This work is devoted to the topical issue of innovative materials in environmental design and their correct application. Today, the pace of technology development is growing every day. The main and main driver of innovation is the development of materials that would increase performance and functionality. But they change so quickly that architects and designers do not have time to keep up with it, but on the other hand, new materials help to bring the most unthinkable projects to life. At the moment, there are many options for choosing materials for designers, it is important to understand that trends are changing, and some materials need to be replaced with new ones that are more environmentally friendly, economical, and easy to use. The article names and analyzes specific examples of the use of new materials in environmental design, which makes it possible to better understand what trends should be modern design, because even from the most inconspicuous interior geometry you can create a unique expressive and cozy atmosphere, using appropriate modern Construction Materials. Our world is full of colors, everything around is constantly changing, a new perception of beauty and taste is born, in this regard, the best designers from all over the world are constantly inventing something new, non-standard and interesting. With such a rapid growth of new technologies, and due to the emergence of better and cheaper materials, designers are born with original ideas that lead to interesting design projects.

Today, all spheres and branches of construction are developing at a tremendous speed. Newbuilding materials in the interiorthat replace the outdated ones. We sometimes do not even realize that this or that material can turn into a futuristic table or an original lamp.

For interior decoration houses or apartments are provided with such a huge amount of modern materials that it is sometimes very difficult to make a choice, for this we will consider the most popular of them. All presented materials differ in their pricing policy, various properties. Sometimes, the quality of inexpensive modern materials is not inferior to expensive counterparts. The development of new materials that increase productivity and increase their functionality has become a major driver of innovation in recent years.

According to the document Industrial Technologies arm of the Research and Innovation department of the European Commission, up to 70% of all innovations in the field of architecture and design are connected, one way or another, with raw materials and substances that have updated or improved properties.

Methacryl

An innovative material that came to design at the beginning of the millennium to help plastic, due to its properties, unlimited colors and great machining possibilities, has won its place in the design world. Polymethyl methacrylate (methacryl, PMMA) is a solid, transparent, lightweight, thermoplastic material. Methacrylic sheets are obtained from granules, which may be transparent, colored or colorless during processing; light-scattering, smoky or translucent; with a relief or granular surface; with a glossy, matte or non-reflective surface. The color range is almost unlimited. The material is aging resistant. Today, designers, without holding back a flight of fancy, can create the most intricate shapes with this lightweight plastic.

Advantages of methacryl in comparison with silicate glass: high transparency; good mechanical strength, rigidity; weather resistance; possibility of mechanical heat treatment.

All these advantages make it possible to widely use methacryl in the implementation construction projects, design ideas, in the manufacture of advertising products and structures, furniture.

Plexiglass

Plexiglas (also called transparent acrylic glass) - originally used in construction, later became a textbook model for "space" design in the 60s. Then the first invisible chairs, the Acrilica lamp, were presented to the world.

Today, the tradition continues to develop. What is the prototype of Zaha Hadid's "liquid" table, which is made of transparent and translucent acrylic glass. The first impression is deceptive, so take a closer look at this object - the countertop is perfectly flat. Unprecedented visual lightness, imitation of melting ice and enchanting water cycle are so realistic that thoughts are transported to an unprecedented mysterious world.

This colorless transparent plastic is widely used in the automotive and aviation industries as a replacement for fragile glass. Plexiglas is quite often chosen as a material for countertops. In this case, an interesting table base is in full view. Plexiglas is incredibly similar to its prototype, because it is also transparent and seems very fragile. This material is so strong that it is even suitable for making stair railings. And in this case, the interior only benefits from the unobtrusiveness and lightness of transparent structures.

Carbon fiber

Expensive material, consisting of carbon atoms united in crystals and aligned parallel to the longitudinal axis of the fiber, with its ultra-lightness, demonstrates super strength and super rigidity, as well as high resistance to chemical, climatic and thermal effects. As a rule, carbon fibers are woven into a longitudinal-transverse or diagonal weave, which is inherent in the flexibility of ordinary dense fabric and which allows you to create the most unusual and ornate configurations of objects and structures in terms of structure. The material is often combined with fiberglass or polymers, which together give a spectacular glossy texture.

