Bread top dressing for cucumbers: how to cook. The use of ordinary black bread as a top dressing for tomatoes Fertilizer from dry bread

At improper storage in a tightly sealed container, the bread suffocates, becomes moldy. When preparing kvass, filtered bread waste at first glance is also no good. Meanwhile, this grain waste can be successfully used in your garden as fertilizer. The carbohydrate-rich mass is saturated with compounds that are easily accessible and digestible by plant roots. Perhaps someone will be indignant: "What blasphemy - to bury bread in the ground!" Yes, sacrilege when we allow bread to grow moldy, and if this happens, then it is better to use it for the benefit of the future harvest.

You can prepare a nutrient fertilizer for gardening horticultural crops in the following way: pour bread waste into a tank, pour water, cover with a lid and let it sour in a warm place for 10-12 days. Dilute the fermented mass 2-3 times with water and use this nutritious broth to feed garden crops. The result will not keep you waiting. The harvest will grow by leaps and bounds.

Valuable quality of fertilizer from bread

There is another curious use of bread scraps. It turns out that weak 3-6% alcohol solutions, such as fermented grain mass, are an excellent stimulant for the germination of dormant weed seeds. Having harvested from the ridges, loosen the soil, removing weeds and their rhizomes, and quickly spread your “braga” over the freshly loosened surface and cover with a film. This must be done before the onset of cold weather, about a month. Alcohol vapors, heat, moisture will awaken a mass of weed seeds to growth, seedlings will go together. The coming cold will complete the work begun. All this can be repeated in the spring, as soon as the snow melts. Rest assured, you will greatly facilitate your thankless task of weed control. Remember, this should be done only on the beds, without touching trunk circles garden trees, because they, on the contrary, need a powerful sod layer to retain moisture and a microenvironment that supplies nutrition to the roots.

Every vegetable grower dreams of increasing the yield of his plants in the beds by any means, by finding new recipes for top dressing for green spaces or using old, time-tested methods. In the garden, everything that is on the farm is used. Among others, fertilizers from any bread for plants are used as cheap and effective top dressing.

Bread as fertilizer

Its main value is the presence of yeast. These are microscopic fungi that can work in the soil, improving its structure. In addition, within useful product other nutrients and mineral components.

Fertilizer from bread provides the following benefits:

  • increased plant growth;
  • the volume of the root system increases;
  • the number of flowers and ovaries increases;
  • fruits are the best palatability;
  • improved survival in winter period;
  • increases plant immunity.

There are options for yeast fertilizers, but you still need to look for soft packs with live fungi, and bread is always at hand. Use any variety: black, white or rye. You can use old or moldy pieces that are no longer suitable for eating.

A week after application, the result is noticeable: vegetables become strong, fleshy, gain weight and saturated color. It is best to feed them in the spring during planting seedlings in open ground. Yeasts begin their useful activity only in warm soil.

The disadvantages of bread nutrition include the active absorption of calcium during the fermentation process. Due to this, the soil becomes acidic, additional application of wood ash or eggshell.

Which plants are suitable for bread feeding

You can use it as a top dressing for most, but not all vegetable, berry or flower crops. From vegetables, yeast lovers include cucumbers, tomatoes, eggplants, potatoes. Among the berries, strawberries and strawberries are responsive to bread delicacy. In the flower menu, it is appreciated by spray roses, gladioli, peonies, chrysanthemums. Do not refuse the "yeast delicacy" and indoor flowers.

When making a grain top dressing for plants, remember:

  • redundant and frequent watering infusion is harmful;
  • should not be used on diseased or weakened cultures;
  • plan rare applications when planting in the shade;
  • feed seedlings and young shoots moderately.

When planning plant nutrition during the season, you need to take into account the development phase of garden crops. On the early stages nitrogen and grain nutrition are useful for growth, additional potassium and phosphorus will not hurt during flowering, yeast is ideal when fruits and seeds ripen.

Such a tincture will not harm plants when applied in high concentration, so it is not necessary to accurately measure required amount components. You can not only irrigate under the root, but also spray vegetable or berry crops.

cucumbers

Bread fertilizer is most useful to apply during flowering and ovary, when the root system needs additional nutrition for the formation of fruits. Bread in the form of top dressing is applied every 15-20 days. It is advisable to add ash at the same time and at certain intervals - other organic fertilizers for a greater effect. A fermented bread composition prepared according to classic recipe.

