DIY car alarm connection diagram. Car alarm, do-it-yourself installation

A car of any brand must be reliably protected from possible theft or unauthorized entry for the purpose of stealing the owner’s personal belongings from the interior. Installing a car alarm will create an appropriate level of security for your personal vehicle. Today there are many different security kits. Most often used security equipment well-known brands, for example, StarLine, Mongoose, Tomahawk, Alligator Sheriff, Pantera, Scher-Khan.

Installing a car alarm yourself Lately becomes a hot topic. Included with the alarm system are instructions for performing installation and configuration work.

Modern cars, including domestic production, equipped with a security line. Such a security line, as a rule, has a minimum functional set. However, standard functions are not always sufficient to ensure effective protection car. Therefore, car enthusiasts often wonder how to install an alarm system themselves.

What types of car alarm systems are there?

Installing car alarms always begins with choosing the most suitable equipment. Before purchasing ready-made kit you need to determine the type of system being installed. Today, the following main types of alarms are distinguished:

  • With one-way communication;
  • With feedback;
  • With two-way communication.

Installation of car alarms with one-way communication is the simplest and at the same time reliable. Using this kit, you can block the engine, control the central locking, as well as the state of the hood and luggage compartment. Such complexes are usually installed on inexpensive cars. Alarm systems with feedback allow you to control the main subsystems of the machine remotely (distance range up to 1 km). The functional set is generally similar to the set of options in one-way signaling.

The video shows an example of alarm installation:

Installing car alarms with two-way communication will allow you to start the engine remotely. The gearbox used (manual or automatic) does not affect the operation of the system. The cost of this type of security line is higher than that of the two previous complexes.

How to calculate the cost of installing a car alarm?

Installation of car alarms can be carried out independently or by qualified specialists. In the case of installation of an alarm system by specialized service companies, the cost of the work performed is established taking into account the following factors:

  • The type of alarm device (for example, installing a one-way alarm system costs much less than installing a system with auto start);
  • Availability of additional functions in the system;
  • The need to install an additional package of options (for example, turbo timer mode, mirror control, etc.).

The price of installation work does not depend on the cost of the car or its make. Installing a car alarm includes the following steps:

  • Connecting the system to the control unit;
  • Configuring installed sensors;
  • Connection and connection of door end elements to transmit an alert signal about the opening of any door, including the hood or luggage compartment;
  • Setting up the engine blocking function;
  • Connecting a siren.

As practice shows, installation and configuration work takes no more than 5 hours. Determine the exact cost installation work almost impossible, since the price is influenced by a number of the above factors. Any specialized company offers to purchase a set of equipment and at the same time install an alarm system on the car. In this case, the price is generalized, i.e., it includes the cost of both components and installation and configuration work. average cost car alarm installation Russian Federation is given in the table.

What set of tools is needed when performing installation work yourself?

In order to install a car alarm on your own, you first need to carefully study the operating instructions. The instructions that come with the car alarm describe the procedure for performing installation, configuration and startup work. To carry out installation operations you will need a certain set of tools:

  • Electronic multimeter (used to measure the conductivity of connecting cable lines);
  • Extra cable (since cable line, included in the kit, may not be long enough);
  • Foam pad (for packaging the central control unit);
  • Insulating tape;
  • Double sided tape;
  • Socket wrench;
  • Screwdrivers of various diameters;

The video shows how to make a car alarm with your own hands:

How to correctly determine the location of alarm components?

Installation of a car alarm begins with the design stage and determination of the location of the system components. The central unit is installed behind dashboard. It is first wrapped with foam padding and secured. The unit must be located inside the car in a place hidden from unauthorized persons. It is not recommended to place the central block mechanism near moving parts.

When installing a car alarm, you need to pay attention to a number of aspects:

  • To avoid kinks and subsequent short circuit (break) of the connecting wires in the door-body section, it is necessary to use rubber tubes or bushings;
  • Electrical wiring must be located in a dry place;
  • Fastening and direction of connecting cables is carried out using special plastic clamps;
  • The sensors are located in accordance with the determining influencing factor;
  • The LED indicator is best placed on the front panel in the cabin.

