How to make a table from chipboard. Do-it-yourself chipboard coffee table (photo)

Even a novice master can make a table from improvised materials. But before assembling a coffee table with your own hands, it is better to view the drawings and diagrams in advance. This will allow you to decide on the shape of future furniture and cut off too complex options.

Do-it-yourself drawings and diagrams of coffee tables

It is comfortable, lightweight and versatile. For the rigidity of the frame, the underframe is assembled from legs and a drawer - a rectangle connecting the legs and supporting the tabletop. Otherwise, the legs will move apart and the table will lose its stability.

At the same time, the complexity of the assembly does not increase much, but now you can store books, notebooks or other trinkets in the coffee table.

A feature of this design is the absence of legs - they are replaced by four sidewalls, to which a ready-made folding mechanism is attached from the inside. To it, on a short pair of supports, a wide board is fixed - the underframe, and a double tabletop is attached to the high supports, which, in the unfolded version, rests on the underframe.

PVC pipe magazine table

The simplest and most economical, but very original version of a coffee table is to make it from plastic pipes. The shape and height depend only on the wild imagination. It can be a small round table that functions as a bedside table or a full-fledged coffee table with a glass top.

To create it you will need:

  • pipes of two diameters - thicker for the legs and narrower for the underframe, for example, 16 and 9 mm;
  • glue gun or a tube of transparent superglue;
  • medium grit sandpaper;
  • hacksaw for cutting plastic pipes (can be replaced with a saw for wood);
  • acrylic paint to hide the printed markings on the pipes.

The process itself is simple to disgrace:

  1. Cylinders of the selected length are cut. 4 legs are made from a thick pipe - their length will be equal to the height of the future table (40-50 cm). 30 short cylinders are cut from a narrow pipe, on average 10-15 cm (depending on the shape of the table, the number can be changed).
  2. You need to start assembling the base from the center - so there will definitely not be large gaps between the cylinders. Glue is applied to the entire surface of the adjacent pipes. A little trick - to accurately glue the cylinders, liquid superglue is poured from the end of the pipes so that it stacks down the entire length of the joint. With a glue gun, the joints are simply processed from the outside - after painting they will become invisible.
  3. When the desired shape is reached, the legs are glued - you need to make sure that the diagonal distance between them is equal. Otherwise, the table will fall on one side.
  4. The final step is painting. The easiest way to do this is with an aerosol method, although you can also use a simple paint brush.

When laying a glass top on your table, you should choose tempered glass with a thickness of 10 mm. To prevent the removable tabletop from sliding on the base, use silicone shock absorbers for furniture.

If a non-removable countertop is planned, it is fixed with transparent silicone glue.

Assembling a wooden coffee table with your own hands

For admirers of the classic style, there is nothing better than a wooden table. For him, you need to stock up:

  • planed bar 40x40 mm - for legs;
  • planed board 50x20 mm - for the side;
  • a finished worktop made of furniture board 800x400 mm (but MDF or plywood is also suitable);
  • putty for wood - overwrite holes from self-tapping screws;
  • sandpaper or a grinding nozzle on a drill - process wood;
  • varnish or paint - for finishing the table.

Of the tools you will need a screwdriver (or screwdriver), a saw for wood and a drill. After cutting the bar into legs, and the boards into the drawer side, the assembly of the table itself begins:

  1. The underframe is assembled first. For convenience and ease of assembly, everything is done upside down. Sidewalls to the legs are attached obliquely with self-tapping screws through pre-drilled holes. But you can also use metal corners if aesthetics are not so important.

Wooden tables are not only made from planed wood. With minimal woodworking skills, you can create original furniture even from firewood. For example, choosing a wooden block of suitable height and a pair of Y-shaped thick branches, working a little with a grinding nozzle and varnishing everything, you get an excellent massive coffee table for a summer residence.

And if after the construction of the house there are several euro pallets left, there is no need to rush to dispose of them. It's almost a finished table!

It is enough to grind and stain the surface, put them one on top of the other and securely connect them together. And to make the table mobile, 4 wheels are screwed from below, 2 of which are with brakes.

