How to make a fragrance resistant for an apartment at home. DIY essential oil fragrance

Today's DIY post, I decided to make an aromatic diffuser with sticks. Firstly, it looks beautiful in the interior, secondly, the thing is useful, because it smells good, thirdly, I love experiments and all sorts of creative undertakings.

Once upon a time I had such a purchased diffuser. It cost quite decently, like most of these flavors. True, he quickly evaporated. Moreover, today I am very, very interested in what he evaporated there and how harmful it was. In general, I decided to make such a flavoring with my own hands, for this reason it will not be expensive in terms of cash costs, but at the same time it will be absolutely natural and harmless.

Naturally, I read everything on the net that could be found on this topic. And through trial and error, I came up with my own recipe, which I can present on the blog, along the way talking about the pros and cons.

There are three options for making such a flavor:
- on alcohol (immediately swept aside - quickly evaporates);
- DPG (dipropylene glycol), also alcohol, but diatomic (they say it will also be good on it, but I also brushed aside, because it needs to be obtained somewhere specially);
- on base oil (any oil, base, baby or even ordinary vegetable, most importantly, it should be odorless) - that's where I stopped.

So, you will need:

  • a small (100-250 ml) vessel (vase), always with a narrow neck (not plastic);
  • vegetable oil, base, and even better baby oil (it is lighter and colorless), always ODOR-FREE;
  • vodka or alcohol;
  • essential oil (one or more);
  • reed or rattan sticks 15-30 cm long, depending on the height of the vase. Bamboo barbecue sticks, which can be bought at almost any hardware store for a penny, are great for this role.
I took vegetable oil, leftover essential oils (I like citrus scents with a little mint added), bought a pack of bamboo sticks and a small, completely cheap glass gravy decanter in a nearby hardware store.

Preparing the mixture:

The mixture is prepared according to the principle of 70% base oil + 30% essential oil (mono or a mixture of your favorite oils).

For better evaporation, add vodka or alcohol to the mixture (a tablespoon of vodka per 100 ml of oil).

I saw numerous recipes on the net, where 30-40 drops of essential oil are added per 100 ml of the base, I tried to do it that way initially, but there is no aroma at all, if only I put my nose directly into the bottle. But the goal is different! Therefore, the essential oil is added about 1/3 of the total volume of the mixture. Essential oil for these purposes does not have to be expensive.

The volume of the mixture depends on the chosen vase.

How does it work:

🌟 The sticks should be immersed in the aromatic mixture for 1/3 of the length.

🌟 The more sticks, the more intense the aroma.

🌟 To enhance the aroma, the sticks need to be turned over regularly.

🌟 If the mixture is exhausted, then you can still add essential oil.

Nuances:

  1. If these are barbecue sticks, then it is better to cut off the sharp tips, since a porous absorbent surface is needed. I did this with cat nail clippers.
  2. There will be no intense smell in principle, you should count on a very light aroma. Moreover, constantly being in the room, you are unlikely to feel it very much. For example, on the first day, when I just mixed the cherished mixtures, I didn’t feel anything at all, because ... I sniffed the ether in the most concentrated form.
  3. After about two weeks, I replaced the sticks (because I changed the vase and, accordingly, the sticks needed a different length) and after a while I turned them over, and, oh, a miracle, a much brighter aroma appeared. Therefore, I came to the conclusion that, perhaps, the mixture should have been insisted, and the sticks should be added later. Or perhaps they are clogged with a mixture that has already weathered, then they need to be changed regularly.
  4. After use, the sticks can be dried, beautifully tied with a ribbon and put in a closet as a flavoring agent.
  5. It is better to place the diffuser in the immediate vicinity of the place where you want to feel a pleasant aroma; for large rooms this is unlikely to be effective.
  6. If the jar is transparent, then the mixture can be tinted in the desired color with a drop of food coloring.
As a result, I made two aromatic diffusers, one for the room and one for the bathroom.

I also thought it was a good idea for a bedroom. Knead lavender oil into a diffuser, and it soothes and promotes healthy sleep, put the fragrance on the bedside table and ... turn it over when you are going to the kingdom of Morpheus. The aroma lamp loses here, after all, before you fall asleep, do not forget to put out the candle.

People can close their eyes and not see the greatness, horror, beauty, and plug their ears and not hear people or words. But they can't resist the scent. For fragrance is the brother of breath. With fragrance, it will enter people, and they will not be able to protect themselves from it if they want to live. And the fragrance penetrates into the very depths, right into the heart, and there it makes a categorical judgment about sympathy and contempt, about disgust and attraction, about love and hatred. Who owns the smell, he owns the hearts of people.
— Patrick Suskind. Perfumer. The story of a killer
In general, the experiment is not perfect, but generally interesting. If you want - try it!

