Window frames. Wooden platbands on the windows - how to do it right

Finishing windows with platbands is an ancient practice. Woodcarving - at one time, was one of the most sought-after professions, and now it has moved into the category of applied art.

Our ancestors believed that evil spirits could enter the house through window and door openings. Therefore, the platband served not only as a decorative element, but also as a talisman, and each applied ornament and pattern on the carved platband carried a certain message. Moreover, each region had its own traditions.

The value of the carved elements on the platbands is interesting

  • Wings emphasize strength.
  • The bird is an element that unites all times.
  • The sun personifies life and energy (usually located on the kokoshnik).
  • The snake symbolizes wisdom and fertility.
  • The cross demonstrates the desire of the owners for harmony between the material and the spiritual.
  • Vegetation shows a sense of unity with nature.
  • Earrings testify to the hospitality of the owners of the house.

Wooden architraves are rarely found in cities with high-rise buildings. But in private construction, they are again in demand today, making modern houses more stylish and unique. They emphasize the desire of many to revive traditions in decor.

Today, window casings perform a completely different function and are made not only from wood. Platbands made of metal, plastic (PVC), plywood, laminated MDF are common. As for the latter, MDF or plywood trims are not intended for external window framing, only for interior design of door and window openings.

It should be noted that the correct name for the external decorative window framing is cashing. The platband is installed indoors.

Functional purpose of window frames

Advantages

  • decorating window openings. For example, a platband can visually stretch a low house, or expand a narrow one;
  • the opportunity to express your individuality or give the house the style of a certain era or region;
  • emphasize the style of the house and allow you to combine all the buildings on the site into a single architectural ensemble;
  • protection of the gaps between the window and the wall from dust and moisture;
  • reduction of heat loss at the junction of the window frame and the wall;
  • reducing the level of external noise;
  • sometimes they are the only possible design option. For example, platbands on the windows of a wooden house or a log house can only be made of wood. Otherwise, the whole color of such a structure will be lost.

disadvantages

A wooden, especially carved platband has a number of disadvantages, or rather features:

  • dependence on atmospheric influences. Frequent temperature changes, moisture, ultraviolet, all these factors cause damage to the casing;
  • dependence on quality processing. The right choice of species, careful impregnation of wood, timely replacement of parts, and painting, all this can extend the life of the product. Otherwise, the wooden casing will soon become unusable;
  • the complexity of combining with modern plastic windows. Wooden platbands are not always suitable for plastic windows.

Quite often there are plastic windows framed with wooden trim, as shown in the photo above. A somewhat unfortunate, controversial decision. In such cases, it is necessary to either install wooden double-glazed windows (or windows laminated to look like wood), or paint the casing white.

A more harmonious finish is in the photo below.

Types and types of platbands on windows

The manufacture of platbands for windows depends on the type and method of installing the platband.

Allocate simple platbands for windows - flat and standard. More beautiful, are made on special equipment. The most beautiful window trims are, of course, carved ones.

The method of manufacturing and the cost of the platband is affected by the method of their installation:

  • telescopic. To a greater extent, they will change in the frame of doorways. Special L-shaped protrusions of such a casing go into the grooves of the box. Such a connection is more complex, but beautiful;
  • overhead. They are attached to the window frame with nails or special glue.

It is worth noting that the platbands are of a wide variety and are often complemented by shutters.

How to make platbands on windows - the choice of material

1. Type of wood

For the manufacture of the casing, it is better to use such wood as beech, oak, birch, linden, alder, pine, walnut or even fruit trees.

The choice of breed will be influenced by the proposed method of manufacturing the casing.

  • Hardwood architraves (beech, oak, ash) are very reliable, but this material is very hard. To cut a pattern on them, you need to make a lot of effort and spend a lot of time.
  • Platbands from soft-leaved species (linden, alder, aspen). Soft wood material, it is a pleasure to work with it. But they, with improper processing, absorb moisture and quickly become unusable.
  • The best option is hardwood (birch) or coniferous (pine). Hard enough to be used outdoors, they allow accurate cuts.
  • Cherry or apple tree is used to make small decorations that are superimposed on the main pattern.

2. Patterns for platbands on windows - drawings and templates

If decorative carving is supposed, you need to decide on the pattern. Depending on skills, you can choose a light or very complex ornament for platbands. Below are some drawings of carved platbands for windows. Patterns can be copied in whole or in part, bringing something from yourself into the pattern.

Sketches with interesting ornaments and patterns are placed on a separate page, by going to which you can
.
It also describes how to make stencils for making templates with your own hands.

It is desirable that all windows are decorated with the same platbands with the same thread. Therefore, when choosing a pattern, keep in mind that it will need to be repeated several times. It shouldn't be too fancy. Especially if you are a beginner. It is better if your pattern contains round holes (they are easy to drill) and large elements. It is worth noting that small elements are not only difficult to manufacture, but also become unusable faster than others. Therefore, they will require periodic replacement.

Another important point is the obligatory presence of a slope at the top of the casing. Otherwise, snow will accumulate on the surface of the tree, which will inevitably lead to its destruction. A slope of several degrees is easy to perform, it will divert water down.

3. Tool

  • hacksaw;
  • knives;
  • chisels of several types (clukarzy, corners, flat, curved, semicircular, caesars);
  • sanding paper;
  • jigsaw;
  • drill;
  • milling machine (if available)

4. Patterns for platbands - stencils and sketches

To make the pattern the same on all windows, it is recommended to make a sketch or stencil.

You need to place the drawing on the workpiece correctly. Elements should be located along the grain of the wood. This will prevent thread cracking.

Sections of the pattern where you need to make cuts can be marked with color.

5. Making carved platbands for windows

There are two ways to do wood carving:

  • cut wood carving. The pattern cuts through the entire casing and, like lace, beautifully and elegantly frames the window opening.

  • overhead wood carving. This method is much simpler in that a thinner workpiece is used for work, which is easier to work with. With the overhead method, individual thread elements are created, which are then folded together on a solid board. Thus, it is possible to ennoble simple platbands on the windows.

The beauty of openwork window trim lies in the use of contrast. A lighter carved element on a dark background is more common.

