How to make a spinner from improvised means. Spinner, fidget - what kind of toy is it, where to buy and how to make it yourself? Alternative - no glue

The Rubik's Cube is already in the past. Today's kids are obsessed with pocket sized toys that spin around. Spinners are so captivating for children that some schools have already banned bringing them with them. On the other hand, toys help relieve stress and calm children who have a special temperament.

Spinners are collectible now and they are something of a status. No child wants to show up to school without the most basic play device. If you're on a budget and want it to have a great toy that really stands out from the crowd, there's an easy solution: you can make your own spinner.

There are several different ways to make a spinner, such as cutting it out of cardboard or using old recycled lighters. However, if you try this at home, be aware that the spinner may cause damage to your skin. With that said, there are simple methods. The choice is yours.

How to make a spinner using plastic bottle caps

For this you need: 4 plastic caps, a box of cereal, a knife, super glue, a plastic mug, paint or glitter

Collect four bottle caps. Take four plastic caps from used bottles that are the same size. Glue them together so that all sides meet the middle cap, and then crease the opening in the middle cap of the bottle with a toothpick.

The weight of the adhesive inside the caps. Some prefer to stick pennies on the inside of the caps for extra weight, but household items like magnets will work the same way.

Replace bearings with paper. Place the bottle cap over the plastic cup and cut out the circle. Once the circle is cut out, poke a hole the size of a toothpick and place the plastic circle on the inside of the bottle cap to line up the empty space. Then take a dime draw 10 circles on the box and cut them out.

Make sure all holes line up with each other; this will be an important step towards proper rotation of the spinner.

Glue the circles together. Stick your toothpick in each circle and glue five cardboard circles together, lining up the small holes. Take two more penny circles, and this time avoid punching a hole through them and glue each circle on one side of each five.

Attach all parts together with glue. Take a toothpick and one stack of cardboard circles and glue the toothpick in the middle. Attach a toothpick to the center of a medium bottle cap and snip off the end. Leave some toothpick on the opposite end and glue that end in the middle of another stack of cardboard circles to act as a bearing. Your spinner should now spin like the original.

Decorate your creation. Now that your spinner is almost ready, paint or adding glitter to your toy will complete the job.

How to make a spinner using skateboard bearings

Materials needed: plain bearings, knife, thick rubber band, super glue.

  1. Assemble three skateboard bearings. Take the three skateboard bearings you chose and align them together horizontally. Take the middle bearing and pry out the middle tread with a knife to expose the wheel inside.
  2. Glue them together. Glue the three bearings together in a straight line with super glue and wait until they dry.
  3. Cover with rubber band. Wrap a thick rubber band around the outer edge of the three support bearings for support, and decorate the rubber band if you want to add some character to your new toy.
  4. Can do spinner alternative, which is more like a traditional spinner. You need to assemble four bearings for a skateboard and follow all the same steps. The middle bearing will have an open wheel and the other three should be glued proportionately around the center.
  5. Once your feeder is complete, place your thumb and middle finger in the center of the toy and let go of life's tension.

How to create a paper spinner

What do you need for this:

  • Cardboard.
  • Scissors.
  • Safety pin.
  • Toothpick.
  • Glue.
  • Stickers.
  1. Cut the cardboard into four small circles and one propeller shape.
  2. Poke holes in the center of each of the circles and propeller with a pin or pointer.
  3. Apply a patch of glue to the back of one of the circles and insert a toothpick through the hole. Add a second circle to the toothpick and press down on the pieces of paper to seal the glue and attach the pieces to a toothpick.
  4. Add propeller to toothpick.
  5. Repeat step 3 with the two remaining circles, leaving about 1/4 inch between the first circle set and this one (the propeller needs room to rotate).
  6. Remove the extra ends of the toothpick from the spinner and decorate with stickers.

Now, a previously unknown anti-stress toy, a spinner, has become very popular among young people. Buying it is not difficult, especially since it is now available in any store. But why spend money, because it is much cheaper to make a do-it-yourself spinner at home. A spinner was made according to a simple scheme: a base on which a bearing and a load that increases speed are attached.

