Vikings wolves of midgard max level. Walkthrough Vikings: Wolves of the Midgard

The top-down action RPG Vikings: Wolves of Midgard has five character classes to choose from. Each of them is associated with one of the famous Norse Gods:

  • Tyr is the one-armed god of war. Accordingly, the character will fight with one-handed weapons, but with the use of a shield in order to use the gifts of Tyr.
    • Loki - God of cunning. A character of this class will be able to use active and passive skills while using dual weapons (two one-handed axes, swords or hammers) or without it at all.
    • Thor is God armed with a hammer, spewing lightning and thunder. The character will be able to use the gifts of Thor only when using two-handed axes, swords or hammers.
    • Skadi - Goddess of the hunt. Passive and active perks can only be used when using a bow.
    • Odin is the God of knowledge, poetry, war, witchcraft, who lives in the halls of Valhalla. His gifts can be used by a character wielding a staff.

If you start the game with characters of different classes, then their main differences will be the tree of gifts and the weapons used. In the characteristics (parameters) window, almost everything is identical, with the exception of indicators related to damage, etc. They change only because the character uses a different weapon. As for health reserves, stamina, etc., they are the same for all heroes.

    Gift System
You can see the gifts of all characters in the corresponding window. Initially, each hero is given 1-2 available skills, while the remaining 18-19 remain blocked. As you level up your character, you can unlock new skills.

After the skill is unlocked, you will receive a certain bonus from it - active or passive. The amount of this bonus depends on the activation level of the perk. Each gift can be first, second or third level. In the description of the gifts, you can see what bonuses it gives and what level the character must be in order to automatically increase them.

For example, the Fury of Tyr gift is active and grants 4%, 8%, or 12% critical strike chance while in Fury mode. At the same time, to activate the first, second and third levels, you will need to increase the character's level to 1, 5 and 10, respectively.

    The best gifts of Tyr
The character has three active and 18 passive gifts. At the same time, two active perks were initially opened - Tyr's Fury and Shoulder Strike. As a result, we recommend focusing on increasing health, armor, critical chance and its value.

In the first half of the tree, you should definitely take a bunch:

    Chance of critical damage.
    Critical damage.
Firstly, you will increase the chance of dealing such damage, and, secondly, you will increase this damage. Further, we recommend taking in general cases:

    Health.
    Armor bonus.
    Furious Critical Strike.
    Strength in weakness.

    Loki's Best Gifts
Loki has 6 active and 15 passive gifts. At the same time, two active skills are initially available - "Loki's Fury" and "Throw into battle".

    Critical damage.
    Strength in weakness.
    Bonus to blood.
    Attack speed.
    Death blow.
    Theft of life.

    Thor's Best Gifts
Thor has 6 active and 15 passive gifts. Initially, two active ones are available - "Rage of Thor" and "Excision".

    Blood rage.
    Gift of Fury.
    Furious defense.
    Mage's Wrath.
    Long fury.
    Healing rage.
Chain Fury is one of the best perks in the game!

    The best gifts of Skadi
Skadi has 6 active and 15 passive gifts. Initially, you can use Skadi's Fury and Kick.

    Chilling blow.
    Boots Skadi.
    The art of shooting.
    Aura of rage.
    Frost attack.
You can also add perks related to critical damage or other effects on enemies (such as knockback) here.

    The best gifts of Odin
In total, Odin has 6 active and 15 passive gifts. Thor's Wrath and Flamethrower will be available at the start of the game.

Playing as a character of this class seems to be the most difficult. The fact is that you can only gain incredible benefits if you not only wield a staff, but also wear fabric armor, which has the least protection. In this case, choose the following perks related to this armor, protection and runes:

    Health bonus.
    Strong fabric.
    Rune Collector.
    Odin's endurance.
    Odin's Loyalty Program.
    The invulnerability of the Father.
    Skin of the Allfather.
Of course, it is worth taking the "Might of the Allfather" and perks related to crits and rage - but only in the second place!

Life experience tells us that the first impression is the most important, even if not always the right one. If the game cannot capture the player in the first 30 minutes, if it bores and annoys with plagiarism from the very beginning, then hardly any self-respecting gamer will continue passing. Such a product is tritely difficult to take seriously, you quickly forget about it.

However, our world is contradictory. If you look at a mediocre gaming product from the other side, give it a second chance, pay attention to other aspects, it may suddenly turn out that everything is not so bad. Vikings - Wolves of Midgard personally reminded me of such cases.

The hack'n'slash genre has never been innovative. Everything is so bad that among the people all the games of such people are called in honor of one famous horned demon. It's not strange - it's hard to somehow turn the genre of endless grind and come up with something new. But this is not a reason for laziness - progress should not stand still.

Games Farm, the developers of Vikings - Wolves of Midgard, are well aware of this and, using all their accumulated experience with the Action-RPG genre (they have previously worked on the inexpressive Shadows: Heretic Kingdoms), they decided to experiment.

The real juice of hack'n'slash always lies in the combat system. Here Vikings - Wolves of Midgard is seriously different from all its counterparts in the genre in many details and trifles. In hack'n'slash, you always have to kill entire armies of almost harmless dummies that are not able to give at least some rebuff to the player. But our client has a different opinion on this matter - any battle with a more or less serious group of enemies can have fatal outcome if you act carelessly. And if you also set a difficult level of difficulty, then each battle will become a real test. Hardcore lovers will have a place to roam, for sure.

Vikings - Wolves of Midgard was clearly inspired by Dark Souls. This is felt in many game mechanics. Enemies deal a lot of damage, so you have to dodge somersaults all the time. The health recovery system also migrated from there - there is a bank of treatment with a limited number of charges and wells scattered around the map where you can replenish an empty bottle.

In addition, Vikings - Wolves of Midgard is made with an emphasis on gamepad play, so the classic controls of KIM are quite unusual compared to other representatives of the genre. It is quite adequate, but an experienced nephalem may feel obvious discomfort in the first minutes of the game. You also need to get used to climatic conventions - if you run on a winter map, then from time to time you will need to warm yourself by the fire, and everything is in this style.

