Should I shoot green tomatoes? How to speed up the ripening process of tomatoes? How to speed up the ripening of tomatoes in a greenhouse - the secrets of gardeners.

Summer is coming to an end, and tomatoes are in no hurry to ripen. Fortunately, there are ways to speed up this process.

Accelerating the ripening of tomatoes in the garden

Depending on the region, in the first second decade of August, root top dressing, except for potassium humate or ash. These substances, on the contrary, will help the fruits become sweeter and ripen earlier, so 1-2 feedings will not hurt. To make popular folk remedy a glass of ash is stirred in a bucket of water and the bushes are watered under the root. But it is more efficient to process tomatoes with a daily infusion of ash on a leaf. lovers mineral complexes in the first days of August they practice spraying with Plantafol fertilizer - 5:15:45 from Valagro: 1 tbsp. l. for 5 l.

Feeding with potassium according to the sheet - good way accelerate fruit ripening

The water supply at the end of summer is reduced to a minimum. A signal of a critical lack of moisture is a grafted tops. Then the plants are watered, but not abundantly, so that the fruits do not crack.

If there are a lot of tomatoes on the bushes, they are removed in blange ripeness so that the remaining ones turn brown sooner. The fewer tomatoes on the bush, the faster they reach technical maturity.

Barely colored tomatoes at the end of summer are better to quickly remove

Gardeners with experience use other ways to fight for the harvest.

Shelter

Ripe tomatoes should be healthy. However, cold dews lead to the development of late blight. To avoid misfortune, the beds are covered with a film at night. If it is already cold outside, it is recommended to "hide" the tomatoes under cover and from the day's rain.

artificial stress

Tomatoes begin to think about seeds when they are inconvenienced. As long as they are satisfied with everything, the fruits will remain green. There are several ways to “scare” relaxed pets:

  • pierce with the tip sharp knife the base of the stem is 10 cm from the ground and insert a toothpick into the slot;
  • drag stem copper wire at the same height;
  • grab the stem and slowly pull up to tear part of the roots.

These measures will limit the supply of food and disrupt sap flow, which will lead to partial starvation of the plant, and therefore to stress. The tomato will think about the offspring and will soon ripen. The same result is achieved by piercing the shoulders of the fruits (the area near the stalk) 2 times with a disinfected needle. The injury usually heals quickly.

Instead of a toothpick, you can insert copper wire into the stem of a tomato

pruning

If the tomato blooms, ties, and there are frosts on the nose, you will have to ration it. Remove any flower clusters and small ovaries that will probably not have time to grow to full size.

A lot of tops at the final stage only interfere, therefore:

  • cut all the leaves to the fruit brush;
  • remove stepchildren along the entire length of the trunk;
  • pinch the tops.

The leaves above the fruits should not be touched, they are necessary for photosynthesis. Ideally, 4-5 brushes with tomatoes are left on the bush. The purpose of the above actions is to redirect nutrients circulating in the plant, from the tops to the fruits.

Trimming the lower leaves speeds up the ripening of tomatoes

The sun

Tomatoes are sweet only thanks to the sun. Good lighting promotes and rapid maturation: Point and tie fruit clusters so that sunlight falls on them.

Treatment with iodine solution

A popular method for speeding up the coloring of fruits is spraying tomatoes with pharmacy iodine: 30–40 drops per ten-liter bucket. At the same time, this procedure inhibits the growth of pathogenic fungi on the foliage.

Iodine for tomatoes - both a cure for diseases and a ripening stimulant

Chemical stimulation

Scientists have done many experiments to study the processes in ripening vegetables. It turned out that some chemical compounds accelerate the redness of the fruit.

Ethylene

Ripe fruits and vegetables evaporate ethylene gas. The modern summer resident uses this scientific fact for ripening tomatoes right on the bush.

Step-by-step instruction:

  1. Place a ripe tomato banana peel or an apple in a plastic bag.
  2. Put it on a green fruit brush.
  3. Secure at the base of the brush with twine.
  4. After three days, remove the bag.

