Marking the ceiling for seamless tiles and its cost. Ceiling tiles without seams Which seamless tile on the ceiling is better

Among the variety of finishing materials, some stand out for their combination of visual appeal and low price. Let's talk about the distinctive features and varieties of seamless ceiling tiles.

Characteristics

Seamless tiles for finishing the ceiling are very popular today. This is due to practicality, budgetary cost and other advantages of this material.

This option for the design of the ceiling covering is presented by manufacturers in a large assortment. Among the variety of designs you can find tiles for every taste. As for installation, it can be easily done by yourself.

The main feature of this finishing technology is the illusion of a single coating. The seams between the panels are almost invisible, so the ceiling is smooth and beautiful. At the same time, most models have an expressive relief, which allows you to make the interior especially interesting.

Usually plates are made of polystyrene. The material undergoes special processing. The result is thin and light squares with curved edges. The size of each tile is no more than 50 cm. They are glued easily and simply, without requiring professional skills and abilities.

Advantages and disadvantages

The advantages of ceiling tiles are obvious:

  • Low price. The first thing that attracts attention is the affordable cost of tiles, especially when compared with other facing materials.
  • Easy installation. You can save not only on the purchase itself, but also on installation work. You can decorate the ceiling using this technology without the services of specialists. You do not have to pre-finish the ceiling surface to the ideal, filling up the smallest defects and distortions. The final coating in any case will be visually even. In addition, thanks to the compact dimensions of the panels, even one person can handle their installation.
  • Practicality. A coating of this type does not “hide” the height of the room, unlike suspended or tension structures. Due to this feature, tiled finishing is an ideal solution for apartments and houses with low ceilings.
  • Heat and sound insulation. The material is able to provide additional protection against extraneous noise.
  • Ease of care. The coating is easily cleaned of dirt, without requiring special tools.
  • aesthetic appeal. Optionally, you can choose the option with embossed patterns or a completely smooth model. The rich palette includes classic whites, delicate pastels, vibrant options and even colored prints. If necessary, such a ceiling can be painted manually. This allows you to harmoniously decorate any part of the house, including rooms, a corridor, a kitchen and even a bathroom.

There are few disadvantages of such a tile:

  • She almost does not let air through.
  • With strong temperature fluctuations, the coating may be deformed.
  • The fragile structure requires careful handling of the material during installation and operation.

Kinds

Ceiling tiles are classified according to the manufacturing method.

Pressed

This type is the most popular. It is made from expanded polystyrene. During stamping at high temperatures, the sheets of material become denser. As a result, square tiles with a thickness of about 5-7 mm are obtained. The width of each of them is 50 cm.

In turn, polystyrene foam products are divided into several varieties:

  • Tiles with curly edges. In this case, the ends of the products are made in the form of a wave or a zigzag. This shape allows the panels to more firmly dock with each other. The seams are almost invisible.
  • Models with decorative fill. Each detail is decorated with a pattern that hides docking errors.
  • Products with calibrated edges. Such panels are ideally interconnected due to carefully calibrated geometric parameters and angles.

injection

extruded

Panels of this type have a thickness of not more than 3 mm. However, they are much stronger than the two varieties described above, which is explained by the special production process of the material. Patterns and textures are also varied. This is a realistic imitation of stucco, and the texture of textiles, and all kinds of color options.

When choosing between three types of coverage, it is worth relying on financial capabilities. The most economical is the first, pressed type. It is quite suitable for a laconic design of the room.

If you want to get a more original textured ceiling, it is better to prefer the second or third view.

Design and texture

The design of the seamless tile is diverse. This gives a lot of opportunities for interesting design.

For those who prefer classic and austere interiors, smooth options are suitable. These covers will never go out of style. If your decor is full of bright colors, a variety of textures and accessories, this option will also suit you. The ceiling of unpretentious design will not distract attention from the interior features, allowing you to consider every detail.

