Drying for clothes: we select the ideal option for the bathroom. Wall-mounted clothes dryers: an overview of modern models

A clothes dryer in the bathroom is a functional device that helps to avoid inconvenience after washing things. The practicality of the product depends on the design and material of manufacture. Information about the advantages and disadvantages of various instances, a review of popular models contributes to the competent choice of a clothes hanger suitable for the bathroom.

Varieties of clothes dryers

A rich assortment of dryers is represented by a wide range of models, among which there are the simplest devices in the form of ropes between two crossbars to technologically advanced electrical items with the ability to adjust the temperature. The designs differ in the material of manufacture, installation method, and are designed for different volumes and weights of linen. The ease of use in the bathroom largely depends on the shape and size of the dryer.

According to the installation location, the models are divided into 4 categories:

  • floor;
  • suspended on the ceiling;
  • wall;
  • located on the sides of the bath.

When choosing a dryer in the bathroom, it is the installation method that plays a decisive role.

Floor copies

The floor structure for linen is chosen in a spacious bathroom. Most often, a floor-type dryer is made in the form of a folding frame equipped with metal rods or strings. In the unfolded state, the design is rather bulky, but it is these dimensions that allow you to hang a large amount of laundry.

When folded, the model is extremely compact, with a thickness of around 10 cm, so it can easily fit between the wall and the washing machine. With a dead weight of no more than 4 kg, wet laundry weighing about 20 kg can be hung on the dryer.

Typically, the range of products is represented by horizontal structures, but there are also multi-tiered products that resemble whatnots. Folding clothes hangers for comfortable movement are often equipped with wheels.

Advantages of floor models:

  • durability;
  • simple operation;
  • a light weight;
  • large capacity of linen;
  • no need to install additional fixtures in the bathroom.

The only drawback is the bulkiness of the design, which will not fit into every bathroom, and it will be difficult for her to find a place in a small apartment.

wall products

Much more practical in the bathroom is a wall-mounted dryer, which is produced in 3 modifications:

Comment! Accordion fasteners require careful handling. With prolonged use or excessive load, the mechanism can fail.

Suspended ceiling structures

The bathroom can be equipped with a ceiling dryer, which, in terms of design features, is similar to wall models. The crossbars of the ceiling models are adjustable in height, so hanging clothes is not a hassle. Each crossbar moves independently of the other elements. Typically, ceiling dryers are installed above the bathroom to avoid puddles from wet laundry on the floor.

Positive aspects of installing a ceiling dryer in the bathroom:

  • Linen weighs compactly and takes up little free space.
  • The small sizes provide to the dryer esthetic appearance.
  • Comfortable operation.

The complexity of installation is a key drawback of suspended models. Special attention should be paid to the fastening strength so that the structure in the bathroom does not break under the weight of the hanging linen.

The best place for installation is a bathroom with high ceilings.

Bath fixtures

The dryer consists of a light frame with stretched strings or thin tubes. Structures are solid and folding. Some models are placed on the bath at an angle, others are fixed on the sides.

Plastic retainers prevent slipping. Scope of application - drying small items, the product is intended for drying towels, underwear or socks.

Plus the purchase of a small dryer in the bathroom:

  • light weight;
  • compactness;
  • ease of use.

There are two drawbacks - the inability to take a bath during drying and the lack of space for hanging bulky things.

Electrical Models

The high cost of electric models is not an obstacle to demand among consumers. The main purpose of purchasing an electric model is the ability to dry a thick sweater, a warm jacket or a cozy blanket in a short time. Among electric dryers, there are various models according to the method of installation. To buy a suspended, wall or floor structure for the bathroom - everyone decides based on the footage of the room.

A significant part of the dryers of the electric type is equipped with a thermostat. Advanced models allow you to choose the appropriate drying mode, taking into account the type of laundry. The timer is responsible for the duration of the work. The main characteristics of the device:

  • economical consumption of electricity;
  • no noise in the bathroom when turned on;
  • designed for drying clothes up to 15 kg;
  • operation is not difficult;
  • laundry dries evenly and quickly.
  • when folded, the design is compact.

A limitation for purchasing an electric-type dryer in the bathroom can be the high price of the product and the additional costs of electricity during use.

