How to make a stand for a Christmas tree. DIY Christmas tree stand

There is not much time left until the New Year. Soon many will start thinking about installing a holiday tree. By the way, we talked about it in a previous article of the same name. But bad luck... I can’t find it old stand. We suggest that you do not waste time looking for it (you will find it later), but quickly make a new wooden cross for the Christmas tree with your own hands.

You will need:

  • bars (2 pcs.);
  • wood hacksaw;
  • drill with screwdriver and a set of drills of different diameters;
  • several screws;
  • small piece metal pipe according to the diameter of the tree trunk.

Let's get started

  1. First of all, treat each board well. Give them the desired length. Make sure that each end is level, otherwise skewing of the tree cannot be avoided.
  2. Prepare the timber for assembling the stand. Measure 0.5 lengths and cut a groove, its length will be equal to the width of the block, and its depth will not be less? thickness. Cut such grooves in 2 blanks.
  3. If you have PVA glue on hand, apply it to each groove. After it dries, additionally fasten the cross using self-tapping screws. This way you will be twice as safe from the fall of the tree. But do not drive the screws into the center of the future stand. There you still need to make a hole for the spruce trunk.
  4. After assembling the crosspiece, take measurements of the diameter of the lower part of the tree trunk. Select the appropriate drill bit and make an opening in the crosspiece. If the required diameter is not found, make a marking, drill small holes along it close to each other and the middle will fall out on its own. Install a pipe into the hole.

Well, the simplest wooden cross for a Christmas tree has been assembled with your own hands and is ready for use! Now all that remains is to install the forest guest and dress her up along with the kids. You can also make a metal stand, but we will talk about this in another article.

  • Even the most unsightly stand can be decorated so that it becomes invisible. Your imagination will tell you what to use for this.
  • Remember that the most basic characteristic of each of the stands, be it a wooden or metal cross, is stability!
  • Never place the New Year's beauty close to any flammable device.
  • Try not to leave the tree with the lights on overnight.

In order for the Christmas tree to remain in its proper place and be as stable as possible, it is necessary to use special tree stands. These devices help securely fix the Christmas tree, and in addition they can perform a decorative function and extend the life of the forest beauty.

From us you can buy a stand for a Christmas tree of any size. There are designs on sale that allow you to install both very small Christmas trees and tall trees, intended for installation outdoors or in large halls. The variety of models allows you to buy a Christmas tree stand at the best price. The price set for Christmas tree stands depends on the material of construction and decorative features.

In our catalog you can find simple cross stands, forged products, as well as stands decorated with figures New Year's characters. To keep your tree fresh longer, you can buy tree stands with reservoirs. By filling the container with water, you will provide the tree with additional nutrition and it will stay green longer.

The structures are designed to accommodate a specific height of the tree to ensure a stable position. And strong, durable materials are used to produce products.

How to make a stand for a Christmas tree? What are the options?

There is such a good one convenient option crosses for the Christmas tree.

You can, of course, just put sand in a bucket and put a Christmas tree in it, or you can make something original and interesting if you want. For this, we will need such available materials.

It all depends on the size of the tree, the larger the tree, the larger the cross should be. Now, we weld the coffee can to the plate.

To increase stability, you need to solder stiffeners to the can on three sides, as in the photo.

And we fix the wooden boards into a cross using glue.
All that remains is to secure the can with screws to the wooden crosspiece. We also screw in screws from three sides to secure the tree.

That's it, all that's left to do is fix the tree and decorate it to hide all the ugly places.

Now we have a large artificial spruce, but before we always bought a live New Year's tree, for which a metal stand was specially made from metal corners, welded in the shape of a cross, in the center of which a pipe was welded, the diameter of which was well suited to the thickness of the young spruce trunk. The height of the pipe is about 25-30 cm, so that the trunk of the tree is securely and steadily fixed in it. This entire metal structure was painted with green paint (the color can be any desired, especially since the stand is draped with something for a more aesthetic appearance anyway).

Now, of course, there are no problems - I took out the artificial “forest beauty”, collected and hung toys and other decorations. Looks like it's alive, but there is one significant drawback- Doesn't smell like pine. But we found a way out of the situation: we put small live spruce branches with a fresh pine aroma under the artificial Christmas tree. That’s when you really feel the New Year’s fairy-tale atmosphere of the wonderful holiday that we all love so much.

