Water supply from polypropylene pipes in the country. Which pipes are best for plumbing in the country Water pipes for giving how to choose

You can't do without plumbing in the country. Summer water supply is the most common type of water supply for summer cottages. Thanks to the summer water supply system, full-fledged watering of plants is ensured, time is saved, and work is facilitated. Using pipes made of new materials instead of traditional metal pipes makes plumbing much faster, easier and cheaper.

The summer version of the water supply is quite suitable for seasonal living in the country. It is used both for irrigation and for household appliances, for supplying water to a shower, bath, pool, and brings comfort to country life. In winter, its use is undesirable or even impossible. Summer water supply is simpler and cheaper than year-round, but less durable.

What water sources are used for summer plumbing

The primary task in arranging a summer water supply is the choice of a water source.

Types of water sources for summer water supply:

  1. Central Highway.
  2. Well.
  3. Well.
  4. Natural reservoir.
  5. Rain water tank.

Central water supply

Perfect option. To connect to a steel main pipe directly under pressure, use an overhead tee (saddle). It is mounted on the entry point and secured with bolts. After that, a ball valve on a fumnit is mounted in it. A hole is drilled through the tap with a drill in the central pipe and the tap is immediately closed.

natural reservoirs

Reservoirs - river, lake, pond. The disadvantage of using open reservoirs for country water supply is the need to purify water from impurities.

wells

There are two types of wells designed for water intake - artesian and sandy.

A sand well will require filtration equipment due to the high content of sand and clay. The average water supply rate is about two cubic meters per hour, which is quite enough for summer cottages and small country houses.

Water in an artesian well rises to the surface under pressure. The resulting amount of water is 10 cubic meters per hour. An additional advantage of an artesian well is cleaner water due to deep drilling. Such wells are durable: on average, the service life is 50 years.

Well

The depth of the well depends on the level of groundwater and usually does not exceed 15 m. The disadvantages of the well include the content of many harmful impurities and a small supply of water - about 200 liters per hour.

Rain water tank

As reservoirs for collecting melt and rainwater, pools or artificial ponds, plastic and metal containers are used: tanks, barrels, vats. Drainage pipes are laid to them or drain roofing pipes are brought to them. Water from containers for the winter can not be drained, and so that the walls of the tank do not freeze, several plastic bottles are placed half-filled with water or sand.

What are the summer water supply schemes

After the source of water is determined, you should decide which type of water supply to choose: year-round or only summer.

Summer water supply in a personal plot, dacha, garden is used for watering plants, filling an artificial reservoir, supplying water to a shower, bath, summer kitchen and other household needs. In winter, such a water supply system is not used.

Summer water supply is collapsible and permanent.

Summer collapsible plumbing

In the case of choosing a collapsible water supply, pipes or hoses simply lie on the ground or are raised above it. Such a water supply system is easy to assemble from ordinary silicone or rubber hoses by connecting them together with plastic or steel adapters.

There are special clamps on sale, which have a ribbed cone for the hose on one side, and a convenient elastic connector on the other, which allows you to connect and disconnect hoses in one motion. Such latches create a strong joint.

The advantages of summer collapsible water supply include:

  1. Quick assembly and disassembly.
  2. Quick search for a damaged pipe and repair of a hole.
  3. The cost of a collapsible water supply is lower than a stationary one.

Disadvantages of summer collapsible water supply:

  1. Pipes interfere with movement.
  2. High chance of theft.
  3. The need for assembly and disassembly at the beginning and end of the watering season.

Stationary summer water supply

Permanent water supply is laid underground. For these purposes, you can use thick-walled rubber hoses or plastic pipes. Plastic plumbing at their summer cottage is laid at an angle to the drain valve near the source of water supply. Before the onset of cold weather, the remaining water from the pipeline is completely pumped out to prevent freezing and damage to the pipes.

For a permanent summer water supply scheme, pipes are placed in the ground at a shallow depth, and water taps are brought to the surface.

Advantages of a stationary country water supply:

  1. The pipes are located underground and do not interfere with walking, transporting goods on a trolley.
  2. Installation of summer water supply is carried out once.
  3. The underground location of the pipes serves as protection against theft.
  4. Simple winterization of the system, just open the drain valve and release all the water.

The disadvantages of a stationary summer water supply are:

  1. Larger material costs than in the construction of a collapsible water supply.
  2. Time-consuming installation of water supply due to the need to dig trenches and lay pipes under a slope.
  3. Difficulties with finding and repairing a hole in the pipe.

How to plan a summer plumbing

Before purchasing pipes and proceeding with their assembly, it is necessary to think over a plan and draw up a preliminary drawing, specify all dimensions in detail. You should decide in advance: where to supply water, where the water intake points will be located, how many connections will be needed.

After that, with the help of pegs and twine, they lay out the future water route on the land plot, measure and calculate the required pipe footage, the number of corners, tees, taps and other consumables. In any case, a small supply of components will not hurt. A good plan is the key to success, saving effort, time and money.

The project should indicate the existing and planned underground communications, paths, buildings, plantings, especially if a permanent summer water supply scheme is being installed. When installing a stationary summer water supply, trenches are prepared for laying pipes. The depth of laying pipes is usually 30-40 cm.

However, if the pipes lie under the beds, and there is a possibility of damaging them with a shovel or cultivator, then the trench depth is increased to 50-70 cm. This is a laborious process, but replacing broken pipes and eliminating leaks is even more difficult. Pipes come to the surface of the earth only in places of water supply.

When planning a permanent water supply, it is important to remember that all pipes in the trench are laid at a slope towards the connection to the water intake. A drain valve is installed at the lowest part of the pipeline. This will drain the water for the winter and avoid damage to the pipes. It is necessary to determine in advance the places for supplying water.

The number of points of consumption depends on the location of the beds, greenhouses, summer showers, baths, pools. In order not to transfer the hose from place to place, it is more reasonable to bring pipes out at 5-10 points. Hose sections 3-5 m long are connected to such hydrants, which ensures watering of each individual zone. At all points of consumption, a bayonet is mounted for quick connection of a hose or an automatic spray system.

Before cutting off hoses or sawing pipes, you should carefully measure the required length with a tape measure, put marks with a marker, and only then proceed with cutting. This approach, according to the principle of measure seven times - cut once, will save you from annoying mistakes and additional costs.

What materials, devices and tools are required for arranging a summer water supply

For the installation of a summer water supply in a summer cottage, the following materials and tools will be required:

  1. Pipes and hoses.
  2. Fittings and tees.
  3. Compression couplings with external thread (20; 1/2).
  4. Adjustable wrench, gas wrench, wrenches No. 17-24.
  5. A special cutter for plastic water pipes or a hacksaw for metal.
  6. Shovel.
  7. Soldering iron. If you plan to connect pipes by welding, instead of fittings and a gas wrench, use a special electric soldering iron. Soldering irons are inexpensive, and some hardware stores even rent them out.
  8. Ball valve 1/2.
  9. Corner compression 20 mm.
  10. Tee compression 20 mm.
  11. Saddle 63 (1/2).
  12. Fumnitka.
  13. Adjustable wrench, gas wrench and wrenches No. 17-24.
  14. sanding paper.
  15. Knife, tape measure, pencil.

Pipes

Pipes for assembling a summer water supply system on an average summer cottage with an area of 10 acres are preferably plastic or polyethylene (diameter 20-25 mm, length 100 m). Reliable uninterrupted water supply largely depends on the quality of the pipes. Green polypropylene pipes from Banninger with a diameter of 25 mm have proven themselves well. They are more expensive than traditional white pipes, but they are resistant to temperature changes and can even withstand frost.

