Making furniture for the hallway with your own hands. We make a narrow built-in wardrobe in the hallway with our own hands

When choosing new furniture in the hallway, everyone wants it to meet all the stated needs, to be beautiful, not bulky, roomy, affordable and made of quality materials. However, given the characteristics of the hallways, not every ready-made furniture set will suit you in size, color or type.

Making furniture in the hallway with your own hands, you can fit it exactly to the size of the room, as well as choose the right color for the material.

In this situation, the ideal option would be to make furniture in the hallway with your own hands. Already here you can independently choose the material of the tree, if necessary, paint it in the color you need and, most importantly, independently determine the set of furniture you need and exactly with those sizes that are suitable only for your hallway.

At first glance, it seems difficult and even unrealistic the process of making furniture yourself, but in fact, everything is not so difficult. Of course, to start making furniture, you need to have certain skills in this area, be able to work with basic tools and know the basic technologies that allow you to properly connect individual furniture structures.

So, let's get started and try to make the furniture in the hallway on our own, so that later we can assemble it into a single complex.

Tools and materials

For this work, we need certain tools: a drill;

Without a screwdriver, the work of assembling furniture can last more than one day.

  • screwdriver;
  • self-tapping screws;
  • sandpaper;
  • screwdriver;
  • saw;
  • various drills.

In addition to tools, you will need the following materials:

  • furniture boards (mainly made of pine, beech) sized 1600*400*18 mm and 2000*400*18 mm;
  • boards measuring 1600 * 120 * 16 mm;
  • slats 3000*40*12 mm in size;
  • plywood 6 mm thick;
  • hinges for furniture;
  • furniture handles;
  • wooden dowels.

We will make one single-door bedside table, the other two-door one, a pencil case and a clothes hanger.

Production of a single-door bedside table

The device of a conventional cabinet-pencil case.

Let's start with a one-door bedside table. We determine the height of our future pedestal and cut out two sides of the same size from a shield 1600 mm high, corresponding to the selected height. If there are skirting boards in the hallway, then on one side these two side panels are sawn off so that the bedside table fits snugly against the wall. In the upper part, we also cut it at an angle so that the top cover is narrower than the main bedside table. We fasten the two panels with self-tapping screws by inserting the lower and upper bases. At the same time, from below, we do not make the base straight to the floor, but a little higher, removing the resulting gap with the front panel using wooden dowels. From above, we fix the base in the place where the cut begins. The back panel, if necessary, is made of plywood. Next, we cut out the door of the bedside table of such a size that a drawer fits over it, and using a special drill we make holes for the door hinges. Using furniture hinges, you need to attach the door to the frame of the nightstand.

From plywood we cut the skids for the drawers of the cabinet. For reliability, it is better to cut them out along the entire depth of the cabinet. We attach them on both sides of our frame. From plywood we make the bottom bar for the box, taking into account the fact that it should fit into the holes of the runners, the back and side panels of the box. We make the front panel from a furniture board slightly wider than the drawer itself.

We fasten the parts of the box with self-tapping screws. We attach the front panel after we fasten the handle to it and varnish it.

We cut out the top cover of the nightstand and fasten it with dowels and glue. The nightstand is ready.

Production of a two-door pedestal and cabinet-pencil case

Drawing cabinets for shoes.

Now we make a two-door nightstand. According to the dimensions you need, we cut out the side panels, the upper and lower bases, stepping back a certain distance from the bottom and closing it with a front panel, making cuts under the plinth. At the same time, the height of this bedside table should be lower than in the previous bedside table. The result is a rectangular frame. Everyone chooses the internal content for himself according to his desire, placing partitions and shelves. From the sides, everything is fastened with self-tapping screws, the upper and lower covers are attached with wooden dowels. Next, doors of appropriate sizes are cut out and attached to our frame using furniture hinges. The back panel is made of plywood.

