DIY paper crafts. How to make paper crafts for children of different ages with your own hands

Today we will learn how to interesting and original paper crafts with or for children.

And first, let's see what we need for this:

To create crafts, we will use different types of paper and cardboard:

napkins for decoupage on boxes;

newspaper for creating papier-mâché balloons;

old magazines for crafts with beads;

crepe and wrapping paper;

colored double-sided paper;

corrugated and plain cardboard;

paper plates, cardboard tubes, various boxes and much more.

For creativity, the child will need such basic materials and tools as scissors, glue, paints and felt-tip pens.

Does it happen to you that you collect a lot of small necessary items, but there is nowhere to put them? Let's make a fun pocket in which everything will fit and which can be hung in a conspicuous place.

Paper crafts for kids: USEFUL POCKET

What will be required:

colored paper

pencil

lace scissors glue

Work sequence:

Cut out two such shapes along the contour. Make details for the ears and nose, as shown in the photo.

Apply glue along the edge, connect the parts to make a pocket inside. Punch two holes.

Glue on the ears and nose. Draw a ribbon for hanging.

This pocket is perfect for storing small items: hairpins, combs or stationery.

needle spoke

cream paint

Work sequence:

Inflate the balloon, lubricate it with any cream. Prepare a newspaper for crafts - for this you need to tear it into small pieces. Wetting them in water, glue the ball so that there is no gap.

Now apply a layer of glue on the ball and glue it again with pieces of newspaper soaked in water - so you need to do 2-3 layers. You may need the help of an adult.

When the ball is completely dry (for this you will need to wait 1-2 days), pierce it with a needle - we don’t need it now - and cut the ball, as shown in the photo.

Now color the ball with paints.

Now let's make a basket. To do this, the newspaper sheet was divided into 4 parts to make rectangular blanks. Then, starting from the bottom corner, roll the newspaper into a tube with a knitting needle, and glue the tip.

Take 5 tubes and put them side by side, and stretch the sixth tube across under the first, over the second, under the third, etc., alternating. The next tube must be weaved in reverse: what was below will be on top.

To secure our base, take one tube and weave it around, also passing it between the other tubes through one.

Now you can make the basket itself: to do this, bend all the ends up and start weaving them around in the same way as you did before. Weave 4 rows.

Unnecessary ends weave on top and glue, some you can just cut off. Color the basket with gouache.

Make holes at the bottom of the ball and secure the basket with a thread. The balloon is ready!

What will be required:

colored cardboard, double-sided colored paper

scissors ribbon

Work sequence:

Take two sheets folded in half: one is cardboard, the other is colored paper.

On a sheet of colored paper, make cuts on the fold side, as shown in the photo. You should get 3 even squares of different sizes.

Now what you cut, push forward and inward. You should get a ladder, as if from boxes.

Glue the blank onto a sheet of colored cardboard. Decorate the boxes: glue colored paper and ribbons.

By this principle, you can make a card with balloons

Connect all the details. Poke a hole in the center of the flower with a skewer.

Such a flower can be put in a vase and presented to someone.

FRAME OF UNUSUAL FLOWERS

Do you have a boring monochrome frame at home? Let's make it a real masterpiece!

What will be required:

egg carton

Color them the same color. You should have 15-18 such sets of different colors (depending on the size of the frame).

Glue the petals together in the middle, carefully press and let them dry.

Glue the flowers to the frame. You won’t be able to attach everything at once, so do it in stages and wait until everything dries.

The frame is ready. Now you can insert your favorite photo into it.

CUTE CACTUS

How do you like such a cute cactus? It is completely safe for children because the thorns are painted on it. Let's make such a cactus and put it on the windowsill.

What will be required:

markers

Work sequence:

Draw a cactus in a pot on cardboard.

Color the picture on both sides and make another one exactly the same.

Make cuts: on one cactus from the bottom to the middle, and on the second - from the top to the middle.

crepe paper

ribbons

glue scissors

Work sequence:

Cut out a square of crepe paper and glue one side of the tube.