To make a do-it-yourself spinner, we need materials:
- 20 wooden sticks (there are plenty of them in coffee machines);
- bearing size 8 × 22 × 7 mm. (the best option would be a ceramic bearing, it is light, which will contribute to the long rotation of the spinner);
- 12 coins of 50 kopecks;
- four small bolts and nuts in length and diameter;
- two metal buttons (ideal from old jeans or pushpins with large hats)

Instruments:
- clerical and ordinary sharp knife or awl;
- universal glue;
- sandpaper;
- paint in a can (aerosol);
- ruler or tape measure.

Making a do-it-yourself spinner at home

Step 1: we make a base blank from coffee sticks.

To do this, take a couple of sticks and cut them in half lengthwise, for a total of four sticks.

We take five more sticks and lay them tightly to each other, lubricating their surface with universal glue. On top of them, in the second layer, in the center we lay four whole sticks and two cut sticks on the sides. We lay the next couple of layers, in the same way as the first two. We received a blank of four balls of wooden sticks.

Step 2: making the base
On the edge of the workpiece we place three stacks of coins and a bearing. Decide on the size of the spinner. We will have a 90 x 90 mm square as a basis. Cut off the semicircular edges to make a square with the appropriate dimensions.

We draw on the square an isosceles triangle whose sides are 90mm. To make the triangle even, we draw 90mm segments from the middle of one of the sides of the square and connect the edges of these segments.

We draw medians from all three sides of the triangle, the point of their intersection will be the center of the spinner, the place where we insert the bearing. We measure 25mm from the extreme points of the medians and mark it with a bold stroke, in these places we will place weights from stacks of coins.

We lay the bearings and coins according to the marked marks on the workpiece and circle them with a simple pencil. Next, using a knife or an awl, we make openings, expanding them with a clerical knife. Do not get carried away because the bearing and weights should be tightly fixed in these openings.

We cut out a triangle from the square and process it in the form of a spinner.

From the middle along all sides, we measure the triangles by 10 mm and mark with a pencil. On the medians, we put points at a distance of 70 mm on all sides from the middle. From the midpoints we got triangles that need to be cut out.

Step 3: finishing touches
Using glue, glue three stacks of coins, four in each. When we sand the spinner with sandpaper, cover it with paint, insert the coins into the pre-made openings.

While the paint dries, in order not to waste time, we will make another spinner from the remaining blanks.

How to make a spinner of a different design

Step 4: we make a second spinner from the remnants of the workpiece.
We take the previously cut wooden blank (remainder) and make a hole in the center for the bearing. We draw an arbitrary shape of the future spinner, taking into account the balance. We will go through the edges with sandpaper. For the bolts, we make four holes that we screw and fasten with nuts, but after we cover the spinner with paint and it dries well.

Despite the fact that the peak of popularity of the anti-stress toy, fashionable in 2016-2017, began to subside, many are still looking for ways to create an original little thing that will help to have fun on long trips, long lines or in difficult life situations. Naturally, we are talking about a do-it-yourself spinner. How to create it at home, and what you need for this - more in our material.

What are spinners for and how do they work?

Each twist dismantles the individuality of its owner.

fidget spinner is a rotating flat or three-dimensional toy that is popular with adults and children around the globe. Its main purpose is to occupy and distract . Someone thinks that spinner useful , because thanks to him you can distract from everyday and psychological problems, relieve irritability, get rid of excitement. Others claim that thanks to the turntable you can focus on the right things, distracting from everything superfluous. Be that as it may, the glory of the toy needs no explanation, because literally everyone loves it.

There are many forms of the so-called hand twister. It will depend not only on the invented design, but also on the component parts available in stock. To understand the specifics of the work when creating a do-it-yourself spinner, you need to know just a few important points.

The obligatory traditional elements of the spinner are:

  • bearing;
  • wings.

The most important part of a spinner is the bearing. It will depend on him how long and quickly the toy will spin, as well as its soundtrack and vibrations emitted. In many homemade toys, bearings are often replaced with primitive toothpick designs. , which also allow the wings of the toy to spin.

Wings, or petals, can be from two to six , but often you can find two or three petals. It is these elements of the spinner that give room for imagination, allow you to embody bold ideas, show individuality.

Unusual design of one of the most primitive forms of toys - round.

The so-called spinners made of plastic, metal, wood, cardboard and many other materials. Often materials are combined. Recently, plastic or metal toys with luminous wings.

