The better to glue the fireplace out of the boxes. Why is it worth making a fireplace out of boxes? Do-it-yourself fake fireplace - we create a New Year's atmosphere

Winter celebrations are coming. So I want to create in the house the atmosphere of not just a holiday, but also a real one. winter comfort. How to do it? We suggest you make a fireplace out of cardboard with your own hands. For this you do not need any super expensive materials or transcendental knowledge, and the result will nevertheless be amazing. Do you remember the old good fairy tale about Pinocchio? After all, there, too, in Papa Carlo's closet, a hearth was painted, while those around them did not even know that it was not real. Well, let's try to master this unusual art!

As you probably know, cardboard is environmentally friendly. pure material, from which for more than a decade they have been making various elements decor, furniture and even houses (although these are Western technologies). However, lovers of non-standard types of needlework also did not leave cardboard unattended. So, let's assume that things are moving towards the New Year. Well, a great excuse to turn ordinary cardboard into a real work of architectural art.

We make a cardboard fireplace with painted fire

This step-by-step instruction will not cause difficulties even for beginners, so you can safely prepare the materials necessary for work, namely:

  • thick, even cardboard;
  • ruler, pencil and centimeter;
  • Styrofoam;
  • paints and brushes;
  • sponge
  • stencil under brickwork;
  • tape or glue.

Let's start our master class:

  1. To begin with, we cut out two rectangles measuring 110x60 centimeters from suitable cardboard density. The color of the cardboard in this case does not matter, because in the future we will decorate it. But, of course, the cardboard should have a smooth surface without visible damage and strong creases. It is very important!
  2. Further, along the narrow side of each rectangle, we perforate every 15 centimeters. In the future, along this perforation, we fold a square column with a width of both sides of 15 cm and a height of 110 cm, respectively.
  3. We proceed to the formation of fireplace racks. We will make them in a brick manner. To do this, draw a pattern on each of the columns that imitates brickwork. For greater convenience, we recommend using stencils. This will make it easier and faster. You can make such a stencil yourself, or you can buy ready-made.
  4. Now we take another sheet of cardboard and cut out two more rectangles from it. This will be the base of our fireplace and its top. Dimensions in this case should be determined individually.
  5. Please note that the parts cut out by us, placed on brick racks (those prepared in the previous step) must necessarily protrude on the sides. Ideally, they should be at least 2 times wider than the columns themselves.
  6. In order to give the bases greater thickness and volume, we thicken them with foam, and then paint the entire resulting structure (all parts) in a certain color. We recommend choosing a white color to match the foam.
  7. Now we fix the racks we have obtained to the bases. To do this, we use either glue or adhesive tape (whoever prefers). However, do not forget that the bonding material as a result should not be visible from the front of our false cardboard fireplace.
  8. Now cut out another rectangle from cardboard. This will be the back wall of our fireplace. Using a sponge, prime the resulting wall with black and gray paint. This coloring will perfectly convey the feeling of a few charred walls. It will be very effective.
  9. After the paint has dried, paint on back wall fireplace fire, supplying it with cheerful tongues of flame. Here you can connect fantasy using different colors, felt-tip pens, etc.
  10. We wait for complete drying, after which we glue the wall to our bases and racks. It remains only to put a little dry firewood to the fireplace to give it even more naturalness. In the photo below you can see what happened:

Of course, the proposed scheme of actions can be supplemented by you with some other nuances and details. For example, you can paint the entire false fireplace to look like brickwork. Or even choose a different color that matches the interior of your home.

In addition, the fireplace can be decorated with various decorative elements: vases, figurines and other New Year's decorations can be placed on the top shelf. And the deepening of the fireplace can be protected with a real forged fence, suitable in size. A DIY Christmas wreath would look great on the wall above the fireplace.

Craftsmen-professionals even make lighting at the bottom of the fireplace, which will later imitate the burning of a flame, but this, as they say, is from the category of higher matters. In the videos below, you can also find a lot of useful information on this occasion. Happy Holidays!

