife. A layer of ecowool 5 cm in terms of thermal conductivity replaces one and a half brick laying. After the composition has hardened, the insulation can be clad on the outside using various materials, including siding.

Despite the difficulties with applying ecowool to vertical surfaces, it has its advantages: the ability to use on any curved and complex shapes and minimal shrinkage during operation.

As you can see, there are many technologies for finishing the facade with the use of insulation, which allows you to take into account its initial characteristics and the conditions for the future operation of the building. Competently selected materials and finishing technology contribute to the effective protection of the walls of the building from external influences and the optimization of its internal microclimate.

Ventilation devices come in different designs, but they are all small holes in a plastic window through which air from the street enters the frame, passes a small gap there and enters the room.

The valves are adjustable, so the flow will flow in the amount necessary for the owner, and if desired, completely blocked.

Most often used for domestic purposes, but also popular for industrial, retail and office space.

What is it needed for:

  1. The room is ventilated around the clock. Thanks to the installed valve, air from the street enters the apartment. And even in winter, when normal ventilation is not possible, ventilation will provide a constant supply of freshness. Also, you can manually adjust the ventilation intensity or completely block the throughput channels.
  2. It is possible to ventilate the room without dust, noise, insects and painful drafts. Fresh air from the street enters a special space inside the frame. Passing through it, the air warms up (this applies to winter time, when it is cold outside) and enters the room without dust and insects.
  3. The microclimate of the room improves. Ventilation leads to a decrease in the level of carbon dioxide and humidity. Windows become less likely to fog up and form fungus or other viruses. Thus, the microclimate of housing becomes much better.

Advantages:

  1. Ventilation of the room occurs with closed windows, so the penetration of intruders becomes unlikely.
  2. Easy to use- set and forget.
  3. Keeping warm in the apartment when ventilating.
  4. Increases the operating life of the premises, due to the normal level of humidity and the absence of mold or fungus (such problems are especially relevant for balconies and kitchens).

Valve- this is a hole in a plastic window through which air from the street enters the frame, passes a small gap there and enters the room. The orifice dimensions can be adjusted to suit the required flow.

Varieties

There are three types of ventilation valves:

Folded

The principle of rebate ventilation

This is the simplest and most economical option. The influx of fresh air is carried out due to small cuts in the porch. This type practically retains sound insulation, but has a very small throughput, due to which the ventilation will be inferior.

Installation does not require dismantling of plastic windows. Valves of this type are mounted in already installed structures, which is their main advantage.

slotted

This type has a large capacity. Ventilation occurs due to the gap, which is 12–16 mm high and 170–400 mm wide. Outside, the hole is covered with a pass block, which prevents dust and insects from entering.

It is also mounted in installed plastic frames, but is more efficient than the rebate type.

Overhead

Provide the best ventilation, however, have some disadvantages. Firstly, they cannot be installed in a finished plastic structure, since it is necessary to prepare a place on the frame for it in advance. Secondly, they have poor sound and heat insulation.

This type is best used in production shops.

Criterias of choice

In order for the installed ventilation device to bring maximum effect, it is necessary to choose the best option for each case.

Therefore, valves differ in the following characteristics:

  1. Air exchange parameters: the inflow must flow in the required volume, when calculating 30 m 3 / hour per person.
  2. Noise level: Basically, plastic windows have an indicator of 30-35 dB.
  3. Operation in winter: the damper must be adequately insulated to prevent icing and not interfere with ventilation.
  4. Adjustment option: automatic control, manual and mixed is possible.
  5. Mounting method: it is necessary to choose whether the valve will be installed in old windows or new double-glazed windows should be ordered with ventilation calculation?

Attention! Do not consider options without the ability to adjust the level of air exchange. As practice shows, this parameter is necessary.

Types of structures

The most popular at the moment are two options: Aereco and Air-Box. Consider their features and principle of operation.

Aereco

Aereco valves

  1. EMM. The most common option, which is equipped with hygroregulation technology. The built-in sensor regulates the width of the opening depending on the humidity of the room. This type of construction is mounted vertically or at an angle. Available in three colors: oak, teak and white. Throughput - 5–35 m 3 / hour.
  2. EHA2. It is also equipped with a sensor, but has a large air flow - 5–50 m3 / h and more advanced acoustic capabilities (42 dB, versus the usual 37).

