Helmets are a means of individual head protection at a construction site and in production. We make an adjustable mounting system for a construction helmet

Many years ago, people began to decorate their homes. A large number of flowers, figurines of gnomes and rabbits in the garden pleasantly surprise, delight the eye and give aesthetic pleasure. It is worth placing several of these stylish elements on your site, and you will immediately see how it will change. In addition, making decorations is very simple and fun with family and friends: any materials that are at hand will work for this, and the costs are minimal. Since childhood, everyone has liked the ladybug, this symbol of good luck that flies to us from the sky, and we put it on our finger and send it back, saying different words. So why not please yourself and others by creating such charm yourself. Great idea- do-it-yourself ladybug from a helmet. So unnecessary old thing will turn into small miracle. From such creativity your children will be delighted, and fine motor skills hands contributes to the development of intelligence.

We make a ladybug from a helmet with our own hands in stages

In order to create a ladybug quickly and easily from a hard hat, you will need:

  • Unnecessary construction helmet;
  • Red, black paint (white optional);
  • Brushes.

If you want to add antennae to the sun, then for this you can take tubes from a used spray gun, wire and a drill to make holes for them.

Making a ladybug with your own hands from a helmet is absolutely not difficult. Even a child will understand how to create this lovely insect after reading this article and watching a master class on making various photos and video. What will be the result of your creativity depends on the materials that you use in the process. For example, if you take a red construction helmet or orange color, then it is no longer necessary to paint it.

Well, let's look at the sequence of actions when creating a ladybug for a garden.

  1. The first and most important thing we need is a helmet. You can use a helmet of any color, but, as mentioned above, it is better to take a red one so as not to bother much with painting. It must be washed and it is desirable to cover the surface with a layer of primer so that the paint lays down more evenly and does not peel off over time.
  1. Further, to match reality, the helmet must be painted red. If you want to decorate the area with colorful ladybugs, use any color scheme. To heighten the effect, so that the insect shone and shimmered in the sun, it is better to cover it acrylic paints(even in 2 layers).

Tip: painting is best done in the evening, as under the influence of the sun and when elevated temperature paint may lose its properties and lie unevenly on the surface.

  1. While the painted helmets are drying, we make mustaches for our ladybugs. To do this, we take the tubes from the spray gun, thread the wires into them, bend them as we want. Next, we drill small holes near the visor of the helmet and put them in there - here the mustache is ready. If desired, they can be made from iron rods.
  1. The paint is dry, let's move on to the design. For those who do not like to bother, you can just take a black marker and draw circles, stripes. But will it be as effective as it is fast? No. Your ladybug will swim at the first light rain. So we take black paint (again, acrylic can be used) and draw circles. To make them smoother, you can draw with plastic cup and pencil, then paint over.
  1. At this stage, we create a muzzle for our BC. Eyes can be drawn with white and black paint, cut out of paper, or you can buy ready-made eyes for toys and stick them on. At will, we draw a mouth, cling to the paws, decorate with beads, rhinestones, threads, etc. Everything, our ladybug is ready.

You can place such a charm created by your own hands anywhere. It will look great on a tree, a fence, in grass, among flowers, on a stump, even in a house on a bedside table. But most likely the children will take the BC for their games.

One more way.

You can make a ladybug using a construction helmet in a completely different way. For this, the helmet is used as a mold. We pour thick cement mortar and put the mass on flat surface. It is best to dry this blank under a film so that it does not crack. Next, paint it different colors- and voila. Thus, with the help of one helmet, you can make many ladybugs for the garden. It’s a pity that you can only plant such suns on horizontal surface: since the craft is heavy, you can’t place it on a tree.

A selection of videos on the topic of the article

Here are a couple of different video ideas to create with detailed instruction for manufacturing. Create, decorate, enjoy!

The helmet of the head, as well as similar protective headgear of other categories of workers, is designed to protect the head from dangerous external factors. And the structural elements of the helmet of the chief most often have the same as other similar PPE. But there is still a difference.

The main distinguishing feature of a protective helmet for the head is the color. He's white

Why is the boss wearing a white helmet

There are no requirements for the color of protective helmets in the GOST system. Therefore, within an enterprise or industry, management can set their own rules regarding the use of their color palette.

But according to the requirements Specifications should visually separate construction workers according to their job descriptions. In accordance with this document, white helmets "Head" must be worn by "heads, heads of workshops and sections ...". And with light hand Under these conditions, not only at construction sites, but also at other enterprises and industries, the authorities began to choose white for their helmets.

