Children's sports complex in the apartment: do it yourself. Homemade ladder - Swedish wall - do-it-yourself Wooden Swedish walls with your own hands for children

Children have always been highly active, they are avid lovers of outdoor games and unusual pastime. But, unfortunately, not every parent can afford to equip a separate room for a child with a study area, a sports corner (which is especially necessary for the younger generation) and allocate a comfortable place for privacy.

An excellent option even for a small apartment would be a Swedish wall. It is not difficult to make it with your own hands. But it will allow children to have fun, without harm to health and the surrounding space.

Necessary materials

To equip a sports corner you will need:

  • lumber - two main wooden posts about two meters long (pine is a good fit) and two crossbars 0.7 m long;
  • material for the crossbars - you can use cuttings for a shovel, it is convenient to select them according to their diameter and do not require additional processing;
  • fasteners - furniture bolts, metal corners, screws;
  • surface treatment materials - paint, varnish, primer, sandpaper;
  • tools - drill, screwdriver, wrenches, screwdrivers.

Having prepared all the necessary materials and tools, you can begin to start work. You can make a Swedish wall with your own hands according to any project, or you can independently think over the location and supplement the design with the elements you like (for example, a rope, rings, a rope ladder, a press bar or a horizontal bar).

Creating such a sports corner at home gives you the opportunity to show your imagination as much as possible both in the configuration and in the finish, creating, for example, a multi-colored wall or a plain one, covering it with varnish.

Work order

Thinking in advance about the sequence of the necessary steps, you can save a lot of time. Any construction project or renovation requires careful preparation, including the Swedish wall. Do-it-yourself drawings will also have to be done, but it's not difficult. But they will help to reduce preparation time and avoid possible defects due to inaccurate parameters and non-compliance with relevant indicators.

Lumber preparation

When buying racks, you need to immediately think about the method of their fastening and, if possible, ask the factory to round off the corners additionally, make notches so that the crossbars are more firmly fastened.

Attach the crossbars to the racks at an angle of approximately eighty degrees. This arrangement will provide the greatest strength of the structure and enable it to withstand sufficient weight.

The choice of material for the Swedish wall should be based on the estimated weight of the children, since each type of wood has its own strength. The more kids will play there, the more reliable the design should be so that there are no injuries.

The Swedish wall with their own hands is most often made of pine lumber and pine cuttings (for arranging steps). Fastening of racks and crossbeams is carried out with the help of furniture bolts. They firmly hold the structure and withstand heavy loads. On each side, you need to use 4-5 of these bolts.

Step preparation

To save money and not waste time on complex processing, you can use ready-made cuttings for shovels of a suitable diameter as steps. For younger children, it will be enough to purchase about a dozen cuttings 120 cm long.

Depending on the chosen width of the stairs (most often it is 80 or 100 cm), the material is cut, recesses are made in the main racks with a drill and a suitable pen - holes into which the steps will be inserted. If the diameter of the handle is slightly larger than the hole, you can grind off its end.

Important! It is necessary to pay special attention to the depth of the holes, since in order to avoid defects, it must be the same in absolutely all recesses. Although the Swedish wall is made with your own hands, it involves the preservation of all sizes with their exact observance.

So that the crossbars do not scroll and, accordingly, the wall is as safe as possible, you need to glue the ends to the holes of the racks. For the convenience of this stage, it is recommended to prepare a template in advance, then there will be no inaccuracies with measurements and the work will take much less time.

Surface treatment

Depending on the possibilities and personal preferences, you can choose to paint the wall or varnish it. Each of the options has both its advantages and disadvantages.

Painting allows you to create different color combinations, decorate racks with patterns or drawings. Before finishing, all surfaces must be carefully primed, this will extend the life of the structure and improve its performance.

It is advisable to paint in two layers. In this case, the first should dry completely (takes about two days). It is the large expenditure of time that is the disadvantage in this method of finishing.

Varnishing a Swedish wall with varnish is much faster. But such a sports corner will look traditional, there will be no opportunity to show your imagination with might and main.