Stages of self-installation of a car alarm

Installing a car alarm yourself begins with determining the power supply to the central unit. The body of the car is a kind of “minus”. The “plus” can be the ignition switch or the battery itself.

Next, the light alarm is connected. It can be connected to turn signals or low beam headlights. It is important to remember that you cannot connect it directly to the wire going to the main headlights. The light element is connected to the lighting control relay.

After connecting the light alarm, the system is connected to the central locking system. The connection diagram can be varied depending on the type of alarm system and the make of the car. For correct installation You need to study the instructions and electrical diagram of the machine. When making a connection central block and lock, it is necessary to calculate the total current strength of the locking devices and check its relationship with permissible load in the control unit.

After connecting the central locking, the end elements of the trunk and hood are connected to the alarm system, and the door opening contacts are also connected.

Then the functionality of the entire complex is checked, and the system is configured and, if necessary, programmed. Classic scheme Connecting a car alarm looks like this.

Installing an alarm system on a car is more of a mandatory activity than an amateur one. Firstly, you will feel much calmer. Secondly, there is a psychological factor that deters potential robbers. Thirdly, the cost of installation is tens or even hundreds of times cheaper than the price tag of the car.

Many manufacturers initially equip their products with a minimum set of driver safety features, but this is often not enough for reliable protection. In this case, it would be wiser to install an alarm on a car with expanded functionality and a set of capabilities, which will significantly reduce the likelihood of potential theft.

Alarm selection

Before installation, you need to decide what you want from protection. For these purposes, arm yourself with a piece of paper and a pen, and then write down the key selection criteria. Mandatory points must be followed:

  • warming up the engine;
  • signal range;
  • automatic locking (CL);
  • auto grabber and other protection options;
  • anti-scanner.

The last point is responsible for interference when trying to intercept commands from your remote key. Technologies are constantly evolving, and hacking a car is not only possible through brute force.

Next, we’ll look at the price range of devices and our own budget. At this stage, owner reviews, documentation and other nuances are carefully studied. Ideally, you should consult with a specialist you trust, since in salons you can’t always hear a sane, qualified answer. Once everything is satisfied, you can buy the installation for your car.

System installation options

A bunch of wires, sensors, speakers and diodes need to be somehow placed in the car. The easiest way is to order from trusted service stations. You will receive a guarantee, high-quality wiring, performance of all key elements and more. Also everything will be done in optimal timing and on top level. Another thing is that the installation itself will cost a pretty penny: often the cost of the installation exceeds the price tag of the alarm system itself, which is not always to the benefit of the car owner.

If this method suits you, you don’t have to read further, since we’ll talk about self-installation cables, connecting the installation to the system and other nuances. Yes, there is no guarantee, but the savings are significant. Do you know anything about cars? Then this is your option.

We install it ourselves

How to install an alarm yourself? It’s worth starting with documentation, both for the car and for the device.

Carefully understand the wiring so that in the future you do not have to disassemble half of the interior and all the panels to find this or that cable.

Decide on the optimal connection points for further installation. Modern devices mounted near fuses, which provides the following advantages:

  • system availability;
  • installation reliability.

You will also avoid problems with switching and will be able to operate with existing cable routes, which will significantly speed up the process and save time.

Necessary tool

Since the installations differ from each other, there is a single list of required tools and auxiliary elements no, but the average list looks like this:

  • Phillips screwdriver (preferably magnetic);
  • 10mm wrench with crank;
  • wire stripper or knife;
  • insulating tape;
  • double sided tape;
  • multimeter;
  • foam rubber for wrapping the main block.

You will find all other components, including the alarm itself, in the box.

Alarm installation algorithm

  1. Need to connect right away sound supply system, and then perform central lock switching. All wires are screwed to terminals in the security system. Then we do the same with the turn signals, since they are also part of the installation.
  2. We connect the wires that supply power supply for alarm, but we don’t turn on the current yet. The main condition is polarity. If you mix it up, the device may simply burn out. This is where a multimeter or voltmeter comes in handy, although a regular indicator screwdriver will also work.
  3. Next stage - ground connection a separate wire attached to the car body using M6 or M8 bolts. After this, the alarm can be connected to the ignition switch. This is done by passing two wires from the central unit.
  4. Afterwards the installation is carried out transmitter for control panel, which hangs on the keychain. It is often mounted on the windshield. The wires are laid separately to avoid various interferences, which can lead to false alarms. Not everyone will like the systematic howling under the window, even if the car is parked in a garage or in a paid parking lot. The LED is fixed in the upper part of the glass, just step back about 20 mm from the body.
  5. Then we move on to installation shock sensor, which is installed behind the dashboard using clamps or tape.