A ripe vegetable or fruit, releasing harmless biogenic ethylene, will bring the moment of ripening closer. In 80% of cases, the fruits will turn brown in another 3-6 days. At this degree of maturity, tomatoes can already be removed and ripened indoors. Without ethylene treatments, they will only be ripe in 3 weeks.

Tomatoes with apples ripen faster

Large trading companies purchase special hermetic chambers where tomatoes are ripened with ethylene. However, these vegetables are sour in taste.

Alcohol

Another advanced method is ethanol injections, which speed up maturation by 1-2 weeks. 0.5 ml is drawn into the syringe ethyl alcohol or ordinary vodka and make an injection near the stalk to the tomato. After 10 days, the fruit will turn brown. Taste and chemical composition tomatoes treated with vodka practically do not differ from those ripened in traditional ways.

The injection site only on the fruit of a growing tomato heals quickly

ripener

In garden shops, a stimulant based on ethylene producers is sold - Dozrevatel from the Orton or Agromix company. The drug is used for the friendly ripening of already browned tomatoes.

With the help of the ripening stimulator, farmers get a friendly harvest

emergency measures

If frosts are predicted tomorrow, you will have to evacuate your pets from the garden. Bushes are pulled out of the soil and hung upside down in a room with a temperature of at least 13-15 o C. Tomatoes do not break off. Gradually, the nutrients remaining in the tissues of the plant will enter the fruits and they will ripen. Experienced gardeners claim that "suspended" tomatoes are served on the table 2 weeks earlier than ground ones.

Most of the fruits on tomato bushes suspended indoors will definitely ripen

Improving ripening in the greenhouse

The above manipulations are also suitable for greenhouse tomatoes with one caveat that you need to take action 2 weeks later than in open ground. Besides, in unheated greenhouses a maximum of 5-6 fruit clusters are left on the plant, and 10-12 in heated ones.

Tomatoes in a greenhouse are more likely to ripen before cold weather

The increased content of carbon dioxide in the air brings ripening closer, so experienced farmers advise placing containers with fermenting manure or grass in the greenhouse.

I live in warm regions, but since mid-August I have not allowed tomatoes to ripen on the bushes in order to increase the total yield. Every morning I go out into the garden, collect the browned tomatoes and put them in boxes, which I put in the pantry. I water a little, without this, the tomatoes will simply dry out in the August heat.

I pinch the tops, normalize the brushes, but I noticed that cutting off the leaves to stimulate ripening is not suitable for all varieties. All kinds of cream with a dense skin react as expected - ripen faster. And thin-skinned lettuce varieties burst from the additional influx of juices. Therefore, on the latter, I leave all the leaves, except for the lower ones, since the damaged tomatoes will not ripen, but will rot. It happens that the cracks in the fruits heal, scar, then after removing them from the bush, I rub them with ashes. The alkaline environment does not allow the tomatoes to “pick up” the infection and deteriorate.

We accelerate the ripening of tomatoes in the greenhouse - video

Experienced gardeners already in June begin to "puzzle" their brains on the subject of accelerating the ripening of tomatoes in a greenhouse or open field. After all, the Russian summer is short and people throw away bushes with unripe fruits after the first September rains (smoothly turning into frosts). Many gardeners use ripening as one of the ways to speed up the ripening of tomatoes.

Any of the ways to stimulate the ripening of tomatoes is suitable for suburban area both for greenhouse vegetables and grown on open ground. By combining the following techniques, you can control the formation of fruits in tomatoes, accelerate their development and ripening. Processed tomatoes ripen for a week and a half ahead of schedule. In addition, well-groomed tomatoes simple varieties will be as well protected from blossom end rot as some hybrid counterparts.