Tomatoes

For tomatoes, this fertilizer is used in a slightly different way, since root system nightshade may not withstand strong tinctures. Use the following recipe:

  • the bucket is filled 2/3 of the volume with bread and nettles,
  • pour to the top warm water and keep under pressure;
  • prepare the infusion for a week and filter;
  • diluted at the rate of 2 liters of sourdough in a bucket of water.

It is necessary to water with such an infusion during the flowering of tomatoes, then 2 more times during the fruiting period. Thanks to fertilizing with yeast bread, tomatoes do not get sick so often, they form few fatty shoots, and give healthy fruits.

Flowers

Fertilizer for flower vegetation is prepared according to the general recipe. The resulting composition is diluted in a ratio of 1:10. For flowers, bread is used as a top dressing infrequently: the first time in the spring for growth and set of leaf mass, and then during their flowering period. Flowers with a large vegetative mass respond well to it.

The composition can be enriched with various components, adding grass, tree leaves, hops, potato tops, nettles during cooking. This will complement the infusion useful elements nutrition.

Bread infusion not only nourishes, it is able to protect berry crops from rot. If a similar problem occurs on strawberries, it is watered under the root with a solution, diluting the concentrated composition in 5 liters of water.

cooking recipes

It is not difficult to prepare an infusion from bread, because you do not need to accurately measure the amount of ingredients. Water is taken from the calculation of prepared crackers, a stale or moldy product. Even if the concentration is higher than normal, the plants will not suffer. You can make fertilizer from bread according to the following recipe:

  1. Grind bread or crackers into cubes up to 1-2 cm. It is better to prepare fertilizer from black (rye), but other options are also suitable.
  2. Crackers must be soaked in water so that they are completely covered.
  3. Close the lid under the load so that the bread lumps do not float to the surface.
  4. For greater benefit, you can add weeds, nettles or other greens to the composition.
  5. The infusion is prepared for a week until the fermentation process has passed.

The container is installed in a remote place, since during the preparation of the "yeast treat" bad smell. You need to place it in the shade, but in a warm place for more intense fermentation.

Fertilizer from bread really accelerates plant growth and increases fruiting. For any crops, you can use the main recipe, adding additional components from various vegetation. Nutrition from bread is absolutely harmless for both plants and people.

We are used to organic fertilizers mean standard and well-known: compost, manure, peat, humus, litter, green manure ... But some food products can sometimes act as an excellent fertilizer. For example, the most common yeast bread. After all, many simply throw out its remnants. Do you know how much benefit it can bring to the garden and garden?

This cottage secret I inherited from my grandmother (in the villages, nothing was thrown away just like that before). But I also came across similar information more than once on the Internet, which once again confirms the effectiveness of using bread for plant nutrition.

But I started digging on the Internet rather than to confirm my grandmother's recipe by other people (we ourselves see the effectiveness of the method in our garden very well), but all the same, to understand the mechanism of how it works. It turned out that…

It's all about the yeast.

Yeast plays a key role in bread feeding. As it turned out, yeast is also included in almost all growth stimulants sold as an active ingredient. They carry a whole bouquet useful substances and microelements, actively influence the formation and development of the root system of the plant.

In principle, part of my grandmother's recipe can even be replaced with yeast infusion.

That's just the yeast you need to buy, moreover, natural and high-quality, which are not yet sold in any store. And grain residues accumulate decently over the winter.

What to feed with bread?

Yes, almost everything you need active growth from seedlings to mature plants. It's the same natural stimulant. It will benefit both flowers and vegetable crops(we feed peppers, tomatoes, eggplants, cucumbers), as well as strawberries.

Bread recipe.

The remains of yeast bread collected during the winter period are placed in a container and poured with water (so that it covers the volume of bread). We cover the container tightly with a lid and put a weight so that the bread does not float. Let it ferment in the heat for about a week. Then we dilute a little with water and pour the plant under the root with a solution.

Worth considering…

First, of course, as in any business, with bread dressings you shouldn't overdo it. They primarily affect growth. Therefore, make them only when the plant needs growth most of all.

It is good to combine bread top dressing with the introduction of ash, since a lot of calcium is absorbed during fermentation, ash makes up for this balance (read about using ash as a fertilizer).

I also want to note the rather unpleasant smell of this fertilizer. Although, this disadvantage can be attributed not only to bread sourdough, but also to many other organic fertilizers.

