Designing a one-room apartment design is not an easy task for a designer. This is due to the fact that the only living space should perform several different functions at once - provide an opportunity for work or study, serve as a place for communication, relaxation and night sleep, and in some cases, be at the same time a children's room. In addition, the footage of such apartments, as a rule, does not allow the designer to apply standard solutions, it is not enough just to fence off a corner for each zone, it is necessary to preserve the feeling of free space to the maximum, which increases the comfort of living.

The use of light colors in the design of the apartment made it possible to create coziness in a small space and maintain a sense of spaciousness. The living room has only 17 sq. m. area, but all the necessary functional areas are located here, and each of them performs several functions at once. So, the recreation area, or “sofa”, at night turns into a bedroom, a relaxation area with an armchair and a bookcase can easily be converted into a study or playroom for a child.
The corner location of the kitchen made it possible to organize the dining area, and the floor-to-ceiling glass door leading to the loggia added light and air.

In this project, the load-bearing wall proved to be an obstacle to changing the layout, so the designers had to work within the given space. The living room was divided into two parts by an open shelving - this simple solution is very effective in many cases, allowing visual differentiation of zones without cluttering up the space and reducing the light flux.
The bed is located by the window, there is also a kind of mini-study - a small bureau desk with a desk chair. The rack performs the function of a bedside table in the sleeping part.
At the back of the room, behind a shelving unit that doubles as a bookcase and display case for souvenirs, is a living room with a comfortable sofa and a large TV. A full-wall wardrobe allows you to store a lot of things and does not clutter up the space; its mirrored doors visually double the room and enhance its illumination.
The refrigerator was moved from the kitchen to the hallway, as a result, space was freed up for the dining area. Hanging cabinets on one of the walls were abandoned to make the kitchen seem more spacious.

A good project that shows how convenient and taking into account all the requirements for the modern level of comfort to equip an apartment for one or two people, while not resorting to changing the original planning solution.
The main room is the living room. From the furniture in the room: a comfortable corner sofa, a large-screen TV mounted on a hanging console - on the opposite wall. For clothes and other necessary things, a voluminous storage system is provided. There is also a coffee table that adds completeness to the interior. At night, the living room transforms into a bedroom - the unfolded sofa forms a comfortable place to sleep.
If necessary, the living room easily turns into a study: to do this, you need to open two doors of the storage system - behind them is a countertop, a small shelf for documents and books; the work chair slides out from under the tabletop.
In order not to burden the space, which is already not too much, the kitchen abandoned the traditional top row of hanging shelves, replacing them with open shelves.
At the same time, there are even more places where you can keep kitchen utensils and supplies - the entire wall opposite the work area is occupied by a large storage system with a niche in which a sofa is built. Next to him is a small dining group. A rationally organized space allowed not only to save free space, but also to reduce the cost of kitchen furniture.

In the project of a one-room apartment of 37 sq. m. every square centimeter is used. The sofa, armchairs and a coffee table, which form a relaxation area, are raised to the podium and thus stand out from the total volume. At night, a bed is pulled out from under the podium: an orthopedic mattress provides a good night's sleep.
The TV panel opposite is built into a large storage system - its volume made it possible to correct the initially incorrect, too elongated shape of the room. Beneath it is a living flame, covered with a bio-fireplace glass. A screen is hidden in the box above the storage system - it can be lowered to watch movies.
The kitchen, which is small in size, contains three functional zones at once:
- a storage system with a worktop and kitchen equipment is built along one of the walls, forming a kitchen;
- near the window there is a dining area, consisting of a round table and four designer chairs around it;
- on the windowsill there is a lounge area where you can relax and drink coffee over a friendly conversation, enjoying the views from the window.

Even in a small one-room apartment, you can have a separate bedroom, and for this you don’t need to move the walls or build the space like a studio: the kitchen occupies a separate volume and is completely fenced off from the rest of the apartment.
The project provides for the location of the bedroom near the only window. There is a standard double bed, a narrow chest of drawers that acts as a dressing table, and one bedside table. The role of the second bedside table is performed by a low partition between the bedroom and the living room - its height allows you to maintain the feeling of a large space and provides daylight to the entire living area.
Lilac wallpaper with a delicate pattern harmonizes with the mustard color of the walls in the design of the kitchen, made in the same style as the room.

