Where is the heat regulator located on the battery? Thermostat for heating batteries: the principle of operation, which one to choose and how to install

With the replacement of old cast-iron radiators with modern heating appliances on communications, today at least shutoff valves are placed in front of them - ball valves, with which the batteries can be easily turned off. However, is it worth being limited to the installation of this valve, if for affordable price you can also purchase a thermostat to create comfortable temperature conditions in a dwelling. At the same time, the installation of a thermostat is simple and cheap, no different from installation ball valve to the heat transfer pipe.

How the thermostat works (video)

Rules for choosing thermostats

In the vast majority of cases, thermostats are screwed into the hole in the battery plug on the supply line. You should not refuse to install a ball valve immediately after the thermostat, since the first one, not being a shut-off valve, is often only partially able to block the coolant flow into the battery. On the contrary, the ball valve - in pure form shut-off valves, the use of which to regulate the flow hot water fraught with loss of tightness of the valve.

Before choosing a thermostat in a store, check which heating system is used in your home. There are the following types:

  • single-pipe, sequential heating system;
  • two-pipe, parallel heating system.

For each of the systems there are separate models of these devices, the difference of which lies in the value hydraulic resistance.

Temperature controllers for one-pipe and two-pipe heating systems

The fact is that spruce was chosen for the house one-pipe scheme, then this means that each battery is included in this circuit in series, and turning off at least one leads to the cessation of hot water circulation. When replacing old heating appliances with modern convectors, as well as in new houses, where it is possible to turn off these devices with ball valves, before fittings in without fail- a pipe connecting the inlet and outlet pipelines of the coolant.

Temperature control of the coolant flow in the riser

This is done so that when the battery is disconnected, the circulation of hot water does not stop, and your neighbors are not left with cold batteries. Accordingly, for such a system, a separate type of thermostats with a small hydraulic resistance is used. Otherwise, if you put control valves with a small internal diameter and, accordingly, high resistance on the supply line, almost all the coolant will go through the bypass, while the heaters will remain cold.

In two pipe systems heaters are installed in parallel, and disconnecting your battery will not affect the operation of the latter in any way. Bypasses past the batteries are not used here, therefore, for effective temperature control, it is necessary to use another type of thermostats with a higher hydraulic resistance.

Rules for the installation of thermostats

In fact, we figured out the installation site, now a few words should be said about the position in which the device is mounted. The rules are as follows:

  1. Any control fittings, be it a simple cone valve or a thermostat, must be installed, taking into account the direction of movement of the coolant flow. On each device you can find an arrow, the direction of which must coincide with the direction of the hot water flow and, accordingly, it can only be installed in this position.
  2. The position of the thermal head in space is also very important. It must be installed only horizontally, parallel to the floor. Otherwise, if you mount it in a vertical position, for example, like a conventional faucet or valve, the handwheel of which in most cases is directed upwards, then the flow warm air from the valve body and from the supply pipe will not allow the thermal head to accurately respond to changes in ambient temperature. The valve will always be under-opened and the room temperature will be lower than the set one.

Temperature controller installation sequence

For the same reason, you should not close the space where the thermostat is located, thick curtains or . If you cannot do without it, then be sure to purchase a device with a remote sensor that can be placed at a distance from the valve. In this case, the accuracy of room temperature control will be sufficiently high.

How to set up the thermostat

Setting the thermostat usually does not cause any difficulties for users. To do this, a number of simple steps are performed:

  1. Create conditions to ensure minimal ash losses in the room by tightly closing windows and doors;
  2. Turn the thermostat head to the left as far as it will go, thereby fully opening the valve;
  3. After increasing the temperature in the room by 5-6 degrees, close the valve by turning the head all the way to the right;
  4. After the temperature in the room drops and reaches the most comfortable value for you, start slowly opening the valve by turning the thermostat head to the left until the minimum flow of coolant flows through it.

The presence of a duct can be determined by the appearance of a characteristic noise and the beginning of a rapid warm-up of the valve body. After that, the setting of the heating battery temperature controller is considered complete.

