We build summerhouses together. Country gazebos - what are the alternatives to wood? How to build gazebos in the country

Country gazebos should be as comfortable as possible and at the same time as simple as possible in construction.

IMPORTANT! The most common and easy-to-process material for the construction of country houses is wood. This material is considered one of the most affordable and suitable for building a gazebo in the country. If you do the bulk of the work with your own hands, then the construction of a gazebo will be inexpensive, because you will have to pay only for materials.

The construction of a gazebo is not possible without creating a project and a drawing of a future building. Projects and drawings can be viewed on the Internet, or you can order from specialists. When preparing a project, you need to consider the location of the gazebo in a particular area, you should take into account the direction of the wind and calculate from which side the sunny side will be. All dimensions must be shown on the drawing. The dimensions of the gazebo depend on the number of vacationers and on the size of the summer cottage itself.

How to make a gazebo out of wood? Building a gazebo with certain skills is not difficult, the main thing is to have a well-designed project and act according to the drawing.

The order of work is as follows:

  1. site marking for construction;
  2. installation of the foundation, for a wooden gazebo, a base made of timber is suitable;
  3. the floor in the gazebo can be made of wooden slats, which must be attached to beams from a bar;
  4. wall installation. Depending on the drawing, the walls can be solid or lattice;
  5. installation of a roof that is attached to the base;
  6. choice of roofing material, for example, metal tiles, roofing material;
  7. wood surface treatment with special protective agents.

If you want to save time or money, pay attention to the awning for giving. An awning, compared to a full-fledged gazebo, is cheap and does not require construction work. To build an awning, it will be enough to make a frame from the materials that are available and cover it with a dense fabric, tarpaulin. This design will protect you from the sun in summer. You can buy a ready-made gazebo-awning in the store.

A prefabricated gazebo will also relieve you of the need to engage in construction work. A prefabricated gazebo is a portable structure that can be disassembled for storage or installed elsewhere at any time. The degree of openness of the gazebo can be adjusted using an awning.

Such arbors can be made of wood, plastic or metal. Wooden gazebos look very attractive, they give the impression of a light and openwork design. The cost of prefabricated arbors is much lower than wooden capital structures.

Metal gazebos have an impressive service life, but they are much more expensive than wooden buildings. A metal gazebo can be additionally equipped with a barbecue.

You can buy a prefabricated wooden gazebo at a price of 20,000 rubles,

a model of a finished wooden gazebo will cost 40,000 rubles.

$ The price of a metal prefabricated gazebo is from 65,000 rubles.

Do-it-yourself summerhouses

You can not only buy a gazebo ready-made in the store, but also build it yourself. How to build a gazebo? First you need to prepare the materials that will be needed for construction. In addition to traditional wood and metal, gazebos began to be built from improvised materials. These can be old windows, unnecessary tires, construction defects or remnants of materials from past construction. Since most summer residents have boards and other wood, we will make a gazebo out of wood.

  1. It is necessary to mark the construction site.
  2. We install the frame of the gazebo from the boards. There are several boards in each suburban area.
  3. We select not a heavy roof for a gazebo. The simplest material at hand is oilcloth, you can also use any dense fabric or a piece of tarpaulin. Oilcloth must be nailed to a wooden frame at the same distance.
  4. You can decorate the gazebo with plastic products.

Homemade gazebos are original and comfortable. It is not difficult to make such a gazebo with your own hands, even without the necessary experience.

Installation of a frame gazebo

Frame gazebos are very easy to install. First you need to choose the material for the frame. The frame can be made from almost any material, it can be metal, plastic or wood. The frame will perform the supporting function, and the walls will perform the function of a fence.

  1. Installation of a column foundation. The size and type of base depends on the massiveness of the future gazebo. For wooden arbors, a columnar foundation is most often used.
  2. Performing the bottom trim. The lower trim is assembled directly on the foundation.
  3. Installation of frame racks.
  4. Performing braces to all racks of the gazebo. The slopes will provide the frame with rigidity, strength and stability.
  5. Making the top strap. After the upper strapping, it is imperative to strengthen the building with building brackets.