Do-it-yourself wooden platbands for windows - instructions

  • measurements are taken from the window;
  • All work is done on dry lumber. The height and width of the board depends on your preferences, but the thickness should be at least 30 mm for a slotted thread and at least 10 mm for an invoice;
  • blanks are cut out;
  • from the inside of the clypeus, to a depth of 1-2 mm. wood is selected. Leave edges on the edges. This approach will provide a tighter fit of the casing to the frame;
  • the pattern applied according to the template is cut out. At the same time, holes can be drilled with drills of different diameters, and cuts can be made with a jigsaw. The insertion point of the jigsaw is indicated by a drilled hole. So the cut will be more beautiful;
  • slots and holes are processed with sanding paper. If there are non-through holes in the pattern, then wood dust must be removed from them. This is done using a vacuum cleaner.

6. Fastening carved elements

Details made with overhead carving are attached to the wide base of the casing on nails. It is desirable that the nails were without hats. A more reliable connection can be achieved by applying glue to the pattern from the wrong side. Masters advise not to use self-tapping screws for the connection, so as not to damage the junction.

7. Installation of trim on windows

It is not enough to create a beautiful product. You also need to know how to install platbands on windows correctly.

Proper installation of platbands on windows is the key to their long-term operation and aesthetic appearance. For fastening, you can use the following methods:

  • deaf thorn. Such spikes are installed in the casing, and holes are drilled in the frame for them. A little glue is applied to the spike and inserted into the groove. This mount is the most difficult, but it protects the installation site from moisture and does not spoil the appearance of the product;
  • through spike. An easier and less reliable way. This system of spikes provides fastening. But, the spike must be installed where it will be least noticeable and additionally protected from moisture.

The listed methods are used if platbands are installed on wooden windows.

In the event that the installation of platbands on plastic windows is required, special glue (liquid nails) is used. This method will not violate the integrity of the frame.

In order for the carved platband to please you for as long as possible, you need to take care of its processing. To do this, the wood is primed, varnished or painted.

Outcome

The desire to follow the traditions of the ancestors is commendable. The revival of carved art is most welcome in the conditions of modern urbanization. The special flavor of Russian carving will not lose its relevance. With some effort, you can make carved wooden platbands with your own hands. Yes, the work is difficult and painstaking, but it's worth it. Plus, you can save a decent amount, because. if you order the manufacture of a set of carved architraves for one window in the workshop, it will cost 5-15 thousand rubles.

Platbands are not only a beautiful element of decor, as many used to think. Often their functionality is much more than just a nice look and aesthetics. And far from always they have a bright appearance, immediately conspicuous.

Platbands are needed primarily in order to protect the window from adverse effects and improve insulation in the house. Therefore, in fact, they are often necessary.

Now platbands for the most part are also a beautiful component in themselves, which makes the house more beautiful and livelier. But protection is still their main purpose. The window frame is subject to various damages, and the installation work on inserting it into the wall of the house leaves behind an unpleasant-looking gap.

Platbands hide all defects. And also they are able to provide heat in the house, since their presence greatly prevents its loss.

Perhaps a structure made of brick or concrete is not so susceptible to this, but wood tends to deform after some time. Cracks may appear just for this reason. Platbands in this regard are extremely helpful: the process slows down.

Kinds

Platbands today are very diverse in appearance. Can be distinguished based on the material from which they were created. But basically there are two types.

Overhead

This version is older, but don't be dismissive of it now. The way to install it is quite simple: it is done on top of the frame.

Little effort is required, but this type of platband helps enough: it does not allow both sunlight and precipitation to penetrate. The joints are securely protected thanks to this.

Telescopic

This is a modern type, which has been used quite often lately. You do not need additional materials in the form of screws or the same nails. Such platbands are placed just in the slot. This ensures a secure fixation of it as a whole.

Priority should still be given to the second type. But to install it, you need to remove the windows. Doing this is not always convenient, if not impossible at all, so they often resort to the first one. But, we have to admit, the telescopic casing is much more convenient to use.

materials

The first thing that comes to mind is wood. Wood is practical in itself, and it always looks natural and beautiful. Such a platband is universal, you can arrange it in different ways.

Plus, in private homes, it is the tree that usually looks most welcome. Any photo of platbands on windows in a wooden house will confirm this fact. Moreover, if the structure itself is made of wood, then the same material can be used on the platbands. This will help to combine well with one another. The color can be slightly changed if desired.

Indeed, this option is often used. Others require additional costs in the form of special processing. Yes, and rarely decorated. But in fact, platbands can be made of plastic or MDF.

Let's remember all the same about the minuses of the tree. Moisture will not make it better, and it does not have strong frost resistance. But plastic in this regard is much more reliable. Now you can do anything: including giving it the look of a tree to look the most natural.

Such material will not deform and will last much longer than wood. Yes, and it is much more pleasant to fix it: the platbands will not need to be rammed with screws. But still, plastic is an artificial material, no matter how it looks. Not every owner will want to use it, as this will reduce the environmental friendliness of his home.

And here you can turn to the third option, MDF. In fact, this is the same tree, only treated with a certain composition. Such platbands are distinguished by naturalness, but at the same time they are also reliable. Accordingly, they can last much longer than a tree.

Here, however, there is also a minus - they are not durable. Both plastic and wood have a much higher strength in comparison with them. What material to use you need to decide based on your own wishes.

Preparing for installation

First you need to accurately measure the window. The size here is very important and it must be measured with the utmost accuracy so that the frame is hidden from view. Only then, when you have taken the necessary measurements, you can begin to prepare materials.

If you opted for a tree, then you should first cut the blanks. Here you can arrange them according to your wishes. The other two types do not need additional treatment, but the wood must be impregnated with a protective solution.

Use only dry lumber. You can severely damage your own work if it is not dried.

Next, you will need to make notes on the platbands, with which you will need to indicate where the joints and fasteners will be placed. Holes must be drilled in advance. And then immediately grind the casing.

The place of work should also be given special attention. Remember that then you will not be able to get to the joints. If there are any plans for which they will be needed, be sure to do everything that is necessary before starting the installation.

Overhead platbands can be attached in several ways. It is possible to do this with nails, and possibly with the help of various spikes.

Nails are easy to use but can ruin the overall picture, so spikes are usually preferred. There is a deaf spike and a through one. The technology of their application is similar, only the holes when using the second option in the casing are through.

Mounting

Now you can start the actual installation. First you need to assemble the casing, fastening all its parts together. You can use either spikes, or nails, or ordinary glue. The latter, however, is recommended to be used only in addition to the other two.

If you opted for spikes, then you will need to initially take care of measuring their location and make the necessary holes in advance.

Initially, you will need to mark the perimeter. It is necessary to know exactly the placement of all fasteners, as well as evenly arrange them throughout the structure. Remember that the load should not be uneven.