In a word, installing a thermostat is quite cheap, simple and reliable way ensure a comfortable temperature regime in every room of an apartment, cottage, etc. Naturally, it should be installed in combination with thermal appliances with low thermal inertia - modern steel, aluminum and heating.

Any heating system is created on the basis of heat engineering calculations. The most unfavorable conditions under which the system will cope with its intended purpose are taken into account. But as the temperature rises thermal energy wasted and left unclaimed. To make living conditions more comfortable, and at the same time save on heating, you can make adjustments to heating system. For this, so-called thermostats for heating radiators are used.

Such devices are designed to adjust the air temperature in the room by changing the flow of coolant at the inlet to the heating radiator. They only allow you to adjust the temperature, but cannot increase the heat transfer of the heating battery. The thermostat is also not suitable for cast iron radiator, since cast iron has a large thermal inertia. In this case, the device will not be able to fully regulate the room temperature.

The temperature regulator on the heating radiator in houses with independent heating will help save up to 25% of energy resources and usually pays for itself in the first year of operation. In houses with centralized system heating thermostats rationally used in conjunction with heat meters, which leads to significant savings on utility bills.

If the electric heating battery with a thermostat is a single unit, then the device for a water heating radiator is installed separately.

Structurally, the thermostat consists of 2 elements:

  1. Valve. In a metal case are locking mechanism: stem, seat and cone (poppet, spool). The locking mechanism, lowering or rising, changes the pressure of the coolant.
  2. Thermal head, work manager valve. It consists of a bellows filled with gas or liquid, as well as a regulator. The working substance of the bellows reacts to temperature changes by changing its volume, which thereby affects the position of the regulator. The bellows is a very durable element that can withstand repeated compression and expansion cycles.

When the substance in the bellows is heated, it expands in volume. There is pressure on the piston, which shifts the locking mechanism. The cone of the mechanism partially or completely blocks the flow of the coolant. When the working substance in the bellows is cooled, the cone returns to its original place, again opening access to the coolant. This maintains a constant temperature in the room.

Benefits of using thermostats

The thermostat installed on the heating radiator has the following advantages:

  • It becomes possible to change the temperature in each individual room, making it the most comfortable;
  • Savings achieved Money by reducing the supply of coolant to the house;
  • The price for a thermostat for a heating radiator is not too high, so anyone can purchase several of these devices for their home;
  • The design of the devices is made in such a way as to successfully fit into any interior of the room;
  • The regulator is able to accurately maintain the set temperature. The error is about 1 degree;
  • Installation and operation of the device is not difficult.

Kinds

Type of thermostat

Household thermostats differ in their locking and regulating elements. They are of the following types:

1. Manual. It includes 2 types of devices:

2. Mechanical. On the body of the device there is a temperature scale, according to which you can set the desired temperature in the room. The device will automatically support it.

3. Electronic. This is a more complex and expensive device. Has a lot of settings. In addition to setting the temperature, such a device makes it possible to set the temperature change in the room according to the schedule (hours, days of the week).

Type of temperature agent in bellows

Depending on the substance in the bellows, thermal heads can be:

  1. liquid. Such devices are the most common, have a lower cost.
  2. Gas. They allow you to respond more quickly and accurately to changes in pressure inside the device. Quite expensive and popular devices are manufactured by Danfoss, which is famous for the quality of its equipment. Danfoss thermostats for heating radiators can serve more than 20 years without any complaints.

Number of pipes in the system

Each individual heating system may have a different number of pipes. Therefore, the thermal valve for each of these systems has its own design features:

  1. For single pipe systems. Such fittings have a wider cross section, since in single-pipe systems big values hydraulic resistance. Indicated by the letter "G"
  2. For two pipe systems. The device has a narrow body. It allows significant indicators of coolant pressure. Designated by the letters "D" and "N". Also, in some versions, the use of devices with the designation "G" is allowed.

