Means for sanitary processing of coolers. Sanitizing the cooler (full instructions)

Cleaning the water cooler is a set of preventive measures, including cleaning and disinfection of internal and external parts of the cooler with special certified disinfectants.

Why does our favorite water have an unpleasant smell or taste?

  • If, without washing our hands, we take the cork of the bottle with dirty hands, then through the water inlet nest, bacteria enter the storage tank of the water cooler. There they create entire colonies, which is why mucus is formed and the water deteriorates.
  • If we do not remove the sticker from the bottle cap, pieces of paper and film fall into the cooler and into the bottle. There is a blockage in the pipes and valves and, as a result, the cooler overheats and expensive electronic components fail. Not to mention the bacteria that, along with the paper, get into the cooler and the bottle.

In drinking water in without fail there are mineral salts necessary for a person. But when heated, they form scale on the heating element. The cooler starts to heat the water worse and then the heating element burns out. Minerals, settling on silicone and plastic tubes, valves, sealing elements, etc., cause them to coarsen, as a result of which the faucets begin to drip, the pipes may leak. In a glass of boiling water, a precipitate or film may form, not to mention the specific taste of water.

Water coolers are now installed in all offices and government agencies. People who care about their health install water machines at home too - fortunately, the choice of coolers today is incredibly huge. And if office coolers are usually taken to specialized companies for cleaning, then home ones can be cleaned on their own. Any water cooler should be cleaned at least once a month - this way you can avoid the "overgrowth" of pipes and faucets.

First of all, disconnect the cooler from the power supply. Then wipe its body with a damp cloth. Remove the drip tray and all detachable parts. Soak them in a solution of regular dishwashing detergent. Drain the cold and hot water from the cooler into any suitable container. Drain the remaining water in the system by opening the plug in the water drain valve (it can be located in front or behind the bottom of the cooler case). Remove the butelepreceiver by turning it clockwise. Soak in dishwashing detergent solution.

Prepare a cleaning solution of 100 grams citric acid and 5 liters of water. Slowly pour the prepared composition into the water container - make sure that the water has time to go inside the cooler. Check if the water tanks are completely filled by unscrewing the hot and cold water taps one by one. If the tanks are full, then water from the faucets will flow in a continuous stream. Close both faucets and plug the cooler into an outlet. Set the hot water switch to the "On" position. After the cooler is automatically turned off (the water will heat up), turn the switch to the “Off” position and disconnect the cooler from the power supply. Leave the heated water with citric acid in the cooler for 5-6 hours. Then drain it through the faucets, and the rest through the open plug in the water drain valve. Fill the cooler with now clean water and again drain all of it as described above. Assemble the cooler in the reverse order, after washing all the removed parts.

A cooler is a multifunctional water device that both heats water and cools it. Timely washing will increase its service life and allow you to enjoy clean water for a long time.

During the operation of the cooler, its internal components are gradually contaminated. In this case, plaque appears, which negatively affects the quality of water, because it contributes to an increase in the activity of harmful microorganisms. If you are puzzled in time by the question of how to clean the water cooler yourself, you can avoid many health problems in the future, because the liquid used must be clean, without foreign impurities, suspensions, pathogenic bacteria. In order not to have to regularly invite the master, you can learn how to remove contaminants.

Major Contributing Factors to Pollution drinking water and increase the likelihood of developing diseases:

  • harmful particles get into the cooler, which begin to actively multiply in a favorable environment (acceptable liquid temperature), which leads to the formation of plaque inside on the walls of the device;
  • given that one of the functions of the cooler is heating, we can expect scale formation on the surface heating element which reduces water quality;
  • Bacteria can also be found outside: on faucets, buttons, front panel, drip tray, from where harmful microorganisms penetrate into human body along with liquid
  • there may be algae spores in the water, which is a consequence of poor-quality water purification, as a result, the liquid begins to “bloom” - acquires green tint, a coating of the corresponding color remains on the internal surfaces of the device.

Important: If the equipment is not cared for, mold will develop on the internal surfaces of the equipment over time, which can become a serious health hazard.

If the water in the cooler has acquired a greenish tint or the flow has become smaller, you need to rinse the device from plaque as soon as possible

Cleaning is carried out regularly when changing the water manufacturer. In addition, it is necessary to clean the device after a long period of inactivity, as well as after repair work. If the device is used regularly, the dirt should be removed often enough. The manufacturer of such equipment recommends flushing once every 6 months. However, it is better to do it even more often, for example, monthly or every 3 months. As a result, the likelihood of developing complex pollution. These recommendations are suitable for any brand of equipment: Bosch, Family, etc.

What will be needed?

If the question is being decided how to rinse the water cooler at home, you should prepare the necessary cleaning products. For self-fulfillment work will be needed:

  • dishwashing liquid or liquid soap;
  • a water tank designed for a large volume of liquid;
  • hard bristled brush, water brush;
  • sponge;
  • rubber gloves;
  • paper towels;
  • cleaning agent;
  • mat that will not absorb moisture.

Instructions for cleaning the cooler

If you plan to remove pollution with your own hands, preparation should be made. Several important steps:

  1. The device is disconnected from the mains.
  2. Take off the bottle.
  3. Then you need to drain the water from the cooler (do not forget to wait for the hot water in the device to cool down). To remove the bulk of the liquid, taps are used. The remaining liquid is drained by opening the plug from the valve, which can be located in the lower or side of the housing (depending on the model). Additionally, the cooler is tilted in different directions, which will remove the last drops of water.
  4. Dismantle all removable elements. First of all, you need to disconnect the drip tray, then the taps. Package contents may depend on the cooler model.
  5. Evaluate the complexity of the hull design. In some varieties of such devices, for further dismantling, it is necessary to prepare a screwdriver.