Next, we proceed to the manufacture of the cabinet-pencil case. We saw out side panels of the required depth from large shields, as well as the lower base, the central shelf and the upper base. It is recommended to divide the cabinet into two compartments in height so that the doors are light. Do not forget to make cuts for the baseboards and raise the lower base slightly above the floor. The whole structure is fastened with self-tapping screws. From large shields, two doors are cut, the same in height. With the help of furniture hinges and a special drill, the doors must be attached to the frame of the cabinet-pencil case. The door is recommended to be hung on 3 hinges for greater reliability. The back wall is made of plywood. Internal filling, again, everyone chooses on their own. Shelves are fastened with special shelf fasteners. Here is your wardrobe ready.

Now we collect all the furniture elements in one place, arranging them in the following sequence: first a single-door bedside table, then a two-door bedside table and then a pencil case. Now in the resulting place above the two-door bedside table we will make a clothes hanger.

Making a clothes hanger

To do this, the boards are sawn with the same height, which should not exceed the height of the cabinet-pencil case and should begin above the two-door bedside table, and are attached to a horizontal rail with a certain distance from each other. The width of this design should match the width of the two-door bedside table. It turned out something like a rectangular lattice. From above, stepping back a short distance from the edge, a shelf for hats is attached to the entire width of the hanger. Using sandpaper, you need to process every detail of the hanger and varnish it. This hanger is attached to the wall with self-tapping screws above the two-door bedside table. Hooks for clothes are attached with self-tapping screws.

Now in our design there is a place above the single-door bedside table. In this place you can hang a mirror. It will look beautiful and harmonious if the dimensions of the mirror do not crawl up behind the closet and to the side behind a single-door bedside table.

All resulting furniture must be varnished. We attach handles to all front doors with the help of the same screws, put locks and other accessories if necessary. If you did everything right and conscientiously approached your work, then in the end you got a furniture set in the hallway, which is suitable both for outerwear, which is convenient to hang on the open part of the hanger and put away in the closet as needed, for shoes that are comfortable clean in boxes in a nightstand. A convenient shelf for hats will allow you to carefully store them and eliminate the possibility of losing them. A convenient mirror, with a beautiful edging to match the style of your corridor, will give you the opportunity to put yourself in order right within the corridor.

With minimal material costs and with a small set of tools that are in almost every apartment, if you have a desire, you can make yourself a wonderful and necessary set of furniture in your hallway.

If desired, instead of varnish, the furniture in the corridor can be covered with paint of the shade you need. The front surface of the doors can be decorated with additional materials, such as bamboo panels, mesh panels, glass shelves, doors. If necessary, the handles can be changed to others, thereby slightly changing the external image of your corridor wall.

Independent production of a hallway turned out to be not so difficult, very convenient and very affordable way to ennoble an interior that bored you.

A wardrobe is a popular type of storage furniture that allows you to make the most of even not very convenient places at home. A do-it-yourself closet made in the hallway, in addition, helps to achieve this without too much expense.

Make the Right Choice

First, decide on the appearance, size of the desired furniture. If the corridor is very small, do not overload the room with large forms.

After all, the main thing that is needed here is a compartment or a hanger for outerwear, a place for shoes, a shelf for bags, hats, as well as small drawers that will allow you to have the necessary little things at hand.

If the area of \u200b\u200bthe hallway allows, it is better to make a closet. There is a place for many things in it, it will turn the whole space from floor to ceiling into a useful one. When opening the doors, you will not be constrained, because they do not swing open, but move compactly to the sides. The mirror surface required in the hallway can be the outer part of the door. More efficient than a wardrobe is only a corner wardrobe. Of course, you will have to spend a little more, but the benefits of such an investment are obvious.

How to calculate cabinet dimensions

Before you start cutting and assembling the wardrobe in the hallway, you need to decide on the place where it will be installed, make accurate measurements, and draw up drawings. For the correct determination of parameters, the minimum indicators obtained during measurements are taken.