We make it very simple. Since the fall, I have always had soil for seedlings on my loggia. We put the Christmas tree in this soil. We expose the end of the tree trunk. The bucket of soil where we put the spruce is large. My husband also makes two clamps from wood. The clamps are also placed in the bucket. One end of the clamp rests against the wall of the bucket, and the other against the barrel. The New Year's beauty stands strong. I wrap the bucket in beautiful shiny paper. You can decorate it in another way, just show your imagination.

Wooden stand for Christmas tree

In general, it’s simple, inexpensive and beautiful. Yes, we also water the Christmas tree from time to time. That's why she doesn't shed her needles for a long time.

DIY Christmas tree stand

For a tree to stand well, it needs a good base.

The basis for a Christmas tree can be anything. For example, if you are a student, come up with a bucket in which bottles of water are placed in a circle, and the center should be empty.

As the picture shows:

Such a base, of course, is not very beautiful, but it is very affordable and everyone in the house will have the tools for this.

The main thing if you use this method is to properly cover the bucket of water so that no one can see what you are holding the tree on)

The most popular stand, which can be made from 2 boards and a pair of nails, is also suitable.

In order to make it, you need to cut a hole with a diameter the size of your tree trunk; the boards can be rounded at the ends so that no one hits.

It is better to place the Christmas tree in sand or earth + sand, then it can stand for quite a long time. I also have a bucket in which greenery grows on the loggia in the summer, and on New Year’s days it serves as a container with soil for the Christmas tree. Place the bucket with the Christmas tree upside down inside old stool, the tree is additionally fixed to it with a cord. Afterwards everything is covered with tinsel.

If you urgently need a stand, you can use a 5-liter plastic bottle, which needs to be cut into two parts. Paste into each other. A cylinder is inserted into the neck; this could be a suitable cosmetics bottle. Set up the Christmas tree, pour water. The plastic bottle is very light; you can add additional sand or stones to make it heavier.

I have never used a stand for a Christmas tree, because if the tree is alive, then the trunk must be in the water, but this does not happen with a stand. My option is this:

I take a metal bucket and put the Christmas tree in it, and along the edges I lay cobblestones, specially prepared in advance, on top I push the tree with slats, there are 4 of them, hammering them between the walls of the bucket...

The tree in such a bucket will not stand strong enough, so I tie four sticks to the bucket at an angle...

Then I fill it with cold water, add 2-3 teaspoons of sugar and a spoonful of vinegar (I once read it to make the tree last longer), and then add more every day cold water depending on how the level goes and after a while I add sugar...

If the tree is alive, then you need a bucket and water is needed as for flowers, usually, so that the bucket does not turn over, they put a weighting agent inside - stones, you can make wooden spacers on the bucket in the form of a cross, which will not allow the tree to fall, and at the bottom there will be stones in the bucket and the bucket will be hold on, for aesthetics we hide the bucket under a white cloth or cover it with cotton wool.

I have an artificial tree and everything is much simpler: attach a crosspiece to an old stool and insert the trunk of the tree and cover the entire stool with fabric, decorate it with tinsel, there is no smell, but you don’t have to throw away the tree after the holidays and there is no garbage - there are no needles either.

There is a bucket with stones on the balcony, in which we place the Christmas tree, pressing it between the stones. We add water to this bucket, the tree remains fresh and green for a long time. We drape the bucket with white cloth. True, this year we bought a stand with a simple design. An iron container is about three liters with three screws that are welded to it, the tree is clamped between them, water is poured into the container, this design certainly looks more aesthetically pleasing than a bucket with stones.

I usually put a Christmas tree or pine tree (it’s better, it almost doesn’t fall) in a bucket of sand. The trunk at the bottom must be cleared of bark and excess lower branches removed. Then I fill the bucket with sand, spill it with water, make a hole in the center and immerse the tree trunk in the bucket. To make it fit easier, you need to screw it in. It holds strong, and if you water it regularly, it lasts a long time.

