The Samsung phone connects to Wi-Fi. Samsung Cell Phones with Wi-Fi - Prices

In this short instruction I will show you how you can share the Internet via Wi-Fi from a Samsung phone. I had the opportunity to write instructions using the example of a Samsung Galaxy J5 smartphone, with the new Android 7.0 Nougat system already installed. The same as on Samsung Galaxy S8 and other models. I think this article will be relevant for a long time and will be useful to many. In fact, setting up the Hotspot and tethering feature on Android 7.0 is very simple, just like on other versions and devices. But many users still have questions about this function.

We will distribute mobile Internet via Wi-Fi network to other devices. It will be possible to connect other smartphones, laptops, TVs and other devices. We will have a Samsung phone as a router. In the “Access point and modem” settings you can also distribute the Internet via Bluetooth and even via a USB cable. Via Bluetooth is not very relevant now, but via cable it might come in handy. For example, if you need Internet on a desktop computer that does not have . You can use your phone as a wired modem to access the Internet through your mobile operator.

Note! Since we will be distributing mobile Internet, I advise you to clarify the terms of your tariff plan. What is your megabyte limit and what is the fee over the limit. Devices connected to the hotspot may siphon all traffic and additional charges may apply.

Some operators block the distribution of the Internet to other devices. Therefore, there is an option that it may not be possible to share the Internet.

Let's start setting up the access point.

Internet distribution via Wi-Fi from a Samsung phone

Open the top curtain. If your mobile Internet is disabled, then turn on "Mobile data" and go to settings. In settings, open the "Connections" section.

Next, open the “Access point and modem” section. We turn on Wi-Fi distribution with the switch opposite the “Mobile access point” item. The status "Enabled" should appear. If you have Wi-Fi turned on, the phone will prompt you to turn it off.

If you noticed, there is an option to activate Bluetooth modem and USB modem.

Our Samsung already distributes a Wi-Fi network to which we can connect our devices. By default, the smartphone itself sets the network name (AndroidAP) and password. To view and change them, as well as view the list of connected devices, just click on the “Mobile access point” item itself.

The network name and password can be changed if desired. Just click on them and change. The password must be at least 8 characters long and the network name must be in English letters.

I connected my Windows 10 laptop to the Wi-Fi network provided by the Samsung Galaxy J5. The device immediately appeared in the list of connected devices. If you click on it, you can see some information, or change the device name.

In my case, the Internet on my laptop via a Samsung smartphone worked immediately and without problems. In the screenshots above, you probably noticed that I only get 2G (EDGE). Of course, using such Internet on a computer is not very pleasant. But now there is very good 3G/4G coverage, and everything flies there. Even if you distribute the Internet to several devices at the same time.

If you plan to use the mobile hotspot function somewhere outdoors, then I advise you to take a power bank with you, since mobile Internet paired with an access point will very quickly drain the battery of your smartphone. I also advise you to disable this function when you do not need it. Well, keep an eye on your traffic consumption and the terms of your tariff plan. So as not to receive a “terrible” bill for mobile Internet later.

Leave all questions and suggestions in the comments. Best wishes!

Description:
One of the most popular data transfer options today is Wi-Fi. A phone equipped with this function will no longer surprise anyone, nor will it puzzle anyone with the process of setting it up. All Internet users are able to cope with this on their own. Of course, today you can use wifi in almost any public institution. Most cafes, restaurants, various clubs, hotels, educational institutions and libraries offer their clients free access to the network, but it is still much more convenient to have your own.
Of course, millions of users prefer free Wi-Fi, but your own hotspot is safer. Besides security, there are a few other facts you need to know when choosing Wi-Fi. So, by connecting wifi to your phone, you can use it as a laptop or computer, and get access to games, programs and applications from anywhere in your apartment. In addition, constant access to the Internet will allow the Android OS to perform automatic updates. At the same time, battery costs for wifi are significantly less than for LTE, 3G or 4G.
How to connect wifi to your phone?