Signal part and completion of installation

Let's move on to the beeper, without which not a single alarm system can operate. The speaker is mounted under the wiper mounting system, so you will have to completely disassemble it and insert the siren. The wiring is laid along existing routes: one pair of cables goes to the wipers, next to which you place another one. Then everything comes down to original form, and don’t forget about the rain protection system.

What remains is the limit switch, which is placed under the hood. Its responsibilities include monitoring the engine when the alarm is in the active position. The limit switch is usually placed above the left headlight. The principle of operation is simple: an attacker, when trying to open a car from the engine side, opens the alarm system and provokes it to turn on.

Finally, all that remains is to make the motor and alarm work synchronously. For these purposes, a contact group is connected to the fuel pump control system. Turning on the security system activates the relay and opens the required contact. As a result, when the alarm is active, the pump simply will not turn on, and the car, accordingly, will not start.

Results

Some particularly expensive cars have a redundant alarm system, which can further reduce the likelihood of theft. On the other hand, in our realities such a service is very expensive, so it is not widely distributed.

In general, installing an alarm system yourself is quite possible. Difficulties can arise only at the stage of checking and verifying the wires, so you need to carefully read the instructions and passport documentation of the vehicle. If you do everything carefully and use indicators like a multimeter, the whole process will take several hours. On the other hand, in this way you will get to know the car even better, improve your own skills and save significantly on the service. Only you can decide who to trust with the safety of your iron horse and how much to pay for it.

Nowadays, there are many ways to protect your car from theft, but the most common is the use of an alarm system. Standard signaling systems in new vehicles have the simplest set of functions, and, therefore, are not able to provide the required level of vehicle safety. As a result of this, the installation of alarm systems that have greater functionality is becoming increasingly important. Specialized alarms virtually eliminate the possibility of car theft and reduce to zero the likelihood of entry into it. More on this later in the article.

A car alarm is a device designed to protect a vehicle from theft, as well as from theft of items located in the car. The alarm notifies the car owner and others about unauthorized entry into the car using sound and light signals.

Today there are the following types of car alarms:

  1. Spaced - individual elements located in several places in the car interior.
  2. Monoblock - the main elements are in one place.

Monoblock alarms are more compact and easier to install, but spaced alarms are more reliable, since an attacker will have to work hard to disarm all alarm components.

In addition, there are three main types of car alarms:

Car alarm, which is included in the basic version

The alarm package includes the following components:

Depending on the cost of the device, the package may not include one or another element that can be purchased separately. The same applies to the central locking mechanisms.

Assistant tools, devices, consumables

Pro tips on why you need to use a multimeter and not the “light bulb” principle when connecting alarm outputs

Never use the light bulb principle to find the wires you need. In a car, such a test can lead to the generator relay failing, airbags shorting, and much more.

Light signaling, connection methods

The light alarm must be connected to the main headlights or turn signals. In the latter case, it is necessary to find the direction indicator wires in the hazard warning switch; in the first case, the connection is made to the relay control wire. Practice shows that it is better to connect the light alarm to the wires of the direction indicators, and not to the dimensions.

Central locking of a car, how to connect the alarm system to the central locking in accordance with the instructions of the car alarm manufacturer

Connection to the central locking is carried out using various schemes, which depends on the design of the device. It is located inside the car in a hidden place. To find it, you should first study the vehicle's electrical circuit. Find the connection point - as a rule, this is the central locking control unit. It can be located in the following places:

  1. On the driver's door.
  2. On the central dashboard.
  3. There may be a central locking control button in the cabin.

There are also car models where there is no central locking at all. In this case, it must be installed.

