Making a label in Photoshop

• If you do not have the program on your computer, download it from any Internet site. Install it on your computer.
• Find the graphic structure you need on the web. There are many options - from the texture of cardboard or crumpled paper to landscapes.
• Let's start creating a new document in Photoshop, where we load the downloaded texture. This texture should be moved to the new image at the same time.
• Create a label shape on a separate layer. We draw the outline of the shape using the Pen Tool - a pen. At the drawing stage, temporarily make the layer invisible.
• When the contour is ready, select it and, if necessary, give it a different name.
• On the keyboard, press the U key and draw, with Shift held down at this time, a circle in the place of the label where you can later cut it out to attach the label to the product by a thread or ribbon.
• Select the Direct Selection tool and select the created path.
• After this procedure, drag it onto the texture.
• Select Free Transform - free transformation tool.
• Hold down the Shift key on the keyboard and stretch the outline along the texture to the required size.
• Engage in the transformation of the path into a selection. Also add a layer mask. After that, you need to go to Layer Style - layer styles section and set the following parameters:
  • Drop Shadow with Multiply Blending Mode
  • Bevel and Emboss with Inner Bevel style.
• Create a new layer and select the Elliptical Marquee Tool from the toolbar.
• Create an elliptical selection around the previously created circle.
• Fill this selection with the appropriate color.
• Now, as previously explained, we need to change the blend mode of the layers. Choose Multiply.
• After the change, reduce the transparency of the layer to 70%.
• Let's start editing the label. You can draw strings using the Pen Tool and applying the Stroke option to them.
• Also, do not forget to write any text on the label or insert a logo, a photo on the bottle label that characterizes your products.

For self-manufacturing bottle labels required:

1. Photoshop or any other photo editor.
2. Little to medium skills in photoshop or any other photo editor.

1. I recommend buying a bottle right away on which you will glue the label. You need to know the dimensions of the label. It will be very sad when the created label cannot be stuck on the bottle or the old label will be visible. Ideally, it is necessary that the new one completely covers the old one. Therefore, buy a bottle and take measurements with a ruler. Create in Photoshop new document. Standard size champagne labels this is 12 cm by 8.2 cm. I recommend making the file a little larger in order to cover the old label with a completely new one.

2. Fill with any background and insert a photo.

3. You can find a lot of clipart in png format on the Internet. With transparent background. And decorate the label by inserting different flowers and frames into it.

4. Add text. You can play with colors, fonts for better readability.

5. For the backdrop, we do the same. Come up with original text. The design can be taken from the already made front label. So even better - they should be in the same style.

6. It is more difficult with a collar. This is not a boring rectangle and it is already difficult to create a template from scratch. A higher level of Photoshop proficiency is required. You can copy this photo and circle it, and then resize it.

7. Create an empty sheet of A4 dimensions (21 cm by 29.7 cm). It is important to set the resolution to 300.

Open the finished label and transfer them to this sheet. Here you can check the dimensions, correct them and adjust them one last time before printing.

Print your own bottle labels.

The label will not be completely free. You have to go broke on paper. We use Lomond glossy paper. The paper is good. Photos are bright and colorful. I did not notice any problems when printing. Sold in packs of 25 A4 sheets.

If you have a photo printer, you can print yourself. This is the most convenient option. Otherwise, you will have to look for a photo studio where they will undertake to print. There may be problems with this. Firstly, you ask to print on your own photo paper and the “printer operator” can simply send you and refuse to print on some unknown paper. Secondly, you, having made this label yourself, and did not order it from a photo studio for 500 rubles. They might as well not print. It's not good, but it happens.