If we remember our distant Soviet childhood, then we had an iron stand, otherwise I would call it the technical term “pipe in a pipe,” when the tree itself is inserted into a pipe of a smaller diameter, and water is poured into a pipe of a larger diameter so that the tree can stand longer in your house without losing your precious needles. Schematically, this stand looks like this:

This design is made of thick-walled pipes to weigh down the stand and provide normal stability for the stand. You can also make holes in the cross itself so that you can screw this stand to the floor, and this will already be a super-stable stand (if, of course, you want to spoil your floor).

Live christmas tree brings a holiday atmosphere and the smell of the forest into the house, but at the same time it causes a lot of headaches when it comes to installing it. In this material we will offer simple and functional solutions that will solve this problem once and for all. Check out five designs for a wooden stand for a Christmas tree - they can be easily made with your own hands using simple blanks and a minimum of tools.

Crosspiece for small and medium-sized Christmas trees

The first project is a classic wooden cross. Its main difference is the absence of a half-tree connection, which eliminates the need for complex markings, work with a chisel and subsequent hassle with adjusting the connection.

A reliable and neat cross is made of four simple blanks– two boards (60x15x2.5 cm) and two square scraps (15x15x2.5 cm).

We determine the place where the boards will intersect. In our case, we measure 22.5 cm from the end of each board.

Using a square, we apply markings.

We do the same with the second board: measure 22.5 cm from the end and apply markings.

We lay the boards along the marking lines and check the accuracy of the fit using a square.

We connect the crosspiece with four screws or self-tapping screws.

Along the edges top board We screw the supports from square scraps.

We apply cross markings to determine the center into which the main rotor will be screwed in or a wide through hole will be drilled.

Drill a pilot hole.

For small trees, mounting with a 120 mm through screw will be sufficient. If desired, you can use a feather drill to make a wide through hole of the required diameter; a depth of 5 cm is enough for the tree trunk to be stably positioned in the cross.

Glue the felt pads. They will protect the floor from scratches and add stability to the cross.

The next project is a simpler, but no less reliable version of the Christmas tree stand. A simple cross, assembled from four boards without unnecessary joints, will provide stable support for a tree of any size. Using a board with an uncut edge, the traditional question: how to cover the crosspiece will disappear by itself. The living edge will add decorativeness to this simple design, and make it a natural extension New Year's tree. After the holidays, the crosspiece elements can be easily disassembled and stored until next year.

From a pre-prepared board with one edge trimmed, we cut 4 pieces of the same length. We focus on the size of the tree: the larger it is, the longer the boards will be needed.

We drill guide holes in the faces and ends of the workpieces to avoid splitting when tightening the screws.

We assemble the structure on a flat plane and tighten it with screws. We drill a guide hole for the screw that will secure the tree trunk.

A simple and expressive style cross is ready.

The third project is a simple and sustainable wooden stand, which can be adjusted to any barrel diameter. The crosspiece consists of three supporting elements. Optimal length each part – 250 mm. Two parallel grooves are milled in the face of each of them. The ends of the boards are cut at an angle of 60°, and shallow guide holes for screws with wide washers are drilled into them. It is convenient to store the collapsible elements of the cross in a compact stack until the next holiday.

Milling grooves according to pre-applied markings.

High stand for large Christmas trees

Four elements, cut with a jigsaw according to the template suggested below, will easily turn into a beautiful and stable stand that can support a Christmas tree 2.5 meters or more in height. The structure is tightened using screws screwed into pre-prepared holes, and can also be easily disassembled without taking up extra space during storage. You can place a reservoir of water under the stand so that the spruce stands even longer and continues to fill the house with its unique scent.

New Year's holidays always come “unexpectedly”. People prepare for them in advance, plan a bunch of all kinds of purchases and acquisitions, but quite often they forget about such a “little thing” - how to install. It’s one thing if it’s artificial and comes with a stand. It’s another matter when you bought a living forest beauty and brought it into the house. What's next? Sooner or later the question arises - how to set it? “Dad, think of something” - there’s no escape from this. But make it in advance good stand, which will serve faithfully for many years, is not at all difficult.

