Handmade chipboard coffee table drawings. DIY coffee table made of chipboard

You can make a table from chipboard yourself. To do this you will need a hammer, tape measure, screws, screwdriver, pipe with a diameter of 30 mm, flanges, jokers, jigsaw, wheels and plates Chipboard thickness 16 mm, glue.

Preparatory work

To make a table from chipboard with your own hands, you will need to create drawings of each piece of furniture. Part parameters are indicated on the corresponding product diagram. Cut out patterns are applied to the material. Their outline is outlined with a pencil and scratched out with a nail (to prevent the material from chipping when sawing).

At the bottom of the table and tabletop patterns, the outline of the legs is printed. The data is transferred to the details. A center line is drawn. Mark 3 holes 12 mm deep. To do this, use an 8 mm drill. You can control this parameter with regular electrical tape. On legs with inside make markings for the holes that are necessary to support the shelves.

The ends are finished with a flexible U-shaped profile, the texture of which should match the appearance of the slabs. Experts recommend making a table from chipboard with your own hands using an overlay profile that will wrap around each part on both sides. This does not require a groove for fastening.

Each end is treated with sandpaper. Then the profile is glued to the legs. The last elements are connected to the shelf using a dowel. The profile is placed on the shelf and cut off on the other side. If the glue has dried, its excess is removed.

Step by step instructions

A tabletop and bottom shelf (size 100x50 cm) are cut out of chipboard. The flanges are screwed to the 1st part. An indent of 6-7 cm is made from the smaller side. A parallel line is drawn along the surface. Similar actions are repeated on both sides of the tabletop and shelf. This technique allows you to obtain 4 intersection points into which the flanges are screwed. Then rubber wheels are installed. The next step involves inserting the pipe into the flanges. They are secured with bolts.

To give the furniture stability, adjacent supports are connected to each other by a pipe and a joker. To make the table look attractive, designers recommend installing a shelf. In this case, standard pipes are replaced with special analogues with appropriate fastenings for the shelf. Then the glass is cut out the right size, inserted into the mounts.

The varnish coating prevents the destruction of the structure, protecting it from moisture.

To apply the substance to furniture you will need sandpaper and wash. If the slabs from which the table was made were previously painted, then the material is cleaned of varnish/paint. To do this, experts recommend using mechanical, thermal or chemically. In the latter case, a special substance is applied to the treated coating with a rag. After 10 minutes, the table is wiped with the last material.

Thermal removal technique old paint or varnish involves the use construction hair dryer. The coating is heated, the paint is removed with a rag. Mechanical method This is done using a grinding machine (low speed) and sandpaper.

Finishing work

The paint and varnish material is applied to the table with a roller or brush. Before using clear varnish, you will need to cover the furniture with several layers of primer or stain. To reduce the consumption of the substance and eliminate minor irregularities, experts advise priming the table.

For this purpose, a composition based on water is used. The surface dries for 12 hours. Then the furniture is varnished and left for 24 hours to dry completely. After the specified time, the product is re-treated with paint and varnish material. coffee table can be decorated various methods. Designers recommend that owners of houses and apartments use mosaics. To do this you will need sandpaper, paint, a spatula, and a brush.

A coffee table is undoubtedly a useful and convenient thing. The furniture market today is full of offers of such tables made of chipboard, metal, glass and plastic. However, very often the consumer is looking for something special and exclusive, refusing standard options.

LCD tables have enough high prices, but, unlike other furniture, they are quite easy to make yourself.

For such consumers there is also a solution: making a coffee table with your own hands. This is not only an entertaining and interesting process, but also savings, because it is collected from Chipboard furniture In any case, it will cost much less than a store-bought product.

Preparatory work

Before you begin the process of making a table, you need to decide on its type. After this, you should make drawings of each element and cut out patterns. The diagram below shows the relevant parameters. The following set of tools will help you create a coffee table:

Diagram 1. Dimensions of a coffee table.

  • pencil and ruler;
  • roulette;
  • screws;
  • hammer;
  • screwdriver;
  • Chipboard, you can use laminated boards 16 mm thick;
  • hacksaw or jigsaw;
  • drill;
  • furniture pipe with a diameter of 30 mm;
  • flanges for pipes;
  • insulating tape;
  • sandpaper;
  • wash;
  • overhead profile;
  • glue;
  • rubber wheels.