Having understood this issue, everyone must independently choose the option that is suitable for themselves. Children's Swedish wall, built with their own hands, will delight not only your children, but also you, as it will become a real masterpiece.

wall mount

Attaching the structure to the wall is carried out using metal corners. Fasteners are screwed to each rack at different heights, ideally there should be three of them. Suitable holes are pre-drilled in the wall, into which anchor bolts will then be driven.

Having placed the Swedish wall in the prepared place with a hammer, you need to hammer the anchors into the wall through the holes in the metal corner. At this stage, the Swedish wall is almost done with your own hands.

Equipping the wall with additional elements

For greater comfort and variety, additional elements can be installed on the Swedish wall. They can be rings, a rope ladder and more.

Making rings on your own can be very difficult, so it would be more rational to purchase them in a sports store. Alternatively, they can be ordered from the factory.

To equip the ladder and rope, you can also purchase ready-made ropes and independently fix them on the crossbar. The rope ladder must be firmly fastened to the rung, and its steps must be tied in a special way so that they do not move and are held securely in the established place.

With the proper approach to business, you get a comfortable, compact and beautiful Swedish wall. It will not be difficult to calculate the dimensions with your own hands and draw up a drawing, as well as build the wall itself. In addition, the parameters can be changed to suit the individual characteristics of the apartment. You can create an additional crossbar for pull-ups. For its arrangement, you can use a handle of a larger diameter or a metal crossbar.

Swedish wall do-it-yourself: photo

Photos of the finished sports corner will help you understand how it is more convenient to equip it in your apartment without spending a lot of effort and money.

The photo below shows a full-fledged sports corner for children of different ages.

Alternatively, a simple, full-wall-wide structure can be created.

Such a variety of options makes it possible to create a combined version in which all the necessary elements will be present.

Swedish wall cost

You can buy such a corner in the store for an amount of about ten thousand rubles. Hand-made production of the Swedish wall will cost several times cheaper. According to preliminary calculations:

Such savings will create an amazingly useful place for children to play, while not causing significant harm to the family budget.

Experienced workers can use metal reinforcement as the basis for the structure by welding its elements. A do-it-yourself metal Swedish wall can also be made if desired, it is also more durable and strong. Due to the characteristics of the material, the design is able to withstand much more weight.

However, having equipped such a corner in your apartment, you should carefully study the strength of the walls so as not to cause significant damage that can lead to a danger to health and life.

So: it was on frosty winter days, sitting with a friend in a spacious garage-workshop, warming himself by a home-made stove and remembering the damned summer heat, that a friend and I started talking about the fact that it would be nice to buy a small sports corner for the younger generation in an apartment .

Having climbed in these your Internets, we concluded that it is quite wasteful to give hard-earned 200 American money for an outright pipe-painted hack. It was decided to do something simple, but with his own hands, and as they say - with the soul.

As the deductive method showed, it’s easier to make a Swedish wall: little material is required, it takes up very little space, the kids monkey with great pleasure on it, it’s perfect for “pulling up and rocking the press a couple of times a day,” and most importantly (as tests have shown) on it is very convenient to hang clothes.

Lumber was bought at a local store, namely: a 50mm by 120mm six-meter pine board, beech shovel handles for the crossbars, and a few consumables: sandpaper, a couple of screws and the like.

Here we brought all the necessary good to the workshop - you can start. What do I have in my apartment, what does a friend have a ceiling height of 2.5 meters: it was decided to make racks of 2.38 m - this is so that the ladder attached to the wall does not rest against the baguette in any case, but at the bottom so that between the lower end and the floor there was about a 6-centimeter gap, so the garbage in this place will not accumulate, and with the carpet if you don’t have to be smart.

The boards sawn to size were driven through an electric jointer and polished with a belt grinder (unfortunately, this stage was not included in the photo session - my hands were busy, but I think everything is clear anyway). Further, with the help of a manual milling cutter, a chamfer was removed from all the edges of the future racks - the rounded corner will live longer during operation and it’s just beautiful.