Features of choice

An important criterion when choosing a dryer in the bathroom is the material of manufacture. The description of the properties will give an idea of the advantages and disadvantages of each product:

  • Stainless steel. Leading in terms of quality. The design for the bathroom is durable, retains its original appearance for a long period, is able to withstand significant loads, there is no risk of getting unaesthetic stains on linen, plaque is easily removed.
  • Aluminum. Powder coating protection looks attractive, but peels off with frequent use. Exposed aluminum on the dryer causes dark marks to appear on laundry.
  • Plastic. Low cost and aesthetic appearance are the main advantages of dryers in the bath. A short period of service is a significant drawback. Plastic structures are not designed for intense loads and quickly fail under the weight of overweight linen. Over time, the surface of plastic dryers acquires a yellow tint, the strings sag.
  • Wood. Occurs when arranging a bathroom dryer infrequently. For a long service life, it is worth taking care of regular competent care. Advantages of the solution - aesthetic appearance due to the original form.

Comment! If you need to dry your laundry often, it is recommended to equip the bathroom with a more practical metal model.

In addition to the material of manufacture, when choosing dryers for the bathroom, attention is also paid to other features of the product. The durability of the structure is affected by the quality of the connections and the ease of movement of individual parts. For metal products, the density of the coating is checked to avoid the appearance of dark marks on the linen. If the base is translucent, it is better to find another option. On such an instance, the paint will quickly peel off.

The optimal gap between the strings is from 7 to 10 cm, with a closer arrangement, the linen will dry longer. The absence of sharp protrusions on the frame, roughness and traces of welding is another condition for purchasing a clothes dryer in the bathroom.

Suitable copy for purchase:

  • frame surface is smooth;
  • all elements are uniformly colored;
  • the ends of the tubes are protected by plugs;
  • the clothes dryer is supplemented with an information sheet indicating the allowable weight of the laundry, size and design;

If you are purchasing a hanging or wall-mounted bathroom dryer, check for installation instructions.

Overview of popular models

The presented small part of the widest range will help you navigate the choice of design in your own bathroom.

Dryer Gimi Rotor-6. Installation of a budget model is carried out on the wall using self-tapping screws or dowels. The product of the Italian manufacturer is suitable for small bathrooms. The exhaust design provides 6 lanes for linen, can withstand weight up to 10 kg. The length of the ropes is 3.6 m, after drying they take up their original position automatically.

The Liana dryer, which is mounted on the ceiling, is very popular. The simple design is equipped with 5 strings, which can be individually adjusted. The permissible load per 1 lane reaches 2.5 kg, the length of the models varies from 1.3 to 2.0 m.

Siena folding floor construction will suit the owners of a spacious bathroom. The clothes dryer includes 3 drying zones. Light weight of 2 kg and capacity are the key advantages of the model. 18 rods will help to hang a large amount of laundry, which will withstand a total load of up to 20 kg. Unassembled dimensions 55/112/180 cm. The dryer folds quickly, after which it becomes compact and can be stored in any convenient place.

Among the electric models, Alcona SBF-A4-FX deserves attention. Mounted on the ceiling with anchor bolts. The electronic control unit, the presence of a disinfecting UV lamp makes its operation extremely functional. Minimum power 120W. The presented electric dryer can withstand the weight of wet laundry 30 kg, the total length of the tubes is 8.2 m.

There are many devices for drying clothes. Functional and compact dryers can be installed anywhere, but most often a clothes dryer and a towel rack are installed in the bathroom. After all, here the hung laundry is not in sight, and the ventilation system contributes to the speedy drying. Even for a small room, there is an option for a bathroom dryer - a wall-mounted model.

The wall-mounted dryer does not take up much space, as it is installed on the wall, and the foldable model is almost invisible when assembled, and drying of small items of clothing can even take place on the assembled equipment. In this article, we will consider the types of wall-mounted dryers, analyze their pros and cons, describe the features of their choice, placement and installation, and also tell you how to assemble a wall-mounted clothes dryer in the bathroom with your own hands.

The range of modern mechanisms for drying clothes is very diverse. First of all, a wide choice of shapes and types of structures catches the eye, among which there are miniature models for hanging trifles above the bathroom, and spacious folding structures on which you can place all the laundry from the washing machine, not to mention ordinary water heated towel rails.

There are several types of wall-mounted dryers on the market, which differ in the method of installation and type of construction:

Folding dryer in the bathroom- This is a modern version of a rope hanger, on which our grandmothers dried clothes for many decades. This design consists of two plastic panels that are mounted on opposite walls under the ceiling, and 4-6 ropes are stretched between them. If the ropes interfere, then one panel is removed and attached to another, and the ropes, like the cord of a modern vacuum cleaner, are automatically drawn in.

Advantages:

  • ease of installation and operation;
  • low cost;
  • possibility of installation in small rooms.