Individually, all this is trifles, but taken together, it makes Vikings - Wolves of Midgard a fairly fresh product, one might even say, original. However, everything is far from perfect. Pretty in the game a small amount of interesting abilities and skills (they are tied to the type of weapon, just like in Victor Vran), monotonous enemies and an annoying crafting and trading system.

Oh yes, the crafting system. The search for the best artifacts and endless mathematical analysis is almost the sweetest pastime for fans of the genre. But in Vikings - Wolves of Midgard this is implemented very poorly. No some interesting system creation of items or their further improvement. Everything is extremely simple, from that to horror boring. Sometimes this system just breaks all interest in the game. Real life case: buildings here need to be improved, investing a huge amount of resources in order to be able to make better equipment. Once I decided to spend some money and upgraded the forge, and then crafted a gorgeous spear with excellent characteristics. Satisfied, he went to the drakkar to go on a story mission. It turned out that for the further passage of the campaign, it is necessary to improve the ship by investing an astronomical amount of resources. I, being without a shit in my pocket, was forced to go on the most boring grind missions and perform the same tasks several times in a row in order to build this damn longship. Such incidents should not be.

The game also has problems with another important aspect of the genre - multiplayer. When my valiant companion @ILYA and I were sent to conquer the northern tribes, our main enemies ended up not being adversaries, but the game itself. Terrible internet connection system raises questions and a flood of abuse. Instead of a game, we got a slideshow, and the hard difficulty level turned into an incredible easy one. In addition, the one-on-one cooperative campaign repeats the single one. In general, if you decide to play, then play alone - do not repeat our mistakes.

Vikings - Wolves of Midgard can grab the attention of gamers with its setting. The adventures of the horned demons of Midgard always excite the blood of the audience, which is why the image of a stern bearded Viking is so popular in the gaming industry. At first glance, everything is fine with the narration and atmosphere: the Vikings are in place, they all shout something about Thor and Odin, snow is everywhere, wolves. But the developers went further and mixed so many things that it became difficult to take the plot seriously. Here you have a repetition of the feat of Beowulf, and an army of trolls, goblins with giants, and the approaching Ragnarok, which, according to the laws of the genre, the player must stop. Most of all, the invaders from the South cause emotion - the Roman Empire, mowing down under the army of the cross, led by bishops. It feels like the development of the plot has not progressed beyond the initial brainstorming. It is worth noting that all this does not prevent Vikings from being an atmospheric game with a pleasant authentic soundtrack. Ragnar Lothbrok would approve.

The biggest cognitive dissonance is main character(or heroine). We, the players, are used to being given control over some super strong characters that can fight alone against a huge number of enemies. The protagonist of Vikings - Wolves of Midgard is different from everyone - he knows that he is incredibly strong, and constantly boasts of it. He taunts his enemies, drags their name into the dirt just because he can. In battle, he constantly shouts self-confident phrases to the horror, such as: “I am invulnerable!” or “All will fall before me!”. He knows that his every breath, step and gesture changes the vector of times and the future of the whole world. Tell him that his tribe could use allies, and he will only laugh in your face and go to kill and rob potential friends. The protagonist loves himself so much that it feels like he is already planning to build a temple in honor of himself. The Viking analogue of Duke Nukem is terribly funny and charismatic. True, unfortunately, the hero's customization is not encouraging - there is too little choice of available hairstyles and facial types.

Walkthrough Vikings: Wolves of Midgard.

Chapter 1. Ambush on Jotun.

After creating a character and selecting his class (God), start a new game in Vikings: Wolves of Midgard, confirming one of the four difficulty levels (in our case, "Warrior"). By the way, when creating a character, you can activate the Valhalla mode - in this case, your first death will lead to the death of the main character (you will have to create a new one - no saves).

During the mission, you need to kill 30 Tomte and find 3 iron skulls.

Move around the location, killing enemies. Just click on them LMB. Use rolls to dodge. To roll, press Space or W, S, A, D. Stamina is consumed.

As you move through the village, destroy wooden barrels and wagons to collect gold and wood.

Do not rush to move through the location. Follow closer to the right edge of the screen to find the first chest, inside of which lies an iron skull (1/3).

After meeting the first giant, keep to the right side of the map. Behind the fence near the trees is a barely noticeable second chest. Open it to get an iron skull (2/3).

The healing system in the game is unusual: you use one of the healing totems that you can find or buy from merchants. Each totem has a certain amount of charges and efficiency. After you use Heal (Tab), the number of charges will decrease by one. You can restore these charges at the Altar of Healing.

By the way, you will find the first such altar on the left, on the territory of the village. Use it after destroying several Tomte. From the altar, go down and to the right, to the marker. Rescue Heldebrand from Tomte. A man will join your squad! Just above its original location is the third chest - an iron skull (3/3).

Go to the upper left corner of the map to save Helga from Tomte. Together with two characters, return to the altar of healing, climb the stairs and go through the door that the opponents tried to break down earlier.

Reward:

Rune Algiz.
Blood 200.
Tree 30.
Gold 220.
Iron 7.

Chapter 2.1. Dangerous neighbors.

After talking with Wayland, go to the left side of the map and find the altar. Donate 200 blood to level up. The level of the character in the game is increased exclusively in this way.

End of Yokul
Follow the gate on the right upper corner maps and go to the desired location. This will start the next task.

You will have three additional challenges:

Find 3 iron skulls.
Kill two Jotuns.
Destroy 10 Yokul idols.

In this location, you can freeze. Under the health bar in the lower left corner of the screen, a blue bar gradually fills up. If it becomes full, then you will start taking damage. To avoid this, you will need to periodically stand by the fires - they are marked on the map with yellow markers.

Idols of Yokul are marked with blue circles, chests with skulls are green, levers for raising the bridge to the fourth precious chest in the location are black, the location of Jotuns is light blue, the chest with the artifact is red.

Thus, destroy the idols and Jotuns, collect the skulls from the chests, find and activate five levers and take the artifact.

Follow the marker into the cave and get ready for battle.