Stepchildren at the tomato extra shoots

The larger (bigger) the bush, the longer the tomatoes will ripen. side shoots draw off nutrients and interfere with the formation of the main clusters. Metabolic processes in a neglected plant proceed more slowly, and signs of late blight and vertex rot appear on its fruits (more details,). The pasynkovanny tomato develops quickly and gives a quality crop.

The first stripping of side shoots is carried out when transplanting seedlings into the ground on the site. Subsequent - as the bush overgrows, but at least once a week. The last stepson (especially in conditions Middle lane) falls at the end of July. By this time, we cut off all the leaves and branches to the upper flower brush (or maybe you?). It is best to use scissors or secateurs. Moving from one vegetable to another, it is advisable to disinfect the blades in a 1% solution of potassium permanganate. After pruning, a stump remains at the place of the escape. He will not let the bush start a new forcing.

Removed lashes and leaves should be collected in a bucket and disposed of, because they provoke infectious plant diseases. It is best to lay the tops in compost pit(box) in the garden. In her plant remains become a natural substrate.

Pinching in cultivation

The fruits of the first brush (the earliest) are often subject to fasciation. This physiological disorder is associated with diurnal temperature fluctuations. As a result of a sharp change in weather, distorted tomato fruits are formed. Such tomatoes do not sing well and grow slowly. They are disposed of in order to accelerate the growth of others.

In the third decade of July, we remove from grown vegetables small fruits, ovaries and inflorescences. They do not ripen by the end of the summer season, but they absorb a lot of energy and top dressing. In late-ripening varieties (we read about), we cut off the tops.

The operation to remove neoplasms is called tweezing - pinching. It should be carried out with protective gloves, because the tops used to cause itching and inflammation. greenhouse tomatoes in the garden we pinch three weeks later than those growing in open soil. In heated greenhouses and greenhouses, we leave 10 lashes on the plant, in cold ones - 6. We collect the last crop after the first frost.

We arm ourselves with a needle

Abundant watering is necessary for young ovaries, but is harmful for already browned tomatoes. With a needle or toothpick, we make 3-4 longitudinal punctures on the stalk of the vegetable. through holes limit the supply of moisture and nutrients to the pulp. Over time, they will overgrow, but the vegetation will not resume. The tomato will stop growing and begin to ripen. The same effect can be achieved by breaking a branch with a bunch of green tomatoes. This method prevents the formation of rot and allows you to properly redistribute water and mineral resources.

We get iodine from the first-aid kit

Leaf and root baits with iodine also accelerate the ripening of tomatoes. We carry out the first treatment on the site during the period of budding of inflorescences, the second - in a couple of weeks. In order to prepare the composition, dilute 40 drops of pharmacy iodine in 10 liters warm water. We fill the spray bottle (sprayer) with the solution and process the leaves. Or pour up to half a liter of solution under each plant.

Introduction to Vodka Injection Tomatoes

In a green tomato at the base of the stem, we inject a little ethanol (vodka) solution with a syringe. "Alcoholized", the crop ripens 16 days ahead of schedule. The vodka introduced into the peel splits and does not affect taste qualities and chemical composition of the product. In addition, the seeds of such tomatoes are absolutely healthy and can give good shoots next season.

We attach a ripe tomato to a green bunch of tomatoes

Ethylene activates the ripening process of tomatoes. A high concentration of ethylene ether is found in ripe fruits. Experienced gardeners familiar with such a system always put ripe tomatoes in boxes (boxes) for ripening (preferably in the dark, but, in extreme cases, you can cover with newspaper or light fabric). As a result, the brown flesh of vegetables turns red in a couple of days. If you don't want to harvest ahead of time, place a ripe tomato in a clear plastic bag and place it over a bunch of brown fruits. The maturation period will be reduced by one and a half weeks. I want to note that this method is controversial, since vegetables must "breathe", which they do, releasing moisture, and in a confined space this is fraught. What we read about in the next paragraph.