Disadvantages:

  • maximum total weight of linen - 7 kg;
  • for models without a pull-up mechanism, the ropes sag under the weight of the laundry;
  • low-quality plastic cracks over time.

Sliding dryer for the bathroom has a more intricate design. It is a metal console that moves and moves forward according to the principle of an accordion. Parts of the sliding structure are attached to the wall with reliable rivets. Linen is hung on metal tubes located between two folding elements. After the wash is dry, the device is pressed against the wall so as not to steal space.

Advantages:

  • compact design;
  • ease of use;
  • strength of parts;
  • the ability to withstand heavy weight;
  • Possibility of use as a holder for towels.

Disadvantages:

  • small dimensions of the sliding model;
  • the difficulty of drying large items;
  • budget fasteners can break during operation.

Electric hanger for the bathroom, as a rule, it is used as a heated towel rail, but if you are in a hurry, then it can also be used to dry small clothes. The principle of operation of an electric dryer is similar to a fireplace heater, and is a series of metal tubes connected to each other. The design is mounted on the wall next to the outlet. This device dries the wash much faster, but is not suitable for all types of materials.

Advantages:

  • ease of installation and dismantling;
  • the ability to disconnect from the network when not in use;
  • comfortable heating temperature of the tubes will protect against burns;
  • can be used as a heater.

Disadvantages:

  • the need to comply with safety rules when using electrical appliances in a room with high humidity;
  • small sizes are not suitable for drying bed linen and other large items.

Wall-ceiling clothes dryers in the bathroom can be attached in two ways - on opposite walls and on the ceiling. The holders are metal tubes through which 4-10 ropes are threaded. Another special rope allows you to raise and lower the holders like a blind. The main advantage is the ability to hang clothes with a total weight of up to 20 kg.

Rod dryer- this design is similar to the ceiling, but is fixed only on one of the walls. If necessary, the bars can be easily raised or lowered down to the required level. Ideal for drying woolen garments and other garments that you do not want to hang up to avoid stretching. The wool sweater is placed on the rods, which allows you to dry the clothes without hanging them.

There are also models of dryers with original design:

  • over-door - such designs are installed directly on the door in the bathroom. Hooks act as fasteners, so if necessary, the dryer can be easily removed from the door;
  • folding - easily mounted on any vertical surface. If the structures are not used for their intended purpose, then it rises and plays the role of a panel, and if necessary, it is thrown back and small linen and towels are dried on it;
  • battery - the device is fixed on the battery with several hooks and is used to dry small clothes.

Even in a small bathroom, you can attach this wall structure that imitates a window. The color scheme is easy to transform under the overall interior design of the room:

How to choose a quality dryer?

In the market of goods for the bathroom, the range of clothes dryers is regularly updated. They perform the same function, but the installation methods and production materials are changing.

The choice of design depends on how often you do laundry. If you wash your clothes often but in small batches, then it is better to choose a small console or a battery dryer. If the clothes are washed rarely, but in a large batch, then it is better to make a choice in favor of a folding or wall-ceiling model.

When choosing a design, you should also build on the dimensions of the room. The wall-mounted clothes dryer is suitable for a small bathroom. In order not to be mistaken with the sizes, when you go to the store, take a tape measure with you. It will help not only accurately measure the dimensions of the device, but also the distance between the ropes or crossbars, which should be at least 6-7 cm, otherwise it will be inconvenient to hang the wash, and it will take longer to dry.

In addition to the type of construction and its dimensions, when choosing a clothes dryer, you also need to pay attention to what material it is made of. There is high humidity in the bathroom, and the elements of the device are constantly in contact with wet clothes, so all fasteners and parts must be rust-resistant.

  1. From this point of view, the most durable designs will be stainless steel dryers. This material easily withstands heavy loads, does not oxidize and does not corrode when interacting with moisture, and has an attractive appearance.
  2. Metal dryers made of steel coated with powder dyes or enamel are also very durable, but the special coating cracks over time, and then the steel quickly becomes covered with plaque and rust due to high humidity.
  3. Aluminum structures are considered budget options for steel fixtures. They are strong enough and weigh little, but do not differ in durability, while they are intended only for drying light laundry in small batches.
  4. Plastic models for compact placement on a wall or door, despite their low strength, are in demand because they are characterized by low cost, simple design, light weight and a wide range of colors.

Another important parameter when choosing a quality clothes dryer is fittings. Loops and fastenings must be of high quality and reliable, and the strings of rope models must be smooth and durable. Choose models that include dowels and screws so that you do not have to buy them and match them to the threaded holes.

