Wallpaper on the ceiling: how to choose the perfect finishing material (23 photos). Wallpaper ceiling design, photo and implementation guide White ceiling wallpaper with a pattern

A beautifully designed ceiling is an essential element of interior design and ceiling wallpaper is one of the most popular surface finishing methods. To date, there are many types of ceiling finishes. The choice depends on material possibilities and organic entry into the design of the room. You can buy stylish chandeliers or lamps by ordering them through a Polish online store, or you can use the most affordable and popular type - wallpapering the ceiling. Due to modern technologies for the production of various types of wallpaper, the ceiling pasted over with ordinary wallpaper or wallpaper for painting will suit any style and design of the room.

Pasting the ceiling is a good solution, both for rooms with high ceilings, and with low ones. By combining different materials, you can divide the room into separate zones, which is especially important for one-room apartments. On the market, ceiling wallpapers are presented in four main types:

  • Non-woven;
  • Vinyl;
  • Glass fiber;
  • Liquid.
non-woven
Vinyl
Glass fiber

Non-woven - have a dense base, thanks to which it is convenient to use them for pasting surfaces, they are able to pass air, that is, they can "breathe". Due to its density, they hide minor flaws, cracks, bumps, are resistant to moisture, and can be used in rooms with high humidity.

Glass fiber will attract attention with its natural composition: quartz sand, clay, limestone. The structure consists of weaves of various thicknesses of glass fibers. Therefore, they can have a different pattern that will suit any design. Glass fiber is strong enough, due to its structure, they will keep the surface in perfect condition, will not allow the appearance of defects. This is a very profitable material that can last up to 30 years, while it will withstand up to 20 repaints for any room design.

Liquid wallpaper on the ceiling is more like a kind of decorative plaster. Ideal for surface decoration, where there are many corners, ledges, for rooms with low ceilings.

Positive aspects - they have a natural composition, have high adhesion to the surface, are able to accumulate heat, due to the natural composition they do not attract dust. If damage has occurred, then to recreate the original appearance of the surface, it is enough to replace only the damaged area. Minus - not suitable for rooms with high humidity. However, when treated with special preparations, they can withstand moisture. The design of the ceiling with liquid wallpaper is shown in the photo.

Liquid wallpaper

Vinyl

They consist of two layers: the upper one is polyvinyl chloride, the lower one is paper or interlining. If non-woven is the basis, then in their characteristics they are similar to non-woven ones. Due to the top layer, they tolerate moisture well. The permissible humidity limit is determined by the thickness of the PVC.

Available in several types:

  • Foamed vinyl without embossing. They have an interesting appearance, due to the convex texture they hide surface irregularities well, but they do not have a high density;
  • Made by hot stamping: the applied pattern looks like natural stones, textured plaster, heavy metals. They will hide surface irregularities, while due to their unusual appearance they will emphasize the stylish design of the room;
  • Flat vinyl, silkscreen - smooth, pleasant to the touch, suitable for perfectly flat surfaces;
  • Made by chemical embossing: durable, chemical and UV resistant.

Under the design of the room, you need to choose the right type of finishing material. The photo shows the main types of vinyl wallpaper.

Surface preparation for pasting

Before you start pasting, you need to figure out how to glue wallpaper on the ceiling. First you need to clean and dry the surface, evaluate the horizontalness and the presence of defects. Based on this, it will be seen whether it is necessary to putty or it will be enough just to prime the surface. It will also depend on the choice of wallpaper, their density and properties to mask damaged areas of the ceiling. Puttying the surface is desirable if there are strong defects, or a large angle of inclination.

Depending on the previous design of the ceiling, it must be cleaned:

  • If the surface has been whitewashed, it must be cleaned;
  • If it is painted with paint, then you need to check it for strength: glue the adhesive tape and rip off sharply. There is paint left on the tape - completely clean it off the surface;
  • If there are old wallpapers, then you need to check them for adhesion to the ceiling surface. With tight adhesion, new wallpapers can be glued on top of old ones, if this does not spoil the new color background.