Decorating a coffee table with epoxy resin

If there is a sawmill nearby and there you can get a sawn board with a lot of defects for a pittance - just great! It is from such materials that the most beautiful tables decorated with epoxy resin are obtained.

The process is time consuming but not overly complicated:

  1. The cut board is glued with wood glue into the countertop. Flat boards must be placed under the clamps - for uniform fixation.
  2. After the glue has completely dried, the tabletop is polished, all cracks and holes from knots are cleaned. Before applying epoxy, the surface must be cleaned of dust and small chips.
  3. To make the table glow effectively, use luminescent paint in powder. About 100 g of paint is needed for 2 liters of the finished resin solution. Resin and hardener are mixed 1:1, the dose should be measured accurately and so that the hand does not flinch. Too much hardener will cause the resin to crack, while a lack of hardener will delay the curing period.

Such a tabletop is suitable for a coffee table in the living room of a cottage, and in the bedroom of a city apartment.

If there are several meters of wooden bars left at home, you can even make a table out of them! The video shows in detail and clearly how to make unusual designer furniture from building debris:

A coffee table is undoubtedly a useful and convenient thing. The furniture market today is full of offers of such tables made of chipboard, metal, glass and plastic. However, very often the consumer is looking for something special and exclusive, abandoning the standard options.

LCD tables have quite high prices, but, unlike other furniture, they are quite simple to make yourself.

For such consumers, there is also a solution: to make . This is not only an entertaining and interesting process, but also savings, because furniture assembled from chipboard will in any case be much cheaper than a store product.

Preparatory work

Before proceeding with the process of making a table, you need to decide on its type. After that, you should make drawings of each element and cut out patterns. The diagram below shows the relevant parameters. The following set of tools will help you create a coffee table:

Scheme 1. Dimensions of a coffee table.

  • pencil and ruler;
  • roulette;
  • screws;
  • hammer;
  • screwdriver;
  • Chipboard, laminated boards 16 mm thick can be used;
  • hacksaw or jigsaw;
  • drill;
  • furniture pipe with a diameter of 30 mm;
  • pipe flanges;
  • insulating tape;
  • sandpaper;
  • flush;
  • overlay profile;
  • glue;
  • rubber wheels.

Patterns must be applied to the chipboard, circled with a pencil along the contour and scratched out with a nail so that the canvas does not split later. At the bottom of the tabletop pattern, the contour of the legs is cut out, which must be transferred to the details. Drawing the center line, mark 3 holes with a depth of 1.2 cm, and cut them out with a drill (8 mm). To control this procedure, it is recommended to use electrical tape. On the outside of the canvas, it is also necessary to mark the locations of the holes that will be required to support the shelves. To do this, measure 8 mm from the plane of the parts and the same distance from the beginning of the bend. The figure will show clearly how to do this.

The ends are finished with a U-shaped profile, the texture of which must correspond to the plate. To work with chipboard, it is recommended to use an overlay profile that can cover each part on both sides without fastening grooves. The profile also needs to be glued to the legs. After that, each end must be processed with sandpaper. The last parts are connected with a dowel to a shelf, on which a profile is then put on and cut off on the other side.

Table Assembly Instructions

Scheme 2. Assembling a coffee table.

A table top and a lower shelf are cut out of chipboard sheets, after which flanges are screwed to the first part. You should step back from the smaller side of 7 cm and draw a parallel line. In the same way, you need to do from 2 sides of the countertops and shelves. This will give you 4 intersection points to which you need to screw the flanges. After that, put the rubber wheels and insert the pipes into the prepared places, securing them with bolts. Diagram 2 shows in detail the purpose of each structural element.

To make the coffee table stable, you need to connect adjacent supports to each other using a pipe and a joker. To give an attractive appearance, a shelf is installed.

For such purposes, regular pipes are replaced with special parts, where appropriate fasteners are provided. After that, cut the glass to the desired size and insert it into the mount.