During the summer season, a prefabricated gazebo will help out. A prefabricated gazebo can be installed with your own hands almost anywhere. If you want to hide from the sun, then install a gazebo under the crowns of trees. If desired, the gazebo can be installed closer to the house. Collapsible gazebos are cheaper than capital ones and do not require construction costs. A small prefabricated gazebo is a real salvation from the summer heat.

Inexpensive gazebos for summer cottages

Ready-made arbors, as a rule, cost a lot. Inexpensive gazebos are most often made of open or semi-open wood. Open gazebos do not require a massive foundation, due to their light weight and design features, they also require less material. Open gazebos are no worse than closed gazebos-houses. For example, original open-type gazebos are obtained from tree trunks.

Economy class gazebos, as a rule, are compact wooden buildings. The size of gazebos is most often 4x2.5 meters, 4x4. These are simple, practical buildings without any unnecessary elements.

The framework of arbors can be stationary or collapsible. Collapsible gazebos have a design that, if necessary, can be disassembled. Collapsible arbors are cheap and multifunctional, but their service life is less than that of stationary arbors.

Simple and cheap gazebos to build yourself. In order to save money, you can build a gazebo from branches, tree trunks, boards. Making such a gazebo does not require professional tools.

The video shows the installation procedure for a beautiful and practical gazebo:

You can buy an economy class gazebo at a price of 4371 rubles per square meter.

A gazebo for a summer residence is a necessary element for organizing a recreation area. As you have seen for yourself, the construction of a beautiful gazebo will not always be expensive. You can always build a gazebo on your own, using improvised materials, the construction will not get worse from such savings.

What could be more comfortable than a warm family circle, when after a working day everyone dine at the same table or have tea on a day off, and even in the fresh air? What could be more carefree than a friendly party with wine and barbecue in the depths of the cottage, under the dense crowns of trees? Where can you be alone with yourself, relax in seclusion and enjoy the silence? Nothing will create such a variety of scenarios for relaxation as a garden gazebo, the very name of which contains the most joyful moments of life - conversations - communication with family and friends, unity with nature. It will be especially pleasant to spend time in a place lovingly built with your own hands.

Stage # 3 - roofing and roofing work

The easiest way is to cover the gazebo with shingles, as shown in this video example:

The technologies for building a shed roof - and a gable roof - are also very well described.

Extraordinary design ideas for garden gazebos

You may be interested in how to build a gazebo from the simplest materials that are literally lying under your feet. Take a closer look at ordinary plastic bottles, which, it would seem, cannot be used anywhere, but it’s a pity to throw them away - it always seems that they will come in handy somewhere. You can easily use plastic bottles as a building material, and you can easily build a structure yourself.

Here, of course, one cannot do without the mandatory stages of arranging the foundation, frame and roof, which will require both financial and labor costs. The walls of such a gazebo, made of plastic bottles, not only cost free, but also serve as a good option for protection from the sun and precipitation.

The contrasting combination of transparent and brown plastic bottles emphasizes the unusualness of a colorful country-style gazebo

Simplify the task of building the creation of a foundation of ready-made metal screw piles, which can be screwed into the ground on their own, equipping the base for the gazebo in just one day. The frame will be easiest to make from a metal profile - a corner, a square or a pipe, by welding structural elements with a welding machine.

Plastic bottles are strung on metal rods, which are then placed between the lower and upper frames of the frame. An important condition for the formation of a harmonious structure is the selection of bottles of the same shape and size, while the color can be varied - this will give the gazebo a unique flavor.

The material on creating decorations and crafts for the garden from plastic bottles will also be useful:

Option # 2 - glass bottle gazebo

In addition to plastic bottles, another non-traditional material for construction can be glass containers, which can be purchased for almost nothing at recycling centers.