Hoses

Hoses can be used instead of pipes.

Rubber hoses with thick walls reinforced with nylon fibers are stronger and more durable, they will reliably serve for 15 years.

Fittings and tees

The wiring of summer water pipes is carried out using tees, and special fittings are best suited for connecting plastic pipes. The use of fittings allows you to assemble a country water supply in just one day. In this case, the joint is sealed, and if necessary, the structure can be easily disassembled.

Scheme of a collapsible summer water supply from hoses

The simplest design is summer water supply from flexible hoses. The collapsible hose system is quite simple. With the onset of heat, the hoses are connected to the pump and laid on the surface of the earth so that they do not interfere with free movement around the summer cottage.

Hoses are rubber and silicone. To connect them, they use purchased or home-made devices: steel and plastic adapters, jumpers, pieces of pipes or special latches that allow you to quickly disconnect or connect two sections of the water supply. On the one hand they have a spring connector, and on the other - "ruff". This brace provides a strong and reliable connection.

Now they produce non-twisting hoses with special reinforcement. There are corrugated hoses that can stretch to a considerable length and are very compact when compressed.

Hoses and accessories for drip irrigation appeared on sale.

Basically, water supply from hoses is used for watering in the country. In autumn, the hoses and the pump are folded and put away into the room.

Summer plumbing assembly procedure

Determine where to place the leads: entrance to the greenhouse, parking lot, outdoor shower, washbasin, pool, flower garden, etc. The hose is more convenient to attach and remove at an intersection or on a wide path.

Measure the distance and calculate the required pipe length. For the arrangement of summer water supply, plastic or polyethylene pipes are best suited. It is convenient to connect them with flexible hoses. This design of the water supply, if necessary, is easy to redo. You can connect pipes with special plastic fittings or by soldering. In addition, to assemble a summer water supply, you will need tees, taps, corners.

It is advisable to dig pipes in order to preserve and increase their service life.

Check the pressure in the pipeline. If from a fully open tap water flows under good pressure, then pipes of small cross section - 20 mm are enough. At low pressure (less than 2 bar) do not install more than three output points, as they will not be able to work simultaneously. At low pressure, it is recommended to take a larger pipe - with a section of 25 mm. Larger pipes are also used in large areas with a length of more than 30 m.

As a rule, at the junction of the central line and the pipeline of the site, an inlet valve or valve with a diameter of 1/2 (marking 15) with an internal thread is installed.

The HDPE pipe is attached to the inlet valve with a coupling. If the tap is with an internal thread, then, accordingly, the coupling is with an external one, and vice versa.

A tee is placed at the fork in the pipe, from the tee - a piece of pipe, on which a hose is put on through a tap with an adapter. For a pipeline with a diameter of 20 mm, the kit is suitable:

  • coupling with external thread 20 mm to 3/4,
  • 3/4 tap with external or internal thread,
  • adapter for 3/4 hoses with female thread.

For pipes with a cross section of 25 mm, the following accessories are used:

  1. A crane from the same HDPE 25 to 3/4.
  2. Adapter for hoses with external thread 3/4.

You will also need:

  1. Coupling for inlet valve.
  2. Tees.
  3. Kits for fixing hoses at outlet points.
  4. Pipes.
  5. Fum-tape for sealing threaded connections.
  6. Elbows for installation at pipe bends.

First of all, all threaded connections are assembled.

The main task when assembling threaded connections is to prevent leakage. In a threaded connection, on one side there is an external thread, on the other - an internal thread. A fum-tape is wound tightly and without folds along the external thread in 6-8 layers clockwise (the thread is turned up). Then the parts are screwed in, tightly pressing one to the other, trying not to warp. Then lightly tighten with a gas wrench.

For fixing in the coupling, the pipe is evenly cut with a knife or a fine-toothed hacksaw to get a smooth edge. Slightly loosen the clamping nut. Insert the pipe tightly. In this case, the pipe at a depth of approximately 5 cm first abuts against the rubber sealing ring inside the coupling. It is necessary to push the pipe another 2 cm further so that the pipe passes through the ring until it stops. Then tighten the clamping nut by hand.

The hose can be connected to the water supply using quick couplings. Couplings come in various modifications, the main thing is that they match the diameter of the hose. All kinds of watering guns, sprayers are sold complete with couplings.

Very handy couplers with aquastop, which shuts off the water when disconnecting or replacing watering or gun, eliminating the need to turn off the faucet.

Summer water supply can be equipped with a timer, and then watering will be carried out according to the schedule, even in the absence of the owners.

Plumbing for year-round use

Most often, water from a well is supplied using a submersible pump. Pump power is selected depending on the depth of the well. For a depth of 10 m, "aquarius" or "brook" is suitable. To draw water from a well, you will need a much more powerful pump.

When installing a year-round water supply in the country, the pump is connected to a voltage source, and the cable and water supply are laid together in a single casing assembled from plastic sewer pipes. The casing serves to protect the water supply from mechanical damage and freezing.

The depth of the trench for laying the water supply should be below the freezing level of the soil. Digging such a trench is a laborious task. You can make the task easier by digging a trench to a depth of 60 cm, and pour a layer of insulation 20-30 cm thick on top of the pipe. Sufficiently strong materials with low moisture absorption are used as insulation: foam chips, polyethylene, furnace slag, expanded clay .

A pit 70x70 cm and a depth of 1 m is dug near the well. The pit serves to connect the pump to the water supply, and, if necessary, quickly disconnect and remove the pump. The walls of the pit are lined with bricks or reinforced with antiseptic impregnated boards. The bottom is poured with concrete mortar or covered with rubble and compacted. A water pipe with a “ruff” for a hose connected to the pump, as well as an electric cable, is brought out and fixed into the pit.

To prevent the water in the pump hose from freezing, the pit is insulated. A small drain hole with a diameter of about 1 mm is made in the lower part of the water supply system, thanks to which the water in the water supply system slowly flows into the pit and does not freeze in winter.

The disadvantage of this scheme is the constant humidity in the pit and a slight loss of water.

To safely turn the pump on and off, install a waterproof socket or use a sealed contact connector.

In the conditions of the street, ordinary cranes with crane boxes are most often installed, and even better, bronze or cast-iron valves. It is undesirable to use ball valves; under the influence of precipitation and temperature fluctuations, they quickly fail.

The most complex unit of the year-round water supply is the fountain unit located in an unheated room. Most often, special devices are used for such purposes - water columns. A significant disadvantage of the column is the high cost of equipment and the complexity of installation.

How to install an autonomous water supply

If there is a central highway, then installing a summer water supply on your site is not difficult. Autonomous water supply is a more difficult task.

Ideally, an autonomous water supply scheme is drawn up in parallel with the design of a house and a plot: they determine the location of pipes and mechanisms, carry out a phased plan, calculate an estimate, and purchase equipment. For a boiler and water meter unit, a small room of 2-3 m² is usually allocated on the ground floor. It is convenient to monitor and regulate the water supply process if the technical unit and the water inlet unit are installed in the same room.

The autonomous water supply system includes the following equipment:

  1. Pipes (metal, metal-plastic, polypropylene).
  2. Fittings and taps.
  3. Water-lifting equipment (pumping station, submersible pump).
  4. Pressure control devices in the plumbing system (pressure gauge, pressure switch, accumulator or expansion tank).
  5. Electrical equipment with automatic protection.
  6. Filters for water purification from harmful impurities and suspended particles.
  7. Water heater (preferably storage).