Make blanks from crepe paper: cut out strips and make cuts on one side along the entire length.

Start taping the tube from the bottom. You should get a skirt, as in the photo.

Thus, glue the entire flashlight. Make holes on the top sides and thread a ribbon through them so that the craft can be hung.

Such lanterns can be not only decoration, but also a useful thing. For example, at a holiday you can arrange a game with prizes: hang lanterns on a rope and put something valuable in them by gluing the bottom. Each blindfolded guest must cut off a gift with scissors.

ROOM DECORATION

Would you like to have a bird? Of course, nothing compares to the real one, but still an unusual and beautiful bird can be made from ordinary colored paper. See how it's done.

Draw bird silhouettes on a piece of paper.

Cut them out. Make a few of these. They must be different colors.

Make wings out of crepe paper: to do this, cut out rectangles of different colors and fold them like an accordion.

Make cuts in the blanks of the birds and insert the wings there. Tie ribbons to the figures and hang them on a circle made of wire.

Any kind of creative activity develops a child's imagination, perception of colors, textures and shapes, contributes to the formation of spatial and figurative thinking in general. Thanks to working with applications, kids learn diligence, patience and perseverance. Application is the simplest and most accessible form of creativity for a child, because kids from the age of 2 can stick cut out figures on cardboard.

Colored paper applications

For most crafts you will need:

  1. Colored paper or cardboard
  2. Scissors
  3. felt-tip pens

For children under 3 years old

  • finger crafts

For such a lamb or dandelion you will need:

  1. Pre-cut blanks of the muzzle, eyes and legs or stems for a dandelion.
  2. White non-toxic paint: watercolor or gouache.

Glue the blanks to the background, mark the borders - the circle of a flower or a lamb. First, you show what needs to be done, and then let the child dip his fingers into the paint and leave prints on paper without going beyond the drawn line.

  • Pompom Stamp Crafts

Another type of crafts that even the smallest can do.

For the manufacture of such crafts are used:

  1. Pompoms as stamps
  2. Paints.

DIY ideas: Christmas tree, Easter eggs, ice cream balls, clouds, tree crown, yellow chickens.

  • Circle Caterpillar

First you will need to draw a line on paper - the basis of the future caterpillar, and then put the circles you cut out on this line. After that, remove them and show the child where to glue the mugs.

  • Ice cream

For this ice cream you will need:

  1. office glitter,
  2. Cosmetic cotton pads.

We cut out an ice cream cone from paper or cardboard, paint cotton sponges in yellow, blue and pink colors. The task of the child is to stick a cone and “balls” of ice cream on paper. Sprinkle cotton pads on top with multi-colored sequins, which can be found in any stationery store.

  • Rabbit made of cotton pads and plasticine

Materials:

  1. Plasticine,
  2. Spaghetti on request
  3. Cotton pads - 4 pcs.

You cut one disc in half - these will be the ears, and the second into 4 parts - these are the legs of the rabbit. Spaghetti is used as a mustache, but they can also be made from plasticine. Form balls from plasticine or you can ask the child to make them. Then the kid simply glues the details of the craft on paper, and you make the antennae for the rabbit.

  • Multi-layer applications

At the age of 2-3 years, children especially love multi-layer applications.

Cut out the details, show in what order they need to be glued, and entrust the execution to the baby.

There is a second version of this craft - print a stencil, cut out details from it and paint them with paints.

For them you will need:

  1. Green marker or marker
  2. Cotton discs.

Cut two cotton pads in half - it will be snow, then cut out snowdrop flowers from disks and green leaves from paper. And the child is already gluing the details of the flower onto paper.

For children from 3 to 5 years old

These applications are already more complex, the child will need to cut out simple details on their own and glue them onto paper.

  • Bunny

For it you need:

  1. colored paper for the background,
  2. Green for the grass
  3. Pink or red for ears and nose.