As for the volumetric textures of ceiling panels, these can be waves, geometric shapes, butterflies, stars, floral ornaments, and so on. Moreover, the coating can imitate brickwork, stucco and other finishing materials. The pattern can be as embossed as possible (3D effect) or only slightly stand out on a smooth surface.

In terms of color, most buyers prefer the classic snow white option. Such material refreshes the room, gives the interior lightness and airiness. The ability of white color to expand the space also works here, creating an atmosphere of spaciousness and freshness. For small areas, this design will be the most optimal.

Sometimes snow-white tiles are decorated with golden or silver sheen. This gives it a special chic. Also, drawings can be distinguished by a delicate shade or a bright and dynamic color.

Some tile models are completely painted. It looks especially impressive when imitating the texture of wood, marble or brick. The natural color of the depicted material enhances the visual similarity.

Colored tiles are a little less popular, although they look just as good as white ones. The beige version is suitable for lovers of calm warm tones, and soft pink can decorate a girl's room.

A bright ceiling (red, blue, purple) is a bold decision. Such products are chosen by creative people prone to experimentation.

Manufacturers and reviews

Most buyers who have decorated their homes with ceiling tiles are satisfied with the result. The coating perfectly hides the curvature of the ceiling without reducing the height of the room. Self-assembly of the material does not require special skills. Panels are glued easily and quickly.

Customers are pleased with the attractive appearance of the resulting coating, and the possibility of a wide choice of design and colors. Many people paint the tiles themselves, which is especially convenient when re-repairing. When you renovate a room, you don't have to remove the old tiles and replace them with new ones. It is enough to cover the material with a layer of fresh paint, and the ceiling will shine with freshness again.

The material is comfortable to use. Laminated surfaces can be washed with detergents, while models with a grainy texture can be wiped with a dry cloth.

As for the disadvantages of this material, users note the ability of the surface to absorb odors and grease. Concerning in the kitchen, it is recommended to use products without a pronounced texture that allow wet cleaning.

Also, in rooms with a tiled ceiling, it is not recommended to use flat chandeliers and lamps in order to avoid deformation of the coating. It is better to choose lighting fixtures that can be lowered at least 25 cm from the ceiling.

It is better to give preference to energy-saving or LED lamps, which, unlike conventional ones, heat up much less.

The company's expanded polystyrene products are the most popular "Format". Customers are satisfied with the quality of the panels and their appearance.

Many people like the company's tile design "Antares", however, upon closer examination of the products of the brand, you can notice a slight curvature of the edges. This makes it difficult to create an ideal coating, although not too picky owners assure that this does not spoil the general appearance of the ceiling.

Speaking of foreign manufacturers, it is worth noting that Chinese products are thinner and of poorer quality, but European brands usually delight buyers with good products.

In order for the purchase to be successful, it is worth paying attention to some important points:

  • Ceiling tiles must be perfectly flat. Pay attention to the smoothness of the product if there is no pattern on it. If there are textured patterns, check their clarity. Panels must not be warped or chipped. The most important thing is to check the condition of the edges of the material. The integrity of the final coating depends on the ideality of the edge.
  • Important is not only the condition of the front side of the plates. The reverse side should also be uniform and even. The presence of dents or protruding particles can affect the tightness of the material to the ceiling and its reliability.
  • If possible, check the strength of the products. Take one tile by the edge and hold it for a few seconds. If the material is not of high quality, it may crack.

Modern finishing material, which is a seamless tile on the ceiling, is considered one of the best solutions, if necessary, to create a stylish and original coating, and with minimal physical effort and cash costs. It allows you to collect a relief pattern on which the seams will be invisible.

Features of Seamless Tile

Among the variety of materials for decorating the floor, the so-called seamless tile is especially popular. Among the advantages of this finishing product are: low weight, long service life, a sufficient degree of strength, moisture resistance and a large selection of colors, textures and shapes.