  • When installing a wardrobe in a niche between two walls, the width indicators are taken at least at three levels, then the smallest value is selected. Please note that the smallest possible cabinet width is 900 mm (and the sliding door is 450 mm). The largest length corresponds to the size of a sheet of laminated chipboard 2750 mm.
  • Determining the depth, step back from the doorway, switch, other object at least 50 mm. The minimum possible cabinet depth is 350 mm, and the largest is 900 mm.
  • The height of the product can be arbitrary, but not more than the size of a sliding door, which is made of solid glass, a mirror (2950x1050 mm) or a chipboard sheet (2750x1300 mm). You should also take into account the way in which all the details will get into the apartment or house (the dimensions of the doorway, staircase, elevator, etc.).
  • In order for a sliding system to function well, the doors must be the right size. In principle, the wider the structure, the more stable it is (but preferably no more than 1200 mm). That is, the width of one door should be at least ¼ of the height of the cabinet.

After that, you can consider ready-made drawings of cabinets, pick up one of them or make it yourself. Plan your filling to include part dimensions and hole marks in your own drawing.

Features of filling the closet in the hallway

Since our closet should become part of the corridor, its main task is to place shoes for the street, as well as outerwear. Therefore, the compartments for these things must be made capacious and spacious. And shelves and drawers should provide convenient places to store bags, umbrellas, hats, clothing and shoe care products.

If the size of the hallway allows you to organize two sections for clothes, then one will be for seasonal items, and in the other for storage. A sliding wardrobe with a depth of 450 mm is equipped with a retractable hanger, and with a depth of 600 mm - with a pipe rod. The minimum filling of the wardrobe in the hallway is a department with a bar for outerwear and a second one with shelves and drawers. Moreover, it is better to place the latter not high and not low, so that it is convenient to open and see their contents.

When preparing the drawings of future furniture for the corridor yourself, you need to take into account that with a box depth of, for example, 600 mm, it consists of two sidewalls, a bottom and a roof with a plinth (70-100 mm). The depth of the shelves will be 500 mm. The internal frame, partitions and shelves are made of chipboard, which has a thickness of 16 mm. For shelves, a minimum of 400-500 mm wide is allocated. To accommodate clothes - from 600 to 1200 mm, the height of this compartment is in the range of 800-1600 mm. All your requirements for the parameters of the compartments should be included in the cabinet layout or diverse drawings if your cabinet is complex or angular.

Sawing cabinet parts

If the drawings with dimensions are already ready, for the manufacture (sawing) of precise parts, not only the source material is needed, but also special devices. Today, these are robotic systems controlled by a computer.

And also a master who has the necessary knowledge and skills. Therefore, if you do not have the necessary skills and equipment, it is better to turn to specialists. They will also seal the front ends for the cabinet with an edge to match the base material. If a thick edge is to be used, this should be reflected and taken into account in your drawings.

Materials and tools for making a cabinet

So, the blanks of the wardrobe (the ends of some parts are already finished with a melamine edge 0.5 mm thick):

  • 2 sidewalls;
  • top;
  • front and rear plinths (2 pcs.);
  • 2 partitions;
  • top shelf;
  • 7 shelves;
  • 3 sides of the plinth box;
  • 2 ribs of the plinth box;
  • hardboard placed horizontally to close the space between the top cover and the shelf;
  • vertically located hardboard on one leaf;
  • vertically located hardboard on two doors.

Furniture fittings:

  • 4 screws 16 mm;
  • 5 confirmations 70 mm;
  • 2 bars for hangers;
  • rod holders;
  • metal furniture corners;
  • it is desirable to prepare shelf supports, they will allow you to adjust the height of the shelves;
  • screws or nails;
  • sliding doors and roller rack systems for them.

The following tools will come in handy in your work: drill, drills, screwdriver, core, tape measure, square, pencil, level.

Cabinet assembly

  1. If your drawings include drawers, start with them. Assemble the frame using confirmations, then screw the bottom part, attach the parts that are part of the roll-out telescopic system.
  2. Fold all the shelves evenly, mark the indents and draw a vertical line under the square along the ends of the identical parts. Using a punch, mark the holes on the ends. Make holes with a drill.
  3. Screw on the fixed parts of the telescopic drawer slides.
  4. On the inner surface of the cabinet partitions, apply markings for the installation of shelves, these designations will disappear when the parts are installed in their places. Make a through hole in the marked places, and then you can make a countersink from the outside.
  5. We assemble the frame of our wardrobe. To increase rigidity, be sure to install screeds.
  6. Screw the bottom of the cabinet, install the bottom supports.
  7. We install the resulting structure vertically, after which we attach the cabinet cover to the furniture corners.
  8. We put the drawers in their places.
  9. We install the rear walls of the wardrobe and fix them with self-tapping screws.
  10. Install clothes rails.
  11. Adjusting drawer fronts.