We stop watering and feeding tomatoes

Entering a greenhouse or garden early in the morning, we will see how moisture accumulates on the leaves of plants. This process is called guttation. With it, the bushes themselves emit excess moisture. And the colder the night is, the more vegetables "cry" in the morning. At the end of summer, tomatoes took strength and filled with juice. They no longer need nutrients from the soil, and rare rains are enough to maintain the main vegetative processes in the stems.

Therefore, by continuing to water abundantly, remember that the tomatoes will get rid of excess water. At low night temperatures, this will lead to wilting of the bushes and curling of the leaves. In addition, in greenhouses with high humidity multiply fungal infections destroying crops.

Tighten the stems with wire

If we finally stopped watering, and the end of the season turned out to be rainy and cloudy, we are in a hurry to limit the flow of water to the stems. The easiest method is to pull the bush until the root system crackles. Damaged roots will not be able to saturate the plants with moisture and vegetables will stop "sweating" at night.

Another way is splitting the stem. You will need a knife and wood chips. Measure 12 cm from the base of the trunk, stick a knife into it and draw a ten-centimeter cut up. Insert a small spacer between the pieces. This will help speed up the ripening of the tomatoes. If the main stem of the bush is thin and it is not possible to cut it, we will carry out an annular winding. Why, at a height of four centimeters from the soil, we pull the trunk with copper wire.

In addition to the general ones, there are other systems of "work" with green fruits.

Special methods for accelerating the ripening of tomatoes (for open ground)

Let's consider them in more detail.

Orientation - in the sun

Tomatoes are heliophyte plants. We plant them on sunny plots of land at a sufficient (60-70 cm) distance. This distance provides the fruits with not only access to light, but also aeration (blowing). The latter prevents the tomato from rotting on the bush. In the second decade of July, we turn branches with large leaves towards the sun and install them on special spacers. Of course, this is a chore, but such orientation speeds up metabolic processes in stems and helps ripen brown vegetables.

Drying the bush

Before the first frost, plants with open area cut at the root and dry in a warm, ventilated area. To do this, tops with green tomatoes are hung upside down and small vegetables and ovaries are peeled off. Tomatoes ripened on the bush will be tastier and more nutritious than those that have been ripened in boxes or boxes.

We use copper-containing preparations when spraying a tomato

In August (at different regions the dates this month are very different) the first cold dew begins to fall. It cannot harm greenhouse plants, but bushes in the open field become ill with late blight. Sorry, I lied a little, do not forget about the high humidity (like ours) in July and beyond in some regions! Gray spots cover the fruits and tops, which leads to the death of vegetables. But you can wrest additional time from nature for the ripening of tomatoes. Why from the beginning of July it is worth starting processing with HOM, as one of the most effective drugs containing copper, destroying phytophthora in the bud. Or, at least, very constraining its development.

