Lock picks, lock picking, better locks, lock protection, metal doors? Mottura, Mettem, Class, Cisa-Elbor, Cerber. An easy way to make a key to a lock

On August 19, 2004, the "Television Security Service" (TSB) of St. Petersburg showed a story in which it is said that a group of thieves was caught, who were stealing from apartments in a very original way. In order to explain this thieves' method in more detail, I decided to make illustrations with descriptions.

The essence of the method is as follows. If you leave the key in the lever lock on the inside of the door (and, as practice shows, most do), then you can easily take an impression from the key left in the lock using plasticine or similar material. And the next day, when you go about your business, the thief will calmly open your door with a made duplicate key. At the same time, the police, who arrived at your call on the fact of a burglary, state that the lock has no damage and is opened by "key selection". Experts know that it is almost impossible to just pick up the same (different) key to normally made lever locks. The real number of combinations of Cisa, Kerberos and some other lever locks exceeds 200 million options. Thus, it is impossible to bring a wagon of keys with you, and it is very difficult to fit the key to the lock on the spot, although there is a method of "removing deformation imprints." This method is complex and not every thief is available due to its complexity and duration. Of course, there are locks produced with violations of technological production modes, with increased gaps on the code groove between the lever tooth and the bolt post. There are locks deliberately released with the same key combination options due to the low level of technological equipment and the desire to reduce their costs at prime cost. It is not difficult to find a key to such a lock. But thieves, in addition to the existing unlocking of locks, have also developed new ones that combine reconnaissance of the place of theft with taking a fingerprint from the key. So how do thieves open a lock without leaving marks on the lock?

For this method, you need plasticine, a little liquid oil, a metal plate about 10 cm long, about 0.5 mm thick, a width equal to the width of the key beard and, for example, a clerical awl. I found a metal ruler at hand (see photo 1), which I finalized on sandpaper to the desired size and, lacking an awl, turned off part of the electrode.

Photo 1. A tool with which you can make a cast from the key left in the lock on the inside of the door.

The method of taking impressions from the key left in the lock on the inside of the door:
1. Roll out plasticine on a metal plate to make a layer about 1-1.5 mm thick.
2. Lubricate the plasticine with oil from above so that it does not stick to the key beard.
3. We look into the keyhole and see the key, acting (raising or lowering) with an awl through the keyhole on the right or left side of the key beard, slightly turn the key so that there is enough space on the left to push the plate with plasticine.
4. We put a plate with plasticine "smeared" on it inside the lock under (or above) the key beard.
5. We remove the awl, the key returns to a horizontal position under the influence of the lever springs and the beard of the key is pressed against the plasticine, leaving its imprint there.
6. To get a good impression, press the key against the plasticine again with an awl, acting on the right or left side of the key beard, as you prefer.
7. After the key bit has been pressed against the plasticine and an impression has been obtained, we repeat the same procedure for the second key bit.

And if we know a manufacturer that produces locks with a symmetrical combination, then one impression is enough, because. the second half of the key bit is obtained automatically by direct or reverse symmetry. On the keys of the company Mottura, Securem, Atra and others and their Russian counterparts Klass, Gerion, Chiza-Elbor, where the design of the code mechanism of 6 levers with a double key bit is used, it is enough to take an impression once, since always having received one impression, it is easy to obtain the second one by inverse symmetry. With a certain skill and training, the time of taking an impression takes less than a minute.

Photo 2. The photo shows the process of taking an impression from the key. In this experiment, you see a CERBER lock. It was on him that the caught thieves specialized. Manipulating with your right hand with an awl or other thin solid object, slip a plate with plasticine with your left hand.

Photo 3. In the photo you see the resulting clear cast, according to which it will not be difficult to make a key, having at hand the necessary key blank and needle file. This blank is easy to buy at any key workshop for a penny.

If the key is symmetrical, in most of all locks, then it is enough to take a cast once from any half of the key beard, but if the key is not symmetrical, then you will have to take a cast from two halves.