Do-it-yourself fake fireplace - we create a New Year's atmosphere

As unbelievable as it may sound, you can really make a decorative fireplace portal out of cardboard boxes.

As you can see, making a cardboard fireplace with your own hands is very simple. After installing the fireplace in the place of your choice, you can start decorating it with various accessories. Now you need to decide on the method of attaching the portal to the base of the fireplace.

Having prepared the elements of the fireplace, we begin by creating the base of the fireplace.

Your fireplace will consist of three main parts: the base, the portal and the top shelf.

We note that the folds of the box can also be used rationally and they are quite suitable for the corners of the fireplace.

There are very few of them, so you do not need large investments to create a cardboard fireplace.

And here it is shown how easy and quick it is to make a New Year's false fireplace from a cardboard box. On the mantelpiece you can arrange little things dear to your heart. The final step in creating a false fireplace made of cardboard will be painting it with water-based paint.

The top mantel does not have to be installed. Next, cut out the layout of the fireplace. According to the previously prepared sketch, we draw the details of the fireplace on the spread cardboard.

But if you want to be creative, you can construct a false polyurethane fireplace with your own hands from semi-columns, platbands and moldings.

It can be photographs, vases, some crafts, and much more. You can make it either pure white, or add your chosen color scheme and highlight the tone of the stucco elements. Also, in the hearth of the fireplace, you can create an imitation of brickwork using rectangular pieces of cardboard.

These can be painted patterns or decorating the front of the fireplace by highlighting the niche of the hearth with the help of thinly sliced molding, after which stucco elements are also attached.

After that you can add decorative elements.

How to make a fireplace out of a box with a solid back

Making a fireplace from cardboard boxes with your own hands is not so difficult - just find large cardboard packaging from furniture or household appliances.

This easy process will take you a minimum of time, but it will wonderfully decorate your home. To create a fake fireplace, you will need a minimum of tools and an empty cardboard box.

In the niche of the hearth, you can place waxed candles or decorate it with diode bulbs. To create this shelf, we cut out 3-4 parts of the same size from the box.

By established sizes according to the sketch, an ordinary box is assembled, with a solid back wall.

We also start by cutting out the portal panels drawn on the box.

The second option is to install the portal on the surface on a fully sealed box.

If one of the adjacent walls is the side of the cabinet, then it is necessary to calculate the dimensions so that the finished structure is flush with the cabinet and does not protrude.

The thickness depends on your wishes, you can make it a small twig or a larger log. Their width can be made the same or slightly larger than the width of the portal. Otherwise, the whole structure will collapse. When installing the top shelf, remember that its weight should not exceed the weight of the fireplace base.

But if you're going to put heavy objects on it, like vases, for example, then just the top of the box won't be enough to hold it.

Then we install the prepared portal, fixing it securely to the base with construction tape.

The ribs can be assembled into a lattice, or they can be randomly glued to the bottom and lid of the box.

To do this, we make a thinner tube, after the bonding glue dries, the branch is cut into small knots, which we then attach to the logs. Next, we create knots for these logs. Strips of cardboard are cut, which are then folded into a tube.

It must be said right away that there is nothing particularly difficult in the manufacture of this decor element, and it can be performed not only by a man with skills in construction, but also by the owner of the apartment.

Making them is very easy. Therefore, it is desirable to make it still more rigid.

How to make a decorative fireplace with imitation fire

It should be noted here that there are also several options for the execution of the portal. There may be two options.

Having decided on the dimensions, we create a sketch, where we mark all the dimensions.

Before proceeding with the direct creation of a fireplace, it is necessary to carry out a series preparatory work. By planning everything well, you will ensure the quality of the result.

For example, you can make a fireplace out of boxes with your own hands - let it not be able to warm the apartment, but it will definitely add comfort and cheer up your household.

It all depends on your imagination. We nurtured the idea of a fireplace for a very long time, went to all kinds of construction markets and to stores, but since the real one didn’t suit us, we sorted through the options.

Great site. Thanks a lot! Let's remember the happy childhood of the era of developed socialism together.