Such distinguishing feature of these PPE allows you to:

  • Timely notice the boss in places where it is unsafe, and warn him against accidents.
  • Quickly find a direct manager if necessary.

The white construction helmet for managers has become in demand among the chiefs who lead different types works: mining, loading and unloading of products, road repair, logging, etc.

How firefighters' helmets are marked

For firefighters of the first years of the existence of Soviet power, the “Boss” helmet differed only in that it was chrome-plated, while for ordinary soldiers such helmets were brass in a natural color. But today it’s not enough for firefighters simply, there is a requirement to mark these PPE heads.

Marking firefighter helmets allows you to distinguish their owners by position

The following symbols are the hallmarks of some commanding ranks:

Head of fire and rescue crew
Head of duty shift
Head of a separate post
Head of the fire and rescue department
Leading fire and rescue team

The appearance of the white helmet and the status of the head

It turns out that a protective white helmet for a leader betrays not only the bossiness of the one who wears it. Builders, for example, say that appearance helmets perfectly understand what position a person occupies at a construction site: the cleaner the PPE, the higher the position of the boss.

If helmet:

  • Dirty white with scratches and scuffs- It belongs to the foreman. Of course, he does not work as intensively as the workers, but his working conditions are also not the best.
  • Almost like new- its owner is the foreman. Most time this helmet hangs on a carnation in the trailer. And only an infrequent production need forces them to use it.
  • snow white- it is offered to official visitors of the construction site. These include representatives of regulatory authorities or the administration of a construction company.

The off-white helmet "Chief" directly monitors the work performed and determines earnings, so the rest of the construction team does not like her too much. Workers do not pay attention to snow-white helmets

Cool helmets of chiefs with all sorts of inscriptions

The white color of a protective helmet is an unconditional indicator that its owner belongs to the leadership of the labor collective. But there are bosses who, in addition to high professional qualities available and a sense of humor. As a gift, they can always be presented with a special construction helmet for managers, cool protection with cool inscription very suitable for such people.

Such helmets are an excellent indicator that their owners are able to notice the comic in any life situation.

You can buy a construction helmet for a manager with playful inscriptions for professional holidays, birthdays and other occasions. And put on them different expressions and statements. For example:

  • Being the boss is awful, hard and unsafe
  • A subordinate in the face of a superior should look dashing and silly ...
  • Nasyalnik!
  • I will be in charge here!
  • I see everything
  • The boss is always right, etc.

An original helmet with a playful inscription is a win-win gift option for a leader of any rank

Get a white protective helmet for your boss at the most pleasant price from the IVANYCHGROUP company. We can also, which will make your leader special. You call our managers to find out all questions concerning the order and drawing.

One of the most important attributes of protection, which requires a construction specialty, is a helmet. A construction helmet is a protective headgear used to protect the head from injury. They can occur when heavy objects fall, electricity, precipitation.

History of the construction helmet

The beginning of its existence, the helmet dates back to the 16th century. At that time it was used by warriors, it was made of metal. It is she who is considered the progenitor of modern helmets. If the ancient protective headdresses differed in considerable weight, then modern technologies and use latest materials, to minimize it. The first construction helmets for workers began to be produced in the seventies of the XX century. They were made of plastic, were fragile and bulky, could not provide reliable protection and ease of wearing. Staying in them for a long time was inconvenient.

Requirements for a modern construction helmet

In order for a construction helmet to acquire the status of a full-fledged means of protection, it must comply with the current GOST and have a marking confirming this. Qualities that characterize the convenience and reliability during operation:

  • the presence of ventilation holes in the side parts for good air exchange;
  • comfortable chin strap;
  • smooth regulation of the size;
  • breathable lining;
  • shock-resistant outer part;
  • the presence of a damping mechanism.

Most of the products currently manufactured meet these requirements. Even those who have low price. The price difference among such products is significant. Simple Models cost from a hundred rubles. Products of well-known European brands have a good reputation due to high quality. Accordingly, its price is much higher.

As an example, you can pay attention to the manufacturer DeltaPlus (France), whose products meet all the necessary safety and comfort standards:

  1. Helmets have an impact-resistant housing made of ABS plastic, which is characterized by increased strength.
  2. The fastening system is the company's own development, it may vary depending on the size of the head.
  3. Optimized air access system to protect against water intrusion.
  4. Eight-point attachment using three straps.
  5. Inner part Equipped with a thermophilic pad that absorbs sweat.