The child cuts out the details according to the template, sticks them on the background and draws a mustache and eyes of a bunny with a felt-tip pen (if there are no blanks).

For the manufacture of ladybugs, we will use paper or cardboard in red and black.

Cut out 4 circles from red paper and 1 oval from black paper. We cut the oval in half, glue its parts to the background, then glue one red circle, as shown in the image, the ladybug itself, and glue the second circle on top of the fold, which will be the wings. We do the same with the second insect, then draw dots with black markers. Eyes can be made from paper or drawn with a felt-tip pen.

What you need:

Colored paper - dark blue or black for the background, red for apples, brown for the basket and green for the leaves.

Cut out apples from red paper. We cut the brown paper into 3 long strips and 2 a little shorter. From green paper cut out leaves for apples. First, we glue two apples, then 2 short strips on the side - the edges of the basket. Then we glue two strips, one on top of the apples, the other on the bottom. Glue on another apple. And the final touch is a strip from the basket in the middle.

First, cut out an oval, which will be the penguin. Then two black hearts are the wings, one is white, which will be the belly, two orange ones are the paws and one is pink as a decoration.

Now let the kid just gradually glue the details onto the background.

  • Goose from cotton wool and seeds

Goose materials:

  1. cotton wool,
  2. Colored orange napkins or white napkins and orange paint,
  3. Pumpkin seeds.

First, on paper, draw the outline of a goose.

We glue cotton wool along the contour, glue pumpkin seeds on the wing of the goose.

We tear the napkin into small pieces and make lumps out of them. We glue these lumps on the beak and paws of the goose.

Draw eyes with a felt-tip pen or marker.

  • Paper lamb

You can draw such a lamb yourself, cut out the details from cardboard and stick them on a stencil, or print a stencil and color it. Using this method, you can make other animals - a rabbit, a cat, a dog or an elephant.

We draw the outline of a peacock on cardboard with a simple pencil, cut it out.

We cut out several circles from colored paper (their number depends on how magnificent the tail will be), cut each of them into 4 parts.

From one such part we make an accordion, repeat the same with the rest and glue them into a magnificent tail.

  • Cactus

Necessary materials:

Paper: white for the background, green for the cactus, and red for the flowers and thorns.

In order to make such a cactus, you need to cut out: 3 large circles are the largest part of the cactus, which is located below in the image, 12 circles are slightly smaller in diameter and 3 small circles are the upper part of the cactus. We glue one large circle from below, on both sides of it we glue two medium circles on top. From the right middle circle upwards to the left, another middle circle “grows” and already from it upwards to the right - the smallest. When the base of the cactus is ready, we glue the rest of the corresponding size on these circles and bend them in half. We repeat this procedure for the third time and again bend the circles in the middle. We cut small spines from red paper and cut out flowers. Glue all the details on the cactus - and you're done!

  • Apple tree

From green and red paper we cut out about 20 green stripes and 10 red ones. On brown cardboard, draw the outline of a tree, cut it out and paste it on the background. We glue the ends of the strips together to form a circle, and glue it on the “tree trunk”.

  • Snowman

The technique for making a snowman is similar to the previous one: we cut out several long strips from white paper, connect their tips - we get a circle. We connect several such circles together to make a sphere - this is the body of a snowman. We do the same with the head, but for this we use the strips a little shorter. We make a scarf from a red strip and wrap it around the snowman's neck. With a felt-tip pen we draw eyes, a mouth and buttons. To make a carrot nose, cut out 1/4 of the circle as on a stencil and fold it into a cone. For the hat, cut out a circle and cut it like a sun.

  • Bouquet of flowers in quilling technique

At this age, children are already able to create more complex crafts, such as this bouquet.

Quilling is a technique for creating voluminous applications from twisted strips of paper.

To create such an application you will need:

  • 4 green strips of paper for stems
  • 10 shorter ones for leaflets,
  • 1 long pink for a bow,
  • 5 stripes of red, yellow and blue.

