Outdoor children's swing for giving: types, materials, production. Do-it-yourself swing for a summer residence - unique tips and photo ideas for a hanging swing Children's summer swing with their own hands

One of the favorite children's games is to swing on a swing. There are swings in almost every yard in the city. However, in summer, children often go to their grandparents in the village or take them with them to the country. To diversify the rest of your child, you can make a children's swing for a summer residence with your own hands. You will find instructions, photos and diagrams in this article.

Swings can have a different design: from the simplest "bungee" to a large swing, on which you can even lie. Next will be described the designs of the swing, which you can do yourself, in order of increasing complexity.

Garden swings are very popular in the country

The simplest swing, familiar to most, is a bungee. It is a strong stick tied on a rope (rope, chain) to a tree. The bungee is made extremely simply: a strong stick about half a meter long is selected (you can saw off part of the handle for a shovel, rake, etc.), a rope is tied to its middle, the other end of which is attached to a thick tree branch. It is best to use the so-called scaffold nodes - they tighten themselves and hold the load well. A child can make such a swing on their own. The bungee can be upgraded by taking a sturdy plank instead of a stick, drilling through the center and threading the rope through the hole, then knot it.

The simplest bungee can be made from a rope and a stick.

Slightly different from the bungee is another projectile - a trapezoid. The trapezoid is the same stick, but the rope is tied to it not in the middle, but from both edges. The rope can be solid, but you can use two - the same length. If one solid rope is used, it can be fixed on a branch with an ordinary loop (photo 1).

Helpful advice. It is better to choose a stick with a significant margin of safety. Firstly, increased strength guarantees the safety of the swing, and secondly, then small grooves can be machined on a stick at the attachment points of the ropes so that they do not slip off - this also increases safety.

The cable tarznaki can be fixed between two supports

The simplest swing

The simplest swing can also be hung on a thick branch, but it is better to make a crossbar with supports for this. The design of the supports will be described at the end of this article.

A simple rocker with a soft seat

The seat is a square or rectangular board suspended at four corners. You can use plywood. Not far from the corners, four holes are drilled in the seat, into which a rope or eye is passed (at the eye there is a ring instead of a head); if the eye is not used, then the rope can be passed through the hole and tied in a knot (its thickness should be equal to the diameter of the hole), thus securing the board on it. If an eye is used, instead of a rope, a chain can be taken, which is attached to the eye with a carabiner.

A backrest made of the same plywood can be attached to the seat on metal corners. Another version of the backrest (suitable for small children) is shown in photo 2. Tubes made of wood up to 30-40 cm long (the same length!) are put on the ropes, after which a crossbar stick with drilled holes along the edges is put on for every two adjacent ropes. This design, despite the ease of manufacture, is quite convenient, safe and will serve for a long time.

Note. Instead of putting on wooden tubes (not everyone can make them!) You can tie knots on ropes at an equal distance from the seat. Then the crossbars will be held with knots, not tubes. It does not look as aesthetically pleasing, but it is easier to manufacture.

Helpful advice. In the manufacture of any wooden parts of the swing, it is necessary to clean them with sandpaper or a file - this will protect your children from splinters and give a more aesthetic appearance to the product. In order for the swing to serve for a long time, they need to be varnished or painted to protect against dampness.

Swing from wooden pallets (pallets)

To wooden pallets, a chain or rope is also fixed at four corners. The advantage of pallets lies in their large size and strength: on wide pallets it is convenient to swing while standing, or you can put a mattress and swing lying down. Pallets can be connected to form large structures.

Tire swing

Car tires are strong enough, but cut well. The most primitive use of a tire is similar to a bungee: the tire in a vertical position is tied to a branch with a rope, you can sit in such a swing. But such a seat is not very comfortable, and its appearance is not aesthetic. This is not yet a reason to refuse the use of tires.

A swing from a tire tied horizontally on three or four chains looks much better. Four or three holes are drilled in the tire at an equal distance from each other, into each of which an eye is inserted and fastened with a nut. It is useful to lay wide washers between the eye and the seat (and between the nut and the seat). Ropes (or chains) are brought together to support at one point on a steel ring.

