Why does the Astra gas column not light up? How to use a geyser: new and old.

The Astra gas water heater has long been heard by the Russian consumer. These inexpensive and functional devices that heat water in the homes of Russians effectively convert an inexpensive energy resource into heat. Preferring a gas water heater to a boiler, homeowners rely on the efficiency of blue fuel, so it is not surprising that Astra, simple in design and affordable, is a success.

Manufacturer of gas water heaters "Astra" - Russian company"Heat exchanger". This powerful enterprise is located in Nizhny Novgorod, and has been engaged in high-tech production for 60 years. More than 50% of its products belong to the aviation industry, and water heaters make up only a fifth of the products manufactured by this giant. Speakers produced by the factory work only on natural gas. The products of combustion are removed through the chimney. The company previously produced KG water heaters, today they are obsolete, and the plant offers Russian consumers more modern versions - economical, with high efficiency, durable and safe.

Why are gas water heaters popular?

It’s good when hot water flows from the tap “by itself” in the apartment, but some residents talk about this apartment buildings can only dream. The deplorable state of housing and communal services networks forces Russians to independently solve the problem of hot water supply, choosing between a boiler and a column. If gas is not connected to the house, there are no questions - you have to buy a boiler, if you have blue fuel, it turns out to be a more profitable option gas apparatus. The offered models differ in power and performance. The maximum value is 20 kW. By moderately consuming gas, they save money for their owners. average price- 9,000 rubles. Chimney diameter - up to 12 cm.

Why are Astra Group of Companies good?

The Nizhny Novgorod enterprise offers not one or two modifications of gas-fired water heaters, but a whole the lineup, which presents the columns different power and productivity. All gas heaters can be divided into two groups:

  • Flowing. They heat water constantly. They are more compact, they can be placed in tight spaces.
  • Cumulative. They heat a certain volume of water - 50-500 liters. This option is selected based on the needs of the family.

Advantages of Astra products:

  • Made in Russia. They are therefore inexpensive, and they can really be repaired. If it breaks, you can always find a suitable spare part and fix it.
  • The heating tank has a heat-insulating layer, so the heated water does not cool down for a long time - resources are saved.
  • Simple design - you can easily understand everything. Reliable device - tested by consumers. Easy to figure out how to use the device.
  • There is nothing superfluous, no “functionality”, it just heats the water. This has a positive effect on the price.
  • Good performance - up to 12 liters per minute. This is enough for two points of water intake.
  • Security. The machine turns off the device in the absence of traction, when the water supply and in the absence of a flame.

What are the most popular models?

Consumers are happy to express their emotions about domestic technology, mentally accustomed to scolding everything that is made in Russia. When discussing Nizhny Novgorod gas water heaters, one must be objective and take into account the realities of domestic consumption. Any equipment is prone to wear and cannot work at full capacity for a long time: breakdowns and malfunctions are a common thing for equipment dealing with different types resources. Among consumers, the GK models received the greatest recognition:

  • Astra 8910-10 - has become the No. 1 choice for extreme simplicity and low cost. Estimated cost is 5,000 rubles.
  • JSD20-10A. Consumers are attracted by electronic ignition and the absence of an ever-burning wick.

If the water heater is broken

Before starting the repair of gas water heaters - regardless of the type of breakdown, you need to block the gas supply. The device itself can not be removed - all structural details are accessible without dismantling. But the “facade” - the front cover of the heater, must be removed by unscrewing the side bolts with a screwdriver. First you need to inspect the heat exchanger - it is located behind the electrode, fixed with four bolts. Unscrewing the heat exchanger is not recommended.

When repairing the components of the device, the main thing is not to touch the fitting - this element is needed to measure the water pressure. If you inadvertently damage the fitting, you will need to replace the head. The main malfunctions of gas water heaters:

  • Contact contamination. Contacts that have become unusable must be replaced with new ones.
  • Damaged heat exchanger. Correction of the situation - replacement.

If the column does not light up

The most common problem that happens to gas water heater- the column does not light up. The cause of the problem may be a lack of traction. Before turning on the column, you need to check the draft in the vent - light a match and bring it to the chimney outlet. If everything is in order, then the flame seems to be drawn into the hole - there is a draft, and you can turn on the device. If the flame does not draw out, the chimney needs to be cleaned. This can be done on your own, but in the absence of skills, it is better to entrust a specialist.