Possible differences between expensive and cheap construction helmets

Budget construction helmets, as well as more expensive options, have similar features. For the production of the housing, an impact-resistant type of plastic with low electrical conductivity and low weight is used. This provides protection against mechanical damage and electric current. There is a visor that protrudes in front and protects from the blinding sun. Some of the models have such qualities as heat resistance, especially valuable when working near open flames and welding.

Fasteners in both versions provide a secure fit. The inner part partially absorbs impact. Helmets from low price segment- plain, made in standard color scheme- more often orange, white, yellow, red. Previously, the color indicated the position held. Orange and yellow were worn by workers, white - foremen, heads of enterprises, red - site foremen, engineers. Now there is no such division.

Expensive models are distinguished by the presence of a moisture-absorbing lining made of breathable fabrics. The chin strap, which tightly fixes the headgear, is made of natural materials. There is a forehead part in the form of an obturator. In some models, there is a place for fastening glasses and a company logo. For connoisseurs of originality, there is even the possibility of their author's performance.

Will it be the right decision to purchase the cheapest helmets? Most importantly, determine the purpose of their purchase. For large construction organizations, this will be appropriate. Any of them will provide required level safety for the employee, as it passes the necessary tests before being put on sale. The reliability of the seller and the availability of a quality certificate will be important. Expensive helmets are bought in limited quantities and are intended for those employees who, during work, will need their additional features.

Construction helmet adjustment

What will be required in order to be able to create a helmet attachment system in the chin area? It is necessary to have a protective headgear with a suspension system in which two crossed slings are involved. It is desirable that there is a plastic header for a snug fit on the head.

What sling and accessories will be required:

  • slings 2 - 2.5 cm wide and 2 meters long;
  • tridentfastex lock -1 pc;
  • fastex with 2 slots - 2 pcs;
  • fastex with 3 slots - 1 pc.

It is necessary to comply with the size of the sling and fittings.

Manufacturing process:

  1. Four holes are made in the helmet, into which the sling will be inserted - two in the area of \u200b\u200bthe visor and temples, and two in the back of the head (close to each other).
  2. Slings are pulled through the holes obtained, starting from the back of the head, with inside out.
  3. After that, each edge is threaded into the fastex holes with 2 slots and into the trident lock, thus creating the back half of the fastening system.
  4. By bending and threading the sling in the opposite direction, through the fastex with 2 slots, it turns out side part mounts.
  5. The edges of the sling are passed through the holes in the front of the helmet.
  6. Having put on a helmet on the head, the tension of the lines and the convenient location of the fittings are adjusted. One of the ends of the attachment should be longer so that the trident lock is located on the side of the chin. On the short side it is necessary to place the latch of the lock.
  7. The short edge of the sling is wound into fastex with 3 slots on outside helmets and fastened with a thread and a needle.
  8. The long edge, passed into the fastex with 3 holes, will be used as an adjustment.

These simple manipulations will allow you to easily adjust the helmet fastenings.

Rules of operation, care

When choosing a helmet, it is worth considering the correspondence of the size of the helmet to the volume of the head. It should not have deformations of the body and constituent elements. If damage has been received, the item must be mandatory replacement. Independent replacement of any component parts is prohibited. When a construction helmet is not being used, it is required proper storage, at a temperature of 15 ° C, without exposure to sunlight, acids, solvents. The shelf life from the date of commencement of use is three to five years.

How to properly clean depends on the degree of contamination. Usually enough water and non-aggressive detergent. But you can use chlorine-containing liquids, there will be no harm from this.

Helmets - means personal protection(PPE) heads - have found the widest application in various fields, they are actively used by builders and installers, miners and the military, athletes, etc. The main functions of protective construction helmets are as follows:

  • Protection of the head from mechanical damage.
  • Protection against water and fire (sparks).
  • Electric current protection.
  • Designation of the status of the owner of the helmet (knowing what the color of the helmet means, you can determine who is in front of you: construction manager, foreman, handyman). However, today this point is not always fulfilled.

Universal protective helmets, no matter how the sellers convince you of this, do not exist. Of course, all helmets have much in common, but, for example, helmets with wider brim are optimal for blasting; for work at height, you should choose a helmet-"hat" without brim, which can be caught on rafters or cables.