Expanded polystyrene is used for the manufacture of seamless ceiling panels. In finished form, the products have slightly curved edges. Due to this feature, the surface, decorated with seamless foam ceiling panels, looks like a complete coating with visually invisible junctions of adjacent elements.

As a result, the result obtained allows the appearance of the ceiling to harmoniously fit into any interior and look more aesthetically pleasing.

As already mentioned, for the release of these products, polystyrene foam is used, which is subjected to special processing, which ensures the creation of a perfectly flat and white ceiling surface. Such a ceiling tile made of expanded polystyrene is smooth or embossed.

The variety of textures provides an opportunity to embody options for unusual decoration of floors in rooms for various purposes - in the living room, kitchen, hallway and even in the bathroom. The panels qualitatively imitate the texture of natural materials, such as decorative plaster, stucco molding, woodcarving.

The thickness of seamless foam ceiling tiles can be from 3 to 15 millimeters, so this finish does not reduce the height of the room, unlike other types of building products used for the same purpose. The installation of the panels will not take much time, since the elements can be quickly and easily glued to the rough base.

Usually, the dimensions of polystyrene foam tiles are 50x50 centimeters - this allows you to lay them even with your own hands, using a minimum of tools. But the panels are both square and rectangular, so that all kinds of patterns can be created on the ceiling plane.

Types of seamless tiles

Panels of this type are made in accordance with three different technologies, but using the same raw material. The classification of seamless panels is based on the production method.

They produce the following types of finishing products:

  1. Pressed products. For their manufacture, the method of stamping at high temperatures is used. During the production process, polystyrene sheets are compacted. Tiles produced using this technology have a thickness of 7 millimeters and a square shape with a side of 50 centimeters. In hardware stores, products are sold in packs of 8 pieces.
  2. injection tiles. They are made with a thickness of 8 - 14 centimeters of correct geometry, with deep patterns on the surface. The production process of such tiles consists in sintering raw materials in containers of a certain shape at high temperatures.
  3. Extruded panels. During their production, polystyrene is mixed with components that, under the influence of high temperature and pressure, acquire good foaming characteristics. The resulting mass in the form of strips is treated with a film and divided into plates. Due to the presence of the film, the panels have the color and texture of, for example, stone, wood, metals, plaster and other natural materials. The thickness of the extruded products is 2-5 millimeters. These products are expensive, and the cheapest panels are white.

According to the shape, seamless ceiling tiles made of expanded polystyrene can be:

  • with smooth edges. Products are produced in the form of a square. Due to the peculiarity of the edge during installation, they fit as tightly as possible to each other;
  • with irregular edges. These products belong to products manufactured under designer brands, and their use allows you to create an original style in the premises.

Choice of Styrofoam Ceiling Tiles

To purchase really high-quality polystyrene foam panels for finishing the floor, experts recommend following some rules:

  1. Products have a smooth and even shape, unless patterns or other edge design options are provided. If there is a pattern on the tiles, it must be clearly visible, it cannot contain defects.
  2. The edge of the elements should be given increased attention. The final result depends on its quality, as well as the attractive appearance of the finished coating and the invisibility of the seams.
  3. The reverse side of the products must be checked for defects in the form of bulges and dents.
  4. The degree of strength is tested by a simple method: the product is held in the air for a couple of seconds by the edge. If the tile is of poor quality, a crack will appear on it.

Seamless foam ceilings, in addition to their aesthetic qualities, favorably differ in affordable cost. Prices for this type of finishing material may vary depending on the tile manufacturer, but, in general, their cheapness is unchanged.

Design and texture of seamless tiles

The use of seamless tiles will be a beautiful solution, if necessary, to decorate the ceiling surface in a room decorated in any style. These products have many colors and a large selection of textures and therefore attract the attention of consumers of these products. Panels of different colors are an excellent solution to the task of visually enlarging small spaces.

Designers in their work use several win-win methods of visual expansion of space, including:

  • decoration of the ceiling surface with products of light shades;
  • a combination of tiles with mirror panels on the ceiling or walls;
  • pasting the walls with light-colored wallpaper.