It is necessary to put patterns on the chipboard, trace along the contour with a pencil and scratch with a nail so that the canvas does not split later. At the bottom of the tabletop pattern, the outline of the legs is cut out, which need to be transferred to the parts. Drawing a center line, mark 3 holes 1.2 cm deep and cut them out with a drill (8 mm). To control this procedure, it is recommended to use electrical tape. On the outside of the canvas it is also necessary to mark the locations of the holes that will be required to support the shelves. To do this, measure 8 mm from the plane of the parts and the same distance from the beginning of the bend. The figure will clearly show how this should be done.

The ends are finished with a U-shaped profile, the texture of which should match the slab. To work with chipboard, it is recommended to use an overlay profile that can cover each part on both sides without fastening grooves. The profile also needs to be glued to the legs. After this, each end must be sanded. The last parts are connected using a dowel to the shelf, onto which the profile is then placed and cut on the other side.

Table assembly instructions

Scheme 2. Assembling a coffee table.

The tabletop and bottom shelf are cut out of chipboard sheets, after which the flanges are screwed to the first part. You should step back 7 cm from the smaller side and draw parallel line. You need to do the same on both sides of the tabletop and shelf. This will allow you to get 4 intersection points to which you need to screw the flanges. After this, you should install rubber wheels and insert the pipes into the prepared places, securing them with bolts. Diagram 2 shows in detail the purpose of each structural element.

To make the coffee table stable, you need to connect adjacent supports to each other using a pipe and a joker. To give an attractive appearance a shelf is installed.

For such purposes, standard pipes are replaced with special parts, where appropriate fastenings are provided. After this, you should cut the glass to the required size and insert it into the mount.

The final stage is to apply a finishing substance to the structure, but first it is necessary to remove the “old” coating with sandpaper and remover. If the boards have been painted, the varnish or paint must be removed mechanically, thermally or chemically.

Table decoration and decoration

There are very different ways to decorate a tabletop. Most simple decoration A table is considered to be decorated with wallpaper, a border or a print of any image. The chosen method involves selecting decor and adjusting it to the size of the tabletop.

The surface of the table is carefully coated with varnish in one layer, and the decor is applied to the still wet tabletop. It is recommended to dry each layer of varnish for at least 24 hours, and the number of such layers depends on the wishes of the artist. However, the more layers of varnish are applied, the more spectacular the resulting picture will be.

The design on chipboard sheets can look quite original if you do not paint the tabletop in the first place. For finishing, it is recommended to clean the surface in advance with sandpaper, first coarse and then fine, so that as a result the paint and primer have good adhesion. If primer is used for finishing, it is better to use artistic or acrylic primer, while the latter can also be used for painting. The finished drawing is varnished in 3 layers.

Even a novice craftsman can make a table from scrap materials. But before assembling a coffee table with your own hands, it is better to review the drawings and diagrams in advance. This will allow you to decide on the shape of future furniture and cut off too complex options.

DIY drawings and diagrams of coffee tables

It is comfortable, lightweight and versatile. To make the frame rigid, the underframe is assembled from legs and a drawer - a rectangle that connects the legs and supports the tabletop. Otherwise, the legs will move apart and the table will lose its stability.

At the same time, the complexity of assembly does not increase much, but now you can store books, notebooks or other trinkets in the coffee table.

A special feature of this design is the absence of legs - they are replaced by four sidewalls, to which a ready-made folding mechanism is attached from the inside. A wide board, the underframe, is fixed to it on a short pair of supports, and a double table top is attached to the high supports, which, when unfolded, rests on the underframe.

Magazine table made of PVC pipes

The simplest and most economical, but very original version coffee table - make it from plastic pipes. The shape and height depend only on your wild imagination. This could be a small round table that performs the function bedside table or full-fledged coffee table with glass top.

To create it you will need:

  • pipes of two diameters - thicker for the legs and narrower for the base, for example, 16 and 9 mm;
  • glue gun or tube of transparent superglue;
  • medium grit sandpaper;
  • a hacksaw for cutting plastic pipes (can be replaced with a wood saw);
  • acrylic paint to hide the printed markings on the pipes.