The strip cut off from the tire is used instead of the board, as described above. In this case, “ears” are attached to the edges of the tire strip, for which the rope is held or a carabiner is hooked with a chain.

From tires you can make a variety of shapes for a swing

Fabric swing on a metal frame

The swing seat can be made from a metal frame with a strong fabric stretched over it (for example, a tarpaulin). Rope weaving can be used instead of fabric. An example is a hoop swing.

A swing from a hoop resembles a hammock: a wide and strong hoop is tied to three or four ropes, from which thin ropes go to the center, woven with macrame technique into some kind of cobweb. The weaving scheme can be different, the main idea is that the weaving can withstand the weight of your child. The hoop is usually wrapped in foam rubber and fabric, or braided with twine so as not to injure the child with a possible impact and for greater comfort. Instead of macrame, you can pull a tarpaulin over the hoop, as noted above.

Swing supports. Fastening the swing to the supports

Supports (goats) are made of three bars, logs, boards or metal and look like the letter A: their lower ends are placed in specially dug holes and buried or concreted. The crossbar, even for a children's swing, is best made from a metal pipe. In the absence of a pipe, a beam is placed on the goats - a thick beam or a rounded log. The structure must be strong and not wobble. Steel supports are assembled using welding, and wooden ones are connected with screws, anchors, self-tapping screws and metal corners.

If the seat is suspended from a metal bar, it is good to use rings - plastic, metal or wooden. The latter can be carved from wood yourself. If you tie a rope to a tube without rings, the rope may fray. Then it is necessary to check its strength regularly. If there are rings, then it is better to lubricate the contact points of the rings and the crossbar.

If the swing is suspended from a log or beam, then rings are not needed: the rope will not slide on the tree due to strong friction. Both ropes and chains can also be attached to eyelets (or hooks) firmly screwed into a beam or log. Wooden structural elements must be varnished or painted to protect them from moisture.

Instead of a wooden beam with eyelets, steel beams with rings welded to them can be used. On a wooden beam, the frames can be replaced with clamps on which to hang carabiners. Chains can also be attached to vertical posts on anchors with wide washers. In this case, the beam is needed only to give the structure stability and rigidity.

Baby cribs can be attached with chains

Chains can be fastened not individually, but connected in rings: the left chains are attached to one, the right ones to the other. Rings are also hung on carabiners to eyelets, on hooks, clamps, or welded to a metal crossbar.

Children's rope swings are not so reliable

Let's dwell on two more types of swings.

rocking chairs

A rocking chair can replace a swing for a child. The advantages of a rocking chair include safety for the swinger (there is no risk of a rope breaking) and mobility (can be brought into the house, can be taken out into the street); the disadvantages are the relative complexity of manufacturing and the fact that such a chair can crush the leg of the person standing next to it. A kind of rocking chair can be considered wooden rocking horses. The main difficulty in the manufacture of rocking chairs is the manufacture of rounded skids; for a children's rocking chair, they can be cut out of thick plywood.

Rocking chairs are safe and suitable even for the smallest

Horse - rocking chair made of solid wood

To make skids, you need to draw their contours on a sheet of plywood and carefully cut it with a jigsaw, then clean it with a file and sandpaper. A seat made of plywood or chipboard (plywood is stronger and lighter) is attached between the runners to metal corners. It is necessary to work very carefully so that the rocking chair does not turn out to be a curve.

A floor rocking chair for kids can also be made from thick cardboard.

Swing-balancer (English seesaw).

The swing-balancer is a long crossbar-board, at the ends of which seats are made. At least two people can swing on such a swing. The simplest version of the swing-balancer is done like this:

  1. A long (2.5 - 3 m) strong board or timber is selected, cleaned and sanded.
  2. Handles are screwed on each side about half a meter from the edge. To do this, on both sides of the beam, it is attached along the plank, to which the crossbar is then attached (photo 5).
  3. Plywood or board seats are screwed or nailed on both sides, it is advisable to attach pads so that the seats are soft.
  4. A thick, strong pillar about a meter long is dug into the ground to a depth of half a meter (or concreted).
  5. A hinge is screwed or nailed to the middle of the beam, which is then attached to the buried pole.