How to make a Christmas tree stand

You can make a stand using the “bench” method. You will need four short boards (25 cm each, 15 mm thick) and two identical boards 35 cm each. Metal or duralumin corners are attached to the ends of short boards, which, in turn, are attached to long boards. In this case, there should be a slight indentation from their edges. The result is two small benches. They should be connected to each other. Small benches will act as supports for the entire structure.

The center of long boards is drilled with a diameter slightly larger than the diameter of the tree trunk. The end of the tree trunk can be additionally attached to the bottom board, or secured with a bolt screwed into the trunk along the axis of the tree. Main criterion assessment of your DIY Christmas tree stand - the Christmas tree should be in a stable position vertical position, and under no circumstances should it swing. That's it, now you can put up and decorate the Christmas tree.

Instead of boards they are sometimes used wooden blocks. They must be the same size, otherwise the stand will turn out crooked. In both bars, a sample of material (rectangular chamfer) the size of the width of the bar is made strictly in the center. It is necessary to calculate the depth of the chamfer so that after the bars are placed on top of each other “crosswise”, the resulting structure does not wobble. If the stand has a tilt, then the chamfers need to be a little deeper.

You can also make a stand from a metal pipe. Its diameter is taken based on the largest Christmas tree (usually from 5 to 8 cm). The pipe is welded to a metal plate that will serve as the base of the stand. If possible, the edges of the plate should be rounded to prevent injury to anyone. If the welding is done efficiently and ensures the tightness of the pipe piece, then water can be poured into the stand. At the same time, the Christmas tree will last longer and will delight children throughout the winter holidays. It is recommended to add a sugar solution or a little glycerin to the water.

As a last resort, you can use some kind of bucket. Sand is poured into an empty bucket with a layer of 10 centimeters, then a Christmas tree is placed in the bucket, leveled, and then sand is added to top edge buckets.

The specified dimensions of the material are selected based on the height of the tree, as well as its “massiveness”. You should not forget that the Christmas tree will also be decorated with garlands. And this is an additional load on the base.

The Christmas tree stand is disguised in various ways. Some people cover the base of the tree with cotton wool, others with gauze - you are limited only by your imagination.

DIY wooden Christmas tree stand, drawings, assembly procedure and product description.

If we look at the isometric cross-sectional view of the stand, we can clearly see the structure of the product and all its components:

  1. Leg.
  2. Base.
  3. Fastening elements.
  4. Glass jar 0.5 (l).
The drawing of the Christmas tree stand is shown in the figure.

Material for making: moisture resistant plywood thickness 20 (mm).

LEG

Performs a dual function:

  • serves as a base support
  • fixes the position of the tree trunk relative to the central hole in the base

BASE

Guides and centers the tree trunk relative to the through hole. The diameter of the hole limits the thickness of the tree trunk to 40 (mm).

FASTENING ELEMENTS

Hardware products from the standard GOST series:
  • pin M6 x 70 (mm) for smooth holes
  • cap nut M6

Reference:
Instead of metal fasteners, you can use wooden dowels 8 x 60 (mm), which are installed in the holes of the parts using glue.

GLASS JAR

Standard product with a capacity of 0.5 (l).
order of assembly of structural parts according to the proposed drawings:
  1. We cut out parts from moisture-resistant plywood along the contours indicated in the drawings.
  2. Align the end surfaces in the parts.
  3. Mark the center of the holes and drill through holes simultaneously in two mating parts “leg - base”.
  4. Smooth out sharp edges.
  5. We polish the parts and coat them with wood antiseptic.
  6. We apply paint and varnish decorative coating, which will go well with the bark or needles of a forest beauty.
  7. Using fasteners or wooden dowels, we connect all the manufactured parts together.
  8. We insert the trunk of a Christmas tree or pine into the hole in the base.
  9. Fill a glass jar with water.

Advice:
The lower edge of the trunk should be at a distance of 5...10 (mm) from inner surface bottom of the jar.
Pour water just below the top rim of the jar.

As water is consumed glass jar, we are constantly replenishing it. To do this, move the jar as far as possible to the side, free access to the neck of the jar, add water and put the jar in its original position. Thus, the cut tree is constantly fed with water, the life of which continues for a long time, the smell does not disappear, and the needles do not fall off.