The installation itself is simple: the casing is placed so that the holes for the spikes coincide with them. The job requires precision. A lot depends on the placement of the location of the fasteners, which must be taken care of long before. Accordingly, the preparation for installation will greatly affect the result in general.

You may need glue to work. When using it, the risk that the entire structure will simply fall is significantly reduced. Plus, the insulation of all holes made is improved.

After the installation is completely completed, it remains only to use a certain composition for the holes. This is necessary so that moisture is not absorbed.

It is important to remember that you need to follow the design after. If she demands it, then even devote time to additional care for her. Only in this case at the output you will get a decent result.

Photo of platbands on windows in a wooden house

Master of Architecture, graduated from the Samara State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering. 11 years of experience in design and construction.

The design of PVC windows after their installation includes the finishing of slopes. After completion of these works, the corners are decorated with decorative corners or internal slopes are installed on the windows.

Why do you need window trim?

The interior decoration of plastic windows has not only a decorative function, but also a protective one. The mounting seam must be reliably protected from the impacts exerted on it, so that the window system as a whole functions correctly: the glass does not fog up and freeze, and condensate does not accumulate on the slopes.

The assembly seam from the outside must also be reliably protected from the effects of precipitation, wind and sunlight, under the influence of which polystyrene foam is destroyed. You can effectively protect it by installing metal slopes and platbands on plastic windows for exterior decoration, which will give the window a neat, finished look.

For the interior decoration of the window opening in the house, different types of material are used. This can be decorative plaster, do-it-yourself installation of PVC panels or drywall on the slopes of plastic windows. The decoration of internal slopes with decorative artificial stone looks spectacular. To understand which of these methods is better, it is worth considering each of them separately.

Decorative plaster

When making repairs in the house, interior decorative plaster is often used as a finishing material for walls. This material will make the slopes on the windows unusual and spectacular.

Decorative plaster is often used for interior decoration of slopes.

The composition of decorative plaster may include fillers of various fractions and origins - these can be natural wood fibers or stone chips or artificial granules of various sizes. Decorative plaster is used as a finishing layer, creating an unusual textured surface or intricate pattern, like Venetian plaster..

As a material for interior decoration of slopes, decorative plaster has the following characteristics:

  • effectively masks the unevenness of the base;
  • it can be applied to any base material: brick, concrete, drywall, wood;
  • this material does not absorb odors;
  • safe, non-flammable and environmentally friendly composite;
  • has soundproofing qualities;
  • with minor defects in the base, its preliminary repair is not required;
  • when waxed or painted, the plaster layer becomes water-repellent;
  • has breathability;
  • repair of the plaster layer is very simple, there is no need to remove the entire finish;
    finishing of arched window designs is possible.

Types of decorative plasters

Depending on the type of filler and the base substance, decorative plasters are:

Surface preparation

The durability of the plaster layer depends on a well-prepared surface.. Therefore, finishing window slopes inside with decorative plaster should begin with the preparation of the base.

Drywall slopes

Finishing slopes with drywall is quick and does not require special building skills. Installation is possible using mounting foam or putty as an adhesive or on a metal frame. Drywall for windows must be marked GKLV.

Drywall on slopes can be mounted on a metal frame

It has the following positive qualities:

  • environmental friendliness;
  • affordable cost;
  • simple installation;
  • decorative effect when finishing with any materials;
  • flat solid surface;
  • durability;
  • the possibility of designing arched openings.

Preparatory work

Surface preparation consists of the following steps:

With the help of mounting foam, you can finish the window opening without having building skills. It is important to remember that drywall is a fragile material, so the necessary details must be cut out of it carefully, without effort.

To get smooth edges at the cut points, it is necessary to make an incision along the drawn line on a sheet of drywall, attaching a ruler, using a sharp construction knife. It is necessary to cut the top paper layer and a little inner one. Then, along the incision, you can lightly knock - the drywall will break itself along the intended line.

Foam mounting

Finishing slopes with plastic panels

Finishing the slopes of windows inside can be carried out using plastic ceiling panels or multilayer sandwich panels. The installation of this material is so simple that it is possible to finish the plastic windows inside with your own hands. How to make slopes for plastic windows made of plastic in the house will be described below.

For finishing slopes from the inside, PVC panels are most often used.

Sandwich panels are better than ceiling panels due to the presence of a layer of insulation inside. However, ceiling tiles also have thermal insulation qualities due to the air chambers between the internal stiffeners..

Installation and repair of slopes inside the building with the help of these finishing materials is possible due to their qualities:

  • PVC slopes are durable;
  • the use of panels for finishing window slopes gives them an attractive, neat appearance;
  • finishing options can be very diverse thanks to a wide range of colors,
  • which have outer surfaces of panels;
  • it is possible to install plastic on arched structures;
  • repair of plastic slopes is not difficult;
  • ease of installation - window openings are finished with their own hands, while installation does not take much time;
  • pvc lends itself well to processing;
  • slopes trimmed with plastic from the inside are easy to maintain;
  • finishing window openings with this material increases the energy efficiency of the window system;
  • interior window trim prevents them from fogging and freezing.

Mounting

How to install internal slopes for windows made of PVC panels is shown below.

  • we remove excess mounting foam with a clerical or construction knife;

    To remove the remaining foam, use a clerical or construction knife.

  • along the perimeter of the window opening near the frame, with the help of self-tapping screws, we fix a wooden block;

    Fasten a wooden block around the perimeter of the frame

  • we attach the starting profile to the bar;

    A starting profile is attached to the bar

  • install a rail along the outer perimeter of the window;

    The rail is fixed along the outer perimeter of the frame

  • first it is better to insert the side elements;

    Side panels installed first

  • then we insert the top panel, bend it, foam it a little and fix it in the required position;

    A small layer of foam is blown between the upper slope and the PVC panel

  • in the same way we fix the side parts;
  • after the structure dries, the corner parts are trimmed with decorative elements - corners or platbands.

    Corners are covered with platbands

Sandwich panels can be installed in the same way or without a starting profile. In this case, the panel is placed in a groove cut in the mounting foam. This method of installation is relevant when it is not possible to place a bar around the perimeter of the window frame.

platbands

Platbands or cashing for internal slopes for pvc windows can be made of different materials, but its functional purpose is the same - protecting the mounting seam from destruction and giving the window opening an aesthetic appearance.