Car alarm, connecting door opening contacts

The connection point to the door unlocking contacts must be determined. You can find this point in electrical diagram to your car. To save time, you can also visit specialized forums and look for a hint there.

Shock alarm sensors, how to make adjustments

Shock sensors should be mounted as rigidly as possible to the vehicle body to improve vibration perception. It is forbidden to mount them near air ducts, since in this case the alarm will be triggered by movement air flow and at high heat in the open sun. The sensors must be secured using self-tapping screws.

To configure, first disable the security mode and enter the programming mode. All changes that are made will be saved in the device memory. The sensitivity of older car alarms is adjusted using a special screw; in newer models this procedure is carried out using buttons. The sensitive scale has several levels that determine the degree of alarm response.

When adjusting, the weight of the vehicle, the method of mounting the security system, and much more are taken into account.

Engine blocking using ignition wire

As a rule, the engine is locked using the ignition wire coming out of its lock. Without removing the six-pin lock connector, ring it to find the ignition wire.

To connect, you should find a wire at which the voltage is plus 12 V when the ignition key in the lock is on the “ACC” mark. When you turn the key to the Start state, the plus should disappear. This wire should be blocked.

To determine it correctly, remove the connector from the lock and short-circuit the permanent plus with a jumper, and short-circuit the starter and permanent plus with a second jumper. If the car starts, then this is the same wire. In addition, as soon as the car starts, immediately remove the jumper. The cord needs to be cut, the connector inserted, and then checked. The vehicle should not start. Then disconnect the alarm and ignition wires. Just don't forget to install the relay.

As you can see, installing a car alarm yourself is quite simple, although a little labor-intensive. It is worth noting that one of the most important points is the choice of car alarm. Since the security systems market is very widely represented in our time, we should approach this issue with all responsibility. Choose only quality devices from well-known manufacturers, otherwise your desire to save money may cost you a pretty penny.

The car can undoubtedly be called one of the most progressive achievements of science and technology. Its role is gaining more and more importance in life every day; every day we see an endless flow of cars, traffic jams... their demand is confirmed by the fact that new brands and models are released every month.

They are completely different, from business class to more budget option. But regardless of status, a very pressing question for motorists is how to protect their car from break-ins and theft. Fortunately, in any auto shop, you can purchase an alarm system that is suitable and convenient for you personally, and even install it yourself. This will ensure a good night's sleep and ensure that everything is in order with your vehicle.

Types of alarms

One-sided

The model is inexpensive, simple, accessible with minimal functions. The owner controls the central locking remotely using a key fob, there is an engine blocking function and a shock sensor, in addition it has a channel that makes it possible to open and close the hood and trunk. The range of the key fob is not great. There is no feedback in this form; threats to the car can be found out only by a loud siren.

Double sided

Budget, best option having feedback. The key fob has a color display that provides complete control over the car, using a melody, vibration signal, and display activation, at a distance of about 300 meters. When choosing, be guided by the range zone; the longer, the better and safer for you.

With auto engine start

The model is double-sided, with the ability to start the engine remotely. Suitable for almost any car, both turbodiesel and conventional gasoline engine with mechanics. Starting is carried out by voltage, by a timer, or by pressing the key fob button itself. If a standard immobilizer is installed on the car, a second ignition key is required.

Telematic

Most modern look, which allows you to control the alarm via the Internet using a mobile application.

With GPS, GSM module

Gives you the right to fully control the car from your mobile phone. The alarm system consists of security sensors that are connected to the central unit.

With turbo timer

For turbocharged cars with any type of connection. It may have an engine auto-start function and an intelligent turbo timer.

With can module

Only for cars with can tires. Very high quality, top class with auto engine start function. The cost is expensive, but justified.

SLAVE

You can connect and drive the car using a standard ignition key, which has buttons for opening and closing the car. In this case, there is no need to carry a key fob with you.

Installing an alarm yourself is a responsible step that requires some knowledge, skills and abilities, but nothing is impossible. There are many advantages to installing a car alarm yourself.

Only you will know where it is located, without outside advice according to the thumbnail diagram, the process of tinkering with the car itself is a pleasure, you will save family budget. The alarm box itself is the size of a palm, in which all the strength and power is hidden, this allows you to hide it in the most difficult way from intruders.