First, glue long strips-stems on the background, glue a bow on top. For shorter green strips, we glue the tips, squeeze the resulting circle a little to form an oval out of it - these are flower leaves. We twist the yellow, red and blue stripes to get flower buds and glue them on the craft.

  • Rose from lace doily

This craft looks very beautiful and is extremely easy to perform.

All you need to do is cut off the edge of the lace doily and carefully twist it into a flower, so that you get a rose.

  • Colored paper rose

We draw a spiral on red cardboard, cut a strip along the line and begin to twist it with our fingers until we get a bud.

The flower stem can be made from colored wire.

Cut leaves out of green paper and glue them to the stem. Rose is ready!

  • Fish - chessboard

This application is made without glue. To begin with, on colored paper, draw the outline of a fish, cut it out. We bend the fish in half and start making cuts in the middle. They begin after the head and end before the tail. Next, cut out strips of different colors and different lengths that form a fin.

We push a strip of the same color, for example, orange, in “waves” so that one part is above the incision and the other is below it. Likewise with other stripes. As a result, a “chessboard” pattern should form.

  • volumetric machine

Another rather interesting application, which is also very easy to perform.

All you need to do is print out the template, color the typewriter, cut it out and make two cuts on the protruding part at the end.

This article contains 25 of the most interesting applications and templates for DIY paper crafts for children. It's no secret that any form of creativity develops the thinking of the baby. Paper crafts are a great activity that develops perseverance and patience. In turn, working with scissors, glue, plasticine and cutting out the details of handicrafts develop fine motor skills of the hands.

These crafts are suitable for both home games and for kindergarten or classroom activities. The smallest children can make simple appliqués that require sticking a few figures on paper. From the age of 3-4, when children begin to master scissors, they can already cut simple objects out of paper and glue them together. Starting from school age, children are already able to do more complex crafts: for example, make quilling appliqués or cut out small figures with a lot of details.

Colored paper and thin cardboard are the first material from which children begin to make flat or three-dimensional figures. Children's paper crafts develop creativity, spatial thinking and fine motor skills of fingers. This is the simplest way to keep kids entertained in their spare time. They will be carried away by the creative process at any time of the year, especially in inclement weather. The ideas, schemes, instructions and templates offered in the article can be used not only by teachers, but also by parents of preschoolers and children of primary school age.

Making simple paper crafts on your own is fun and affordable. Every year, experts offer new ideas and work techniques that inspire exclusive decor in the interior.

Paper does not mean what can be done, thrown away and forgotten. If you prepare correctly and do everything extremely carefully, paper decor will not look cheap and trivial. From thin colored cardboard and thick office paper, you can make a lot of beautiful and useful household gizmos with your own hands. They are suitable for updating the design in the children's room or decorate the whole house for the holiday:

  • for the New Year;
  • for Easter;
  • by March 8;
  • for Valentine's Day;

  • Santa Claus, snowmen, hares and other winter characters;
  • voluminous and flat Christmas toys.

Children of different ages, girls and boys, are willingly involved in the work. Older students, having practice, on behalf of their mothers, become "instructors" for kids. They can make a complex base in the form of an accordion, fan, flower stem or supporting parts.

Tip: Teach your child to be careful when working with glue so as not to make stains and sagging. And before you cut something, let it measure with a ruler, mark and make marks with dots. The lines from the pencil should go into trim, and not into the main details. Under this condition, all work will be done masterfully, and not like beginners.

Knowing how to make spherical tulips, voluminous daffodils, roses and other flowers, older children are able to make a gift for their mother or grandmother with their own hands. One of the parents will give the child an idea and teach the basic skills of working with scissors, glue and thin cardboard.

A beautiful paper bouquet in an impromptu vase will stand on the window for more than one month, reminding you of the holiday. And for parents there will be another reason to praise their children for their patience and perseverance, to remind them when something does not work out.

It is better for beginners to master various techniques and craft according to the easiest schemes. Simplicity and affordability are the secret of the popularity of crafts made from the cheapest material.