Types of platbands

Platbands differ in appearance and functionality:

Flat platbands. This is the easiest and cheapest type of cashing out.
Profiled architraves have a convex surface of a different profile, aimed at enhancing the decorative function of the cashing.
Shaped platbands can have a complex relief and imitate natural wood.
Carved platband is the most expensive type of cashing, made to order according to individual sizes.

Materials for manufacturing

The most common material for the manufacture of cashing is sheet plastic. It is used for the manufacture of budgetary flat platbands, which can be used when finishing windows indoors and out.

This material is not afraid of temperature changes, exposure to moisture or sunlight. Its surface can be laminated and acquire any color or imitate various types of natural wood. Therefore, it will not be difficult to choose cashing to match the color of the window facade.

Plastic cashing can be made for any facade

For plastic platbands, deformation from temperature changes and exposure to moisture is unusual.

Profiled platbands made of PVC profile have the same properties, but may have a figured surface. They are also used for indoor and outdoor window decoration.

MDF platbands can also be flat or profiled, but they are used exclusively indoors, since the properties of MDF do not allow them to be used outdoors under the influence of natural phenomena.

For outdoor use, dense foam cashing can be used. This material is easy to process and install. From foam, you can cut the most intricate and complex shapes. It can be decorated with any finishing materials. It has a negligible weight, so it does not exert a load on the wall.

Styrofoam platbands can be used for exterior window trim.

The most expensive window design option is a carved wooden cashing device. The carving can be done manually or mechanically. Handmade is very expensive due to its individuality and exclusivity.

Profiled and shaped platbands made of natural wood, made on a machine, will be cheaper.

Careful care is required for wooden platbands, since wood, when used in conditions of exposure to the external environment, has some disadvantages:

  • wood can be deformed when absorbing moisture or crack as a result of shrinkage;
  • such cashing harmoniously looks on windows made of wood or on facades made of timber. On modern facades, such cashing will look ridiculous.

Fastening

Most often, when mounting platbands on a plastic window, mounting elements are used that are fixed to a frame or wall.

Platband mounting scheme

The use of removable platbands, which are attached to special latches, allows for quick and high-quality installation.

Making your home memorable and beautiful is the dream of any owner. If the house is no longer new, it is not so easy. One of the possibilities is carved platbands. They even turn an ordinary “box” into a masterpiece.

Trim material

Carved platbands are made mainly from coniferous wood. The best option is pine, it is normally cut, inexpensive, and durable due to the high resin content. In principle, you can use any other coniferous board, but it is better not to try with a spruce board: it is too fibrous, it cannot be cut even with the sharpest tool.

You can also make carved architraves from hardwoods - linden (the softest), poplar, maple, oak, cherry, etc. But with each breed you need to be able to work, fill your hand, and there is no guarantee that something digestible will turn out, and hardwood is expensive. Therefore, platbands are made on windows more often all the same from pine. You just need to pay attention to the quality characteristics.

Carved platbands on the windows - a way to make your home unique

If there is wood or a board that has lain for 3 years or more, you can use it: it is already dry for sure, only processing and calibration will be required. If there is no woodworking equipment at home (thickness gauge and circular saw), a cutting board will be needed. Under carved platbands, wood of the first or highest grade is suitable. This means that there should be no knots, chips, resin pockets on the board. Take wood chamber drying, with a moisture content of not more than 8-12%. This is not for sale in the markets; you need to look for it at sawmills and hardware stores.

Why chamber drying? Because it is dried in a special chamber, quickly removing moisture. At the same time, part of the boards cracks, bends - these go to rejection, the rest are sold. If you make carved architraves from chamber-dried wood, they will definitely not be warped and they will not crack.

Instruments

To make carved platbands with your own hands, you will need the following minimum set:

  • drill with a set of drills;
  • electric jigsaw with a soft start and a bunch of different saws for wood;
  • chisels;
  • sandpaper with grains of different sizes;
  • petal disk from sandpaper for wood on a drill.

To reduce the time it takes to create carved patterns and polishing, it is better to have a router and grinder.

One by one or in bulk?

Carved platbands usually consist of repeating elements. At least two vertical slats on each window are made the same. And since several windows are usually designed, a lot of identical elements are required. If you are going to make platbands slotted, naturally there is a desire to cut several pieces at the same time, folding the boards in a pile and somehow fixing them.

The desire is understandable, but difficult to implement, and the benefits over time are not as great as it seems. The first difficulty is that home craftsmen usually have jigsaws of not too much power. To cut through several boards, you have to move the file more slowly along the intended pattern. On straight lines, the speed is still tolerable, on curves - low. And, the smaller the bending radius, the slower you have to move the file. If you work with one board, there are no such problems. So in terms of time, the gain, if any, is quite small.

One more moment. Even thick, good, expensive files are rejected with a large thickness of the workpiece. So, when cutting several boards at the same time, the quality of the cut on the bottom (or two) remains a big question.

The procedure for manufacturing a platband with a slotted thread

We transfer the desired drawing using a template to the board (where to get it, how to enlarge it, how to make a template, read below). If necessary, we correct, draw the details well. Next, we describe the procedure step by step.

We remove wood in the slots of the pattern

Since the carving will be looked at from afar, some inaccuracies are not fatal, but it is still worth striving for the ideal.

Making a curved edge

Some platbands have a smooth edge. Then we skip this step. If the edge is curly, you will still have to work with a jigsaw.

If the cut is difficult, not very attractive places may remain. It's not scary, then we will process them where necessary - with chisels, the same jigsaw, emery. When you are satisfied with the result, you can move on.

Finalization

Owners of wooden houses probably know everything about how to process wood. But, just in case, we repeat once again the general rules.

The choice of paints and varnishes is very wide. Suitable for any outdoor use. But keep in mind that opaque paints will have to be updated periodically - once a year for sure. And that means - to remove the old paint, primer, paint again. The situation is simpler with oils for wood - they do not leave a film on the surface of the wood, but are absorbed into the fibers. It is also necessary to update the coating, but just clean it of dust and cover with a new layer. And the processing frequency is less. Cons of oil for wood - higher price, fewer colors.

How to enlarge a template

Simple carved platbands can be made without templates. A few examples will be in the video - it shows how to draw, how to cut. But not everyone can draw more or less complex patterns on their own. It takes skill and talent. The easiest way is to find a diagram, print it in the right size, transfer it to cardboard and cut it out. You will get a template that you can circle.

The second way: draw from a photograph. Not all schemes can be found. Some, especially antique window frames, you will not find anywhere else. If there is at least some drawing ability, they can be copied.

