Homemade juice press. Original roofing and designer roofs: Press frukt

Processing the harvest of berries and fruits is one of the most important tasks that not only farmers, but also owners of household plots have to solve. The technical devices that greatly facilitate this process include a juice squeezer, which allows you to quickly and without significant physical effort turn fruits and berries into tasty and vitamin-rich juice. There is a wide variety of such devices on the modern market, but those home craftsmen who want to save on their purchase may well make such a press with their own hands.

Principle of operation and types

All presses for squeezing juice from various berries and fruits can be divided into four main types:

  • mechanical devices;
  • hydraulic presses;
  • electrohydraulic models;
  • pneumatic devices.

The most common due to the low cost and simplicity of its design is a manual type mechanical press. One of the main elements of its design is a perforated basket, in which crushed fruits (pulp) or berries are poured to squeeze the juice. Fruits and berries are squeezed out in such a device with the help of a piston, the lowering of which (and the creation of the required pressure) is carried out by rotating the handle, which drives the screw mechanism of the press. The juice formed during the piston pressure flows through the holes in the basket into a special tray, from where it is then poured into another container.

For the manufacture of a basket into which the raw materials for juicing are loaded, sheet stainless steel or hardwood (for example, beech) can be used. In the second case, the design of such a basket is a drainage grate, consisting of two equal parts, interconnected by metal hoops.

A modernized and, accordingly, more efficient version of the manual device is a hydraulic press, which can be used to extract juice from apples and berries. Instead of a perforated container, the design of such a press uses several drainage frames made of solid wood. The crushed raw materials from which it is necessary to obtain juice are placed in fabric bags and placed between such frames, which are subjected to significant pressure (1–5 tons) from above, created by a manual hydraulic jack. Using such a pressing mechanism, you can get up to 70% of the juice from the total mass of the processed crop.

A hydraulic press does not necessarily involve the use of a jack as a mechanism that creates the required pressure. So, in one of the designs of such presses, an elastic barrel-membrane is used as this mechanism, expanding under the influence of water supplied to it at a pressure of 1.5–2 atm from a conventional water supply network. Expanding, such a press membrane acts on fruits and berries placed in a perforated basket, squeezing juice out of them, which flows through holes in the walls of the basket into a storage tray.

According to the above principle, a pneumatic press for squeezing juice also works. The only difference is that the expansion of the barrel-membrane, which is also present in its design, occurs not under the influence of the water filling it, but under the pressure of compressed air supplied from the compressor.

Since certain types of raw materials from which it is necessary to squeeze the juice are loaded into the presses in crushed form, it is necessary to mention the devices that help bring it into such a state. The design of the simplest grinder is a steel drum, the walls of which are made in the form of a grater. Such a drum, which turns the raw material loaded into it into small crumbs, is placed in a casing with a loading neck. This simple and effective mechanism is driven by the rotation of a special handle. There are also more efficient and productive models of such units that are started using an electric motor.

If we talk about the productivity of mechanical presses for squeezing juice, then it is quite small and can be in the range of 10–30 l/h. However, this performance is quite enough for devices used for domestic purposes.

In order to increase the percentage of juice yield from squeezed fruits and berries, as well as improve its quality, two methods are used:

  • raw materials are loaded into the presses in fabric bags that act as filters;
  • squeezing out the juice is carried out by means of drainage grates made of wood, or by means of stainless steel "pancakes".

The use of drainage grates or “pancakes” ensures that juice is squeezed not only from the upper and lower, but also from the middle part of the compressed volume. Bags, as mentioned above, act as filters and allow you to immediately clean the squeezed juice from the pulp.

In cases where the performance of a manual press to obtain juice is not enough, electric machines are used. The electric drive can be seen in a screw press for squeezing juice and in screw-type units operating on the principle of a conventional meat grinder. In the first case, the press drive is a pair of "electric motor - hydraulic jack".