Installation of pumping equipment

A pre-prepared well, a capturing spring chamber, a well are used as a source of water. Each source has advantages and disadvantages. For example, in a well, the water is cleaner, but drilling is expensive. It is much cheaper to dig a well and install a submersible pump with a three-stage water filter.

There are the following types of pumping equipment for drawing water from a source:

  1. Submersible pump.
  2. Surface pump.
  3. Automatic pumping station.

Submersible pump

It is used at a water level of 20 m, it works silently. Pump models with a non-return valve additionally require a hydraulic accumulator, a filtration unit, an automatic unit and a dilution unit with fittings. For contaminated water sources, it is recommended to choose a pump with a stainless metal impeller.

Surface pump

They are used at a water level of less than 8 m. Installed indoors, connected to a well with a supply pipe.

Automatic pumping station

The electric motor and the hydraulic part are separated by a partition. A generator, diesel or gasoline, is used to pump out groundwater and irrigate the site. The station includes: a pump, a hydraulic accumulator and an automation unit. The hydraulic accumulator serves as a reserve tank and limits the frequent activation of the pump. Inexpensive stations are noisy, so it is better to install new generation pumping equipment.

Installation of a stationary summer water supply

For a permanent structure, plastic or polyethylene HDPE pipes are used, which are connected with flexible hoses.

Such a connection allows you to easily and quickly redesign and improve the entire pipeline system. Another installation method is welding with an electric soldering iron or connecting with special plastic fittings. Pipes are laid in shallow grooves (30-35 cm) and fall asleep.

Only cranes are brought to the surface of the earth. Advantages: no obstruction when walking, mowing the lawn and using the trolley, more aesthetic appearance. If desired, pipes or hoses are easy to dig out and disassemble. The disadvantage of underground construction is that there is a possibility of accidental damage to the system during excavation.

To make it easy to drain water from the pipeline in autumn, create a slight slope for draining. A valve is installed in the lowest part of the water supply system: through which it is drained so that frozen water does not break pipes and hoses in winter.

It is especially important to ensure the safety of the electrical network. For this purpose, sealed connectors and waterproof sockets are used.

Plumbing of any type, summer collapsible or permanent, should be done in such a way that it is easy to eliminate unforeseen breakdowns without resorting to the complete dismantling of the plumbing.

How to assemble a summer water supply from plastic pipes

When arranging a summer water supply in conditions of positive air temperature and using only cold water, almost all types of polypropylene pipes will do. The service life of PN-10 pipes, designed to supply water with a temperature of 30 ° C and an operating pressure of 11.1 kgf / cm 2, is 50 years; pipes PN-20, designed to transport hot water 60 ° C at an operating pressure of 10.9 kgf / cm 2, will last even longer.

The main part of the summer water supply is best made from 25 mm pipes. Pipes of smaller diameter do not provide structural rigidity. Pipes 2 m long fit easily on the trunk of a car. For the assembly of the water supply, straight and angled couplings are used. It is advisable to install a coarse filter at the entrance to the main line in the form of a separate unit or combined with a ball valve.

Summer water supply from HDPE pipes is the easiest to assemble and maintain. It is easy to assemble without special tools and does not deteriorate in winter (only the taps remain fully open for the winter).

To quickly disconnect the entire water supply from the central line, a coupling with a union nut, the so-called "American", is installed. Such a coupling allows, if necessary, to connect and disconnect both rigid and flexible lines without touching the threaded connections in other parts of the pipeline. You will need several outlets to secure the watering hose and a separate domestic outlet with 1/2 ball valves. Polypropylene pipes are connected to metal elements by means of combined transition fittings, which have a welding socket at one end and a thread at the other.

Pipes of 20 mm are quite suitable for supplying water to the shower room, they are fixed on the wall of the utility block with plastic clips at intervals of 1 m.

Almost all summer water pipes are freely laid directly on the surface of the earth. There is no need for special means of protecting pipes from temperature deformation and stress.

Drainage of water from all lines of the summer water supply is organized as simply and conveniently as possible. It is advisable to install standard tees with plug plugs in the lowest places of the pipeline.

How to prepare plastic pipes for summer plumbing

If the relief of the suburban area is uneven, when laying pipes in some places of the water supply system, excessive stress is created due to a slight bend. To eliminate the increased pressure, it is enough to slightly bend the pipe using a building hair dryer with a special nozzle.

When assembling the system, it is necessary to adjust the polypropylene pipes to the required length. For cutting plastic pipes with a cross section of up to 40 mm, special scissors are used. There are scissors for cutting pipes with a diameter of up to 75mm. But most often for plastic pipes of 50 mm or more, a roller cutter is used.

When working with a cutter, additional processing of the ends of non-reinforced pipes is not required. If the installation volume is small, it is quite possible to cut plastic pipes with a conventional hacksaw, electric jigsaw or grinder.

Preparing trenches for summer plumbing

The next stage in the arrangement of the water supply is the preparation of the trench. Its depth depends on the location of the pipes: 15-20 cm is enough for the lawn, and 40-70 cm for the beds. They start digging from the water source, then lay all the pipes in the trench and securely connect them together. After laying and docking pipes, check the plumbing for leaks. It should not be allowed to bend the water supply in short sections due to the possible stagnation of water. Then proceed to the connection of water-folding devices.

Water intake devices

If the pipeline is designed to supply water to the greenhouse, then cast-iron or bronze valves and taps with axle boxes are installed. Ball valves are not recommended, as they fail quite quickly.

The water assembly is the most complex device in the plumbing. It is equipped in an unheated room or on the street. The standpipe is used less frequently due to complex installation and high cost.

How does a soldering iron for welding plastic pipes

On sale are soldering irons of domestic production of good quality and at a reasonable price, equipped with a convenient metal case, scissors for cutting pipes, a tape measure and gloves. There are also less expensive modifications - without additional equipment and with fewer nozzles.

The welding soldering iron for polypropylene and polyethylene pipes consists of three main parts:

  1. Soldering iron with heating element (plate with heating element) and control unit (switches, temperature relay, indicators).
  2. Replaceable nozzles for heating pipes and fittings. They are bolted to the heating plate through special holes. The nozzles are made of aluminum alloy with anti-adhesion Teflon coating and require careful and careful handling. It is forbidden to clean them with metal brushes and abrasive products in order to avoid damage to the Teflon surface.
  3. Stand for fixing the device during welding.

How to weld polypropylene pipes correctly

Diffusion welding of polypropylene pipes occurs due to partial surface melting of the parts to be joined when heated using a welding machine. The operating temperature for welding polypropylene is 260°C. In order for the welding joint to be strong, the parts to be welded must have the same properties. It is not recommended to weld pipes from different manufacturers.

Fittings and pipes of different brands differ in softening speed, diameter tolerance. The welding process itself is not complicated and takes a little time. It is necessary to strictly adhere to the time intervals allotted according to the instructions for each phase: heating - welding - cooling.

Both parts prepared for welding are simultaneously attached to the nozzles of the welding machine: the fitting is put on the mandrel nozzle, and the pipe is inserted into the coupling nozzle.

It is impossible to rotate and move the pipe and fitting during heating, therefore both parts are tried on relative to each other in advance and marked with colored markers for convenience. The heating time is counted after the completion of putting on the pipe and fitting on the nozzles.

At the end of heating, the parts are removed from the nozzles and connected: the end of the pipe is inserted all the way into the fitting socket. The countdown of the welding time starts from the moment the pipe is connected to the fitting. The connected parts are fixed and held motionless, preventing displacement during the welding time indicated in the instructions.