First option

Having decided on the installation location of the decorative element in the room, for future design You can choose the shape and size. Implementation is presented in several stages:

Second option

To implement a fireplace idea similar to the first version, you will need 2 rectangular boxes small size and 1 flat wide off modern TV. It is necessary to glue them, giving the structure a semblance of a real heating unit. If the height of the side walls does not match, it is necessary to cut one of them with a knife. Stages:

Third option (corner)

If you want to have such an element of decor in a room where there is not so much space, corner installation will be pretty good option. Thus, it will come out not only to update and decorate the interior of your personal space, but also to get additional space for arranging figurines and other similar decorations.

Fourth option

And finally, we suggest studying the photo instruction for making a fireplace for the New Year from ordinary unnecessary boxes.

Many people do not even realize that in the usual standard high-rise apartment big city you can make a fireplace. Of course, it will not be real, but it will give the room romanticism and unique sophistication. The interior will immediately sparkle with other colors and all family members will want to gather in the evenings by this fireplace and arrange gatherings. An imitation of such an interior item can be made from ordinary cardboard or a cardboard box. The material should be dense, so it is better to use a box from a TV or other household appliances.

First, it is better to make a "pattern" on a large sheet of paper so as not to spoil the box. It is easier to make a fireplace in the form of a rectangle or square, as rounded lines may not work. It will be difficult to draw them perfectly correctly and evenly. Measure using a large ruler. The width of the entire product will be a little more than 100 centimeters, and the height will be 70-80 centimeters, depending on personal preferences, but you should not make it too low - it will be ugly.

First you need to draw a rectangle with a length equal to the length of the fireplace - this is the base, and no more than 10 centimeters wide. A large square 41 × 55 cm in size is drawn in the middle. This is not quite a square, since this geometric figure all sides are equal, it can be called "almost a square". This will be an imitation of a firebox.

Now you need to draw small rectangles with sides of 18 × 39 cm - these are the side parts that serve as decoration. Another decoration is top part this piece of furniture. It will consist of three elements:

  • square 20 × 20 cm - 2 pieces;
  • rectangle 20 × 55 cm - 1 piece.

The visor of the fireplace is made in the form of a trapezoid of arbitrary sizes, but in length it must be equal to the base. The width of the fireplace-box itself can be any, the main thing is that it harmoniously fits into the interior, to the existing furniture. After the drawing is completed, it is necessary to cut out all the parts and transfer the dimensions to the cardboard. If they were drawn on white paper, then you can stick them on the future fireplace as a decor, but you can dream up and come up with another decoration.

Materials and tools

To create such original item The interior will need very few materials and tools. This is a very simple product, the creation of which does not require large investments. And so, for the fireplace we need:

  1. TV box or other thick cardboard;
  2. a knife for cutting drywall (you can use another one, it should cut the details inside the drawing well);
  3. scissors;
  4. stapler medium size;
  5. pencil, long ruler;
  6. brick wallpaper or white paper, glue;
  7. construction and double-sided tape;
  8. a set of garlands in the form of candles or real small candles in an aluminum frame.
  1. According to the previously prepared drawing, it is necessary to cut out the layout of the fireplace.
  2. To make the structure strong and stable, construction tape is glued around the entire perimeter at the joints of the cardboard. First you need to fasten everything with a stapler.
  3. Now the “firebox” is cut out with a drywall knife.
  4. If you wish, you can make a pallet in the "firebox" to raise the bottom inner part, so you get a niche that will look like a real fireplace. But you can skip this part if you don't want to.
  5. Double-sided tape should be applied to the back of the fireplace so that it can be firmly installed against a wall or furniture.

Do not worry if the joints are visible, as the next step can fix this.

How to decorate a fireplace

At this stage, decoration begins. Outside and inside, glue the cardboard with brick-like wallpaper or white paper. Add decorative elements - draw patterns or glue bricks, cutting them out first. From above, the fireplace and its back part can be pasted over not with wallpaper under a brick, but with an adhesive film under a tree. Thanks to this move, the product will look more believable.