Products made of plastic, wood and copper.

The design of many do-it-yourself spinners is amazing. Many decorate their toys with interesting engravings, illustrations, badges. . The model of a small spinner that fits in the palm of your hand allows you to characterize its owner without further ado.

Today, a spinner can be bought in almost any store. There are budget models, and there are expensive original or even designer ones. But in order to stand out from the crowd, you need to make a certain effort, for example, to make an original thing with your own hands for yourself or your child, relative, friend (for example, as a gift). If a kid asked for such a fashionable product as a spinner, so much the better, because he can be involved in the creative process, starting with choosing a model and ending with the creation of a memorable toy.

General instructions before starting work

Before you start working on your spinner, you need to have an idea of what exactly the person wants to get as a result. So that the result does not disappoint, you need to work according to a simple scheme.

  • Stage number 1 - we select a model and design

Since there are countless possible models of spinners, and we are all different, and we like different things, for starters, you can choose the right model from the simple ones. This is necessary so that the process does not turn into a punishment. Or you can go the other way and choose the most original model from a special material with an unusual shape. This option is suitable for those who have already tried to create things with their own hands.

Do-it-yourself hand spinner options.
  • Stage number 2 - draw and draw

To make it work, you should take care of the drawing on a scale of 1: 1. You can draw a future spinner model on paper, or you can search for finished drawings on the vast expanses of the Internet.

Drawings and blanks.
  • Stage number 3 - we prepare tools

Now that the creator has decided on the design, and the schematic image is ready, you can begin to prepare all the necessary materials.

The first step is to purchase (or remove from old equipment) a bearing. It can be made of metal or ceramic. The most acceptable option is a diameter of 2 mm. To ensure a pleasant pastime in the future, professionals advise clean the part from grease in a "bath" of gasoline before it is in the toy. Why clean the bearing from grease? It makes the rotation slower, besides, it stains hands, clothes and furniture.

In addition to the prefabricated parts of the spinner, you will also need the following tools:

  1. Construction marker (pen, pencil, regular felt-tip pen);
  2. Scissors;
  3. Stationery knife;
  4. Elements of decorative trim (optional);
  5. Glue;
  6. Special tools for creating the wings we need (tools for working with wood or metal).

Preparatory stage.
  • Stage number 4 - create a spinner

When the preparation is over, you can safely start making a toy with your own hands. Next, consider several popular options for creating spinners from various materials in several ways.

Varieties of twisters for hands created from improvised means.

Paper and cardboard spinner without bearing

The most popular option for those who are in no hurry to run after the bearing and cut squiggles out of metal or wood is to make the first simple spinner out of cardboard and paper. Doing it yourself is really easy, and if you show a little more imagination, then a simple cardboard box can turn into an original canvas for your favorite icons or drawings.

Tools for work:

  1. ruler;
  2. compass;
  3. pencil;
  4. pen;
  5. scissors;
  6. stationery knife;
  7. cardboard;
  8. glue;
  9. toothpick;
  10. nut - 2 pcs.

You can watch the video step by step:

With plastic lids

Another simple way to create a do-it-yourself spinner, which will take a little more time, is a model from ordinary bottle caps. By the way, this method also does not require bearings. Here is a little step by step guide.

Tools for work:

  1. caps - 4-6 pcs.;
  2. plasticine (you can kinetic sand);
  3. glue gun;
  4. glue stick;
  5. lighter;
  6. awl;
  7. stationery knife;
  8. toothpick;
  9. scissors.

Working process:

  • Fill three covers (or more if the spinner has more wings) almost to the top with plasticine. We fix it with a layer of glue from the gun, which should fill the lids to the top.
  • The main cap remains without filler. In it, we make a hole with an awl in the very center. We glue plasticine covers on the sides to this central part of the future spinner. It is important to do this at an equal distance from each other.
  • Take a stick of glue and cut off two equal parts - about 1 cm each.
  • We break the toothpick in the center. We insert it into the central cover and attach pieces of a silicone rod to the ends so that it is convenient to hold the piece of wood.
  • Do-it-yourself spinner is ready!

Wooden with bearing

A wooden spinner is the most pleasant and affordable option that you can create with your own hands. A real labor lesson for adults and children!