We mount doors

Sliding doors for wardrobes are suspended and rail. Rail structures give a load to the lower guide, and suspended structures - to the top. Each mounting method has its own advantages. To avoid problems, it is better to order doors from a company that sells rail systems for such products.

  1. Using self-tapping screws, we fasten the top rail to the level with the edge of the cabinet roof.
  2. We also fasten the lower rail with self-tapping screws to the bottom, retreating 20 mm from the outer edge.
  3. Having inserted the door leafs as high as possible, we combine the lower roller screwed to the door with the groove of the lower rail.
  4. Using a hex wrench, we adjust the gaps between the side and outer doors.
  5. Under the lower roller of the closet door with a screwdriver, set the stoppers.

Features of corner cabinets in the hallway

If you want to make a corner roomy closet in the hallway with your own hands, choose a model, taking into account the area, your desires and material capabilities. Such a cabinet can be made in three main versions:

  1. corner wardrobe with a diagonal (transitional) wardrobe,
  2. L-shaped (or corner with a joint),
  3. diagonal cabinet.
  • Two conventional structures located along the walls are connected and fastened with a transitional (diagonal) cabinet. Usually this transitional part is closed with a traditional hinged door, which has the same appearance as the rest of the compartment doors, the difference is only in the opening mechanism. The diagonal cabinet smoothes the corner. It has, as a rule, a compartment for outerwear (bars for the entire length parallel to one of the walls), shelves are placed on the side.

  • Corner wardrobe, which has the shape of a right angle. This arrangement is more popular. This wardrobe is just as spacious, it consists of two modules connected at 90 degrees.

  • The diagonal cabinet is distinguished by a facade that is located diagonally to the corner. It is a small dressing room that you can enter. Such a cabinet is only suitable for a spacious hallway, as it cuts off the entire corner and significantly reduces the area of \u200b\u200bthe corridor. But if your goal is to save money, then this is a good opportunity. Compared to previous options, the diagonal design reduces the area of the facade (the most expensive part of the cabinet) by 2 times, which reduces the cost of purchasing materials. The diagonal corner cabinet, being bulky, has almost the same storage capacity as previous models.

Corner cabinets are designed and assembled according to the same principles as conventional ones. Of course, it’s quite difficult to make a full-fledged wardrobe in the corridor yourself, but it’s quite possible to plan, create a detailed drawing and assemble blanks.

The entrance hall creates the first impression of the apartment and the people who live in it. A beautifully decorated entrance area speaks of the homeliness and hospitality of the owners.

If the room is well planned, there is enough space in it to comfortably dress and put on shoes, help the lady take off her coat, put bags and purchases. Consider step by step how to make a hallway with your own hands.

Design project

First, let's analyze the planning features of the room.

hallway configuration

An elongated narrow corridor must be visually expanded. A sliding wardrobe with mirrored doors, installed along a long wall, will add air and light.

Painting the ends of the room in colors darker than the side walls will help visually reduce the length. Horizontal stripes will expand the space.

A small hallway will require a well-thought-out compact solution, saving every centimeter. Mezzanines, narrow wall hangers, reclining shelves will be appropriate here. A corner cabinet will help save space.

A large entrance hall allows you to create additional storage areas for sports equipment: bicycles, skis, skateboards, and for household items: a vacuum cleaner, an ironing board.

Design

It is desirable to design the hallway in the same style as the rest of the rooms. At the same time, the design can be diversified with artifacts that express the individuality of family members.

Posters or paintings placed in frames on a free wall will tell about the passion for art. An original banquette with ethnic motifs and exotic trifles will communicate a love of travel.

