How to make a swing from a profile pipe with your own hands

A profile pipe is the best option for the manufacture of metal swings, especially collapsible portable structures. This is due to the fact that in this case it is possible to do without welded joints. The swing can be easily assembled with the help of nuts. Do-it-yourself wooden U-shaped swing for children

Prepare a flat area for the future swing.
It is necessary to cut the timber so that it turns out 2 vertical posts 3000x150x150 each and 2 horizontal bars 1500x150x50 mm.
A U-shaped structure should be assembled on the ground. For assembly, use long self-tapping screws, 1 pc. on a horizontal stand on each side for fastening, as well as 3 pcs evenly for greater structural strength, as in the photo below.
Cut off the corners of the uprights with a knife or planer and sand them with sandpaper.
The lower meter of the uprights should be treated with a protective coating against moisture. The best option would be to cover with used engine oil.
Holes for bolts are drilled on a vertical crossbar 30 cm from the middle, which are fixed on it with eye nuts, which should be directed downwards. Don't forget to use washers.
It is necessary to dig a foundation under the racks with a depth of 1200 mm. A sand cushion is poured under the foundation for 200 m, and the racks are buried per meter into the dug holes. Next, pour concrete (you can use M400 cement to make it in the proportion: 1 cement x 3 sand x 5 crushed stone).
Attach the carabiners to the eyebolts.
Prepare a seat from a board measuring 250x600 mm. Drill at the corners of the board at a distance of 20 mm from the edges, one hole with a diameter for the rope, as shown in the photo below. Also nail two planks 250x50mm from the bottom of the board to strengthen the seat (do not forget to drill them under the rope as well).
Pass the rope through a loop through the carabiner, the free ends of the rope through the holes in the seat. Secure under the seat with a knot. Subsequently, the height of the seat can be adjusted. Repeat the same procedure with the second carabiner.
Treat the wood with a primer, varnish or paint of your choice.
Such a design will have to withstand weight up to 200 kilograms, so you don’t have to worry about child safety.

Stationary metal swing for two

For a large family, a good solution would be to make a stationary children's swing made of metal with your own hands for two.

A simple and affordable for everyone design of an outdoor metal swing for two children in the country is the most optimal in terms of time, necessary skills and the total cost of consumables. The procedure for the independent manufacture of such an iron swing for children will be as follows:

First, let's make a swing frame. Let's take two long pipes of 5000 mm in length and a cross section of 40 mm. Each of them must be bent with a pipe bender at an angle of approximately 30 degrees, as in the figure below.
In the second stage, we need two tubes with a cross section of 25 mm and a length of 500 mm. We weld them to our curved tubes so that we get spacers. You need to do as in the picture below with each of the two supports.
The final stage in the construction of the frame will be the fastening of the two resulting halves with a vertical pipe with a cross section of 40 mm and a length of 3000 mm. We use a welding machine. The result is as in the photo below.
It is important to understand that such a swing will be stationary, since we will fix them with a columnar foundation. If you want to make a portable structure, then the bending angle of the support posts should not be 30 degrees, but 40. The spacers are welded not in the middle of the supports, but in their lower part so that an isosceles triangle is obtained. However, we are making a stationary version, so we will prepare the foundation.
We dig holes with a depth of 600 mm. Width approximately 100x100 mm. The location of the pits at the base of our swing frame. Take 4 square pieces of steel 80x80 mm for mortgages (steel thickness from 3 mm). At the bottom of the pits, tamp a sand cushion 100 mm. Next, insert the armatures so that their tops are just at ground level.
Fill holes with concrete. Next, we weld mortgages to them. Mortgages must be welded when the concrete has set, but not yet completely hardened. We fix the mortgages with the help of anchor bolts for concrete, 4 pcs for each rack. Next, weld the base of the frame to the mortgages. The foundation and frame are ready. To fasten the seats to the horizontal bar, it is necessary to fix 4 loops with eyebolts, on which chains for the swing will be attached.
To make a seat, take a board 600x200 mm. Drill 4 holes along the edges with a 15 mm offset of 5 mm diameter for fastenings for metal triangles (without base), to which chains are attached in turn. Fix the triangles on the board with screws and a screwdriver into the holes that you did earlier. Do as in the picture below (only using the board).
Do the operation twice to secure the two seats. Hang them at the right height, depending on the height of the child. As can be understood from the above procedure, such a design requires minimal costs and time.

Baby swing balancer

The design of balancers is perhaps one of the simplest and most ancient. Considering that such a swing can be used by at least two people, they will be an excellent option for sharing leisure time with the whole family with a child, or for several children.

The advantages of balancers in a sense are also their disadvantages. So, such a swing perfectly develops teamwork and encourages social interaction of children with each other, however, if a child is often left alone, such a design will be completely useless for him, unlike other options.

Old tires are an excellent material for making swings. After all, automotive rubber is both durable, soft and flexible. All this allows you to use it for the manufacture of a wide variety of household, outdoor and garden equipment, furniture, and, of course, children's swings. The most popular and affordable tire option at all times has been the simplest design, requiring only a hanging point, rope, and the tire itself.

You can make such a swing out of tires on your own in just a few minutes. However, safety, as well as interest for children, will leave much to be desired. You can reduce the danger of tire swings by following a simple instruction:

Use only high strength static climbing rope;
Check tires for strength and do not use torn material;
The thickness of the branch must be at least 25 cm, and the distance from it to the tree pole must be at least one meter.

But in addition to such a simple design, there are a number of much more interesting, safe and original swings made from old tires, which will allow you to organize an interesting exterior on the site and give any child the opportunity to have fun.

All the above dimensions do not have to be perfectly accurate - this is the advantage of this swing, since it allows the use of almost any suitable material, including various old boards available in almost any household.

First of all, you need to choose a suitable tire and prepare it. The ideal option would be old domestic summer tires, as they will be stiff enough to withstand constant long-term loads. High-quality foreign soft tires, especially winter ones, will be better used in a more profitable way.
Preparing the swing tire will require you to cut it horizontally into two halves. Most of them are reinforced, so instead of a construction knife, metal shears or a hacksaw may be required. One of the halves will become the basis for the swing. The second half can be cut in half again and make additional shock absorbers at the ends of the swing from the finished quarters.
Preparation of boards and bars. Since the board will be used by children, sharp corners should be sawn off and sanded to avoid possible injury during operation.
Next, mark the middle of the board and mark the installation site for half the tire. At the extreme points, it is necessary to mark the places for fastening the bars - it is to them that the tire will be attached in a horizontal plane.
Holes are drilled in the board with a drill and bars are attached to them using self-tapping screws, 5 fasteners for each bar (see diagram). After that, points for holes in the tire are marked, drilled, the tire is fixed strictly in the middle. In total, you will get 16 mounts.
After that, you can proceed with the installation of shock absorbers from tire quarters - they should be installed on the edges of the board. Shock absorbers are also attached to bolts, the caps of which should be on the upper side of the main swing board.
When all the elements are fixed, you can start painting and varnishing. It is recommended to treat the tire with silicone grease or simply rub it with glycerin. The swing itself can be processed in any way convenient for you. For example - with the help of wood stain and varnish for wood, or with the help of ordinary oil paint.