If the key is symmetrical, then it is enough to take an impression once from any half of the key beard, but if the key is not symmetrical, you will have to take an impression from two halves.

Theoretically, in this way it is possible to take an impression from the key of any lever lock with a through unprotected (not closed) key hole. It is easy to avoid thefts committed in this way. It is enough not to leave the key in the lock at all. Came, closed the door, and ALWAYS remove the key from the lock. This little trick and knowledge will help you avoid big troubles. As I said: "Do not show the key to anyone, do not leave it unattended, do not leave the key in the lock."

May troubles pass you by!

The production of keys in a factory is not a tricky process. For this, special equipment is used, stamping, which are adjusted to the secret part of the locking mechanism in an automatic, production mode.

However, quite often there is a need to make a duplicate key at home, using a cast for this. Below, we will describe in detail how keys are made by cast.

Recipe for making a quality cast

Let's start making a mold. There are several ways, but we will talk about one that involves quick production. To do this, you need a set of the following tools and materials:

  • any lubricant;
  • a thin metal sheet of about 10 cm, the width of which corresponds to the key;
  • ordinary children's plasticine.

As you can see, no complicated items are needed. Metal plates can be purchased at hardware stores. In extreme cases, get by with a metal ruler, if you do not mind using it for such purposes.

In order to get an impression, apply a thin layer of plasticine to a metal plate with a thickness of no more than one and a half millimeters. The plasticine is lubricated with oil to prevent it from sticking to the key. Press the key against the plasticine so that it leaves a clear, even print. Based on the casts obtained, a blank is cut out of a metal plate, along which a key is cut.

Another way to get it is to carefully and carefully measure all the dimensions of the made impression with an accurate ruler, put the data on a sheet of paper and make a drawing. There can be no question of any approximation - the drawing must be as accurate and correct as possible.

Let's start manufacturing

So, we already have a drawing or a blank on a metal plate, and therefore now we can begin to describe the process of how keys are made.

To do this, you need to purchase two, which is copied. You can do this at any store specializing in the sale of lock fittings. It is enough just to know the model and type. You can pick up the workpiece visually, from memory. Or take the original key with you, which will allow you to choose a blank that matches the original as closely as possible.

Now it's up to small but painstaking work. Working with a file or needle file, you need to cut out all the notches of the key. No need to rush, be careful, avoid sharp edges. The notches must exactly match your drawing or blank on the metal plate. Keep in mind that a duplicate keyhole is always harder to get into than an original key, so it's important to make all corners and edges rounded. But do not get carried away in the process of work, otherwise it is worth removing at least an extra half a millimeter and the workpiece will be damaged. Of course, you have a second one, prudently bought in a store, but the time spent will be lost forever.

Now you know how keys are made. For this, it is not at all necessary to go to the workshop. If you have free time and a certain dexterity and perseverance, you can make the key yourself.

Keys are often lost. If they are from an important lock, then you will have to change it, because an attacker can pick it up. But what if there is no chance that someone will take possession of it, but you want to leave the castle? How to make a key for an existing door lock?

Is it possible to make the key yourself?

In any case, a theoretical basis is needed. There are two types of locks: lever and cylinder.

Each has its own principle of operation. The lever type key has protrusions on the key, each of which raises the pin. If the pin and protrusions do not match, then you cannot turn the key and open the lock.

The key to the lever lock

Cylinder locks have secret mechanisms in the form of a larva. The key is equipped not with protrusions, but with notches. It is easier to make a key for yourself than for a key.

Notches at the key from the cylinder lock only on one side

With a strong desire to make a key yourself is real. You need to understand the mechanism and principle of operation of the lock. Have a blank, but rather a few, because the first time it may not work. Some list of tools. Namely, these are files of different sizes, a vice. Plus, there's plenty of time to spare. If you have the skill, then making the key does not take much time. An amateur in this matter will need a lot of free time to figure it out.