Another common problem that happens with gas-fired water heaters is attenuation after ignition. If the wick goes out, you need to adjust the cold water supply.

Typical breakdowns

It happens that in the considered devices the hydraulic unit breaks down. It dismantles easily, but is difficult to put back into place. Having disconnected the hydraulic group, it is necessary to immediately check the valves - they must be securely fastened. Should the valves move, or the tightness of the connection will be broken, they must be changed immediately. When buying elements of a hydraulic unit, it is important to know the modification of the Civil Code.

Also in the GK, a breakdown of the solenoid valve may occur. This is little problem, but if not addressed in a timely manner, the consequences can be the most serious. The valve may deteriorate due to clogging with combustion products - it is urgent to clean it of soot, otherwise there is a threat of an explosion.

How much do spare parts cost?

The advantage of Astra heaters is the availability of spare parts. Since the devices are made in Russia, there is no problem with spare parts. The main thing is to order and pay. How much do spare parts cost? Approximately:

  • gas unit price - 1500 rubles;
  • water price - 1600 rubles;
  • the cost of a magnetic plug is 200 rubles;
  • repair kit for the water part - 150 rubles.

What tools are needed?

To connect, configure, repair or service the device, one screwdriver is not enough, you need a set of tools:

  • Adjustable wrench - 2 types.
  • Pipe wrench.
  • Gaskets - paronite and rubber.
  • Screwdrivers - Phillips and flat.
  • 1-2 inch rubber hose and metal clamp.
  • Special composition - to remove scale.
  • Bucket - drain water.

Astra simple gas water heaters have gained popularity due to their extremely simple design and low cost. They are affordable water heating equipment and are present on Russian market for several decades now. The choice of consumers is presented with many models that differ in performance and power. What are the advantages and features of Astra gas water heaters?

  • The absence of unnecessary functionality, which has a beneficial effect on the cost of equipment;
  • Productivity up to 12 l / min, it is quite enough for two points of water intake;
  • Good reliability, and this is a very important factor when buying.

Each column will delight you with the absence of complex filling and the availability of spare parts in the repair services market. You can buy an Astra gas water heater in many online stores and plumbing stores in your city.

Manufacturers can't help but praise their products. Therefore, when buying, it is customary to pay attention to customer reviews. It is them that we will give as an example in this review. With their help, you can learn about weak points presented products and the most common breakdowns.

Each published review is accompanied by a list of advantages and disadvantages, compiled by the buyers themselves. Based on them, you can get a more objective assessment of the selected model. You can read reviews about geysers from Bosch in another review on our website.

In my opinion, this is the simplest column that can only be found on sale. The price of the Astra 8910-10 geyser is so low that the purchase will not hit the buyer's pocket. In its simplicity, it resembles the old Soviet speakers. Many experts praise this model, so I bought it without hesitation. What can be said about her? The water heats up perfectly, you can even make the temperature very high. The control is carried out by two handles, but we almost never touch them, except in winter, when the tap water gets colder and the temperature at the outlet of the column drops.

Advantages:

  • Simple design, so you can repair it yourself;
  • Extremely affordable price, perfectly combined with reliability;
  • Ignition is carried out without pops, and due to the constantly burning fuse, there is no need to buy batteries (by the way, batteries are more expensive than this fuse can consume for six months of operation).

Disadvantages:

  • When opening the faucet, first going hot water, then the temperature stabilizes. Therefore, out of habit, you can get burned;
  • Not very convenient control, despite the fact that there are only two handles - there is an association with ancient Soviet speakers;
  • It makes noise quite loudly, since the noise does not penetrate into the bedroom where the child sleeps.

If you are going to buy an Astra gas water heater, try to pay attention to electric ignition. Thus, you will get rid of the constantly burning wick and will be able to safely leave the apartment without fear of gas leakage. I chose the Astra JSD20-10A geyser with electric ignition. The performance of the model is 10 l / min, the power of the model is 20 kW. Not the most economical option, but the purchase wins in price. True, after three years it began to leak, the heat exchanger leaked. I did not have to change, because everything was done with inexpensive soldering. In general, a good column, albeit with its shortcomings.

Advantages:

  • It is very cheap, and with electric ignition. If you need a modern and inexpensive column, choose it;
  • Normal control without incomprehensible protruding levers - there are just two rotating knobs on the front panel;
  • There is no unnecessary electronics, which are stuffed with many modern models.