In August, the tomato harvest is in full swing. But weather, established during this period in our region, often force gardeners to remove from 30 to 70% of the fruits of this crop unripe in order to avoid damage. However, these figures can be significantly reduced if the summer resident uses some agricultural practices aimed at accelerating the filling and ripening of tomatoes.
First of all, for planting it is necessary to use early and mid-season varieties and hybrids that are able to give their crop in a shorter growing season than their late-ripening counterparts. In addition, the landing site must certainly be open and well warmed up by the sun's rays throughout the day.
In order to redirect nutrients to the filling and ripening of fruits, it is necessary in August to periodically (1 time in 7-10 days) cut off 2-3 lower leaves on each bush. They often have a pale green or yellow color, as they are shaded by the upper younger leaves and do little to no benefit to the plant, but only draw juices from it. In addition, such pruning improves air exchange inside the bush, and better-lit fruits begin to ripen much faster.
For the same purpose in the first decade of August, it is necessary to pinch the growing point of each plant, as well as remove all inflorescences and small newly appeared ovaries, which definitely will not have time to pour and ripen on time.
Also during this period, to accelerate the ripening of tomatoes, you can spray the bushes on the leaves with a solution of iodine. To prepare it for 10 liters of water, you need to take 30-40 drops of iodine and use this amount of solution for irrigation 1.5 running meters beds.
In order to reduce the risk of plant infection with late blight in August, which is caused by cold dews that fall due to the difference in day and night temperatures, it makes sense to install arcs over the bed and put a film on them at night. Under such shelter, the bushes will remain dry, which will favorably affect the quality of the fruit.
In early August, stop watering and fertilizing plants. This will result in more fleshy tomatoes, which with this approach can accumulate enough sugars and turn out to be sweeter and tastier.
If possible, it is desirable to turn all the brushes towards the sun, securing them with spacers, and put slingshots under them to avoid breaking them off under the weight of pouring fruits.
Some summer residents use one simple trick to speed up the ripening of tomatoes - they put a plastic bag on each brush, at the bottom of which a small hole is made to drain condensate. Inside the package, the temperature is set higher than in the open air, the concentration of ethylene released by the fruits increases, and this contributes to their faster ripening. In addition, the experience of gardeners indicates that plastic bags protect fruits from late blight.
To accelerate the ripening of tomatoes experienced gardeners at a height of 8-10 cm from the soil surface, a small through longitudinal incision is made in the stem of each plant. Then a wooden chip is inserted into it so as to push the walls of the stem by 1-1.5 cm. In this case, the size of the fruits remains the same, but they are in short time take on the characteristic color of the variety.
For the same purpose, you can gently tear the roots of the plant, pulling it up a little. In this case, due to the deformation of the root system, the supply of moisture and nutrition is reduced, which contributes to faster and more uniform ripening of the crop.
A thin copper wire or synthetic twine helps to limit the access of nutrients and, accordingly, accelerate the ripening of fruits, with several turns of which, at a height of 4-5 cm from the ground, pull the stem of the plant.
Bringing tomatoes in the garden to full ripeness does not make sense, thus reducing their overall yield. To enable the rest of the fruits to ripen as soon as possible, brown unripe tomatoes should be plucked from the bushes 1-2 times a week. Moreover, it is desirable to collect them in the early morning hours so that they do not have time to warm up in the sun. They are laid out for ripening in a dry, ventilated room. It is worth noting that in the light, tomatoes ripen in a shorter time, and in a dark room - more slowly, but more evenly.
To speed up, they can be folded into carton boxes by placing a few red copies next to them. The boxes must be covered and placed in a room with an air temperature of 20-25°C. In a closed warm space, the concentration of ethylene gas released by tomatoes increases significantly, which significantly reduces the ripening period of this vegetable. In addition, it should be borne in mind that under any equal conditions large fruits mature faster than smaller ones.

Many people wonder why the tomatoes in the greenhouse do not turn red and ripen poorly. There may be several reasons why a tomato does not ripen in a greenhouse. Consider the main reasons in the article.

Tomato ripening process

In the first 30 days after the ovary, the tomatoes grow rapidly, and the next 20-25 days they fill and turn red. A tomato is considered to be of high quality, which has poured and turned red even in the garden, before harvesting. This is a sign that the tomato contains the entire set useful substances and has excellent taste.

There are types of tomatoes that have a yellow or green color. Familiarize yourself with the characteristics of the variety - perhaps it should not blush.

But if a variety should ripen in the garden, but it does not ripen on time, then there are certain reasons that arise when grown both in open ground and in greenhouse conditions.

Causes of unripe tomatoes

If your tomatoes in a well-equipped greenhouse do not turn red, you can conclude that they are missing something. What factors can interfere with normal development vegetable crop And the fact that she does not mature well?