Pipe connection method

Radiator thermostats have different design, which is selected depending on the location of the heating pipe approach:

  1. Straight valves. They are installed in cases where the pipe to the radiator comes from the side.
  2. Angle valves. It is better to put them at the bottom pipe supply.

The material of the thermostat

Temperature controllers for modern heating radiators are made of materials with increased resistance to corrosion:

  1. Brass. Some models have protective covering from nickel.
  2. Bronze. Often the metal is protected by chromium plating or nickel plating.
  3. Stainless steel. This is perhaps the best option but also the most expensive.

Temperature controller sensor type

1. built-in. It is installed on radiators to which there is free access and when it is possible to install the temperature controller on the radiator in the correct position (horizontally).

2. Remote. This type of sensor is mounted in the following cases:

  • the radiator is in a box, niche or curtained;
  • access to the temperature sensor is difficult;
  • the device is located at a distance of less than 10 cm from a wide window sill;
  • the thermal valve is mounted vertically on the radiator.

Features of choosing a thermostat

When choosing a thermostat for heating batteries, attention should be paid to the following aspects:

  1. The diameter of the valve must exactly match the diameter of the pipe.
  2. RTD-G instruments are used in single-pipe systems as well as in two-pipe systems apartment buildings and in private houses where circulation pumps are not installed.
  3. The RTD-N (-D) units are suitable for two-pipe systems in new buildings, as well as in private houses that have circulation pumps.
  4. The device must be certified, and its warranty period must be at least 3 years.
  5. Pay attention to the pipe that brings the coolant to the radiator. Depending on the direction of its approach, you need to choose a regulator - straight or angular.
  6. Consider the type of connecting nuts with which the device will be attached to the radiator. Nuts can be union or crimp.

Tip: Give preference when buying products from well-known manufacturers. For example, Danfoss, Caleffi, Far, Salus Controls, Oventrop have proven themselves well. Their products are durable and accurate.

Installation and configuration of the thermostat

If the thermostat is installed correctly on the heating radiator, the device will immediately start working correctly.

Before installation

Before starting the installation, pay attention to the following important points that will help you avoid elementary errors in installing the thermostat:

Note: It is advisable to install a ball valve in front of the thermal valve. It will allow you to change the valve or radiator if necessary, and also protect against excessive load thermostat to which it may be exposed when used as stop valves when replacing a radiator.

Installing a thermostat

Consider the sequence of actions when installing a thermal control device:

  1. The water from the heating system must be drained, and the water riser must be closed.
  2. Screw the valve to the radiator inlet, setting it in horizontal position.
  3. Connect the thermostat to the supply line.
  4. Open the coolant supply and fill the system with heated water.
  5. Check the tightness of all connections. Any leakage of the coolant must be excluded. If there are any, tighten the connections.
  6. If necessary, the valve is preset. To do this, the retaining ring is pulled, and then the mark is aligned with the desired division. After that, the ring is locked.
  7. A thermal head is installed on the valve. It can either snap on or be fixed with a union nut.

Setting the thermostat

Important: During the setup process, protect the room from drafts that confuse the sensor.

After the thermostat for the heating radiator has been installed, it must be adjusted so that the most comfortable temperature for people is created in the room. This is done for a mechanical device in the following order:

  1. Close all windows and doors, and turn off the air conditioning and ventilation system.
  2. There should be an ordinary thermometer in the room.
  3. Turning the thermal head all the way to the left, we completely open the coolant supply valve. This position corresponds to the maximum heat transfer of the radiator.
  4. After a few minutes, when the room warms up by 5-7 degrees, it is necessary to completely shut off the radiator. To do this, the valve is turned to the right until it stops.
  5. The temperature will start to drop gradually. Upon reaching the most comfortable conditions valve should be gradually opened.
  6. The valve opens until the noise of the coolant is clearly audible. This will be the position of the valve with the most comfortable temperature.
  7. The valve is left in this position.
  8. If there is a need to change the temperature, this can easily be done with the thermal head regulator.