The final stage is the application of a finishing agent to the structure, but first it is necessary to remove the “old” coating with sandpaper and a wash. If the boards have been painted, the varnish or paint must be removed mechanically, thermally or chemically.

If you suddenly want to do something for the house with your own hands, then it is very important to understand what is actually useful and will not be very difficult to manufacture. First of all, consider doing. A small chipboard table is a great decoration for the overall look of the space, it does not take up much space and is very easy to assemble. You just need to remember a few simple steps, and you can quickly make a beautiful coffee table.

Assembly preparation

First of all, prepare the tools that you will need to make a chipboard table, namely:

  • hammer;
  • construction tape measure;
  • screws;
  • screwdriver
  • furniture pipe with a diameter of 30 mm;
  • pipe flanges;
  • jokers;
  • a hacksaw (if possible - a jigsaw);
  • rubber wheels;

For the manufacture of a table made of chipboard, laminated material with a thickness of 16 mm is perfect.

Figure 1. Scheme of assembling a coffee table.

You can use dowels to fasten parts. Glue them on. In addition, in order to make a coffee table, you will need:

  • wheels and screws for their fastening;
  • glue for connecting the profile and chipboard.

Create drawings of each part of the chipboard table. Lay the cut-out patterns on the material. Circle them with a pencil. After that, where possible, scratch the contour with a sharp nail - so the material will not chip off when sawing. Saw along the outside of the future part.

On the patterns for the bottom of the table and tabletop, print out the outline of the docked legs. Transfer these contours to the details, draw a central line. Mark 3 dowel holes. Using an 8 mm drill, drill holes to a depth of about 12 mm. To control the depth of drilling, it is convenient to use ordinary electrical tape (wind it around the drill).

Next, on the inner ends of the legs, it is necessary to mark the holes for the dowels. They are needed to hold the shelves. Measure 8 mm from the plane of the parts and the same amount from the beginning of the bend. For convenience, you can use the following drawing: fig. one.

To finish the ends, use a flexible U-shaped profile. The texture of the profile should match the color and texture of the chipboard sheet. It is better to use an overlay profile that wraps around the part from 2 sides and does not require a groove for fastening.

Back to index

All ends of the parts from which the coffee table will be made must be processed with sandpaper. For convenience, you can pull it on a flat bar. For visual control, you can scratch the line. Clean up to it and stop. It is necessary to control the perpendicularity of the plane of the bar with sandpaper and the plane of the end face of the part. If there is no perpendicularity, then gaps will be noticeable when the parts are joined.

Lubricate the ends of the parts with glue (liquid nails). Put on the ends of the profile. Most importantly, hold the knife perpendicular to the plane of the end of the part. Trim the lower profile a little and remove the trim. If everything is done correctly, then the profile fits almost perfectly. It will be more accurate if you first stick the profile, and only then cut it off. Cut on the butt.

The shelves and legs that the coffee table will be equipped with are also very easy to join. It is necessary to stick the profile on the legs, and then make holes in it for dowels in the place where the shelf will be attached. Lubricate the end of the table shelf with glue. Connect the leg and shelf with a dowel without glue. Put the profile on the shelf, pressing it against the leg profile. Cut the profile from the opposite side along the end.

It is not necessary to immediately wash off the glue that has come out on the surface of the part from under the profile. Wait until it dries a little. After that, it will be easier to remove it. Otherwise, you will stain the part even more.

Step-by-step instruction

You can buy chipboard, or you can make a coffee table out of some old furniture. For example, the doors of an old cabinet are suitable for this.

Cut out 2 countertops measuring 100x50 cm - you get the base (lower shelf) and the countertop itself. Screw the flanges to the countertops. Step back 6-7 cm from the smaller side and draw a parallel line. Repeat these steps on each countertop on both sides.

As a result, on each part of the board you will get 4 intersection points. It is in these places on both countertops that the flanges must be screwed. Screw the wheels to the table top. It is better to use rubber wheels, because. They are stronger and stronger than plastic ones. After the wheels are in place, insert the pipe base into the flanges of the pipe base. Secure them with screws.