Preparing for pasting

How to glue

When the surface is prepared, strips of the required length are cut. To do this, you need to measure the length of the ceiling and cut off the strip a little longer, by 2-3 cm, so that with a possible shrinkage from the glue, there are no gaps on the surface.

To control the evenness of gluing the strips, the surface must be marked. Make the markup according to the width of the strip, reducing it by 1-2 cm. Make this markup on both sides of the ceiling and pull the threads. Then it will be possible to control the evenness of gluing.

Glue before gluing the wallpaper on the ceiling, dilute according to the instructions. To make the joints invisible, the direction of the strips must coincide with the rays of light penetrating the window, that is, you need to start gluing from the window to the opposite side.

When the glue is ready, lubricate the finished strips with it and fold it with an accordion with the glued side inward to prevent the glue from drying out. Gluing starts from the central part of the ceiling. The strip is pressed against the wall, from the window and we move towards the opposite wall, gradually straightening the strip folded like an accordion. When the ceiling is ready, cut off the excess part of the strips with a sharp knife. You can paste over the surface with your own hands, while you need to have an assistant who will help hold the strip.

During operation, it is recommended to turn off the electricity and close the windows so that there is no draft. Avoid drafts until the surface is completely dry. A little effort and patience and a stylish ceiling that will complement the interior of the room will be ready.

Applying liquid wallpaper to the ceiling

Having figured out how to glue wallpaper on the ceiling, you need to figure out how to apply liquid wallpaper. The finished dry mixture of liquid wallpaper is diluted with water according to the instructions on the package, mixed. The consistency should resemble thick sour cream. Apply to the surface with a roller or plastic float. The application thickness depends on the microporous structure of the wallpaper, you should pay attention to the recommended application thickness on the package.

The application can be in one layer, 2-3 mm thick, or it can be applied 4-6 mm thick to achieve a volumetric effect. With the help of embossed rollers, you can create a unique textured surface finish.

The popular non-woven wallpaper for the ceiling is a special rolled non-woven fabric, which is made from 70% long textile cellulose fibers and 30% special additives. These ceiling wallpapers are air and vapor permeable, so the ceiling "breathes".

Such wallpaper for the ceiling is produced with a non-woven lining. The material during this treatment becomes more durable. These wallpapers are not deformed, i.e. do not "bubble" after gluing, and also successfully smooth out imperfections and irregularities of the original surface and perfectly reinforce microcracks.

Properties of non-woven wallpaper

  • The thickness of the wallpaper hides the imperfections of the ceiling and covers the cracks.
  • The canvas does not stretch when glued.
  • No need to smear glue on the wallpaper - it is applied only to the ceiling, thereby reducing the time of repair work.
  • The quality of work is improved due to a more precise fit of dry sheets to each other during gluing.
  • Non-woven wallpaper can be glued to any surface - all of their types are firmly attached to the ceiling of any material.
  • There is practically no alternative to them when pasting in new-build houses: cracks that form during the shrinkage of the building are not afraid of such wallpapers.
  • They are hygienic and non-toxic.
  • Do not fade when exposed to sunlight.
  • This is a good choice as wallpaper for painting.
  • For gluing, a special glue for non-woven wallpaper is used. An ordinary pack of glue is enough for pasting an area of 18 sq.m.
  • During subsequent repairs, you can easily and without soaking remove the top layer of wallpaper, and an even and durable non-woven base will remain.
  • The price depends on the place of purchase of wallpaper, their manufacturer, as well as on the texture, fashion, color.

Types of wallpaper

There are two main types of non-woven wallpaper.

On a non-woven basis

Distinguishing properties

  • This non-woven ceiling wallpaper has two layers.
  • The substrate is a canvas of compressed textile fibers (non-woven fabric).
  • The outer decorative layer is usually made of finely porous vinyl, which is given a certain texture and color.
  • Non-woven wallpaper has an absolutely smooth back side.

Fully non-woven wallpaper

Distinguishing properties

  • This is a structured wallpaper for the ceiling.
  • The relief is rolled - the wallpaper is rolled through special rollers.
  • On the wrong side of the canvas, the reverse side of the relief is visible.
  • They are very strong and durable.

Manufacturers also produce two types of non-woven wallpaper just for painting.: dyed and unpainted. Wallpaper is usually painted in light colors - green, yellow, blue, pink.