Electronic thermostats do not need to be adjusted. It is enough to set the desired temperature in the room, and the device itself will adjust the pressure of the coolant.

The process of installing the valve in the heating system is quite simple. You can easily do all the work yourself. Moreover, the thermostat can be installed both on a new and on an already operated system.

Keeping the temperature in the room at the same level is very difficult. And this is especially true for city apartments with a centralized type of heating. Here, little depends on the residents. But the adjustment of heating radiators is still possible. To do this, there are special devices - thermostats. Consider what these devices are and how to install them.

Required this device in case the room temperature needs to be lowered. As a rule, this applies to the upper floors of city houses, where the heating system is equipped with top water supply and vertical wiring. Of course, the unit is used not only in high-rise buildings. Adjustment of heating radiators in a private house is also required quite often. By installing a thermostat on the heater, you can easily set the desired temperature. The error is very small and is only one degree.

It must be remembered that thermostats are not used to increase heat transfer. They can only lower it, but not make it higher. If the heating radiator does not heat, install other devices - electric heaters. Their principle of operation, in general, as well as the purpose, differs from temperature controllers. They are used quite often, both in the private sector and in city apartments. Their main purpose is to heat the liquid. Therefore, if it is cold at home, then it makes sense to install heating elements to increase the heating efficiency. You can mount them on all types of batteries, including cast iron ones.

Thus, electric heaters for heating with a thermostat are set when it is necessary to increase heat transfer, and thermostats - when to lower it. Thermostatic regulators can be used with any type of battery except cast iron. This is related to the fact that cast iron products thermal inertia is large enough. And the thermostats in this case will be simply useless.

What is the principle of operation of a thermostat?

Consider which temperature controller on the heating radiator has the principle of operation in more detail. The device is a sealed chamber called a bellows. It is filled with a special working environment. When the temperature rises, the coolant expands and the chamber straightens. Then stop valve blocks the path to the coolant in the battery section. As a result, the temperature in the room decreases. When the temperature drops, the effect is completely opposite: the thermal head shrinks, the valve opens, and water enters the radiator again.

The design of the temperature controller and its classification

According to the way the signal arrives at the thermostatic element, thermostats for heating radiators can be different. So the signal can come from the air inside or outside the room, from the coolant. Depending on the design features thermostat regulators for batteries can be direct-acting and with electric control. The first option is installed in front of the radiator. The thermostat receives a signal about a change in the temperature level from the coolant.

Regulators of the second type are divided into the following subspecies:

  1. those that can control either the heating of the boiler or the pump;
  2. those that can send a signal to the valves installed in front of the battery.

What are the advantages of installing thermostats?

By installing a heating temperature controller on a radiator, it will be possible to control the temperature level not throughout the room, but directly at the installation site. Thus, it becomes possible to create an optimal and more uniform temperature fund in the apartment. Also, adjusting the temperature of heating radiators eliminates the possibility of overheating of the air in the house, which is most typical for apartments located on the sunny side.

For each room, you can choose your own temperature control scheme.

For example, the room is practically not used. In this case, you can reduce the water consumption in the radiators to a minimum. Among other advantages, it can be noted that it is not difficult to buy a thermostat for a heating radiator. The units are sold in all specialized stores and have a very reasonable cost. In addition, installation is simple.

Features of mounting the thermostat

Before you install the device, you need to determine its location. The functioning of the thermostat depends on a number of factors. For example, the temperature regime outside the room, air circulation in the building. The presence of direct sunlight is also of no small importance. Extraneous sources of heat (cold) in the apartment are also taken into account.

If the house is private, then most often the temperature controller for the heating radiator is located on the top floor.

This is due to the fact that heated air accumulates at the top: the temperature difference at the lower and upper levels of the room will be significant. Mount the devices horizontally pipes near the point of entry into heating equipment. In city apartments, it is better to first install the thermostat where temperature fluctuations are most noticeable. These can be: a room exposed to direct sunlight, a kitchen.