Air box

Air-Box Comfort Vent Valve

The Russian company Mabitek also released a line of ventilation valves.

They are installed on blocks of any design and are almost invisible:

  1. standard. This is a standard version, which consists of two parts: an external one, which collects air, and an internal one, which supplies it to the room. When the ventilation is running, the flaps of the damper open and allow about 6 m3/h to pass through.
  2. comfort. Noise-proof option, which involves installation in a window profile or in sealing rubber, which is much easier and faster.
  3. Comfort S. Assumed for blind windows. Through holes are drilled, due to which direct blowing occurs.

Air-Box is the leader among other valves due to its economical cost, efficiency, small size and ease of installation.

Mounting

Installation scheme

Virtually all companies that sell valves offer their installation services. Their cost is low, but the amount of work is small. We suggest that you read the instructions for self-assembly. For example, we will tell you how to install a slot-type ventilation device.

Required materials and tools:

  • construction knife;
  • screwdriver;
  • ruler;
  • valve;
  • seal and plugs;

Walkthrough:

  1. Remove all unnecessary from the windowsill.
  2. open window.
  3. On top sealing rubber measure the length of the purchased valve.
  4. With a knife make two cuts and remove the intermediate piece.
  5. Install instead new sealing rubber.
  6. measure distance from the edge of the window to the beginning of the new seal.
  7. Set aside the same distance on the upper sash of an open window and make an incision in the seal.
  8. Measure the length of the future valve on the flap and make a second cut.
  9. Remove the intermediate piece.
  10. Instead of the old seal install three plugs wide side up. They should move freely on the side of the window.
  11. Install plugs at a distance corresponding to the valve mountings.
  12. Peel off the strip double-sided adhesive tape on the valve and stick it to the window, pressing it tightly against the installed plugs.
  13. Screw screws in fasteners.
  14. Glue shorter seals between fixtures.

Ways of regulation

Valve with humidity control sensor

Depending on the structure and mechanism, the ventilation device can regulate the level of air exchange or block it. This process can be automated or manual.

The first option is equipped with a hygroregulation (moisture sensitivity) sensor, according to which the throughput changes. If the room has a high level of humidity, the width of the hole will be maximum.

Otherwise, when the room is empty, the air supply is cut off. In the manual version, you have to constantly adjust the width of the section for a comfortable stay. The only thing that this option is designed for is a restriction in case of strong gusts of wind.

Another and very important advantage of ventilation valves is easy maintenance. For full-fledged work, it is enough to clean the surface of dirt once a year. This is the necessary service.

Price and reviews

The ventilation valve is only an addition to a plastic window, so its cost should not exceed the price of a conventional double-glazed window. On average, the best option is 20-40 USD. e.

Rate examples:

  1. Aereco EMM with a standard white visor - 3000 rubles.
  2. Aereco EMM with a standard oak or teak visor - 3100 rubles.
  3. Aereco EHA2 with a standard white visor - 3900 rubles.
  4. Aereco EHA2 with a white acoustic visor - 4900 rubles.
  5. Aereco EHA2 with a standard oak or teak visor - 4200 rubles.
  6. Aereco EHA2 with an acoustic canopy in oak or teak color - 5200 rubles.
  7. Air box Standard white - 560 rubles.
  8. Air-Box Comfort S white - 750 rubles.

Reviews:

Ekaterina:

In the summer, we open the windows at night so that the children can sleep in the fresh air. In winter, this is no longer possible. Even if you ventilate the room right before going to bed, after 30-40 minutes it will be stuffy again. That is why two valves were installed. Now it's fresh all day, and it doesn't blow at all. In general, the best option for a child's room.

Igor:

When ordering windows for the whole house, they asked the manager about ventilation. She advised not to install valves, since with our climate they can freeze in winter and not close. They are more suitable for Europe than for us.

Alexander:

We bought an apartment where developers used windows with ventilation. Previously, we did not know about their existence, so we would hardly have ordered. We've been using it for two years now and we're happy with it.