Note! After applying paint to painted wallpaper, its shade will change slightly. However, the latest non-woven ceiling wallpaper has the advantage of being able to withstand repeated repainting without losing strength or texture properties.

Such wallpapers can be:

  • plain;
  • with a very small, almost monochromatic pattern;
  • with an extruded small pattern;
  • with a geometric or floral large pattern;
  • multicolor.

Ceiling wallpaper with a pattern is usually used in living rooms, children's rooms, and bedrooms.

The use of non-woven wallpaper in the repair

  • Surface preparation.
  • Cutting panels.
  • And only the sticker itself is peculiar: glue is applied only to the ceiling.

Note! The color of the ceiling on which we will glue the wallpaper should be uniform, because the non-woven base is slightly transparent.

Non-woven wallpaper coloring technology

We will paint the glued interlining on the ceiling only after the glue has completely dried - in a day. At high humidity or temperatures below 15 degrees, this time increases slightly.

Coloring these wallpapers can be done up to 7 times (see)

To do this, use paints:

  • water emulsion;
  • latex;
  • acrylic.

Coloring process

  • We will cover the floor with plastic wrap or newspapers.
  • Paste with masking tape the borders of the area for applying paint.
  • Pour the paint into the paint tray and carefully roll the roller in the paint so that it is absorbed more evenly, but does not flow from the tool raised to the ceiling.
  • Paint hard-to-reach corners with a brush.
  • We paint the ceiling wallpaper on the reverse side with latex water-dispersion paint. Then, after drying, glue on the ceiling. Only the interlining for the ceiling will be dyed, and the structure will still be white.
  • We will paint the ceiling itself with bright paint, intended for subsequent wallpapering. After drying, glue the wallpaper for the ceiling: now the color is slightly translucent through the translucent non-woven wallpaper.
  • We will slightly process the relief part of the already pasted wallpaper with a hard (lint-free) rubber roller without pressure so that the paint does not get into the recesses.
  • By combining wallpapers of different colors, we can achieve an imitation of fashionable multi-level ceilings.

Unusual ways of painting non-woven wallpaper

Ceiling design with non-woven wallpaper

Along the perimeter, half a meter from the wall, we glue non-woven ceiling wallpapers of the same color, and the rest of the space in a different color.

  • The division of the ceiling is also popular when designating functional areas. For example, above the head of the bed from non-woven wallpaper with a pattern, and let the rest of the ceiling be plain.
  • The glossy lacquered base of the ceiling gently diffuses the light in dark rooms.

Currently, wallpaper is often used to decorate the ceiling and change its appearance. They hide minor irregularities, are environmentally friendly and easy to care for. In order for the coating to please with its appearance for a long time, you need to know how to glue wallpaper on the ceilings.

How to glue ceilings: step by step instructions

Preparing the ceiling surface for the gluing process is an important step in the repair of the ceiling.

First, free the room from furniture and appliances, remove lighting fixtures, protect the bare ends of the wires with electrical tape. To create a favorable microclimate for work, close the windows tightly, turn off the air conditioner in advance.

Prepare the ceiling as follows:

  • clean the whitewash with a spatula, wash off the residue with a solution of water and soap;
  • for small irregularities, level the surface with a thin layer of plaster; for significant differences, you will have to use drywall and a profile;
  • after leveling, the ceiling must be primed. This will improve adhesion, ensure reliable fastening of the wallpaper. Apply the primer with a roller or brush.

When leveling the ceiling, you need to know.

The canvases should be glued along the side walls of the room, perpendicular to the window openings. Otherwise, with sufficient natural light, all joints will be noticeable.

In order to mark the ceiling, measure from the wall a distance equal to the width of the roll. Do the same on the opposite side. Draw a straight line that will connect the two points.

When measuring each strip of wallpaper, leave a small allowance on both sides, and also follow the drawings, if any. The images must match.

Cut the roll into strips with a sharp knife in a straight line. Number all the canvases in order, carefully fold.