Do not cool parts with compressed air or cold water.

The final phase is the cooling of parts. During this period of time, until complete cooling and restoration of the mechanical strength of the parts, it is impossible to load the connection.

After the end of the cooling stage, they start welding the following joints or installing the assembled unit in the allotted place. After testing the plumbing system, the pipes are sprinkled with earth or left on the surface.

Leads with taps are installed throughout the site, on which a piece of hose of the required length is attached in one motion. With the help of a variety of sprinklers, you can simultaneously water in several places at once.

Rules for servicing the summer water supply system

Along with the indisputable advantages of summer water supply, ease and speed of assembly, cost-effectiveness, there are some disadvantages - for example, the need to drain water for the winter and observe the slope of the pipes to the connection point. Otherwise, the water will freeze in the pipes and a defect in the part of the water supply will form. To drain the water at the lowest point of the system, a special valve is mounted. It is necessary to choose the correct slope, otherwise the water pressure will be weak.

If the water supply is ground, disassemble the structure with subsequent storage indoors. It is necessary to periodically check the condition of pipes and connecting elements and, if necessary, replace individual parts.

When arranging a permanent summer water supply, pipes and hoses are laid in the ground, with taps and switches brought to the surface. There is no need to dig the structure to a great depth. It is enough just to fill the pipeline with earth to ensure its safety and not create obstacles for walking.

What will be the summer water supply in the country - the simplest scheme from improvised materials or a modern design with automatic control - everyone chooses for himself. In any case, the arrangement of the water supply system at the dacha will fully justify the efforts made and the funds spent. To paraphrase a classic: plumbing is not a luxury, but a means for irrigation. Thanks to the summer pipeline, water is supplied to the farthest corners of the garden, and then you can forget about heavy buckets and watering cans and spend your free time with family and friends.

It makes no sense to explain how important it is for any summer resident or gardener to make a convenient and relatively inexpensive irrigation system on their site. Metal is now expensive, so the vast majority of preference is given to country water supply from plastic pipes.

The cost of manufacturing will turn out to be cheaper than if you use steel pipes of a similar section, and it is quite possible to do the wiring of the water supply system around the site with your own hands, even without the involvement of specialists.

Features of planning a country water supply

Building a plumbing system in a summer cottage is always more difficult than if you were to make a plumbing system for a residential building or garage. The main problem is that formally you need to build three branches:

  • Plumbing with drinking water for a country house;
  • Stationary water supply system for supplying technical water to the house and to irrigation points in the beds;
  • A makeshift or portable system of pipes and hoses for connecting drip and shower irrigation of beds, shrubs and trees.

For each of the systems, you can choose your own version of plastic pipes, the most suitable for the task. In addition, the price of plastic pipes for plumbing in the country is of no small importance. For example, if you try to draw up a water supply scheme for a country house, it will become clear that in this case it will take no more than 20 m of pipes with three consumer points - for the kitchen, shower and toilet.

Such a water supply can be easily assembled with your own hands from polypropylene pipes. The whole idea of arranging a water supply system in a country house will cost a maximum of $ 150-200, subject to connection to a centralized water supply system or to an already built well with a pump and outlet.

If you try to assemble the water supply of the irrigation system according to the same scheme, then the costs only for the purchase and assembly of plastic pipes can increase several times. For example, for a standard suburban area of 6 acres, the total length of the line laid in the ground is at least 100 linear meters, respectively, the price of an irrigation branch of a water supply system made of polypropylene will increase at least 2-3 times. To this scheme, it is worth adding a system of hose sprinklers and drip irrigation, for example, for a greenhouse or beds under a film.

For your information! Properly planned and built plastic plumbing is able to withstand 10-15 years of operation without major repairs and maintenance.

A country irrigation system assembled from rubber hoses and steel pipes lasts about half as much at a higher cost of construction, so there is no real alternative to using plastic.

A typical device for a country plastic water supply system is shown in the diagram. As a rule, water supply to the beds was carried out in the form of several parallel pipelines with a diameter of 20 mm, which were connected in the form of a "comb" to the main pressure line, with a cross section of 40-50 mm.

To ensure the supply of irrigation water, one pressure irrigation and one supply line is sufficient to supply the house and fill the drip irrigation tank.

Features of the selection of plastic pipes for each segment of the water supply

The conclusion suggests itself the simplest, in order to reduce costs, for each section of the country water supply, you need to use your own, most suitable brand of plastic pipes.

Four types of plastic pipes and hoses are currently used for country water supply:

  • Polypropylene;
  • Polyethylene;
  • Silicone;
  • PVC.

PVC pipes have good strength characteristics and satisfactory resistance to the sun and frost, but it is better not to use it for arranging ground water supply. In any case, PVC plastic pipes will require special polyethylene foam wrapping to protect them from accidental scratches and impacts during installation and further use.

For your information! Of the entire range of plastic pipes for country water supply systems, only metal-plastic pipes with an aluminum reinforcing layer are not used.

First of all, the price of metal-plastic pipes is several times higher than polymeric polyethylene pipelines of similar cross-section.

The metal-plastic pipeline perfectly withstands prolonged heating, high water pressure, and is able to serve in a summer cottage for several decades. But on one condition - the country water supply system in winter must be completely emptied of water, and in summer it must be completely filled.

Thin-walled metal-plastic pipes swell when freezing, and the connecting fittings are deformed. In the summer, standing without water leads to intense corrosion of the aluminum sublayer, if you step on it with your foot or run over the wheel of a vehicle, then with a high degree of probability such a country water supply system will be damaged.

Underground water supply from polyethylene pipes

In fact, the use of polyethylene pipes for arranging irrigation water supply in a summer cottage is the most rational solution from both a technological and cost point of view.

Advantages and disadvantages of polyethylene pipes

Firstly, the cost of a running meter of a 25 mm polyethylene water pipe is only 30 cents, for comparison, a meter of a polypropylene pipe will cost at least $ 1.5. Even with polyethylene and polypropylene couplers costing $2.2 and $1.3 respectively, polyethylene piping is significantly less expensive than polypropylene-based plastic lines.

Moreover, polyethylene, as a rule, is sold in the form of coiled sections of 20 and 100 m. Polypropylene pipes are sold in retail trade in finished pieces of 4 m and 6 m, which means that the number of couplings will be required several times more.

Secondly, polyethylene pipes have good resistance to solar ultraviolet radiation, high strength and ductility. Even at low temperatures and water frozen inside the water supply, plastic pipes do not fail.

For plumbing systems, polyethylene pipes of two grades are produced:

  • LDPE - high pressure polymer, used for small sections of water pipes where good flexibility and strength are required;
  • HDPE is a low-pressure polymer used for high-pressure conduits and mains.

For your information! Country water pipelines are built from polyethylene pipes designed to transport drinking water.

They are easily distinguished by a blue or white longitudinal stripe on a black background. Any other brands, for example, with a yellow or orange stripe, are designed to transport gas and liquid products of chemical production, so they are not even suitable for irrigation in a summer cottage. On the surface of the plastic pipe, the purpose, diameter, wall thickness and GOST, on the basis of which the plastic product is made, are necessarily indicated.

In addition to the polyethylene brand and purpose, plastic pipes are distinguished by working pressure:

  • Low pressure or L-class, the working pressure in the line is not more than 2.5 atm;
  • Medium pressure C and SL, designed for pressure from 4 to 8 atm;
  • High pressure T- class, used for water supply systems with a working pressure of more than 10 atm.