Of the fundamentally new structural typologies that have emerged over the past decade and generated by the intrusion of carbon fiber into everyday life, it should be noted the formation of volume using lace weave, which, for example, was used in his experimental project by South Korean designer Il Hoon Roh .

Hungarian company LaokoonDdesign, founded by designer Zsuzsanna Szentirmai-Joly, creates sculptural lamps following the aesthetics of fashion structuralism. Designers believed that in combining art and materials, design and innovation, and the continuous improvement of "constructive textiles", advances in design could be achieved. Therefore, the possibilities of a new material are constantly being explored, thanks to which lighting objects were born.

Innovative textile - a moving structure that can also be created from paper, leather, metal, wood, cork, many types of plastics. The main criteria for this material is a certain strength and at the same time ductility.

wood-skin

It is an innovative architectural material that combines the rigidity of traditional building materials with the flexibility of textiles. This allows you to create spectacular facades, create unique wall panels and unusual functional structures. According to the structure, the material consists of triangular plywood modules, glued together with a layer of durable high-tech textiles. Such sandwich panels are produced in standard versions: 2500cm x 1250cm, 3050cm x 1525cm or made to order for a specific architectural project, which uses oversized solutions. The dimensions of the basic triangular fragment, as well as its configuration, vary depending on the wishes of the customer, and the technically permissible thickness of the plywood lining ranges from 4 to 30 mm. As an external decorative component, Finnish birch plywood, moisture-resistant okume plywood, MDF, refractory MDF, particle board OSB, as well as metal, ceramic, marble and HPL plastic panels. The Wood-Skin finishing palette includes various types of laminate, veneer, lacquer, drying oil, ornamental decor (on request), acoustic perforation. Spotlights and various communication cables can also be integrated into the skin. Panels are fastened with built-in hooks and tension cables.

The most spectacular completed project by the Milanese company Wood-Skin S.r.l., founded by a group of Italian designers in 2013, was the wall decoration at the Reign restaurant in Dubai, where a wooden tectonic "relief" decorates the walls of the dining room.

Polymer Cocoon

Initially, this polymer was created for the construction and protection of goods during transportation, but there were some experiments with the use of Cocoon in the design. In particular, in the 1960s, the Flos factory used it in the manufacture of Taraxacum lamps, and in 2005 Marcel Wanders created the Zeppelin chandelier using the same technology.

Corian

They can be given any shape to decorate difficult areas and create an unforgettable impression. Due to the transparency of certain colors, backlighting can be used to enhance the visual effect. Synthetic resins

In interior design, various materials with their own characteristics are used, and everyone can bring their own flavor to any interior.

Epoxy resins have increased mechanical and chemical resistance, are resistant to moisture and temperature changes. They are used in almost all areas of construction - these are adhesives, varnishes, sheets and much more.

The main advantage of the material is that it can be given any shape due to fluidity in the liquid state and good plasticity during curing. In the solid state, the material is well processed, but cracks also appear on it, which is noticeable, although the wear resistance is very high. Furniture made from this material is quite expensive - that's why it appears in exclusive design solutions. The most expensive brands are those with the highest degree of transparency. A serious disadvantage is toxicity - when working with synthetic resin, it is necessary to carry out work in well-ventilated areas and in means that protect the respiratory tract - respirators.

"Blooming" wallpaper

Such "clothing for the walls" is commonly called thermal wallpaper. The highlight of the novelty is that as the temperature in the room rises, the image on the wallpaper changes.

For example, a completely traditional pattern in the form of green shoots with tiny buds, purchased in a store, does not manifest itself in cold air, remaining the same ordinary. For example, interesting solutions have appeared on the market that are ready to replace the usual heating radiators with a “warm baseboard”. “Warm plinth” (14 cm high and 3 cm wide), and, according to Alexander Vasiliev, the head of the company that distributes this product, the plinth does not dry the air, evenly distributes the temperature, does not raise dust, creating a healthy microclimate in the room, eliminating premises from such side effects like "weeping windows", fungus and mold.