To hang wallpaper on the ceiling, first prepare the glue. To do this, carefully read the instructions. Usually, dry mixes are produced for wallpaper, which must be diluted with water. Please note that some types of glue need time to dissolve completely, other formulations can be used immediately. The consistency of the diluted glue should resemble thick sour cream without lumps.

After you have prepared everything, proceed to the gluing process:

  • take a roller, lower it into a container with an adhesive composition, coat the canvas with glue on the inside and along the edges. Wait 10-15 minutes for the paper to soak;
  • while the canvas is “resting”, apply glue to the ceiling - to the installation site of the first sheet;
  • unfold the sheet, attach it with one edge to the ceiling. Gently begin to press the canvas to the surface. Using a roller or rubber spatula, immediately smooth the coating from the center to the edges, thereby expelling excess air;
  • after sticking the canvas, carefully inspect it for bubbles. If there are, immediately remove them with a spatula;
  • each canvas must be glued quickly, otherwise the glue will have time to dry, and the material will not adhere well to the ceiling;
  • in the corners between the wall and the ceiling, press the wallpaper with a spatula, and cut off the excess parts of the canvas with a straight line;
  • with the following canvases, proceed by analogy, as with the first piece;
  • where the lamp will be located, make a cross-shaped incision, insert the wires through it, and press the canvas in this area firmly against the ceiling;
  • after pasting the entire ceiling surface, leave it to dry completely.

If you are faced with the task of sticking wallpaper on the ceiling yourself without outside help, it is better to choose non-woven coatings. First of all, because only the surface to which the canvas will be attached is smeared with glue. In addition, when drying, non-woven wallpaper will not disperse.

First, glue a part of the ceiling well for the first strip with glue. After that, gradually begin to apply the canvas to the ceiling, while working with a roller or rubber spatula.

When sticking paper wallpaper, you first need to coat the canvas and ceiling with glue. After that, leave the strip for a few minutes for impregnation. Then gently glue it to the ceiling, trying to prevent the coating from spreading, tearing it.

The benefits of pasting ceilings include:

  • low cost of materials and works;
  • small time costs for repairs, the ability to transform the ceiling surface in one day;
  • special wallpaper for painting can be painted several times, changing the color of the ceiling;
  • products are presented in a wide range.

Among the disadvantages of this method of finishing can be identified:

  • short service life of coatings (for paper - a maximum of 5 years, non-woven wallpaper can last up to 15 years);
  • paper webs attract dust and other contaminants.

What wallpaper is better to choose on the ceiling

Vinyl

Beautiful embossed patterns are applied to their surface, they have a wide range of colors. Minor imperfections and imperfections in the finish on the underlying base of the ceiling can be repaired with vinyl sheeting. Durable material is not afraid of wet cleaning, and its surface does not fade over time.

Finishing ceilings with vinyl wallpaper is a great option for those who are thinking about the question of how to glue wallpaper on the ceiling alone, since only the ceiling is smeared with glue.

The main disadvantage of vinyl is its low vapor permeability, so the pasted surfaces must be treated with special antiseptic compounds before starting work, which will prevent the appearance of mold and fungus.

On a note! On the modern market, you can find vinyl wallpapers, on the surface of which there are micropores that allow the material to breathe.

They are based on foamed vinyl, which is applied to a mixture of mineral fibers and cellulose (non-woven fabric) during the production process. Such coatings have a lot of advantages: they smooth out irregularities, they are perfectly fastened, they can be painted. They are glued in the same way as paper wallpapers, but it is recommended to take no more than 3-5 minutes for the impregnation of the canvas.

They are represented by a material with a more complex texture, since they contain soda, dolomite, lime and quartz sand. Such components make the coating environmentally friendly, resistant to the development of bacteria, fungus and mold on its surface. Glass particles suppress excessive surface static. In addition, cullets pass air well, are not afraid of moisture, alkaline and acidic environments.

For gluing such wallpaper on the ceiling, special compositions are used that are not applied to the material itself, but only to the surface of the ceiling.

On a note! Glass fiber can be painted with acrylic or water-based paints.

This is the most common and budget option used for decoration. Their other advantages include vapor permeability and environmental friendliness. It is allowed to use wet cleaning for modern paper wallpapers, and the decorative properties of the materials will satisfy the needs of the most fastidious consumers.