The process itself is incredibly simple:

  1. Cylinders are cut to the selected length. 4 legs are made from a thick pipe - their length will be equal to the height of the future table (40-50 cm). 30 short cylinders are cut from a narrow pipe, on average 10-15 cm (depending on the shape of the table, the number can be changed).
  2. You need to start assembling the base from the center - this way there will definitely not be large gaps between the cylinders. Glue is applied to the entire surface of the contacting pipes. A little trick - to accurately glue the cylinders, liquid superglue is poured from the end of the pipes so that it flows down along the entire length of the joint. With a glue gun, the joints are simply processed from the outside - after painting they will become invisible.
  3. When the desired shape is achieved, the legs are glued - you need to make sure that the diagonal distance between them is equal. Otherwise, the table will fall over on one side.
  4. The final stage is painting. The easiest way to do this is with an aerosol method, although you can also use a simple paint brush.

When placed on your table glass table top, you should choose tempered glass with a thickness of 10 mm. To prevent the removable tabletop from sliding on the base, use silicone shock absorbers for furniture.

If a permanent tabletop is planned, it is fixed with transparent silicone glue.

DIY wooden coffee table assembly

For fans classic style there's nothing better wooden table. For this you will need to stock up:

  • planed timber 40x40 mm - for legs;
  • planed board 50x20 mm - for the drawer;
  • ready-made countertop furniture board 800x400 mm (but MDF or plywood will also work);
  • use wood putty to fill the holes from the screws;
  • use sandpaper or a sanding attachment on a drill to process the wood;
  • varnish or paint - for finishing the table.

The tools you will need are a screwdriver (or screwdriver), a wood saw and a drill. After cutting the block into legs, and the boards into the frame, the assembly of the table itself begins:

  1. The underframe is assembled first. For convenience and ease of assembly, everything is done upside down. The sides are attached to the legs obliquely with self-tapping screws through pre- drilled holes. But it is also possible metal corners, if aesthetics are not so important.

Wooden tables are made not only from planed wood. If you have minimal woodworking skills, you can create original furniture even from firewood. For example, by selecting a wooden block of suitable height and a couple of Y-shaped thick branches, working a little with a sanding attachment and covering everything with varnish, you will get an excellent massive coffee table for the garden.

And if after building a house there are several euro pallets left, there is no need to rush to dispose of them. This is an almost finished table!

It is enough to sand and stain the surface, place them one on top of the other and securely connect them together. And to make the table mobile, 4 wheels are screwed onto the bottom, 2 of which have brakes.

Decorating a coffee table with epoxy resin

If there is a sawmill nearby and you can get a sawn board there for next to nothing a large number defects - just wonderful! It is from these materials that the most beautiful tables decorated with epoxy resin are made.

The process is labor-intensive, but not too complicated:

  1. The cut board is glued with wood glue into the tabletop. Smooth boards must be placed under the clamps for uniform fixation.
  2. After the glue has completely dried, the tabletop is sanded, all cracks and holes from knots are cleaned. Before application epoxy resin the surface must be cleaned of dust and small chips.
  3. To make the table glow effectively, use luminescent paint in powder. For 2 l ready solution resin you need about 100 g of paint. The resin and hardener are mixed 1:1, the dose should be measured accurately and so that the hand does not tremble. If you overdo it with the hardener, the resin will crack, while too little hardener will prolong the hardening period.

This tabletop is suitable for both a coffee table in the living room of a cottage and in the bedroom of a city apartment.

If you have a few meters of wooden blocks left at home, you can even make a table out of them! The video shows in detail and clearly how to make an unusual designer furniture from construction remains:

It will be useful in the living room, bedroom, and children's room.

And it is quite simple to make - a beginner can make a coffee table with his own hands from chipboard home handyman, a teenager who wants to learn carpentry or give a gift to his mother, and even an ordinary housewife.

The most simple design A coffee table consists of a tabletop and four legs.

Unfortunately, making four legs out of chipboard is a bad idea.

They get out of this situation by using paired wide racks instead of legs, a rack on one side and a vertical wall on the other, and use other solutions.

The most informative source where you can see the designs of a hand-made coffee table is photos from the Internet and ready-made master classes on making.

There are many manufacturing options - with rounded corners, with drawers on the side, with stands made of polished metal pipe, etc.

To make a coffee table you will need:

  • Wood hacksaw
  • Square, ruler, carpenter's pencil and other marking tool
  • A drill and at least two drills - a large one for dowels, corresponding to their diameter, and a small one, with a diameter of 1-2 mm, for drilling holes for screws and for drilling with a large drill
  • Screwdriver
  • Hammer and mallet
  • Edge tape, special glue if it is not self-adhesive, roller and iron for attaching it
  • Milling cutter for high-quality processing ends for tape and carbide wood cutter
  • Modeling knife for trimming protruding edges of laminated layers or veneers and edge strips
  • Rasp for adjustment
  • Carpentry workbench, clamps and other accessories

You may need another tool, it all depends on what the master wants to get in the end. If you have a router, then with its help you can not only process the ends to a clean size, but also cut the material, however, this will result in more waste.

