A standard in any natural green air fragrance kit, eucalyptus essential oil can also be used as an insecticide and repellant.

In a 2010 study, the essential oil of three eucalyptus species (E. staigeriana, E. citriodora, and E. globulus) was tested for protection against biting insects. The researchers found that eucalyptus globular essential oils were most effective against L. longipalpis and other natural products.

Lemon Eucalyptus (Eucalyptus citriodora)

As mentioned above, the lemon eucalyptus, E. citriodora, can also be used as a natural insecticide, especially for those who like to have the citrus smell of summer everywhere. The distillate or hydrosol of the essential oil of this tree has also been found to be very effective against mosquitoes and not as variable in quality of effect as the essential oils of other plants.

This oil repels mosquitoes so much that it can be a great repellant option for use around children and pets, as the hydrosol has so far provided a high degree of protection against a wide range of insects for several hours.

Incidentally, this eucalyptus oil is widely used as an insecticide in hot, humid countries where diseases such as malaria or the Zika virus thrive. There, this remedy is considered vital, since avoiding a mosquito bite can save a person's life. we are still more fortunate, since the list of diseases that “our” mosquitoes can infect tends to zero.

And one more effective recipe- natural insect repellant

  • Essential oil of lavender - 15 drops.
  • Lemon eucalyptus oil - 10 drops.
  • Tea tree oil - 10 drops.
  • Lime oil - 6 drops.
  • Bergamot oil - 6 drops.
  • Distilled water - 60 ml.
  • Apple bite - 60 ml.

You need to mix all the ingredients and fill them with an aerosol spray. Shake well before use. It must be remembered that bergamot and lime oils are photosensitive oils, so this aromatic blend is intended to be sprayed into the air around and is not intended for topical or internal use.

Of course, this is far from full list all herbal remedies. which can be used to repel mosquitoes. In one of our previous articles, we talked about options such as citronella oil, clove oil against mosquitoes, and also mentioned camphor, which is not suitable for everyone.