How to defeat Yokul in the ice cave?
The fight is pretty simple. In its first part, Yokul will create ice spheres and explode them at the points indicated on the location. You need to avoid these points if you don't want to stay frozen for two seconds.

Periodically stand on the yellow circles to keep warm. When killing wolves, don't forget to attack Yokul's throne on which it stands. After the destruction of the throne, attack Yokul himself, who, by the way, can go down to you until the destruction of the throne. We recommend attacking the throne in rage mode in order to destroy it faster.

Talisman of Skadi.
Rope belt.
Rune Hagalaz.
550 blood.
620 gold.
90 wood.
20 iron.

Chapter 2.2. old enemy

In this task, you have to capture the Swanung village and kill their Jarl (boss). This settlement is an impregnable fortress, so you will have to work hard to find the entrance inside.

Additional mission tests include:

Search for 3 iron skulls.
Killing 15 Houndmasters.
Destroy 10 Swanung banners.

As always, the map does not show you the places where you need to look for all these items. And since the location is even larger than in the End of Yokul quest, it is very easy to miss the right items.

In the screenshot below you can see the designations of the test items: red circles - chests with iron skulls, blue circles - the location of the Houndmasters (13 out of 15, the other two are obvious), green circles - the location of the banners of Swanung, the yellow circle - a chest hidden in the grass, inside of which there is an accessory "Gusli".

As for the passage of the location as such, then you need to go to left side. You can destroy small wooden barricades, as well as towers with archers. Opponents will appear here, actively using shields - you need to act against them differently: either run back and wait for them to open up, or wait for their attack without doing anything, or roll behind them. Even if you decide to freeze the enemy, do not forget that the shield will protect him from attacks from the front.

The iron gate will not open, so advance to the swamps on the left. A little higher and to the right there will be wooden trash, which you can destroy and get into the territory of the fortress. So get to the place of transition to the house of the Jarl of the Svanungs.

How to kill Jarl Swanung?
The boss will not offer you anything supernatural. First you have to kill two spearmen with shields. Do it without wasting energy.

As always, it is advisable to stock up on energy before the start of the battle so that you can activate the "Rage" mode.

Warriors are marked with red circles, iron skull chests with green circles, Yarnung banners with blue circles, and a chest with a talisman in yellow.

One of the iron skull chests is located at the top of the swamp. There is a small passage inside the alcove, invisible in the normal location. Be careful.

As for the passage of the plot, you will first need to get along the linear route to the gate, which, by the way, will be locked. Several strong enemies are waiting for you in front of the gate, so look for the altar of God nearby in the round square.

Go to the left of the gate, to the swamps. After destroying all opponents, make your way to the left to climb the snow-covered hill.

Be careful here, because there is only one fire, plus the distances are large and you can easily freeze.

Get to the cave and go inside. After a warning from the Yarnung trappers, carefully go around the spikes and climb up the wooden scaffolding against the wall in the background. Do not hurry! If you want to find an additional talisman that will be very useful in the fight with the boss of this location, then pay attention to the three glyphs applied to the wall on the right, where there is no bridge. They will need to be entered on stone slabs familiar to you.

There is an interaction point on the wall in the background - click to destroy the stones and open a passage. Get to the locked door with a four-digit code above it. Enter it on the stone slabs on the left.

Note. This code is optional, since you don't need the door on the right, but if so, you will deprive yourself of the opportunity to get the Hel talisman.

Go to the opened room, take the loot from the chest, including the new talisman, and then kill the enemies.

Go back and down. You just have to get through the village, where there will be even more enemies. And then you have a boss fight.

How to kill the Iron Guardian?
This opponent is much stronger than all the previous ones.

You can see the following symbols: blue circles - chests with iron skulls, red circles - troll idols, green circles - troll witches.

In addition, at the location you can find one part of two artifact items - a sword and a shield.

When you are in the troll cave, keep to the left. At the top there will be a passage leading to a dead end. Here you have to fight one of the troll witches with high HP and immunity to darkness. After killing her, you will get the head of the Mjolnir artifact one-handed hammer.

As for the part of another artifact item, the shield, after leaving the cave, go along the left path and turn left at the first turn. On the side, towards the top of the screen, there will be a hidden passage. Destroy two logs and open the chest to find the enarms from the artifact heavy shield "Priven".

The passage of the location itself will not be difficult - you just need to break obstacles on the way, kill huge trolls (using the Hel talisman) and move towards the boss.

When leaving the cave, you will need to solve a simple puzzle - use the levers on the left and right to move the lava flow to the buckets closest to them. The stone will go up.

How to kill Scully?

The mechanics of the fight are utterly simple - Scully either runs up and tries to knock you down, or jumps up when you are close to stun, or attacks with sweeping movements of her club. In addition, cobblestones will fall on you from above.

In addition, at the location there is another chest with another talisman, which is called "Heimdall's Talisman". It frightens targets and deals shadow damage. To find it, when you leave the territory of the settlement and find yourself near the shore, then go up and to the right. Find the pier here and go to the ship, where the chest is located.

In the first case (the marker on the left side of the map) you will need to kill a huge troll with over 13,000 HP. This is not easy to do, so prepare for battle by gathering the energy of rage. As a reward, you will receive the legendary Ring of the Nibelungen.

In the second case, you will just need to search the fourth precious box on the map. It will contain the legendary talisman of Hoder.

Based on the quest, move to the checkpoint and turn the mechanism clockwise to open the passage. Follow the goal, periodically looking into the caves to bring down the poisoning.

The next gate will be locked and the mechanism broken. You need to find three parts of the mechanism. Go first to the left and kill Jotun in the cave, from which the first part will fall out. Looking ahead, we note that all three parts drop out of Jotuns (who are the targets in one of the tests). One way or another, go through the markers and kill the enemies, collecting all the details.

Unlock the gate and follow the location boss. Grindil will decide to check you again. Do the same as last time - attack, dodge, destroy healing totems. When Grindil is invisible, avoid the green circles while dealing with the trolls.