The latter are used for equipping wells and wells in a summer cottage, class L and SL are most often used for distributing water supply across the territory, provided that the terrain has a difference of no more than 10 m in height for every 100 m of horizontal length.

Do-it-yourself installation of a country water supply system

The main difference between the country water supply system and the home scheme is that the piping has to be carried out taking into account the following requirements:

  • A large length of water mains on the territory of the summer cottage;
  • For every 5-7 m of the length of the underground water supply, it is necessary to solder the outlet with a tap.

The water supply must be laid in the ground to a depth of at least 40-45 cm with the laying of a protective layer of slate scraps, fragments of flat stone or old asbestos-cement pipes.

For your information! The laying of a plastic pipe allows you to protect the pipe from accidental damage by a shovel, a cutting plowshare of a walk-behind tractor or a tractor.

Most summer residents are well aware of the effect of lifting plastic pipes in the ground. Over time, due to the washing off of the top layer and heaving of the soil, a light plastic pipe is gradually squeezed out to the surface, so laying the protection makes it possible to deal with the deformation of the water supply.

It is clear that water pipes can be laid simply on the surface of the soil, but in suburban areas this installation method is used extremely limitedly for two reasons. Firstly, it interferes with the processing of beds, and secondly, prefabricated structures made of polyethylene pipes are quite easy to damage by catching a tool or hitting a walk-behind tractor wheel.

One of the most important characteristics of plastic plumbing, its strength and rigidity, become the main obstacle when installing an irrigation system. Rigid material can only be bent under a large radius, so for joining and turning it is necessary to use compression couplings.

In fact, a slip coupling or fitting is two parts connected into one body with a thread. To splice two water pipes, it is enough to install the halves on the ends of the pipes, lay the seal and forcefully close the fitting. It is clear that this method of connection is not designed for radial load, therefore, if you step on the plastic coupling with your foot, it is quite possible that the fitting will have to be disassembled and spliced in a new way.

In the same way, you can connect a flexible hose, build a turn of the line at a right angle, or branch into several threads of a smaller diameter.

Relatively simple is the installation of the irrigation outlet. To do this, a clamp with a coupling is installed on the pipe for the installation of a vertical outlet, after tightening the bolt fastening, it is necessary to drill a hole and screw in a tap with a nozzle for the hose.

Folk ways of splicing polyethylene pipes

If a plastic water pipe is laid on the ground surface, and the water pressure exceeds 8 atm, then a more rational solution would be to use horn welding instead of fittings, or connect the pipes with a metal drive. Both methods have been tested in practice and, according to the reviews of the owners of summer cottages, provide a more reliable and high-quality joint of polyethylene pipes.

For your information! The services of a specialist in installing fittings and joining individual water pipes are often more expensive than the plastic pipes themselves.

For welding, you will first need to make a fixture in the form of two metal sockets, with an opening angle of 15-20 o. Before welding, the two ends of the plastic pipes are cut so that a mutual overlap of 40-50 mm is obtained. Usually, special scissors are used to cut polyethylene, but you can do the same job with a regular hacksaw.

The sockets are put on the ends of the pipes. One is inserted with a cone inside the pipe, the second is put on the second end over the end. Both fixtures are slowly heated with a propane torch to melt the polyethylene. After 7-10 min. the sockets are removed, and the ends of the pipes are inserted with force into each other by 40-50 mm. It turns out a strong and tight connection.

No less reliable and durable splicing of 25 mm polyethylene pipes can be done using a conventional metal pipe 150-200 mm long with threads at both ends. The inner diameter of the plastic pipe is 21 mm; it will not work to connect two threads of a polyethylene water pipe using a one and a half inch pipe segment, since its outer diameter is 22 mm.

After cutting the thread, the squeegee can simply be screwed inside the plastic pipe. The sharp edges of the threads cut into the plastic, enter the clutch and securely fix the drive inside the pipeline. To assemble the joint, it is enough to apply rubber adhesive-sealant to the thread, and wrap the second piece of plastic pipe. It is clear that the assembly of plastic pipes on spurs can only be performed sequentially, since one pipe section has to be rotated relative to the other.

End welding for the assembly of plastic water pipelines in summer cottages, as it is designed for the assembly of pipelines with a wall thickness of 5 mm or more.

Polypropylene water pipes for a summer cottage

Plastic pipelines from "food" polypropylene, by most experts, rightly refer to the most technologically advanced and affordable for the construction of water pipes in apartments, the private sector, country houses and cottages. Even the relatively high price of plastic pipes and accessories does not stop those who want to make good quality plumbing with their own hands.

Materials for polypropylene water supply at their summer cottage

The reason for this popularity is a very simple and reliable system for soldering polypropylene; with a little practice, not only long branches of pipelines, but also greenhouses, greenhouses, frames of tents and canopies can be made from a plastic pipe.

In addition to the high price of the material, polypropylene has several significant drawbacks that you should be aware of before planning the construction of a water supply system in a summer cottage:

  • If polypropylene pipes are filled with water, then freezing, as a rule, leads to the appearance of hidden cracks and the destruction of the line;
  • Under the influence of solar ultraviolet in polypropylene, the process of secondary polymerization begins. Over time, the material begins to crumble and lose strength, even if the direct rays of the sun do not fall on the pipeline.

Some brands of polypropylene pipes can be used for street water supply. As a rule, manufacturers paint plastic in black and green colors, polypropylene for indoor installation has a light gray, white or beige color.

For the main supply line of the pipeline, you can use a pipe with a size of 32x3 mm, this will be enough for distributing the water supply and organizing irrigation on 5-6 acres of a summer cottage. Branches and outlets are made with pipes 16x2 mm with the installation of taps.

Shut-off and switching valves must be given special attention. Traditionally, for plastic water pipelines, most suppliers suggest using polypropylene taps with a rubber fungus that blocks the through hole.

Similar designs are commonly used as shut-off valves in domestic plumbing. They are not suitable for country water supply, even with regular maintenance, such valves and taps quickly fail. Their main advantage is ease of installation, they can be soldered into a plastic line, like a conventional coupling.

A more rational solution would be to use conventional bronze valves, their resource is 10-15 years or more. The only inconvenience is that for the installation of such a crane, you will have to additionally purchase two metal-plastic adapters.

Methods for connecting pipes made of polypropylene at their summer cottage

Traditionally, a special soldering iron is used to assemble a water pipe from polypropylene pipes, approximately the same as in the above photo. The quality of the assembly of a plastic water pipe depends on two factors - the availability of skills in performing installation operations and the characteristics of the soldering iron itself. You should not try to assemble a water pipe using home-made devices, it is better to rent high-quality equipment for a couple of days, which can be used to solder water pipes, as they say, for five.

The principle of soldering is quite simple - the coupling and the end of the pipe are heated on the nozzles of the soldering iron, after exposure, the parts are simply connected by hand with little effort.

The method is simple, but in the conditions of a suburban area it is not so easy to apply, since it is not always possible to stretch the electrical network to the place of soldering of the water supply even with the help of a cable reel. Some parts can be soldered in a country house, but still, about 30% of soldering work with plastic pipes will have to be done practically in the beds.

If there is no electricity at the summer cottage, then plastic plumbing can be glued together with specialized glue based on dichloroethane. The glued joint has almost the same strength as the brazed version, but working with dichloroethane requires caution, since the solvent is classified as hazardous to health.

Recommendations for the arrangement of water supply at their summer cottage

The classic device of a country water supply system provides for wiring according to the following scheme. The entrance to the site is made of polyethylene with a diameter of 50-70 mm. The water supply must be insulated and laid in the ground at a depth of maximum soil freezing. An inspection well and a shut-off valve must be installed at the inlet. From the valve, water is directed through a PE pipe to a storage tank, from which part of the flow through a polypropylene pipe goes to a country house. Most of the water flow is redirected from the tank to the underground water supply, and then to the beds.