Another option is also possible, when skids are cut out of thick plywood, as for a rocking chair, and attached to the middle of the timber. Then the swing becomes portable and can be used indoors.

Security

When making a swing, remember: negligence in work can result in injury. Be sure to choose strong chains and ropes, check the stability of structures. It is better to spend more time and money and make the swing stronger than necessary than to become the culprit of a spoiled vacation due to an error in calculations, and worse, a serious injury to your own child.

There is another interesting type of swing - a grasshopper swing. Grasshopper Swing Diagram

Do-it-yourself swing for a summer residence

42 photos:

Swings in the summer cottage are far from always fun for children. They are mainly used as a decorative element and complement the landscape design. What's more, they serve as a great way to unwind, rocking a little, after a hard day's work at sunset.

In the country, you can build a swing made of wood and metal with your own hands, and it is not at all necessary to buy a new product in a store for unreasonable money.

What are swings made from?

Mostly either wood or metal is used, but it is best to use both as it requires the warmth of the wood as well as the strength of the metal.

This applies mainly to the support of the swing, but the seat can be made from completely different materials, for example, it can be plastic, timber, ropes, chairs or even armchairs. Look at the photo of the garden swing and you will see many options that you didn’t even know about before.

The basic rule of a swing is comfort and safety. The seat and support posts must be very strong in order to withstand several people at once.

To hide from the rays of the sun, you can make a small fabric canopy or from polycarbonate, wooden and roofing elements.

Swing with easy chair

Before you start building, you need to consider the purpose of the swing, namely who will use it, location, seasonality.

It will not be superfluous to choose such a model so that it is combined with the overall picture of the site, that is, with the house, bathhouse and garage.

mobile swing

Such a swing can be assembled and disassembled, as well as transferred to another place. Very handy if you have kids. Such swings can be either on a suspension or on special supports that are installed in the ground.

The best ideas on how to make a swing for kids are in the names of the swings themselves - it can be balance beams, a hammock or even a sofa.

Moreover, you can think about the construction of non-standard swings: in the form of chips, oval, which are hung on a special rack, in the form of various figures of animals and vehicles

Make such a swing for children, and they will spend all their free time without parting with them.

Instructions on how to make a hanging swing

For a hammock swing, a support frame is usually not provided. Only the seat itself is made, which is subsequently hung on a strong chain or rope to beams on the ceiling or massive tree branches on the street.

Tires

The easiest option to make such a swing is to take an old unnecessary tire that has not yet completely deteriorated. She is tied with a strong rope and hung under a tree. In addition to the rope, you can use a chain, which is fixed with a nut and screw.

Moreover, you can not just pass the mount through a hole in the tire, but make three holes in the plane of the rubber and fix the hook mounts there with the help of nuts and wide washers.

Wood

It is also very easy to make. It is necessary to take a strong board and drill four holes in it at the corners. A rope is threaded and also attached to a tree branch. Go ahead and use an old but reliable chair with sawn off legs instead of a board, so your swing will have a back.

Hoop

Be sure to use only a metal hoop, inside which a cobweb with small cells is woven with a rope. To increase the safety of such a swing, it is better to cover the metal frame with foam rubber and secure it. Such a swing is attached in the same way as all the previous ones.

canvas swing

We take a piece of strong tarpaulin, a few corners and riveting. It is important to fold the tarpaulin several times and stitch the layers together with high quality. The material is inserted into triangles along the edges and secured with rivets. With the help of a rope or chain, the swing is suspended from the branches of a tree or the ceiling.

Swing on racks

If you want to make a standard type wooden swing on support posts for the whole family, then you need to draw up the correct drawing and calculate all the dimensions of the future swing for reliable manufacture.

To make them, you will need some materials and tools - a very strong and thick rope, a lot of wooden products from which the seat will be assembled, possibly plywood, as well as fasteners. Do not use nails or self-tapping screws as they will not provide the same security as galvanized bolts.

To build a support, use a large beam that would withstand the required weight. The bars must be driven as deep into the ground as possible so that the swing does not go back and forth when swinging. It is also important to cover all wooden elements with an antiseptic so that the tree does not deteriorate over time.