After a series of tests, the results showed that the optimal distance between the rungs of the Swedish wall is 300 mm, which means that 8 rungs are required per ladder.
Using a core drill with a diameter of 35 mm, according to the markings, we make seats for the crossbars, it is important to keep the same drilling depth so that there would be no akhtung during assembly.

As I said, the crown was 35 mm in diameter (well, there was no other), and the cuttings, that is, the crossbar, were 40 mm. I had to cheat a little and sharpen the ends of the crossbars with a knife so that dad would enter mom, but it turned out very dignified and neat (I would even say it turned out well, because many cuttings had not a round but slightly oval cross section and when they were planted in a nest with a diameter of 40 mm in some ugly gaps could appear in places).

It seemed to us that a ladder 100 cm wide would be just right: subtract the thickness of the racks and add the depth of the crossbar (all in millimeters): 1000-(50+50)+(20+20)= 940. So 94 centimeters is the length of the crossbars.

We cut the crossbars on the angle cutter and remove the extra millimeters from the ends with a knife to fit into the rack socket. Sandpaper with a grain of 180 pre-grind the crossbars.

Next, we make through holes in the racks for attaching crossbars to them: the core drill has a guide spike in the center, which leaves a recess slightly larger than the total depth of the drilled nest, since the recess is located strictly in the center of the nest, it is through it that we drill the racks through, To do this, use a drill for wood with a diameter of 5 mm.

After the drilling procedure, we carefully process all the visible parts of the racks of the future wall with a fine sandpaper with a grain size of 240, we especially painstakingly grind the crossbars - the slightest burr on them can become a potential splinter in the palm of your hand.

We begin to assemble the structure: we glue the landing nests on one rack with glue (to prevent the crossbar from turning when a particularly strong primate interacts with it), insert the crossbars into them, then drill the crossbars through the rack with a long 4-mm drill and, naturally, twist long screws into the finished holes.

With the second side, it’s a little more complicated: just like in the first case, we coat the seating nests on the second rack with glue, and placing the first rack with the crossbars already fixed on the table (the side where the screw heads are visible), we put the second rack on top and combine the seating nests with the corresponding the ends of the crossbars.

In principle, the two of us did it in about twenty minutes, the three of us would have been easier, and all because the crossbars hardly entered the rack and, frankly, at some point I had to use a sledgehammer. Having driven the ends of the crossbars into the second rack, we drill them from this side and tighten the screws.

Now it's time to bring beauty: we cover our ladder with zip guard golden oak wood impregnation and varnish it in a day. After drying, the finished wall is taken home and installed.
For installation, we use ten-centimeter pieces of stainless strip 25 mm wide and 4 mm thick. We make three holes in the segments: through the central one we fasten them to the back side of the racks, and through the extreme ones we fix the entire structure to the wall with the help of anchors. Six such fasteners seemed to us enough.

Well, the Swedish wall is in its place and the kids are already climbing to the top with pleasure, and according to the plan, we have the manufacture of metal crossbars on which the rope and rings will be attached.

In the basement of the garage, there were suitable smooth and most importantly not rusty pipes with a diameter of 3/4 inches. The pipes were cleaned and polished, and "lugs" were welded to their ends, one eye transversely to the end of the pipe, and the other in the longitudinal plane, but not to the end but to the surface of the circle.

The ears are drilled holes for fasteners. One end of the crossbar is fastened through the eyelet to the wall bars with a powerful hex head screw.

The opposite side is attached with an anchor to a concrete crossbar running along the ceiling of the corridor, while fixing it in this place, there were slight difficulties: the wiring detector showed the presence of it just in the place where it was supposed to drill a hole for the anchor: I had to make a hole in the eye of the crossbar a little higher and bypass the wire.

Despite the unexpected obstacles, everything turned out great and the metal crossbars were securely fixed, and the rope and rings took their places on them, and now the little one is running wild in this sports corner to the fullest.