In general, if you are a fan of freshness and regularly ventilate the room, ventilation valves are made just for you.

The installation of hermetic window structures entails a deterioration in the microclimate of the room: humidity rises, there is a lack of oxygen and stuffy air. Problems can be easily solved by placing the supply valve on plastic windows - the device normalizes natural ventilation and stabilizes air exchange.

We will tell you how to choose the right ventilator to ensure the supply of fresh air to rooms with plastic window frames. We have detailed descriptions of popular device models tested in practice. For independent home masters, we provide detailed installation instructions.

The basis of the normal microclimate of the room is the presence of an effective one.

The air must constantly circulate - polluted with excess carbon dioxide is removed through the hoods, and clean air comes from outside.

Image gallery

The old, imperfect structures did the job effectively, providing sufficient airflow even in winter. The disadvantage of wooden frames is poor sound and heat insulation

Trying to restore air circulation by opening a window in ventilation mode cannot be considered a good solution for the following reasons:

  • the advantages of "plastic" are reduced to zero - the efficiency of thermal insulation of the room is reduced;
  • ventilation works only when the window is open, which is especially problematic to organize in the cold season or in windy weather;
  • the air flow is uneven and uncontrolled - drafts appear.

Some manufacturers of window systems took into account the consequences of complete tightness and improved metal-plastic structures.

Violation of air exchange negatively affects the health and livelihoods of people. Condensation appears on the windows, slopes and walls become covered with mold - the concentration of toxic substances increases

Special ventilation fittings:

  • ventilated profiles;
  • opening limiters;
  • partially breathable seals;
  • glazing beads with control valve.

An inlet valve is used to ensure air flow through a previously installed window.

Supply ventilation on plastic windows allows you to constantly maintain a favorable microclimate in the room. We will discuss this aspect in more detail later.

Plastic windows provide almost complete sealing of the room. In the harsh Russian climate, this is a huge plus. In the warm season, the lack of oxygen is solved simply by airing, but in winter such a measure is impossible due to severe frosts. The lack of fresh air is fraught with many problems:

  • Fogging windows.
  • The appearance of fungus and mold on the slopes.
  • The mustiness of the air. This creates discomfort in the room.
  • Young children may develop allergic reactions.

Additional ventilation in a room with plastic windows is provided by installing special valves. They have different design features, but their main purpose is to let outside air into the room without temperature losses. They cope with this function, albeit with varying degrees of efficiency.

Tip: In most windows, you can adjust the closing density. In the warm season, set the sashes to summer mode - in this case, the frames will not close too tightly, which will allow oxygen to enter the room.

In what cases the organization of additional air circulation is necessary:

  • If small children live in the house. As already mentioned, the lack of oxygen can be detrimental to their health.
  • In rooms with many plants. Without oxygen, they will simply die.
  • When the house is warmed up with the help of convectors or oil radiators. Such heaters monstrously dry the air.
  • In production. In workshops (if they are associated with toxic substances), it is necessary to organize the maximum flow of fresh air.

All known varieties

The ventilation valve for plastic windows is only at first glance a simple device. It is divided into several varieties, which have significant design differences. You should know them in order to choose the best option.

This is the simplest, and most importantly, the cheapest option. With their help, outdoor air enters the room through small cutouts. The main advantages of this technology are as follows:

  • Low cost.
  • There is no need to dismantle the installed PVC windows.
  • Guarantees preservation of sound-proof properties of a double-glazed window.
  • High speed and ease of installation.
  • Possibility of automation.

Among all the advantages, there was one, but a very important minus - poor bandwidth. Because of this, rebate ventilation with closed windows has poor efficiency.

slotted

Fresh air enters the room through special channels. Usually they have a size in the range of 160-400 by 10-16 mm. As a rule, such a valve is equipped with two blocks - inlet and control. On more advanced models, it is one (universal). Technology advantages:

  • Absolute protection against external factors (precipitation, insects). This is ensured by the presence of a control unit.
  • High (in our case average) passing ability.
  • Can be used without dismantling the double-glazed window.

Serious minus in this case, you can find only one - a relatively complex installation. However, some models do not even have such a drawback (more on that later). Therefore, this category is the most popular now.

