Previously, glass jars were used to store cereals, spices and other foods, preserves, but today they serve drinks and desserts. But there are other ways to use glass containers. The same applies to tins and chips bags that end up in the bin, although they can become a stylish decor element or a useful craft for everyday life. So what can be done from cans?

Such a base for crafts, like a tin or glass jar, gives a huge scope for imagination. The simpler the initial element, the more interesting and useful gizmos can be made from it. An ordinary glass or tin can is great for a variety of stylish home decor items (like garlands), useful details (organizers and coasters), and just interesting crafts that attract attention (closed ecosystem).

Stylized oil lamp

What can be made from cans? A glass jar is an excellent base for creating a spectacular candle holder or a stylized oil lamp. Such decorations can be used in home decor or taken out for the holidays. Homemade will look very cozy as an element of decorating a hall for a wedding or a tent for celebrating a birthday.

It is very easy to make such a stylish little thing. All you need is kerosene, string and the jar itself, as well as some kind of sharp tool to make a hole in the lid. It is better to take the rope not ordinary, but the one that is used as a wick in ordinary candles. It burns longer and brighter. The jar is filled with kerosene by two thirds and closed with a lid. In kerosene, you need to lower the rope for about an hour so that it has time to soak. Then it remains only to insert the rope into the hole in the lid. Unusual oil lamp is ready.

What can be made from an empty jar? For example, a candlestick. It is enough to pour ordinary or colored sand, shells, small stones or other decorative elements on the bottom of the jar that will not burn or deform from high temperature. This decor will hold the candle.

A romantic option is to fill the jars with two-thirds of water (you can use tinted one) and put pill candles.

Unusual garland

What can be done with banks if you don’t want to deal with conservation? On the eve of the holidays, such an extra load in the pantry can become a very original garland. Additionally, you will need a rigid base (for example, wire) and a luminous electric garland. You need to place a small amount of garland in the jars, fix the entire structure with a rigid base so that they do not fall. Now you can connect everything to power and enjoy the play of light.

Storage of sewing supplies

What else can be done from cans? Needlewomen can use the following interesting idea. In the lid, a needle bed is made of foam rubber and a piece of fabric, but so that it does not interfere with closing the container. Now the lid is screwed on as usual. Inside the jar there is free space where you can store several spools of thread or pins. You can also use tin cans for such crafts, but they need to be additionally decorated on the outside, and as a result, everything will not look as impressive as with a glass container.

Bank-terrarium

What else can be done from cans? For the next craft that you can do with your children, you will also need a glass jar. The volume is not important. In just an hour of work, an eternal terrarium can appear in your home. Such a closed ecosystem does not require outside intervention. This craft requires more preparation. In the nearest park or forest, you need to find a few undersized plants and moss, pebbles, cones and other little things. Along with the plants, you need to dig a little earth.

The jar must be sealed. It is better to be able to open the lid for watering at first, and then the system will stabilize itself. Before laying the plants, you need to thoroughly wash the jar and dry it. Will need drainage. You can use coal, small pebbles and expanded clay. If the vessel is small, you will also need tweezers to make it convenient to place the plants. All finds are laid out in a jar and lightly sprinkled with water.

A homemade terrarium is best placed where there is no direct sunlight. At first, it is advisable to spray the plants in the home terrarium from a spray bottle. Perhaps, along with the earth, you also grabbed a few ants or other living creatures. If everything goes well, they will survive and they will be quite comfortable in a sealed jar.

Cans of chips are also in business

What can be made from a can of chips? The simplest and most practical option is containers for organizing things that we use on a daily basis. You can make a cutout at the bottom of the round cardboard package, and put cotton sponges inside. So it will be convenient to get them, and unused ones will not be saturated with moisture. Of course, the outer part of the package needs to be decorated somehow. In such packages it is convenient to store knitting needles and bolts, pencils and pens, you can use them as a basis for casting candles or for carrying paint rollers.

What to do with tin cans

Tin cans are also useful on the farm. What can be made from tin cans? Even with minimal decor, these are great coasters for kitchen utensils, stationery, or even bottles. It is enough to wash the jars, clean the sharp edges, paint or paste over with printed paper, paint with acrylic paints and the like.