When you make a garden swing with your own hands, use step-by-step instructions so as not to make mistakes in the construction steps. Keep in mind that swings are fun, but falling off them can be painful.

DIY swing photo

Garden swings are great fun, leisure and casual play. There is always a lot of joy and children's laughter around them. By placing them on the site, you will get another place for a pleasant pastime. This is especially true for young parents. Observing simple safety rules and creating a structure, make a children's swing with your own hands.

Children's outdoor play has an indispensable attribute - a garden swing. With some effort and creative ingenuity, adults can create a fabulous element of a magical garden out of them. After all, childhood is a time of miracles and fantastic discoveries! It is not necessary to buy large gaming complexes or entertainment venues. You can quickly make a simple design with your own hands, and as a result, the child enjoys rocking, and you - ringing children's laughter!

Most do-it-yourself outdoor frames are made for only one child. Let's select the types according to the main parameters:

body position

A do-it-yourself construction made of wood, for example, can provide for two positions - sitting or standing. The first option is suitable for preschool children and, as a rule, is additionally equipped with a backrest at the back and a mount between the legs in front. Otherwise, the risk for the child to fall out increases.

Children's metal swings that you can stand on are more designed for teenagers. In this case, side mounts are not needed. The child stands on the board with his feet, and holds on to the rope ropes with his hands. In addition to them, it is required to attach wooden children's hand holders across them.

Mounting method

There are two ways to make a swing for a baby - hanging and frame. The easiest is to hang the finished board to the top support point. It can be located both without a canopy and under it.

Homemade frames require you to first build a seat, which is then hung on pre-installed supports. This process is more time-consuming and lengthy, but these garden swings are reliable and durable. And the photos prove it.

Preparation process

Security

For a child of any age, safety is the main criterion. Make sure there are no solid vertical supports or structures nearby that you can hit against. Children's hanging swings require sand or soft grass underneath. In extreme cases - from wood, if it is the floor of the veranda. Install them so that the child is in front of you.

When choosing a material, consider its lightness and safety. After all, children's wooden swings, like any others, are used intensively, so there is always a risk of bruising. To lower it, install the back, side and front mounts. Be sure to have them if you plan to ride small children under 7 years old.

For fastening, choose ropes, they will not heat up and you cannot stick your fingers into them. Regularly check the integrity of all parts, including those made with your own hands from wood. Lubricate children's metal swings.

Planning (installation site and drawing)

What is more important to you - a plot or a garden swing? If the garden, then pick up a free area, away from buildings and flower beds. It can be fenced off from the rest of the site with a low fence or curb. In this case, a suitable space may well be in the depths of the garden, out of sight. Outdoor swings for children in such a place will be unsafe.

Do-it-yourself children's swings from different materials may require a little restructuring. It may be necessary to free the veranda, removing everything superfluous, heavy and fragile from it. Or cut down an old tree that threatens to fall rotten branches in the next heavy rain.

It is advisable to make a site near the house with a canopy or under a tree with a wide crown. When children play in the yard in the summer, take care of shelter over their heads from the scorching sun. It’s good if it is a veranda or pergola, for more details on the manufacture of which see. Children's swings for summer cottages are installed, taking into account the swing radius, so there should be free space nearby.

To understand how to make a children's swing in the country with your own hands, first make a sketch of the design on paper. Choose the required form. Below you can see typical drawings and options that describe in detail the process of creating a swing for children and teenagers.

Instruments

Garden swings and accessories for them depend on the material.

As a rule, you will need:

  • Roulette and ruler.
  • Pencil or crayon for marking.
  • Nails, self-tapping screws, nuts, galvanized bolts, screws.
  • Garden drill, shovel.
  • Cement, sand, gravel.
  • Primer and paint.

Wooden children's structures will also require:

  • Saw, jigsaws.
  • Metal corners for fastening.
  • Chain or rope for hanging the seat.
  • Hammer, drill.
  • Glazing antiseptic.