And a little more ... haiku on the topic from one of the first students of the great Basho:

PLUM FLAVOR!
FROM THE BEGGAR'S SHUT
DO NOT LOOK OUT.

And here are some more articles about the smell in the house.

DIY scent diffuser can be made very quickly and with the help of tools! Making your own DIY reed diffuser is much easier than you might think, and today I'll show you how to make the best diffuser oil I've come across! Like many of my homemade gifts, once you've gathered your ingredients and equipment, it won't take more than 10 minutes to create this beauty.

When I welcome people into my home, I'm always asked how to make reed diffusers, which I use as they make the house smell amazing. But get it, they are always shocked at how easy it is! I do this regularly to keep my house smelling amazing, and unlike some store-bought options, these are free of preservatives and potentially harmful chemicals.

Quick Tip: They make great homemade gifts! And I know that from time to time I buy a few bought stores. When those expenses are spent, I keep the bottle and fill it with my own diffuser oil rather than buying a new one. Be sure to change the reed first and clean out the container though.

Do-it-yourself flavoring equipment:

  • 10-15 rattan sticks (should stick out the top of your chosen container 3-5cm)
  • 1 decorative glass container
  • Glass beaker (for mixing)

Comment A: I'm constantly buying rattan ingredients from my local stores and they're the perfect place to hunt for your glass container for your diffuser!
They absolutely must be made of glass when using essential oils. If you have a large house or can't get enough of your chosen fragrance, simply get a larger container and double the ingredients and amount of cane (although make sure these canes are long enough). I used to use a perfume bottle, but I also used an old whiskey bottle!

Liquid Flavoring Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup Fractionated Coconut Oil
  • 20 ml Aroma oil
  • 1 teaspoon alcohol

Important Notes on Air Freshener:

Fractionated coconut oil is a liquid and is the best choice for a carrier oil. Solid coconut oil is not a suitable alternative, however I have used sunflower oil which works well and is readily available at your grocery store. Just use a thin and light colored oil.
Thicker oils won't carry your reed fragrance to air, and darker oils can be terribly unsightly in a glass diffuser (although the color is your preference).
For more information on carrier oils, see our organic carrier information page.

How to make your own diffuser:

Step 1.

Pour fractionated coconut or other carrier oil into a glass beaker.

Step 2

Add your aromatic oils and alcohol, then stir.

Step 3

Drain into your chosen glass container.

Step4.

Add sticks and spread them out so that they lie evenly on the rim.

How to use a diffuser

That's it, you did it! I move the reeds from time to time and turn them at least twice a week to keep the flavor strong. Put a diffuser in the bathroom, bedroom, and anywhere you can have company hanging around so everyone will say, "Damn, your house smells amazing, my house is inferior to yours," to their envy and your joy!

If you're creating more than one homemade reed diffuser, add a splash of variety by using different scent oil blends per diffuser. I do it so that each room is unique, with its own irresistible scent and inviting atmosphere. For example. lavender in the bedroom always fills me with a drowsy, heavy head that instantly puts me to sleep.

How to make a fragrance to give as a gift

Like I said, a DIY reed diffuser can make a great gift without spending too much! Just gather all your ingredients and equipment, but with the addition of a glass bottle.

Once I've made the oil with the diffuser, I use the glass bottle to store the oil as part of a kit that also includes a reed and container. Your gift should simply contain the bottles in a decorative glass container and add reeds. Everything looks beautiful in a box on a bed of shredded, colored napkins.

Be creative! Put some tape on the rim or base of the container to give it that wow factor! Your mom, friend or someone special someone will like it.

How to make it with different ingredients for the best flavor

I prefer using aromatic oils over essential oils for this recipe. I could go on and on about how amazing I think essential oils are, but they can be a bit pricey. This recipe calls for 20 ml, which will be quite a lot of essential oils. Scented oils can be used in a variety of homemade skin care products and perfumes, and as long as you're using beauty oil for beauty products, you won't be including any nasty chemicals.

Plus, you can get hundreds of different types of fragrance oils, and I think the hardest part of using them is deciding which one! You can get the smell like food like blueberry or fudge buns or some that mimic the scent of essential oils or your favorite perfume/cologne. Of course, they are not as pure and do not have the same properties of essential oils, but for a powerful reed diffuser they are perfect!