DIY alarm installation

So, you have decided on the type of alarm, I recommend that you study in detail the instructions and diagrams that come with it. It's important to choose right place For installation, the best option is under the dashboard:

  • We remove two panels (instrument and steering), as a rule, they are attached with screws or clips, you just need to unscrew them. Next, remove the lower trim from the steering block and see the ignition switch. For safety reasons, it is better to place the connectors from the panel on old rags or fabric, since a short circuit may occur when interacting with metal.
  • We connect the alarm output to the parking lights or turn signals to the control panel, also to the indicator open doors and engine control. On the back panel we find the turn signal lamps, there are tracks on the board with the lamps, we find a contact with 12 V power. We attach the connector to the track, you need to turn on the rotation and check the voltage with a multimeter; if the light on the multimeter screen lights up, then the required wire has been found and the connection has been made.
    Next you need to find a negatively charged wire. It is responsible for the reaction to an open door, we see minus 12V on the contact, when closed door the voltage will be 0.
    Using the same principle, we find the engine control start wire, the charging lamp, emergency pressure engine. Carefully understand each of the details of the ongoing process.
  • The next step is to connect to the central locking (according to the connection diagram to the panel). We find the lock switching relay and check it according to the principle of opening and closing the lock.
  • Burn everyone necessary wires wrap it with black electrical tape for good insulation and visibility of the factory wiring. We close exclusively from the detachable side of the alarm. Then we connect the wiring to the alarm system itself and carefully hide it. We connect the machine wires to the alarm wires using clamps, a lighter or a knife. We stretch the cable of the siren itself under the hood, attach the second cable of the siren to ground, and fix the end switch to the frame. We connect to a wire on which the voltage of 12V remains regardless of the position.
  • You need to ring the lock connector with six contacts in order to find the ignition wire. We insert the key into the lock and look for a wire with a voltage of 12 V. We pull the wire out of the lock and close it with a jumper, this way we will make sure that we have chosen the correct cable. If the car starts, then everything is correct, the jumper must be removed, now we connect the wires directly to the alarm and ignition. At this point the installation process can be considered complete.

As you can see, knowing the theoretical information about the connection, fulfilling all the points and requirements is more than realistic. Don’t be afraid to spend your time on quality installation.

  1. be aware of where your car is stored (in the garage, near the house), the radius of the covered area and what kind of connection are important;
  2. for cars located near the house, the optimal zone is 300-500 meters, an alarm system with a siren, pager and light switching on is suitable;
  3. a large number of sensors will provide reliable protection, especially if the wheels on the car are expensive, a tilt sensor is relevant;
  4. focus on prices, remember, more expensive does not mean better;
  5. keep the installation instructions with a description; if you have any questions, you can find the answer there;
  6. Change the batteries in your key fob in a timely manner; it is better to have several key fobs themselves.

By taking care of the safety of your car, you are taking care of yourself. After all, it’s much calmer to live knowing that something important to you is under reliable protection. The main thing is not to make a mistake with your choice! Definitely, the article will be beneficial for you and your car, but remember, if you are not confident in your strengths and abilities, it is better to contact a service station.

Motor vehicles are not cheap, so they often try to steal them. There are many ways to protect your car from theft, but the most popular is the use of an alarm system. Standard alarm systems in new cars have the simplest set of functions, which means they provide an insufficient level of vehicle safety. It is for this reason that the installation of an alarm system with greater functionality is becoming increasingly important. Specialized alarms virtually eliminate the possibility of vehicle theft and entry into it.

Installing an alarm with your own hands is a simple procedure and almost any motorist can do it. The main thing is to have desire and a little knowledge in this area.

1. Alarm selection.

Car alarm– this is a device whose purpose is to protect the car from theft and theft of objects in the car. The alarm will notify the owner and others about unauthorized access to the car using light and sound signals. In most cases, the alarm system consists of a main unit, an antenna, a shock sensor, door, trunk and hood opening sensors, a key fob, a service button, LED indicator and a set of wires.

Before installing an alarm system on a car, you need to select and buy it correctly. Selecting an alarm is a complex process that requires potential buyers endurance and willingness to spend a little time. What types of car alarms are there? There are many different alarm systems on the market today that differ in functionality.