Thus, when choosing a mechanism for drying clothes, be guided by the following parameters:

  • construction type;
  • room dimensions;
  • material of manufacture;
  • quality of fittings;
  • the presence of additional features (descent-ascent, length and height adjustment);
  • maximum weight that the device can support.

The right clothes dryer will be an excellent addition to the interior of the bathroom and will serve as a good helper in the household.

Principles of placement and installation rules

When planning the installation of a wall-mounted clothes dryer in the bathroom, it is necessary to take into account some of the nuances.

In order not to test the strength of fasteners and interior partitions, choose a load-bearing wall to place the device. Then you will be sure that under the weight of wet things, the fasteners will not fall out along with the decoration and plaster of the wall.

It is also worth considering that while drying things, you will need a free approach to the bath, cabinets and plumbing. Therefore, place the mechanism so that it does not hinder your access to the essentials.

Try to place the device closer to the ventilation system, then the clothes will dry faster and the moisture will evaporate in time. Always keep an eye on the ventilation hole, cleaning it from time to time. It is good if the bathroom has a heating battery.

We also note that the dryer should not be installed next to a mirror or plumbing fixtures and chrome parts to prevent unwanted ingress of water on them.

Installation of a wall-mounted dryer should begin with choosing the most suitable location. Then follow the installation instructions for this model:

  1. Using the bracket to fix the structure, make marks for future fasteners through the through holes.
  2. According to the marks on the wall, drill holes for fasteners in it.
  3. Then, using fasteners, fix the brackets on the wall.
  4. After that, fasten the remaining parts of the dryer to the brackets, following the instructions in the assembly manual.

The device is ready for use!

How to make a clothes dryer with your own hands?

We know two ways how to independently make a device for drying clothes in the bathroom:

Method 1: rope dryer

The simplest variation of a do-it-yourself dryer is hooks and ropes located above the bathtub. Initially, it is recommended to go to a hardware store and purchase the materials we need (instead of hooks, you can use a beautiful wire or thick fishing line as an option). After all the materials we need have been purchased, proceed to marking the places where the dryer will be attached.

Mark the places where the hooks will be located: their location should be on the same line at an equal distance from each other. In the marked places, drill holes of the desired diameter, in which securely fix the hooks. From the rope, cut the required number of pieces of the desired length and pull between the hooks. And this is how we assemble the simplest dryer.

Method 2: overhead dryer

For a more complex design, more time will be required, as well as a wood tool. The dryer will be made of wooden slats with a cross section of 2 cm. Getting started, file the constituent elements of the device: you will need two bars equal to the length of the bathroom and 6-8 bars, the length of which should be equal to the width of the bathroom. The resulting bars need to be sanded.

Place elements equal to the length of the bathtub at a distance slightly less than the width of the bathtub itself and nail short bars to them. Short elements will serve as holders for linen. The distance between them must be the same so that the structure itself also has an aesthetic appearance, and not only is it reliable. The finished product can be covered with a colorless varnish or painted in a color that is in harmony with the interior of your bathroom.

Drying in the bathroom - more than a simple market overview

Fortunately, thanks to the advent of automatic washing machines, washing clothes has become easy, one might say, commonplace. But although many modern models have a drying function, experienced housewives prefer to dry things separately, using only the easy spin function. After all, after machine drying, the laundry is very difficult to iron. In this review, I will tell you what clothes dryers are for the bathroom and not only for the bathroom, and we will also talk about the criteria for choosing and installing such devices with our own hands.

What clothes dryers does the modern market offer

Naturally, for all manufacturers of this product, the main criterion is ease of use. But the dimensions of bathrooms in modern apartments can be quite different.

What is suitable for new buildings with a free layout often simply does not fit in Khrushchev. Therefore, you need to choose based on specific conditions.

Wall options

Wall-mounted drying for clothes in the bathroom is deservedly considered one of the oldest and most proven areas. At the moment, among such dryers, 2 leading models can be distinguished.

The device of the first model is technically considered more complex. Such a device is a drum with a built-in spring mechanism and latches.

Linen is hung on ropes. One end of these ropes is fixed on a monolithic bar, and the other is attached to a drum hidden in a box. In a calm state, that is, when nothing needs to be dried, the box, together with a monolithic bar, simply hangs on the wall.

To bring such a dryer into working condition, you need to take a monolithic bar and, together with the ropes, hook it onto a pair of brackets mounted on the opposite wall. At this time, the drum will spin, releasing the ropes to the desired length.