Disadvantages:

  • With weak batteries, ignition occurs with cotton, household members are frightened. Therefore, you have to change the batteries frequently;
  • There is no temperature indicator, and the tap is far from the column, so you have to run back and forth;
  • The dependence of the outlet temperature on the inlet temperature.

I thought that in Russia they finally learned how to make gas water heaters. But it turned out that this is far from being the case, because the column turned out to be disgusting. Thank God that it has already been taken out of production - there was no need to launch it. Prices for Astra gas water heaters are low, but this does not mean that such muck should be born. You add a little cold water in the mixer, and for some reason it goes out. When it lights up again, you will have to adjust the temperature again with a mixer. It is difficult to catch the desired temperature with the adjustment knobs, especially since there is no electronic display here. All this is strange, given that the instructions for Astra JSD24-12B gas water heaters indicate that there is an automatic temperature control. At first it seemed to work, but then it probably broke. She also flooded the locker under her, and he swelled, had to throw it away.

Advantages:

  • Solid appearance, suggesting that we have a modern column in front of us (if you don’t know what’s inside);
  • Can work with two cranes at the same time, high performance.

Disadvantages:

  • Strange temperature support, it feels like it does not work at all;
  • The heat exchanger is leaking, it is often necessary to twist other connections;
  • Flimsy construction, like Chinese speakers (probably they have the same origin, only the manufacturer is eloquently silent about this);
  • Lights up with a little pop;
  • Multiple calls of the master cost us a round sum. If something serious breaks down for you, I recommend that you immediately throw out the speaker, and not engage in dubious repairs. And it’s better not to buy this rusty and rotten rubbish at all - save up money for a normal gas water heater, for example, Ariston or Bosch.

Veronica

My husband and I bought an apartment on the secondary market, and the sellers boasted that a couple of weeks ago they installed a new gas water heater. We were glad of this, since most often no one bothers to buy normal equipment. But it turned out to be abnormal. The column constantly breaks, sometimes starts to leak. Contacts with the old owners are lost, where they bought it is also unclear. Over time, it began to ignite badly, some kind of rubber gasket was replaced. Then the igniter began to go out, the master changed the gas sensor. Water pouring from all the cracks flooded our floors and back wall closet - it just started to rot. The other day we go to the store to buy another speaker, otherwise we are tired of spending money on repairs.

Advantages:

  • Simple control - only two knobs (although this is not modern, I did not know that such speakers are still being produced);
  • Fast reaching of the set temperature.

Disadvantages:

  • After starting the column, very hot water may flow from it, burning hands. After 10 seconds, the temperature drops to acceptable values;
  • Reminiscent of a sieve, as water flows from all sides. This caused damage to furniture and floors;
  • Incorrect operation of the igniter, periodically goes out and requires re-ignition;
  • Terrible appearance, a feeling that this is some kind of legacy of the USSR;
  • We need a lot of money for repairs, it's easier to buy a normal speaker from a well-known brand, we want to buy something from a foreign assembly.

Average column, sometimes better. It bakes with the fact that everything metal parts very thin inside. Because of this, there have already been leaks a couple of times. self-repair it lends itself, but it is still scary to repair it, since you can accidentally break it. Savings are savings, but you can't save that much. Anyway, this gas unit, inside heat- and suddenly a flimsy heat exchanger, thin tubes and so on. Are there really no standards and requirements for the reliability of gas equipment? It performs all other functions normally.

Advantages:

  • There is a small display that shows the outlet water temperature (you can not feel it with your hands);
  • Electric ignition, although it requires batteries, safety is paramount;
  • There is no this huge hole in the body through which the flame is visible - only a neat control hole;
  • Convenient (though not very intelligible) adjustment of temperature and pressure.

Disadvantages:

  • Low reliability of all internal components, there is a feeling that it was made of foil;
  • Get unpleasant leaks;
  • It turns on badly at reduced pressure, although it should have been the other way around.

In operation geyser Astra 8910, when you open the water, a spark is generated and even when the flame is already burning, the spark continues to be generated, and 1 and 5 times after five seconds, it stops with the flame continuing to burn, and in others it simply goes out.

We must start by cleaning the ionization electrode (which does not spark) and it would not hurt to blow off dust from the device, especially from the burner. Another wire of the ionization electrode could burn, cut and connect back.