Tools for work:

  • Glue gun;
  • Bearing 2 mm;
  • Plywood sheet, thickness 5mm;
  • Several coins;
  • Drill;
  • Jigsaw manual;
  • Clamp;
  • Scissors;
  • Sandpaper;
  • Pencil or building marker;
  • Ready-made spinner template.

Working process:

  1. Print out the diagram and cut it out. We fix it on a plywood sheet and circle it. It is necessary to mark the places in each of the circles where there will be holes.
  2. We drill additional holes on the sides of the circles with the door, allowing you to cut out a beautiful circle figure from the inside of the wing.
  3. The future spinner needs to be cut out of plywood with a jigsaw. Then carefully process the edges and surface with sandpaper to a smooth surface.
  4. The bearing must be inserted into the hole prepared for it in the center. In case of difficulty, you can use a hammer and drive a metal element into a wooden one.
  5. The wings of the "twist" need to be weighted - for this you will need coins. You can glue the weights for each hole in the following order: a five-ruble coin, then two, and again five, as shown in the video.
  6. You can cover it with solid color paint, or you can decorate it in another interesting and original way - there is room for imagination, which is so nice to realize with your own hands.

Video tutorials on creating spinners

To get comfortable with creating a do-it-yourself spinner, you can check out some video tutorials on this topic. The conditions of creation can be very different, as well as materials and styles, but a home spinner can turn out to be no worse than a factory one.

Here is another way to create paper spinners, this time in the shape of a shuriken :

Minimalistic spinner made of bearings and clamps:

And here is a great version of the "turntable" for girls:

Spinner, spinner .. Everyone seemed to have gone crazy. What it is? Where did it come from? And most importantly for what? Today we will try to figure it out ... It was invented by one person. Now the whole world is going crazy, people are buying, kids are loving it.

When I was little, I really liked to spin the top. You take out some bigger gear from an old watch and start turning it - who has longer? Familiar? You sit and watch .... Remember your feelings in childhood.

Approximately the same sensations arise when I rotate the spinner. Spin and look. Yes, and a spinner is essentially a spinning top. Only the top is on the axis. A spinner is twisted in a horizontal plane. The Anglo-Saxons like to use the word "spin" (rotate, turn).

They have "spin" everywhere - from quantum mechanics and physics - to this simple thing. Terribly simple. And we have a top, and many other analogies ..

Who rewound the cassette with a pencil, that spinner does not buy!

Time does not stand still. Our children no longer know about all sorts of tape cassettes and spinning tops. Here's a newfangled thing. And there is every reason to think that the spinner will soon turn into an element of style. Maybe soon we will see spinners not only with LEDs, but also gold, with rhinestones, maybe even with diamonds ..

It's such an interesting time right now, you can expect anything. If there is a demand for platinum spinners, I will not be surprised. Online stores are already selling products for 3,000 rubles with might and main ...

Spinner - what is it, what is it for and why is it needed?

Structurally, the spinner is very simple. Imagine a star with a bearing in the center. Star petals are balanced. In each beam, you can also insert a bearing. And twist yourself. Let's add brightness with the help of bright colors and, behold, the spinner is ready.

It is necessary, of course, for entertainment and during idleness. If you are in the "trend", then of course, in order to remain fashionable and stylish. Initially, it was conceived as an anti-stress sedative. Which is true. It can be twisted in different ways - on the table, in the fingers, on one finger ... While it is spinning, you watch how it does it, and at that moment your head becomes completely empty ... And this is rest, friends. Let for a minute, but rest.

All your attention is switched to the spinning petals. Maybe for this reason, in our age of stress, this simple children's toy has become so popular all over the planet ... Who knows? Children are very fond of spinners for their brightness and for this very thing ... Now many sellers are serving this attractive product as a kind of "remedy". Here's what the sellers say:

  • develops motor skills and increases the sensitivity of the fingers. Particularly useful are products for restoring the working capacity of the hands after various injuries and fractures of the hand;
  • the device has an anti-stress effect: it helps to concentrate, eliminates excitement, relieves a nervous emotional state and irritability;
  • the toy will be a great way to take time when traveling in transport or while waiting in a long line;
  • stimulates the development of manual precision.

So, if you want to relax and get an expensive exclusive product, then go ahead to the online store. I am sure that we are very eagerly awaited there. But Russia is such a unique country. Our man cannot sometimes reconcile himself to go out and buy this simple thing. Our man does it himself.