Car alarms can be equipped with such functions:

1. Engine blocking.

2. Actuated by impacts.

3. Triggered to open the hood, doors and trunk.

4. Auto start using key fob.

5. Two-way communication (vehicle status can be displayed on the key fob).

6. Ability to program functions.

7. Other functions.

Types of car alarms:

1. Monoblock(the main components are located in one place).

2. Spaced(individual components are located in several places inside the car).

Monoblock alarms are more compact and easier to install, but spaced ones are more reliable, since an attacker will have to work hard to disarm all the alarm elements. When choosing a car alarm, you should pay attention to the following aspects:

1. There are many manufacturers on the market and there are many schemes for installing alarms on a car. Therefore, when choosing, pay attention to the installation diagram of the alarm system in the car and how suitable they are for your vehicle.

2. If you decide to buy a GSM alarm system, then you should understand that it is better to hire a specialist for installation, since such an alarm system is more complicated than a regular one and requires considerable experience to install it.

3. First, determine your requirements for a security system and necessary functions(range of action, is it necessary additional functions, such as anti-scanner or anti-grabber), and then proceed to the selection.

4. Price is an important aspect when choosing any product. But you don’t have to spend a lot of money to buy a high-quality alarm system. There are very good options in the mid-price range. The main thing is to be able to find. Price suitable alarm usually amounts to 5-6% of the cost of the car.

5. Be sure to read reviews on relevant online resources and look at full reviews of the product before making a final purchasing decision.

6. Consider the storage conditions of the vehicle. If you park your car far from home, then there is no great need for a powerful siren and light alarm (unless it can scare away a burglar). In this case, it is better to buy alarms with two-way communication or GSM alarms. If parking occurs near the house, then frequent alarms from false influences are unlikely to please both you and the residents of the house. Here you either need to set up the alarm correctly, or give preference to another type.

7. It is better that the alarm system has as many different sensors as possible. Useful feature– tilt sensor. This will help protect against wheel rim thieves.

8. The presence of a GPS module is an excellent design addition. After all, even if an attacker manages to steal a car, you can always track it.

9. A good addition to a car alarm (and sometimes an element of it) is an immobilizer. This device is blocking important systems car (starter, ignition, fuel lines, etc.), which protects it from theft.

10. As for manufacturers, the following have proven themselves well: Tomahawk, Alligator Sheriff, Mongoose, StarLine, Pantera, Scher-Khan.

Most the best option– consult with a familiar specialist. His expert opinion will dispel all doubts and help you make the right choice.

2. GSM – alarm system.

GSM - alarm– this is a new word in car security systems. Such an alarm allows the owner to maintain constant communication with his vehicle. The GSM alarm system has a built-in GSM module. This module transmits information about the car (its location, condition) via mobile communications.

GSM alarm system, like any other car alarm system, is designed to protect the car from theft, but such an alarm system reports all attempts of unauthorized access not only with sound and light, but also via mobile communications.

The operating principle of GSM alarm is quite simple. Sensors detect suspicious activity and send a signal to the GSM module, which sends a command to the annunciator (sound and/or light). At the same time, the GSM module sends a message to mobile phone owner. Types of GSM alarms:

1. Wireless (the command to the sirens is transmitted via a radio signal).

2. Wired (the command to the sirens is transmitted through connecting wires).

This type of alarm is quite effective remedy to combat car theft. The main disadvantage of GSM alarm system is its high cost, which not every motorist can afford. Yes, and install similar security systems on vehicles, the cost of which is lower than the system itself does not make sense.

3. Installation options.

There are many options to install an alarm on your car. I distinguish such car alarm installation options:

1. Exclusive installation a master who specializes in car alarms. The advantages of this option are high quality installation, an individual approach to each client, the absence of external damage to the car and problems with electronics, and the full functionality of the security system after its installation. Disadvantages of this option - high price, long duration of work (may take several days), the master may not take on all car models.

2. Professional installation by a car electronics specialist. This option is also different high quality with just the right amount of personality to provide excellent anti-theft performance. This option has the same advantages and disadvantages as the previous one.