To make color compatibility look harmonious, for example, it is advisable to combine blue with warm colors, and it is better not to use red shades when finishing the ceiling surface, as they contribute to creating the effect of low ceilings in the room.

Elegant stucco on the ceiling looks incredibly luxurious, and seamless panels help to imitate such a decorative coating. In this case, it is better to give preference to warm and light shades. An unlimited choice of colors and textures of such products allows you to make a seamless ceiling in a different style and this is an obvious advantage of this finishing material.

Extruded tiles are produced in various types of decor, but imitation of natural finishing materials, mirror coatings, as well as 3D format are most in demand.

It is impossible to list all the options for colors, textures and patterns that exist today, as the range of tiles is constantly updated with the latest shapes and shades. Now it is quite difficult to find similar ceiling panels.

People who prefer a classic style of interior design usually choose products with a smooth surface, which are always on trend. Among the traditional options, there are tiles with an ornament, rhombuses or triangles, with repeating sea waves.

Also, products with flower arrangements with small buds or large blooming flowers are constantly popular. The surface of seamless tiles looks good with imitation brickwork. White tiles with a silver or gold sheen strike with their luxury.

Natural materials are always in trend, so ceiling products that repeat the texture of wood or marble cause increased attention. To maximize the similarity, the tiles are painted in natural colors.

Consumer opinion about seamless tiles

In most cases, property owners who have already used this product to create seamless tile ceilings find that this finishing material has a lot of advantages.

Among them are quick and easy installation, since the entire ceiling surface can be completely covered with panels in a few hours. It makes no sense to hire a construction team to fix the tiles, since such work is easy to do with your own hands, which reduces the cost of decorating the floor.

To mount a seamless ceiling, there is no need to purchase profiles and install a structure from them. In addition, there is no need to take furniture out of the room, which creates additional comfort during repairs and reduces the time required for its implementation. Gluing panels is done quickly, while the room does not collect a lot of debris.

Another advantage of seamless tiles is the diverse range of these products. It should be noted the practicality of the created ceiling covering. The material does not require special care methods.

Ceiling panels for arranging a seamless foam ceiling are distinguished by a long service life, they retain their original appearance for a long time, and if necessary, their surface can be updated and repainted, thereby refreshing the design in the room.

Affordable cost is one of the important advantages of this finishing material - seamless type ceiling panels make repairs relatively inexpensive.

Examples of using seamless tiles in the interior

The tiled method of finishing the ceiling to date has given way to suspension and tension structures. But after the appearance of seamless panels on the building materials market, such a design of the ceiling became relevant again.

The relief ornament, pronounced on the surface of the products, is perfectly combined with stucco elements, so this finishing option will be an excellent solution when creating the interior of a living room or a hall. When using light-colored material, the space of the room looks visually wider, and the decor seems weightless, as if airy.

No additions are required for products with geometric patterns. Ceiling elements with squares or triangles give the interior conciseness. On sale there are panels that allow you to create unusual coatings with 3D effects on the ceiling that will look good in a children's room. The product options that imitate natural stone will decorate the bathroom, and the brick-like finish is an ideal choice for hallways.

Seamless tile for ceiling decoration, which has undeniable advantages, is an inexpensive and very attractive way to decorate rooms for various purposes.

The range of materials for finishing the ceiling, presented today on the building materials market, is striking in its diversity. Products can easily satisfy any, even the most original desires, since they are made from a wide variety of raw materials, can be regular or irregular in shape, and also differ in color, cost, service life, quality and other characteristics.

Peculiarities

Among the varieties of this specialized material, seamless tiles are very popular. The main advantages of such products include light weight, good strength indicators, long service life, moisture resistance and a huge selection of shapes, colors and textures.