Hang a garland or beautifully put it inside a niche, as well as put candles and light them. It is only necessary to ensure that the fireplace does not catch fire, especially if there are small children at home. If there are creative inclinations, then you can paste over the resulting product with white paper and independently draw any patterns in the form of arches and columns.

Let's summarize:

  1. Making a fake fireplace out of cardboard is very simple, you just need to try a little and turn on your imagination.
  2. For such an interior item, you only need scissors, glue, adhesive tape, cardboard and decoration elements.
  3. The decor is made of wallpaper, self-adhesive film or an independent drawing on white paper.
  4. You can install the resulting fireplace near the wall or near the cabinet, gluing the structure for strength with double-sided tape.

You can decorate:
Wallpaper under a brick;
Self-adhesive film;
Paints;
Construction border.

In order to start decorating, you need to paste over the boxes with whatman paper or paper, or foam. This is necessary in order for the surface to be even. If the fireplace will be painted "under the brick", then it is necessary to paint the surface in white paint to simulate a primer. In addition, the paint will be able to hide all the inscriptions and stickers on the boxes, because they can be colored. If you paint the fireplace “like a brick”, you need to draw the bricks with a pencil, and carefully paint over them without staining the so-called white primer. Also, the place of the primer can be glued with tape, which can be easily torn off. With this method, the errors will remain on the tape, and not on the primer.

If the fireplace will be decorated with a building border, then it will need to be glued according to the developed idea. It is necessary to glue the border on strong glue. The top of the craft must be pasted over with a thicker and more pompous border, and the walls with a thinner one. Various balustrades can be glued inside the formed areas. These balustrades can be in the form of angels, candles, or some other ornament.

After pasting the ornament and the building plinth or border, it is necessary to paint the fireplace in the desired color. The painting technique depends on the desired effect. You can paint:

in aged technique,
create a modern and trendy fireplace,
Decorate using decoupage technique.

The photos below will help you decide which paint to choose for the craft.

The fireplace can be painted red, white, gold or Brown color. Red is always associated with the New Year holidays. It goes well with white, green and blue.

To simulate fire, you can make a metal stand that protects the cardboard and put a candle in it. This must be approached very carefully, because safety depends on it. In no case should the fire come into contact with the cardboard and not go beyond the area of the iron stand. You can also print a photo of a burning fire in the fireplace and paste it into the fire area. It is also possible to order a 3D image of the fire online. Such a fire will shimmer beautifully. You can also buy an electronic painting depicting fire. A great solution would be to cover the place for the fire with a garland. The garland will shimmer with various lights, reminiscent of a fairy tale.

When the fireplace is completely made, it is necessary to determine its location. It will become the main decoration of the room.

After all this, it is necessary to decorate the fireplace in the New Year's style, decorating it with Christmas tree decorations, spruce branches, snowflakes, figures of Santa Claus and the Snow Maiden. In addition, the decor of socks hung on the fireplace looks great. These socks can fit new Year gifts. Candles placed on the surface of crafts will add romance and will look advantageous on New Year's Eve.

Creating a wall fireplace

A fake wall-mounted fireplace made of boxes is very often found in the apartments of urban residents. To make such a piece of furniture, you need to prepare the following materials and tools:

Step-by-step instruction to create a fake fireplace from boxes:

  • First, a sketch of the future structure is made on paper. Masters without imagination can find a fireplace diagram on the Internet. The figure shows the dimensions of the parts.
  • For convenience, the installation layout is transferred to a cardboard box. To make it easier to work, all the main lines are applied with a pen or marker, auxiliary lines with a pencil.

  • In the lower part of the box, a clerical knife (cutter) makes a furnace rectangular hole for the “fire”. The cut blades of the box are glued to the back wall of the package. If the box is very large, then the excess part is simply cut off.

  • After creating the main frame, proceed to finishing work. The surface of the box can be pasted over with wallpaper, film or tracing paper. Many craftsmen apply Chinese ornaments using special prepared templates. If you are planning to do classic version fireplace, then most often they resort to the following decoration technology. Separate parts are cut out of foam borders to create decorative ornament. They cut the foam at an angle of 45 degrees, so that later the parts can be easily assembled into squares / rectangles.