Because when you have made a Thing yourself (even the simplest one), there is a completely different attitude towards it. It’s always a pity to throw away such a thing, for example ... By the way, when you make something yourself, it also sometimes relaxes and distracts. We will make a spinner with our own hands to be distracted and experiment 🙂

How to make a do-it-yourself spinner from improvised materials?

Materials friends, can be very different. But the principle is the same - in the center is a bearing. In order to ensure long and easy rotation, the toy must be balanced, and the bearing must not contain thick grease. Here is one of the production options:

You need to buy four bearings (three will be as counterweights)

You will need a drill for wood, (perk) with the same diameter as the bearings:

Still - we need the material itself, from which the case is made. He can be anything. The main requirement is strength, and easy processing.

We mark the material with a pencil like this:

We continue to rotate the drill (the same spinner):

Let's make additional holes with a regular drill (for an intricate design):

The workpiece should be drilled like this:

And before fitting the bearings into it, look something like this (if you can work beautifully, you should try to somehow round the corners):

It is necessary to prepare the central bearing, remove the factory grease from it.

After removing the protective covers from the clip, rinse it in gasoline or acetone:

Then you need to use a suitable glue (superglue does not glue all plastic!) Epoxy or another, carefully glue the bearings into place.

Something like this:

Here is such a brutal, "masculine", harsh, spinner turned out.

Watch the video of the production from start to finish:

As you can see, everyone is experimenting as best they can :) :). There is no limit to perfection! There would be a desire. Both samples spin well. More effort goes into good design. Hooray!

How to fix a spinner if it is broken, rusted?

According to my feelings, the purchased spinner cannot be broken. The bearing is pressed into a metal housing; counterweights are glued or pressed. The weakest link is the bearing. It can rust if children drop it and rinse it in water.

It is clear that if the spinner is homemade, as in the example, we simply lubricate and develop the bearing until all the rust comes off. We re-glue the bearings that have flown out with normal glue. In severe cases, we use a rust converter and lubricate until the previous “driving” qualities return. In the case of a purchased spinner, carefully remove the cap or cap, which are always present there:

We apply liquid household lubricant for locks to the clip and so on. If there is a lot of rust, you can throw it into a jar of oil, let it lie down .. That's the whole repair.

Paper origami spinner - without bearings and glue, how to make?

In the wake of the general enthusiasm for the toy, experiments continue. Someone again connected two different directions and they began to make spinners out of paper. By the way, just such crafts develop motor skills and everything else in children.

Therefore, you can captivate your child just by making such original things. From paper, it will be safe for the child. True, a little disposable. Color paper:

Action one:

Action two:

Action three:

Action four, axis:

Action five, the same “bearing” made of paper, which confirms that the Japanese are creative people 🙂

To understand what's what, watch the video.

Beautiful. And it's fun to do those things.

How to make a do-it-yourself spinner from plastic bottle caps

Our people are talented and resourceful. All in the economy! We don't throw anything away! We choose brighter and newer!

Everything is simple, the principle is the same, the material is different.

We do it once:

We do two. It is necessary to drill and clean a hole at the bottom of the cover, and glue:

We glue only three corks, the rest are used to align and symmetrically the first three. It should turn out something like this:

It is necessary to bring everything into a divine form and then begin assembling the product. We also rinse the bearings in acetone and then assemble them.

When everything is inserted, glued, check:

It works.. 🙂 But, friends, this is the easiest way. There are quite exotic but interesting ways to make spinners from plastic corks. Watch the video.

As they say, there would be a desire. It remains to be said that in any creative process there is no limit to perfection. Make a spinner out of wood, metal, cardboard, concrete..

As long as ball bearings are produced, we can do anything. Any creative work gives pleasure to those who do it. Do it with pleasure, and then everything will turn out well for you. See you on the blog pages. If anyone has links to interesting options for a homemade spinner, please leave in the comments.

On the Internet, I found that spinners are made from unnecessary bearings.

What is a Spinner?