In screw presses, which are structurally reminiscent of a conventional meat grinder, the drive motor is directly connected to the working body - the screw. Such a press is used for squeezing grapes, it is also an excellent press for fruits, berries and squeezing juice from tomatoes. It works according to the following principle: the loaded raw material is crushed by means of a screw and forced through a sieve having a conical shape. This shape of the sieve allows not only high-quality juice extraction, but also to beat off the seeds. It should be borne in mind that grape or any other juice obtained at the outlet of such a press has a large amount of pulp.

Prices for serial models of juice presses depend on several factors:

  • the volume of the loading basket;
  • device type;
  • material of manufacture;
  • productivity of the press in terms of juice obtained per unit of time.

The cheapest, of course, is a small-capacity home press operating on the screw principle. The cost of a hydraulic juicer is slightly higher. Next in the price category is a press juicer for processing apples and other raw materials, working using compressed air. The most expensive on the market today are membrane-type hydraulic crushers.

Do-it-yourself juice presses

It is quite possible to make a juice press with your own hands, the main thing is to find work schemes and drawings of such homemade products, which will not be difficult. Many of those home craftsmen who already have experience in manufacturing such equipment are happy to share photos of their devices and even videos showing the process of their manufacture and the principle of operation in detail.

Most often, they strive to make screw-type presses with their own hands. Meanwhile, it should be borne in mind that it will not work to make a powerful screw for such a device without the involvement of a qualified turner. It can be made without third-party specialists if you replace the screw mechanism with a conventional jack (mechanical or hydraulic), which is in the arsenal of every motorist.

The main load-bearing element of a do-it-yourself juice press is the frame. Its strength should be given special attention. For the manufacture of such a frame, which will rest against the jack and create the required pressure, you can use a square metal pipe with a cross section of 40x40 and a wall thickness of at least 3 mm. When calculating the height of the frame of your homemade press, you should take into account the total thickness of the drainage grates, linings and bags of raw materials, as well as the height of the jack. The width of the frame can be chosen arbitrarily - the main thing is that a storage tray is placed in the opening created to collect the squeezed juice.

When creating a do-it-yourself apple or grape press design, special attention should be paid to its stability. To effectively solve this problem, three pieces of a square pipe can be welded to the bottom of the frame, which will serve as legs and ensure the stability of the unit. A stand made of boards or wood board is placed on the top of the legs, on which the pallet will be placed.

Drainage grids, complete with which your apple, grape or any other press will work, should be made only from hardwood (oak or beech). The thickness of the boards from which such gratings will be made must be at least 20 mm.

The basket of the press is made of oak planks (you can buy parquet boards), tightened with corners with small gaps and fixed with stainless steel screws.

Bags in which apple pulp or other raw materials for squeezing juice will be placed can be made from various fabrics (the main thing is that such a fabric is highly durable and the bags that are sewn from it do not break under the high pressure created by the jack). As such fabrics, in particular, you can use ordinary burlap, jute, cotton and linen fabrics, chintz and synthetic materials.

Presses existed in ancient Egypt, with their help they squeezed grapes from which wine was made. Such units operate on a cyclic basis: the beginning of work is the loading of the product, and the end of work is the disposal of dry waste. In private households of the 21st century, presses are in demand, and they differ little in their principle from those that worked in the time of the pharaohs.

Types of structures and their principle of operation

A press that allows you to squeeze juice with high quality is necessary in a private household. Factory-made juicers do not have such advantages as a do-it-yourself press. The economic factor is also important, because a good juicer from a branded manufacturer costs a decent amount. Press designs are divided according to the principle of pressing into the following types:

  • mechanical;
  • pneumatic;
  • hydraulic.

And also, depending on the principle of energy that is used, the presses are represented by the following varieties:

  • manual;
  • electromechanical.

Important! It should also be taken into account the fact that vitamins in fruits and vegetables are fragile elements. Such compounds are quickly destroyed by contact with any metal.

It is worth considering an apple press as an example. The main block of any unit is a special container with drilled holes, into which chopped raw materials are placed. In the professional dialect, the original mass is called "pulp". The juice flows down and falls into a special vessel. All parts that are in direct contact with the resulting product are made of wood. In order to increase the efficiency of the pomace, as well as improve the quality of the resulting product, the raw material is loaded into the press in special fabric containers made of burlap, they are a kind of filter. The extrusion process itself takes place thanks to the use of special wooden gratings, which allows you to simultaneously use the entire working mass.