Attention! If you need the key urgently, then do not torture yourself. It is better to take the core of the castle and take it to a specialist. The key is made by a specialist in 10-15 minutes.

You cannot make a key blindly without knowing how the lock cylinder is arranged. Trying to turn the case without removing the lock, you will spoil the secret mechanisms. So, you need to have full access to the secret mechanisms.

Consider the methods of making a key for a locked and disassembled lock.

Manufacturing by a locked lock

It is difficult to open a locked lock without a key

There is a need to make a key, and it is impossible to dismantle the core of the mechanism. This happens when the door is locked and you don't want to break it down. If attempts to open the lock with a master key or selection of a key were unsuccessful, then they try to make a suitable one on their own. It's complicated. Even if you arm yourself with special tools, a positive result is not guaranteed.

For manufacturing you will need:

  • files of different sizes;
  • needle files;
  • blanks;
  • vise;
  • pliers;
  • calipers.

File set

It all depends on the type of lock. Perform actions carefully, without haste. Rough and excessive force will damage the mechanism.

  • Insert the blank into the keyhole until it stops. If it does not fit, select a suitable blank. You don't need to force it. So you damage the secret mechanism of the lock.
  • Rotate the blank without much effort. This can be done using pliers. At some point, the disc will rest, you will feel it. Swing it in different directions, turn it back to its original position and remove it from the lock.
  • If it is not clear why the disc should be rotated, then the following steps will clarify. Good lighting is needed to inspect the surface of the workpiece. With proper light, traces from the secret parts of the mechanism are visible, obtained by rocking the blank when it rested against them. It seems that it remains to cut out the marked places with a file, but not everything is so simple. The number of grooves and recesses depends on the secrecy of the mechanism of the locking device. There are many marks on the blank. It is not enough just to remove them, you need to observe jewelry accuracy. An extra piece of the blank removed will not allow you to open the lock and you will have to start all over again.

The process is time-consuming, requires a certain skill and endurance. When cutting grooves, do not do everything at once. I made one recess, inserted it into the lock and checked. Etc.

Making according to the larva of the castle

If the key is not lost from a locked lock, then making keys from a larva is easier. Remove the core from the lock. Disassemble it. It is not difficult to do this. Remove the retaining rings on it and carefully disassemble into two halves. Be careful not to lose the small secret parts of the castle.

Choose a workpiece that is suitable in size in advance. Do not forget about this until you have dismantled the core. It is possible, as in the first case, to mark the places of secrets on the workpiece with light movements. The push-in method will damage the mechanisms.

So, on the blank there are marks from the crossbars and the lock is disassembled into two parts. Start gradually sawing out the marks and creating grooves. Remove excess metal with a file or needle file carefully, slowly. The disassembled locking mechanism will allow you to check the grooves by applying to the crossbars. Visually determine how much to remove and which grooves fit the shape of the crossbars.

Copies of the keys to the apartment may be needed at any time. You can make them yourself if you wish. To do this, you need a cast and a metal blank. How to make a cast of a key at home and make a new key with it?

How to make a key cast

The easiest way to make a mold is to use plasticine. If kids or schoolchildren live in the house, there will certainly be material. Additionally, you will need a little vegetable oil and a piece of metal plate 10 cm long and ½ cm thick.

How to make a key from a cast

How to make a mold of a key from plasticine? The sequence of actions is as follows:

Roll out a piece of plasticine on a metal plate so as to get a layer slightly thicker than the bulges of the key itself (from 0.6 to 1.5 cm);

Lubricate the surface of the plasticine with vegetable oil so that the beard of the key does not stick;

Press the key into the plasticine, first with one side, then with the other side.

This completes the work. But what if the key is lost? You can do without it if you do not want to change the lock. You need to buy a blank for the key and arm yourself with pliers.

How to make a cast of a key in a lock? It is necessary to insert the workpiece into the lock until it stops, clamp the head with pliers and turn the “opening” movement to the right as much as possible. Make several movements up and down. Turn the workpiece to the left to the very end and also make several vertical movements. When the workpiece is removed from the larva, internal pins will be clearly imprinted on it. It remains to cut off excess metal - and you get a great replacement for the old castle.