When the bar catches on the brackets, the spring mechanism will ensure a stable tension of the ropes, and so that they do not sag under load, the drum will need to be fixed with special stoppers, thereby ensuring a stable position for it.

In view of its compactness, this model is quite popular. Such dryers from good manufacturers are able to withstand up to 12 - 15 kg of wet laundry weight. But these devices have 2 weak points. Firstly, if you constantly “pull” the ropes, they wear out pretty quickly, although this is not so scary, after all, they can be replaced.

Worse, the spring mechanism that tightens the ropes and locking latches is actually under constant load, and if the manufacturer installed low-quality springs with plastic latches, then such drying will not last long. As far as I know, cheap models break down within the first year of operation.

The second type of wall-mounted dryers is the so-called cantilever telescopic or, more simply, retractable dryers. They are made of metal strips and tubes. Unlike the first option, console fixtures are attached to only one wall and do not have any springs and latches.

In my opinion, the only significant advantage that such devices can boast of is their compactness; when folded, such a dryer will definitely not interfere with you. At the same time, the bearing capacity of such a design does not exceed 5, maximum 7 kg. Most often they are used not for their intended purpose, but as a regular towel rack.

There is another, figuratively speaking, worker-peasant version of wall-mounted dryers. You can make it yourself, but I will talk about it a little later.

Liana as a recognized leader among ceiling-type dryers

For owners of small bathrooms, as well as in apartments with high ceilings, a model under the general name of a creeper for drying clothes in the bathroom is the best fit. The dryer received such an extravagant name for the abundance of ropes and hanging rollers.

The ceiling model "Liana" is really very convenient, I have not yet heard any hostess scold this device. The bottom line here is that a metal frame of two rails is attached to the ceiling. On this rollers are hung, through which the ropes are threaded.

But the laundry does not hang on ropes, but on metal tubes. Ropes along with rollers are needed to raise and lower metal tubes. Plus, for convenience, a console is attached to the wall, on which the ends of the ropes cling. Personally, to me, this design is more like a mechanism for raising sails on yachts.

Now such models are made not only in the ceiling, but also in the wall version. Their operating principle is exactly the same. The difference is only in the bearing elements. As you probably already understood, the ceiling vine is fixed to the ceiling, and in the wall version, two side wall consoles are used.

A fairly wide range of models is hidden behind a single name. The length of the tubes in the vines ranges from 50 cm to 2 m. The instruction promises that the vine is on average designed for 15 - 20 kg of weight. But here you need to look at the country of origin.

Our craftsmen, as well as respectable German burghers, as a rule, make quality goods. And I can assure you that 20kg is far from the limit.

But as for some (not all) Chinese firms and unmarked dryers, then no matter how low the price, you will spend money in vain. The ropes will get tangled, the rollers will jump off, and the brackets will bend.

Floor and portable dryer options

To list all the existing floor options in one short review is simply not realistic. Almost everyone has seen such dryers. The most popular model at the moment is a portable folding dryer, vaguely reminiscent of an ironing board.

But besides it, there are three-dimensional structures on wheels, which are often not disassembled, but they are very convenient to move around the apartment. As far as I have seen, all such dryers are made of metal.

I like them for their reliability. There are no ropes, rollers or brackets, everything is extremely simple, an ordinary lattice with cross bars. If such drying is handled normally, then children will also get it.

As for portable models, here the range is even wider. The most famous is the dryer, consisting of 2 halves connected by loops in the form of a book.

It is made specifically for use in the bathroom. At the edges of such drying there are special stops. You only need to open this "book" and place it on the edges of the bathroom.

My wife once on occasion, at a sale, bought a so-called battery dryer, meaning heating. It consists of 2 curved hooks that cling to the battery, and 5 transverse tubes are welded between them.

I have never seen a simpler design. The wife uses it when she erases various small things without wringing with her own hands. First, she hangs the dryer on the bath, and after the laundry drains, she transfers it to the radiator, quickly, cheaply and conveniently.

Active dryers

Active dryers I call stationary heated towel rails powered by the heating system of the house or from the supply of hot water. As well as units that run on electricity.

Well, there is practically nothing to tell about stationary water heated towel rails, as a rule they are mounted once and if you did not spare the money and bought a quality item, then you will use such a dryer for life.

As for electric models, they can be both stationary and portable. Stationary electric models differ from water models only in the type of coolant.

Portable models are less common, but you can still find them if you wish. All electric dryers of this kind operate on the same principle as an oil heater. That is, special oil is pumped inside the sealed case and a heating element is installed.