With this construction of a country water supply, an unlimited number of consumers can be connected to the tank, for example, a greenhouse or a car wash. Moreover, even in the absence of electricity or a malfunction of the pump, watering can be easily organized by gravity, a small height difference of 1-2 m will be enough for normal watering.

Conclusion

It is very important that the underground water supply is connected to the storage tank with a compensation loop or flexible hose. Otherwise, due to heaving of the soil or thermal expansion of the plastic reinforcement, the places of soldering or gluing of the couplings may be deformed or even break off. At the lowest point of the plastic water supply, you will need to make a drain valve, with which, before leaving for the winter season, you can drain the remaining water and preserve the lines.

Installation of HDPE pipes for water supply in the country with the help of fittings is the best option. Polyethylene pipes are inexpensive, but quite strong and durable, and the use of fittings will make the system collapsible.

Requirements for HDPE pipes

HDPE pipes must comply with the Requirements of GOST 18599-2001, which read:

  • The surface of the pipe must be absolutely smooth inside and outside.
  • Existing minor deviations should not exceed the established tolerances.
  • Neither inside nor outside, nor at the end of the pipe there should be foreign inclusions, cracks, shells.
  • The color of the pipes is black or blue, which allows you to quickly distinguish water pipes from others. Sometimes there may be at least three evenly distributed longitudinal blue marking stripes on the black background of the pipe.
  • The pipe is designed for a maximum working pressure of 16-20 atm.

The main indicators for the classification of all polyethylene pipes for plumbing are:

  • Marking - PE 80, PE 100, the first were pipes marked PE 63, but now they are not used.
  • Internal pressure resistance - SDR, determined by the ratio of the outside diameter of the pipe to the wall thickness. The higher this index, the smaller the wall thickness.
  • Diameter.

PE 80 is used for the installation of water pipes with a diameter of up to 90 mm, PE 100 is used for larger highways. When choosing, it is important to correctly decipher the symbol applied to the pipe. For example, the designation PE 100, SDR13, 110 x 8.1 drinking, GOST 18599-2001, stands for:

  • polyethylene pipe with a diameter of 110 mm, wall thickness 8.1 mm;
  • designed for drinking water;
  • manufactured in accordance with GOST 18599-2001;
  • PE 100 low-pressure polyethylene is used for production.

Selection of pipe and fitting diameters

The key parameters in the selection of pipes and fittings for plumbing are the following parameters:

  • Inner diameter. It should be the same for both pipes and fittings. It is directly related to the wall thickness.
  • Pipe length.
  • Conditional pass. It is designated Du with the addition of a value in mm.
  • Wall thickness.

The choice of pipe diameter is influenced by the flow rate. Its nominal value for a standard water supply is 0.02 km / s. There is the following relationship between the length of the water pipe and the diameter of the pipes:

  • With a system length of up to 30 m, the optimum pipe diameter is 25 mm, which provides a throughput of 30 l / min.
  • For the installation of a water supply system with a length of more than 30 m, pipes with a diameter of 32 mm are suitable, increasing the throughput rate to 50 l / min.
  • For a system with a length of less than 10 m, pipes with a diameter of 20 mm are used.

Important: When choosing pipes by diameter, be guided by the expected water flow, given that the capacity of the kitchen and bathroom faucet is no more than 5 l / min. The more points of consumption, the larger the diameter of the pipes.

The following parameters have a decisive influence on the choice of pipe diameter for country water supply:

  • system length;
  • estimated number of joints;
  • number of turns;
  • consumption rate;
  • water pressure.

Keep in mind: with the same diameter of pipes for cold and hot water, the wall thickness of the latter should be 2 times greater.

Do-it-yourself installation

Installation should begin with drawing up a diagram, where to take into account the location of the site in relation to the water intake, determine the number and location of water distribution points. According to the existing sketch, the amount of consumable and reinforcing material is considered.

The number of points of water consumption depends on the location on the site of the bath, shower, beds, pool. A rational solution is to arrange from 5 to 10 pipe outlets, and connect rubber hoses to them so that there is convenient water access to each zone.

Installation of summer collapsible water supply in the country

To install a water supply system in a summer cottage, you will need a standard set of tools and material:

  • HDPE pipes in an amount depending on the wiring diagram. For the main water supply, pipes of a larger diameter are taken, and for wiring to supply points, a smaller one.
  • Various fittings.
  • Cutting tool: cone-shaped butt knife, hacksaw for metal.
  • Connecting elements for joining HDPE pipes with taps, irrigation systems, showers.
  • Trays water plastic, lattices covering.

Work is carried out using the following technology:

  1. Connect the country water supply to the source. Whether it is a common pipe or a column, a special adapter is used for this. The connection is made at an angle.
  2. Carry out wiring throughout the site, by laying pipes with a diameter of 20 or 25 mm to the points of water intake.
  3. Pipe segments are connected using collet fittings, after checking the correct assembly. Before this, the fitting is disassembled, the gasket and clamp are removed. The gasket is firmly inserted into place again, and a clamp with special fixing protrusions is placed behind it. Screw on the clamping nut, but only slightly.
  4. Prepare for installation the ends of polyethylene pipes. First, cut the end with a knife, then insert it into the fitting and tighten the clamping nut.
  5. Connect pipes to faucets, irrigation system, etc.

Attention: all pipe connections are made by hand, if you use a clamping tool, you can overtighten the nut and deform the fitting parts or the end of the pipe.

If seasonal water supply is laid on the surface, then it will become a hindrance to both equipment and people. It is better to make a trench using special plastic trays, and then cover it with gratings included in the kit.

It is quite possible to replace HDPE pipes with a rubber hose reinforced with nylon fibers. This material is also strong and quite durable.

Installation of plumbing in a country house

Installation of water supply in the house is carried out according to a slightly different technology:

  1. Measure the desired length of pipe, mark its edge with a marker.
  2. In place of the mark around the circumference, masking tape is glued so that its edges are exactly aligned.
  3. The pipe is cut as evenly as possible perpendicular to the axis of the pipe, focusing on the edge of the adhesive tape. Remove supporting material.
  4. On the cut end, an even bevel 2-3 mm wide is made using a bevel cutter or a regular file, simply by grinding off the edge at 20 degrees.
  5. Screw the union nut with clamping and retaining rings, put a sealing ring on the edge of the chamfer. They release the edge of the pipe, slightly moving the previously installed parts to the side, lubricate it with plumbing grease.
  6. Insert the free end into the fitting until it stops. Pull closer the union nut with the ring and screw it onto the threaded part of the fitting. The same is done on the opposite side of the fitting. It is important that the pipe rests not on the gasket, but on the shoulder, then the connection will be tight.
  7. Test the pipeline by running water into the system. If there are leaks, tighten the connections.

If all connections are made correctly, then there are no surprises in the form of smudges

will. If HDPE pipes are joined to metal, then it is better to play it safe by winding up the fumlent.

Price for work

The price for installing a water supply system varies depending on the type of pipes, installation technology, and the amount of work. Average prices are summarized in the table:

In the future, polymer pipes will replace their metal counterparts. And which polymer to choose HDPE, LDPE or PVC depends on the purpose of the water supply and power.

The importance of a full-fledged water supply in the country can hardly be overestimated. Without a constant water supply, maintaining the site becomes an extremely time-consuming task, and ordinary dishwashing turns into a real test, not to mention the use of modern household appliances that require a connection to the water supply and.