Naturally, before installing the regulator, it must be purchased. You can either buy it in a store or order it online. For a thermostat for a heating radiator, the price depends on the type of connection and the manufacturer. On average, the cost of the device starts from 1000 rubles. I must say that the price range is quite wide. When the unit is purchased, and its location is selected, you can proceed with the installation.

The thermostat is installed on the heating radiator according to a certain algorithm:

As you can see, installing a regulator on a heating radiator is easy. But if, then when connecting a thermostatic device, it will be necessary to replace the heater connection diagram. To this end, to connect the direct and reverse connections of the structure, it is necessary to install a jumper - a bypass. This element allows the coolant to circulate if it is necessary to shut off the heating with a temperature controller.

To complete the circuit, you will need to remove the device. The valves must first be closed. If the system is two-pipe, then it is possible to control the flow of water into the radiator. But in this case, it is necessary to put the radiator thermostat on the upper connection.

Thus, we can conclude that today special electric heaters and thermostats are used to regulate the temperature in the room. The first ones are used if it is necessary to increase the heat transfer of heaters, and the second ones - to reduce the temperature and make the heating more uniform. Temperature controllers can be purchased at any store for a very reasonable price. Installing them is easy and it is quite possible to carry out the installation on your own.

Not so long ago, old-style heating systems assumed only cast iron batteries for heating the room, there was no talk of any temperature controllers. Now, to ensure comfortable use and safety, thermostats are installed for heating radiators. With their help, you can control the flow, temperature of water or other coolant. The system provides ease of use and allows you to save on the cost of heating your home, and in case of an emergency it will help you quickly disconnect the radiator from the riser.

Please note that in most cases, the thermostat on the battery is the only way to disconnect it from the system. The rule applies to all legacy installations, as well as some modern ones.

Types of thermostats for heating radiators

Depending on the principle of operation, thermostats are divided into mechanical and automatic. Another common classification is according to the sensitive medium that fills the bellows. So, devices are classified as liquid (conductor - water) and gas-filled (gas). Consider a detailed classification, where thermostats are divided into 4 main types, depending on the needs of the user and the features of the system.

The mechanical thermostat is the cheapest, and therefore the most common option.

Despite the fact that the configuration of thermostats remains the same for different types, the main differences are in the way of control. So, the mechanical model has a valve with division. To change the temperature, just turn the valve to the appropriate division.

Mechanics with electrical control

To set the temperature, such installations use a rotating wheel. When the required temperature is reached internal key thermostat closes and sends a signal to the main mechanism to open or close the valve.

Thermostat with electric actuator

The device has a servo drive - small electric motor replacing a mechanical valve on the body. Management is carried out using commands from electronic thermostat . Electronics is installed anywhere in the room to measure the actual temperature. Depending on the temperature, the servomotor rotates the axis and acts on the thermostat.

Electronic models in the heating system

Electronic thermostats are a more convenient analogue of a mechanical one.

Such a thermostat for heating batteries repeats the principle of operation of a mechanical one. The only difference is that the device has a simple display and push-button controls. Due to this, the price increases and, in comparison with analogues, the error in operation decreases. Such systems are considered the most progressive and allow you to set the temperature from a day to a week or more. The temperature can be set by the hour: the minimum when no one is at home, and the usual during hours of home activity.

Principle of operation and device

The design of the thermostat installed in heating systems.

The design of the thermostat is quite simple: a valve and a thermal head. The last element contains a cylinder with a corrugated wall - a siphon filled with a heat conductor. Usually it is gas or water. The stem connects the siphon and the valve that sets the flow. These elements do not require electricity to function, and an automatic connection is established between them.

The principle of operation of a thermostat for heating radiators assumes that gas or water (any coolant) changes its volume with fluctuations in ambient temperature.

The mechanical regulator is considered the most reliable and simple. As the temperature rises, the siphon expands, which allows the valve to close the heat to the battery. When lowered, the working medium becomes smaller and the siphon shrinks. The stem rises, allowing the valve to let heat into the battery. In this case, temperature changes are affected by drafts, sunlight, additional heat sources, and the temperature outside the window.