Even such an ornament can be copied ... if you have the skill

You may have questions about how to increase the size of the found scheme or template. There are three options:

  • With the help of any graphic editor. The simplest - Paint - is on any computer running Windows (tab "Image", line "Resize image", select "centimeters" and put the desired length (height) in the box. The resulting file can be printed. If the printer is small, it may be necessary to split into several pages.They should then be glued together and, according to the resulting drawing, make a template.
  • With a photocopy. Copiers have a zoom function.
  • Taking graph paper, transfer the drawing to the desired scale. To do this, we divide the original image into squares with a side of 0.5 or 1 cm (you can print it on a sheet in a cage). Then we transfer the lines to graph paper, increasing them in the desired proportion.

The first two methods are faster. But when scaling, the picture may turn out to be fuzzy and blurry. It can be corrected by hand, it can be drawn in some editor, for example, CorelDRAW. See the video for how to do this. Just an example of drawing a diagram for a thread.

The style is completely different...

Hello dear reader!

He spent the weekend excellently: he rested with his family at the dacha of friends, which they recently acquired. Everything in the house was pleasing to the eye, except for the design of the window joints at the point of contact between the frames and the walls. I decided to help the guys by sending one of my architraves installation specialists to them. Everyone is happy with the result. Are the trims on your windows perfectly installed? Or are there a few annoying look "jambs"? Next, I will tell you how to fix the situation quickly and on your own.

How to make a PVC window trim yourself?

When finishing any plastic window, you need to work according to the standard algorithm. For example, if preliminary work is to be done, then all actions must comply with GOST 30971. If you wish, you can immediately get a visual presentation of information about the finishing process, for example, the window perimeter at the stage of installation of anchor plates, find out what is the purpose of the vapor barrier membrane.

Compliance with the requirements of GOST is the best prevention of problems during the operation of a self-supplied window: it will not leave the frame under the influence of wind or due to shedding of the mounting foam.

Because most of the problems arise due to errors in the installation of the main structure, and not due to errors made during finishing work.

Finishing work also has a sequence, without which the finished product will not look as worthy as we would like. But this problem is more aesthetic than applied. However, most of us are more pleased when the end result is not only reliable, but also visually attractive.

Preliminary work

When the frame is installed, the span is still unattractive in appearance. Stripes of bubbling polyurethane foam and other beauty flaws do not add to it. But soon everything will change. To begin with, if the installers have forgotten, it is necessary to carry out protection from a vapor barrier membrane so that moisture does not subsequently seep out of the heat-insulating layer.

Ever noticed the little plastic plugs on the outside of the frames? These are plugs placed in the openings of a double-glazed window to prevent the effect of suction.- a phenomenon that could manifest itself due to the abundance of rubber seals inside the structure. Without these plugs, due to moisture, some percentage of it is still inside the structure, it would be difficult to open the sashes. How to replace double-glazed windows if necessary.

As practice has shown, the plugs are not installed in vain.

It follows from this that the vapor barrier membrane should not be neglected - standards are developed for a reason, and the dryness of the sealant in the double-glazed window is very important. Therefore, I do not advise you to try to save a couple of cents by using manually perforated polyethylene instead of a vapor barrier membrane when finishing plastic windows.

What did the “smart” comrades come up with, who decided that nothing terrible would happen when replacing a special film with polyethylene for greenhouses?

  • you will purchase greenhouse polyethylene instead of a vapor barrier film required when finishing PVC windows;
  • you find or make something like a rolling machine (in the USSR, such fresh asphalt was rammed by hand);
  • if it was not possible to find a typewriter, you take an even log, saw off the desired piece and attach long handles to it on the sides;
  • you turn a smooth shaft into a “hedgehog” by driving in many small nails (each nail should stick out 3-4 millimeters above the surface);
  • for the final similarity of the rolling machine with the mentioned animal, all carnations must be decapitated, wielding with pincers at an acute angle;
  • you carry the resulting product over the greenhouse film, after which it becomes, supposedly, an excellent vapor-permeable material for finishing PVC windows.

In principle, you say, how does such a film differ from a store membrane? The latter, after all, also passes water. Yes only the rate of passage of moisture through the membrane and homemade vapor barrier film is different. The volumes of passing moisture will also be different. And most importantly: the film will not let moisture back in, and leaky polyethylene is very even.

Why cover mineral insulation with vapor barrier material? If you do not leave room for moisture to escape, then with a cold snap, condensation will begin to form in the cotton wool. In a short time, bacteria will breed in such an environment, from the vital activity of which the warming layer will begin to rot. The vapor-permeable membrane will protect against such an outcome, and will not allow atmospheric precipitation, and the steam formed from the breath of people, pets and indoor plants to penetrate in a significant volume inside the window structure.

What happens if you decide to use perforated polyethylene rather than a membrane?

Polyethylene will cope with excess water, but only when it accumulates at the bottom of the window structure. Besides he himself is an excellent material for the formation of condensate, which will only increase the volume of liquid that will be located near the window sill.

How everything will happen:

  • after rain, all drops that have fallen under the window trim will seep to the perimeter covered with polyethylene;
  • the holes in it will perfectly let all the moisture through;
  • the warming layer will be saturated with liquid and begin to rot (for example, the heat that has come will not help the moisture evaporate from the mineral wool, but will only speed up the process and will take place at any time of the year).

If the window opening is covered with a vapor-permeable film, such a disgrace will not happen - it lets steam in and only removes it.

Therefore, working with a membrane is a mandatory basic step before starting finishing work around the window perimeter.

If it is not there, then you tighten it, if there is, you skip this step, rejoicing that the pros have worked on the window.

Installation of slopes, platbands

If the vapor barrier film is laid, you take on the installation of platbands. If there is no membrane, you clean up all the excess mounting foam, lay the film, and then look for an L-shaped (as in the old Russian alphabet - with a squiggle on the top bar) starting profile in the mass of profiles. From there, start a new stage of work.

Screw the plank with the long side facing the street to the window perimeter using semi-cylindrical screws. In this case, the upper edge of the profile should lie down on the edge of the window, so that the joint will immediately look more attractive. On the other hand, for slopes, you need to place a crate. Attach a rail along the inner perimeter of the window opening. How to determine its width? If you have experience in homework, then choose a rail that can withstand the impact of dowel-nails and the head of the clamping screws does not look beyond its edges.