What can be made from an iron can? For example, a wall or desktop organizer. For the manufacture of the wall you need a magnetic base. If desired, it can be decorated with something. Then it remains only to attach the cans to the base in random order. Parts of such an organizer can be easily separated and placed on the table when necessary.

Large tin cans make excellent flower pots, original shelves for tools, towels or other household items. Some craftsmen make whole lamps with elaborate patterns, stylish boxes or other useful home decorations from such material.

What to do with damaged banks

Even a crumpled tin can can be an interesting element for decorating a room. It is enough to wipe the edges so that they are not sharp, and evenly color the jar. If you plan to use a container for planting, it is recommended to make several holes in the bottom to let excess water out. First, a layer of drainage is poured to the bottom, and then the soil. When planting a plant, you need to take into account the volume of the jar. From such a crumpled "pot" it will be problematic to transplant something into a larger one. It is advisable to use hardy plants that grow quickly for planting.

1. oil lamp: fill two-thirds of the jar with kerosene and close the lid. Lower the rope into a jar of kerosene for an hour, let it soak in kerosene. Make a hole in the lid, put a rope through it, and lo and behold - the lamp is ready!

2. Convenient container for matches(great if you stick a match grater on top of the lid).

3.Garland.

4. Garland-2.

5. Storage for sewing accessories.

6. The bank is also convenient to store bathrooms accessories.

7. Bank and seedling inseparable.

8. Small Kids' things, lying in the bank will remain safe and sound!

9. Banks are ideal for yarn storage, We only need to make a hole for the thread in the lid.

10. In the same way you can organize storage ribbons.

11. You are not mistaken, this is exactly pizza, and it is in the bank! In it you can not only store all the necessary ingredients, but also bake pizza (in a deep pan filled with water).

12.Spices on magnets.

13. Buttons can be stored by analogy with spices. Nail the lids to the shelf, fill and screw.

14. Vases: fill the bottom of a clean, dry can with acrylic paint (about 5 cm), turn the can upside down and slowly turn it (the paint should spread evenly over the entire inside of the can). Attention! It is impossible to pour water into such jars, this is a purely decorative element.

15. Paint the jar spray paint, looks like acrylic.

16.Candlestick.

17. Good idea for decorating a country house: jar on a rope with a candle inside.

18. Bank was born to become candlestick. Put pebbles or sand on the bottom of the jar to help the candle hold better.

19. Romantic Option: fill the jars with water and put the pill candles on them.

20. Cupcakes in a jar can be a good and original gift!

21.Bank-terrarium.

22. salad container: simple and convenient.

23. Do it on the bank inscription with a glue gun:

24. Or use letters for scrapbooking.

25. Banks can be photo frames.

26. Fireflies: Pour the contents of the neon stick into the jar. Then glitter. Close the lid, shake, and the "firefly" is ready!

27. Container for liquid soap.

28. Bank can be used as blender body.

Do not throw away empty jars made of glass and tin - you can make a lot of beautiful things from glass jars that will come in handy in the apartment, in the country, during the holidays. A beautiful do-it-yourself jar decor can be made from the simplest materials: burlap, rope, twine, narrow ribbons, buttons, newspaper tubes, and even salt. With a little work and patience, you can make a vase, a container for forks and spoons, a fabulous-looking candlestick, and wicker dishes from glass and tin cans. We suggest you take advantage of the master classes and try to make decor for the kitchen with your own hands.

Decorate glass jars and coffee jars with burlap, twine, and any ribbon or lace - this is our first master class. Let's make a vase or a candlestick for a candle. Can be used to store small things in the kitchen.

For work you will need:

  1. Glass jar.
  2. Burlap (gray and white).
  3. Leg-split.
  4. A little lace (can be crocheted).
  5. Beads or small buttons.
  6. Clay Moment or "hot gun".

First you need to remove the label with hot water and a sponge and wash the jar well. Let it dry and start decorating. We cut off a rectangular piece from the burlap, apply glue to the jar in several places, and glue the burlap.

Glue a strip of white burlap or a piece of lace onto a gray fabric.