Art Nouveau garden arbor with flowing forms and plenty of glass, vividly reminiscent of the famous Gaudí gardens

So, we are building a gazebo from glass bottles. The principle of building a building is the same as that of a brick - the bottles are stacked in rows, which are fastened together with cement mortar.

Having splashed out your imagination, combining glass bottles of various shapes and colors, you can build an unusual gazebo both outside and inside.

The bottles are located with the bottoms outward, and the necks - inside the structure. Given that the bottles are difficult to dock at the corners of the building, they can be used to lay out individual fragments of the walls, giving the structure an unusual sound - iridescent glass surfaces will sparkle in the sun like a crystal.

Option # 3 - construction from old tree trunks

An interesting and fairly economical option for a gazebo for a summer residence can be a building using the trunks and branches of old trees.

In the garden there are always obsolete trees that have already ceased to bear fruit and require sawing. Removing logs is often difficult and expensive, but don't be in a hurry to get rid of fruit wood - it has beautiful trunk curves and texture, which makes it an excellent building material.

The trunk and branches can be cleaned of bark, which, when crushed, is also useful on the farm - it can be sprinkled with bushes of plants prone to freezing in winter. The trunk of the tree will be used to create support columns, and large branches - for fencing, railings and balusters. Most likely, one tree will not be enough, you will need two, or maybe three trunks to form four columns with a height of 2.5 m or more.

The twisted trunks of old trees with knots and a raw surface, used to build a gazebo, give it the appearance of a forest hut.

For the construction of this colorful gazebo, not only the trunk of the tree was used, but also the stumps used to create the columnar foundation

Wooden columns are fixed at the corner points of the columnar foundation and fixed with the help of the lower and upper trim of the timber. It is desirable to treat old wood with moisture-resistant primers, as well as open it with varnish to give the desired color and protect it from further drying out. A logical continuation of the style decision of the forest “hut on chicken legs” will be a roof made of plant materials - shingles or reed mats.

Option # 4 - from cement mortar

An unusual solution for a garden can be the construction of a gazebo using ordinary cement mortar. The most difficult thing in this variant of the arrangement is the creation of a rigid frame from reinforcement, chain-link mesh or ready-made reinforcing structures that need to be bent and welded. At the stage of preparing the frame, you can turn to specialized specialists, and then give free rein to your imagination.

An unusual tented gazebo made of stone and cement mortar resembles a bizarre piece of rock that blends seamlessly into the forest landscape

Having prepared the solution closer to thick, you need to gradually, in small portions, throw it on the reinforcing structure, and after drying, form the bizarre shapes of the columns and walls of the gazebo. With the help of the solution, you can imitate the trunks of intertwined trees, lianas, fantastic plant forms, creating the image of an exotic plant, as if invented by nature itself.

On hot summer days, a gazebo in the depths of the garden near a murmuring waterfall will give you the long-awaited coolness and solitude.

Such a design can also take on fantastic unearthly forms, resembling a spaceship, if metal parts are used or the reinforcing cage is fragmentarily exposed. The roof in this case should be made of metal or plastic - corrugated board or transparent polycarbonate will do.

Option # 5 - from reed mats and vines

A wonderful decoration of a pond, lake or artificial swamp on your site will be garden structures made of reeds, reeds, vines.

A great solution for a gazebo is the use of natural materials such as reeds and vines.

From these plant materials, both walls in the form of wicker weaving and the roof, which is a plane made of ready-made reed or reed mats, can be made. Such a building will naturally merge with the natural environment, especially with water, because reeds and reeds are traditional inhabitants of this environment.

A gazebo on the shore of a reservoir with a reed roof is an example of a harmonious combination of landscape design with the environment

The use of such plants with a hollow stem for construction is the key to a comfortable microclimate in the gazebo - balanced humidity, protection from heat and effective ventilation.