You can start with children 3-4 years old or when the baby begins to show interest.

About how to make interesting paper crafts with your own hands using various techniques, our experts will share their secrets.

Invite your students to watch a video tutorial on creating three-dimensional paper flowers.

How to make easy paper crafts using various techniques?

  1. Making cardboard toys according to a template is the easiest way, especially if the elders do the difficult work for the baby.

Hares in the grass is a simple toy, it can be made "animated" if the characters are not fixed, but made in slots on sticks.

  • Cut out one hare (head and shoulders) as a template and multiply with a child who can circle the cardboard blank with a pencil several times. Do not forget to teach your baby to save paper - apply templates tightly to each other.
  • These bunnies will need the plastic "moving eyes" that are sold in the craft department.
  • On the cut out faces, it remains to glue the eyes, finish the nose and mouth. If you depict them in different ways, you get bunnies with a different facial expression.
  • The length of the ears can be varied or even screwed onto a pencil to lower.
  • Next, you need a strip of cardboard with grass cut out in 1 or more rows.
  • Behind the grass, it is necessary to cut holes along the width of the hare's body so that they "sit" tightly there. And the bunnies themselves are best attached to sticks or paper tubes in order to control.

The toy is ready, now it can be used - the hares will tell the child a story before going to bed on the edge of the back of the bed. At the same time, mom will move these bunnies in turn. To complete the plot, you can make a wolf or a fox so that the bunnies hide in the grass (we lower or take out the templates).

In a similar technique, do-it-yourself any flat animated crafts made of colored paper. For example, in the window of a house carved according to a template. You can put a doll or a storyteller there. Stories or poems for children can be read at night by a grandfather and a woman with a samovar (other characters). Use an easy plot, understood by children, with famous fairy tale characters.

A dog and a whole family of puppies will look out of the booth, which are driven out by a cat or a rooster. If you manage to make a tower of a “stone” castle, let a princess and a dragon appear in the window with your dialogues - children love to watch this.

  1. Twisted paper figures are an easy way to add dimension to paper crafts. Experts suggest mastering this at an elementary level, and in a few weeks the baby will make a whole animal world in the children's room.

The easiest way to make paper rings and cylinders:

  • Bunny.
  • Curl bird.
  • Chicken.
  • Kitten.
  • Puppy.
  • Frog.
  • Owl.

The paper cylinder is the torso, depending on the design of the toy, it can be positioned horizontally or vertically. Attach the ponytail and paws cut out of paper to this base. It is most responsible to make a head or a muzzle - flat or voluminous (your choice).

If you make birds with a child, then it is better to open the beak. Use chicken feathers or down - this will make the chicken or cockerel more attractive. Eyes can be drawn or glued, for this use:

  • halves of peas or beans;
  • "shifting eyes";
  • black allspice;
  • flat beads;
  • black sequins.

In addition to the toy itself, it will be interesting for children to make the “habitat” of the character out of paper: grass, a lake, a house, a hollow, a tree, etc. If you are not too lazy, in a few days there will be many crafts on one topic - a whole zoo or heroes of the fairy tale "Teremok" . This story can be memorized and shown in roles to guests on the child's birthday.

  1. Paper doll dress up is a popular game for girls. You can buy them ready-made or make your own. For those who do not know how to draw, it is easier to cut out Barbie in a swimsuit from the "coloring book" and stick it on a cardboard base.

Outfits are made from:

  • white paper and decorate with pencils or markers;
  • thin colored cardboard;
  • velvet paper;
  • foil;
  • magazines (illustrations with the texture of fabric or fur).

If a mother or a girl has artistic skills, then a fashionista doll can be drawn independently or copied from a sample you like. Such paper crafts are decorated with paper and fabric appliqué, feathers and flower herbarium. A little more difficult level - puffy dresses made of voluminous elements and pleated skirts made of folds like a fan.