To prevent the coffee table from staggering and being stable, it is necessary to connect adjacent supports with pipes. This is very convenient to do using a joker, which should be fixed in the middle of the pipes.

To make the coffee table more comfortable and beautiful, you can make a glass shelf between the tabletop and the base. To do this, proceed as follows. Replace pipes that run parallel to the long side with special pipes with shelf fasteners. After that, cut the glass to the appropriate size and insert it into the fixtures.

Top coat varnish

When applying a water-based varnish to the table, it is best to use a brush with polyester or nylon bristles.

To prevent premature destruction of the product, you can varnish it. This coating provides good protection against moisture. Prepare tools and materials:

  • wash;
  • rags;
  • sandpaper;
  • grinder;
  • primer;
  • roller;
  • brush;
  • stain.

The order of work depends on whether the product was previously varnished or painted. The old layer of any paint and varnish material must be removed. Only after careful processing can you start re-coating. To clean the table from paintwork materials, you can use a mechanical, thermal or chemical removal method. If a chemical washer is used, it must be applied to the surface to be treated with a rag and (usually after 10 minutes) wipe the table with a dry rag.

To remove old paint or varnish using the thermal method, you will need a building hair dryer. It is necessary to warm up the surface and remove the old layer with a rag.

To mechanically clean the surface of old varnish or paint, use a grinder and a small piece of sandpaper. Carefully clean the surface at low speed, because. at high speeds, the wooden surface can be easily damaged.

A layer of varnish can be applied with a roller or brush. If you use a colorless varnish for work and want the coffee table to have a beautiful shade, then you must first apply 1, 2 or several layers of a colored primer or stain. If you do not use stain, then the surface of the table must be primed for at least 2 layers. This will reduce the consumption of varnish and eliminate minor irregularities.

Use a water based primer. A wide range of such a primer of various colors or colorless is on sale. After applying a primer coat, you need to wait until the surface is completely dry. This takes about 12 hours. Apply a layer of varnish and leave the chipboard table for a day for the layer to dry completely, then re-coat the surface.

Making furniture with your own hands is not only a great way to save money, but also an opportunity to put your creativity into practice!

It's about making coffee tables with your own hands. Too many side tables do not happen. They can be placed next to the sofa to place a vase of flowers or a mug of tea, used as a bedside table or as a stand for houseplant pots. However, monotonous wooden tables are unlikely to revive a dull interior. I want something stylish and unexpected ...

Materials:

Instruments:

Step one: Using a hacksaw, cut the ends of two 2.5x7.5cm boards at a 45 degree angle. Cut out fragments from 2.5 × 5 cm bars, the length of which will correspond to the internal length of 2.5 × 7.5 cm blanks.

how to make a coffee table with your own hands. A photo

step two: Place 2.5x5cm blanks in the middle and 2.5x7.5cm around the edges. Make sure the ends of the inner rails are aligned.

Step Three: Measure the distance between the outermost 2.5x7.5cm boards and cut two blanks of this length from 2.5x10cm boards. They will serve as the lower supports for the bench. Secure them by screwing self-tapping screws into each longitudinal rail.

Step Four: Using the Kreg Jig, drill two pocket holes at each end of the support rails. These holes will be used to connect to the 2.5x7.5cm end pieces.

Tip: It's hard to give specific recommendations on how far from the edge to attach the Kreg Jig. This depends on the length of the screws used, the exact thickness of the board, etc. We advise you to pre-practice on unnecessary scraps of boards.

unusual coffee table with your own hands. A photo

Step five: Place 2.5x7.5 cm blanks along the edges of the structure. After making sure that their ends are at the same level, fix them with clamps.

Tip: If you are using softwood (such as pine) to make the table, place unnecessary scraps of boards under the clamp supports. Otherwise, traces of clamps will remain on the wood.

Step six: Securely attach the 2.5x7.5cm end pieces to the base of the bench by driving 3.5cm wood screws into the countersunk holes you made at the ends of the support rails earlier.

step seven: Measure the width of the finished base to determine how long you need to cut 2.5 × 7.5 cm blanks for the ends of the bench. We recommend that you take a sip with a small margin in length, and then take your time to grind off the excess until you achieve the perfect fit.