When making your own DIY reed oil diffuser, you can even combine fragrance oils. Keep in mind the power of your oils - some oils are stronger than others, so try to balance the sump. Take a look at my homemade perfume page for some helpful tips on how to pair fragrance or essential oils for that perfect scent.

Have you ever had this: when you enter someone’s house, you involuntarily wrinkle your nose from a sharp, unpleasant smell, or even a whole bunch of them, and the rest of your visit comes down to looking at your watch and thinking through a plan for a correct escape to fresh air? Or maybe it happened at home too? If you sadly nodded or are afraid of such a fate, the post is very relevant! Smell is perhaps the main component of comfort. It should be pleasant and hospitable, so that you always want to return home. The choice depends entirely on the tastes of the owners.

Fragrances for the home can be divided by composition:

  • Perfumed - with a high price range. These are perfumes that are sold in perfume shops and departments for the home ("TSUM", "ZARA HOME", "H&M HOME", "THE BODY SHOP")
  • Synthetic - the cheapest home fragrances that deceive our body. It seems that we breathe flowers, in fact we inhale additives. Outstanding representatives: IKEA, AUCHAN, FIX-PRICE stores
  • Natural. The products are made on the basis of natural ingredients and oils. ("BOTANIKA", "STYX", "IRIS", "ELFARMA".) During production, natural essential oils are neither chemically processed nor mixed with artificial fragrances

It is better not to use the first two options. Perfume contains up to 30% perfume oils and up to 85% alcohol, not counting the huge number of unknown ingredients. Back in 1986, the US National Academy of Sciences published a report that 95% of the chemicals used in perfumery are synthetic compounds derived from petroleum. They include toxic substances that cause allergic reactions, cancer, and birth defects.

If you come across a synthetic perfume fragrance, most likely it contains phthalic acid esters. Phthalates are added to combine the ingredients and get a rich smell! Manufacturers have reduced the cost, and we have breathed in more toxic, but it’s not enough for us ... Phthalates contribute to the development of diseases: hormone failure, difficulties in getting pregnant, respiratory diseases, oncology, and pregnant women are threatened with disruption of the normal development of the fetus. That's it.

Avoid the following symbols: DHP, BBP, DIDP, DBP, DEHP, DINP, DEP, V, PVC, triangle of arrows, and inside the number 3 - these are all phthalic compounds. If the package says phthalate Free, take it, it's a good product!

Natural essential oils are great! They create a unique smell in every room. They have a healing effect on the human body: they improve the condition of the skin and hair, calm or stimulate the nervous system, restore normal performance, harmonize the emotional state, relieve sleep disorders, have antitumor activity, many oils are strong erotic stimulants.

For example, with the help of sandalwood, neroli, chamomile, you can speed up the healing process of wounds. Intensive massage with oils of orange, grapefruit will help get rid of cellulite. By adding lavender, ylang-ylang, mint oils to the bath, you can eliminate insomnia.

How to apply essential oils?

Essential Oil Spray Methods:

1. Aroma lamps

The classic ones consist of 2 parts: the lower one is designed for a small candle, water and oils are poured into the upper part, at the rate of 2 drops per 5 sq. m of floor space. Catalytic ones look like a vessel filled with oil, a wick with a catalytic burner (platinum-plated + ceramic) is placed there. The burner is lit, after 2 minutes the flame is blown out and covered with a special protective lampshade. The room is aromatized, plus, unpleasant odors are removed and bacteria in the air are destroyed.

You can install an aroma lamp in any room, but in an area inaccessible to children. Do not place it on flammable surfaces (tablecloth, plastic, oilcloth). Before use, ventilate the room well, and then light the lamp, closing all doors and windows so that the aroma does not evaporate into the void.

2. Natural wax candles: bees, soy, vegetable, coconut, apricot

Ideal for use in the bedroom or while taking a bath. Candles are not compatible with electricity, so when you light candles, turn off the lights and enjoy. In such an atmosphere, you can create a romantic and even intimate mood or meditate.

A bunch of pros:

  • Naturalness (100%!)
  • Hypoallergenic â €
  • Safe for children
  • Rich smell
  • Doesn't breathe for a long time
  • Economic consumption (30-90 hours)

3. Sachet

Pillow with fragrances, intended for aromatization of the room, linen. Fragrant sachets can be placed anywhere: in the kitchen, in the children's room, in the closet or bathroom. For example, a pleasant mixture of lavender, rose petals and yarrow is suitable for a bedroom, and you can put a sachet with chamomile, lavender in a nursery. The sachet is placed in the closet with clothes - linen always smells good. Mint, lemon balm, rosemary will help maintain immunity during colds. Plus, these cute little things can decorate the interior of the house.