There was a malfunction associated with the water block - when the water is cut off, the column does not go out instantly, as expected. At first, it began to go out with a pop, then it began to go out with a whole series of pops, and now it does not go out at all - small strips of burning gas remain on the burner and they continue to burn and, accordingly, heat the column, although the water is turned off. I understand that the stem does not work properly, does not completely shut off the gas supply? When I assembled it in the last repair, the stock went pretty tight, but everything worked. Here, it seems, a double-edged sword, walks freely, water seeps in, walks tight - there is no water, but there is no full coverage gas. I'm going to lubricate with something (graphite grease?), maybe it will help? In extreme cases, the replacement of the entire water block, but for now I want to squeeze everything possible out of this, especially since the gasket has just been replaced.

The frog is not to blame, the spring in the gas section is to blame. Remove the burner, pull out the spring, the one that is smaller and stretch it, about 1/3. They love to sit down. For one and pull out the cork and lubricate.

Can I put a heat exchanger on the VPG-18 Astra from models 20.23?

I think it is possible.

Never dealt with speakers before (lived in apartments with boilers or plumbing hot water), but now I'm faced with the Astra column. It worked, but it was unrealistic to use, the pressure at the outlet is very weak (although it is good at the inlet), and when the water is mixed, it goes out. It is unrealistic to take a shower, he took half a bath of boiling water and mixed it with cold. I decided to carry out an audit, first of all I dismantled the water reducer, it was all covered in plaque (layer 1 - 5-2 mm), cleaned it from plaque, naturally cleaned the holes, as it turned out further - the valve body is made of low-quality metal and this metal decomposed when interacting with water . As a result, after my "revision" the pressure became better, but the column stopped
ignite, then I reduced the outlet with a brass bushing, as a result of which it began to work, but not as I wanted? In general, if you fix this gearbox on the provided 3 screws, then it does not ignite, and if you release the screws and raise the gearbox (I prop it up with a bar), then everything works fine and goes out if hot water close and does not go out if you interfere with the cold and ignites if you open it hot. So I think it can lengthen the stem by 2mm? How can it be extended? Or what's the problem?

Please tell me if the automation on the gas water heater Astra 8910 began to turn off the burner with a delay, i.e. when the hot water is turned off, the fire dies out for half a minute, and not immediately, does this indicate a failure of the membrane? And is there any difficulty in replacing it? I have a repair kit, there, in addition to the membrane: a brass fungus, oil seals, a stem bushing, do I need to change any oil seals and a fungus? The membrane has not been changed since the date of installation in 2008.

The smaller spring in the gas section must be stretched.

The igniter on the Astra gas column does not light up. With what can be connected?

Remove the igniter tube and clean it. You may need to change the rubber gasket.

Malfunction of the gas water heater VPG-18 Astra, does not ignite, since there is no pressure in the hot water tap, while in the tap with cold water pressure is excellent. What could be the reason?

The reasons may be different: the heat exchanger is clogged with scale, the column filter is clogged, the hot water pipe or the tap itself is blocked, etc. You can try this: disconnect the outlet pipeline from the device and look at the water pressure directly at the outlet of it: if good, then - something clogged after, if it's bad, then there is a problem with the device.

In operation, the Astra 8910 gas water heater. When the water is opened, the main burner does not light up or lights up, but it burns very weakly and the flame is not regulated. There is a suspicion that it is time to change the membrane, but maybe the problem is something else?

Yes, most likely the membrane. It is not shaped, you can cut it yourself from sheet rubber up to 1 mm.

Help me find the cause, Astra 8910-02 gas water heater, when hot water is turned on, it goes out from time to time, I cleaned the thermocouple to a shine, the membrane is in good condition, but just in case I replaced it with a new one, the water pressure is less than that of cold water, what else note?

Maybe the draft is bad, or the draft sensor is acting up. If there is no draft sensor, then there is a tube curved in a hook at the top of the water heater and going to the igniter. The air necessary for combustion is supplied through this tube to the igniter. If the draft is broken (and, accordingly, the removal of smoke), then not air, but smoke will go through the tube, and the igniter will go out, the thermocouple will cool down and the column will turn off. So even without a draft sensor (it responds to an increase in temperature in the upper part of the apparatus), but with such a system, the column reacts to deterioration / lack of thrust. The igniter flame must hit the thermocouple. If for some reason this does not happen, then due to insufficient heating of the thermocouple, it gives less current and the solenoid valve shuts off the gas supply to the burner.