Step eight: Moisten the ends of all rails with water and apply a small amount of Gorilla Glue.

Step nine: Install the end boards in their intended place and wrap the entire structure with a belt so that it does not fall apart until the glue dries. For reliability, you can additionally fix the ends with a few finishing nails.

Step ten: Sand the surface of the bench with 120 grit sandpaper to eliminate any unevenness at the joints. All gaps in the seams and recesses from the heads of nails (the latter must be recessed into the wood without fail) fill with putty. When the putty is dry, sand the surface again, this time with 220 grit sandpaper.

Step Eleven: Paint the bench. We advise you to sand the surface again before painting with 400 grit sandpaper and water.

Step twelve: On the lower support rails, fit the special mounting plates for attaching the legs. When fixing them, make sure that you drill holes in places where there are no already screwed screws. The distance from the mount to the edge of the bench base should be about 2.5 cm. Screw the legs themselves into the mounts.

Coffee table made of copper pipes. Master Class

The material for the manufacture of the next table can, perhaps, be called the most unexpected. This time we decided to tell you how to make a table out of ... copper tubes with your own hands.

Materials and tools:

The figure below shows all parts (pipes (A-E) and various fittings (F-H)) with their dimensions and quantities. All that's left for you to take pipe cutter and sit in front of the TV, which will brighten up the tedious cutting process a little. It's not hard, just a little boring. 😉

When all the blanks are ready, you can begin to assemble the lower part of the table. How to do this is shown in the figure.

Having collected the lower tier, you can proceed to the upper one. The only part not listed in the parts list are the four pieces of 2.5 cm pipe that are placed in tees at the top of the corner posts. Without these inserts, you will not be able to put on decorative caps, because. the latter have the same diameter as the tees.

Reliable connection of the tubes to each other will ensure glue, but we recommend applying it only after the preliminary assembly of the structure, i.e. after you make sure that all the cut tubes are of the right length and fit well with each other.

Wooden shelves, which you can pre-paint if you wish, are fixed with special clamps that are placed on the underside of each board. Now you are ready to decorate your home with your new DIY table!

DIY lightweight cement table

Concrete countertops and other interior elements have recently become more and more popular. However, for all their attractiveness, they are not without a number of shortcomings. First, pouring large amounts of concrete can sometimes be quite expensive. Secondly, if we are talking about small side tables, another serious problem comes to light - such furniture turns out to be too heavy. On the one hand, there is a desire to get a good, solid thing, on the other hand, I want to be able to move a table made by myself without the help of professional movers. The found solution can be considered an insight.

Materials and tools:

Step one: Mark and cut the foam sheet. From a 120x240 cm piece, you can cut 18 squares 40x40 cm. Stacking them on top of each other, you get a 40x40x45 cm box.

do-it-yourself foam board. A photo

step two: Glue the cut pieces. 3M Super 77 spray adhesive is ideal for this. It is best to perform this stage of work outdoors. Don't forget to wear gloves and a long sleeve shirt. Apply an even layer of glue to one side of the first square, then do the same with the second. Wait ~15 seconds, then connect the squares, making sure their edges are joined. Repeat this until all the square blanks are connected into a single whole. Wait about 30 minutes before proceeding to step 3.

Step Three: Now the most interesting thing ... giving the resulting parallelepiped the outlines of the future table. We decided to make a table in the shape of a cylinder. You can come up with something more original or, on the contrary, keep the original block with right angles. Cutting foam is easy and fun. At first, your design will have a rough, angular look, but don't worry! After the table has been given the desired shape, it will be time for grinding. Using sandpaper 36 grit will quickly smooth out any bumps. As you get closer to the ideal, gradually move to sandpaper with a finer grit size. Don't aim for a super-smooth surface, at this stage it's just a matter of getting the desired shape.