4. Room spray

Aromatizer in aerosol packaging. You can buy or mix water and oils in a spray bottle: let it be a little home ritual, a little meditation. You can spray water with a few drops of lavender throughout the apartment to disinfect the air, or put it in the toilet instead of artificial sprays. Room sprays are also suitable for fabrics. They can be sprayed on bed linen, upholstery of upholstered furniture, clothes. The fragrance is more intense in the air, but lasts longer on the fabric.

5. Aroma Cubes

Wax cubes for aroma lamps. A good alternative to scented candles without an open flame. It is enough to put them in a bowl, and when the wax begins to melt, the room will quickly fill with aroma.

6. Fragrant blends

A set of natural flowers, herbs poured into an open bowl and poured with essential oils. Such flavors are placed on the table, window sill, shelf, they are not heated, they are already ready for use.

7. Diffusers

They consist of three parts: a bottle, a set of sticks, an aromatic composition. The diffuser does not need to be set on fire, extinguished, it does not need to be monitored. It is enough to adjust the intensity of the smell once: if you want a strong aroma, put all the sticks. If you like a faint smell, remove a few. If you have put all the sticks and the aroma seems weak, turn the sticks over. The diffuser costs about three months, but it all depends on the volume.

8. Ultrasonic aroma diffuser

This is a small device designed to diffuse essential oils. During operation, the device also regulates the level of humidity in the room. The intensity of the smell in the room is determined by you: From 5 drops of essential oil (for a light fragrance) to 20 drops per container. If you want the atmosphere of maximum relaxation to reign in the bedroom or if you have difficulty sleeping, place such a diffuser near the bed. Can also be used in the toilet, bathroom, living room.

Which room is suitable for which fragrance?

1. For the kitchen

Citrus aroma oils are suitable for the kitchen: orange, grapefruit, lemon, bergamot, lemongrass. They uplift the mood and effectively neutralize odors.

Life hacks for the kitchen:

  • You can make a mixture of 5 drops of cloves and 4 drops of limette oil (Mediterranean sweet lemon).
  • Want to fill your kitchen with the aroma of coffee? Add 4-6 drops of citrus oil to ground coffee
  • You can soak towels and napkins in water with oils. In addition to a pleasant aroma, bacteria and unpleasant odors are destroyed.
  • Put 2-3 drops of rosemary in your dishwashing detergent, it will smell perfect

2. For the bedroom

Soothing aromas are needed here. Priority is given to rose, fir, lavender, violet, as they are best suited for healthy sleep.

Bedroom hacks:

  • If you want to have a great night, meet the scent of love: ambergris. It improves mood and enhances attraction to a partner. This popular aphrodisiac is formed during the digestion of sperm whales, is a dense substance with a sharp resinous odor. You can use fragrances based on it
  • Vanilla is a simple fragrance that most people like. The smell of vanilla gives energy, harmonizes the atmosphere around, creating an atmosphere of trust. It gives a feeling of joy, improves memory, promotes concentration, revives the thirst for life.
  • We make a sleeping potion: 200 ml of water with 10 drops of lavender essential oil. Pour into a spray bottle and spray onto bedding before bed

3. Fragrances for the hallway

To feel good and pleasant when entering the house, use the aromas of coffee, cedar, lemon, pine, tea tree, bergamot, orange, lavender.

Life hacks for the hallway:

  • For the hallway there are aromatic helpers that neutralize unpleasant odors coming from the entrance: citrus and coniferous
  • There are also “magic wands” for cabinets: lavender. She drives away the moth. But lately, preference has been given to floral and fresh fragrances: cotton, violet

4. Fragrances for the living room

Here the principle “this and that will do” does not work. The flavor can be anything. And no one can pick it up better than the owners of the house. Find your scent. Often choose fruit, flower compositions. Experiment with sandalwood, mint, tangerine, honey. Many people like figs for their sweet, exotic flavor.

5. Fragrances for the bathroom and bathroom

The bathroom is not only a place for relaxation, but also an important element in keeping the house clean and fresh. Washing powders, gels, etc. are used here. In the bathroom you want not only to bathe, but also to spend a pleasant time, forgetting about the busy day. Floral fragrances are ideal for this: delicate rose, soothing lavender. Create an atmosphere of relaxation with candles, petals and beautiful music, and the aroma will unobtrusively envelop and give pleasant emotions.