The only disadvantage of such production is that it is not water resistant bottle labels. It is enough to drop a drink on it and it will immediately deteriorate. This is easily solved. The label needs to be laminated. Lamination must be done on one side. It is clear that having laminated on both sides it is somewhat difficult to glue it later. It is possible to laminate with the most common laminate that most photo shops have, but it is thick and the label will bend under tension. We usually laminate to laminate in rolls. It is thin, perfectly protects the label and does not try to bend it and tear it off the bottle. But to be honest, we do not laminate labels. I'm more scared. And without lamination, the photo holds up very well.

• composition of raw materials;

Such a label can not be glued, but tied to the neck with coarse twine or attached with an elastic band. Information can be applied to it both by hand and using a printer or hand stamp. The use of such markings greatly simplifies the work of the moonshiner.

Creating a gift label in graphic editors

The project uses two editors - Xara and photoshop. The fact is that each program has its own strengths. Xara Xtreme Pro ideal for working with text and vector, photoshop CS 6 strong at processing raster objects. Therefore, the colorful background was created in one program, and the text design in another.

Mounting the background in Photoshop

To get started, measure the jar and draw the unfolded label. Let's say our size is 33 by 8.5 cm. Let's create a document according to these parameters. Please note: Image resolution is 300 dpi. If you make more pixels, the document will be clumsy, if you make less, the image quality will drop.

Divide the image into multiple segments. Take a closer look at any can of instant drink: most likely, the label is divided into parts. On some sections, the name, trademark is large. On others, a detailed description of the product is given. In this project, the sticker is divided into four alternating parts for text and an image with a title. How to make markup:

• create a new layer (menu Layers – New – Layer);
• with a tool Rectangular area select a rectangle and fill it with the desired color;
• repeat the operation as many times as necessary.

Since the colored rectangles are on different layers, their width can be adjusted if necessary (using Transformation).

Decorate the sweep with gradients and themed images

Our project uses blue tones and a fragment of Aivazovsky's painting. To make a gradient only in the required area, you need to press ctrl and click on the layer icon (in our case, clicked Layer 2 copy 2). Object selection is activated. Create a new layer, while the created selection goes to this layer (we have Layer 7). Calling gradient editor(tool Gradient) and create a gradient in the selected area. In our case, a blue-yellow template is used, in which a paler shade is selected for the middle color.

Insert fragments of photographs or paintings. With a tool Rectangular area select the parts of the image you like, copy ( ctrl+V) and insert into the development ( ctrl+C).

Decorate the background to your liking, add vintage details or other meaningful objects. For example, find a painted ancient scroll with a seal. Place the drawing fragment on the development. Using the tool Eraser make a smooth transition from the edge of the scroll to the background. It is better to use an eraser with a soft edge and a large enough size.

To continue working, save the image as PNG. Open the resulting file in Xara.

Adding Text and Vector Elements

Decorative lines. You can delimit the zones of the label with colored stripes.

1. Tool RectangleTool(Rectangle) expand two vertical stripes- wide and narrow.
2. Paint with any color (one click on the palette at the bottom of the desktop).
3. Copy stripes (( ctrl+V, ctrl+C) and install labels on the borders of the multi-colored sections.

Name design

Activate TextTool and type in the text you want. You can assign the desired style to the name with one click in the font gallery.

In our version, the name of coffee is inscribed in a red hexagon and curved over the surface of the figure. Such a "logo" is created as follows.

1. Created a rectangle, filled it with color.

Thus, by colorizing and deforming text, experimenting with fills and transparency, creating new vector shapes, decorate your label.

Logos. It's easy to create a simple logo or trademark in Xara. In our project, when creating a family logo, a ready-made vector drawing was used the globe. You can place labels on an arc as follows:

• pull out horizontal line using the pencil tool on the toolbar;
• immediately activate the Text tool and place the cursor at the beginning of the line;
• type the desired text (make sure that the letters "join" the line, otherwise the text will not bend);
• activate shapeEditorTool(Editor form) is the toolbar button next to the pencil;
• warp the line with text up or down.

Print the finished layout and stick it on the jar. Most suitable option- self-adhesive paper with subsequent cold lamination.