That is why almost every owner of a summer cottage wants to equip a full-fledged water supply. It is quite possible to cope with the solution of this problem with your own hands. This is, firstly, an invaluable experience, and secondly, a great opportunity to save money by refusing the services of third-party masters.

Features of the device of a private water supply

It is better if the planning of the water supply will be carried out even at the stage of drafting the project of the summer cottage and the house. A full-fledged project includes a number of drawings and documents, including:

For you need to allocate a small room on the ground floor of the house. A room of 3-4 m 2 will be enough. It is more convenient when the water inlet unit and the necessary technical devices are located in the same room - this gives the owner the opportunity to fully control the process of water supply.

A typical private water supply system includes the following equipment:

Choice of source of water supply

In the process of designing a country water supply, you need to choose the optimal source of water. Check out the available options and choose the one that best suits your case.

The most simple and convenient option. It is important that the pressure in the system is sufficient to deliver water to the building. Otherwise, you will need to additionally buy a pump or consider other methods of water supply.

Water will be supplied to the building through a system of pipes and fittings.

In this case, for the installation of a water pipe, you usually do not need to buy any additional devices - you just need to dig a trench, lay the elements of the water pipe and crash into the central highway.

If there is no access to the central highway, consider the following options.

The method is suitable for areas with a depth of an underground aquifer of at least 8-10 m.

A shaft for a well is equipped with the efforts of 2-3 people - alone it is too long and difficult.

The main advantage of the considered option lies in the extreme simplicity of the system - it will be possible to care for and repair it on your own. The maintenance of such a well in a normal state does not require tangible costs.

The main disadvantage is the severely limited water supply. Not every individual well will be able to provide as much water as is necessary to meet all the needs of the family.

Before giving preference to this option, calculate the amount of water you need and establish how much water the well can produce.

The arrangement of a water supply system based on a mine well requires the use of a surface pump. The equipment is relatively inexpensive and easy to maintain.

Prices for a linear range of pumping stations

Pumping stations

Well

If the underground aquifer lies deeper than 8-10 m, a well will have to be drilled. Pleasure is not cheap - drillers charge quite substantial money for their work.

But, having spent money once on arranging a well, you will provide your dacha with clean water in the required volumes. If you want to save money, you can try to negotiate with your neighbors and make one well for several houses.

To equip the water supply system in this case, you will need a special borehole or. Such equipment is much more expensive than its surface counterparts, but in terms of the efficiency of providing clean water, it has no equal.

Summer and winter plumbing

Previously, you most likely heard such definitions as summer and winter plumbing systems. Study the main properties of these options, it is quite possible that even the simplest summer option will be able to satisfy your needs. Otherwise, you can immediately proceed to the study of the following sections of the manual on the arrangement of a full-fledged water supply.

Summer option

The features of such a water supply system are clear from its name - the operation of such a system is possible only in the warm period. There are stationary and collapsible modifications of the system.

The collapsible summer water supply system has a very simple design: it is enough to connect the hoses to a pump of suitable parameters and lay them on the soil surface so that they do not interfere with normal movement around the summer cottage.

Silicone and rubber hoses are suitable for arranging the system. The connection is made using special adapters. Also in specialized stores are available more modern products for connecting hoses - latches. One side of such a latch is equipped with a spring-loaded connector, and on the other side there is a “ruff”. With the help of such latches, hoses are connected quickly, reliably and simply.

Most often, such a collapsible system is used for irrigation. It is pointless to organize on its basis a full-fledged water supply to solve domestic needs.

The laying of a stationary summer water supply is carried out underground. Flexible hoses are not suitable for arranging such a system. The best option is plastic pipes.

Pipes of stationary seasonal water supply are laid at a meter depth. After the end of the season, water must be pumped out of the pipes, otherwise, with the advent of cold weather, it will freeze and ruin the pipeline.

In view of this, the pipes must be laid with a slope towards the drain valve. Directly the valve is mounted near the water source.

Winter option

Such water supply can be used throughout the year.

Pipes made of polyethylene and polypropylene are suitable for arranging the system. The former are sold at a lower price and are mounted without the use of special tools. The latter are somewhat more expensive and require the use of a pipe soldering iron during installation. However, in the end, you will spend more money on additional parts for mounting pipes based on polyethylene than on additional products used in the installation of polypropylene pipes.

Water pipes are laid with a slight slope towards the source of water supply. The pipeline should run 200-250 mm below the freezing point of the soil.

There is also an option with pipe laying at a depth of 300 mm. In this case, additional insulation of the pipeline is mandatory. Foamed polyethylene perfectly copes with the functions of thermal insulation. There are special products of a cylindrical shape. It is enough to simply put such rounded polypropylene on the pipe and as a result the product will be reliably protected from cold and other adverse effects.

Not only winter water pipes, but also a source of water need additional insulation.

For example, a well is insulated for the winter and covered with snow. These measures will be enough to ensure the protection of the structure from the cold.

Surface pumping equipment, if used, is equipped with a caisson. The caisson is a pit with additional insulation, equipped next to a water supply source equipped with a pump.

The installation of automatic pumping stations can only be carried out in a room where the air temperature does not drop to negative levels even in the most severe frosts.

The sewer system also needs to be insulated. In the absence of it, the drains will freeze and disrupt the operation of the drainage system.

Water pipes

Drafting a project

Start by designing the system. First of all, decide on the equipment. Specify the location of the water intake points, calculate the required number of fittings, select the optimal material of manufacture and type of water pipes.

Plastic pipes are used most often. These are durable and reliable products that fully cope with all the tasks assigned to them. At the same time, plastic pipes do not rust, which allows them to be sewn into walls, unlike metal counterparts.

Make a detailed diagram of the future plumbing. Indicate all dimensions on the drawing. So you can calculate the optimal footage and determine the required number of components. At the same time, it is recommended to buy components with a 10-15 percent margin.

You also have to decide whether you will independently choose and buy all the necessary equipment, or immediately buy a ready-made water intake station. At this point, be guided by your personal preferences.

Installation of plumbing system components

First step

Dig a trench from the water source to the point where the pipe enters the building.

Second step

Deep-type equipment is lowered into the water supply source. Surface pumps are mounted next to the well or well. The pump is installed in a heated room or in a caisson.

Third step

Connect the water pipe to the installed pump. Attach the free end of the connected pipe to the five-pin fitting.

Fourth step

Connect the storage tank, pressure gauge, and pressure switch to the free outlets of the fitting. The volume of the storage tank can reach 400-500 liters and even more. Thanks to this device, optimal will be provided. In addition, you can store water in the storage tank in case of unforeseen situations.

Fifth step

Connect the pipe to the remaining free fitting outlet, and then run the line along the previously leveled bottom of the dug trench straight into the house. Also, along the bottom of the pit, you need to lay a protected cable to connect the pump and accumulator.

It is important that the socket intended for switching on the units mentioned above is properly grounded.

sixth step

Install a shut-off valve in front of the pipe entry point into the building. It will allow you to shut off the water supply if necessary.

seventh step

After making sure that the external pipeline is working correctly, fill in the hole and proceed with the installation of the internal wiring.

Regardless of the selected source of water supply, it is strongly recommended that the water supply system be equipped with cleaning devices.

Perform internal wiring in accordance with the previously prepared diagram. At this point, focus on your preferences. Do everything so that in the future it is convenient for you to use the connected water supply.

In conclusion, you will have to equip the water intake points by connecting faucets, appliances, etc.