How to make a key from a cast

It is not enough to know how to make a cast of keys correctly. It is equally important to understand what to do with them next. It is difficult to make a key on your own: you need skills in handling a needle file. If the print is made directly on the blank, you will have to carefully cut off the excess metal, constantly checking the result. It is necessary to cut down all the interfering parts, round the corners and edges so that the key opens the door more easily.

If the cast is made on plasticine, work will begin with the manufacture of a drawing.

Here, too, special knowledge is needed: you need to make the most accurate drawing of prints.

To make a key using your cast, you need to cut out recesses, grooves, bends with a needle file, exactly following the drawing. All sharp edges need to be cut down, rounded off. There should not be any burrs either. It is important not to go beyond the boundaries of the drawing, not to cut off excess metal: this way you can ruin all the work. The key will be ready when it begins to easily unlock the lock.

Making your own fingerprints is very easy. But cutting a new key from the blank is not necessary: you can simply take the casts to the workshop. But if you want to learn a new craft, you can try to cut the key with your own hands.

How to make keys?

In the life of each of us, a situation may arise when a duplicate key is urgently needed, but there is no way to contact the workshop. There is no reason to be upset, since you can make a key with your own hands.

Key making

By a lucky chance, you have a cast of the desired key at home. The material from which it is made is not important. The main thing is that it be clear and not blurry. In addition to the cast, you will need:

  • paper;
  • ruler;
  • a set of needle files;
  • 2 blanks.

Working process

  1. Using a ruler, we measure all the parameters of the cast. Don't miss a single detail. We record the measurement results and create a drawing based on them. It must be clear and reflect all the smallest details of the cast.
  2. Let's get down to the most painstaking part of the work. We take blanks corresponding to the shape of our key. There must be at least two of them. After all, without preparation, spoiling one of them is very simple.
  3. We transfer the drawing to the workpiece.
  4. Using a needle file according to the drawing, we cut out all the components of the key, paying special attention to the elaboration of small details. Take your time and try not to leave sharp corners. The duplicate is always harder to insert into the lock, so its lines should be smooth. Be careful not to overdo it. Even a deviation from the drawing by a millimeter will lead to damage to the workpiece.
  5. We attach the finished key to the cast. If it does not match perfectly, correct the shortcomings.
  6. We try to open the door with a key. If a problem occurs, we once again check the key and the cast and correct the detected shortcomings.

Making an impression

Making a key cast is quite simple. For this, it is necessary to prepare

  • plasticine;
  • butter;
  • metal plate.

Working process

  1. We roll out the plasticine in an even layer on a plate or piece of paper. Its thickness should be 1.5 mm.
  2. Lubricate the plasticine with oil so that it does not stick to the surface of the key.
  3. We take the key and press it into the plasticine so that all parts are clearly imprinted.
  4. Both sides of the key must be printed.
  5. Further on the cast, you can make keys.

Making a key blank

Unfortunately, the necessary blank may not always be at home. In this case, you will have to make it yourself. In order to make a copy of the key you will need:

  • sheet of thin tin;
  • needle files;
  • original key;
  • awl/nail.

Procedure

  1. From a piece of tin, cut out a rectangle according to the size of the key.
  2. Carefully align the resulting rectangle. We attach the original key to it.
  3. We circle the key with an awl or a thin nail. This should be done carefully, trying to deviate from the boundaries of the key as little as possible.
  4. Using needle files, we cut out our workpiece.
  5. We connect the key and the workpiece. It is best to use a vise for this purpose.
  6. We pass along the workpiece with something sharp and hard where the key has a groove. Repeat the operation several times until you get the same as the original.
  7. We repeat this operation with the other side.
  8. Duplicate key is ready. Check it for functionality. There is a little trick: so that the tin does not bend, use a screwdriver during opening. She will take the main load on herself and the key will not bend.