Many experts point out that the press is better to do it yourself. The price of the simplest devices is at least ten thousand rubles. It is important what material the unit is made of, what is its performance.

If the simplest hydraulic drive is used, then the price increases by almost 100%. If there is a membrane element in the press, then its cost will increase by 1000%.

How to make with your own hands?

To make a manual apple garden unit yourself, you will need tools such as:

  • saws;
  • various wooden elements;
  • metal corners;
  • bolts with nuts;
  • hammers;
  • keys;
  • wire cutters;
  • pliers.

You will also need a stainless steel sheet and wooden elements made of oak, birch, beech or alder. It is imperative to draw design drawings, and samples can be found on the Internet in the public domain. You will need a natural strong fabric with good filtering properties (burlap, cotton). Chipboard in such designs is not recommended, since this material is often impregnated with phenol and formaldehyde.

A manual home-made apparatus in a private household can be welded from iron, such an assembly is easy to quickly assemble on your own. For the stove, which is located at the bottom of the device, it is permissible to use a countertop. It is most rational to purchase a rotating mechanism on a trading platform that sells car parts.

Small hydraulic units are also common in households. The hydraulic press works on the principle of creating pressure due to liquid. In this case, the working cylinder is usually located vertically (sometimes there are horizontal modifications). A hydraulic jack has greater productivity and is capable of creating significant loads - at least one ton, which is quite enough for fruits. Hydraulic "bottle" jacks can process large volumes of raw materials in a short time.

Hydraulic

The operation of the device is based on one of the main physical laws of Pascal. The main structural elements are two working chambers of a cylindrical configuration, which have different parameters. In a small container, increased fluid pressure is generated. It is fed through a special overpass into the chamber, which is much larger in size, thus causing pressure on the piston.

The piston is the main unit, which directly exerts a significant force on the mass loaded into the container. Most often, special oils are used as working fluids.

The hydraulic press can also work using a special elastic barrel. It will expand in volume under the influence of liquid. When expanding, the membrane acts on the raw material, which is folded into a perforated container. The hydraulic press can be connected to the water supply, the membrane expands in the perforated cylinder itself, which makes it possible to squeeze out all the liquid contents from the pulp as much as possible.

The pressure should correspond to 1.4–2.1 atmospheres, which corresponds to the technical data of the networks. If there are large volumes of material, then you will definitely need a press with an electric drive.

The collection container is lined with filters from the inside, raw materials are placed in it, covered with a cloth. A circle descends onto the outer part of the cover, it acts on the press when the rod moves. The required pressure can be created using a compressor. To collect juice, enameled dishes are most often involved, into which a special tube is sealed so that the product flows through it. A tank from a washing machine is often placed in the inner area.

It is also necessary to create additional perpendicular crossbars to give additional rigidity so that it is possible to place the container in the central part.

It is important to monitor the pressure, it should be distributed to all points of the pulp with equal effort.

The cavity can be filled with special filter envelopes that are placed flat. A special fixing round device (can be made of wood) is placed under the container so that the pressure cannot deform the main container. Without much effort, such a screw press is able to squeeze out up to two liters of fresh juice in 4–7 minutes. The material that perfectly withstands great pressure is burlap, and old nylon tights are also often used.

It should be noted that the design of the hydraulic unit, made independently, can be quickly adapted to solve the problem that is required at the moment. Such a device takes up a minimum of space. A home press is capable of creating pressure up to twenty tons to make juices, this is quite enough.

Screw

The screw unit has the ability to squeeze out up to three buckets of juice in one hour, which is quite enough for the needs of one family. A very convenient device is a manual screw press. It does not have high performance, however, the unit can work quite efficiently. Often this type of press is done in private households. The screw mechanism can press from the upper plane with the help of a rotating screw.

If you design a press where there is a lower fixation, then more effort will be required, such an apparatus is more complicated, in it the screw upper block only fixes the lid, no more. The main effort comes from below, the dynamic platform lifts the tank up.