Expanded polystyrene is used for the production of seamless ceiling tiles. When finished, it has slightly curved edges. It is due to this feature of its shape that the surface of the ceiling, decorated with this material, looks like an integral canvas, with visually imperceptible seams at the junctions of elements. This means that the finished surface will more harmoniously fit into the interior and will look much more aesthetic due to the visual absence of seams and joints.

To produce such products, polystyrene foam is used, which undergoes a certain processing, which provides the product with a perfectly white surface. The texture of the tile can be smooth or with a relief pattern. A variety of textures allows you to implement many options for non-standard decoration of the ceiling surface in rooms for various purposes - it can be a kitchen, living room, corridor or bathroom. Products perfectly imitate the texture of natural materials, such as wood carvings, as well as options for decorative plaster and stucco.

The thickness of the elements varies between 3-15 mm, so that such a ceiling finish does not reduce the height of the room, in comparison with other building products used for the same needs. Installation work does not take much time - the products are easily and quickly glued to the base.

Tiles, as a rule, have dimensions of 50x50 centimeters, which allows even one specialist to perform laying work using a minimum of auxiliary tools. However, it is produced not only in a square shape, so that various original patterns can be laid out on the ceiling.

Kinds

Products of this type are produced using three different technologies, albeit using the same material. The classification of seamless tiles is based on the method of production. The following types of products are distinguished:

  • Pressed tiles. It is made by stamping under the influence of high temperature. During production, polystyrene sheets are compacted. Elements released in this way have a thickness of 7 mm and a square shape - 50x50 centimeters. This tile is sent to the shelves in a package of 8 pieces.
  • injection products are produced with a thickness of 8 to 14 mm, regular geometry, with a deep pattern on the surface. The production process of this type consists in the sintering of raw materials in special containers of a given shape at high temperatures.
  • Extruded tiles produced by mixing polystyrene with substances that acquire good foaming properties under pressure and high temperatures. The resulting mass in the form of strips is processed with a film and divided into separate elements. The film allows you to repeat the color and texture of natural materials - wood, stone or plaster and various metals. The thickness of the extruded tiles is 2-5 mm. This product has a high cost, the cheapest tile is presented in white.

According to the shape, the ceiling tiles are divided into two types:

  1. with even edges - products in the shape of a square, due to the peculiarity of the edges, as closely as possible adjacent to each other during the installation process;
  2. with irregular edges - this category of material is represented by products of designer brands. The use of such tiles allows you to give the interior of the room a unique and original style.

How to choose?

To buy a really good material for finishing the ceiling, experts advise you to follow some rules:

  • Products must have an even and smooth shape, unless otherwise provided by the presence of a certain pattern and edge design options. If the tile has a pattern, then it must be clear and without any defects.
  • Particular attention should be paid to the edge of the elements. The quality of this component determines the state of the finished coating on the ceiling, as well as its visual appeal and the invisibility of the seams.
  • The reverse side of the tile should be checked for any dents or bulges. Such defects are formed due to the heterogeneity of polystyrene foam granules.
  • The strength level is tested by a very simple method: you need to take the product by the edge and hold it in the air for a couple of seconds. If the product is of poor quality, a crack will form on it.

The ceiling, which will be finished with seamless tiles, in addition to its excellent aesthetic properties, will also favorably differ in affordable and affordable cost. The price range for this type of finishing material may vary somewhat depending on the tile manufacturer, but in general, its cheapness remains unchanged.

Design and texture

Seamless tiles are guaranteed to be a beautiful solution for decorating the ceiling surface in any interior. The tile has many options for textures, color solutions attract with their diversity. Therefore, it is worth considering the issue of texture and color compatibility well so that the result does not disappoint and is acceptable in each case.

In particular, this applies to small rooms, the decoration and design of which should visually increase their area. Colored products can serve as an excellent assistant in solving this problem.

There are a number of win-win ways to visually increase the space of a room, which are used by many designers:

  • a combination of tiles and mirror panels on the ceiling, as well as on walls or wardrobes;
  • wall decoration with wallpaper in light colors;
  • decoration of the ceiling with tiles of light shades.