Geyser Astra, model 8910, 1.5 years. From the very beginning of the connection, when adding gas, when the temperature of the hot water rises (from warm to noticeably hot), when the gas supply control knob is turned to the left, when it is set against the right small red flame icon on the front
cover of the column, it begins to "sing" and crackle. The pressure of water, cold and hot at the outlet, is satisfactory, but the temperature of the water (for example, when filling into the bath) is low. I'm afraid to increase the gas supply. With a meager turn of the knob to the left, it continues to "sing" and crackle even more strongly. I don't think this is safe. Is it possible to somehow solve this issue?

If like a kettle before boiling, then this is scale. Needs to be cleaned and washed.

Who removed the heat exchanger from the HSV-18 gas column? Share your experience, I just can’t unscrew it, I’m already pulling with a gas wrench with all my might, but it doesn’t give in.

The inlet and outlet of the heat exchanger are screwed union nuts with fittings. It is unscrewed with ordinary keys, but there should be two of them: the fitting is held with one key, and the nut is unscrewed with the second key (you can vice versa: hold the nut and unscrew the fitting). When using a gas wrench with force, the nut may crack. There are difficult cases when water seeps into this compound and over time the compound sours. Then it is better to remove the device, put it on the floor or on the table and unscrew it.

Astra VPG-18 gas column malfunction, stopped lighting up. I disassembled the frog, changed the stem with the mushroom and the membrane. After that, it lights up only at maximum pressure and, accordingly, almost does not heat. What can be done? There is an old frog without a disk.

If the membrane is black so it will be. If there is a wrench cap on the front of the water block 22-unscrew. There is a filter installed - remove it. The adjusting needle of the pressure regulator is screwed into the plug, try to unscrew it. It will break and then it will not be a pity to buy a new regulator with a disk, you can adjust the pressure without disassembly. With the plug turned out, clean the hole in the block with a D2 mm needle.

A year and a half ago, we purchased and installed an Astra gas water heater. They called gas workers who looked at the water pressure and advised us to buy this model. After some time, the pressure of hot water in the bathroom decreased ( private house, kitchen and bathroom nearby). The kitchen has remained the same. In the kitchen, the column turned on immediately, and in the bathroom only if water flowed in the kitchen. Today my pipes froze, for some time there was no water. Now the water pressure is the same as it was. But it doesn't turn on. Even if I turn on hot water, both in the bathroom and in the kitchen. Prompt, with what it can be connected?

There is one hot water outlet from the column. If the pressure of hot water in the kitchen was good, but in the bathroom it was bad, then the problem was not in the column, but in the pipe or faucet in the bathroom. Try adjusting the water flow with the appropriate adjusting screw. This is such a round piece in front of the water part (frog).

Astra 18 gas column malfunction. It does not ignite at all, it goes out. We think that the membrane has burst, or there is no pressure (it's just that earlier the pressure from the tap in the kitchen was greater, now it is weaker, much, but it still seems enough to turn on the column). We'll see if it's clogged. The fact is that the pressure of water from a cold and hot tap is very different (hot water goes much weaker). The igniter seems to be good, it does not bother, it is almost inaudible, it burns constantly. What can be done?

Try to disconnect the water outlet from the column and light it. If it lights up, then your pipes are clogged, if not, then either the membrane is torn or the filter screen is clogged. Unscrew the regulator wheel on the front of the water block, there is a nut for 8. Under it is a nut for 22. Unscrew it and pull out the filter mesh. I have the same device for the 5th year. The igniter was noisy. I took a spring from an automatic ballpoint pen and inserted into the igniter outlet. There's a notch that just fits. It is located under the guide petal of the flame. You don't need to parse anything. Got a splitter. Now the igniter is not audible at all.

The Astra 8910 gas water heater is in operation. Once again, having dismantled the heat exchanger and poured an antiscale solution into it, I decided to check where I have strong pressure losses. What we have: water pressure 1.6 atm. (3rd floor and water tower), 12.5 liters per minute from a cold tap. As if it is clear that the column reduces the pressure of water. After descaling, the water flow improves. So, the pressure of cold water is good - 12.5 liters per minute. I connect the flexible inlet and outlet connections of their column with a nipple - the pressure is almost the same. Installed a flush heat exchanger. The pressure has decreased quite a bit. Thus, I found that the lion's share of the head loss occurs in the water block. 3.5 liters per minute comes out of the hot tap! Cold 12.5 and hot 3.5! The water block has a hot-cold regulator. Stands in the cold position, providing maximum water passage through the column. Maybe this regulator inside is broken in the horizontal position, and the device slows down the flow as much as possible because of this. How to check it?