From a standard heater, they differ only in the configuration of the body, there are crossbars specifically for hanging clothes and enhanced protection against high humidity.

Such electric portable models work from a 220V network, the power in them is calculated so that the temperature does not exceed 60ºС, so it is not possible to get burned about them.

If you are buying an electric model of a bathroom dryer, whether it is stationary or portable, first of all, make sure that your outlet is equipped with a ground loop. The bath room is damp and you should not rely on the Russian “maybe”, the consequences can be more than serious.

Table of the average cost of popular dryers

Dryer name Estimated dryer price Construction type
Ceiling and wall-ceiling models of the "Liana" type 760 - 2000 rubles
Floor portable models 830 - 1500 rubles
Bath models 550 - 4000 rubles
Folding wall dryer on consoles 550 - 720 rubles
Wall Mounted Drum Dryer 737 - 1200 rubles
Portable electric dryer 1500 - 3790 rubles
Hanging dryer under the radiator 185 - 295 rubles
Stationary electric towel warmer From 5500 rubles
Water heated towel rail From 1500 rubles

When choosing a factory model, in order not to be mistaken, you need to pay attention to several fundamental things:

  • Almost all modern factory models, if not completely, then at least partially, consist of metal.. So from ferrous metals, that is, ordinary steel, I recommend to refuse immediately. It is best to take stainless steel, if you feel sorry for the money, take nickel-plated metal, with a careful attitude, such a coating will last for quite a long time. As a last resort, buy aluminum, but you should not count on any serious strength here;

Sometimes mall managers go for a trick. They say that although the dryer is made of ferrous metal, it is powder coated on top, which is an indicator of quality. So enamel, powder coating or any other paint during active use will begin to crack in a year, and after a couple of years you will find rust at the joints.

  • The second sore point is the clotheslines in the bathroom. Even if you are an ardent supporter of everything natural, in this case it is better to take synthetic ropes. Once again, the bath room is warm and humid. In such conditions, any natural material will quickly become a breeding ground for fungus and mold.
    The fact that the rope itself will rot is not a problem. Mold spores are dangerous, which will constantly remain on things, including underwear. And sooner or later, this can lead to serious health problems;

  • Don't go for cheap stuff. The dryer is not essential. If you don’t have enough money for a quality thing, it’s better to dry your clothes for a while using the old-fashioned method, pulling a rope on the balcony, in the kitchen or in one of the rooms. Don't forget the old time-tested truth that the miser pays twice.
  • First of all, remember that wall models of dryers, at least their main, load-bearing part, must be mounted exclusively on a main, load-bearing wall. Installing a dryer on a wall is always a risk. The entire pier, of course, will not collapse, but you cannot drive good dowels into it, there will not be enough thickness. And a weak fastening can, in the end, break out along with the cladding. Agree, it will be a pity, because of a small dryer, to completely shift the tiles in the bathroom;
  • Before you buy this or that model, think, or even better, measure whether it will fit in your bathroom. How convenient it will be to close the window, if any. Will it interfere with the doors and will you also be able to take a shower freely;

  • A high-quality wall or ceiling liana for drying clothes in the bathroom is an indispensable thing. But with large volumes, one should not forget that the bath, in fact, is not a large room, and sooner or later high humidity will do its job. In order to protect my bath from mold and fungus, I personally immediately put the fan on the hood, and then, when I was doing repairs, I installed an electric underfloor heating.

Homemade dryers

As I mentioned at the beginning, the simplest laundry drying device that you can think of and make yourself in the bathroom is a rope stretched over 2 hooks. But one rope, as a rule, is not enough. My wife once demanded that there be at least 3 such ropes.

I did not philosophize for a long time, I took 2 bars with a section of 40x40 mm and a little more than half a meter long. I sanded them well, covered them with urethane-alkyd varnish and fixed each with three anchors on the wall. Then I bought a dozen nickel-plated self-tapping screws in the form of hooks, screwed them into the planks and pulled 5 strong ropes between them.

Later, in one of the magazines, I saw the original wooden dryer, made in the form of a window, and I made the same one for my bath. The idea is extremely simple. First, the outer frame is mounted and decorated under the window.

After that, the frame is made slightly smaller than the outer one, so that it clearly fits into the outer one. From below, these frames are connected by ordinary door hinges, and from above, instead of a limiter, a leather belt is attached, up to a meter long.