  1. Air temperature. The optimal range is from 22 to 29 °C. With hypothermia or excessive heating in a vegetable, lycopene metabolism is lost. Tomatoes acquire a bright yellow color and no longer turn red.
  2. excessive solar lighting adversely affects the development of the plant: the fruits can simply burn out. However, tomatoes should not be kept in the dark either.
  3. Microclimate. Avoid advanced level humidity in the greenhouse and sharp fluctuations in temperature.
  4. Planting density. The distance between the bushes should be at least 30 cm. Densely planted to each other, the fruits ripen unevenly.
  5. Fertilizer. An excess of nitrogen leads to a slowdown in ripening and staining of the leaves in a gray-golden color. In turn, an insufficient amount of potassium in the soil leads to stiffening of the stems, resulting in a backwardness in the formation of tomatoes with a properly gained mass.
  6. Sort. For each climate zone there are most suitable varieties tomato. In places with predominantly cold weather, early ripening varieties are preferred.

maturation stimulation

  1. Iodine deficiency will help to make up for foliar top dressing from an iodine solution (35 drops) per 10 liters of boiled water.
  2. In autumn, plants cannot get enough sunlight. To provide your tomatoes with the warmth of the rays as much as possible, cut off all the extra leaves from the bush and turn it to sunny side. Remove all obstacles that prevent rays from entering. Budding during the cold season is rather unpromising, so it is recommended to carefully remove flowering buds. New fruits are unlikely to have time to ripen before the onset of frost. When they come, move the plants to the most warm corner greenhouse or cover with a cloth so that they do not freeze.
  3. Pasynkovanie and trimming brushes will also help when the vegetable does not ripen evenly. Cut leaves and shoots to those areas where the fruits are already ripe and have had time to pour, and new ones will not form. In this way, you save more nutrition for the needy fetuses, and they will develop faster.
  4. To protect plants from infection, which can also cause underripe, treat the leaves with protective solutions: vitriol or folk methods, garlic water diluted with alcohol - 2-3 times for a week and a half.
  5. If the tomatoes in the greenhouse do not turn red well, ethyl alcohol helps to speed up the process. You need to sprinkle a few drops of it close to the root of the tomato. In the near future, the fruits that are lagging behind in development will catch up with the already ripened specimens and will develop faster in the future.
  6. A popular procedure among vegetable growers is to cut the metabolic process of the upper and lower sides of the bushes. To do this, the stalk of tomatoes is cut and a metal wire is inserted into it.
  7. If you put an unripe fruit next to a ripe tomato, then after some time it will begin to ripen faster thanks to ethylene. The statement is not scientific, but it is still possible to try to accelerate ripening and redness in this way.

Features of care

If all the tomatoes in the greenhouse do not turn red, the fault is improper care for them. In rare cases, the matter lies in the shortcomings of the variety itself.

Growing in a greenhouse has its own nuances. high humidity does not have a very good effect on the formation of fruits, although they like the soil richly moistened. Therefore, make sure that the level does not exceed the norm.

none artificial lighting cannot replace a natural light source for a plant. Still, try to provide the maximum that special lamps for greenhouses can give.

A little more, and the summer will end. The nights are getting colder, and summer residents will face traditional competitions in the fall: who will overtake whom. Either we will be able to preserve the harvest “in the vine” as much as possible until the very frosts, or the bad weather will playfully sweep away everything green and unripe from the bushes in an instant ...

The issue of ripening green tomatoes is especially acute today, because there are still a lot of ovaries and very young fruits on the bushes, and there are less and less warm days suitable for their ripening.

How to speed up the ripening of green tomatoes

There are several ways that will make it clear to tomato bushes that you need to "add speed" and start to blush faster. And these methods should be applied already today, in the "ambulance" mode.

Removing new flower stalks

New buds and flowers, which the plant continues to "drive out", are simply not needed today. Young tomatoes still will not have time to ripen, and they will take away the strength from the bush, so all the tops of tall bushes need to be pinched or cut off, and all inflorescences removed. On medium-sized and undersized bushes (even if it’s a pity) you will have to remove all the “extra” flower brushes - on a large number of they no longer have enough fruit.

The release of the bush from the lower leaves and stepchildren

It is necessary to inspect all the bushes and remove new stepchildren. And all the lower leaves, up to those brushes on which tomatoes ripen, too.