We make flowers of different sizes from twine, twisting and fixing with glue.

Glue these twine flowers onto burlap.

This is how it looks like:

Then we paste paper flowers, bows, pieces of lace on these twisted flowers. We fill the free space with beads or small buttons.

We glue burlap and lace on the neck of a glass jar, beads or buttons on top.

That's all. We use it as a vase, or as a candlestick for any candle.

We all often buy food in cans: cucumbers, baby food, tomato paste, and so on. From empty tin cans, you can make an excellent decoration of cans with your own hands: a vase for the kitchen, a stand for spoons and forks, a pencil organizer. If you use a simple twine, and any available glue.

Apply glue to the surface of the jar.

We twist the twine in a spiral, pressing harder so that the turns are close to each other.

This is how we decorate. And if there are two cans - even better.

From one tin you can make a vase by gluing a ribbon on top, and from the other, using the same twine and coffee, you can make a spoon stand.

Decorating jars with newspaper tubes

Now many are fond of weaving from the "newspaper vine". Let's try using newspaper tubes or white paper tubes to decorate a coffee can. Do you know what weaving is? Let's start with the basics.

There are 4 types of weaving: a single rod, layered weaving, square, and “rope”.

  • Single rod - racks are braided with single rods, layered with a wall - all around.
  • Layered weaving - weaving with several rods, simultaneously for several racks. Moreover, they are directed as follows: the 1st rod - for the 1st rack, the 2nd - for the 2nd, the 3rd - for the 3rd, and so on. When the circle ends, then each tube goes to the next column - until the end of the entire bunch of tubes. Next comes a new similar layer, the ends are hidden inside the work.
  • Square weaving - the tube goes through 2 risers behind the 3rd until 10 cm remains until the end of the tube. We weave the 2nd tube on the right side of the 2nd riser. Working through 2 risers, we bring the end of the tube out, and so on. Weave such “square” rows to the desired height.
  • "Rope" - the tubes not only wrap around the risers, but also intersect with each other. “Rope” happens in 2,3,4, and so on - tubes.

Let's try to weave a small vase from a glass jar. To get started, a very simple tutorial. The tubes are usually twisted with the help of knitting needles (we take a newspaper, put the knitting needle on the corner, and twist it, then remove the knitting needle). Weave "rope".

For work you will need:

  1. Cardboard.
  2. PVA glue.
  3. Scissors.
  4. Newspaper tubes.
  5. Acrylic paint.
  6. Water based varnish.
  7. Sponge or brush.

Cut out 2 circles from cardboard according to the diameter of your coffee can. On one circle with a pencil, draw notches at an equal distance of 2 cm from each other. There will be 17 tubes.

Glue the tubes and pour a little glue on top. We cover the top with a second circle, and put some kind of load - in order to better stick.

This is what the bottom should look like:

We bend the tube-racks up. Each tube must be brought under the next, and then up.

Weave in 2 tubes with a “string”.

We fix the racks on the bank with clothespins, so that it is more convenient to weave. We braid the bank.

We weave to the top of the jar, and finish the work in the form of a chain.

This is what the top looks like:

Another glass jar decor. Just as in the first case, you can braid a glass jar under a planter. That is, with the help of newspaper tubes, you can decorate a kitchen or a room with such a planter basket.

Weave in the way that is convenient for you. We do the bottom in the same way as the first master class. We make handles from rings and wire:

The product can be painted with any paint, but if you want to make a vintage version, then paint in a monochrome way: the basket is painted gray, and then applied on top with a sponge with white paint.

Such a simple and affordable decor for jars - candlesticks of extraordinary beauty made from ordinary sea salt!

For work you will need:

  1. Glass jars.
  2. Sea salt.
  3. Food dye.
  4. PVA glue.
  5. Sequins, paints, fragments of broken Christmas decorations, etc.

Pour salt into a bowl, mix with dye. Now colored salt is sold in stores - this one does not need to be painted.

We smear the jar with PVA glue.

We pour our beautiful salt into a bowl and roll the jar in the resulting composition.

Such a candlestick dries out in a few hours. If there is varnish in a spray can, you can walk on top, but not necessarily.