There is nothing to break there. Most likely, the filter standing there (mesh in the form of a tube) is clogged. It is necessary to unscrew the nut, which is under the gore-hole adjusting handwheel, and look. I remember a similar case. And the heat exchanger was washed, and the water part was dismantled, and they didn’t do anything, but there was still not enough water at the outlet. It turned out that on the cold water pipe at the connection in front of the column, those who installed it pinched the gasket, and initially little water entered it.

In operation gas column Astra VPG. 5 years worked well, but there was a malfunction. Symptoms: The wick goes out during ignition, when you release the handle. I press the left handle - gas is supplied to the wick. I turn it counterclockwise - the piezo fires, the wick lights up, I stand, waiting for the thermocouple to warm up. After any number of minutes of waiting, I release the handle - the wick goes out, but should continue to burn. The last week, it often turned out that the column was turned off, for what reason the wick goes out, I finally figured it out like that, and did not have time. Often had to go to light it. And here it turned out that sometimes it is quite difficult to kindle it, that is, it was necessary to heat the thermocouple for almost 2 minutes. And then she didn't want to fire at all. A few hours later, it ignited the first time in 30 seconds. But then it went out again and did not light up for a day. Then it lit up one last time, and I have not been able to do it again until now. Can you tell me how to troubleshoot and troubleshoot?

It is necessary to check whether the tip of the thermocouple is smoky, if necessary, carefully clean it with fine sandpaper. Is the thermocouple well washed by the igniter flame, if necessary, clean the nozzle (it is often called a jet) of the igniter with a very thin wire; from thermocouple
a thin tube goes to the solenoid valve (EMC), where it enters the EMC, unscrew the nut, pull out this tube and use a zero-marker (or scratch matchbox) clean the contact, insert the tube into the solenoid valve and tighten the nut without excessive force. Is there a draft / overheating sensor in the column? If there is, then clean the contacts on it. If all this does not help, then, most likely, it is necessary to change the thermocouple. Problems when turning on / off the column are possible due to the fact that it is time to replace the membrane in the water part (the water part is also called the frog). Traction sensor with solenoid valve make up a series circuit in which the heated thermocouple gives current, if there is a bad contact, the water heater will not turn on. The thrust sensor is triggered by overheating - the contact opens in it from the heat, the current disappears in the circuit, and in the EMC the electromagnet "releases" the valve, which shuts off the gas. It is easy to check the serviceability / malfunction of the thrust sensor: it is enough to short it, if after that the column works, then it is faulty.

Astra 8910-02 geyser malfunction. The igniter always lights up for a very long time, you have to press the button for about 30 seconds to light up the igniter, and it has always been like this, since the column was installed. And the second question, recently, already during the supply of hot water, both the burner and the igniter constantly began to go out, after this attenuation, it is even more difficult to light the igniter, you need to press the button much longer to ignite. The device is about 5 years old.

Perhaps it will help. In models of this type (that is Neva, that Astra) - the principle of operation is absolutely the same.

Astra VPG gas column malfunction. It crackles strongly when water is supplied, and it does not matter if it burns or not, what is the reason?

You probably have a recirculation pump installed in your plumbing system (in the entire system). If this is the case, then it is better to connect the home system to the general water supply with a soft or plastic connection.

They lit the Astra gas column, turned on the hot water, the column itself either goes out or lights up. I was told that it was either a membrane or a bad rod. He opened the block, lubricated the rod with graphite grease, changed the membrane upside down. Worked for several days. Then the same thing. I bought a new block, bronze, with a spring mount on top, this was not on the old one, the store said that it should be so. The stem doesn't move at all. Okay, I put it on and now even the wick does not light up. What can be done?

In the old block, replace the membrane (it stretched) and everything will be fine. The wick does not light up, because you have done something a little. It should light up, at least when the button is pressed. The mount with a spring serves to replace / stuff the stuffing box seal of the stem, earlier there was a rubber ring inside, but it was very inconvenient and, most importantly, it was not always possible to change it. There, the thrust ring on the cone did not hold well during removal and installation. Try to pull the rod out on a new dropsy with your hands, and then drive it back. Should walk with little resistance, but freely and without binding. Also try turning the venturi all the way on the front of the dropsy.