Maximum functionality and impeccable design are the main advantages of the project. The living room and the bedroom were visually separated by wooden slats: starting from the bed, they reach the ceiling and can change orientation similarly to blinds: in the daytime they “open” and let light into the living room, at night they “close” and isolate the sleeping place.
Light in the living room is added by the lower illumination of the console chest of drawers, effectively highlighting the main decorative piece of furniture: a coffee table made from a cut of a huge trunk. On the chest of drawers is a bio-fuel fireplace, and above it is a TV panel. Opposite is a comfortable sofa.
The bedroom has a double-use wardrobe that stores not only clothes, but also books. Bed linen is removed in a drawer under the bed.
Due to the corner arrangement of kitchen furniture and the island - the oven, it was possible to organize a small dining area.

In the project of a one-room apartment, the residential volume is divided into two: private and public. This was done thanks to the corner location of the apartment, which led to the presence of two windows in the room. The use of IKEA furniture in the design made it possible to reduce the budget of the project. Bright textiles were used as decorative accents.
Ceiling to floor storage separates the bedroom and living room. On the side of the living room, the storage system has a niche for a TV, as well as shelves for storing things. Against the opposite wall, there is a structure of drawers, in the center of which sofa cushions form a cozy place to relax.
From the side of the bedroom, it has an open niche, which replaces the bedside table for the owners. Another cabinet is suspended from the wall - you can place a pouffe under it to save space.
The main color in the design of a small kitchen is white, which makes it visually more spacious. The dining table is foldable to save space. Its natural wood countertop softens the strict style of decoration and makes the kitchen more comfortable.

The main condition set before the designers was the preservation of the isolated position of the kitchen. In addition, it was necessary to provide for a fairly large number of storage places. The living area was supposed to accommodate a bedroom, a living room, a dressing room and a small office for work. And all this - on 36 square meters. m.
The main design idea of a one-room apartment is the division of functional areas and their logical combination using contrasting colors of the spectrum: red, white and black.
Red in the design actively highlights the seating area in the living room and the office on the loggia, logically connecting them together. The black and white elegant pattern that adorns the head of the bed is repeated in a softer color combination in the decoration of the office and bathroom. A black wall with a TV panel and a storage system visually pushes the sofa part, expanding the space.
The bedroom was placed in a niche, having built a podium - it can be used to store things.

One-room apartment project 43 sq. m. (Studio Guinea)
Having at their disposal a standard "odnushka" series 10/11/02 PIR-44 with a ceiling height of 2.57, the designers decided to use the square meters provided to them to the maximum, while doing without redevelopment in the design of a one-room apartment.
The successful location of the doorways made it possible to allocate space in the room for a separate dressing room. The partition was lined with white decorative brick, as was part of the adjacent wall - the brick in the design highlighted a place to relax with an armchair and a decorative fireplace.
The sofa, which serves as a sleeping place, was highlighted with the help of wallpaper with a pattern.
A separate resting place was also organized in the kitchen, replacing two chairs in the dining area with a small sofa.

The combination of white, gray and warm beige hues created a relaxing, calm atmosphere. The living room has two zones. Near the window there is a large bed, in front of which a TV panel on a bracket is installed above a tall narrow chest of drawers. It can be turned towards a small seating area with a sofa and a coffee table, accented by a solid beige floor carpet and located at the back of the room.
The upper part of the wall opposite the bed is decorated with a huge mirror attached to the wall on a special frame. This adds light and makes the room visually much more spacious.
The corner kitchen provides plenty of storage space. The combination of gray oak fronts of the lower row of cabinets, white gloss of the upper ones and the shiny surface of the glass backsplash adds a play of textures and brilliance.

The design of the apartment is decorated in a modern style - a lot of wood, natural materials, nothing superfluous - just what is needed. Glass was used to separate the sleeping area from the rest of the living space - such a partition practically does not take up space, it allows you to maintain the illumination of the entire room and at the same time makes it possible to isolate the private part of the apartment from prying eyes - for this a curtain is used, which can be pushed back if desired.
In the decoration of the isolated kitchen, white is used as the main color, and the color of natural light wood serves as an additional color.

An excellent example of how competent zoning can achieve comfortable living conditions in a limited space for a family with children.
The room is divided into two parts by a special structure built for this purpose, which hides the storage system. From the side of the nursery, this is a closet for storing clothes and toys, from the side of the living room, which serves as a bedroom for parents, there is a spacious storage system for clothes and other things.
In the children's part, a loft bed was placed, under which there was a place for schoolchildren to study. The “adult part” serves as a living room during the daytime, at night the sofa turns into a double bed.

In order to visually enlarge the room, the designer used standard tools - the gloss of glossy and mirror surfaces, functional storage spaces and light colors of finishing materials.
The total area was divided into three zones: children, parents and dining. The children's part is highlighted with a delicate greenish finish. There is a baby crib, a chest of drawers, it is also a changing table, and a chair for feeding. In the parent area, in addition to the bed, there is a small living room with a TV panel and a study - the window sill was replaced with a countertop, and an armchair was placed next to it.