Few housewives know that you can make your own fabric softener. We share the recipe: 1 liter of water, 150 ml of vinegar, 0.5 cups of soda and a few drops of your favorite essential oil. Pour into a bottle and enjoy! For one wash - 100 ml of product

Most often, we use air fresheners in the toilet: it is in it that odors appear that can only be destroyed by strong aromas. Purchased fresheners contain harmful ingredients that enter our body through the lungs, so it is better to refuse them. Fill the diffuser with fresh fruity, citrus scents and take it to the toilet. Room spray can be used additionally. You can apply a few drops of oil inside the toilet paper roll.

6. Fragrances for the workplace

Many people have their own work corner, here's how aromas can be useful in it:

  • To increase concentration, use the scents of lemon, jasmine, mint, rosemary
  • Essential oils of chamomile, ylang-ylang, marjoram, rose, palmarosa will help get rid of irritation and fatigue. Add 35 drops of your favorite essential oil to 150 ml of water. Pour the resulting mixture into a spray bottle and mix well by shaking it. Use the mixture as a body spray
  • Aromas of mandarin, neuroli, coriander, rose or bergamot will help boost your creativity.
  • Grapefruit oil will give self-confidence and optimism

Use of essential oils for domestic purposes

When choosing fragrances for your home, remember that all people are individual and have different tastes. Find your favorite scents that will inspire, energize, soothe and bring happiness. Do not be afraid to experiment - mix different smells, create your own compositions.

There are no trifles in comfort. Aromas in the house are a whole art that can become a family tradition or be your calling card. But not only that! Emotions, sensations, moods, memories are inseparable from smells. From some aromas we flutter like butterflies, others can turn our heads, under the influence of others we can become more optimistic or vice versa get under the covers with hot tea. Aromas are the same as people: gentle, bright or daring. To smell and feel life in all its diversity in your cozy home is wonderful.

The problem of unpleasant indoor air is familiar to everyone, but you really want the house to smell of freshness. To date, the choice of air fresheners and flavors is huge. Store shelves are full of different aerosols, sprays, crystals and bottles with odorous liquid and gel for different tastes and wallets. But, despite all this diversity, there is often a desire to make a freshener with your own hands.

Why do you need to create air fresheners with your own hands

Everyone who cares at least a little about the health of their loved ones, the question arises: “How do all these fresheners and “odorants” affect the human body?”. After all, I want not only to surround myself with pleasant smells, but also to be sure of their safety. This is especially true for young children and allergy sufferers.

The fact is that the composition of purchased flavors and air fresheners includes oil refining products, which are carcinogens and pose a danger to our body and the health of pets. Aerosols are the most dangerous - many of them not only contribute to the destruction of the ozone layer, but can also cause various diseases of the lungs, bronchi and other organs. Being in a room in which such a "fresher" was sprayed is the same as being in a slow-acting gas chamber.

Therefore, the most correct option would be to make fresheners and flavors with your own hands from harmless and even useful ingredients. There are many options, and even a child can cook them.

This is how “delicious” natural home air fresheners can look

Options for creating natural air fresheners for the home

Let's consider different options for homemade air fresheners for the living room, bedroom, hallway, kitchen, bathroom and toilet, and also learn how to make smelly ones for car interiors. And most importantly - all with your own hands and only from ingredients that are environmentally friendly and healthy for the body.

Air fresheners for the apartment

To make your own air freshener, you will need your favorite essential oils, strong scented dried flowers, dried citrus peels, fragrant plant sprigs, and even some spices. Since even such a natural ingredient as an essential oil can cause allergies, we strongly advise you to first make sure that the aroma of a particular plant is tolerated.

Do-it-yourself gel air freshener made from gelatin and essential oils

The most "long-lasting" air freshener. To decorate and enhance the aroma, you can safely use dried flowers, such as violet, rose or peony, dried citrus peels, as well as various beads, pebbles, shells and ribbons for decoration. Also take care of a beautiful vase or jar in which the flavor will be located.

Tip: choose a container made of transparent glass or plastic - this way you will see all the "beauty" if you decorate the flavor with decorative elements.

So, you will need:

  • boiling water - 1 cup;
  • gelatin - 2 tbsp. spoons;
  • glycerin - 1–1.5 tbsp. spoons;
  • food coloring - 1/3 teaspoon;
  • essential oil.

You don’t need expensive ingredients to make a “homemade” gel freshener

Gelatin will be needed to create a gel-like consistency, and glycerin will prevent the flavor from drying out quickly. Food coloring will give a beautiful color to the resulting gel. You can also add a cinnamon stick or 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon if you like the smell. You will need a little oil, only 5–10 drops for a moderate aroma and 15–20 for a stronger and more saturated one.