Important: If you will be cleaning the water cooler with your own hands, you need to remember that the removable structural elements of the device should only be cleaned manually. Use related equipment for this (steam generator, dishwasher) it is forbidden.

Cooler elements before flushing

Further work produced in stages:

  1. Cleaning and disinfection.
  2. Scale removal.
  3. Rinsing.

We need to act consistently. If you skip one of the steps, you will not be able to achieve the required water quality. In addition, in the near future, pollution is formed again, after which it will be more difficult to remove them.

Cleaning and disinfection

To clean the cooler yourself, you need to place it on a waterproof mat. So it will be much more convenient to do the work. First, the outer surfaces are cleaned. To do this, you can use a damp sponge and detergent.

Improvised means for removing plaque and scale in the cooler

Then follow the instructions:

  1. Prepare a disinfectant solution. Acid fights harmful particles and bacterial plaque well. However, aggressive chemical solutions should not be used. Nessesary to use special composition which can be purchased in stores. It is permissible to use a self-prepared remedy. Often use citric acid (100 g) and clean water(5 l).
  2. With the help of a solution, all internal components, removable parts are cleaned. To do this, use a water brush, which will allow you to get to hard-to-reach places. At this stage, it is important to clean all contaminated areas.
  3. The disinfectant solution is poured into the water tank, for which it is necessary to dismantle the bottle receiver by turning it counterclockwise. You have to wait until the tank is full. This can be checked by opening the cold and hot water taps alternately. When the tank is full, the jet of water will flow continuously.
  4. In this state, the device is left for 5-10 minutes, connected to the network. As a result, when the liquid is heated, the remaining contaminants are removed faster.
  5. Then the device is disconnected from the network, the solution is drained. The procedure is repeated 1-2 more times.

An alternative cleaning option consists in a longer contact of the disinfectant with contaminated surfaces: the liquid is left in the cooler for 5-6 hours. After that, they are drained and proceed to the next stage of work.

After disinfection, the cooler should be thoroughly rinsed several times with clean water.

Descaling

use different methods. The choice of method for removing scale deposits is made taking into account the degree of contamination. internal surfaces. In mild cases, light plaque can be removed by the citric acid-based disinfectant solution discussed above. Vinegar is more aggressive. It also needs to be mixed with water. The resulting solution is treated with internal surfaces. Sequencing:

  • the liquid is left in the tank for 15 minutes;
  • the device is connected to the mains, it is necessary to wait for the solution to boil;
  • after 5 hours, the liquid is drained through the taps.

There is also a more aggressive method of descaling. It is used to clean the cooler from the most difficult contaminants. Required to purchase special agent to remove scale inside kettles (for example, Antinakipin or others). The powder is diluted with a sufficient amount of water (according to the manufacturer's instructions). The resulting solution is poured into the cooler. Then they connect to the network. After the agent boils, it must be left for 20 minutes inside the device. After that, the liquid is drained.

Chemicals help even in advanced cases

It must be remembered that it is not always possible to get rid of scale. IN difficult cases when it reaches the fan, it is not possible to clean the cooler. This reduces not only the quality of the water, but also the functionality of the device.

Rinsing

After all the manipulations described above, it is required to clean the device from residues of dirt, traces chemical substances. To do this, rinse the internal surfaces of the device with clean water. Sequencing:

  • clean water is poured into the water tank of the cooler;
  • connect to the mains, boil;
  • leave for a while (from 20 minutes to several hours);
  • drained through the cooler taps.

Do not forget to flush all the components of the cooler

The actions are repeated 2-3 more times, which will completely remove traces of chemical solutions that were used for cleaning. The more aggressive the disinfectant used, the more intensively the device is flushed from the inside. After that, you can install the device in place. The bottle is placed on top.

Prevention

The main rule in the operation of the cooler is regular cleaning of external and internal surfaces. Due to this, the likelihood of scale build-up, complex contamination is reduced, water quality does not suffer, it becomes possible to avoid the formation of mold inside the cooler, as well as bad smell.

Change palatability water is one of the main signs of contamination of the cooler system

Other Tips:

  • external components (faucets, drip receiver, front panel and bottle connection ring) are cleaned more often, because they are in intensive use, if traces of dirt are regularly removed from them, the intensity of plaque formation on internal surfaces decreases;
  • you should not undertake to clean the device yourself if you are not sure that it will be possible to assemble it after dismantling;
  • it is possible to clean the cooler only after all structural elements have completely cooled down;
  • before installing the bottle, you need to clean its neck, as well as the needle of the device with alcohol wipes. Additionally wipe side surfaces water tanks, first remove the protective polyethylene;
  • before installing the bottle, you must wash your hands, because there is a possibility that pathogenic microbes can get into the water from the outer covers;
  • it is forbidden to completely immerse the cooler in any liquids to speed up cleaning, as this may damage the conductive structural elements;
  • steam generators and other equipment, the principle of operation of which is based on increased pressure and extreme temperatures, cannot be used to remove contaminants;
  • do not use aggressive substances to clean the cooler, these include gasoline, kerosene, acetone, Domestos, etc.