In general, paper wallpapers can be divided into three main types:

  • smooth, 100% paper. To prevent the pattern from fading for a long time, a layer of a special primer is applied to the outer surface of the canvas during manufacture;
  • structural produced using screen printing. The two-layer structure of the canvases increases the service life of the coatings, increases their resistance to UV rays;
  • photo wallpaper. Today they are no longer as popular as they used to be, but are sometimes used in decoration. Drawings on such wallpapers are collected from several types of canvases.

In appearance, they are more reminiscent of decorative plaster and have the following features:

  • elasticity;
  • reliable adhesion;
  • antistatic;
  • environmental friendliness;
  • vapor permeability;
  • good heat and sound insulation;
  • ease of installation.

The only drawback is that they are afraid of moisture, therefore they are unsuitable for use in the kitchen.

Important! For each type of wallpaper, different types of glue are used. Usually, the manufacturer indicates this moment on the packaging.

Glue is diluted strictly according to the instructions in the indicated proportions. To avoid lumps, add the mixture to the water little by little, while stirring the composition with a construction mixer. Leave the finished solution for 10-15 minutes to swell.

Experts advise to follow the following recommendations, determining the design:

  • the color should correspond to the main tones that are the main ones in the interior;
  • Using a combination of several shades, you can achieve an interesting effect. For example, zone a room;
  • wallpapers with a lacquered surface have a good ability to scatter light, so they are ideal for rooms where there is little natural light;
  • it is necessary to choose a drawing taking into account the functional purpose of the room.

To extend the life of the wallpaper, you can apply a layer of protective varnish on it. Most paintable wallpapers can be repainted several times, so using a varnish will save a lot of time and money.

If the wallpaper began to peel off, they must be glued in time. To do this, the falling off areas are re-coated with glue.

Deep relief wallpapers are sensitive to odors and dust. Therefore, they need to be regularly cleaned with a brush, vacuum cleaner or dry rags. Moisture-resistant wallpaper can be wiped with damp sponges.

Wallpaper on ceilings is a great alternative to other materials that are more expensive and more difficult to install. A wide variety of textures and shades will allow you to find options suitable for each room. By following the instructions and the stages of work, you can easily and quickly stick wallpaper on the ceiling with your own hands.

What wallpapers are

According to their technical characteristics, wallpapers are divided into:

  • ordinary;
  • resistant to moisture;
  • washable.

According to the material of manufacture for:

  • paper;
  • vinyl;
  • non-woven;
  • liquid;
  • cullet;
  • textile (fabric).

Briefly about each type

Paper. Such wallpapers are still the most popular and bought. This is due to the affordable price, ease of gluing and the fact that such material is completely harmless to humans, the ceiling pasted over with paper “breathes”. What are the types of paper wallpaper? This is:

  1. Simplex. One layer of paper, can be smooth and corrugated. Such wallpapers are very thin and not resistant to external influences.
  2. duplex. Two compressed layers of paper that can mask minor defects in walls and ceilings.
  3. Laminated. Two-layer wallpaper, the top layer of which has an embossed convex relief.
  4. Foam wallpaper. This is also a two-layer wallpaper for the ceiling, the third layer of which is a foamed acrylic polymer. They are resistant to abrasion and moisture and hide irregularities better.

Vinyl

Their base is made of paper or non-woven. The second layer is PVC. They are washable wallpaper. These wallpapers are very durable and are not cheap. They are produced without embossing and with hot embossing.

Vinyl-covered room

Embossed wallpapers are divided into:

  • silk-screen printing - soft, shiny, with relief. Stick to a flat surface.
  • heavy vinyl is a dense material that hides bumps.
  • chemical vinyl - resistant to repeated washing and UV rays.
  • compact vinyl - imitating natural materials or fabric.

Liquid

Sold in the form of a powder mixture and are a cross between wallpaper and decorative plaster. They are made from cotton and silk, plus binder chemical fillers. Apply the mixed consistency to the walls with a roller or plastic float.