When creating a swing with your own hands from metal, you must have the following:

  • Hacksaw for metal.
  • Bulgarian.
  • Welding machine.
  • Chains, carabiners.
  • Pipes, angles and strips of the desired size.

For tires, you can limit yourself to mounts and chains or use a strong rope. It is suspended from the top support.

Do-it-yourself hanging swings made of plastic can be made from similar materials. Most often they are suspended by ropes or ropes.

If the main material is the fabric from which the seat for the children's swing is sewn, then wooden bars of small length will also be needed.

What material to choose and how to make

Wood

It is warm, durable and can withstand frequent use. At the same time, it is light, swings well and does not hit the child hard when falling. By sanding a wooden seat, you can paint the garden swing in almost any color.

Solid, suitable for the general style of the landscape, a wooden swing in a summer cottage is a joy for children and for ...

Do-it-yourself children's swing made of wood will turn out to be just the place where you can show maximum imagination, taking into account the preferences of the child himself. For example, build a standard design for children on your own in the form of the letter “G” using curved wooden sticks, beams, vines, giving the shape of a revived fairy-tale person.

Or use a jigsaw to craft the character you want from a finished log. Wooden child seats can be a simple plank attached to ropes. But they will be remembered by the child forever, and he will be happy to spend time here. Especially if you combine such a design with a slide.

Experiment with a seat made of wood with your own hands. In addition to a simple rectangular board with or without a back, you can build a seat in the form of a circle, an airplane, a flower, a horse. An ordinary chair without legs is also suitable.

Metal

For a swing, this material is used less frequently, because it requires a long processing time, expended resources. And the finished structure, although it is more durable and static, is heavy in weight and traumatic. For kids, it is not recommended to install a metal swing on their own, but they are suitable for older children.

It is good if the children's metal swing is covered with soft material, a pillow or a rope. This will not only soften the blow, but also prevent the hard parts from getting too hot in the sun. To do this, you can install a canopy made of durable fabric or polycarbonate.

Tires

As well as tires, used tires give adults a rich field to work with their hands for their beloved child. This material is easy to process, and working with it will take you a minimum of time. Tires are cut with a hacksaw or a special knife to get different shapes. Having fixed them with bolts and hanging them by hooks, we get an economical option for the street with our own hands.

Consider the weight of the child, because such material can become unusable faster. Children's swings for giving from tires are well suited for kids of primary and secondary school age. But a small child will not be safe on them, especially in designs without a back and additional fasteners. In addition, in the summer, the rubber heats up and can rub on delicate skin, causing diaper rash.

- a very budgetary way to entertain children and teenagers. They can be easily moved from one place to another and put away for the winter in a utility room.

Plastic, skateboard board

A finished plastic seat in the form of a chair or a rectangular board is attached with chains or a cable. The likelihood of injury from a collision with plastic is minimal. Such swings for children to give require constant attention, because with temperature changes or the weight of the child, the material may crack.

How to make a swing on your own from a skateboard? Remove the wheels from it and attach the ropes. On it they sway while standing, holding hands on the wooden crossbars, which also serve as additional support.

Fabric, twine

A durable fabric or tarpaulin is a godsend for those who like to do everything with their own hands. Fasteners, usually wooden, are attached to the sewn pieces of fabric. Such children's hanging swings are made in the form of a hammock, a cocoon with holes, a high chair or a cone.

Swings for children for summer cottages are great for kids. They quickly fall asleep in these soft cradles. An older child can relax there with a book or player.

Do-it-yourself children's swing from a circle and ropes. They are also hung from ropes and the seat is a circle without a back. Its bottom consists of ropes woven in a circle or crosswise. Weaving can take a long time, but this option is convenient, safe and versatile. The swing is attached quite close to the ground, and the probability of injury when falling is reduced to almost zero. And the wide surface allows you to both sit on it and lie down.

Build a children's swing for a summer residence with your own hands, involving the child if possible and turning the whole process into a game. So you will establish a good relationship with the baby, and your authority will grow in his eyes. Whatever result you get, it will remain a source of pride for both adults and children. Garden swings for children are touching memories for a long time!

When choosing a children's swing for outdoor summer cottages, parents are required to check them for absolute safety for the child. Consider what manufacturers offer us for our treasures.