Advantages and disadvantages of thermostats

Definitely, the temperature sensor has more advantages:

  1. Ease of installation and management. mount mechanical device can be done without outside help and special skills, with a minimum of tools. The controls for mechanical and auto models are simple: the temperature is set by turning the wheel or pressing the button.
  2. Install the thermostat with gas meter and this will significantly reduce your utility costs. According to estimates for an average apartment, installing a thermostat and a meter can give up to 20% savings on energy consumption.
  3. Advanced models allow you to program the boiler for an hour, a day, or even a month. The temperature is set depending on the activity of the owners of the house.
  4. The system does not require operating costs.

But the device is not without its drawbacks:

  1. Complex elements require the intervention of a specialist and verified installation. And the cost of a high-quality autoprogrammer will be at least $ 300.
  2. Curtains can interfere with determining the correct temperature. When lowered, the sensor will have to take temperature data behind the curtain. In such a situation, it is necessary to put a mobile sensor in the room.
  3. The low accuracy of the set temperature with manual valves and the inconvenience of manual adjustment to each battery.
  4. After installation, mechanical models need to be tuned. If the element is installed incorrectly, temperature control is violated.

Installing a thermostat on a heating radiator

Mounting the temperature controller on the battery is not too difficult, but it is necessary to perform preparations and abide by certain rules.

What you need to know before installation

So, before you start mounting the thermostat, first read some rules:

  1. Do not mount the thermostat on cast iron models, as this alloy is inert. The best choice– aluminum or bimetal radiators.
  2. Install the temperature controller at least 0.8 m from the floor.
  3. Position the regulator so that it is convenient to adjust it.
  4. Do not mount automatic models behind radiator screens or draperies, otherwise the sensor will not work properly.
  5. If the device is installed in a private house, the thermostat must be mounted on a battery in the kitchen, living room or rooms on upper floors.

It should be noted that after heating season the device must be opened. This is done so that no sediment from the coolant forms on the valve.

Mounting process

Immediately before installation, be sure to close the supply riser and drain the water from the batteries. Only after that you can proceed to the installation. The latter is produced according to the following plan:

  1. First, cut off the pipe connections at a short distance from the battery.
  2. Disconnect the cut line and the tap (if any) from the heater.
  3. Using single pipe system heating, a jumper must be welded between the return and supply lines.
  4. From the temperature controller tap and shut-off valve, you need to dismantle the shanks and nuts, then wrap them in battery plugs.
  5. Assemble the piping and fasten to the desired (chosen) place.

Wiring diagrams

1. Supply line; 2. Battery; 3. Temperature adjustment sensor; 4. Bottom tap; 5. Air vent (automatic or manual); 6. Jumper; 7. Return line; 8. Plug.

In the case of a single pipe system, make the bypass diameter smaller than the diameter of the line piping.

AT two-pipe system thermostat can be installed on the top supply. This will make it easier to control the temperature.

Conclusion

Thermoregulators have shown themselves to be the most efficient devices in individual systems heating, also provide comfortable use and savings. Their use is advisable in rooms with the greatest temperature fluctuations.. Such an arrangement and regulation will give the optimal effect.

The thermostat for a heating radiator is suitable for rooms where there is a need to lower the temperature. Most of the time it's on the upper floors. apartment buildings, where there is an upper wiring. When mounting the control device on the radiator, the required temperature will be provided with a slight error. Before purchasing such a device, you need to learn more about its types, installation and configuration methods. We will talk about this in this review.

Such a device increases the efficiency of the heating system

The design of the heating regulator on the battery includes the following elements:

  • valve or faucet;
  • thermostatic mechanism.