If you win, you will receive a reward and an anvil of Jotuns. With this anvil, it will be possible to improve the gunsmith, and thanks to this, the blacksmith who makes things.

Upon returning to the village, a surprise awaits you - the merchant has already laid out his goods and is ready to cooperate with you.

Quest reward:
The legendary talisman of Loki.
barbarian idol.
Runa Ingvaz.
2900 blood.
9100 gold.
1300 wood.
270 iron.

Chapter 5.2. Flotnar - Liberation of the Flotnar clan

In this task, you will be asked to pass the following tests:

Find 3 iron skulls.
Rescue prisoners from 5 detention spaces.
Destroy 5 Vanir Temples.
All these objects are shown in the screenshots below: red circles - chests, blue circles - captives, green circles - temples of the Vanirs.

As for the passage itself, then you first have to walk along the coast, destroying crabs. Giant sand crabs are worth killing just like shield warriors.

But that is not all! At the location, you can find two pieces of artifact equipment.

Pay attention to the iron grate in the only cave in the location (not counting the last one with a portal). To open this grate, you need a key. You will find a rusty key inside the chest, which is located on a boat tied up near the shore.

Destroy the pole to make the boat sail to the right. Then pull out the rusty key from the chest and return to the metal grate. Click on it to open it. After killing opponents, you can get the blade of the Lavatein artifact two-handed ax from the chest.

Another piece of artifact equipment is the Priven artifact heavy shield cone. To find him, you need to kill the Crusader, the location of which you can see in the screenshot below (the Crusader has already been killed, but he was in the place where the character is standing).

As for the actual passage of the game, here you should go through four outposts and clear them of enemies. When the bridge is raised, then go back a little and go to the right. Get to the cave entrance. Move through the portal to another cave and go to the Last Arena.

ATTENTION! There may be a bug here - you kill all the mobs, but nothing happens. In this case, just exit to the main menu and load the last save - it will be the place before the Last Arena. Go to the Final Arena and die at the hands of a huge troll. When you do this, the same save will automatically load. Go to the Arena and this time kill all the enemies. As soon as the last mob is dead, a window will automatically appear announcing the end of the mission (you will see a reward).

Quest reward:

Legendary belt of great blacksmiths.
Imperial mace.
Runa Ingvaz.
900 blood.
10,300 gold.
1500 wood.
300 iron.

Chapter 6.2. Ring of Sigurd

In this mission, you need to take away his ring from Sigurd. Looking ahead, we note that, unlike Odin's ring, the main character will give this item to Grindila without a choice.

Three tests will be available to you:

Find 3 iron skulls.
Kill 30 whiters.
Destroy 6 menhirs.
Stone structures are raised under the menhirs - something in the spirit of troll idols, etc.

Chests with skulls are marked with red circles, and menhirs are yellow.

In addition, at the location you can find a secret passage to a strong enemy, defeating which you can get the second part of the Skadi Longbow artifact - the shoulders.

As for the passage of the mission itself, it consists of three stages. At each stage, you will need to open a passage to the next barrow. To do this, approach the blocked transition and memorize the code combination of characters (as usual).

In the first case, two stone discs will be on the left, in secluded niches, and the other two will be on the right. So from left to right and set the correct combination.

In the second case, everything is the same, just there will be more of these same niches.

In the third case, everything will be more complicated. You need to not only remember the code combination, but also pay attention to the position in which the characters are in this combination. For example, if earlier the arrow was up, this time it is directed down.

The same applies to stone disks - if earlier it was necessary to place symbols at the top of the disks, now the disks will be completely open and they must be rotated so that the desired symbols (in the correct order) are directed correctly.

The solution is this (on the map, move from one disk to another from left to right): arrow at the bottom of the disk, F at the top of the disk, X at the bottom of the disk, |X| on the right side of the disk. If you do everything right, the passage will open.

After collecting all the items, go to the Last Arena.

How to defeat Sigurd?

To destroy this boss, you have to act carefully. First, Sigurd does not leave the central circle. Secondly, when you stand on a circle, the scale of darkness under the health scale begins to fill.

The first chest with an iron skull is hidden in an alcove inside the cave, behind wooden planks. Two other chests are hidden in a corner inside the buildings from wooden planks on the territory of the fortress. Their location is shown in the screenshots above.

No artifacts or legendary items not at the location.

According to the story, move to the forge, where there will be gates closed with two bolts. On the right side of the gate, find the first lever, then go left, and climb up so that you are on the left side of the locked gate, at the top. There will be a second lever here.

Get to the next closed gate, go down and to the left, on wooden wall. Here is the ballista. Shoot it at the gate to destroy it and open a passage for yourself.

It remains to get to the Bishop of the Seas.

How to kill the Bishop of the Seas?

The fight will be easy enough - avoid the white circles on the ground, attack the Bishop when he doesn't have a defensive orb. The enemy does not have much HP, so the battle will not drag on for long.

Quest reward:

Njord's legendary talisman.
Honor Air.
Rune Evaz.
3800 blood.
12,800 gold.
1900 wood.
380 iron.

Chapter 7.2. Simul Lair

To start this story quest, use the portal in your settlement.

You will be asked to pass three additional tests:

Find 3 iron skulls.
Destroy 3 menhirs.
Kill 3 dwarven defenders.

The first Iron Skull Chest is on the left side of the arena, where you will meet the first Guardian Doorg. The first menhir is also located there.

But the chest is hidden from view. Pay attention to the corner stone wall to see the slab and a small, blue-glittering hole. Destroy the stone slab to find the first chest. This is perhaps the most difficult of all chests with iron skulls on this level.

The screenshots below indicate the location of all other items and objects: red circles - chests with iron skulls, yellow circles - menhirs, green circles - guardian doors.

In addition, you can see a white circle that indicates the location of the chest with the new legendary talisman "Braga". He is able to put enemies to sleep.

Finally, the purple circle marks the place where the chest with the next artifact is located - the blade of the two-handed staff "Gyungnir".

To get to this chest, you will need to remove several stone pillars from the path. When interacting with each column, you turn on or off its highlight. Thus, you need to highlight the desired stone pillars to open the passage.