As for harmonious color compatibility, for example, blue is best combined with warm colors, and bright red shades are best not used when decorating ceilings, as they create the effect of a low ceiling in the room.

Elegant stucco molding looks very luxurious on the ceiling, and it is seamless tiles that can imitate such decor.

In this case, it is better to opt for light and warm shades.

A wide range of colors and textures of seamless tiles allows you to decorate the ceiling in any style, which is an obvious advantage of the material.

Extruded tiles are presented in a wide variety of various types of decor, among which imitation of natural materials, mirror surfaces, as well as a modern 3D format are in great demand.

or still "stretch ceiling" Yes, we faced the same choice. Well, my hands got to the reviews about the repair, and then I decided necessarily to start from the ceiling, since we started the repair itself from it, how much in vain, why? - I'll tell you a little later. There were few reviews, and all of them are ambiguous, and after several videos from YouTube, and by the way, not a single positive comment from there, we still took it and ... bought seamless ceiling tiles.

What is its advantage:

  • - Well, obviously, in comparison with the tension one, this is a low price and speed of "installation".
  • - You can glue it yourself, and in 1 evening, without much effort, which we actually did.
  • - When again compared with tension, the environmental friendliness of materials. A stretch ceiling is many times more harmful than a ceiling tile.
  • - Light as a feather, very easy to transport, bought and brought, perfect.
  • - It does not require careful preparation of the ceiling before gluing, unless, of course, you have chalk whitewash, although, I think, for glue, the "moment" and chalk whitewash would be firmly stuck, because the difference between the plates is 5 (5 !!!) centimeters, as it was with us.
  • - It is easy to replace a damaged tile than a whole holey canvas of a false ceiling.
  • - Well, if you glue it - how you glue it, it will work out somehow), you immediately remember the fairy tale about "Vovka in the Kingdom of Far Far Away." Given that we still tried, it turned out tolerable. Of course, I don’t like it, but I don’t have such a desire “to tear everything off and glue it again tomorrow”.

I'll start by explaining our solution. I didn’t recognize ceiling tiles at all, I considered them a relic of the past and didn’t see anything so good in it, but the name itself "seamless tile" sounded very tempting. For some reason, I decided that with a good preparation of the ceiling for gluing, we will avoid all incidents during gluing, and glue liquid nails "moment" will make this gluing many times easier. Of course, in our case with a terrible drop in the plates in the ceiling, it would be an excellent solution to install stretch ceilings, but we didn’t have such an opportunity, and it would have cost ten times more in terms of money, so we managed for the first time with Format seamless tiles.

What we had and what problems we had to face:

We glued the wallpaper in the hall, the apartment is in the old Khrushchev. We are ready for tiling in advance. Wallpaper we are all old deleted , and the first thing they did was beat off all the plaster at the joints between the ceiling and the wall.

Yes, this is how they used to do repairs in old Khrushchev houses, it was considered fashionable and bohato. Just in case a wall primed let her dry. Somehow putty this terrible drop , which, by the way, saved our situation a lot, if we didn’t do this - the tile would simply simply break in half or wrinkle due to tension on both sides.

Therefore, if there are at least some irregularities on the ceiling, differences - the whole thing should be urgently putty and after drying sand to keep the ceiling level. If the ceiling is not at all even and you don’t have the strength or desire to fix something, you can try to stick it like that, but the joints will be clearly visible, and the greater the drop or any unevenness, the better the joint will be visible, and with artificial lighting, these joints are sooooo visible, but due to the thickness of the tile, old wallpaper should not appear, well, this is advice for the lazy.

The base for wallpapering turned out to be as good as they could - they leveled

The quality of the ceiling seamless tiles "Format":

Despite the reliable packaging, which inspires confidence, when opening in several packages, I found broken and chipped tiles , this one is no longer suitable for the middle, now it’s just cut somewhere, although the integrity of the package was not touched.