Tip: Do not forget that each outfit should have holders (elements at the edges of the outfit) to cling to the shoulders and waist of the doll. An advanced level is to fix a flat magnet inside the cardboard template, and glue a light metal plate or a shoe stud without a hat under each outfit. Usually, for such help, they turn to dad or grandfather.

Add a Girlfriend and a Prince for the doll, a house or a whole street for walking. If we limit ourselves to only one "fashionista", she needs a box or cardboard box in any technique. It is no less interesting to weave a basket of twisted paper for a homemade doll and make a rug.

This is one of the easiest ways to create color patterns. Even a child of 3-4 years old will master the braided rug step by step.

With this technique, you can do:

  • basket;
  • bookmark for books;
  • patterned rug for paper toys.

Several color combinations have been developed. For those who are interested in what crafts can be made from paper, it is enough to master three:

  • monophonic weaving;
  • two-color;
  • multicolor patterns.

The lightest is braided, where stripes of two close or contrasting shades alternate.

For the doll rug you will need:

  • scissors,
  • glue;
  • ruler,
  • pencil;
  • 2 squares of colored paper.

We mark the back sides by 1-1.5 cm, but do not cut to the end - a centimeter border is needed along the edge. You should get one form with not completely cut edges on both sides, the second - on one side cut to the edge. These strips will simply run through the first pattern step by step. Then the ends need to be glued. Finish with a border, curly or openwork edges of a different color.

Rolled paper or newspaper toys

Another novelty for those who are not familiar with this technique.

True hand-made craftsmen use this technique to weave wicker and rattan furniture, and interior baskets from newspaper tubes. Easy crafts from twisted white paper start with blanks, then weave according to the pattern.

Rolled-up newspapers will also become products: after painting with an aerosol, letters and photos will not be visible, but the secondary material will become a useful decor for the apartment. According to the general scheme, for example, you can weave baskets for old flower pots and flower pots that need updating.

Another interesting idea is a stationery basket on the computer desk to put small items in there for general organization.

Newspapers are cut with a sharp knife and wound on a thin long knitting needle, after which the edges need to be fixed with glue. From one sheet of newspaper you get 4 tubes, if you fold it in half twice and cut it into 4 identical parts.

It is proposed to weave:

  • A vase for dry flower arrangements or paper flowers.
  • The casket.
  • Plafond for the kitchen.
  • Frames for family photos.
  • Stands for hot glasses.
  • Interior inserts, etc.

In Russia, this type of needlework is not yet as popular as abroad, but the number of admirers of the technique of working with paper is growing rapidly. This is the twisting of long narrow strips to create three-dimensional images. They are combined into three-dimensional images or pasted on postcards.

The examples show how to make paper crafts using this technique.

To begin with, make the easiest patterns with your child - a bird or a flower. It will be something new and surprising for him, then his fantasy will develop. First, children need to be told the density of the twist and the need for creases in certain places. Soon they will begin to understand and make new models from "paper filigree" on their own.

In this technique, they make full-fledged souvenirs or decorate the base. Most popular:

  • postcards and invitations;
  • photo frames;
  • earrings;
  • gift packages;
  • Christmas tree decorations;
  • interior decor.

In needlework stores, you can find ready-made quilling kits, cut colored stripes for do-it-yourself paper crafts, diagrams and templates.

Facing

Another original way to create three-dimensional figures, which requires the same soft paper templates. They are connected and unfolded, getting three-dimensional figures that can be used to decorate the interior or make a festive decor in the house.

Iris Folding

A new type of work with paper for Russia, which develops creative potential. In principle, nothing new - paper spirals are twisted in a special way, which are used to lay out patterns. If you carefully consider the pattern and shades, you get masterpieces that have a place in a frame on the wall.

Invite your daughter to make a young lady in a magnificent dress, but help complete the most difficult stages of work.

Papier mache

This is the oldest technique that periodically comes into fashion and is forgotten again. To some, it will seem new, but to someone it is known for the surprise balls that are hung up for the holidays. They are filled with sweets and various sweets, and the birthday boy must knock down with a bat, releasing goodies.