Inside the second frame, a series of horizontal bars are inserted, on which the linen is actually hung. The crossbars can be made of wood or stainless steel, it's up to your taste. When it is necessary to dry the laundry, the inner frame opens and a bele is hung on the crossbeams. In the diagram below, I showed the general principle of assembling such a dryer.

Conclusion

Of course, you can live without a clothes dryer for the bathroom, but believe me, it is much “smarter” and easier with it. The photo and video in this article contains additional information on the topic of dryers. If you have any questions, write them in the comments, I will try to help.

The process of drying clothes in the bathroom is simplified and made convenient by various models of dryers in the bathroom, which can fit into any interior without violating the overall design concept.

Existing models of dryers

The modern range of clothes dryers in the bathroom is very diverse. There are also compact specimens for drying small things, and very roomy folding models.

To choose the right model, you need to take into account several nuances so that it harmoniously fits into the dimensions of the room and design.

Floor models

Such designs for drying, which are installed on the floor in the room, are very convenient. Indeed, at the moment when nothing needs to be dried, they are removed to a secluded place and do not affect the appearance of the bathroom.

Suitable floor "fold-out dryers" for someone who does laundry a couple of times a week, and has a spacious bathroom where the dryer could fit in an unfolded form.

Vertical floor models are the most compact, when assembled, they easily fit in the corner of the room. These models are suitable for those who hang out well-wrung out laundry to dry so that drops do not fall on the lower floors.

wall models

Due to its dimensions and method of attachment, the wall-mounted dryer in the bathroom does not take up much space, and it also turns on and works quite quickly.

However, it will not be possible to place a large number of things on it. These designs are suitable for families where washing is done in small batches and often.

Ceiling linen dryers

Modern models have replaced conventional clotheslines in the bathroom. Today they are represented by stationary specimens and folding structures.

If you use this design, then even very wet things, from which droplets of water drip, can be safely placed for drying.

The only disadvantage of ceiling models is the limitation of the possibility of using the bathroom during the drying process.

Choice of laundry drying

In addition to the shape of the product itself, it is imperative to pay attention to the materials of manufacture. Since the humidity is high in the bathroom, and the crossbars are constantly in contact with wet laundry, therefore, all components and fastenings of the dryer must be resistant to corrosion.

One of the most durable is stainless steel. Aluminum drying in the bathroom is better to choose when they will be used to dry light things.

Quite often there are models made of steel, which is protected by a layer of enamel or powder types of dyes. But such specimens are short-lived, as the enamel elements become covered with micro-cracks and deteriorate.

Inexpensive and small-sized models of dryers can sometimes have plastic elements. However, you should not count on a long service life.

Going to the store for clothes drying, you should take a tape measure. First of all, it will help to find out the dimensions of the product to the millimeter, and will also allow you to calculate the distance between adjacent crossbars, which is less than 60 mm. Otherwise, things can touch each other during drying, coloring each other, and increasing the drying time.

Electric dryers

For those who do not like to wait a long time for dried laundry, electric models are suitable. On such designs, small things dry in 40 minutes, while bulky sleeping sets and blankets dry from 2 to 4 hours.

When purchasing such a dryer, you should take into account the power, which should not be less than 70 watts.

It is also better to choose models with temperature control so that you can dry gizmos made of light, delicate fabrics on them.

Unusual modifications of dryers

Designer clothes dryers will not only cope with their direct duty, but also be able to decorate the interior of any bathroom.

For small bathrooms, you can use compact models that imitate windows.

You can choose any color for this frame. For drying small knitted items that are washed without wringing, you can purchase a small-sized cute dryer model that is installed on the bath.

For lovers of high technology, there are instances located above the bath and controlled by a remote control. Such dryers automatically move.

Photos of bathroom dryers show that today it is easy to choose models that will meet all the requirements and external characteristics.

Photo dryer in the bathroom

There is a washing machine in almost every home. If we don’t have problems with washing thanks to technology, then there may be difficulties with drying clothes. Those who have a beautiful and warm balcony do not even think about such a question, but what to do if there is no balcony or loggia in the apartment? Or the loggia is not glazed, and the balcony does not differ in solid dimensions? The way out of the situation will be clothes dryers, which can be conveniently placed in any bathroom. Do you have a small room and you think that even a dryer will not fit here? Peace of mind, manufacturers offer a lot of compact and functional models.

Thoughtful convenience – from floor to ceiling models

Advanced design technologists have developed such a variety of dryer models that even owners of a tiny bathroom can find a place in the room where they can easily dry their laundry. You can choose wall, ceiling, hinged, floor models that quickly fold and free up space. It's up to you to choose a clothes dryer that will become your indispensable assistant. And you will have to choose from an abundance of devices.