Answers for the maintenance and repair of geysers Astra VPG

Question: The igniter on the Astra gas column does not light up. With what can be connected?

Answer: Remove the igniter tube and clean it. You may need to change the rubber gasket.

Question: The gas water heater VPG-18 Astra does not ignite, since there is no pressure in the hot water tap, while the pressure in the cold water tap is excellent. What could be the reason?

Answer: There may be different reasons: the heat exchanger is clogged with scale, the column filter is clogged, the hot water pipe or the tap itself is blocked, etc. You can try this: disconnect the outlet pipeline from the column and look at the water pressure directly at the outlet of the column: if good, it means something is clogged after the column, if it's bad, then there is a problem with the column.

Question: Astra water heater installed. When the water is turned on, the main burner does not light up or lights up, but it burns very weakly and the flame is not regulated. There is a suspicion that it is time to change the membrane, but maybe the problem is something else?

Answer: Yes, most likely a membrane. It is not shaped, you can cut it yourself from sheet rubber up to 1 mm.

Question: Help me find the cause, Astra 8910 02 gas water heater, when hot water is turned on, the column goes out from time to time, I cleaned the thermocouple to a shine, the membrane is in good condition, but just in case I replaced it with a new one, the water pressure is less than that of the cold one, for which still pay attention?

Answer: Maybe the draft is bad, or the draft sensor is acting up.

So even without a draft sensor (it responds to an increase in temperature in the upper part of the column), but with such a system, the column reacts to deterioration / lack of draft. The igniter flame must hit the thermocouple. If for some reason this does not happen, then due to insufficient heating of the thermocouple, it gives less current and the solenoid valve shuts off the gas supply to the burner.

Question: Geyser Astra, model 8910, 1.5 years. From the very beginning of the connection, when gas is added to the hot water temperature rises (from warm to noticeably hot), when the gas supply control knob is turned to the left, when it is set against the right small red flame icon on the front cover of the column, the column begins to "sing" and crackle.

Answer: if it’s like a kettle before boiling, then this is scale. Needs to be cleaned and washed.

Question: Who removed the heat exchanger from the gas column Astra HSV-18? Share your experience, I just can’t unscrew it, I’m already pulling with a gas wrench with all my might, but it doesn’t give in.

Answer: The inlet and outlet of the heat exchanger are screwed with union nuts with fittings. It is unscrewed with ordinary keys, but there should be two of them: the fitting is held with one key, and the nut is unscrewed with the second key (you can vice versa: hold the nut and unscrew the fitting). When using a gas wrench with force, the nut may crack. There are difficult cases when water seeps into this connection and over time the connection turns sour. Then it is better to remove the column, put it on the floor or on the table and unscrew it.

Question: Tell me, the gas water heater Astra HSV-18 stopped lighting up. I disassembled the frog, changed the stem with the mushroom and the membrane. After that, the column lights up only at maximum pressure and, accordingly, almost does not heat up. What can be done? there is an old frog without a disk.

Answer: If the membrane is black, so be it. If there is a 22-key plug on the front of the water block, unscrew it. A filter is installed there - remove it. The adjusting needle of the pressure regulator is screwed into the plug, try to unscrew it. It will break and then it will not be a pity to buy a new regulator with a disk, you can adjust the pressure without disassembly. With the plug turned out, clean the hole in the block with a D2 mm needle.

Question: A year and a half ago, we purchased and installed an Astra water heater (geyser). They called gas workers who looked at the water pressure and advised us to buy this model. After some time, the pressure of hot water in the bathroom decreased (private house, kitchen and bathroom nearby). The kitchen has remained the same. In the kitchen, the column turned on immediately, and in the bathroom only if water flowed in the kitchen. Today my pipes froze, for some time there was no water. Now the water pressure is the same as it was. But the column does not turn on. Even if I turn on hot water, both in the bathroom and in the kitchen. Prompt with what it can be connected?

Answer: There is one hot water outlet from the column. If the pressure of hot water in the kitchen was good, but in the bathroom it was bad, then the problem was not in the column, but in the pipe or faucet in the bathroom. Try adjusting the water flow with the appropriate adjusting screw. This is such a round piece in front of the water part (frog).