For those who are interested, I voice bevent budget:

  • Six-meter board 120 by 50 - 100 hryvnia
  • Beech shank 8 pieces 11 hryvnia each - 88 hryvnia
  • Various fasteners – 30 hryvnia
  • Consumables — 30 hryvnia
  • Old pipes - free of charge
  • Rope and rings - 150 hryvnia
  • Experience is priceless
  • Or about 1600 rubles

At one time, Swedish scientists developed wooden gymnastic ladders to perform a set of special exercises. Thanks to their developers, even today they are called wooden Swedish walls.

Children's sports corner

All over the world, the Swedish wall is a symbol of sport, a healthy lifestyle and good physical fitness. It is considered the most versatile and functional simulator. It is successfully used not only in gyms, but also in the apartment. To improve the health of the child, regular physical education requires a small sports area. The kit may include a rope or a rope ladder, horizontal bars, a trapezoid. The kit can be replenished as needed. Despite the fact that the choice of sports equipment is huge, wooden is an invariable element of the sports corner and is in almost every home. She doesn't take up much space. The device is simple and can be made by hand.

Material selection

Wooden Swedish walls are widely represented on sale. But it's best to do the work yourself. In this case, the shape, size and design can be correlated with the area of \u200b\u200bthe room and financial capabilities. Drawings are not required for work. After all, the Swedish wall is essentially a staircase.

Coniferous wood, ash, beech - this is the main material from which a children's wall bar can be made. The wooden surface is pleasant to the touch, has a fancy wood pattern, and is an environmentally friendly material. For work, you will need two bars for vertical racks (150x3000 mm, section 50 mm). As the crossbars, you can use the handle from a shovel. Their number depends on the height of the room and, accordingly, the stairs. They are sold in hardware or building stores. You will need two pieces of 22mm plywood to build the top rail holder. All lumber must be dry, smooth, even and free of knots. You need furniture bolts or ties, confirmations and glue.

Preparation of individual elements

The classic configuration of the Swedish wall is L-shaped. To make it, you will need a jigsaw, a drill, or a cutter for holes, emery cloth, a drill and a key for confirmations, a screwdriver or a screwdriver.

The first stage is the preparation of racks. Non-through holes are drilled on the bars every 200-230 mm with a depth of about 20 mm. It is better to drill holes not in the middle, but closer to the outer edge, so that when used, the foot fits on the step and does not rest against the wall. At this stage, you can screw the corners for fastening to the wall with screws. The surface of the bars is cleaned with an emery cloth. Then two blanks are cut out of plywood for attaching the upper crossbar. In shape, they are somewhat reminiscent of the letter "G". Therefore, a wooden Swedish wall with a horizontal bar has an L-shaped configuration. Cuttings from shovels are cut into parts 500-600 mm long. These are future crossbars. All structural details are carefully sanded, to reduce labor costs, you can use a grinder. To give a certain color, the parts can be treated with a stain.

Assembly of the complex

When all the details are ready and processed with sandpaper, even and smooth, without roughness, you can assemble the structure together. In one of the racks, which is in a horizontal position, crossbars are inserted into the prepared holes, pre-coated with glue (this can be either PVA or "Moment"). Parts must fit snugly into the holes. A second rack is put on top of them. It is important to correctly calculate, mark and drill the holes so that they are easy to combine and assemble the ladder. Each crossbar is drilled into the end through the rack and fastened with a confirmation. The operation is performed on both sides. "Ears" are attached to the upper part of the stairs with the help of screeds for the horizontal bar device (removal of about 600 mm). It is necessary to make at least four fasteners on each side for reliability. Wooden Swedish walls are coated with water-based varnish in several layers. And the last moment: the heads of the confirmations of the finished design are closed with decorative plugs.

Installation and fastening

L-shaped sports corners are most convenient in small apartments. They take up little space, and are attached to the wall of the room. After the structure dries well, it can be installed in the chosen place.

There must be free space around the wall to perform various exercises. There can be no ceiling suspended structures nearby. The sports corner should not be surrounded by plasterboard walls; the system cannot be mounted on them.

To firmly fix the structure on the wall, you need to attach three metal corners to each rack at different heights. At the right level, holes are drilled in the wall. Then anchor bolts are hammered into them through holes in the corners. And here is a wooden Swedish wall made with your own hands. Before allowing a child to practice on it, an adult should test the strength of the structure.