A thermostat or thermal valve is a standard valve in a housing with a control mechanism. The cone is considered a locking element, which changes the amount when moving. The movement of the cone is facilitated by a thermal head, consisting of a cylinder with a thermal component. The cylinder is called a bellows, and a special liquid or gas is used as the thermal components. When heated, this component expands in volume and pulls the cylinder, which moves the conical part. The cone blocks the movement of the coolant flow and the composition cools down. In this case, the bellows becomes smaller. Then the cone rises, and the liquid moves into the battery and contributes to the heating of the thermal head of the equipment. This technique allows you to maintain the desired temperature.

Helpful information! When installing the device on a radiator, it should be borne in mind that the battery will not completely warm up. Some areas will be chilled. If you remove the thermal head, then the entire surface will gradually warm up.

Types of thermostatic elements

Thermal head for heating radiator important element designs. She happens manual type, as well as electronic or mechanical. Many manufacturers produce products that are applicable only with their own type of thermocouple.

Such devices differ in price. The cost of models of European manufacturers varies from 16 to 28 euros. Devices with a remote sensor have a price of 45-55 euros. They are mounted if it is not possible to monitor the temperature value on the battery.

The cost of individual models of thermostats for radiators, see the table.

The manual type thermostat is a control valve. By turning the knob, the amount of passing coolant changes.

Electronic thermal heads are expensive models. The product has a place for laying batteries. Are characterized large quantity opportunities. With their help, you can maintain a certain temperature value for a long period of time. Also, the devices are programmed by day or by day of the week.

Thermal heads differ in the type of thermal component. According to this principle, the mechanisms are divided into gas and liquid. gas model responds quickly to temperature changes. Liquid models are easier to manufacture, so they are offered in a wide variety. When choosing a thermostat for a heating radiator, the temperature range should be considered. The more given value, the higher the cost.

Thermostats for radiators: varieties

The valve represents the lower structural element. Regulating mechanisms are made for various systems. Products for two-pipe structures are characterized by significant resistance than single-pipe ones. There are thermal valves for heating such circuits. It is forbidden to use devices for a single-pipe design in a two-pipe design.

According to the installation method, control devices are angular or direct type. If the line is connected in the side part, then a direct valve is installed, and if from below, then a corner valve.

Also differ in design by type of materials. Metals that are resistant to corrosion are used. On some models a special coating is applied: chrome plating or nickel plating. Valves can be made of brass, bronze or stainless steel.

Installing a temperature controller on a heating radiator

The thermostat for the heating radiator is mounted at the inlet to the equipment. A special arrow indicates the direction of the coolant. If installed incorrectly, the design will not function. If the direction of flow is observed, the thermostat can be placed at the inlet and outlet.

Before installation, you should pay attention to the recommendations in the instructions for height and other parameters. Many structures are placed at a height of 50-60 cm from the floor. If a bottom connection is used, the installation height must be selected. In this case, a lower temperature value is set on the thermal head. Alternatively, you can set it up yourself. If a model with a remote sensor is installed, then the thermal head can be mounted at any height.

Experts recommend installing the thermostatic head in a horizontal position. If the device is directed upwards, then the substance in the cylinder will always be in a heated state and the room will be cold. When installing temperature sensors for heating in a single-pipe type system, do not forget about. It is also worth considering that thermal valves can be with compression or union nuts.

Helpful advice! To be able to repair the radiator without shutting down the system, it is recommended to install a bypass.

Design customization

For the design to function correctly, you need to configure.

A thermometer is installed in the room where it is necessary to control the temperature. Then you can start setting up:

  • coolant flow opens. In this case, the thermal head moves to the left;
  • the temperature indicator rises by 4-7 degrees;
  • the thermostat head turns to the right, thereby covering the flow of coolant. The room gets colder;
  • after reaching a suitable temperature, you need to slowly open the valve. The rotation stops after the liquid makes a noise. There are numbers on the cap that you need to focus on.

Adjusting the thermostat is a simple procedure that allows you to calibrate the design to specific requirements. Before installation and configuration, you need to read the instructions. Most often, you need to standard sequence actions. But for some models there are special recommendations.

Control devices can have three types of heads, but any product only works to lower the temperature value, but it cannot increase it.