Red circles - chests with iron skulls.
Blue circles - two huts (caps) tomte.
Green circles - jarls tomte.
Purple circles - four levers to open the door. The fifth in a row indicates the location of the door itself.
Pink circle - a chest with the legendary one-handed Golden Axe.

Quest reward:

Legendary ring "Stone Giramfil".
Eir's generosity.
Rune Jera.
3000 blood.
16,800 gold.
2400 wood.
500 iron.

Chapter 8.2. Path into darkness

This story quest is completed in order to be able to upgrade the forge and armor to the fourth level.
You will be asked to complete the following additional tests:

Find 3 iron skulls.
Kill 20 cave trolls.
Destroy 10 menhirs.
Unlike previous missions, you won't have any problems finding iron skulls, since they are, in principle, located in open locations and are not hidden under boards, stones, etc.

In addition, we will not indicate the location of the cave trolls on the map, since you still have to kill them all. If you are not doing this, then just walk through all parts of the map - the trolls will automatically appear in the right place.

In the screenshots below, chests with iron skulls are marked with red circles, and all menhirs are marked with yellow circles. Most of the problems are connected with the search for menhirs.

Please note that the menhir indicated on the map at the intersection of the upper and lower tiers is located below, when exiting the arch, closer to the edge of the map.

In addition, towards the end of the location, you will notice a locked cage, inside of which is a precious chest. Looking ahead, we note that the chest contains the Talisman of Salt, which deals fire damage in the amount of 550%. The purple circle indicates the same chest with the talisman.

If you need it, you will have to solve the puzzle with levers.

Lever puzzle

There are several levers on the location that open and raise the bars. Pay attention to the screenshot above, where the map is shown. There are numbers on the map: the numbers indicate the levers you need.

BUT correct sequence using the levers will be like this (if you didn’t touch anything): first, second, run through the first into the main hall, where the orange safe zone is located, third, second, fourth. Go to the fifth lever, because now the passage to it should be open.

The task of the main plot is simple: head to the indicated place, destroy three crystals to go further, find the desired mob and take away the guardian's key from him, and then open the passage to the boss for them.

In the boss fight, Rampant Dverg, proceed in the same way as with normal dvergs. The only difference is that he has stronger attacks and a significantly increased HP pool. To wake up the boss when you are at the location, you will need to destroy the crystal.

Quest reward:

Woven armor "Robe of Odin".
Door pick axe.
Rune Isa.
4800 blood.
18,200 gold.
2700 wood.
550 iron.

Chapter 9.1. Albion - The Lost Clan

In this task, you will need to walk around the location, get to the locked gate and follow even further in order to bypass the fortress through the cave.

For additional purposes, you will be offered:

Find 3 iron skulls.
Destroy 10 Hrafnung's banners.
Kill 15 Fenwaits.

You will find Fenwaites mainly in two locations, similar to a mound overgrown with grass and flowers with high stone slabs. There will be more than 15 of them.

If two chests with iron skulls are not so difficult to find, then the third one, which chronologically is actually the first one, was well hidden by the developers. Look for him in the house to the left of the mound, up from your spawn point.

The chests with skulls are marked with red circles, the banners of Hrafnung are marked with blue ones. The yellow circle is the Druid, destroying which you will receive the Talisman of Tyr.

In addition, at the location you can find Tyr's talisman. To do this, you will need to kill one of the Druids - the item will drop from him.

At the end of the battle, you will need to defeat a group of barbarians, and then - imperials with shields. You have to be careful with them, as they do a lot of damage up close. Once you destroy them, you will have to defeat King Arthur as well. Basically, here you just need to dodge in time, avoiding his powerful attacks, and then counterattack. Opponent has resistance to stun.

Quest reward:

Armor of Fafnir.
Worn Crystal Mail.
Rune Isa.
5900 blood.
21,000 gold.
3100 wood.
630 iron.

Chapter 9.2. hide and seek

This story quest will be quite long, largely due to the huge location. You will be asked to complete the following additional tasks:

Find 3 iron skulls.
Destroy 30 tomte hats.
Kill 15 draugs.
There will be a limited number of tomte caps, as well as draugs on the location. Finding and destroying draugs will not be easy, but if you explore all corners of this level, you will definitely encounter them.

One of them is a draug warrior that will need to be awakened by solving a puzzle. See screenshot below.

There are four levers here. You need to pull them in next order(if you have not pulled anything before):

Lever about X.
Lever around F.
Lever near |X|.

At the beginning of the location, if you don't know it, you can walk past a niche hidden by boards with a chest inside which lies the legendary two-handed hammer "Gambantein". Its location is indicated on the map.

According to the story, move to the marker, destroy the gate and kill the enemies for next doors. Next, you will need to make a choice which way to go. But regardless of this, you will have to go both to the cave on the shore, and along the left path. If you go first by the path of Arthur, you will still stop in front of the magic gate.

Thus, talk to Mindir. Go to the specified cave, killing enemies, and then find out that Bellatrix, according to the wizard, still loves Arthur. This love is mutual, so if Guinnevere (aka Bellatrix) dies, Arthur will be saddened. We need to make use of this fact!

Return to Arthur and follow his path. After collecting all the items and destroying the ballista carts, go to the Final Arena.

Fight with Bellatrix

At the start of the fight, Bellatrix will cast a spell on Arthur. He will fight against you along with the girl. You have two options - either kill Bellatrix (Guinnevere), or attack Arthur, trying not to hurt Bellatrix herself. You will not kill Arthur, but on his last HP the fight will stop and Guinnever will ask for mercy.

Regardless of your choice, the storyline will continue the same way. It’s just that in the first case, Arthur will be saddened by the death of Bellatrix, and in the second, because of the witchcraft that was cast on him (and Bellatrix will go to your dungeon).

Quest reward:

Freya's new talisman.
Worn Crystalweave Armor.
Rune Mannas.
5900 blood.
24,000 gold.
3600 wood.
730 iron.

