  1. Index of resistance to internal pressure SDR. This is the ratio of the diameter of a polyethylene pipe to the thickness of its walls. HDPE water pipes with a lower SDR are more durable.

There are two types of connections for water polyethylene pipes:

  • permanent connections. Welding equipment is used here, welding is carried out by butt or electrofusion method.
    This method of connecting polyethylene pipes is used if the pipes are planned to be operated under pressure.
  • detachable connections. They are bell-shaped or flanged with elastic seals. These connections have found their application for the installation of non-pressure plumbing systems.

Rules for laying polyethylene pipes

When starting to lay polyethylene pipes, it is necessary to take into account the thickness of the soil layer that will be located on top of the pipe. This layer should not contain third-party objects and large stones that can damage the pipe.

Directly under the pipeline, it is required to lay a substrate of fine gravel or sand. Its layer should be 10 cm thick or more. Gravel or sand must be well compacted.