Many gardeners, despite the abundance chemicals, prefer to use for dressing tomatoes and cucumbers folk remedies. Nutrient solutions based on bread, which is in every family, are especially popular among summer residents. Valuable fertilizer can be made from any bread waste: crackers, crusts, even moldy pieces.

When and why you need bread top dressing

Bread is used as a fertilizer due to the yeast base. It is yeast, rich in proteins, amino acids, trace elements and vitamins, that act as a biostimulant. Bread sourdough contains yeast that activates beneficial soil bacteria while neutralizing pathogens. As a result, organic matter is processed faster, plants absorb nutrients better. In addition, yeast fungi secrete substances that accelerate the process of root formation.

Benefits of bread feed

This supplement is especially useful in initial period development, contributing to the saturation of young shoots with carbohydrates and oxygen. Seedlings are actively developing, quickly forming green above-ground part and strong root system. Weak, retarded sprouts are restored. Plants tolerate stress more easily after picking and transplanting into the ground.

Feeding pickled tomatoes with bread promotes rapid recovery after stress

Fertilizing with bread also has a beneficial effect on adult plants:

You can use any bread - black, gray, white. Rye bread, especially made from whole grain flour, ferments better, and also contains more proteins, vitamins and minerals than wheat.

For the preparation of fertilizer, both white and black bread are suitable.

Top dressing from black bread contributes to the acidification of the soil, so I combine watering with bread solution with the addition of ash (200 g / m 2). wood ash also saturates the soil with potassium and calcium, which are actively absorbed by the action of yeast fungi.

When is the best time to feed vegetables with bread?

When growing vegetables on fertilized soil, it is enough to feed them with bread three times a season. The first feeding can be carried out in the seedling period, a week after picking. This will allow the plants to transfer the transplant less painfully. The second time grain fertilizer is applied a week after planting the seedlings on the beds, which contributes to better rooting and growth of green mass. Bread sourdough, especially enriched with additional components - iodine, ash, will protect cucumbers from gray rot, and tomatoes from late blight, brown spot. Another top dressing is carried out when the buds appear.

Top dressing of tomatoes before flowering contributes to the mass appearance of buds

If the soil is poor, you can increase the amount of top dressing, taking breaks of 10 days. However, after the appearance of fruits, it is better not to feed the tomatoes with bread, so as not to cause excessive growth of foliage to the detriment of fruiting. But such top dressing will benefit cucumbers - productivity and fruiting period will increase significantly.

With the help of grain fertilizer, you can significantly increase the fruiting period.

Bread sourdough should be applied to well-warmed soil, because yeast fungi are active only in a warm environment.

Recipes and schemes for applying bread top dressing

Fertilizer can be made from fresh bread or crackers. Only warm (+20–26°C) water should be used for sourdough.

Bread recipes:

  • Black bread is cut into cubes and the bucket is half filled. Then water is poured so that it only covers the bread. A plate is placed on top and pressed down with a load. Insist for a week, then filter and dilute 1:3. For watering young plants, 0.5 liters of liquid are consumed, for adults - 1–2 liters.

    Concentrated bread infusion diluted with water

  • 1 kg of rye and wheat crackers and 1 glass of egg shells, previously ground into powder, are soaked in 10 liters of water. A day later, add 10 drops of iodine and 5 liters of water. For irrigation, the liquid is diluted with water 1:5 (1 liter per bush), for spraying, a less concentrated composition (1:8) is used. Such a solution not only stimulates the growth of plants, but also nourishes them with calcium, iodine, and protects against diseases.

    Bread solution with iodine will protect plants from fungal diseases

  • A barrel with a volume of 200 liters is filled 2/3 with nettles, 2 loaves of black bread cut into pieces are added and yeast sourdough from 10 g of dry yeast, 3 tbsp. tablespoons of sugar, 1 liter of water, infused for an hour. Fill the container with water and leave for 5-7 days. The filtered liquid is diluted with water 1:8 and used for root or leaf top dressing (1-2 l \ bush). Fertilizer from bread with nettle, rich in nitrogen, is especially useful for plants in the initial period of development. Thanks to the herbal component containing formic acid, spraying with infusion will help relieve vegetable plantings from aphids.

    Top dressing with bread allows you to get a rich harvest of tomatoes and cucumbers. The product that every summer resident has on the table may well become an alternative to expensive fertilizers. Bread sourdough stimulates plant growth, improves the quality of vegetables and increases the fruiting period.