Advice! You can buy parts for decorating a fireplace (borders, skirting boards, etc.) at any hardware store.

  • Squares and rectangles are made from cut planks on the walls of the future fireplace and glued to the surface of the box. Usually, the figures are placed symmetrically to each other, two rectangles on each side relative to the furnace hole and directly above it. The place for the "hearth" can also be decorated with such borders.

Advice! As a decoration, some use foam parts in the form of angels, flowers, etc.

  • In the upper part of the decorative fireplace from the boxes, you need to glue the plinth. It forms a mantelpiece and gives the building a finished look.

Important! The fireplace mantel is made from thicker foam or plywood.

  • The material under the shelf is glued to the top of the fireplace.

  • Next, start painting the box. The most commonly used water-based paint is white. If you plan to make a decorative antique fake fireplace, then instead of coloring compositions, use the usual putty for drywall. It is applied to the future fireplace and dried with a building hair dryer.

Advice! The paint is applied in several layers with a brush, in hard-to-reach places sponge is used for coating.

The wall-mounted fireplace from the boxes is ready, it remains only to decorate the structure. To simulate fire, a photograph of a live fire can be glued to the inner wall of the hearth. You can put home-made "firewood" in the firebox or put candlesticks. It all depends on the flight of the master's imagination.

Workshop on creating a corner fireplace from boxes

Corner raised fireplace is most often installed in small rooms. The creation of this design takes place in several stages:

  • Choosing a location, taking measurements.
  • AT suitable angle put in a cardboard box. It is desirable that its parameters correspond to the parameters of the corner space - this will make it easier to make a fireplace.

  • In the front wall of the package, a slit is made in a semicircle so that it can be bent inward.
  • In the upper part of the cut off part, two arcs are made so that it takes the form of a triangle. The resulting part is fixed with adhesive tape or glue between the side and front sides of the fireplace.
  • The back wall of the box is cut off and the structure is “adjusted” to an angle.
  • The walls of the box are glued together with adhesive tape.
  • The resulting false fireplace from the boxes is pasted over with wallpaper or painted. The "hearth" pasted over with paper or film "under the brick" looks spectacular.
  • The fireplace worktop is made of plywood or thick cardboard glued in several layers. The shelf is covered with paint or pasted over "under the tree."

The mantelpiece can be made of lightweight building material- plywood, thick cardboard, etc.

You can decorate a corner decorative fireplace from boxes using any attributes - candles, garlands, figurines, etc.

Homemade fireplace from boxes for Christmas

To create a festive "hearth" you need three cardboard boxes- one large and two smaller. They are glued together - the large one is in the center, the small ones are at the edges.

New Year- a celebration of magic and wonder. It is eagerly awaited by both children and adults. It is on this holiday that there is an opportunity to get into a fairy tale at least a little, to hear nice words and wishes to spend time with family, friends and relatives. New Year requires thorough preparation - from gift wrapping to decoration holiday table. The main place in the pre-holiday fuss is home decoration. The presence of a fireplace in the house creates a special warmth and mood. According to tradition, New Year's gifts usually lie near it. Therefore, a beautifully decorated fireplace can be the highlight of your home this holiday.

Advice! If the boxes have different height, then they are cut and made the same size.

In the central box, the front wall is removed and a furnace hole is obtained. Visually, it is isolated using a foam border or plinth. To make a “brick-like” fireplace, small rectangular parts of the same size are cut from cardboard or foam plastic, glued to the surface of the boxes in a checkerboard pattern like brickwork. The fireplace is primed in several layers so that all the details become the same color. Next, the installation is painted with brown paint, and the curbs are yellow. To make the "bricks" more textured, they are dotted with gold paint with a sponge. The finished decorative fireplace is decorated with New Year's tinsel, toys and garlands. We advise you to study the material in more detail about that, and add the article to your bookmarks.

You can easily make a decorative fireplace from boxes with your own hands. Such a structure will make the room warmer and more comfortable.