T now proceed to the direct installation of slopes, the profile for which has an inner edge similar to the English letter F. Fill the resulting gap with a glazing bead, or stick pieces of plastic into it to ensure better strength. Mount the slope on the starting profile, and screw the opposite end to the crate. Corner joints are masked by platbands, which, in fact, are the same F-profile, mounted with a middle border under the slope itself. Above the places opposite the self-tapping screws, you will make 2-3 cm recesses, after which you will carefully install the trim.

The final stage of work is associated with sealing the joints with silicone. Cover generously, in all corners, and remove all smudges with your hand or using something, such as a board. We can assume that he was prepared for the installation of the window sill.

How to install a window sill?

Educational videos for customers who purchase a product make life easier for customers. People get information about how to properly use what they bought. Potential customers, on the other hand, learn about new technologies through training videos and are more willing to purchase innovative products from those suppliers who helped them get acquainted with new market offers.

Now I offer a verbal description of the installation of window sills manufactured by Werzalit.

Thanks to the special design of its products, you can install the window sill using one of the methods you like:

  • planted on cement;
  • fixed with glue;
  • installing consoles.

For the first method, use ordinary cement.

While the solution is ripening, give the window sill a perfectly even position, focusing on the level readings. The back of the profile should be brought under the window, and the front should protrude somewhat above the edge of the lower window span. I recommend to push the product no further than 10 cm. And if possible, reduce the exit distance of the edge of the window sill - so it is less likely that it will be broken off during the operation of the window. Leveling strips, I advise you to take thin planks, should also not be located further than 10 cm from the wall.

All planks that remain under the windowsill must be treated with an antiseptic composition. How many of them are needed for each window sill depends on the evenness of the wall relief - you need to achieve the ideal location of the canvas. After all corrective maneuvers, strengthen the structures in a given position with portions of cement. For reliability, put mounting plates from below. For a better connection between the window sill and the bonding layer, put bricks on top of the panel for a couple of days, after laying something non-staining under them.

Mounting the window sill with glue will appeal to those who do not like to mess with cement due to a shortage of sand or difficulties in delivering it to the construction site.

Given the peculiarity of the bonding mixture, it is necessary to coat with it not only the surface of the wall and window sill, but also all the planks placed under the panel. The design in terms of reliability will not be inferior to that performed with the help of cement. And fill all the resulting voids with construction foam or even mineral wool. On the console, plant the window sill with glue too.

Photo of carved plastic architraves

Unlike wood, plastic platbands do not lose their original attractiveness over time, because they do not dry out, do not peel, do not rot and do not change appearance under the influence of a fungus. Their functionality is similar: to prevent moisture from flowing into mounting gaps, to reduce heat loss and increase the sound transmission of double-glazed windows, to mask the joints between the box and the wall.

The plastic origin does not prevent the use of carved platbands both when finishing frames with PVC panels and structures with wooden frames. If desired, the platbands can be made in the same color as the window profiles. The technology allows you to imitate the wood of ash, oak, wenge, etc. There are also no restrictions in design and texture, so finished products can be matched to match the overall facade or contrast sharply with it. But the stylistic unity should not be violated so that the building does not look comical. So a smooth PVC trim does not suit a log house, but a carved “under the tree” will be more than in place. In the photo I give many worthy examples to guide you in options with successful style combinations.

When choosing platbands, do not forget about polyurethane options. Like those made of PVC, they are not afraid of typical climatic tests, they do not deform under moderate mechanical stress. Due to plasticity, they are best suited for windows in the form of portholes or those with a semi-arch on top. Polyurethane is a light material, so the platbands made of it are very light, as well as various elements for creating catchy bas-reliefs and other decorative elements for facades.

Do not settle for foam plastic options. Yes, they are cheap, but they are not street material. It is too fragile - you take care of its installation, and a day later, after a strong wind, you again have a field of unplowed work in front of you. Not only will you have to take a replacement, but you can’t do without peeling off the remnants of foam products.

Platbands for windows are overhead, and are telescopic, with locks for connecting the elements that make up the structure. Often the second option comes with extensions, which is very convenient - it is much easier to create a single ensemble. Therefore, even when deciding in favor of an overhead casing, it is better to immediately purchase an addition to it.

What are the platbands used to secure? At your disposal are nails, screws and adhesive pastes. If there are no fastening locks in the details, then individual elements at the joints will have to be sawn off at an angle of 45 degrees. I think the most convenient way to fix it is mounting on metal fasteners. It is necessary to freshen up the facade by painting or washing - the platbands were removed, then put on. I wanted to replace a part - please, some kind of platband was deformed - you can also change it without problems.

Double-sided tape is only good for indoor use. Use it for mounting platbands on the facade - just add work to yourself. The platbands will scatter both from strong winds and in the case of a particularly hot or rainy season.

If necessary, you can easily find both flat and profiled trim options. The second variety of products has a lot of options: asymmetric, symmetrical, combined and curvilinear. Due to the fact that plastic does not swell from water, does not deform from heat, the products do not swell from street moisture, so the adjustment of structural elements according to the pattern will remain under any climatic conditions.

Range

PVC windows give the facades of buildings a special nobility. But do not be on the windows, standing flush with the wall of the architraves, the impression of the view is much worse. Therefore, platbands were invented to ennoble the butt gaps between the wall of the building and the window frame. After all, even an expert in the installation of plastic windows, the joints in the wall will not go anywhere. Unless they are covered with a pretty and practical trim.

Why are they needed?

The main decorative task of the platband is to make the place of contact between the window frame and the wall attractive. But it also has more applied functions: it does not allow sunlight, wind, moisture to affect the connecting seam, which means it protects the mounting foam from the weathering process.

Varieties

I'll start with a typical variant - flat. budget proposal, which pleases not only with the affordability of the price, but also with the simplest installation scheme. When the appearance of the facade is not required to cause a surge of emotions, installing a flat platband is the best solution.

Architraves with a profiled interior have some kind of bulges that retain their shape in frost, heat or high humidity. There are many options with different patterns, so choose what you like - everyone will have the same impeccable quality.

But remember that at the corners you will have to trim and combine, so soberly assess your strengths.

I do not recommend choosing carved architraves if the drawing is clearly discordant with the general style of the task. If you can not pick up the platbands of the desired color, do not rush to purchase something from the assortment available in the nearest stores - look in those that are further away. Or use the network - today there are a lot of color options, so it is still possible to find the right color of the casing.