Option # 6 - "live" gazebo for the garden

Looking around your garden plot, you may ask yourself how to make a gazebo without introducing any other elements into the landscape of the garden, except for plants. The most affordable, but at the same time, the most time-consuming solution would be to create a structure only with the help of plants - trees or shrubs.

Specially shaped and trimmed crowns of trees create original roofs for garden arbors

Such an interesting design does not require complex construction preparation in the form of a foundation, frame and roof, as it consists only of specially grown species of dwarf, undersized or weeping tree-like plants. Various types of willow, mountain ash, willow are planted, most often, in a circle. The trunks and crowns of such plants are formed and directed, as they grow, in the right direction - to the center, creating a vegetative roof of the gazebo.

Openwork frames of arbors in combination with climbing plants give garden landscapes completeness and harmony.

Such a gazebo will naturally fit into the landscape design of the site and will be a shady place to relax on a sunny open lawn in front of the house. The only thing is that the creation of such a plant composition will require a lot of patience and time. A simpler option for a “living” structure can be planting - grapes, ivy, roses along the outer perimeter of its frame, formed from a wooden beam, metal profile or trusses. In this case, it is important to achieve complete concealment of the structure in the thickets, so that the impression of its absence is created.

A bright accent that adorned the garden gazebo on a solemn day can be “clusters” of balloons imitating grapes

Option # 7 - from wooden pallets

An extraordinary solution is the use of euro-pallets made of wood for arranging walls. Such wooden pallets, painted in bright colors, will not only create an original flavor, but will also be a good solution for walls - environmentally friendly, contributing to good air access to the interior of the gazebo.

If you buy ready-made - how not to be mistaken?

An analysis of 10 popular mistakes when choosing a finished gazebo can be viewed in the video above.

Good day to all!

Today we will talk about such an element of country decor for relaxation as a gazebo.

Sooner or later, each owner of a summer cottage, in addition to planting worries and caring for plants, thinks about a comfortable stay. The house on the lot is good. However, if it is hot in summer, then sitting in the "four walls" is not very pleasant. And here the gazebo comes to the rescue.

This element is very convenient: both the roof over your head and the fresh air are practically open. And if you install a barbecue in such a gazebo, then the rest will be doubly pleasant.

But, if you decide to install a gazebo on your site and don’t know where to start, then in this article we will analyze all the features of this design.

In the beginning, let's decide what gazebos are.

Open gazebos (standard and common option) - easy to erect, used for summer holidays;

Closed gazebos are solid structures with walls, doors and windows. Used in both summer and winter;

Portable gazebos are seasonal collapsible structures that can be easily dismantled and installed anywhere.

As for the material of manufacture, there can be the most, most diverse options. Classic and, at times, standard wood, brick and metal with the use of plastic, glass and stone, as well as many so-called improvised materials: plastic bottles, wooden pallets, tree trunks, etc.

Simple and inexpensive gazebos with your own hands (photos and drawings)

So, you have decided to build a gazebo. Where to begin? And it's best to start with a general plan of how your gazebo will look like. Either it is an open summer structure, or a closed gazebo for use in a colder period. The choice of material and its quantity depend on this.

In addition, based on the gazebo option, you plan whether it will be with an earthen floor, or whether you are making a wooden flooring. Also, you are determined by the size of your building. It all depends on your capabilities and the size of your site. You can make a small 3x3 m (if you need a square one), or you can grow it the size of a good country house.

Here we will consider a simple design that can be installed without significant costs and in a fairly short time. For example, a gazebo of such a tent type:

You can have it as a rectangular shape with two and four-pitched roofs:

and polygonal shape (six or eight). Below is a drawing of such a gazebo.

The main material for its construction will be wood.

We start by choosing a site, removing all vegetation, turf and tamping well. After that, we move on to the foundation. Supports for the lower trim can be made using either ready-made concrete blocks, or made of bricks, or logs of the same size can be used.

We make the distance between the supports no more than 1.5-2 meters. Basically, it depends on the thickness of the timber from which the strapping is made. For example, under a beam of 100 * 100 mm, such a distance will be 1.5 meters, and under a metal profile pipe 60 * 60 mm - 2 meters.