There are several ways to connect wifi to your phone:
1. to the router.
2. to an open access point.
3. to a personal hotspot.
In this case, the option with a router or an open access point does not suit us, so we opt for the third option. Of course, neighbor Wi-Fi is good, but not always possible.
To do this you need to take several steps:
1. Go to the “Settings” menu and select “Wireless Networks”, after making sure that the phone does not work in offline mode or in “airplane mode”.
2. Go to Wi-Fi settings.
3. Select yours in the list of networks and enter the access code.
4. In the “Additional functions” menu, set all the necessary additional settings for a specific network.
After this, the device will automatically connect to your Wi-Fi network.
How to connect Wi-Fi on Samsung?
Of course, there are some features of setting up a wireless connection on different models of mobile phones. So, to connect Wi-Fi to Samsung, you need to follow these steps:
1. Go to the phone menu and select the “Settings” or “Control Panel” option.
2. Next select “Settings”.
3. In “Settings”, select the sub-item “General settings” or “Connection”.
4. In the drop-down list of connections, select the “Wi-Fi” or “Wireless Connections” option.
5. After this, several sub-items will appear on the screen. Of these, we are interested in “Checking Internet connection” and “Show available Wi-Fi points”.
6. By going to the last one (“Show available Wi-Fi points”), you can indicate “Yes” or “No”. The “No” option means that Wi-Fi will be turned off until you need to go online. The “Yes” option will open another “Network Scan” option for you. This function allows you to receive information about the presence of Wi-Fi points in the surrounding area at a specified frequency. This can be an interval of 1, 2, 5 or 10 minutes.
7. Going to the “Internet connection check” item, set “automatic start”. Although the device will offer you other options, this one is preferable.
8. Go to the “Menu” of the phone, select “Communication”, and in it “Wi-Fi Master”. Now your device will scan the space and provide information about the presence of points.
After reading this article, you can independently set up Wi-Fi on Samsung and any other phone.

The phone is simply super (no wonder it was called Star). I really liked the phone! I was choosing between Samsung Corby, Nokia 5800 and Samsung Star. Corby has a small screen and is very quiet, Nokia crashed when I first turned on the widgets and is also quiet, Star showed top performance! It is not buggy and loud. It's very easy to understand! Wi-Fi reception is just Mmm-ah!

This is my first time with Samsung and I haven’t even read the book, everything is intuitive. The colors are bright, rich, it’s easy to work with photographs, zoom in, move around the picture. The battery holds up well.

I'm completely satisfied with the phone, the price is reasonable! 2 covers included (one with a case), stylus, simple and easy to use, good battery.

Large clear screen, in applications there is always virtual keyboard, in messages the keyboard interacts with the accelerometer, I was in water-based paint (paint) and in water after paint it lagged for a week and then stopped)) the video does not lag (like for example in the LG gs290 cookie fresh) photo contacts are not such a necessary thing... the camera is cool in normal lighting, in the dark and twilight it is almost blind or does not shoot clearly, there is a panorama, frames. filming in fragments in different orders, filming in motion is quite good for 3.2, filming video seems to be even more than 15 frames/s everything is very smooth without any problems, it can parse sudden movements, you can password-protect My files, notes, call log, contacts, SMS, FSE, in general, you don’t need to knock on the screen enough easy to touch and feel when printing, I recommend using corners

The phone attracted me with its design - elegant, pink, nothing superfluous) Bright colors, convenient menu, widgets) I can’t get enough of handwriting input, it’s convenient to use ICQ! I change phones every six months, but I like this one so much that I think I’ll have it for a long time! The sound is good. Wi-Fi! Comfortable to hold in your hands. The charging is powerful, and that’s what makes me happy the most! I immediately bought a protective film, which I advise you to do. I don’t use a stylus at all, it’s more convenient with my fingers (another one + a phone). For this price I expected a lot less) I don’t use a camera, so I don’t think it’s important to have a decent camera on your phone! For this, you still have to have a camera!

    Appearance. ease of use. Wi-Fi...

Convenient, shock-proof (it was dropped often), beautiful bright display, excellent and high-quality voice recorder, good photos, plenty of alarms, long battery life, excellent sound, no noise wherever you stand.

very decent build quality, convenient intuitive menu, responsive touch screen, acceptable audio player and photo quality (for me), excellent work with Wi-Fi and bluethooth, good radio reception.

Excellent build quality - Nice design - Convenient, well-thought-out menu, widgets - Light weight - Excellent screen: rich, rich colors - Price

In my opinion, there is only one drawback! Sometimes the sensor glitches... it is pressed either with braking or with a shift!

    2 years ago 0

The screen gets scratched after two weeks without a protective screen (it’s better) to buy it right away. Well, that's all.

    2 years ago 0

There is no flash drive included, it’s very rare, but the sensor still doesn’t work, it’s not a very convenient program for a computer. Since I often use a phone camera, I’ll say: it’s a pity that the photo button works without pressing - I pressed everything, be sure to take a photo, the camera and photos don’t work well at night, there’s no flash.
Sometimes, it’s funny, but still, you want it to be not symmetrical: you take it out of your pocket (Murphy’s law) with your legs upside down))).

The headphones have the feeling that they will soon come loose, it’s good that I had headphones from another Samsung at home with the same input!
The lid is a bit tight, I still haven’t learned how to open it!
I like the menu design of U 600 and its menu in general, but I’m already used to it!
I use one desk, because... I install ordinary pictures, changing their size and it turns out that the first and third slave table with a black picture, but I don’t need them.