If it is not possible to make a screw pair, then most often a jack is used. Bags of filter material are placed between the wooden elements. The product to be processed is placed between special wooden frames, the juice flows into a container.

The screw piston can be replaced with a plastic membrane, and a compressor can be connected so that the most difficult part of the work is done by air under pressure. Such a unit is called a pneumatic press. Often, car jacks are used to generate the required pressure; they can create a force of up to 3.5 tons. It can be mounted both from above and from below, which depends on the general structure of the unit itself.

The pressure is quite significant, which should be taken into account when choosing a fabric. It should be pretty solid. The advantage of such a unit is that there is no metal here. The tree can be anything, only non-coniferous, so as not to add too much flavor.

A rather original unit is also practiced, which is called a wedge press. The product is placed in a cone-shaped wooden container. Decreasing the angle with the moving wedges causes them to move towards the joint. The bag with the product is compressed, the juice, squeezing out, flows into the vessel. This press has the following advantages:

  • the design is simple;
  • economically viable;
  • easy to store and install;
  • fairly high performance;
  • The unit is easy to disassemble, clean and dry.

An example is a press made in Turkey. The frame is made of cast iron, and the inside is silver plated. The product is choked using a lever-type mechanism. The work is silent, it is possible to extract up to 75% of useful material from the product in a very short time. It is designed for pomegranate, apples, pears as well as citrus fruits.

Auger

Such presses operate on the principle of a meat grinder. They have a rotating axis, which is made like a spiral, due to which the processed mass in the tank is ground and gradually moves inside the unit. As a result, it rests against the grate, the new mass creates excess pressure from behind, and the juice is squeezed out. Such a device has the following advantages:

  • lack of vibration and background noise;
  • you can get juices from any vegetables and fruits;
  • simplicity and reliability of the machine.

Citrus fruits are considered the most labor-intensive product. The screw assembly crushes the contents of the fruit, the juice seeps through a special sieve. The cone-shaped configuration makes it possible to carry out all the work qualitatively, removing waste at the same time.

As a chopper, it is best to use a mechanical assembly in the form of a cylinder. Its walls should be made according to the principle of a grater. Using a similar element, the fruits become small crumbs within a few minutes. And there are also shredders that can operate from the electrical network, the productivity of such devices is high, but in a private household they are not very in demand.

The grinder can be a separate device or a block that is mounted in a press installation. The filter is made from several layers of burlap, as well as perforated plates and a wooden sieve.

Each type of fruit has its own technical indicators, respectively, different efforts are spent on processing a particular product. When working with a device such as a press, it should be borne in mind that the pressure builds up gradually, while some pauses are made. This approach makes it possible to maximize the opening of cellular capillaries, which in turn "takes out" all the useful components from the cellular tissue of the product.

The simple design of a home press makes it possible to squeeze up to 75% of juice from any product. To decide on the choice of a hydraulic jack, you should understand exactly what tasks need to be solved using it. This will tell you the design principle of a manual hydraulic press, as well as the level of pressure that it can create.

How to create a press for apples with your own hands, see below.

The owners of orchards, vineyards and berry plantations are well aware of the problem of crop processing. An effective way to solve it is cold pressing the juice. This process allows you to save the vitamin value of fruits and berries for a long time without building a bulk storage.

The main mechanism of the country "canning shop" - a press for squeezing juice. It helps to process hundreds of kilograms of a ripe crop quickly and without loss.

We will talk about the existing varieties, principles of operation and the cost of equipment for obtaining juice in this article. For home craftsmen, information about the features of self-manufacturing a powerful "juicer" will be useful.

Types and principles of operation of juice presses

Juice extractors are divided into mechanical, hydraulic, electro-hydraulic and pneumatic.

The most common mechanism is a mechanical screw press.

Juice screw press is simple and reliable

The principle of its operation is clear at a glance: crushed fruits are placed in a container with holes, grapes or berries are poured. After that, by turning the handle, the screw is driven, lowering the flat piston. The squeezed juice flows through the holes in the casing into the tray, and from there it enters the jars or other containers.

In addition to stainless steel, solid beech wood is used to make the casing. They make a drainage grate out of it. It consists of two halves connected by metal hoops.