In the next video, Natalya Petrenko will show how the removal of flower brushes and stepchildren is carried out in practice:

"solar" orientation

In order for the tomato bushes to get the maximum of the autumn sun, try to remove all the extra leaves, and turn the twigs as much as possible towards the light. On a trellis, this is easy to do with the help of garter material, and the branches of undersized bushes can be fixed with spacers or tied to additional stakes.

Iodine top dressing

It is known that top dressing with iodine accelerates the ripening of tomatoes. Spend 1-2 foliar top dressing on the leaves with a weak solution of iodine (at the rate of 30-40 drops per 10 liters of water) - this will only benefit.

Prevention of late blight

Although autumn is already “on the nose”, it is not recommended to stop. You can spray tomatoes with infusion of garlic in dry warm weather (this will definitely be the last time). If your tomatoes grow outdoors, it is advisable to cover the bushes with a film for the night. This will also protect tomatoes from late blight: the bushes will not get wet from dew, and the fruits will remain dry.

Forced Power Restriction

Some summer residents practice quite frightening, at first glance, methods that contribute to the rapid ripening of tomatoes. Their meaning is to limit the supply of nutrients to the plant, and the actions resemble a surgical operation:
  • At a height of 10-12 cm from the ground in a tomato stem, a blade is made through cut, into which the prepared in advance is immediately inserted flat wooden plate 0.5 x 2 cm in size - such a tissue gap does not overlap, but significantly limits both the influx of nutrients and their outflow.
  • At the same height thin copper wire the stem is slightly pulled across, and this constriction is fixed. The same limiting effect is achieved.
  • A tomato bush is taken at the base of the stem and slightly pulled out of the soil- to a faint crunch of tearing thin roots. The bush is released, and the mass of torn roots stops working - to deliver water and nutrients.
In the next video, Harvest club chairman Galina Volkova will show you how to implement these three methods:

"Teaching by example"

A long-known fact: if you put ripe tomatoes next to green ones, then the redness of unripe counterparts accelerates many times over. There is a very simple explanation for this: ripe tomato ethylene (as a catalyst) - but it looks really impressive :)

So, if you “put on” a bag with a red fruit inside right on a bunch of green tomatoes and, tying it to the stem, leave it for three days, and then remove it, then literally for 2-3 days the green tomatoes will start to turn brown, while in a natural way this process would begin only after 2.5-3 weeks. To conduct such an experiment is the business of every gardener!

The report that scientists tested the effect of ethyl alcohol on the ripening process of tomatoes was not at all surprising. Our people would be completely “not our people” if they didn’t treat their favorite vegetable with vodka ... But, most surprisingly, the experiment was a complete success.

So write down: if through the nest green tomato with a syringe to inject 0.5 ml of vodka inside, then the ripening will accelerate (and after 15-16 days, it may fully ripen). Moreover, scientists guarantee that the chemical composition of such “drunk” tomatoes will not differ from ordinary ones.

harvesting brown fruits

To give you the opportunity to mature as much as possible more tomatoes on the bushes, brown fruits need to be removed. They are already able to reach ripeness with home ripening, and the bush will throw all its strength into the remaining green tomatoes.

Brown fruits must be removed

Relocation under the roof

If the cold has already come, and on your tomato bushes there are many more green fruits, you can, by pulling the plants out of the soil along with the roots, move them to an enclosed space - a shed, change house or garage - where to hang them. Then the ripening process will continue almost naturally, "on the vine".

And finally, as an example of the opportunity to harvest tomatoes until the very frosts, there is a video where we will visit Valery Medvedev's greenhouse in October:

Autumn and cold will still take their toll, but it's great to realize that you can still win back your well-deserved kilograms of priceless harvest from nature on your own and with very simple methods!

Tomatoes

Join us - and our kilograms will turn into centners and tons! And what? Or are we not gardeners?