    2 years ago 0

The background image is divided equally into 3 tables, so either look for triples or just a suitable one.
When viewing photos through the camera (taken) without zooming, you can scroll through and play with the accelerometer.
if you have 500 songs on your phone you will have to scroll in the right direction 90 times
a bunch of useless widgets, you can remove them through the settings
not a good random in the player (often repeated)
the built-in browser soon offers to download the application)) itself, it’s not very convenient, so download Opera Mini
    no video editor((
    and audio too((
When the player is turned on in the menu there is a little lag. (in the “cookie”, for example, you can’t listen to music or play the application at all) but here, accordingly, you can

The headphone jack is non-standard, after a year the sensor broke (I made it myself), and that’s about it...

    2 years ago 0

For me, the main drawback is the wallpaper; it’s not convenient to put on 3 desktops! And the sensor is very sensitive, maybe this is good, but I always end up in the wrong place... although I still need to get used to it!

    2 years ago 0

The panel and screen get scratched quickly. after a year of use. the sensor (so dead) starts to lag... in general, a lot of not very pleasant things

    2 years ago 0

After 4 years of use, the screen has worn out (the glass needs to be replaced), sometimes it glitches (it’s about time).

lack of a 3.5" headphone jack, preferably a more capacious battery (1500 mah), average quality headphones.

Many modern models of smartphones and tablets do not require additional configuration. Almost everything is ready to go, all that remains is to synchronize the data: numbers, music, photos, etc.

To connect to the Internet, as a rule, you need to use either a mobile or Wi-fi connection.

In the latter case, you just need to find the one you need and enter the password for it. The only exception is the open network. After this, the user can fully use the Internet.

However, the settings may be confused or simply not set by default yet. Accordingly, you need to edit the properties for everything to work.

Preliminary measures

You don’t always need to blame everything on a non-working Wi-Fi module or just a parameter failure.

First of all, check if the Wi-Fi you want to connect to works on other devices. Additionally, try also joining another connection.

If your smartphone doesn’t connect at all, although everything is fine on the other device, then you should try setting up Wi-Fi yourself.

If it is the router that is not working, you need to check the configuration via your smartphone. Let's take a closer look at this.

Settings on your mobile device

In this case, you need to go to the settings in the Wi-fi section and scroll through the entire list of networks available for connection to the end. Then click on the “Add network” panel.

The following is required for connection:

  • enter a name;
  • specify the security type;
  • save the connection.

If you are not sure about the security type, it is better to double-check. Otherwise it will be impossible to connect. This setting must be the same on all devices.

Most modern smartphones support security types such as WEP, WPA/WPA2 PSK, 802.1x EAP, WAPI PSK, WAPI CERT.

DHCP

This is a special network protocol. Thanks to it, users can connect third-party devices. They automatically receive all the necessary information for working in a TCP/IP network.

If DHCP is disabled, then your device cannot receive data from the network, and therefore you cannot access the Internet either.

This protocol must be configured in the router itself. If it is disabled, then there are two options: either you enable it, or work without it.

In the second case, go to Settings, to the Wi-fi section and look at the advanced settings.

They will have the following parameters:

  • proxy server;
  • IP address;
  • change password
  • static IP.

It is the last parameter that is needed to restore the connection. Turn it on and enter the details of the network you are connecting to:

  • IP address - the address of your device. Typically, it is in the range from 192.168.0.100 to 192.168.0.199. However, there may be other options depending on the router configuration.
  • gateway - the main route for communication with other gateways. Used in TCP/IP. The gateway determines the ability to access the Internet. In most cases, you can find out by looking at the information on the bottom of the router or by contacting your provider;
  • network mask - bit mask. Also required for connection. Most often it comes in the format 255.255.255.0. More precisely, you can look in your settings on your computer. Having opened information about the network, one of the fields should indicate a mask.
  • DNS 1, DNS 2 - DNS is a special service that connects you to a specific resource. That is, you enter the site address, and the DNS server processes it and recognizes what IP this resource has. This way you can move from site to site. In addition, there is a primary and secondary DNS. When setting up a connection, you can use public servers from Google: 8.8.8.8. and 8.8.4.4.

If you don't know the information you need, you can look it up on your computer. To do this, you need to go to the connection properties. You can also call your operator or find an agreement with your provider; these parameters may be indicated on it.

After filling in the fields, save the changes and connect again. In most cases, everything starts to work. Otherwise, check the functionality of the Wi-fi module or router.

Set up Wi-Fi via phone

You need to understand the configuration on the router not only if there are any problems.