I won’t sin, but I think that defective tiles are not written off and disposed of, but hidden in packages for purchase, which is very unpleasant. The tiles were enough back to back, but if not enough, these broken corners would definitely spoil the look of the ceiling.

The drawing is embossed, but not much, if you do not peer - it looks like decorative plaster. The tile itself is a bit porous, these little foams are not packed tightly together like the old ceiling tiles. Breaks and rumples very easily with inaccurate use . It's easy to leave traces of everything - from pencil, dirty hands, hardened glue.

I really liked that there is an arrow on the back of the tile,

as far as I remember, all the arrows should look the same at the window. Although the drawing was somehow strange and with the same combination it converged in some places, but not at all, but we decided that it was specially created so that it would not be particularly striking.

Don't pay attention to the tape, it's temporary. In general, so far everything went well, but the joints were barely showing.

Let's start gluing the "Format" ceiling tiles:

After preparing the ceiling for wallpapering, it seems that all the worst and most difficult things are behind, in general - this is so, theoretically. But practically, not really.

We started gluing like this:

1) We measured the middle of the room exactly in the place where we have a chandelier hanging, since they were afraid to make a slot in the tile. That is, it turns out that the room itself is divided into 4 even squares.

2) We glued the threads in these places, crosswise, drew them with a pencil on the ceiling so that the tile went smoothly.

3) You need to glue the tiles according to the same marked squares, starting from the middle (where the chandelier will hang. We finished 1 square - then we proceed to the second, etc.

Places where the tiles have to be cut - leave for "later". With glue, the tile was glued easily for a moment, hold it for a couple of seconds and in no case press it - dents immediately remain, which then cannot be fixed by anything, yes, still tender she of course.

We carefully glue the tiles together with masking tape, remove the masking tape after the glue has completely dried!!! Glue - the moment of installation.

It stuck almost firmly.

4) As soon as the whole tile is glued, we move on to the trimmings. Cut the tile with the usual, but necessarily, sharp, clerical knife , otherwise the tile is obtained with ugly cliffs and corners.

The most pleasant stage is the removal of masking tape from already glued tiles).

In general, the joints are certainly visible, but tolerable. Most do not notice at all, and in principle I like it, there is no desire to re-paste the tiles.

5) We glued the tiles, and the final step is to glue the ceiling plinth,

this is of course a completely different story, and very labor-intensive, cutting a baguette at 45 degrees, a bunch of mat and rewind for the whole house, tons of spoiled baguette, but a little advice - it is better not to take a plinth of huge width, why?:

  • It looks cheap in composition with ceiling tiles and such a huge edging for the whole room
  • Slots are visible (with an uneven ceiling, drops).
  • A huge plinth is less plastic than a narrow one; with large differences, it will sort of bulge. And since the tile has already been glued tightly - it cannot be put on the side of the plinth, as a result of which the cracks are visible.
  • It is really hard to glue in the corners if you are not a craftsman and have never done it.

But if you are still a fan of a huge baguette - a simple tip is not to glue the tiles on the sides from the side of the wall, just to put it on the side of the baguette, it will be much better than trying to fix these gaps in the future. We covered one with a curtain, it is not visible there. With the second stupidly reconciled.

From the pros:

  • + Price, oh, I completely forgot. They gave something for a package (2 sq.m.) about 300 rubles. Bought a total of 9 packs. 1 pack contains 8 tiles.
  • + No odor at all
  • + Simple installation (if not for the plinth)
  • + Lightweight, easy to transport
  • + Easy to glue
  • +Interesting pattern
  • + Large selection On the market
  • + Does not turn yellow over time (experience of using more than six months)
  • + There are arrows (hints in which direction to glue) to match the pattern

Of the minuses:

  • - The seams are still there
  • - There is a marriage (at least in three packages out of nine)
  • - Too delicate, easily torn, wrinkled
  • - porous
  • - The pattern does not match in some places despite the instructions.