As a drill, you can use a hand brace, a hand drill, an electric drill and a screwdriver with a sufficient rotation speed to work with a small drill.

Manufacturing technology

The first thing you need to have on hand before making a coffee table with your own hands from chipboard is drawings.

They are usually performed after the design has been chosen.

They draw how the table will look from all sides with all dimensions, then they think through the carpentry joints and draw each detail separately.

After all the plans are completed, work begins. First, all the parts are cut out according to the drawings, then their connections are made.

Check the strength and quality of the connections using a square, visually for the presence of gaps and backlashes. The table must be assembled with high quality. If necessary, parts can be adjusted using a rasp, but it is better to do this using a milling cutter.

Paired parts, such as legs, can be processed together so that they turn out identical.

Typically, the exposed edges are then treated clean and the edge tape is attached. The tape is most often self-adhesive. It has a front layer of plastic and a back layer, which is smeared with glue and covered with tear-off paper tape.

The tape is glued and rolled with a roller - the fastening, with the proper quality of the surface, is quite strong and durable.

Make sure that the tape runs straight, without distortions.

When it is glued, its excess is very carefully cut off with a knife.

It is best to use a tape that exactly matches the thickness of the chipboard; in this case, there is no need for careful cutting, but you need to be more precise when attaching the tape to the product.

For PVC film, an iron is used, onto which a fluoroplastic gasket is attached. The film with the adhesive layer is heated with an iron and it should stick well.

In addition, the iron ensures high-quality passage of corners and other places where it will be bent, and it can also be used to slightly melt the film at the junction of the tapes in order to disguise the junction. At the end, when the table is ready, wheels or small legs are screwed to the bottom board.

The advantage of such a table is that you can choose its color, shape and size according to your taste, and you can also make it as suitable as possible for the interior of your room. Find particle boards for the table easily in almost any hardware store. To make a table from chipboard, you need to divide it into its component parts and make a pattern for each of them. Having received the patterns, they are applied to the material for the future product. The model is outlined with a pencil, and a nail is re-drawn along its mark (to prevent damage to the chipboard when sawing). We cut out the table top and the bottom shelf (size – 100 × 50 cm).

Assembly steps

Screw the flanges to the 1st part. From the smallest side, make a gap of 6-7 cm. Draw a parallel line along the plane. Similar actions are repeated on both sides of the table top with a shelf. This method allows you to get 4 intersection points into which the flanges are screwed. Then install the wheels.

The next step involves inserting the pipe into the flanges. They are fastened with bolts. To give the furniture durability, the surrounding supports are connected with a pipe and a joker. To make the table more attractive, you can add a shelf to it.

In this case, ordinary pipes are replaced with special analogues with fasteners. Then cut the glass to the appropriate dimensions and insert it into the fastener.

To protect the product from moisture, use varnish coating. To treat furniture with it, use sandpaper and a special remover. If the plates from which the table was made were previously painted, they must be cleaned of varnish/paint. For this, experts recommend using mechanical, thermal or chemical method. In the latter case, the reagent is applied to the coating with a rag. After 10 minutes, it is removed from the surface along with the loose coating. Thermal method Removing old paint or varnish involves using a hair dryer. The coating heats up and the paint is removed with a rag. Mechanical method performed using grinding machine(at low speed) and sandpaper.

Product finishing

For application paint and varnish materials use a roller or brush. In the case of using colorless varnish, the product must be treated with a primer or stain in several layers.

To reduce material consumption and hide surface roughness, experts advise priming the table. To do this, use a composition based on water based. After 12 hours the surface will dry. Next, the table is varnished and left for a day to dry completely. After a day, reapply the varnish.

Coffee table can be decorated in various ways. wonderful design solution there will be a mosaic. To install it, you need sandpaper, a brush, a spatula, and paint. First, the object to be decorated is coated with paint. Cover the areas you plan to decorate with glue. Next, the mosaic slabs are laid and pressed. After drying, treat the seams between the tiles. This is done with a special grout. Places where finishing has not been done must be covered. After completely decorating the tabletop, the product is ready for use.