For many users, only this method of setting up a router is suitable due to the lack of a laptop or regular computer. To do this, just launch the browser on your smartphone.

As a rule, in addition, you should open the instructions for your router. If you don’t have it in stock, you should download it via the mobile Internet.

Also, before setting up, make sure that you have connected the wire correctly and also turned on the router to the power supply.

After activating the Wi-fi network on your device, go to the list of available connections.

Connecting to the router from a smartphone

The list should contain a router with the name of the manufacturer and product code number. Connect to this device. As a rule, it does not have a password, but if the network asks for one, reset the router to factory settings.

You can reset the router by pressing the Reset button (red on some models) and holding it for 30 seconds. Then unplug the device and turn it on again.

Then go to the browser on your smartphone and write 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1 in the line, enter your login and password.

For unconfigured routers, these parameters are admin. Then configure the WAN connection. Don't forget to save these settings.

Then check your Internet access. You should not immediately enter a new name and come up with a password for the router. You need to make sure that the device itself is working. Try visiting a website via Wi-Fi.

If the connection is working, we proceed to setting up Wi-Fi security. To do this the user will need:

  • come up with a network name;
  • set a password.

Enter this and save your changes.

In some routers, when you change any configuration, the router temporarily freezes or completely interrupts the connection. This happens because the network starts working according to different settings, and the smartphone needs time to reconnect.

If the phone does not want to connect, then go to Settings, to the Wi-fi section. There, click on the name of your connection and select “Forget”. Then simply log in again using your password.

Change password

Read also:

In addition to the usual settings, you can change the password of an existing Internet connection via your smartphone. This procedure is also carried out through a browser. Similarly to the previous method, log in to the router configuration by going to the authorization page.

Advice! If admin as a login and password does not suit you, turn the router over. The back side should contain your login details.

Next, go to “Security Mode” and decide on the security type - you need WPA/WPA2. Then enter the password for the network key. You can come up with anything. However, as a rule, you need to use the Latin alphabet.

The most secure passwords contain uppercase, lowercase, and symbols. You should not use the name of the street and apartment, as well as your first and last name; this data may be available to your friends or neighbors, they will be able to connect to your network without your permission.

Since mid-November 2016, MTS subscribers in the capital region have received an extremely useful opportunity to receive calls on their smartphone and make calls from it where the mobile network signal is weak or even completely absent - in basements, shops and shopping centers, on long-distance trains and in the subway. The new Wi-Fi Calling feature makes regular calls available when connected to any Wi-Fi point.

It’s also a science for me: launch almost any messenger and call. Is not it so?

In most cases, when calling through a messenger, communication can only take place with those who have an application installed for the same messenger. In addition, you will miss all calls from those who dial your mobile number. Unless of course you are using .

It seems that we are still talking about some kind of application?

No. Wi-Fi Calling is supported by the smartphone itself; no programs need to be installed. You only need to enable Wi-Fi Calling on your gadget and connect to Wi-Fi.

Enabling Wi-Fi Calling

If everything is already turned on, the availability of calls via Wi-Fi can be judged by the icon in the status bar.

Wi-Fi Calling Availability

Is it difficult to call through WiFi ?

No. You make and receive calls as usual. In this case, calls made via Wi-Fi are marked in the call history. It doesn’t matter whether your potential interlocutor has Wi-Fi Calling.

Calls via Wi-Fi Calling in call history

And how much does it cost?

You pay for calls as usual, at your home rate.

And abroad?

As a bonus for its subscribers, MTS does not restrict calls via Wi-Fi abroad in any way until November 2017. Their cost will be no different from a call through a Wi-Fi point at your home.

How do calls occur that are made while the cellular network is available and WiFi ?

This is something you decide for yourself in advance. Set the priority of any of the connections, and all calls with a “double” connection will be made as you specify. If no selection is made, calls are made via Wi-Fi.

Setting Call Priority via Wi-Fi Calling

Which smartphones support the new feature?

At launch, in November 2016, owners of the Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 edge will be able to take advantage of the ability to make calls via Wi-Fi. However, the list of supported models will constantly expand.

WiFi Is calling a service exclusively for Moscow?

MTS has just begun to implement the technology, and Moscow was chosen only as a starting region. Expansion of the geography of Wi-Fi calling is just around the corner.

What is the difference WiFi calling from MTS Connect?

- an application with rich functionality, which is especially evident when communicating between users of the program. MTS Connect, in particular, allows you to exchange files and correspond in group chats. Calls via Wi-Fi in MTS Connect are just a detail.

At the same time, Wi-Fi calling is an easier-to-use feature that, again, you just need to enable on your phone.