A lot of interesting paper crafts were made by craftsmen from glue and torn newspapers. Translated from French, papier mâché is “torn” or “chewed” paper. Applying layer after layer of glue-based scraps, it is easy to get any shape.

The same "surprise balloon" is easy to make by wrapping a large balloon with thin paper or newspaper and applying layers of papier-mâché. When the layer is ready, the ball is blown off, and the form remains. It is filled with sweets, and the hole is closed with the same “chewed paper” on glue. Decorated with colored blocks, foil stars on top. This is a popular entertainment at Mexican-style parties.

If durable figures and sculptures are created, gypsum or starch is added to the base. In this technique, it is easy to do anything - from fake hats for a party to decor items in the interior.

Piggy bank in the form of a pig can be made in this simple technique under the original painting and varnished. It can be filled for years, and then broken, and with this money the family can go to the sea.

Layer-by-layer pasting of an object - “mashing”. To remove the finished papier-mâché, you need to carefully cut it, and close the seams using the same technique. Sometimes they make a liquid mass based on shredded paper, which is squeezed out and made into a shape.

Toys based on "accordion"

For children, this is a more difficult level, but a great base for the torso of crafts. Two strips of paper are placed in a square on top of each other alternately at a right angle until an elastic accordion comes out. It remains to glue the paws, tail and muzzle of funny animals to this base.

Try to make easy three-dimensional paper crafts with your child: a caterpillar, frogs, or a arched, yawning cat hiding in the grass.

Paper origami is the most popular technique for children's creativity

Many models do not involve working with glue and scissors - the figures are folded according to a certain pattern.

Advanced level - modular origami of triangular elements. Children with spatial imagination lay out entire zoos and cities in this way. Start with the simplest by watching a video tutorial on how to make paper crafts using the modular origami technique:

To consolidate the acquired knowledge, we propose to do:

    Older children can be offered to master the quilling technique, this is when a spring is rolled from thin strips of colored paper, using a knitting needle, pencil or thin stick, and then various compositions for postcards are made from these fragments. Trains fine motor skills and perseverance.

    Volumetric crafts from colored paper

    Despite the fact that the paper is flat, you can make various volumetric crafts from it. For garlands and postcards, as a rule, several identical parts are cut out, folded in half, and then glued together in halves.

    From the strips, you can make three-dimensional figures glued together according to the ring principle.

    And another type of voluminous paper crafts is to print ready-made templates of 3D shapes, cut and glue them according to the instructions. Now they even sell entire albums with templates for voluminous paper figures, there are also detailed instructions on how to make crafts.

    Colored paper garlands

    Crafts from paper rings

    Remember how we made long New Year's garlands from rings as children? It turns out that from these rings you can make not only a chick, but also very interesting crafts: fruits, crowns of trees, hair for dolls drawn on a piece of paper, make voluminous snakes, lambs and other animals.

    Colored paper postcards

    For the holidays, you can easily make various postcards from colored paper. Children 2-3 years old can make simple postcards in the form of an application, with older children you can already do complex work with volumetric elements. Here, for example, is how to make a three-dimensional postcard with daisies from colored paper.

    Volumetric paper card with daisies

    For crafts you will need:

    • Colored paper, a sheet of cardboard, as well as a plain white sheet of office paper;
    • Glue stick;
    • Children's safety scissors.

    First of all, you need to cut strips of white paper. To make the strips even, mark the same width, and then draw the cut lines with a ruler and a simple pencil.

    Now, cut out circles from yellow paper - these will be the middle of our daisies. We return to the white stripes, we will make chamomile petals from them. We glue each strip with two ends in the form of a loop, and then glue it to the middle, which we made yellow.

    When the chamomile is ready, you can cut out several leaves from green paper. For a postcard you will need 3-5 daisies. We make the card itself from any sheet of colored paper, fold it in half, and paste our daisies on it.

    You can add a postcard with a butterfly. Butterfly cut out of bright paper. Butterfly templates are easy to find on the Internet. To make the butterfly also acquire volume, bend it in half and stick it on a postcard.