In general, “you can live”, as they say, for the first time it will do, but if you make yourself a ceiling once and for all, this option will not work 100%, anything, but not tiles. And so, if you just want to quickly and simply refresh your room, hall, or kitchen - go ahead, for new ideas Grade - 3, for marriage, for seams in a seamless ceiling, but I recommend, maybe you can do much better). I wish you good luck, bye bye.

An excellent alternative to the classic grouted ceiling tiles is the seamless ceiling tile with the main difference - almost invisible grouts. Proper installation of the material allows you to form a holistic and harmonious coating with almost no joints between individual elements.

Varieties of ceiling tiles without seams

Ceiling tiles for seamless ceilings are available in several versions. Traditionally, this tile:

  • pressed;
  • injection;
  • extruded.

Materials differ in size, thickness, quality, appearance. Each of them has its own advantages and disadvantages.

Extruded ceiling - what is remarkable

The most elegant seamless ceiling will turn out at the base with extruded tiles, the thickness of which is only 3 mm. Despite the apparent fragility, the material leads in terms of service life. The cost of a tile is made up of several factors, among which the brand of the manufacturer, as well as the texture and colors, are in the first place.

The most affordable budget option is a seamless white ceiling tile without an individual relief.

Products with imitation wood, stucco, silk and other unusual options will cost more.

Extruded seamless tiles for ceiling decoration are the most practical and durable, do not cause problems during installation and operation. Products with a dense and smooth surface are easy to cut to give them the desired size with smooth edges. The edge of the tiles is slightly bent down, which makes it easier to mask the irregularities of the base.

Products can be presented with different options for contours, including with a wavy, zigzag edge, which complicates installation by an order of magnitude, but can bring the missing creativity to interior design.

Injection ceiling tiles - what is the difference

Injection tiles without seams are especially appreciated by interior designers. The material is durable, reliable, hygienically clean due to the absence of the possibility for accumulation of dirt between the seams. The ceiling is easy to care for with a simple damp sponge. Throughout the entire period of use, the material retains its basic performance and color.

Modern products, including Chrysanthemum tiles with carved edges to form a decorative canvas, are available so far in only one color - white. Meanwhile, the surface can be painted with water-based paint in any color.

The advantages of paint include the following points:

  • low coefficient of thermal conductivity;
  • excellent sound insulation;
  • affordable cost;
  • resistance to moisture and fire;
  • simple installation and maintenance;
  • range of textures and patterns.

Among the shortcomings, increased softness is noted compared to other types of ceiling tiles and, as a result, instability to mechanical damage. The material is difficult to cope with temperature fluctuations, with an unstable microclimate in the room, peeling of the finish from the base is not excluded.

A significant minus is the insufficient level of breathability, which contributes to the creation of the effect of a thermos in the room.

Pressed tile ceilings - characteristics

Pressed foam ceiling tiles are obtained by pressing or stamping into individual white squares with a matte finish. The material is noticeably different from the products described above, obtained by extrusion or as a result of heat treatment - sintering. The main advantage of a tile - affordable price for the consumer. During operation, damaged or requiring restoration plates can be easily replaced with new ones with minimal effort, time and money.

An equally important point is the simplified installation of the pressed plate. Just like an extruded or injection, pressed polystyrene foam ceiling is created by mounting tiles on glue. To give the canvas individuality, ordinary water-based paints are used.

If you compare the photos of all three types of ceiling tiles for finishing the ceiling, you can also see the main drawback of pressed polystyrene foam elements - edging around the perimeter. It is this fact that makes it impossible to use tiles for decorating ceilings with special requirements for the stylistic component. Another disadvantage of the material is not always accurate dimensions, as a result of a manufacturing error, which leads to errors during installation - cracks.

Styrofoam ceilings made of pressed boards are the most fragile and unreliable, requiring special attention both during transportation and installation, and during operation.