After you have prepared a suitable container and all the ingredients, proceed to the action.

  1. Bring water to a boil in a saucepan and remove from heat.
  2. Dilute gelatin in boiling water and cool slightly.
  3. Add dye.
  4. Add cinnamon (optional).
  5. Pour in the glycerin.
  6. Add essential oil.
  7. Pour the resulting liquid into a container.
  8. Put decorative items, flowers, peels, aromatic herbs.
  9. Leave to cool for 2-2.5 hours.

Here's a pretty "jelly" you get if you add dyes of blue, green and orange colors

After the air freshener hardens, it will turn into a thick jelly. Of course, you can leave everything as it is, but we advise you to use your imagination and decorate the jar. This will turn out a fragrant home decor, which will not only give a unique aroma to the room, but also decorate it.

By the way, according to the same principle, you can make a “New Year's” air freshener using oils of coniferous trees, twigs and cones for decoration.

You can extend the life of your air freshener if you notice that the gel is starting to dry out. Lubricate the surface of the gel with a few drops of essential oil and glycerin, and it will delight you with a fresh aroma for a long time.

soda freshener

A very simple air freshener. You will need:

  • a small glass or plastic jar with a lid (250 ml);
  • soda - 1 tbsp. the spoon;
  • essential oil - 30-40 drops;
  • foil;
  • rubber band.

Unlike gel, the preparation of this flavor will take a few minutes.. Do the following:

  • pour soda into a container;
  • measure 30-40 drops of any essential oil;
  • mix soda with oil until a homogeneous consistency;
  • pull a piece of foil over the neck of the container and secure with an elastic band;
  • using a toothpick, make many holes in the foil;
  • cut the ends of the foil in a circle;
  • close the container with a lid.

Soda freshener is simple in appearance, but very fragrant

No food coloring was needed for this freshener option, since each essential oil has its own color, although you can “tint” the baking soda and even add flower petals if you wish. Due to the large amount of oil, such a fragrance can have a rather concentrated smell, so we do not recommend keeping it open all the time. You can experiment with the amount of oil, and if you use a container made of flexible plastic, then with a few clicks, the fluids will penetrate the room through the holes and fill it with fragrance and freshness.

Flavoring with salt and petals

For this option, we will “preserve” beautifully smelling flowers, petals and fragrant herbs.

In addition to flowers and herbs, you will need:

  • glass jar with screw cap;
  • ordinary kitchen salt - approximately 500 g, but less will be needed;
  • alcohol or vodka - 50 ml;
  • a few drops of essential oil - optional.

Salt air freshener is eco-friendly and safe

When you have prepared all the components, you can get to work.

  1. Pour flowers on the bottom of the jar - 1–1.5 cm.
  2. Sprinkle the flowers with salt in one layer.
  3. Alternate flowers and salt until about 2.5 cm is left to the top.
  4. Add alcohol and tightly close the jar with a lid.
  5. Shake well so that the entire contents are saturated with alcohol.
  6. Put in a dark place and do not open for 2 weeks.
  7. Shake the jar every few days.
  8. After 2 weeks, open the jar and pour the aromatic mixture into any container.

Don't worry about it smelling like alcohol. The characteristic smell will quickly disappear, and the magical aroma of flowers will fill the room. As a container for flavoring, you can use vases, bowls, glasses.

The only drawback of this fragrance option is that you have to wait for two whole weeks, but then your house will be filled with garden scents for a long time.

Air freshener with essential oils

The simplest version of the freshener, which will help to refresh and fill the air with aromas in a matter of seconds at the right time. You will need:

  • essential oils;
  • pure water (preferably distilled);
  • conventional sprayer.

You can use an atomizer from an old cosmetic product (for example, hair spray) or from an expired “purchased” air freshener. If you are using an old sprayer, be sure to wash it well. You will choose the amount of essential oil yourself, focusing on your own sense of smell and the size of the container. For half a liter of water, we suggest taking 10 drops of oil, and then proceed as you wish. You will need just enough water to be able to shake the bottle before use.

This freshener is suitable for any room in the house: living room, bedroom, kitchen and even bathroom. You can buy several atomizers and make a fragrance for each room by adding different fragrance oils. For the hallway, you can take rosemary or cedar essential oil, for the living room - orange, grapefruit, ylang-ylang; for the bedroom - lavender or patchouli. Feel free to use spruce, cedar or lemon oil in the bathroom and toilet, and orange, geranium, mint oils in the kitchen.