Construction helmets: GOSTs and standards

Quality and protective properties construction helmets are strictly regulated by GOST (12.4.207-99), the European standard for protective helmets (EN397) and the International standard (ISO No. 3873). In our article, we will not completely rewrite GOST (this document is quite available on the Internet), we will give only the main points:

  • Construction helmets must be made of durable, puncture-resistant and deformation-resistant material (case thickness - at least 2 mm).
  • On the inner surface the helmet should not have any protrusions, bumps, roughness, which, with a strong impact, can cause injury.
  • General construction helmets must have ventilation holes to improve heat transfer of the head (with the exception of helmets that are used by workers in contact with conductive elements).
  • The weight of the helmet should be optimal: a helmet weighing more than 400-500 grams can cause discomfort and, accordingly, a decrease in performance.

Nowadays, construction helmets are made from the most various materials, such as:

  1. Polyethylene (polyethylene helmets are not recommended for use at elevated temperatures).
  2. Polypropylene and ABS plastic.
  3. Polycarbonate and polyester, optionally reinforced with fiberglass.
  4. Phenolic textile and other thermoplastic materials (used for the production of helmets used when working with electric current, molten metal).

What is a construction helmet made of?

Construction helmets include the following items:

  • The body itself, which performs a protective function.
  • Internal tooling required for cushioning.
  • Chin strap that secures the helmet to your head.

In no case should the inner surface of the body (dome) and the upper surface of the equipment touch, otherwise the functionality of the helmet loses its meaning: there must be a safe vertical gap between them, at least 40-50 mm high. Inner fittings (carrying tapes, shock-absorbing elements, sweat-absorbing tapes, etc.) must be made of materials that do not cause skin irritation (polyethylene, leather, woven fabric). Also (in high-quality helmets) they are made removable, so that during the entire period of operation the owner of the helmet has the opportunity to change the failed elements.

Color solutions and design features of modern helmets

We already wrote that earlier the color of the helmet had to correspond to the position of its owner: white helmets belonged to the leadership; red - foremen and foremen; orange and yellow - for workers, etc. Today, such a clear division no longer exists, everyone can choose a helmet to their taste and color. But does this mean that all the workers rushed to buy white helmets to feel like bosses? Not at all, and here's why. construction helmets white color have several disadvantages:

  • They gleam in the sun and can dazzle the eyes of nearby workers.
  • At the same time, they are not so noticeable to others in conditions of poor visibility (fog, dust clouds), while bright colored helmets (red, yellow, green) "strike" into the eye, providing their owners with additional protection from the negligence of colleagues.
  • Colored helmets “signal” the loss of their properties: earlier, when helmets did not have UV indicators, workers judged their suitability by color intensity: a helmet that had faded almost white in the sun was replaced with a new one.

The main task of a construction helmet is to reliably protect the head from impact. This task can be solved by specially selected materials from which this PPE is made, and its design features. Many materials are afraid of sunlight (UV radiation) and change their properties when it is exposed to it for a long time. Helmets are no exception! Plastic, which at first glance is strong, loses its elasticity over time under the influence of UV (plasticizers come out of it), as a result of which, upon impact, the old PPE of the head cracks easily and does not provide safety - i.e. wearing such helmets is pointless - an extra inconvenience.

And now more about some of the nuances of modern helmets. The head PPE produced by the world-famous 3M™ company is represented by high-quality safety helmets made of modern high-strength materials and characterized by improved ergonomics. So, 3M™ helmets, sold by CJSC MONA, are equipped with UV indicators that determine the degree of wear (“aging”) of PPE as a result of exposure to ultraviolet radiation, which gives you the opportunity to buy a new helmet and ensure your safety. Also, ZM™ helmets can be easily combined (do not interfere with each other when worn) with other 3M™ PPE, such as goggles, headphones (there are special mounts for 3M™ headphones), face shields (there are mounts), respirators, masks, a flashlight (and there is a special mount for it). CJSC MONA provides its customers with only certified products: protective helmets, respirators, goggles, overalls and other PPE that fully comply with all international standards.

Finally, we want to tell you when and how often you need to change your helmet. So, the helmet is subject to mandatory replacement in cases where:

  • The UV indicator "warns" when the helmet is worn.
  • Visible damage appeared on the helmet: dents, scratches, burnouts, cracks.
  • The helmet received very swipe(even if there is no visible damage).
  • Wearing a helmet is accompanied by a feeling of discomfort (in this case, it is possible to replace only the internal equipment, and not the entire product).
  • After three years from the beginning of the operation of the helmet, especially if it is actively used in conditions negative influences(UV radiation, high temperatures etc.), even if there are no visible changes on the helmet.

A lot of negative things have already been said about the use of construction helmets instead of certified ones. But still, most beginner tourists, climbers, speleologists, rock climbers, because of the high cost of branded helmets and helmets, start with construction ones. In this article I want to present my idea of forming an adjustable system for attaching a helmet to a person's chin.