Combining all the functional segments of the home with the isolation of only the bathroom has gained such high popularity all over the world for a reason. This design technique allows you to create the most comfortable and spacious room as much as possible in principle with the number of available square meters. If twenty years ago this type of dwelling was still a novelty for our compatriots, it is now practiced with great success for married couples without children or singles.
Did you get a studio apartment with a ready-made layout or did you have to demolish all non-load-bearing partitions on your own - the result is the same - you need to properly distribute the available space. The advantage of such premises is that the entire space is evenly illuminated by the sun's rays (there are no partitions or other obstacles) and it seems larger than its actual size due to the use of an open layout. But at the same time, it is still necessary to provide sources of artificial lighting for each functional segment.
One of the advantages of using an open floor plan is the absence of any partitions and obstacles not only for traffic, but also for the spread of light. Zoning of functional segments occurs with the help of furniture. You can also mark the conditional boundaries of each zone using carpeting (in the living room and bedroom segment, for example) and a lighting system (obviously, one central chandelier is not enough for the entire room).

For some, a frosted glass interior partition is enough, while others need thick curtains that do not let in light. Depending on the size of the room, the number of windows and the size of the bed (single or large double), which needs to be separated, you can choose the following design options for sleeping areas:
The sleeping and rest area behind the interior partition gives the owners a sense of some privacy, but at the same time does not completely separate the segment from the common space. At the same time, the light from the windows can also penetrate into the sleeping area, if there is no window opening there. As an interior partition, it is most practical to use shelving or cabinets. It can be either a double-sided rack with open shelves, or a storage system on one side and a surface on which you can hang shelves, a mirror, a TV or wall decor on the other.
Curtains, roller blinds, vertical blinds, and other types of fabric barriers can be a sleeping space option for those who need privacy. This method does not require you to build partitions. You only need to install a guide for fastening curtains or blinds. If the guide is attached to the ceiling, then in the curtained version, the sleep area will not receive its share of natural light (provided that there is no window in the sleeping segment). If you place the curtain rod at the level of a person’s height, then the remaining space will be enough to provide a segment, albeit dim, but still lighting.
Another option for creating a fence for a berth is to design a zone using glass (or partially such) partitions. Almost half of the sun's rays penetrate through the matte surfaces, but what is happening behind the partition remains indistinguishable. The glass partition gives a sense of isolation on the one hand, and leaves the thought of belonging to a common space on the other.
Experts recommend using glass inserts for partitions in case of creating a fully insulated segment for sleeping and relaxing. Even small transparent inserts ranging from the ceiling to the doorway will help provide the sleeping area with a small amount of natural light, which can be enough to stay in this segment during the daytime. For evening and night time, in any case, you will provide the room with lighting fixtures.
Kitchen design in a small apartment
As a rule, the kitchen space in standard (and even more so in small-sized) apartments has an area of no more than 6.5 square meters. And on this small piece of space it is necessary to place all the necessary household appliances, storage systems, not forgetting about the organization of the dining area. Usually, there is not enough space for this functional segment, and the dining table with chairs has to be moved to the common room, placing the dining room near the living area. But if a married couple without children lives in a one-room apartment, you can organize a small place for meals by extending the countertop of the kitchen island or by adapting an enlarged window sill for this purpose.
Experts recommend abandoning ready-made kitchen solutions in favor of custom-made sets that will accurately match the capabilities of a modest-sized room and use its advantages most effectively. There are never too many storage systems, especially in the kitchen space. Even a small niche near the gas column or the space under the windowsill can become a place to install a wall cabinet or an open shelf.
In a long and narrow kitchen, it is most logical to use the parallel layout of the furniture set. With such a distribution of storage systems, household appliances and work surfaces between rows of kitchen cabinets, there is usually only room for movement, but not for installing a dining group. If the length of the kitchen space allows, then you can install a large dining table with chairs or a compact kitchen corner in one of the corners of the room in front of the entrance. Otherwise, the dining area will have to be moved to a common room.
If the kitchen is part of a common room, then a linear or angular (L-shaped) layout is most often used as the layout of the kitchen set. If there is enough space to organize the kitchen segment, then the set can be supplemented with a kitchen island or peninsula, which most often becomes a place for meals by extending the countertop. But in most cases, you have to limit yourself to the linear arrangement of the furniture ensemble with integrated household appliances. The kitchen area and the rest of the room, as a rule, have the same finish. An exception is made only for the design of a kitchen apron and sometimes flooring in the working area.