Make a wonderful home freshener with your favorite essential oil

Baby Body Oil Fragrance

You will need the following ingredients:

  • baby body oil - 150–200 ml;
  • vodka - 2 tbsp. spoons;
  • essential oil 5-10 drops;
  • wooden skewers;
  • glass vase;
  • decor as desired.

Oil, unlike water, practically does not evaporate. This fact is of great importance, since this flavoring option will be "open". As for wooden skewers, wood is known to be able to absorb liquids and flavors.

Regarding the container, you will need a transparent vase with a wide neck, and since it will also act as a decor, take care of decorative pebbles, balls, ribbons and other decorations.

So, let's get down to business:

  • pour baby oil into a vase;
  • add vodka and essential oil;
  • mix everything well;
  • dip skewers into a vase - the more, the better;
  • turn the sticks over after 3 hours and your freshener is ready.

While the sticks absorb "smells", you can decorate the vase. After 2-3 hours, the skewers will be completely saturated and then they will exude a magical aroma for a long time.

This homemade room fragrance will last at least 3 weeks. All you need to do is turn the skewers periodically.

"Liquid" room fresheners can also act as decor

Fragrance with the smell of your favorite perfume

Everyone has a perfume that is running out, or an empty bottle that still exudes a subtle smell and therefore it is a pity to throw it away. We invite you to give new life to your favorite fragrance. You will need:

  • perfume bottle;
  • small scissors;
  • distilled or boiled water;
  • wooden cooking skewers;
  • syringe.

We only need a bottle, so the atomizer will have to be removed with old scissors. It is advisable to sterilize the skewers in boiling water. Using a syringe, fill the bottle with water by one quarter and insert wooden sticks into the neck. The intensity and duration of the scent will depend on the quality of the perfume itself or the eau de parfum. Since the neck in perfume bottles is narrow, the liquid will evaporate very slowly and this fragrance will last for a long time.

The appearance of the fragrance will depend on the beauty of the bottle.

Citrus flavor for the kitchen

Unfortunately, the kitchen also has unpleasant odors. A citrus air freshener in a spray bottle will help eliminate the smell of runaway milk or a burnt dinner. You will need:

  • spray;
  • vodka - 200 ml;
  • orange, lemon - 1 pc.;
  • water - boiled or distilled;

Toilet fragrance

To maintain a constant pleasant and fresh smell in the toilet and bathroom, you can use any of the above options. We advise you to choose not only those essential oils that you simply like, but also those that can kill bacteria and fungi. These include tea tree oils, fir, grapefruit, lavender, ylang-ylang, cloves.

Essential oils are the main components of most types of "home" air fresheners.

Because the toilet - not the most sterile place, you will also need additional fragrances for the toilet. They should not only freshen the air, but also have disinfecting and cleansing properties.

Toilet bombs 3 in 1

For 30 bombs with a diameter of 2.5–3 cm, you will need the following ingredients:

  • shavings of laundry soap - 3 tbsp. spoons with a slide;
  • baking soda - 1 glass;
  • citric acid - 3 tbsp. spoons;
  • hydrogen peroxide - 2 tbsp. spoons;
  • essential oils - 20 drops are enough.

Laundry soap will make the mass from which bombs are to be molded plastic. It also has antimicrobial properties. But, at your discretion, instead of laundry soap, you can take any other, for example, colored. As for citric acid and peroxide, they have a deadly effect on bacteria and fungi. To add additional disinfectant properties to this “explosive” mixture, as well as a magical aroma, we advise you to take four types of oils and measure 5 drops from each. Let's get down to business.

  1. Grate the soap on a grater to get about 3 tbsp. heaped spoons.

    Soap is rubbed on a regular grater

  2. Melt the chips in a water bath.
  3. Pour soda and citric acid into a bowl with soap chips.
  4. Mix thoroughly.

    The ingredients are mixed with a regular spoon

  5. Add essential oil.
  6. Pour in hydrogen peroxide and mix again - you should get a thick, viscous mass.
  7. Blind round balls, 2.5–3 cm in diameter.

    To make the bombs have a beautiful round shape, you can use special devices

  8. Lay the bombs out on a flat surface, such as a baking sheet lined with newspaper.
  9. Leave to dry at room temperature for 4-5 hours.

You can, of course, just mix all the ingredients by rubbing the soap on a fine grater. But to obtain a homogeneous soft consistency, it is recommended to melt the chips first, and then mix with the rest of the components.