Overhead

In residential premises, such structures are practically not used. This is due to their serious shortcomings:

  • The thermal insulation properties of windows are seriously reduced.
  • Soundproofing is reduced to almost zero.
  • It is possible to install such a supply ventilation valve only before the installation of a double-glazed window. In particular, it is necessary to adjust the size of the opening.

However, this technology has found wide application in the manufacturing sector. The main reason for this is the highest throughput.

Market leaders - Aereco and Air-box

The domestic valve market was 90% occupied by two manufacturers Aereco (France) and Air-box (Russia). You should have an idea about the features of their products:

High quality and practical

Valves from Aereko are an overlay that has an attractive appearance (there are color variations) that fits into any interior. The most optimal installation option is during the manufacture of PVC windows. However, if double-glazed windows are already installed, then installation can also be done. To do this, you will need to make a small drilling of the frames.

The device consists of 8 (16) moisture sensitive plates. Depending on the level of humidity, they can open or close the shutter. And they don't need power to work. The principle of operation is based on the physical law of thermal expansion.

You can even mount them on the wall. This method is used mainly in wooden structures, because it is extremely difficult to make milling of reinforced concrete structures. In terms of its qualities, this manufacturer looks like the best analogue on the market. However, it has an important drawback - the high price (from 2500 thousand rubles).

Cheaper equivalent

The Russian manufacturer of air-box makes its products much simpler, which at the same time almost does not lag behind in efficiency from its more expensive "brothers". Such models allow outdoor air to penetrate through the space between the frame and the sash. It leaks due to the replacement of the standard seal. To control the air flow, move the regulator knob.

Such models are much simpler and require manual control. At the same time, they carry two very important advantages - low cost (on average from 400 rubles) and a simpler installation technique. Air-boxes are installed in two ways - by means of frame milling (as with the previous manufacturer) and by replacing the seal (which will be discussed below).

Possible installation options

Forced ventilation in a window can be implemented in three ways, which vary greatly in complexity.

The most difficult method is to adjust the size of the opening

The most time-consuming and costly method is associated with the installation of the overhead elements mentioned above. They are mounted as follows:

  • The existing double-glazed window is removed.
  • The opening expands by the size of the lining.
  • The double-glazed window is installed back.
  • An overlay is installed in the resulting gap.
  • The cracks are covered with cement mortar (or something similar).

The technique looks deadly time-consuming and unreasonable. Therefore, no one does the work in this order, because this is fraught with cosmic expenditures of effort, time and money. It is necessary to take care of additional ventilation in advance, that is, before installing a double-glazed window.

The most thoughtful people, when ordering PVC windows, immediately plan to install an additional air supply. To do this, the opening is made a little wider than required by the double-glazed window. This technique is the most effective, and most importantly rational.

Installation instructions for Aereco models

However, what to do if the double-glazed window is already installed? Models from Aereco are installed using a simpler method. It consists in the following:

  • The location for the channel is selected. If possible, this should be the least visible area.

Please note: additional window fittings should not interfere with installation. Consider this fact when choosing a place.

  • Then the marking is done.
  • We fasten the bar to the selected place using special self-tapping screws for PVC structures.
  • We mark the location of the technological grooves on the porch.
  • Let's take the plank. Using a drill and an electric jigsaw, we cut holes in the sash and the frame itself.
  • Re-install the bar.
  • We fix the valve with special latches.

This procedure is relatively labor intensive. In addition, it requires the presence of special tools that are far from everyone. Another factor is that a person without proper experience will not be able to do the job accurately. Conclusion - the installation of such a device is best entrusted to a specialist.

Air-box - installation without problems

There is another technique that anyone can handle. The manufacturer of the air-box has created a model that mounts without the use of tools. The kit includes a special sealant and PVC screws. The work is done in the following sequence:

  • Select the intended installation location.
  • We cut off the standard seal in this place (which is located on the sash).
  • We insert a new one (from the kit).
  • Remove the protective film from the valve.
  • We fix it at the installation site of the new seal using special latches.
  • We close the flaps and make a mark on the frame along the length of the valve.
  • We cut off the existing seal in this place and install a new one in its place (the same from the kit).