Chapter 10.1. Moroka with Giants - Plain of Souls

ATTENTION! In this story mission, you can find two parts of different artifacts at once, and if you were careful and collected all the others earlier, then both of these weapons can already be made. But more about everything.

You will be asked to complete three additional tasks:

Find 3 iron skulls.
Kill 30 trolls.
Destroy 7 menhirs.

As for the chests with iron skulls, we will show the location of ALL, but with one caveat: the last chest is inside the mound, where you will need to interact with the levers. This chest is visible through a gap in the wall, but for some reason the character doesn't want to go there. Perhaps this error will be fixed by the developers later.

The first part of the artifact that you can find is the shaft of the two-handed staff "Gyungnir". To find this artifact, you will need to destroy the Noble Frost Giant. After his death, the desired item will drop.

Note. Now you can collect weapons. To do this, in the "Bag" section of your inventory, double-click on the staff "Gyungnir". A picture of this staff assembled should appear. If it doesn't, the game will crash. In such cases, it is recommended to complete the mission, and collect weapons in your own village.

To find another part of the artifact, namely the knob of the artifact one-handed hammer "Mjolnir", you will have to look around in the mound with levers. When you come to a pit with spikes (you will have to push the panels with levers to make the passage further), then go to the right of it. Here stands a part of a wooden bridge in an upright position. Hit it to topple the bridge and provide a passage to the chest located to the right.

Note. To collect Mjolnir, you need to do the same. If the game freezes, then collect it after completing the quest.

The passage itself is not difficult, but you will need to sweat in the mound with levers. So, as soon as you are in place, then break the wall on the left. Here, after killing the enemies, pull the lever.

You will see part of the bridge extend. The bridge is behind the wall. And on this wall there is weakness which can be hit. Do so to get to the other side (this place is closer to the cup of healing).

Activate another lever and go over the already prepared bridge. At the end of the path, the third lever is waiting for you, which pushes the plates already on another bridge (a pit with spikes, to the right of which there is a vertical bridge - you need to overturn it to get to the chest with the artifact).

After that, go back and go right. There will be a cup of healing here. There is a weak wall below it - destroy it. Move all the way to the right and climb up the map. On the left there will be a turn to the bridge leading to the chest with the artifact. A little higher, in the wall on the right, through the hole, a chest with the last iron skull is visible. Take it if possible (there is a possible error here when the character cannot go to the chest).

At the end of this route, find another lever and pull it.

So you will collect the second bridge, on which you can continue the journey.

In the Last Arena, you will need to fight with two noble frost giants, and then pick up the runestone.

Quest reward:
Legendary accessory "Yarngrape".
Longbow of the Vanir Warrior.
Rune Isa.
7000 blood.
26,000 gold.
3800 wood.
780 iron.

Chapter 10.2. Union on fire

In this story quest, move forward first. The fact that the giants do not touch you is not a mistake. First you have to chat with the representative of Surt. But after a conversation with him, a battle will begin - now all the mobs in the location are your enemies.

Go back to the portal to kill the previously missed giants, which are needed for an additional quest.

So, you need to complete the following additional tasks:

Find 3 iron skulls.
Kill 20 fire giants.
Destroy 10 troll idols.

Unfortunately, I managed to find only 9 out of 10 idols. If you know where the tenth is, be sure to let us know in the comments.

In the screenshot, troll idols are marked with green circles, chests with iron skulls are marked with red ones.

There is one caveat - 18 fire giants are located before the Last Arena. But on the Last Arena, contrary to all previous missions (where additional targets disappeared when you went to the Arena), you will need to fight two bosses - giants. They will be counted in the assignment. We will not indicate them on the map.

Moving around the location, pay attention to the various symbols on the walls. In the screenshot above, you see the designation - a yellow circle. He points to a place with a puzzle. In front of you is a wall and four round toggle switches with images. You need to turn the switches so that they form four different symbols that you can see on the walls of this location.

If set correctly, the passage will open. You will reach a precious chest, inside of which lies the legendary Ring of Dispersal. Very valuable and useful item!

Get to the place where the lava pit is located. There are three levers on the side of it. If you haven’t touched anything (otherwise, load the last save), then, numbering the three levers from bottom to top on the map from 1 to 3, click on them in the following order - second, first, second, third. A bridge must be formed.

After reaching the locked grate, climb up the hill and pull the lever.

Kill two fire giants and then take Sindri's hammer.

Quest reward:

The legendary talisman of Baldur.
Penetration belt.
Rune Dagaz.
7400 blood.
22,700 gold.
4100 wood.
820 iron.

Chapter 11

In this mission, you will have to fight exclusively, but still you can’t do without additional tests:

Find 3 iron skulls.
Kill 5 cardinals.
Kill 3 Devout Etins.
At the beginning of the mission, you will destroy 3 of the 5 cardinals. After the gate opens, go through it and protect the wizard by killing another cardinal.

Returning back, you will face the Bishop of the Sky. You won't be able to kill him! All you need to do is move towards the fortress, towards the image of the head (Last Arena). But don't be in a hurry! Climb the steps and go through the open gate. There will be several imperials here, among whom there is also a cardinal - kill him! One test completed.

Here, on the right-bottom, look for the second chest with an iron skull. Go through the gate further and find the third, last chest with an iron skull, on the grass on the right (in the previous mission there was still a cart here). Inside it lies the legendary crown of the Allfather.

On the way to the right place, you will also see a champion ettin. Kill him if you want to complete the quest, and then proceed to the Final Arena.

After the cut-scene, you will need to kill the Simul. Avoid fireballs and green clouds on the battlefield. Get close to the boss and attack him. As soon as a green barrier appears on the enemy, run away and wait for him to disappear. Periodically, small goblins will appear on the battlefield.

The final. Eternal Well

Before embarking on this task, prepare carefully, as it is the last one. Remember also that once you win the fight and wait for the final cut-scene to complete, all your progress will be half destroyed. All saves will be deleted, but at the same time, your upgraded character will remain.

With the beginning new game+" you will lose all collected items, but you will be able to play the character of the level at which you left off.