What are they made of

Sheet monolithic or structured plasticit is the most demanded material in the production of flat products. It tolerates temperature fluctuations well, does not lose its qualities under prolonged exposure to ultraviolet radiation, and is not afraid of moisture. When mixed with pigments, a qualitatively colored base is obtained, so there are almost no problems with the selection of the platband of the desired color.

Plastic almost does not elongate if it does not fall under the influence of extremely high temperatures (they do not happen in everyday life). It does not change the given shape and under the influence of water. That's why in plastic structures there is no gap s, without which you can not do when working with other materials.

Polyurethane (PVC) architraves most often embossed. The properties of the material make it possible to translate any design ideas into real forms, use finished products on facades and indoors.

Like plastic, polyurethane platbands are not afraid of heat, moisture, frost.

Qualitatively made flat or embossed MDF architraves anyone will be enchanted by beauty. But I recommend to put them only indoors- products are deformed during prolonged contact with a humid environment, so for outdoor use this is not the most practical option. Of course, no one can stop it. But will everyone raise their hand, personally send a beautiful casing, and even an expensive one, for a certain deformation?

The most affordable are foam platbands. But they are as light as they are susceptible to mechanical stress. Because of this, neither excellent thermal insulation performance, nor resistance to low temperatures and moisture should tempt you to buy this option. Except for indoor use.

Left for dessert platbands made of natural wood. Profiled, flat, shaped - any are good. Even if there is no hand or machine carving. But if during the manufacture the manufacturer deviated from the technology or wised up with the finishing, then you will not admire the beauty for very long. After a year or two, deformation will begin, the canvas will begin to crack.

When choosing platbands, be guided by your capabilities, the final price of products and the functionality declared by the manufacturer. Do not take cheap, but you should not pay big money if you are not sure that the purchase will work for at least a decade without losing its original appearance.

How to fasten platbands?

You can also install the trim on a PVC window yourself, adopting the most appropriate mounting option in your case.

If you like to follow the beaten path, mount the elements on the PVC frame itself or on the wall next to it - these are the most popular ways to fix the cladding panels. If you chose removable elements, then do not rush to firmly attach them with self-tapping screws or something else - look for latches on the products. But in order for the panels to hold, special metal elements will need to be placed on the frame. Then click-click and you can decorate the window, tired of the platbands - took off in five minutes and all the cases. Faster only on double-sided tape glue. But such decorations will last only until the first strong wind.

Why do plastic windows need platbands?

Overhead strips, trim, platbands - these are all names of the same elements for sewing up mounting gaps. These not so wide seams, no matter how hard you try, even after the work of professionals, they do not look the most attractive way. All the same, there are gaps, bumps, drops of foam that do not improve the appearance of the wall with a window. The seams look especially sad a couple of years after the installation of the window: whether the building led a little or natural erosion processes were to blame, and the gaps near the window frame began to grow. In general, there is no question of aesthetics if the seams are not covered with platbands.

But if you don’t give a damn about the appearance of the window, but only care about the quality and reliability of installation work, then you will also have to spend money on the purchase and installation of platbands. Because the overlay panels block the access of moisture and wind to the seams, prevent the foam layer from collapsing and postpone the next corrective work to restore the condition of the insulating layers. Therefore, platbands have not only a decorative purpose, but also applied, that is, useful.

Platbands can be placed on the outside and on the inside of the window. What they will be, decide for yourself, choosing overhead or telescopic, figured, flat or rounded.

If you plan to bring the Internet, then I advise you to purchase platbands with an existing cable channel.

Mounting algorithm

First, clean the place where the panels are to be installed as best as possible: remove protruding excess foam from the joints, clean out debris and pouring drops adhering to the walls. If the platbands are edged, carefully adjust the appearance of the panels using a level and other auxiliary tools.

Overhead panels on the frames are fixed with special glue, self-tapping screws or liquid nails. Well, I think you understand that the use of hardware is preferable if very windy weather is systematically in your area. Although it seems that this work does not require special professionalism, but if you are not particularly confident in your abilities, it is better to invite a specialist. Masterfully done work is also more pleasant to look at, and the result will last longer.

For clients who crave a flawless result, fall into a trance at the sight of a pair of nails, telescopic platbands were invented. These planks have a special protrusion for insertion into the groove of the box, so the front side of the planks has an impeccable appearance - all fasteners are hidden under the protrusion.

How to keep an attractive look longer?

Proper maintenance of cladding panels is simple.

Like all plastic products, trims can be wiped with a damp, clean rag or sponge using a soapy detergent solution without aggressive components.

Gently rub heavily soiled places, you can lather the dusty area harder. But do not use a brush with coarse fibers, especially do not use a metal brush - micro stripes may remain on the plastic surface, into which street dust will begin to fill and the casing will soon lose its original attractiveness.

Where can you buy?

In the same place where you will order, or ordered double-glazed windows or a complete frame structure. Panels are considered fittings, so they do not come with the main product - their presence and installation must be ordered as a separate item. Although, if you want, you can purchase panels elsewhere, and fix them in place yourself or invite any master you trust.

You can buy ready-made architraves or order the production of individual elements with a unique design. The length of standard panels is 2 m 20 cm, the width is from 4 to 7 cm. The color assortment is also pleasing, so you can decorate the windows of your house with white, colored platbands or order laminated elements.

Modern options and types of fastening

Platbands are designed to give a window or door a complete look. Panels have been used to decorate windows for more than one century, but they also look appropriate on modern facades if they are selected in accordance with the general style of the building. In addition to the decorative function, they also have practical purpose - they close the mounting gaps between the window frame and the sides of the span. In the presence of panels, a beautifully designed window will not lose its attractiveness if the gap between the window and the walls increases slightly due to, for example, shrinkage of the house.

It is easy to choose suitable platbands, as most distributors are ready to offer you flat, curly, rounded elements of any desired color from veneer, aluminum, PVC, MDF, steel. I think you can pick the right ones yourself. If you find it difficult to choose the material, then consult with the managers. But anyway, if the house is made of wood, then the platbands must be selected from a similar material or for it. Then the view of the house will sparkle with new colors and will please the eye with its elegance.

The most popular type of platbands with customers is PVC products, for fixing which on surfaces you can use glue, ordinary and liquid nails, screws, self-tapping screws. If you yourself do not yet have experience working with such elements or are not sure that it will turn out neatly enough, then invite the master.

The platbands are fixed by imposing or by inserting into a groove (telescopic). The latter option is attractive in that at the end of the work, no fasteners are visible on the front side of the bar.