Features and safety

If desired, the sports corner can be upgraded. In addition, hang a rope, rings or a rope ladder. Wooden Swedish walls have one drawback: the maximum permissible load on the side racks is 120 kg, and for the crossbars - 80 kg. For classes, you must purchase a gymnastic mat that will protect the child in case of a fall. Near the complex should not be furniture with hard edges and corners. Periodically, the reliability of fastenings and the integrity of individual elements should be checked. When operating, do not exceed the recommended load weight (simultaneous occupation of several children is prohibited).

The Swedish wall is a universal simulator for practicing at home. Children of all ages and adults can participate. Exercises will help the child strengthen muscles, prevent postural disorders and scoliosis, develop perseverance, perseverance, determination and courage. Or maybe they will help educate the future athlete and champion.

All photos from the article

A simple wooden Swedish wall with a horizontal bar is an indispensable purchase for a summer residence, a country house or an apartment. Such a simple structure will serve as an excellent attraction for growing children. However, in addition to entertainment, wooden Swedish walls for children allow you to properly form the muscles of children's and teenage organisms.

The benefits of the Swedish walls are obvious, and therefore in this article we will consider what is the instruction for assembling this structure with our own hands using a simple tool available.

The benefits of Swedish walls

There is a wide range of sports equipment for home use on the market today. But, it is the children's wooden Swedish wall that is good for its small dimensions and good location, which allows you to save free space in the room.

In addition to the convenience of location, this sports equipment is distinguished by its versatility. On the wall, you can strengthen your arms by pulling up on the horizontal bar, you can strengthen the press by raising your legs at right angles relative to the body, etc.

Selection of materials

A wooden Swedish wall for children in an apartment can be assembled not according to special drawings, but according to their own sketches. The stability and strength of the structure is determined by the selection of materials.

For the manufacture of the planned structure, we need the following materials:

  • 1 sheet of five-layer plywood with a thickness of 2.2 cm;
  • 2 pine boards for sidewalls (230x12x3.5 cm);
  • 12 cuttings from shovels with a diameter of 4 cm;
  • fixing materials;
  • wood stain and carpentry varnish;
  • epoxy adhesive;
  • screwdriver;
  • wood saw or electric jigsaw;
  • electric drill + wood crown with a diameter of 4 cm.

Important: It would be better to dry the purchased plywood and boards for several days so that they are not warped after assembly.

The idea with shovels is justified, despite the fact that the price of such an acquisition is high. If you order the manufacture of handrails on a special lathe from scratch, the cost of the project will increase significantly.

So, plywood and boards have dried out, it's time to start installation.

Cutting materials and assembly

If you wish, you can apply the drawings of the Swedish wall proposed in the article with your own hands made of wood, but we simplified the proposed scheme a little, and this is what came of it.

  • From a plywood sheet we cut out two square pieces with dimensions of 72 by 72 cm.

Important: Try to cut the plywood more carefully so that the factory glue does not crumble along the cut line.

  • From the resulting pieces we cut out the holders as shown in the photo. The size of the holders is chosen so that the overhang of the horizontal bar relative to the sidewalls of the wall is 60 cm.
  • We grind the prepared holders and make a small end chamfer.

A healthy lifestyle is always in fashion. Maintaining it today is quite simple, given the huge number of gyms, among which you can find one that will be closer to home. However, it is not always possible and time to visit them.

A great alternative to a public gym and the ability to maintain physical health without leaving home is wall bars in an apartment, which you can do yourself. When making and using a home horizontal bar, you can easily maintain your physical shape, as well as develop your child's endurance under home supervision.

Types of designs of Swedish walls

In a broad sense, the Swedish wall is a sports complex for home training for an adult and a child. This sports complex can have several varieties:

Swedish wall do it yourself

To make a Swedish wall with your own hands, you can use wood or metal. Each of these materials has its own disadvantages and advantages. The Swedish wall wooden will organically fit into any interior, it is an easy, eco-friendly design.