A modernized version of such a device is a manual hydraulic press for apples and grapes.

It does not have a perforated container to separate the juice. Instead, several wooden drainage frames are used. Between them, bags with crushed raw materials are placed. A manual hydraulic jack develops a large force (from 1 to 5 tons). Thanks to this, the volume of juice obtained reaches 70% of the volume of the fruit.

The original method of squeezing is implemented in the Grifo hydraulic press. It does not have a hydraulic jack, but a powerful “barrel” membrane is installed. It expands under the pressure of tap water (1.5-2 atm.) and squeezes the juice through the perforated wall of the casing.

Hydropress Grifo - connected to the water supply and squeezed the juice

A pneumatic press works on a similar principle. Only the membrane crusher in it is filled not with water, but with compressed air from the compressor.

Pneumatic juice press. Screw piston replaced by rubber diaphragm

Since all juice presses are paired with choppers, a few words must be said about these devices. The simplest mechanism is a steel grater drum placed in a casing with a loading neck. By turning the handle, the chopper is activated, turning the fruit into small crumbs-pulp.

A more advanced option is a device with an electric drive. A minimum of physical effort and a maximum of productivity are the main arguments in its favor.

It should be noted that the productivity of mechanical presses is low (10-30 liters per hour). However, for most summer cottages it is quite enough.

To improve the quality and increase the yield of juice, two methods are used:

  • Container bags for crushed fruits.
  • Wooden drainage grates or "pancakes" made of stainless steel.

Both methods improve the removal of juice from the middle of the compressed volume. Without such drainage, the middle layers of crushed fruit are squeezed out worse than the upper and lower ones. An additional plus from the use of bags is the release of juice from the pulp.

Large volumes of processing require the use of an electric drive. Two types of equipment can be distinguished here: a traditional screw mechanism driven by a pair of “electric motor-hydraulic jack” and a screw press operating on the principle of a meat grinder.

Screw press juicer with an electric motor is designed for processing berries, grapes and tomatoes. Grinding raw materials, the screw pushes it through a sieve and produces juice with a large amount of pulp.

Estimated prices

The cost of manual screw presses for squeezing juice directly depends on their capacity. The price of devices with a working volume of 10-15 liters is in the range from 9,000 to 15,000 rubles. For a manual press, which holds 25 liters of raw materials, you will have to pay at least 20,000 rubles.

The average price of home "juice presses" powered by a hydraulic jack is 19,000 rubles. A pneumatic press for squeezing apple juice can be bought for 34,000 rubles. For a membrane-type hydraulic device, sellers are asking 94,000 rubles.

How to make a juice press with your own hands?

The most complex assembly of a manual juice press is a powerful screw. It is impossible to make it without the help of a qualified turner. At the same time, each car owner has a mechanism that is perfect for squeezing juice. This is a hydraulic or mechanical jack. Using it, you can make a good homemade juice press.

The main task is to weld a solid frame from a metal profile, into which the jack will rest. For this purpose, you can take scraps of a square pipe (section 40x40 mm, wall thickness of at least 3 mm).

When making a drawing of the press, the height of the frame is chosen based on the height of the jack, the thickness of the linings, drainage grates and bags of raw materials. The width of the frame is made such that the juice tray fits freely into it.

In order to make the do-it-yourself juice press as stable as possible, three pieces of a square pipe (length 15-20 cm) must be welded to the bottom belt of the frame on both sides. A stand made of boards or OSB boards will rest on these “legs”.

The drainage grate should be made only from natural wood (oak, beech). The thickness of the planks of the drainage grid must be at least 20 mm.

For sewing bags, you can take different fabrics (burlap made of jute, linen, cotton calico, synthetics). The main thing is that it be strong enough so that it is not torn apart by the pressure of the jack.

In conclusion, let's look at photographs of a working sample of such a press. Without resorting to welding, the master decided to make a bolted frame using a powerful corner and a profile pipe.

For the bottom base plate, a piece of laminated chipboard worktop was used.