Step four: The surface of the future table is polished, it is time to cement it. The first coat, applied throughout the foam mold, will fill in the voids and texture of the foam. You only have ~20 minutes, so act fast so you have time to iron out the bumps. When the applied cement mortar dries, you can apply the next layer. The number of layers depends on how smooth and even the surface you want to have in the final (as a rule, four to five layers are required). It should be remembered that the smoother the surface of the final layer before it dries, the less it will have to be sanded!

Tip: When preparing cement mortar, follow the manufacturer's instructions. You should not prepare more mortar than you need to apply one layer (for example, we used 220 ml of water and 450 g of cement). Make sure you don't forget to cover your workbench or workshop floor as this is a messy job.

Step five: After the last layer of cement has dried, you can sand the surface if desired. We wanted to achieve a glossy finish, at least on the top of the table, so we sanded it down using a variety of grit sandpaper ranging from 100 to 2000.

Tip: If you are planning this operation, get a protective mask that will help you protect your lungs from cement dust.

(The table made in this project turned out to be very strong and strong, but at the same time it weighed no more than a kilogram.)

Do-it-yourself stump table

The material for the next table sometimes literally lies underfoot. Even residents of megacities, if desired, will be able to find a suitable stump.

log table. A photo

Materials and tools:

  • wooden block;
  • white acrylic paint;
  • manual grinder;
  • chisel;
  • hammer;
  • decorative upholstery nails;
  • molar tape.

Step one: Find a table base! This should not be an old rotten stump, but a freshly sawn block of wood. Let it dry for at least 6 months (there's nothing worse than waiting, but it's necessary) until the bark begins to peel off the trunk.

Step two: Using a chisel, gently remove the bark from the log in a downward motion. If the stump is dry enough, you won't have to use too much force.

Step three: Using a sander with medium grit sandpaper, sand the surface, removing the remaining bark and smoothing out sharp corners. Do not forget to sand the surfaces of the lower and upper cuts. Wipe the wood with a damp cloth.

Step Four: It's time for painting. We used a white semi-gloss paint that includes a primer (we needed three coats for full coverage). You can choose a different type and color of paint, focusing solely on your taste. Don't forget to pre-prime the surface of the wood. Make sure you don't forget to finish the bottom cut.

Step five: Get your decorative nails ready. Apply a strip of masking tape along the top edge of the side surface of the block of wood, thereby marking the place where the first row of nails will be located.

Step Six: Using a hammer, drive in the first row of decorative nails. To ensure that the distance from them to the upper edge is the same throughout the “line” of nails, use the strip of masking tape you previously glued as a guide. After the first row is completed, repeat the same with the second and third row of nails (we needed almost 150 studs for three rows).

Tip: Cover the underside of the stump with furniture felt so you can move the table around the room without damaging the flooring.

The work is done. You can use the new piece of furniture and be proud that you made this charming coffee table with your own hands.

Coffee tables: do it yourself

Wooden table: how to make?

Many people are interested in how to make a wooden table with their own hands to get a model with an original appearance. Let's consider one of the options.

To make an original coffee table with your own hands, you should take beam with a section of 5x10cm. It is sawn into parts of the following length: 130cm - 9pcs, 21cm - 12pcs, 34cm - 2pcs.

The prepared beam is placed in three rows, leaving room for attaching the legs.

Remove the top two rows. The timber in the third row is slightly shifted to get an interesting appearance. Next, mark the places for attaching the transverse parts.

Lay the extreme bars of the second row and mark the places of the cuts. Then cuts are made circular saw or a hacksaw with a chisel.

The bars of the second row are fixed with screws.

The third row is laid, the parts are shifted and fixed.

An empty space is formed under the tabletop, in which they are fixed legs.

Wood is processed protective composition that preserves the grain of the wood.

Your choice in favor of chipboard will help to realize all exclusive ideas due to the budget option.

Independent work is full of pleasant bonuses, some of which are: freedom of choice, the ability to take into account the layout of the room, its interior and the wishes of customers (especially if it's you), as a result of which you get a user-friendly design.

In addition, this is an excellent realization of creative potential, obtaining new skills that are useful in everyday life.