Ladder made of metal more durable, capable of withstanding the heavy weight of an adult, not to mention a child. But making a Swedish wall with your own hands from metal is quite complicated, and requires minimal welding skills.

The production of any Swedish wall begins from the drawing. It will help to visualize the parameters of the stairs, horizontal bar and bars in accordance with the actual dimensions of the room in order to fit the Swedish wall into it.

Necessary correctly calculate the distance between the uprights of the stairs to measure the desired length of the rungs, and without a drawing it is impossible to do this. In addition, the drawing will help determine the type of fastener, adjust the required dimensions, and reflect the correct connection of the wall and the crossbar.

The dimensions of the Swedish ladder must be such that the rungs do not touch the floor and ceiling. In addition, the dimensions of the stairs in height for the children's Swedish wall and the adult, will differ: in the first case, the maximum height should be 2000-2100 mm, in the second case it can reach over 2300 mm, depending on the height of the ceiling. The recommended width of the beams is 55 cm, and the crossbars are 110 cm.

How to assemble a wooden wall bar

A standard Swedish wooden wall for an adult consists of a ladder and a removable horizontal bar. For the manufacture of stairs you will need the following materials:

The manufacturing process of the stairs is as follows:

  1. A wooden beam is sawn into two identical parts, the ends are rounded with a jigsaw.
  2. Lumber is polished with a planer, grinder.
  3. On the boards, on the one hand, a distance between the crossbars is marked, equal to 30 cm. In the same places, holes for fastening the crossbars are made with a thin drill.
  4. In accordance with the drawing, the required length of the crossbar is determined, usually it is 60–80 cm.
  5. From the cuttings for shovels, the length determined for the crossbars is cut off.
  6. The bars and crossbars are covered with stain, paint or varnish, left to dry completely.
  • where markings were applied to wooden bars, blind holes must be made;
  • glue is applied to the ends of the crossbars, after which they are inserted into the holes;
  • steps and racks are additionally fixed with screws or self-tapping screws.

Remains attach the ladder to the wall with dowels and metal corners. A removable horizontal bar that will be attached to one of the upper rungs of the stairs can also be made of wood, but it is preferable to use metal for this purpose.

Swedish wall made of metal

As a rule, the Swedish wall made of metal is installed on the street. This sports complex may include:

This equipment is individual, and may also consist simply from stairs and horizontal bar. Before you assemble the Swedish wall of metal, you need to prepare the following material:

  • Profile pipe 25 × 25 mm with a total length of six meters in the amount of two pieces.
  • Pipe segments with a quantity equal to the number of steps, 50–60 mm long.
  • Sections from a profile pipe, which will serve as a reinforcement for the horizontal bar.
  • Metal corners for wall mounting. Fastening a metal ladder can be done not only to the wall. Pipe supports can be attached to the ceiling and floor with round washers. However, this method is not suitable for every room.

Racks are cut about 2.5 meters long, the remaining segments are welded to them at a right angle as remote parts. The crossbars are connected to the supporting parts by welding or inserted into pre-cut holes with a step of 30 cm along the length of both pipes. To prevent the crossbars from spinning inside the holes, their ends are rounded and inserted into the holes until they stop.

So that while hanging on the horizontal bar, the outriggers do not sag under the weight of the weight, they are strengthened by welding additional sections of the pipe, forming a triangle between the rack and the upper part of the remote pipe. After the fabrication of the structure primed and painted for metal.

Swedish wall for children

At the planning stage of making a Swedish wall for children with your own hands, the following nuances must be taken into account:

Assembling a sports ladder is practically no different from assembling an adult horizontal bar. For the manufacture of hanging rope, rope ladder you can use cord- its acquisition will cost much less than buying a conventional rope.

Can be used as rings bent metal bar to which the oxygen hose is attached. The ends of the rod are welded to form rings.

When installing a sports corner in an apartment, the following recommendations should be taken into account:

This is the main part of the recommendations during the assembly and operation of the Swedish wall, the rest of the measures must be taken individually depending on functionality, the size of the corner and who uses it - an adult or a child.