For the safety of the swing seat, it is necessary to provide a horizontal bar in front of the chair, which will provide protection for your child

First of all, the swing is divided according to the material of manufacture. They can be wood, metal or plastic.

Children's wooden swing for giving environmentally friendly, durable, easy to assemble and beautiful appearance. Impregnation of wood with a special composition increases the service life of products.

An old skateboard is also suitable as a swing seat, because its board is very durable and hardy.

You will have to tinker with such a wooden swing-airplane, but the result is worth it, your child will feel like a real pilot

metal swings are among the most reliable and durable models. They can be forged, collapsible, welded. They weigh a lot, but this is justified by their strength and stability of the installation.

Hanging swing, the seat of which is made of metal rings, will become a real decoration of your yard

For a children's swing, it is possible to use any options as a seat, for example, part of the ski lift

Plastic designed for the little ones. Light and bright, they are great for babies under the age of 5, but they are afraid of winter frosts and fade in the sun.

For babies, a fabric seat with a perimeter enclosing structure will be comfortable and safe, where the child will feel confident

Swings are also distinguished by the type of construction: suspended and frame.

A frame-type swing in the form of a red wooden sofa is a bright accent for your site

Frame, of course, it is preferable for children, because they are highly stable, they can be freely moved to different parts of the site, they are durable and safe enough to use.

A swing that is simple in shape can be made special - a little imagination and boring seats have turned into bright little animals that will be much more interesting for your children to play with.

Suspended Models are simple, do not require special skills to assemble. To equip them, you need a carrier beam, a strong rope and a board for the seat. It is desirable that she had a back.

By choosing bright colors for the swing, you can even more cheer up the children.

Car tires can be an excellent material for children's swings, if you apply fun coloring for them.

Swing chairs Designed for kids up to 3 years old. They are usually low, with a soft back and a seat in the form of a deck chair.

Chaise lounge with soft seats - a safe swing option for a small child

All these models can be purchased in stores, but if you decide not to spend money and build a children's swing for a summer residence with your own hands, we will help you.

Material

Of the materials for structures with supports, there are two options: metal and wood. Unfortunately, a children's metal swing for a summer residence will require special skills from you. If you are not a blacksmith or a welder, building a metal frame will be problematic. Yes, and pipes for supports will also have to be looked for.

To make such a swing, you will need quite a bit: a wooden chair and chains - and a unique decor for your yard is ready.

A cushion chair for such a swing can be easily sewn from an old bedspread, although it will not be as durable as, for example, wooden, and besides, it is better to protect it from moisture

The best solution that any parent can do is to build a wooden swing.

Building a wooden swing

The simplest design is a children's hanging swing for giving without a frame. It's great if you have a large tree with a low thick bough on or near the site. They threw two ropes over it, built a seat from improvised means - and the swing is ready. As a seat, you can use tires traditionally loved by summer residents, a high chair, an abandoned skateboard, a piece of board, an old ice rink. In general, everything that, in your opinion, is suitable for a comfortable ride for a child.

The easiest way to organize a swing is to use a tree branch as a base

In such a round swing on a soft pillow, tied to the base, so as not to “fly away”, it will be pleasant to spend time not only for children, but also for adults

For the construction of a frame swing, we first determine the place. It should be close to the house, but away from the fence and trees. Then we need lumber and tools. We choose conifers, but others are also possible, the main thing is that the tree is dry, durable, without defects. We carry out preliminary processing of wooden parts: we clean, grind, process with a special compound to increase moisture resistance. For the swing we need:

The beautiful and durable design of the swing chair will not leave indifferent not only children, but also adults

  • two pillars
  • rope (about 6 m)
  • crossbar
  • ring-shaped pendants (hooks are possible)
  • fasteners

For the stability of the frame, the side supports can be made in the shape of the letter "L"

Advice! Please note that nails are not suitable for attaching swing parts, it is better to take bolts.

With your own hands, you can build such a hanging swing-bed, where your children will play

From the tool we take a shovel, hammer, drill, tape measure, planer, grinder, paint and brushes. Well, the springboard for work is ready. Let's move on to step-by-step design.