Chipboard and chipboard are widely used in furniture production, as well as in the manufacture of exhibition stands, interior decoration of supermarkets, pharmacies, shops. The reason for this is a number of benefits possessed by these materials:

Such material will not exfoliate suddenly and will not disintegrate due to increased moisture in the room. Even during processing, it will retain its original appearance, so it you can safely screw dowels and screws.

Particleboard is characterized by a too primitive type of low-grade raw materials, but laminated chipboard (LDSP), covered with a resistant melamine film, has every chance to pass for natural wood, thereby increasing the aesthetic level of visiting without special costs.

When planning the creation of the above materials, all negative aspects should be taken into account. First of all, it is their toxicity (formaldehyde content). The second indicator may be questionable strength.

Advice. When buying, you should carefully inspect the tile on both sides, maybe even try to push a screwdriver in to make sure that you can’t push the object into the surface.

Drawing

Suppose that you have enough space in your apartment or office so that you can “walk around”, so we will make a table 736 cm long and 536 cm wide.

It can serve as a dining table in the living room, and a surface for storing fashion magazines, books and other stationery.

But most importantly, there will be enough space on it (as many as 3 countertops) to place all the necessary things that should remain at hand.

So, the table will be:

  • countertops;
  • slats (4 pcs.);
  • shelves (2 pcs.);
  • rubber wheels (4 pcs.);
  • plastic corners (4 pcs.);
  • confirmations (8 pcs.);
  • self-tapping screws 3.5 * 16 (16 pcs.);
  • melamine edging or ABS.

Start with development drawing, taking into account all the points (space area, available materials, further purpose of use). Ready-made patterns of the base and legs must be attached to a sheet of chipboard. This is done in order to make it convenient to outline the contours of the future product with a pencil or pen, after which, for greater clarity of the drawn borders, we scratch with a nail.

All identical parts must be mirror image, and this is quite easy to achieve. The 1st part can act as a template for cutting out all the others. After that, it is worth adding all the elements to make sure that there are no inconsistencies.

If we want not to deviate from the classics, then to create a coffee table we need to cut out 3 countertops (the 1st will be the surface of the table, the 2nd and 3rd will become the lower shelves).

During drawing, the properties of the material should be taken into account so that later it is not necessary to grind the flaws visible to the naked eye.

Tools and fasteners

So, to create the perfect do-it-yourself table, we need an easy-to-understand drawing with all sizes, materials and tools:

  • hammer, level;
  • electric drill with drills;
  • jigsaw;
  • screwdrivers, files;
  • hacksaw;
  • clear varnish and brush;
  • hardware;
  • square, pencil, ruler and tape measure.

How to do?

In order to keep the room where the work is carried out clean and not dusty, you should spread newspapers, wallpaper, or cardboard on the floor surface, and upon completion of the process, collect and discard them.

Important. All elements of the future product should be thoroughly cleaned.

How to paint?

Our table is almost ready. Small matter - cover it with clear varnish. But, again, it all depends on the state of the newly created object, and what you want to do with it: refresh or give it the look of antiquity.

Important. Measure the area of the facade, multiply it by 2, because you have to apply a layer of the substance twice for even coverage. Also don't forget to get rubber gloves to help keep your hands clean.

Chipboard products before painting need treat with impregnations deep penetration, so the glue in the sawdust will stop evaporating harmful substances, and the surface will become more moisture resistant.

Do not rush to cover the front side of the table, first check the selected chemical composition on the neutral (invisible) side of the plate. After the first application, pause, allowing the liquid to dry, then fix the result.

Advice. Painting is best done in a non-residential area, or on a balcony / loggia, so the persistent smell will disappear from the apartment much faster without causing headaches for its residents.

After complete drying, proceed to the assembly of the structure.

Conclusion

Over time, you can add complexity to your own technique by choosing interesting patterns or mosaics instead of the usual varnishing. The main thing to remember is that you should not be afraid of your own mistakes, because everything is fixable, and even failures, with a very good desire, can be beaten, turning into a unique “zest”.