To make bombs beautiful, add a little food coloring to the mass. Fragrant multi-colored balls will please the eye and decorate the toilet room. When the "bombs" are dry, you can safely use them. You can store ready-made bombs in a box in the bathroom or put in a bowl, from where they will emit fragrance, further refreshing the room.

In order for the toilet to be always clean and the air in the toilet fresh, you need to throw one such bomb into the toilet or drain tank every day. They abandoned it, waited 5 minutes and washed it off - the smell is pleasant, the toilet bowl is clean, the microbes are destroyed.

And this is how bombs can look if you use dyes

Toilet tablets 3 in 1

  1. In one bowl, mix soda and citric acid.
  2. In another bowl, mix vinegar and hydrogen peroxide.
  3. Gradually pour the liquid into the mixture of soda and citric acid and stir immediately.
  4. Once the contents of the two bowls have been combined, add the essential oils.
  5. Add some water.
  6. Mix all ingredients thoroughly until smooth.
  7. Blind 30 flattened balls or fill the ice molds with the resulting mass.
  8. Let the tablets dry for 4-5 hours.

If you use beautiful shapes, then such tablets will be an excellent decor for the toilet room.

Use ready-made tablets in the same way as bombs.

Tip: do not dry the toilet tablets on the radiator - they may crack. Best to dry at room temperature.

You can store the tablets in a regular jar

How long do home-made "smells" last and for what area are they enough

Any residential air freshener made in the suggested quantities is sufficient for an area of 15–18 m². For large rooms, we recommend using two fragrances, placing them in different corners. On average, one such air freshener lasts 2-4 weeks, but you can keep them fresh with the help of the tips above.

As for toilet fresheners, the validity period will depend on the number of people in the house and the frequency of visits. "Smells" for cars please an average of 1-2 weeks, but their smell can be updated on the principle of updating a gel home freshener or simply applying a few drops of oil to a sachet or cloth.

The following topics are in priority: jewelry, clothing, interior items, cooking, as well as useful tips (household). It is very important for me that readers, customers and, of course, myself like my texts!

A natural fragrance that exudes an unobtrusive favorite smell will help to effectively and safely freshen the air in residential areas, common areas, and car interiors. In addition, such fragrances can be used to perfume laundry, protect clothes from moths, eliminate unpleasant odors from the refrigerator and microwave oven.

Production of dry natural flavor

To make such an air freshener, you will need a dense fabric with a mesh structure: burlap, coarse linen, and embroidery canvas are suitable. A bag or any simple figure is sewn from a small piece of fabric.

Stepping back 1-2 cm from the top edge, holes are made in the bag, through which a ribbon or a beautiful ribbon is threaded. The ribbon should be easy to untie and provide access to the contents of the fragrance for its replacement as the smell disappears.

The finished bag is decorated with decorative elements, a loop is sewn on and stuffing with filler is started. As a filler, coffee beans, an aromatic mixture of cinnamon and vanilla, cloves and dried orange peels, anise, cumin, fennel can be used.

Herb lovers can fill the bag with dried mint, lavender, lemon balm, verbena, chamomile or ready-made herbal teas.

For those who love coniferous aromas, filling the bag with fresh sawdust or small pieces of fragrant wood with the addition of a few drops of fir, pine, and cedar essential oil would be an ideal option.

You can replace wood with coarse-grained sea or table salt. Salt well absorbs and retains the aromas of essential oils, has a healing effect on human health.

Production of liquid and gel-like natural flavoring

To create a liquid flavor, you will need small bottles - from essential oils or medicines. Such bottles can be decorated according to your own taste: painted with stained glass paints, decorated using decoupage technique, covered with fabric, etc.

The container is sealed with a piece of bottle cap, in which a small hole is made and a decorative cord is passed through it. The bottle is filled with your favorite essential oil or a combination of several oils. The lace, dipped in oil, is impregnated with it and begins to exude a delicate aroma.

For a more intense aroma, you can add a few drops of essential oil to the surface of the cork.

Gel flavoring is made using gelatin, glycerin and essential oils. A bag of gelatin is dissolved in water, according to the instructions, after which it is mixed with 1-2 tsp. glycerin until a homogeneous dense mass is obtained.

To give the flavor an attractive look, the mixture can be tinted with water-soluble food coloring or gouache, decorative elements can be added: flowers, plant twigs, beads, small shells, etc.

A few drops of essential oils are added to the cooled mixture, after which the mass is laid out in a previously prepared container and left until completely solidified. The fragrance looks most impressive in figured transparent bottles.