    Postcard-application with a rabbit

    The next postcard will be with a bunny, it can be made as a gift for Easter. From the materials you will need all the same, as well as doll eyes. By the way, I’ll tell you a little lower how you can make puppet eyes yourself.

    According to the template, we cut out all the necessary elements of the postcard from paper: a muzzle of a bunny, two ears made of white paper. From pink paper, cut out a nose and a smaller silhouette of the ears. Cut out grass from green paper.

    We collect the figure of a bunny on a sheet of brightly colored paper. We glue puppet eyes on the bunny and draw antennae with a felt-tip pen or a black ballpoint pen.

    And now let's digress a little, I'll tell you how you can make puppet eyes for children's crafts on your own. They are made from an ordinary tablet plate, two cells are cut out, and beads, small beads or peppercorns can be used as pupils.

    Origami

    And the last type of colored paper crafts is origami. For beginners and small children, there are simple schemes for folding various shapes; for older children, you can suggest doing something more complicated.

    For origami, it is best to use double-sided colored paper so that the pale side of the sheet does not “shine”. If your kid is seriously interested in this art, then you can purchase special paper for origami.

    Tools you will need:

    • orchid pattern;
    • desktop printer;
    • scissors;
    • glue;
    • paper.
    STEP 1

    Print and cut out all the orchid petals that are indicated in the template in the selected color.

    Then print, cut out the center of the orchid on the second colored paper, the sheet template on the green paper. Cut out two sets of petals, one center, two leaves for each flower.

    STEP 2

    Use the edge of the scissors to twist each petal and the center piece. Fold the leaves in half. Fold each petal back to form a bowl shape. Roll both sides on the leaves.

    STEP 3

    Attach each layer with hot glue. The largest of the three petal shapes is placed on the bottom with the curved petals up, then glue the two-piece petal in the center and the central part on top of the two layers of petals.

    STEP 4

    Attach the sheets by flipping the flower over and placing two sheets at the back.

    STEP 5

    To make a hair clip, bracelet, or gift wrap, glue a fastener to the back of the flower.

    STEP 6

    Attach the stem. For an orchid on a stem, bend the end of the wire at an angle. Cut out a small leaf shape, making a one-third cut down the center, and pass the corner of the wire into this crease. Glue the petal and wire to the back of the orchid.

    STEP 7

    You can use ready-made orchids not only in decor, but also in order to make a gift, a bouquet, wear them on a sweater or in your hair.

    flower garlands

    Get in the mood for playfulness with these easy-to-make 3D Paper Flowers.

    You will need:

    • glue gun;
    • scissors;
    • glue stick;
    • decorative tape;
    • colored paper.
    STEP 1

    Choose colors

    Choose matching colors for a balanced color scheme. For a monochromatic approach, consider layered hues and shades of a single color. For a more multi-colored effect, mix together those shades that differ in contrast.

    For a more feminine look, stick with muted colors and pastels mixed with neutrals like taupe, tan, or soft grey.

    STEP 2

    Fold in half

    Use square sheets, as rosebuds are perfectly round. Rectangular papers should be cut to a square state. The first step in this process is to fold each piece of square paper in half.

    STEP 3

    Fold in a quarter

    After everything has been evenly folded in half, fold it again into a quarter.

    STEP 4

    Turn a square into a circle

    After folding the quarter, use scissors to round off the edge.

    STEP 5

    Expand the circle

    Expand to open the form. If you managed to create a perfect sphere, it's time to move on to the next step; however, if the result is oblong or oval, it is better to repeat the previous step until a perfect circle is created.

    STEP 6

    Starting at the outer edge and working your way to the center, cut out solid circles in a spiral pattern.

    STEP 7

    Form the center of the flower

    As you reach the end of the circle when cutting the spirals, leave an oval tab at the end about 2 cm in diameter. This is the part of each paper bud that will hold the spirals together with the glue.