The appearance of the ceiling and walls pasted over with liquid wallpaper

The type of wallpaper differs in its porous structure, that is, some have a thin layer, while others are thicker (4-5 mm).

non-woven

Non-woven wallpaper on the ceiling. The main layer is a web of compressed cellulose fibers. This is a very dense material, 70% consisting of natural ingredients.

An example of what a room covered with non-woven wallpaper might look like

Using a stencil, vinyl foam is applied to the interlining and a three-dimensional relief is created. Such wallpapers do not stretch and do not get wet.

Glass fiber

They are based on a fiberglass thread, which is made from soda, lime, dolomite and quartz sand.

In such a material, the vital activity of microorganisms is impossible, and it is also resistant to chemical influences. Such wallpapers are hard and heavy, able to hide significant cracks.

Textile (fabric)

The base layer consists of paper. It is laminated with fabric fibers. They are made almost seamless.

They look very expensive and spectacular, but they need to be glued only on a perfectly flat surface.

Wall mural

These are the same moisture-resistant or washable wallpapers with a large-format image applied. For photo wallpapers use a special roll material of large sizes. With the help of waterproof paints, any image is applied to it, the buyer himself can order what he wants to see on such wallpaper: pictures of nature, a photo of a child, fruit compositions for decorating a kitchen, etc.

Room with photo wallpapers on the ceiling

What wallpaper is suitable for the ceiling? It is better to give preference to drawings in light, pastel colors. It can be an image of a clear sky, flowering tree branches, for example, sakura, fluttering butterflies, designers will offer many interesting solutions. As a result of the peculiarities of the manufacture of such wallpapers, they have a chemical smell, so you need to ventilate the room while wallpapering the ceiling.

Surface preparation

If the wallpaper of a certain texture and color has already been selected, it remains to proceed to the process of gluing them. The durability of the finish depends on how well the base surface is prepared. In order for the wallpaper to hold well, the ceiling must be cleaned of plaster, old wallpaper or whitewash. We do this with a spatula and a dry cloth. If the glue from the old wallpaper is not removed, wash everything off with water.

If the irregularities are too large, a grinder with a cutting wheel will help. Ceiling cracks putty. After cleaning, the entire surface is well impregnated with a primer mixture. The primer is selected according to the type of wallpaper, this is specified in the store. Priming the surface may take a couple of days, as the mixture is applied in several layers, and each layer must dry completely. The fungus on the ceiling is also not needed, we eliminate it with a deep penetration antiseptic, covering the surface with it twice.

Now the ceiling is ready and you can go directly to the question of how to stick wallpaper on the ceiling.

Materials and tools

In order for the work to go quickly and smoothly, it is necessary to prepare all the necessary tools in advance. You will need:

  • knife-cutter;
  • construction roulette;
  • brush with a long bristle for applying glue;
  • roller of medium width;
  • scissors;
  • soapy thread for marking or chalk cord;
  • plumb;
  • ladder or table.

As for the materials, in addition to wallpaper, you need glue. It must be purchased in advance, as there are adhesives that must be soaked overnight before gluing the wallpaper to the ceiling. Choose glue specifically for the type of wallpaper.

Let's move on to the process.

Decorating the ceiling with wallpaper includes the following steps:

  1. The first stage is the marking of the prepared ceiling. It is made so that the wallpaper sheets are placed perpendicular to the wall. They begin to glue from the middle of the ceiling, the place where the chandelier hangs is sealed with masking tape. It is better to turn off the electricity at this time.
  2. The second stage is cutting strips of the desired size. It is always necessary to cut with a margin of 5-7 cm. The margin is useful when fitting the pattern and aligning the joints. The prepared strips save you time.
  3. Next, glue is applied to each lined strip on the ceiling with a brush. If the wallpaper is paper, then immediately apply it to the ceiling and evenly press it with a wide brush. In order for the glue to be evenly mixed and hold well, it is diluted half an hour before work. Pour the dry adhesive mixture into a small amount of water, while stirring the water with a stick until a funnel forms. The powder is poured into this funnel in a thin stream, stirred well and then the rest of the water is added.
  4. If it is, for example, non-woven wallpaper on the ceiling, then a layer of glue on the ceiling surface will not be enough. It is necessary to smear the inside of the wallpaper (we take three sheets at once) and fold them with an “accordion”, the smeared side inward. Such thick wallpapers do not immediately stick, they need to get wet thoroughly. Then we apply glue to the ceiling and apply the sheets. Sheets on the ceiling are placed in the direction of sunlight from the windows. Then the joints will not be so visible.
  5. How to glue wallpaper on the ceiling is easier, so it is in pairs: one glues on a dais, the other supplies the material. You need to do everything quickly so that the glue does not dry out, otherwise the wallpaper will fall off.
  6. Attention and caution is very important. The wallpaper is glued either strictly in the joint or overlapped, and then the excess strip is cut off with a cutter.
  7. In order for the seams of the wallpaper to better hold together, a masking tape is glued on the ceiling along the marked joint line.
  8. Gently run your hand along the glued sheet from the middle in different directions, pressing it, it sticks.
  9. Then the wallpaper should be pierced with a pin every 10-15 cm, so that air comes out and the material does not swell.
  10. You can even out the wallpaper and expel the air either with a wide brush or a plastic spatula.
  11. Next, level the plane with a small plastic roller.
  12. We also act with the next batch of sheets (if the wallpaper is thin, then glue them one at a time).
  13. The last step is trimming the edges. We press the sheet with a spatula at the junction of the ceiling with the wall and carefully cut off the irregularities with a cutter. To make it more beautiful, the edges of the wallpaper are hidden under the ceiling plinth.

Ceiling installation was successful. Now you can hang the chandelier and enjoy the beautiful renovation.

Conclusion

  • it is better to give preference to more dense and reliable products. This finish will last much longer and retain an attractive appearance for a long time;
  • if there are irregularities or other similar defects on the ceiling, then it is better to glue embossed canvases on it, which will easily hide many of the flaws in the base;
  • don't forget about color combinations. For example, if the room has a light floor and dark walls, then the ceiling can be pasted over with options for neutral or light colors. Of course, much in this case depends on the color of the furniture;
  • for rooms with low ceilings, it is not recommended to buy too dark canvases. Visually, they can create the illusion of a small room with a low and oppressive ceiling.

  • if you prefer bright and rich canvases, then it is better to glue them in the hall and living room of the corresponding style. In the bedroom (both for adults and for children), designers recommend gluing wallpapers in neutral, pastel and soothing colors. They will not cause irritation and interfere with fast falling asleep;
  • experts do not recommend buying too dense and heavy wallpaper for finishing the ceiling (everything should be in moderation). Such canvases are more durable, but over time they can peel off from the base under their own weight;
  • you should not buy wallpaper for the ceiling if the room has a high level of humidity. Under such conditions, no canvas will last too long;
  • contact for the purchase of ceiling wallpaper only from well-known manufacturers with a good reputation. Otherwise, there is a big risk of running into low-quality canvases, which can move away from the base after a short time and spoil the whole image of the interior.

For example, snow-white canvases with geometric dark brown ornaments will look amazing in a bright room with furniture painted in black and yellow. The ensemble will turn out to be contrasting, but not annoying.

A plain white ceiling will look great in a bedroom with gray non-woven fabrics decorated with silver prints on the walls. In such an interesting environment, it is worth placing a double bed with a high upholstered headboard (with furniture studs) and slightly careless gray-brown wooden bedside tables.

If you prefer original and bright ideas, you can turn to light ceiling wallpaper with contrasting red prints. Paste them in a room with white walls and an equally light-colored screed. In such an environment, red curtains, red and white chairs with dark wooden legs, dark wrought iron chandeliers and decorative scarlet bows will look great.

Spectacular murals depicting blue sky and white clouds can be pasted in a room with a multi-level rounded ceiling and peach-colored walls. Dilute delicate colors with brick or stonework on one of the walls, a glossy screed and a chic pendant chandelier with candles.

A chic light gray wallpaper with a large ash purple print will look stunning in a bedroom with white walls and dark brown floors. Place in this room a bed with a high wooden headboard and bedside tables attached to it, glass chairs on a metal frame, a tempered glass coffee table (between the chairs) and complete the interior with thick curtains of a dull burgundy shade.