Question: The gas water heater Astra HSV-18 does not ignite at all, it goes out. We think that the membrane has burst, or there is no pressure (it's just that earlier the pressure from the tap in the kitchen was greater, now it is weaker, much, but it still seems enough to turn on the column). Let's see if it's clogged. The fact is that the pressure of water from a cold and hot tap is very different (hot goes much weaker). The igniter seems to be good, it does not bother, it is almost inaudible, it burns constantly. What can be done?

Answer: Try to disconnect the water outlet from the column and light it. If it lights up, then your pipes are clogged, if not, then either the membrane is torn or the filter screen is clogged. Unscrew the regulator wheel on the front of the water block, there is a nut for 8. Under it is a nut for 22. Unscrew it and pull out the filter mesh. I've had the same column for 5 years now. The igniter was noisy. I took a spring from an automatic ballpoint pen and inserted it into the igniter outlet. There's a notch that just fits. It is located under the guide petal of the flame. You don't need to parse anything. Got a splitter. Now the igniter is not audible at all.

Question: An Astra 8910 gas water heater was installed in the house. Once again, having dismantled the heat exchanger and poured an antiscale solution into it, I decided to check where I have strong pressure losses. What we have: water pressure 1.6 atm (3rd floor + water tower), 12.5 liters per minute from a cold tap.

Cold 12.5, and hot 3.5! There is a GOR-HOL regulator on the water block. It stands in the HOL position, providing maximum water passage through the column. Maybe this regulator inside is broken in the HOR position, and the column slows down the flow as much as possible because of this. How to check it?

Answer: There is nothing to break. Most likely the filter standing there (mesh in the form of a tube) is clogged. It is necessary to unscrew the nut, which is under the gore-hole adjusting handwheel, and look. I remember a similar case. And the heat exchanger was washed, and the water part was dismantled, and they didn’t do anything, but there was still not enough water at the outlet. It turned out that on the cold water pipe at the connection in front of the column, those who installed it pinched the gasket, and initially little water entered the column.

Question: I have an Astra VPG-21 water heater. 5 years worked well, but there was a malfunction. Symptoms: The wick goes out during ignition, when you release the handle. I press the left handle - gas is supplied to the wick. I turn it counterclockwise - the piezo works, the wick lights up, I stand waiting for the thermocouple to warm up. After any number of minutes of waiting, I release the handle - the wick goes out, but should continue to burn.

The last week, it often turned out that the column was turned off, for what reason the wick goes out, I did not have time to finally calculate it. Then it lit up one last time and I have not been able to do it again until now. Can you tell me how to troubleshoot and troubleshoot?

Answer: It is necessary to check whether the tip of the thermocouple is smoky, if necessary, carefully clean it with fine sandpaper; whether the thermocouple is well washed by the igniter flame, if necessary, clean the nozzle (it is often called a jet) of the igniter with a very thin wire; a thin tube goes from the thermocouple to the electromagnetic valve (EMC), where it enters the EMC, unscrew the nut, pull out this tube and
clean the contact with a zero-pointer (or a matchbox scratcher), insert the tube into the solenoid valve and tighten the nut without excessive force.

The draft sensor with a solenoid valve make up a series circuit in which a heated thermocouple gives current, if there is a bad contact, the water heater will not turn on.

Question: The gas water heater Astra 8910-02 always lights up the igniter for a very long time, you have to press the button for about 30 seconds so that the igniter lights up and it has always been like this, since the installation of the column. And the second question, recently, already during the supply of hot water, both the burner and the igniter constantly began to go out, after this attenuation, it is even more difficult to light the igniter, you need to press the button much longer to ignite. The column is about 5 years old.

Answer: It might help. In columns of this type (that is Neva, that Astra) - the principle of operation is absolutely the same.

Question: Geyser Astra HSV 21-2. It crackles strongly when water is supplied, and it does not matter if it burns or not, what is the reason?

Answer: You probably have a recirculation pump installed in your plumbing system. (In the entire system). If this is the case, then it is better to connect the home system to the general water supply with a soft or plastic connection.

I bought a new block with a bronze top mount with a spring, the old one didn’t have this, the store said that it should be so. The stem doesn't move at all. Answer: In the old block, replace the membrane (it has stretched) and everything will be fine. The wick does not light up because you have done something a little. It should light up, at least when the button is pressed. Should walk with little resistance, but freely and without binding. Also try turning the venturi all the way on the front of the dropsy.