Providing hot water

If you need to provide hot water, you can complete your plumbing system with a water heater. There are accumulative and flowing varieties of such equipment. In summer cottages, it is most convenient to use storage tanks.

The installation of the water heater is carried out according to the standard scheme for such equipment.

Now you know in what order the installation of the plumbing system is carried out and what needs to be taken into account for the successful implementation of all related activities. Do everything in accordance with the provisions of the above guide, and your plumbing will work properly for many years.

Successful work!

Video - Do-it-yourself plumbing in a country house

In summer, the dacha is a favorite place for family vacations, and many go there for the entire summer season. For a comfortable summer residence and care for garden and garden plantings, running water is necessary. It is optimal to use for laying HDPE pipes, which have almost completely replaced traditional steel pipes due to their unique properties, budget price and the possibility of easy installation on their own.

Deciphering HDPE pipes - low-pressure polyethylene pipes. Such polymer products are manufactured by continuous screw extrusion methods, which determine the uniqueness of their characteristics. With their help, cold water is distributed throughout the country house and water is supplied for watering beds, flower beds, trees and other objects (for example, to a pool or bath).

HDPE pipe, technical specifications

For water supply, HDPE with blue lines is used, in the composition of products with yellow markings intended for gas supply, there are additives that make water unsuitable for use. Products are made of polyethylene with a density of 63, 80 and 100. With an increase in density, the strength and cost of products increase.

By maintaining the working pressure, measured in atmospheres, they differ:

  • lungs ≤ 2.5, denoted by the letter L;
  • medium-light ≤ 4, SL;
  • average ≤ 8, C;
  • severe ≥ 10, designation letter “T”.

For the device of external networks, the second and third varieties are used with diameters from 20 to 50 mm with a recommended density of 100 or 80 tons. Higher density allows to reduce the wall thickness, which reduces the weight of the product.

Modification PE 100 has the following technical characteristics:

  • density - 950-t kg per cubic meter;
  • modulus of elasticity - 800 mPa;
  • yield strength - 50 mPa;
  • coefficient of linear expansion - 2 mm per linear meter;
  • 250% elongation before breaks;
  • in terms of specific thermal conductivity -0.41 W / mK;
  • increased brittleness occurs at minus 50 °;
  • the maximum temperature of the water carrier is +40°С;
  • operating pressure: 4.5 atm - at plus 40°, 10 atm - at 20°.

Advantages and disadvantages

The attractiveness of HDPE for country water supply systems is due to the following properties:

  • resistance to corrosion and decay;
  • resistance to chemical influences;
  • rigidity and strength;
  • HDPE pipe is a product with a perfectly smooth inner surface, which leads to small pressure losses in the system during the passage of water and the absence of accumulation of deposits on the walls;
  • variety of produced diameters;
  • possibility of operation at a temperature ≤ minus 60 degrees;
  • elasticity, which allows not to burst when the remaining water in them freezes (they stretch, and after thawing they take on their original geometric dimensions);
  • HDPE water pipes do not emit substances harmful to humans and the environment, environmental friendliness is confirmed by a certificate of compliance with sanitary standards;
  • year-round operation;
  • do not affect the taste of drinking water;
  • light weight and packaged in bays facilitates transportation and storage;
  • low thermal conductivity, so condensation does not form on the surface;
  • dielectric, ensuring the absence of the effects of stray currents, which allows underground laying without the implementation of protective measures;
  • ease of installation of a water supply system in a country house from HDPE pipes with your own hands with the possibility of subsequent changes;
  • durability, service life declared by manufacturers ≥ 50 years;
  • low prices.

Available disadvantages:

  • limited temperature range, allowing use only for cold water supply (exception - made of cross-linked polyethylene);
  • instability to ultraviolet radiation, which necessitates underground laying or mandatory protection with shielding materials for outdoor applications;
  • low strength to mechanical stress, it is not permissible to move garden carts through pipelines and step on feet.

Laying a water pipe from HDPE pipes in the ground, technology

Scope of work:

  1. A layout of the distribution of the water supply network at the summer cottage is preliminarily drawn up, indicating the entrance to the house and the locations of the water distribution points. It is important to ensure convenient access of water to each of the desired zones. Depending on the area of the site, ≥ 5 pipe outlets are provided, to which rubber hoses of short length are attached, long ones will be difficult and inconvenient to carry. The diagram shows the installation locations of cranes with the calculation of the possibility of shutting down individual emergency sections. The diagram indicates the distance from buildings and other permanent landmarks to easily determine the location of the network in the future, if necessary.
  2. Calculation of the required pipe footage, the number of fittings, tees, angles, adapters, couplings and taps.
  3. What HDPE pipe to use for underground water supply? Recommended variant PN10, available in black with blue stripes applied.
  4. Development of soil in trenches deeper than the depth of seasonal soil freezing in your area ≥ 20 cm, for the central regions of Russia 1.6 m is enough. Trenches are dug narrow (about 50 cm), they should not pass under existing and planned buildings, and also cross other engineering communications. If it is impossible to develop to the required depth, the pipelines will have to be insulated, although the water supply will not break, but the frozen areas create traffic jams that interfere with the supply of water. Reliable protection against freezing - polyurethane foam shells. Water conduits entering the house are placed at the same depth as in other trenches. Installation of HDPE pipes vertically is carried out only inside the building.
  5. The bottom of the trench is compacted with rammers, geotextiles are laid on top with a slight overlap on the walls and a 10 cm sand cushion is arranged, which will protect the products from deformation.
  6. Layout along trenches with a check for compliance with a sufficient number. The supply pipes from the source of water supply are selected with a diameter of 40 mm, for the distribution network - 20 mm.
  7. Connection of HDPE pipes and installation of taps. The connection is of two types: detachable and one-piece. For the first type, the following types of couplings are used:

    • compression, with internal or external thread;
    • connecting, used for the same diameters;
    • reducing, used to connect pipelines of different sections.

    The method is simple and fast to perform. Consists of the following operations:

    • at the end of the elements, the depth of entry into the fitting is marked with a marker;
    • the chamfer is carefully removed, you can use a regular construction knife or a special chamfer;
    • inserting the pipe into the fitting, to facilitate the pipe end is lubricated with liquid soap or silicone grease;
    • screwing the nut by hand without the use of tools with which it is easy to tighten it, which is unacceptable.

    The second type is performed by butt welding HDPE pipes or electric couplings, it is recommended when passing water under pressure. Docking in the first way is performed using special soldering irons for polymers, which are inexpensive. Execution steps:

    • the ends of the elements to be welded are cleaned, cut evenly, clamped in hardware clamps and centered;
    • parts are heated to their melting temperatures;
    • removing the soldering iron and connecting the ends of the elements;
    • cooling of the resulting seam.

    Coupling with electric coils is easier, but they are expensive. When voltage is applied to the spirals, the elements to be connected are welded to the walls of the coupling.

    The decision on how to connect HDPE pipes depends on the operating conditions of the pipelines, but permanent connections are recommended for underground installation.

  8. Checking the tightness of the pipeline.
  9. Trench backfill. The pipeline is covered with 10 layers of sand with compaction on the sides; it is unacceptable to compact the sand over the conduit. Further backfilling is carried out with previously excavated soil.

Above-ground laying is easier and faster to perform, but it will interfere with the movement of garden equipment and even the passage of people. To protect against the damaging effects of ultraviolet rays, it is recommended to cover the conduit with a thin layer of soil or cover it with protective screens. For the winter, pipelines laid on top should be dismantled and cleaned in utility rooms.