Necessary materials:

1. Construction helmet or any other helmet without fastening straps.
It is advisable to find a helmet that has a suspension system on 2 crossed lines, like the famous PETZL ECRIN ROC. It is also very good that the tightness of the fit of the helmet on the head is at least partially solved by adjusting the plastic headrest, as in the sample under consideration. Unfortunately, not all helmets and helmets of well-known sports brands have this feature.
The cost of an experienced helmet is 35 UAH (about 4 dollars).

2. Accessories and sling:
- sling 20 mm wide, 2 m long
- fastex lock-trident - 1 pc.
- fastex 2-slit -2 pcs, for summing the occipital and temporal slings.
- fastex 3-slotted -1 pc, for adjusting the tension of the sling.
You can use a sling with a width of 25 mm. It is important to consider that the fittings match the sling.
The cost of the whole set is about 15 UAH (about 2 dollars)

Manufacturing technology:

1. We make four holes for the sling along the edges of the helmet: two in the back of the head close to each other and two holes in the temporal part closer to the visor.
2. We pass the sling through the occipital openings from the outside inward, stretch it to the end and form a “triangle” out of the sling.
3. We pass each end of the sling through a 2-slot fastex, then we pass it through the half of the trident lock, thus forming the occipital part of the mount.
4. We bend the sling and thread the sling back through the 2-slot fastex, forming the temporal part of the mount.
5. Bring the ends of the lines out through the temporal openings.
6. We adjust on ourselves the right and left parts of the mount. To a greater extent, it is necessary to adjust the tension of the temporal ends. And also adjust the position of the trident lock. The lock should not be under the chin, but should be to the side. Accordingly, one of the sides will be longer and this is the side on which the trident of the castle is located. The lock latch should be on the short side.

7. Leads the sling from the short end outside the helmet into a 3-slot fastex and fastens it with threads. It will not be adjustable. It is important that this end goes behind the “triangle” of the lines at the back of the head.
8. From the outside, we pass the sling from the long end through a 3-slot fastex, as an adjusting one, i.e. dynamic.

9. To prevent the sling from sliding down the helmet from the outside, it is necessary to sew it to the “triangle”, therefore it was necessary to draw an unregulated end there.

The weight this sample 370 grams

Thus, in a construction helmet, we will be able to increase or decrease the tension of the chin strap. The cost of a helmet with a new adjustable mount will be about 6-7 dollars.

Addition:
1. Initially, the option to use a wide elastic band instead of a sling was tried. But it turned out to be ineffective, as the tension of the rubber straps presses on the jaw, and the rubber may not hold the helmet on the head due to its stretch properties.
2. In the sample under consideration, 2-slot triangular-shaped fastexes were used, which is difficult to find on sale separately. I gave them to the author good man from my old bike helmet. To summarize the occipital and temporal parts of the sling, an ordinary rectangular 2-slot fastex is suitable.
3. The author will be happy if this article helps someone to finalize their helmet. And also if the article and this technique will cause criticism and / or encourage enthusiasts to create new, possibly more advanced methods of fastening or improve this technique.
4. similar material The author has never met before. All ideas were from scratch.

    instead of explaining to people that it's just not safe to walk in this, you recommend. I have seen enough people who, in their opinion, do not have money for expensive equipment, but to drink beer. Nonsense is complete. Whoever wants will find the means

    I disagree with you fundamentally. I have acquaintances of instructors who still successfully go to the mountains on hikes even with 6 k.s., and believe me, they have been going since the time when Soviet Union. The construction helmet is quite strong and safe. In my opinion, half of the people go to the mountains in climbing helmets (there is such a definition according to the characteristics of qualities and properties) and at the same time they are not afraid. But the rock-climbing is designed only for small impacts on the terrain, but not for something big and heavy to fall on top of it. Now think - what was the construction helmet designed for? In order to withstand the impact of a brick that has fallen from high altitude on the builder's head, at least.
    Yes, I agree that the construction helmet is not as safe and durable as the same Petzl Ekrin Rock, but believe me, you have not yet seen everything that many go to the mountains in. Recently I saw a rookie at the training camp who went to the route in a helmet for playing baseball or something .. the helmet was made of thin flexible plastic material. It's good that the instructor noticed in time, before going out. So, in my opinion, let people wear construction helmets better than none at all. But at the same time, yes, to warn that a certified helmet from leading manufacturers is more reliable and more convenient.