To create such a wonderful swing, you only need an old chair, a rope and bright paint.

  • We carefully clean the place under the swing from debris and level the site.
  • We dig two holes for poles to a depth of 90-100 cm.
  • Before installing the pillars in the pits, we will process the lower part, about 50 cm, with tar. This is how we keep them from rotting.
  • We fasten the crossbar to the posts. It is desirable that the diameter of the crossbar coincide with the diameter of the pillars.
  • We mount metal parts using special fasteners. They can be purchased at the store.
  • We process sharp corners with a grinder.
  • We fasten ropes or chains to the crossbar, checking their reliability with their own weight.
  • We tie the ends of the ropes to the seat, having previously drilled holes in it.

The U-shaped base of the swing with green plantings at the uprights provide shade and aesthetics for this simple structure.

We got the letter "P".

Advice! For kids, it is better to attach seatbnot two ropes, but four. To do this, take two lengths for each rope, fold in half, and thread the ends into the seat.

If this option bothers you, you can build a more stable structure by taking four pillars for the frame and placing them in the form of a block letter "L". The sequence of work is almost the same, only you will need to dig four holes, cut off the tops of the pillars at an angle, connect them with metal parts. Between the pillars, below, at a height of about 50 cm, stiffeners should be nailed on both sides of the swing. This design creates opportunities for creating a real children's summer cottage. By increasing the distance between the posts, you can nail a long bar and add a rope or climbing ladder to the swing.

How to choose the material for making a swing

Of course, in order to make a country swing yourself, you need to have not only certain construction tools, but also the skills to work with them. Therefore, before deciding to build, sensibly evaluate your strengths. A swing for a summer residence made of metal is, of course, a fundamental building.

But in order to build it, you must know how the metal behaves in certain conditions and you need to own a welding machine, a grinder, a hacksaw.
If you do not feel confident enough to implement such a global project, then perhaps a wooden swing for a summer residence is more suitable for you.

Wood is a material that is easier to process, and even non-professionals will be able to cope with the construction. Just choose a fairly durable type of wood for construction. Suitable spruce, cedar, birch, oak. And make sure that there are no defects on it - knots, holes, etc.: after all, not only comfort, but also the safety of your baby depends on this. Of course, plastic can also be used as a material for manufacturing.

However, its only advantage is its cheapness. It does not apply to environmentally friendly materials. In addition, if you want your garden swing to withstand not only kids, but also adults, plastic is definitely not for you. However, often a swing in the country can be built literally from what is at hand - you will see for yourself.

The wooden pallet that you have left after the construction work can be an excellent basis for a swing. You will also need a strong rope and a tree strong enough to place the swing on. If there is no suitable tree, it will be possible to dig in support pillars.
In its simplest form, you can tritely strengthen the rope on the pallet and tie it to the support. If you wish, you can complicate the concept by connecting several pallets together, building a back at the swing, painting them beautifully.

2. Swing from a snowboard or skateboard

The snowboard broke, but the board was left of it? It can be an excellent basis for a street swing for a summer residence. Despite the seeming fragility, the snowboard is very durable and can withstand heavy loads, so it is ideal for the role of a swing seat. The main thing is to securely attach it to the ropes and hang it on a support.
If the roller mechanism remains on the skateboard, this makes making a swing with your own hands an even easier task. It will be enough for you to build loops from the ropes and thread a skateboard into them: the wheels will fix the ropes and keep them from slipping.

This type of swing can be attributed to the classics of the genre. Construction still begins with the erection of support bars - wooden or metal, and a transverse beam between them. Bolts with rings are screwed into the upper beam. One end of the ropes is attached directly to the tire, and the other end is threaded into the rings. You can use chains instead of ropes.

The same tree can serve as a support, which significantly speeds up the process of erecting a country swing with your own hands. This option resembles, rather, a bungee, and does not claim to be particularly aesthetic.
In general, if there is no particular desire to start a global construction, anything can fit as a handy material for making a children's swing for a summer residence:

  • logs;

  • bars;

  • boards;

  • even a seat from a chair or armchair.

The main thing is to give free rein to creativity.