3. Professional installation by technical centers that specialize in auto electronics. The advantages of this option are big choice car models, which are handled by specialists, a wide selection of additional services and equipment for installation, affordable speed of alarm installation.

The disadvantages of this option are the high probability of damage and incorrect assembly of vehicle elements during installation, low interest in the quality of work, and a violent reaction to complaints addressed to the center.

4. Installation by technical centers additional equipment, which are located at car dealerships. The advantages of this option are a very high speed of installation of equipment on a car, excellent knowledge of the features of the cars on which installation is carried out, in well-known salons the quality of the work performed is strictly controlled. The disadvantages of this option are that mainly standard anti-theft solutions are used, which will not complicate the work of an attacker, damage to car elements is possible due to tight deadlines, car dealerships often impose certain models of car alarms.

5. Installation by a general auto electrician in a garage or service station This option is very dependent on the specific specialist and the quality of work with this option is most unpredictable, so it should be resorted to only as a last resort. The advantages of such a car alarm installation are the ability to combine the alarm installation with other car maintenance work. The disadvantages of such a car alarm installation are low interest in quality work on the part of the installer, a high probability of damage to elements of the car interior and its standard systems, the inability to implement all the alarm capabilities, frequent imposition specific models alarms, very primitive installation solutions, which makes it easier for hijackers, a violent reaction to complaints about the work, there is a chance that the consequences of such an installation will have to be eliminated by turning to expensive services.

6. Self-installation by the motorist. Modern car alarms can be installed even by non-specialists in car electronics. If you have time, desire and familiar specialists from whom you can take advice, then self-installation can even be enjoyable. An undoubted advantage self-installation alarm system is that there are no additional installation costs. The disadvantage of installing an alarm system yourself is that for the installation of an alarm system to be successful, you must have at least minimal experience and a theoretical basis on this issue.

4. Why do you install the alarm yourself?

The reasons that push drivers to install the alarm themselves are most often the following:

1. Lack or lack of money for professional installation.

2. The design of the alarm system is non-standard (if a motorist cannot find an alarm system of the required design for his car, then he can make it with his own hands).

3. Many people like to “work with their hands” and they get satisfaction from the process itself, and the result of the work increases their self-confidence.

Let's look at how to produce self-installation alarms In order to independently install an alarm system on a car, you need the following set of tools:

1. Phillips screwdriver(in order to remove car parts).

2. Set of keys(for removing car parts).

3. Wire stripper(you can use a regular knife or pliers).

4. Double-sided adhesive tape.

5. Voltage measuring device (multimeter).

6. High quality electrical tape.

7. Several pieces of foam rubber(wrap it around the alarm so that it does not make noise when driving).

8. The alarm itself.

Self installation process car alarm consists of the following stages:

1. Select a location to install the central unit (it is easiest and most convenient to install the unit behind the instrument panel).

2. Remove the instrument and steering panels, and also remove the lower trim on the steering column. Such manipulations will give access to the ignition switch. Remember that all instrument panel connectors must not be lowered to metal surface body, since open contacts may close. It is better to immediately wrap these connectors with electrical tape.

3. Before installing the alarm, it is recommended to additionally wrap all its wires with electrical tape. This procedure will create an imitation of standard wiring and provide double insulation.

4. Connect the alarm outputs to the turn signals or parking lights, to the engine start control and to the door open indicator lamp. If the car has an optocoupler panel, then only turn signals can be connected, and all other signals will come in in electronic format to the panel. To connect, you need to find the necessary wires using a multimeter. To do this, you must have basic knowledge of electronics and basic knowledge of the structure of a car. Remember, you can always refer to the vehicle's operating instructions.

5. Connect to the central locking system. To do this, you need to find the relay that is responsible for turning on the lock.

6. Check the quality of the connection, wrap the alarm with foam rubber, use adhesive tape to securely fasten it and screw the dismantled panels into place (after removing the electrical tape from their contacts).

7. Configure installed security system according to your needs, check its functionality and correctness.

Important!When connecting wires, you can use special clamps from the alarm kit. But, if an attacker opens the alarm, he will immediately see where to cut the wiring so that the siren stops. So for greater protection, we recommend using a knife and a lighter to connect the wires.
