When installing a roof, it is permissible to combine any rolled bitumen and bitumen-polymer roofing materials. Since the materials of the upper layer are most susceptible to aging, a material with greater durability and a high polymer content is chosen for it.

It is not recommended to combine only rolled bitumen-polymer materials modified with APP and SBS modifiers. They have too different melt viscosities and melt formation temperatures. When fusing materials one on another, the mutual penetration of bitumen-polymer structures will not work. The most common mistake when choosing rolled roofing materials is the choice of materials with insufficient breaking characteristics of the base. In fact, this means that in such a roofing carpet all the advantages of a polyester base (high elongation to break) are reduced to nothing. But the polyester base is well impregnated with bituminous binder, and the breaking characteristics of fiberglass are more than enough. Therefore, such a combination is made in roofs made of materials and.

In bituminous (on oxidized bitumen with flexibility from 0 to -5 °C) polyester base does not work, since its deformation abilities are higher than the ability of bitumen to stretch at temperatures close to 0 °C. Therefore, rolled bituminous materials (EKP, EKP) must be combined with a material having a fiberglass base.

Combining the material with a polyester base with a material on a fiberglass leads to only a slight change in the appearance of the tear curve in the initial section. The material on the fiberglass does not affect the relative elongation and breaking characteristics of the roofing carpet. In this case, the behavior of the roofing mat depends on the strength of the polyester backing. On new roofs, only the high weight polyester used in can be combined with a fiberglass backing material. When laying roofing mats with materials produced on polyester, as a rule, a similar material with a polyester base is chosen on the bottom layer.

A very common mistake is the use of fiberglass-based roll roofing materials when installing a new roof. In the transverse direction, the force to break the fiberglass does not exceed 17-20 kg per 50 mm strip. For fiberglass, the tensile strength along the web is at least 80 kg per 50 mm strip, and the transverse tensile strength is at least 120 kg per 50 mm strip. Therefore, in order to compensate for the forces that occur during the cooling of the roofing mat and the opening of cracks in the screed, it is necessary to lay at least 5 layers of material with a fiberglass base or combine fiberglass with other bases.

Selection rules
(when installing a new roof)

When installing a new roof in 2 layers, it is unacceptable to use rolled materials only on the basis of fiberglass (HPP + HKP) or a combination of material with a thin polyester base (in Bipol and Bicroelast materials) with material on fiberglass.

Similar problems arise in roll bituminous materials(Bikrost and Linokrom), produced on a polyester basis. In the roof, they behave in exactly the same way as similar materials made on a fiberglass basis.

In order to avoid gaps in new roof when selecting rolled materials, it is enough to be guided by one of 4 rules:

Filizol is produced with a width of 950, 1000, 1050 mm, a length of 10,000 mm. Filizol is a biostable material. It is used for laying roofs in industrial and civil construction, repairing roofs of buildings for various purposes, as well as for waterproofing span structures of bridges and such engineering structures as ventilation shafts, pools and basements. Filizol is laid without the use of adhesive mastics, by melting its surface with the flame of air-gas burners. During reflow, concentrated heating of the surface of the web, which causes its ignition, is not allowed. By heating to a drop-liquid state, only the surface should be brought, preventing the entire thickness of the waterproofing layer from melting. Filizol is transported by all modes of transport. Filisol rolls are installed in vertical position in one row in height. Filizol rolls should be stored indoors, in a vertical position in one row in height at a distance of at least 1 m from heating appliances. Dnepromast(TU 5774-001-40234305-96) - rolled roofing bitumen-polymer material (Table 9). Distinctive feature dnepromast is the use of a polyethylene film instead of talc, which improves the safety of the material and facilitates its installation in the case. Fiberglass is used as a carrier base in Dnepromast. On both sides of the web of material applied polyethylene film thickness of 8 microns, which burns out when this material is glued under the influence of a flame gas burner. Dnepromast produces the following brands: "HP", "P", "EP", "K", "EK".

Dnepromast "HP" is used for the lower and intermediate layers of the roofing carpet. Fiberglass is used as a carrier base.