After installing the supports, put the bottom trim on them. The strapping beam is fastened either with nails from 150 mm or with self-tapping screws. You can also use corners to secure the ligament.

And in this version of the gazebo, a gap is left between the lower guides, where the racks are inserted, fixed with corners.

After that, in the same way, we put the upper strapping. And we cover the floor with a board. The main thing is that the floor boards must be treated with antibacterial impregnation for wood.

Now let's move on to the roof. The installation option depends on which type you have chosen. If you are making a simple gable or flat roof, then you can use these triangles:

If you have a roof with a more complex configuration, like this one:

then, accordingly, when installing the top trim, you plan the mount for such a roof.

All work is completed, and the frame of your gazebo is ready. Now it remains only to sheathe it with suitable material. If you decide that your gazebo will be entirely made of wood, then both the walls and the roof are also sheathed with wood. Basically, this is a lining, which can later be either painted or just processed. You can make a roof either from soft tiles, or from a metal profile.

Below I will give a few more drawings of a simple wooden gazebo.

And here are the design options, in my opinion, quite original and not very complicated in execution.

A gazebo with a barbecue for a summer residence - an inexpensive project with a photo

As mentioned earlier, the brazier installed in the gazebo makes the rest very attractive, especially if you are gathering with friends. There are two ways to make a gazebo with a barbecue. In the first option, you put a barbecue in a ready-made gazebo, and in the second option, you install a gazebo over the barbecue. It all depends on what you already have.

Below are a few drawings of such arbors.

And the following photos show options for gazebos with barbecues.

If you are making both a barbecue and a gazebo at the same time, then when installing the lower harness of the gazebo, do not forget to dig a foundation for the barbecue in the chosen place of the gazebo.

Project of a gazebo with barbecue and barbecue

Basically, a gazebo with barbecue and barbecue is no different from the previous options. The difference is only in the design of the furnace itself. Or is it just a brazier, or together with a barbecue.

If you install a stove in the gazebo, then the gazebo itself is best built of brick for fire safety. An example of diagrams of such arbors is shown below.

You can also make a gazebo from wrought iron, such as this option:

There are a lot of different options for gazebos, the main thing is to choose what you like and where it would be cozy and comfortable.

Good luck with your building and design!

Further activities that you will carry out in the gazebo will depend on the location of the structure. That is why it is not advisable to install it in an open place, because it will be very hot and stuffy inside - it is best to choose a small area in the shade of a tree. If your site has a small pond or fountain, you can start building there. The simplest gazebos for summer cottages are built of wood - it is about the creation of such a structure that we will talk today.

It is very important to prepare the material for a long service life if you do not want the gazebo to fall apart after several winters.. So, it is advisable to cover wooden beams to create supports from below with impregnation against decay and wrap them with roofing material and film so that the tree does not rot. And boards for sheathing are pre-treated with drying oil or mastic, which protect the material from rotting and attack by pests.

The simplest do-it-yourself gazebo - instructions and construction steps

Undoubtedly, you can purchase a ready-made design, but it will come out quite expensive. Moreover, the construction of the gazebo, which we will tell you about, will take you a maximum of a week! The main thing is to do everything according to the rules.

Interior decoration: how to decorate a place of rest?

Knowing how to build a simple gazebo, you can begin to work. However, upon completion, you will find that something is missing inside. Finishing the construction will help you interior decoration. From the inside, the beams should also be sheathed with plywood or drywall sheets, which are pasted over with wallpaper or painted on top. For reliability, the laid floor can be closed with linoleum, which does not allow water to pass through.

Each owner has a wood saw that is convenient to work with. The good old Druzhba is ideal, the only negative is that you need 1 more auxiliary worker so as not to spend all day preparing materials. It is also desirable to have some kind of vehicle that can carry a large number of branches and tree trunks. Trolley, car trailer, comfortable wheelbarrow - your choice. The props are ready, starting work.