When the window structure takes its place, mounting gaps and slopes must be closed with platbands. After placing the top bar in the fastening profile, fold the casing onto the wall surface and fix it with screws. After the turn, draw slopes according to the same algorithm. Using a miter box, make the corners at the ends of the planks, and then connect the strips. At the points of contact of the strips, treat the seams with sealants, acting quickly and as carefully as possible.

By the same principle, you can decorate the frame of the door frame.

In order not to lay a television cable or other “cords” near it later, it is better to purchase platbands with a cable channel once.

Then all the wires will be hidden from prying eyes, but the masking will not affect the quality of the communication systems. Nails, screws, self-tapping screws do not have to be used if the products have a special fastening system.

Homemade platbands

I would like the country house to look, albeit small, but a palace, so you spend both energy, time, and money on its decoration. After installing plastic windows, you can’t do without installing platbands- if you want the new "eyes" of the house to look beautiful, and the mounting seams do not become unusable due to moisture and wind. Handy owners can make platbands on their own, rather than buying ready-made overhead elements.

When making your own platbands, first take the necessary measurements. Be sure to calculate the distance from the bottom of the box to the top, taking into account the width of the future casing. Then shape the edges of the strips, ensuring that the trims cut at the corner have exactly 45 degrees.- then the adjoining plates will ideally adjoin each other, which is very important for an attractive appearance of the whole structure.

After cutting the products, fasten them to a permanent place of residence, taking into account the strength and weight of the plates. Wooden ones are best fixed with small thin carnations. If the surface for fasteners is brick, then you can’t do without a drill - fastening with glue, in my opinion, is not a very good idea. Although many practice just such an installation option.

PVC

Do you want the metal-plastic window to look perfect on the wall? Then take care of the installation of platbands, the elements for which can be bought both in a hardware store and from a supplier of metal-plastic construction. What material is best for you? Make a choice taking into account what your house is built of, the shape of future platbands. Usually sellers are always ready to offer plastic, wooden, plywood and metal platbands.

I consider the most convenient option to be universal platbands that come with beautiful panels. Such a product looks good on a window with any profile, forming a harmonious complex with it.

Installation of platbands is so simple that even a novice home master can master the technology.

In a wooden house

If windows in wooden houses do not have platbands, then the appearance of such buildings has a somewhat state-of-the-art appearance. Which is not very pretty, in my opinion. Even a simple trim with simple carvings, which even an inexperienced carpenter or carpenter can do, will make the facade of the house much more attractive.

To make a nice trim to the window of a wooden house, you will need the usual tools: a jigsaw (an electric one will simplify the work), a cutter, a drill.

With a jigsaw, you can make patterns of any complexity. It will be easier to work if you choose an aspen, linden, alder or pine board as the base material, with a thickness of 0.5 to 5 cm.

Do not go to extremes, trying to achieve an attractive appearance of the casing with the help of an abundance of small details.

Let them be less, but each element must have an impeccable appearance. When an element has clear edges, you admire it from afar.

Templates

To use a template, you first need to make a basic drawing, and then make a template out of wood from it.

Is it worth it to make your own?

If the installation of platbands seems like a difficult task for you, then without any remorse, go to the company where you bought the windows. There, even if they themselves are not engaged in the sale of panels for decorating windows, they will always tell you a couple of addresses where you can buy everything you need. They will also give the addresses of several masters who accept orders for the installation of platbands.

Do not worry that in the assortment of platbands you will not find the option you need. Manufacturers have calculated everything for a long time, so they are ready to please you with simple and carved elements made of metal, wood, plastic, and in a good way stun them with color options. I'm sure you will definitely find the option that suits you completely. Moreover, the master will install each of them on the windows of your house, if not in a jiffy, then much faster than you.

Of course, if you are a jack of all trades, then you will not go to the store for wooden architraves. Which of the needleworkers will refuse the chance to decorate their home with their own hand-made product? If the plans are to install platbands from some modern material, then home Kulibin will cope with such a product without much difficulty.

For clients who do not seek to carry out at least some construction work on their own, a staff of installers, builders and designers is always at the service. A joint union of specialists will help achieve the desired result and make your home special and attractive.

for euro windows

A beautiful platband is appropriate not only on windows from old Russian fairy tales, but from modern metal-plastic double-glazed windows. In addition to the decorative purpose, each platband performs a useful function - it protects the mounting joints from water, wind, and destruction under the influence of ultraviolet radiation.

Mounting

The process of installing platbands is preceded by the dismantling of the old window structure and the installation of a new window with modern double-glazed windows. After foaming the joints with foam and installing the slopes, even if all the work is done professionally, it is advisable to equip the openings with platbands.

The exception is the windows "recessed" deep into the wall - then the platbands will look like an inappropriate addition.

Most often, residents of the first floors, owners of their own cottages are especially reverent about the type of windows. Those people who live on 5 floors and above are not particularly concerned with how their windows look from the street.

What will the presence of platbands on the windows of the house give you?

Unconditional pluses:

  • an exclusive look (yes, not all windows have this addition, which is pleasant for the eyes and useful for the windows themselves);
  • attractiveness;
  • protection of assembly seams from adverse factors;
  • strengthening the noise and thermal insulation properties of the window.

I didn't notice any downsides to platbands. We will not accept as such small expenses for the acquisition and installation of these elements?

Platbands for interior window trim are rarely ordered. But if you want to give your room a particularly elegant look, then PVC cladding is a very affordable and easy way to achieve this. You won’t make it worse for your windows, but I’ll say right away that such a solution has no practical component. After all, windows from the side of the premises are not threatened by moisture, wind or sun.

Examples of making carved platbands in the video:

Rare decorative options

If you are a fan of elements of increased decorativeness, then you will have to upset you a little: the manufacturers have nothing to offer you if you look for a solution among the standard options. But who's stopping you from making an individual order for the manufacture of exclusive architraves? Moreover, they can be both plastic and wooden. And the last option, I think, is much easier to get. You just need to find a suitable carpenter or joiner. It will come out cheaper, since craftsmen often work on single non-standard options, and mass product manufacturers are simply limited in the toolkit for fulfilling individual orders according to individual sketches. And if they do, they demand a lot of money for their services.

Beautiful architraves are guaranteed to transform the look of your home. Especially if the color and material of additional elements is chosen taking into account the general style of the house. And what is important: such a wonderful decoration is quite affordable, does not require much professionalism from a person who decides to decorate the windows of the house with pretty platbands on his own.