The fight with Grimnir will consist of two stages. At the first stage, you are at war with an ordinary giant, who has a huge supply of health. Do everything the same as in the battle against his kind. Don't forget to periodically stand on the orange circle to keep warm.

In the second stage, Grimnir will turn into a huge terrible monster. There is only one way to damage him in this state: periodically the boss sticks to the ground with his hand. Tentacles begin to emerge from the ground. You must attack those tentacles! That's the whole secret.

It would seem that making a Viking an action/RPG hero is a win-win option. Scandinavian mythology will provide a bunch of different-sized enemies, from rock trolls to ice giants, the snow-covered shores of the fjords will serve as a beautiful backdrop for a furious "hack" ... There are crowds of relatively authentic evil spirits, and bloody splashes in the snow, but all this attractive surroundings disappear in vain. She planted too many strange mistakes in her story about the reckless leader of the Ulfung clan.

Ragnarok - down!

He (or she) will have to lead in difficult times. Recently, an attack by tomte goblins led by giants almost razed their native village to the ground, neighboring clans became insolent, mighty jotuns are about to provoke the end of the world, and some warlike foreigners in armor came from across the sea. Horror! But the local Vikings, of course, cannot be frightened by such nonsense. AND turnkey solution they always have problems at hand - kill everyone, and that's it.

True, for some reason, such a large-scale task is placed entirely on the shoulders of the leader, and the rest of Ulfung prefer to protect the village and erect all sorts of buildings in it, while the leader waves his ax, passing through a series of linear levels. There is no serious management of the settlement, as in some kind of game - we just gradually improve the forge, runesmith shop and the like with the help of resources collected during missions in order to get better equipment. The altar for offering sacrifices to the gods is no less important: the character increases his power by pouring the collected blood of enemies there, and when the altar is improved, the maximum rank of all our skills increases.

The role-playing system, accordingly, is also related to religion. There are no classes as such, and each skill branch is connected to a specific deity ... and at the same time to a specific weapon, as in . Thor patronizes exclusively lovers of two-handed colossus, Odin - fighters with a staff, Tyr - "tanks" with shields, Skadi - archers, Loki - dodgers holding a sword or an ax in both hands. At the same time, the entire set of talents, including passive ones, depends on what you have in your hands. Switch from a sword to a staff - say goodbye to both "skills" and an increase in armor. Despite the skills attached to the equipment, there are few tricks really related to it: yes, the conditional “paladin” worshiping Tyr can push opponents with a shield, but most time sets fire to and freezes them no worse than the “magician” who dedicated himself to Odin.

As a result, mixed professions in the spirit do not make any sense, although it offers a couple of slots for piercing and cutting "toys". And the balance of difficulty is not particularly designed for them - spraying experience on two gods at once, you will permanently deprive yourself of the most valuable abilities, and in return "double-dealing" gives almost nothing. At the same time, it was worth pulling out a “reserve tire”, adjusting to the situation on the battlefield, but this is not the case here - any of the fighting styles is self-sufficient, and there is absolutely no need to develop the second to the detriment of it.

At the same time, it is better not to dream about different ways of growth within the same “class”. The branches are not far from linearity, there are only five active abilities in each, and access to them is opened strictly in order of priority. By about level 30, you will completely "pump" everything in general in the chosen direction, as if in some kind of slasher. Other traits from purebred action games: a "combo" counter that affects the amount of experience (hello, Batman!) and the scale of "rage", accumulating in the process of chopping. Having become angry to the limit, you can briefly fall into a berserker rage with your own bonuses for any style: for example, for Vikings with two-handed swords, fury adds damage, and for fans of staves, it reduces the cooldown of abilities.

However, action gadgets still do not make the battle interesting. Looking back, apparently, at the same one, the developers allowed the rolls to avoid blows and even tied mobility to the weight of the equipment, as in Dark Souls However, they did not manage to realize all this beauty normally. A premature Ragnarok arranged for the convinced adherents of the keyboard and mouse: the classic "diabloid" scheme with dodges fixed on WASD is not a test for the faint of heart, so there is nothing to catch without a gamepad.

The hunt for valuable "loot" is also lousy. Junk here is completely devoid of interesting properties, and from the chests placed on the maps, the most depressing garbage consistently falls out. Things of "legendary" quality are almost always inferior to crafts from the village forge, if you do not forget to sponsor artisans. What excitement is there ... Finally, there are prefabricated artifacts such as Mjolnir, but for their sake it is necessary to “grind” enemies for hours in already completed locations. They didn’t guess to put random generation here, and even with it, the prospect would seem, to put it mildly, doubtful.

* * *

There are also stupid tests peeped into, like “kill so many enemy_name”. And idiotic story line, interspersed with stupid jokes - incredibly miserable even by the modest standards of the genre. And "cooperative" multiplayer without a single living soul. The heavy load of a drowned man.

If you are a fan of Scandinavian mythology, like carving runes at your leisure, dressing in skins and building longships, then our today's guest will be to your liking. Meet the new "diabloid" from the Slovak studio games farm called Vikings - Wolves of Midgard. The game briskly burst into the category of isometric hack & slash, did not make a splash there, but certainly did not go unnoticed. And why this happened, you will learn from our review.

According to the story, the Viking settlement Ulfung suffered from the ice giants, who went to another war with the gods. Naturally, the gamer has to sort out the problems, which leads the local clan "Wolves of Midgard" and becomes a local jarl. Thus, we shoulder revenge on the arrogant thugs, providing the village with resources and sorting out relations with dangerous neighbors. In the meantime, it is far from restoring justice, it is necessary to rebuild the settlement, recapture the strategic reserves of resources from other tribes and show the opponents that Ulfung has not only recovered from the blow, but also intends to fight back.

Long live the jarl!