At the end of 2016, a new trend swallowed up America. A little more and our countries will also not be silent from the English word Spinner, literally - a spinner. They write on the Internet that this is a very effective tool for self-regulation, that it should be used to relieve feelings of anxiety and to calm down, to reduce stress and excitement. Also, the toy will help increase tactile sensitivity and develop fine motor skills of the fingers, which in turn contributes to concentration, the development of intellectual abilities, and memory strengthening. In short, a spinner is an anti-stress.
After looking at various options, I came up with and drew my own. And now I want to share with you instructions for creating a spinner.

We make a spinner with our own hands

Print and cut out the drawing of the spinner.

Glue the cut stencil to a piece of 10 mm plywood. The thickness of the plywood should be equal to or slightly greater than the width of the bearing. Using a jigsaw, cut the workpiece along the contour. At this stage, the main thing is to carefully cut out the concave surfaces, because in the future they are the most difficult to process. It is also desirable to cut curved surfaces as close to the contour as possible, but since it is easier for them to get close with any tool, this is not so critical.

To increase the moment of inertia, it is necessary to provide weights. The easiest option, in my opinion, are coins glued to each other. For 10 mm plywood, 8 10-kopeck coins must be glued together. Since 2 outer coins will be decorated, for now we are making weights from 6 coins.

We level the inner surfaces of the workpiece with a drill. The outer surface is carefully and quickly brought to the contour with a grinder with a grinding wheel. All remaining irregularities are removed manually with sandpaper.

We place and drill centering holes. First, we drill holes for the bearing and weights on the tree. I use a 608 bearing with a 22mm OD, so I drill the center hole with a 20mm pen. And the diameter of a 10-kopeck coin is 17.4, so I drill the outer holes with a pen with a diameter of 16 mm. In order not to damage the outer layer, it is necessary to drill holes to the middle, and then, having unfolded the workpiece, continue on the other side. You can use any bearing you like, it is not necessary to take the same one as mine.

With a drill, we bring all the holes to the required diameters. The main thing is that the bearing has an interference fit, otherwise it will have to be glued. The holes for the weights need to be made so that coins can easily pass through them.
To facilitate the design, we will remove the rounding radii around the entire perimeter of the workpiece. I did not foresee this moment in advance, so I had to apply the borders manually. In the new version of the drawing, this defect has already been corrected. If someone wants to make their spinner even lighter, then you can cut the blank for this very contour.
Having completely finished with grinding, we proceed to puttying. It is necessary to cover the part with putty in order to completely hide all the irregularities, and also so that after painting it is not clear what the spinner is made of.
While the putty dries, prepare the top coins for painting. Gently, in order not to tear off the skin from the fingers, we grind the top layer from 6 coins. The easiest way to do this is from the nominal side. You might as well clamp the coins halfway in a vise and go through them with a file, and then turn them over and go through them again.
In two layers, paint the coins with a yellow spray. Let the paint dry a little between coats. When the putty dries, we grind off the unnecessary layer with fine-grained sandpaper. It is also necessary to remove all putty from the surface of the holes, otherwise when the bearing and coins are pressed in, it will fall off and an unpainted layer will be visible.

Having completely processed the part, we cover it in two layers with black spray paint.

After all the parts have dried, proceed to the assembly. On the one hand, we insert 3 decorative coins into the case. On the other hand, we apply super-glue from the press-in weighting agents. In this case, the main thing is that the first coin does not fly out, otherwise you can stain the case with glue, as well as scratch it. We apply more superglue and press in the remaining coins, while holding the coins on the other side.
Before installing the bearing in its place, we insert a wooden chop for holders into its inner hole. The chopstick should fit snugly and protrude from the body by 1 millimeter on each side. Press the bearing into the seat.
In principle, the spinor is ready and works fine, but you need to hide the bearing with something. I made these plastic medallions and glued them to the chopstick. If you want to do something similar, you can cut two disks out of plywood. Well, if you are too lazy to bother, you can use two coins or buttons as holders.
Before testing the spinner, be sure to let the glue dry completely.
That's it, the spinner is ready!

It turned out to be a very original trinket to keep your hands busy with something. In addition, I can say with confidence that neither you nor your friends have ever seen anything like this before, so you can surprise with such a thing and, albeit not for long, attract the attention of others. I, in turn, am pleased that I found some use for an ownerless bearing. Later, I’ll probably make a two-bladed spinner out of the second bearing. If you are interested in this topic, write about it in the comments and I will definitely make another instruction.
