These phenomena indicate that the door needs to be urgently adjusted. If you do not immediately do this, after a short period of time you will not be able to use it fully. And then it will not be necessary to regulate the structure, but to carry out its full repair, which will require serious financial costs. In some cases, running doors even have to be replaced with new ones. Also, adjustment of a plastic balcony door is also necessary in case of implicit violations in its functionality.

Specialists advise to independently check the condition of the structure every 6–12 months using simple techniques. Take a regular sheet from a school notebook. Put it in the middle of the threshold and close the door. The paper sheet should be tightly clamped by the canvas. After that, pull the paper out from under the door and pay attention to the effort applied to complete this operation. Then put the sheet under the other part of the opening. Pull it out again and so on. If the applied force in all areas is the same, there is nothing to worry about. The structure is in good condition. The second way to check is a bit more complicated. You need to arm yourself with a simple pencil and stand in front of the door from the opposite side in the direction of its opening. Then slam the construction shut, outline its perimeter along the edge of the box using a pencil. Open the door and look at the received lines. In cases where they are strictly parallel to the edges of the canvas, everything is fine. If there is no parallelism, you need to figure out how to adjust the plastic door, and proceed with this operation.

Regardless of the results of the check, be sure to adjust the pressure of the structure after the winter, and also before the onset of cold weather. In the spring, the clamping mechanism should be slightly loosened, and in the fall, it should be strengthened. Then the elements of the block will wear out significantly more slowly, which will increase the period of trouble-free operation of the plastic product.

Adjustment options - horizontal and vertical

Plastic structures are adjusted in horizontal, frontal and vertical directions. All operations are performed with the help of simple devices and working tools. Stock up on pliers, screwdrivers (flat and Phillips), tape measure, PVC gaskets, hexagons (it is advisable to have a complete set of such keys with various types of profiles).

Horizontal adjustment of plastic entrance and other types of doors makes it possible to choose the size of the gap between the hinge support and the leaf. A special element, a screw, is responsible for opening to the left or right. It is usually hidden under a special lining that covers the adjustment part we need. When, when closing, the PVC door rubs against the box (along the entire height or only in the middle part) from the side where the locking mechanism is installed, the problem is solved elementarily. Lifting the balcony door with your own hands is done as follows:

• Open the plastic structure, unscrew the screws from all the loops with a 3 mm hexagon. Get access to decorative elements.
• Remove the lining (before that you need to slam the door).
• You can see the adjusting screws in front of you. Turn them clockwise (number of turns - 1-2). It is necessary to turn the screws on all hinges by the same number of turns!
• If the sagging of the door is noted only in the lower left or right corner of the canvas, only the middle and upper loops should be twisted. You don't need to touch the bottom.

Vertical adjustment allows you to choose the optimal height of the plastic structure in relation to the box. Such adjustment is carried out when it is necessary to lower or raise the entire door. The operation is performed by means of screws, which are located at the ends of the (lower) hinges. The adjusting parts are directed along the axis of the latter. On PVC entrance doors, as a rule, the screws are closed with a plug. It needs to be dismantled. The screws are rotated by a 5 mm hexagon. When the adjusting part is turned clockwise, the door structure moves up, against - down.

To adjust the strikers (elements at the bottom and top of the box), a 2.5 mm hex wrench is used. But in this case, you will additionally have to use screwdrivers. They make it possible to move the strikers.

We adjust the position of the clamp using different parts

Frontal adjustment is used when it is necessary to adjust the pressure. This procedure is carried out in different ways, depending on the design features of the plastic product. Pressure adjustment can be made:

1. 1. Eccentrics. They are mounted on the end of the canvas (in relation to the hinges - on the opposite side). It is necessary to turn the eccentrics to ensure the required pressure.
2. 2. Pin. This item is on the door hardware. The pin is adjusted with pliers. If you want to loosen the clamp, it is turned strictly parallel to the plane of the door. Use pliers carefully to avoid damaging the part. To increase the pressure, the trunnion is rotated perpendicularly.
3. 3. Reciprocal level. Under it is a screw for a hexagon of a certain profile. You need to move the bar and conjure with the adjusting element. Check the pressure level after each turn of the screw.

With long-term operation of plastic doors, it becomes more and more difficult to configure them with screws every time. At one point, you will see that the adjusting parts are set to their extreme positions. There is simply nowhere to turn them. In these situations, try adjusting the door with the plastic shims.

Gently pry off the glazing beads that fix the double-glazed window in the door product with a regular chisel. Dismantle them. With small spatulas (sold in building stores), insert PVC gaskets between the canvas and the double-glazed window, thereby changing the geometry of the door. We must say right away that it is difficult to perform such a procedure on your own. It is necessary to select the thickness of the gaskets up to a millimeter and, in addition, know the exact place where they need to be mounted. Dismantled glazing beads must be marked. They must be put back in the same places where they were. When installing glazing beads, use a rubberized hammer. This tool will allow you to accurately knock out fasteners.

Replacing the seal and adjusting the handle - do it right

If the door structure is used skewed for a long time, this is guaranteed to lead to deformation of the seal. Instructions for replacing the latter are given below:

1. 1. Get a new seal. Pay attention to the shape of its section. It must be similar to the previously used product.
2. 2. Using a screwdriver, take out the failed seal.
3. 3. Clean the freed groove from the remnants of the adhesive and dirt. Treat it with glue.
4. 4. Mount the new sealing product. It should freely, without the slightest stretch, sit in the groove.

PVC door handles often become loose during operation. Also, they may not turn completely or go very tight. We will deal with loose handles without difficulty. Dismantle the overlay, which closes the fixation area of ​​the locking mechanism to the canvas. You will see two fasteners in front of you (usually screws). They should be slightly tightened with a screwdriver (Phillips). After such an operation, the pen will again work flawlessly.

Other defects in the locking device in most cases occur due to misalignment of the door. As a rule, after adjusting the canvas according to the methods that we discussed above, the handle begins to function normally. If the adjustment of the PVC construction did not solve the problem with constipation (it still does not close well), you will have to change it.

How to prevent malfunctions in the operation of plastic doors

If you want to configure PVC structures as little as possible, pay special attention to the fittings installed on the door. The mechanisms of the latter should easily withstand loads of up to 120-130 kg. Then you will not think for a very long time how to tighten the door, and figure out why it does not close well. Cheap fittings (in particular, Chinese) are not designed for the specified loads. Its strength limit is 80–90 kg. Naturally, it quickly fails.

In addition, the presence of two important options in it is of great importance for the trouble-free operation of plastic doors - an opening limiter and a microlift. PVC structures are not initially equipped with these devices. They must be ordered separately before installing the plastic product. The opening limiter is a kind of tire. It takes on some of the weight of the door. This significantly reduces the risk of sagging of the plastic web. With proper initial adjustment, the limiter eliminates the possibility of the door hitting the slopes, due to which the period of trouble-free operation of the fittings increases by 2–5 times.

On heavy doors (entrance, balcony), equipped with double-glazed windows with two chambers, it is recommended to install a microlift. This device counteracts the sagging of the canvas, which is in the closed state. The microlift, in its essence, is an additional support element that takes on some of the loads. Structurally, it is made in the form of a roller or a plate of a movable type. They are mounted in the lower part of the door leaf or in its end face.