The first story missions the gamer deals with the neighbors, and only then draws up a revenge plan and proceeds to implement it. Each local task is called a raid: the hero appears at the beginning of the map, he is brought up to date, after which a brisk cleaning of the area begins. Locations in Wolves of Midgard not like the usual battlefields from diablo-like slashers - they are long and narrow corridors with easy puzzles and an obligatory boss at the end. In addition to the main mission, the player is given a couple of additional tasks. Using them, we destroy enemy totems, kill the necessary mobs, or clear certain places on the map. For completing quests, the character receives bonuses in the form of three resources (wood, iron and gold). The bestiary of enemies is diverse and represents rich Scandinavian folklore, historical chronicles, as well as the imagination of the authors. There is no shortage of geography and change of locations either, so Vikings-Wolves of Midgard players will visit ominous snowy wastelands, poisonous swamps, gloomy volcanic caves, green sunny pastures, exotic islands and other worlds inhabited by northern gods. There they will meet direwolves, trolls, tomte, jotuns, ettins, dwarves, witches, ghouls, other Vikings, King Arthur's warriors and even soldiers of the Holy Roman Empire. Each enemy has received its own characteristics, skills, size and strength, and also knows how to famously resist a certain class of hero and is killed far from with one blow.

IN Wolves of Midgard gamers will have something to do between missions. For example, you need to develop a settlement, improve the buildings of a blacksmith, a rune master and other important NPCs. In addition, players can participate in repeated raids on already completed locations to obtain additional resources. They are also earned on the Arena of the Gods - this is a map where the character must quickly destroy the rolling waves of mobs. And if you get tired of this, then we join the multiplayer game and, together with a partner, we clean up new locations.

There will be something to do in the inventory - to clear the place of unnecessary trash, pick up equipment or insert a useful rune into it. There is not as much loot in the game as in other similar projects, but it falls out enough to periodically spend a couple of minutes doing this. The items and weapons themselves are divided into standard RPG gray, green, blue, purple and orange colors. They have light, medium and heavy properties and can be either sold to NPCs or simply destroyed using a special button with a basket in the inventory.

Hit, cut, shoot, slash!

Battles in Vikings-Wolves of Midgard pass briskly, briskly and provocatively. True, the first mission is boring, because the developers did not take care to give the character even one active skill. So you have to literally call out virtual adversaries with a standard blow. But then the level of interest goes off scale to the limit and I want to go through mission after mission in anticipation of a new boss, fresh tactics and, to be honest, further advancement of the plot.

Playfulness in battles is also brought by rolls. They are used constantly and often save lives when the enemy is in front of us on a half-screen. Yes, and it is easier to deal with ordinary mobs if you roll away from the crowd, and then destroy them with active skills. Rolls have received so much attention in the game that the weight and type of armor affects their range, and in addition to the main statistics, the character menu displays the number of rolls made.

IN Vikings-Wolves of Midgard no classes. It all depends on which of the five Scandinavian gods (Tyr, Thor, Odin, Skadi and Loki) the player chooses to pray. For example, to play local variant classic warrior with a sword and shield, you have to worship the god Tyr, and after choosing Odin, the gamer will run the local version of the magician with a two-handed staff. At any time, you can change weapons to another, but the invested skill points cannot be returned, so you will either have to continue playing as a skillless beginner and gain experience again, or decide at the beginning of the game which direction to choose. As an option - worship two gods at the same time, and divide skill points between ranged and melee weapons.

There are six active skills for each deity in the game, plus additional passive skills. But at the same time, only five skills and two artifacts are brought to the panel. The latter received special properties, drop out during the game or are crafted at the blacksmith. One gives health regeneration during the mission and replenishes in special places of power. The other provides a powerful offensive skill with a one-minute cooldown. In addition, there are three scales on the panel: health, elemental influence and rage. If everything is clear with health and rage (we kill enemies, accumulate rage, turn on the berserk mode), then the scale of the influence of the elements requires explanation.

The point is that developers Wolves of Midgard added survival elements to the project. Each location is somehow dangerous for the hero: snow-covered wastelands - with cold, poisonous swamps - with harmful evaporation, the lands of the gods - with their air, and gloomy volcanic caves - with the heat of lava. When a character enters such a map, a special scale on the panel is gradually filled with indicators of cold, poison, heat, or harmful atmosphere. After reaching the scale limit, the character loses health and dies in a matter of seconds. To prevent this from happening, the player needs to quickly move from one safe place to another, destroy mobs along the way, complete additional tasks and collect loot. Of course, a gamer will quickly get tired of constantly being in such a survival steam (after all, we don’t play in Flame in the Flood), so places with an aggressive environment come across a couple of times during a mission.

The beauty of mythical Scandinavia

Vikings-Wolves of Midgard does not shine with polished graphics, but its picture is pleasant, juicy and does not irritate the eyes even after a couple of hours of playing. If you look closely, in some places you can see crooked textures, protruding parts of the character through weapons and other similar trifles. But in the heat of the local battles, they are completely ignored. Pleases and optimization. The game is not demanding on hardware, it will easily go even on weak PCs, it does not sag in fps and is not buggy.

The project also has its downsides. Adequate playability as an archer and mage is questionable. The first one received a meager attack range and weak hits, so the game for him will consist of an eternal kite. The second for some reason turned out to be a melee class and is equipped with only one skill long range. At the same time, the local magician wears light armor, has weak protection and is killed by an average pack of mobs by the middle of the game. And his boss fights turn into hell and the endless use of rolls.

There are also complaints about the inventory: you can sell things only one at a time and with mandatory confirmation. In addition, the creators forgot to add a place for special finds to it. During the game, the gamer collects pieces of weapons from Scandinavian myths (for example, the legendary hammer Mjolnir). But its parts are only visible in the pop-up window at the time they were found, and are not displayed in the inventory itself. Therefore, it will not work to find out what exactly the player has already collected from such weapons.

Vikings-Wolves of Midgard turned out to be an exciting and provocative game in the family of imitators of the legendary Diablo. The project is unlikely to want to replay again, but it can easily captivate for a couple of evenings. Wolves of Midgard received a challenging combat, an aggressive environment system unusual for this genre, a pleasant picture and low requirements for a gamer's car. The game is able to attract the attention of fans of the Scandinavian setting, fans of isometric hack & slash and even casual players. But it has flaws, and the first patches have not yet corrected the too obvious mistakes of the developers.