Ceiling model - the best option for drying any laundry

A ceiling dryer is ideal for a small bathroom. Its main advantage is "invisibility" and the ability to conveniently dry any type of laundry. It is clear that such devices are installed on the ceiling, and the design of the model consists, in fact, of brackets, ropes and rods (metal or aluminum). The last part can be raised and lowered, and most importantly, you can raise both all the bars and one.

  • The ceiling model will save space - its location will not take even a centimeter of the bathroom.
  • You can dry large items of laundry, such as sheets. To do this, lower the bar, hang clothes and lift the device with ropes.
  • It will be convenient to dry things that cannot be folded in half - for this it is enough to lower all the bars and create a platform for a sweater or a delicate item.

As a rule, such models are made of steel or aluminum, due to which they are durable. The only disadvantage of the ceiling fixture is the complexity of installation. It will not work to buy and put a dryer in the room, you will need to mount it to the ceiling and wall.

Wall model - drying versatility

Wall fixtures can be of two types - stationary (rope, like on a balcony) and folding (accordion). Both models have their advantages and will be a great place to dry clothes even in a tiny room.

  • The stationary model consists of two parts that are attached to two opposite walls. One part of the structure is considered the main one - in order to hang clothes, you will need to extend the ropes and attach them to the second part with hooks.
  • A folding dryer is attached to one wall and when you need to hang things, it simply moves apart like an accordion. This model saves space in the room and does not require "labour" to pull the ropes.

Stationary dryers are good because they can withstand significant weight, but folding wall-mounted models cannot boast of such a characteristic. They are just designed for a small amount of laundry. If you need the most compact model for the bathroom, and you do not plan to hang bedding and dresses here, an accordion wall model is suitable, but it is better to choose a rope option as a full-fledged drying.

Floor dryers - models for large quantities of laundry

Such devices for drying are similar to an ironing board - they also unfold, only they have less weight and parallel rods, on which the laundry is hung. Such models can be equipped with additional side folding elements so that you can hang the maximum number of things. Floor dryers are portable and save space in the bathroom.

There is one drawback with the floor folding model - if you have very little space in the bathroom, when unfolded it will occupy almost the entire room. But even for such a case, manufacturers have developed a special type of floor fixtures in the form of a bookcase. These are a kind of folding shelves made of rods that are placed on the floor, and linen is hung on the rods. The bookcase can be equipped with wheels, and on its “shelves” it will place trousers, socks, and towels.

Dryers that are installed on the bath and battery

Two more types of devices that will be useful for drying different types of laundry in the bathroom. Both models do not require special installation, but have features.

  • A model that is hung on a battery is a great option if you have heating in your bathroom. Such a device does not take up much space - it is simply attached to the battery or to the free side of the bathroom. True, many things cannot be placed here; often such dryers are designed for underwear and small towels.
  • A dryer that is installed directly on the bath - this model allows you to save space as much as possible. If you need to dry your laundry, you put it directly on the bath, and it does not take up free space. Difficulties will arise in the process of storing such a dryer - when it is not in use, it will be necessary to come up with a very spacious storage place for it.

Such models for drying will appeal to owners of a spacious bathroom or those who need additional space, in addition to the balcony, for hanging clothes.

Three rules for choosing a dryer

With a variety of models that you can choose for your bathroom, you have already met. It remains to choose a device that will not become another unnecessary purchase, but will really be useful for drying clothes.

  • The first thing you need to do is decide on a design. If your bathroom is small, the floor model may not fit into your dimensions. In this case, it is appropriate to select a wall or ceiling dryer. If you have somewhere to store the fixture, you can choose a model that is attached to the bath.
  • Second - pay attention to the material of manufacture. It can be stainless steel or aluminum. The latter option will differ in ease of low cost. But stainless steel dryers are considered the most reliable. They will not be subject to corrosion and deformation, which means they will last longer.
  • Third - look at the distance between the bars, especially if you choose a floor or wall model. It should be at least 8 cm when the distance is less than 6 centimeters, the laundry will not dry well, and if more than 8, the device will seem bulky and “steal” the free space of the bathroom.

Also pay attention to the top drying coating - it can be chrome or enamel. It is better to choose a chrome version, and even better - if the model is additionally treated with an anti-corrosion coating. Enamel-coated dryers will cost less, but they will not please you with their appearance for long, since the enamel layer will be erased very quickly, especially with regular drying.