Those designers who have already used a warm plinth in the interiors of houses and apartments confirm its advantages. Interior designer Elena Tikhonova:

As we can see, the finishing market is growing, surprising us with new and new solutions. According to practitioners, attention should be paid to domestic manufacturers, which are beginning to offer solutions that are in no way inferior to Western counterparts.

It is generally accepted that innovation is the main engine of the current success of any enterprise. The concept of "innovation" means: "change, change, renewal, introduction of the new"18. And indeed, our whole world, in essence, is constantly in the process of continuous change and renewal. Industry looks to the process of innovation as a driver of development and prosperity. Often the terms "design" and "innovation"

used as interdependent. Perhaps because both have a certain degree of ambiguity, are used in a broad sense and are synonymous with the concept of creativity19. In fact, the connection between design and innovation is not so simple, and therefore, in order to understand it, it is necessary to clarify the meaning of each of the terms.
Since the innovation process means change, innovation can take place in any context. West and Farr, in their book on innovation at work, define it as: “the intentional introduction and application within the activities of a person, group, or organization of new ideas, processes, products, or procedures designed to bring significant benefit to a person, group, organization or society." Thus, in the production context, it is fair to speak, for example, about process innovations, managerial, market, technological innovations, etc.
Previously, all of these types were classified as industrial technological innovations. Freeman defines innovation as a process that consists of the technological, design, manufacturing, managerial, and commercial activities required to bring a new (or improved) product to market or to introduce a new (or improved) product. production process or equipment (Figure 2.2)21.
Many definitions of innovation indicate a close relationship between innovation and the product development process. Figure 2.3 illustrates how different types of innovation can occur at different stages in the development of a new product. Jones

distinguishes two types of innovation - revolutionary and phased22. Incremental (otherwise - low innovation) level means the gradual improvement of the product through a series of steps or development various options one product. Revolutionary (radical) innovations are leaps or significant changes, often requiring concomitant major changes in the organization itself or in its work in order to adapt it for successful implementation of innovations23. Thus, disruptive or incremental innovations can impact every step of the product design and development process.
Often, the design process plays a central role in the process of product or technology innovation, and also contributes to process or market innovation. Thus, since the designers of Philips and other companies use this invention in the process of product design and development, it will only lead to product innovation. By developing possible uses for this material, designers can contribute to market or manufacturing process innovations, such as developing new ways to produce existing products.
The concept of design as a central element of technology. logical innovation can be illustrated by analogy with the version proposed by Roy and Bruce in the model showing the role of design and development (Fig. 2.4). The range of application of design in organizations and the development of new products is much wider than is commonly believed. The book Winning by Design argues that while inventions and innovations involve technical progress existing state of the art in a particular field, the outcome of the design process is usually the creation of variants within that state of the art. “Sometimes design does not lead to technological changes at all, but simply to the appearance of a product with new characteristics - a different shape, in a different style, with a different pattern or finish, for example“ new design chair or car body shape”25.

In this way, design and innovation complement each other: design is not only central element technological and product innovation, but also has an even broader impact on the product. On the other hand, the coverage of management areas in which innovations can be applied is much wider. In fact, design and innovation together are the driving force behind any successful enterprise (Figure 2.5). We are all well aware of examples of this interaction: the Dyson cyclonic vacuum cleaner (James Dyson, 1980s), [Mae (Jonathan Ivey, 1998), the first steel tube chair (Mies van der Rohe, 1930), a map of London underground (Henry Beck, 1933). We can say that this interaction of innovation leads to the creation of new value through the birth of new products.
Brand Experience Design
As discussed earlier in this chapter, design contributes to both price and non-price factors. Indeed, more and more often we are seeing trends that show that competition between companies is based on non-price factors - before

Over the past 50 years, the importance of corporate image and identity has been repeatedly emphasized, and the first defined corporate identity was developed by Peter Veren for AEG (1907-1914) (Fig. 2.b)28. In our time, a lot of work on the development of the theory of corporate identity / image / individuality has been done by designer Wally Olins, who has published a whole series of publications on this topic over the past 20 years.