But the master chose the material for the drainage grate incorrectly. Instead of natural wood, he used OSB board, making cuts in it to drain the juice. We do not advise you to repeat this mistake, because particle board contains toxic phenol-formaldehyde glue.

The drainage grate for the press is only wood, not chipboard!

In general, the homemade juice press turned out to be simple, reliable and efficient.

But a more complex design of a do-it-yourself hydraulic press. Here the craftsman decided to use the screw as a retainer for the fruit bookmark, placed in a perforated stainless steel casing. He placed a hydraulic jack under the frame. The support platform is made not stationary, but sliding. The jack moves it up the frame profile.

In this press, the screw does not squeeze the juice, but only fixes the bookmark

The quality of store juices often causes justified criticism. In society, it has long been believed that the safest drink from vegetables or fruits is squeezed out "with your own hands." A necessary device for this simple procedure is a juicer. There is no shortage of inexpensive urban juicers. More often these are small household appliances that will not always be able to process a bountiful harvest from the site.

More powerful machines are expensive and inaccessible. The way out in such a situation can be a do-it-yourself juicer for apples or other fruits.

To figure out how to make a juicer and start your own project, you need to understand how it works. Juicing involves chopping fruits or vegetables and actually pressing them.

Depending on the design of the device, the processes can be performed sequentially or simultaneously. In centrifugal models, grinding with a centrifuge first follows, then the press comes into play. Screw machines extract juice during processing.

Structural elements

Regardless of the choice of screw or centrifugal design, to assemble a homemade juicer you will need:

  • crushing and pressing device;
  • bunker for laying;
  • container for collecting pomace.

Further constructive complexity depends on technical capabilities.

The easiest option is manual grinding, followed by placement under a screw press. More complex versions require a mechanical chopper drive.

Screw versions with simultaneous grinding and squeezing are more expensive and will require more time to manufacture.

Hand press

The easiest way to get a device for squeezing juice is to use grandfather's experience. In ancient times, an ordinary wooden trough and a cut (a special knife for chopping hard fruits and vegetables) were used to grind pre-peeled apples.

The pulp prepared in this way, packed in canvas (gauze), was reloaded into a wooden tub under the press. To drain the juice into a specially prepared container, a hole was made in the lower part of the tub. Any heavy object could be used as a press, for example, a couple of boulders.

Press

When possible, a screw press was used, consisting of:

  • support frame made of wood or metal;
  • screw with handle for tightening;
  • round support board with a diameter according to the internal dimensions of the container.

The possibility of using a welded machine will allow you to assemble a press from metal. Alternatively, you can use:

  • two pipes;
  • a U-shaped profile is welded on top;
  • a hole is made in the profile and a threaded head is welded to install the screw;
  • on the bottom of the screw should be provided with a stop for wringing;
  • top rotation handle;
  • from below, a pair of clamps are welded to the pipes for mounting on a support board;
  • instead of clamps, a supporting structure made of a metal profile can be used.

This option will not be too costly in terms of time and necessary funds. The performance of the device depends on the volume of the tub.

In operation, the pressing method is more laborious due to the performance of a significant part of the work manually.

Centrifugal juicer from washing machine elements

A popular automated option is centrifugal-type juicers from a washing machine. For their manufacture, the following are extracted from the donor device:

  • drum (centrifuge);
  • casing (tank), checked for defects;
  • fasteners;
  • ball bearings.

All dismantled parts must be cleaned of powder residues, rust, scale. All openings in the tank must be welded or closed with rubber stoppers. Of all the holes, only one should remain for draining the spin. A useful element of the tank will be a filter mesh, which is mounted above the drain outlet.

Making a grater

The standard centrifuge cannot be used as a grater and needs to be modified. Standard holes that are used to drain water during the wringer will not cope with grinding. You can solve the problem in several ways. Among them:

  • make a steel lining from stainless steel, drill holes and fill teeth, fix it inside the centrifuge;
  • install a grid on the walls of the centrifuge, which will serve as a grinder;
  • ream the regular holes of the drum and fill the notches with the sharp part inward with the direction against its movement.