Step 1 We saw landing.

"So it's illegal!" you say. In fact, we do not need green trees, and nature must be protected, no matter how. We go to the forest for dry trunks and trees - there will be more benefits from them, and we will not bring harm to the environment. The ideal time for a “walk” is after a good hurricane. Then all poorly standing and dryish trees will take a horizontal position, and wet wood will remain in its proper form. We take a saw and extract 25 trunks with a diameter of 20 centimeters and a length of 3 m(more, depending on what kind of gazebo you want).

Step 2 Wood processing.

We clean the “prey” from the bark, leave it on the street to dry out (if necessary) for 10-15 days. You can not dry it - there will not be much difference, since it is intended for the floor anyway, fluctuations in its density will in no way affect the quality of installation or durability.

Step 3 Laying.

We will need 8 cinder blocks and several meters of strong wire or rope. Cinder blocks are our concrete foundation. Its length is 40 centimeters, which means we take it, dig a hole of 70 centimeters, pour small gravel on the bottom. Now we lower the cinder block vertically, immediately put another on it, cover it with earth. As a result, we get a strong column that peeks out of the ground by 15-25 centimeters. We put 2 trunks between the columns, which are closely located (the width of the gazebo), and 2 along between the cinder blocks, we connect everything with wire into a “square”. Now we wind or nail other trunks along, choosing the most suitable side of the log.

Building a gazebo with your own hands will be much cheaper if you do not treat the logs with anti-corrosion mixtures, the cost of which bites. It is best to simply limit the moisture to the wood, raise it higher from the ground and choose a material with the most resins. The floor will last at least 15 years.

Columns and framing

Now we will look at how to build a gazebo with our own hands without the high cost of columns and crates. Although, here you still have to spend some money. You need to buy a level and a wooden beam 50x50 mm. You can traditionally make a crate of branches, but it does not have a very neat appearance, and it is better to resort to such measures as a last resort.

Step 1 We put up columns.

For this, a ready-made trunk, which remained after the manufacture of the floor, is suitable for us. We just put it in the corner, grab it with nails to the floor so that it doesn’t stagger, and we do this with all 4 columns. We tie the harness. A 10x2 cm board and a long equal side of the gazebo are suitable for her. We fix the first one at a height of 80 centimeters, the second - 200 cm, while the column should be 250 cm.

Step 2 Crate.

It's easy to make. You will need a wooden beam to make logs (the width between them should not exceed 100 centimeters). Every 50 centimeters we fill the crossbars and drill 4-5 mm holes in them for the subsequent threading of the wire.

Step 3 We open with varnish.

The crossbars must be treated with any anti-corrosion mixture, since moisture in small quantities can often get on them. The service life will be significantly reduced.

The construction of arbors can be even cheaper if you use ordinary trunks 5-6 cm thick instead of purchased logs, but it is very difficult to work with them. It is necessary to pick up perfectly even branches so that the roof is as neat as possible in appearance and does not mow anywhere.

Building a roof

Before you make a gazebo with your own hands, you need to think about what the roof will be made of. You can fold it from almost any material, even roofing material, but everything needs money. There are several more free options, one of which is reeds. Your gazebo will look in the old Russian style, and its appearance will be very spectacular. It is this option that we will now consider.

Step 1 We are preparing the material.

Let's say the dimensions of your gazebo are 3x3 meters, which means that the reeds need to be mined about 190 centimeters long(distance per slope + ledge). There is a lot of such goodness near each reservoir, we take a pruner and go to harvest the material. We select only straight stems.

Step 2 Binding.

If we build a gazebo with our own hands in good conscience, we must do everything “in a bookish way” so that the surface does not leak. We wind each stem with a fishing line, and make sure that the direction of the leaves is in one direction. The ideal thickness of a "briquette" of reeds is 3-4 stalks, although, with tight binding, even 2 stalks are enough.