Installation in an enclosure

The drum with a grater is mounted in the tank. For this purpose, fasteners and ball bearings from the washing unit are used. Mounting is carried out depending on the characteristics of the donor machine. The assembled structure is placed in a vertical case, which is closed with a removable lid with latches or a wing-type fastening. From above, a hopper is inserted into the opening of the lid, where vegetables or fruits are placed for chopping.

To prevent the apple bin from falling through to the grater, a limiter should be provided. The body itself is mounted on a rigid or shock-absorbing base. The main thing is that the device does not lose stability from vibrations during operation.

Engine

The drive of the device is borrowed from the same washing machine. It can be located outside or inside the case. Its speed must be coordinated with the required speed of rotation of the centrifuge by a system of pulleys of the appropriate diameter.

screw device

A more time-consuming option, in terms of manufacturing, is a screw juicer. In this case, most of the parts of the unit are performed independently:

  • stainless steel body;
  • a screw press placed inside the housing;
  • bunker;
  • a tray for receiving juice from which it flows into a container;
  • engine at 1.5 thousand revolutions.

The assembled structure is mounted on a stand made of a metal frame with an engine fixed in it. The belt drive transfers the rotation from the motor to the auger pulley.

The listed options are not a detailed description of the manufacture of a homemade juicer. These are general ideas on the basis of which you can develop your project based on the available opportunities.

A homemade juicer with high performance will be useful for gardeners and gardeners who have to solve the problem of processing a large amount of fruits or vegetables during the season. For domestic needs, a factory-made household juicer is quite enough, which will provide its owners with several servings of freshly squeezed juice.

The question of whether a do-it-yourself juicer can be made is primarily of interest to the owners of summer cottages and household plots, who annually harvest fruits and berries, which must be quickly processed and stored. Even more relevant to this issue is the fact that juices obtained on their own are much tastier and healthier than those sold in stores.

Today, purchasing a juicer of any capacity is not a problem, but such equipment is not cheap. That is why it is advisable to make a juicer with your own hands, especially since the design of such devices is not very complex.

How do juicers work

Before you wonder how to make a juicer with your own hands, you should understand the principle by which it works. To get juice from fruits or berries, you need to put pressure on them. According to their design and principle of operation, juicers can be of the following types:

  • mechanical devices;
  • hydraulic;
  • electrohydraulic;
  • pneumatic.

The simplest in design are mechanical type juicers, which are most often made by home craftsmen with their own hands. The principle of operation of such devices, which are not distinguished by high performance, but are quite suitable for domestic use, is based on the fact that a piston acts on the raw material, pressure on which is applied using a screw mechanism. Fruits and berries are loaded into a perforated basket, through the holes in the walls of which the finished juice flows into the storage tray.

The basket of screw presses can be made of stainless steel sheet or solid wood. Baskets made of wood are drainage gratings, consisting of two halves connected to each other with metal hoops. Screw presses of the above design can even be used to extract apple juice. In this case, the feedstock is loaded into the basket of such a juicer in a finely divided form.

How to make a do-it-yourself juicer

As mentioned above, mechanical presses for squeezing juice are the simplest in design and, accordingly, easy to manufacture. In order for apples with your own hands, on which it will be possible to process other fruit and berry raw materials, you will need the following consumables and tools:

  • stainless steel sheet;
  • channel or square metal pipe with a section of 40x40 and a wall thickness of at least 3 mm;
  • pipe with a diameter of 16 mm;
  • a rod, on the surface of which a thread is applied;
  • screw;
  • board 30 mm thick;
  • welding machine;
  • grinder and electric drill;
  • hammer;
  • hacksaw for metal.

Before you start making a homemade apple juicer, it is advisable to find drawings or drawings of such a device on the Internet or draw them yourself. It would also be useful to watch a video on making a juicer, which shows such a process in all its details.

Juicer press options

In the upper part of the resulting press frame, it is necessary to drill a hole into which the nut for the screw mechanism of the device is welded. Depending on whether you need a large or small juicer, the dimensions of the perforated basket and frame are selected, which acts as the supporting element of the entire juicer.

As a piston, through which the screw mechanism will exert pressure on the raw materials loaded into the basket, you can use a wood board (a circle of the appropriate diameter is cut out of it).