Planning principles

To make do-it-yourself hallway drawings, the room is measured using a construction tape measure. Draw a plan and wall scans to scale. The drawings outline the location of the wardrobe, shelves, seating, mirrors.

What else should be considered when drawing up a design project:

  • when planning a built-in compartment, you can use existing niches;
  • the length of the wardrobe for outerwear is taken at the rate of 0.5 m per 1 family member, the width is 0.45–0.6 m;
  • the ideal width of the hallway is 1.4 m;
  • it is advisable to immediately think over the lighting modes or the illumination of individual zones.

We repair the hallway

The entrance hall is subjected to the greatest load in terms of interaction with the environment. Here we walk in street shoes, bring street dirt and moisture. The floor covering should be resistant to abrasion, and the wall decoration should be easy to clean.

Wall repair

Starting an independent repair of the hallway, old wallpaper, remnants of putty, plaster irregularities are removed from the walls. If necessary, the walls are chipped for electrical wiring.

After electrical work, the strebs are sealed with plaster mortar. The surfaces are leveled, puttied and proceed to the fine finish.

Materials are chosen depending on the artistic intent. Often, embossed decorative plaster is used to finish the hallway. It looks interesting in combination with wall cladding with natural stone or antique brick tiles.

Another common type of finish is gluing with glass wallpaper, followed by painting with acrylic or water-based paint.

Floor repair

To repair the floor, the old coating is removed, irregularities are corrected with a thin layer of screed. Then a soundproofing or other underlying layer is laid, depending on the type of flooring.

Quite often, large-sized ceramic tiles or porcelain stoneware are used in the hallway. The solid material is resistant to mechanical stress, has various textures for natural stone and wood.

Another popular material is laminate, usually at least 32 abrasion class. These materials can be combined: the entrance area at the door is covered with porcelain stoneware, and the rest of the hallway is covered with laminate

A common flooring option in the hallway is semi-commercial linoleum. It is also resistant to heavy loads, diverse in the choice of color and texture.

Ceiling repair

The ceiling is suspended from plasterboard. Behind it you can hide electrical wiring. Drywall allows you to beautifully beat the differences in the protruding structures on the ceiling, highlight individual functional areas.

Stretch ceiling will look beautiful in a large hallway. Glossy plain surface visually increases the height of the room. A suitable drawing on the canvas will help complete the stylistic design of the interior.

Hallways of small apartments have a small height. The surface of the low ceiling is leveled with putty, cleaned and painted with water-based paint or finished with ceiling tiles.

Entrance hall made of wood

The entrance hall, made of wood with your own hands, looks beautiful. The easiest option is to hang a wooden shield or wide planks with hooks for clothes on the wall. A hanger made of deliberately rough rustic boards looks original.

DIY wardrobe

A home master can independently make the main element of the hallway - a wardrobe. First, you should draw a sketch and plan where the outerwear will hang, where the shoes will stand, where the hats will be placed.

In the drawing, the dimensions of all elements are determined. For work you will need:

  • furniture boards;
  • plywood;
  • furniture fittings;
  • screwdriver;
  • self-tapping screws.

According to the given dimensions, blanks are cut out of furniture panels: side slats, base and shelves. A sheet of plywood is used as the back wall. The top cover must be overlapped. The entire structure is assembled using self-tapping screws; for reliability, carpentry glue is used.

Mark the location of the clothes rail. It should be 4-5 cm below the top shelf. Now you need to screw the holders and insert the rod itself.

Doors are cut out of shields and each is hung on three hinges. In conclusion, attach the handles and tint all surfaces with varnish.

Curbstone in the hallway with your own hands

A cabinet is made in the same way, which can be adapted for a shoe rack or used to store various small things. The side parts are connected to the base and back wall using wood glue and self-tapping screws.

For drawers, ready-made guides are attached to the side rails. The boxes are assembled and inserted inside the cabinet, and then the top cover is attached.

The top of the cabinet can be designed as a seat. To do this, a piece of furniture foam rubber is glued to the top cover. From above it needs to be wrapped with synthetic winterizer, and on top - with a beautiful furniture fabric. The fabric is attached to the lid from the underside with a furniture stapler. Alternatively, the seat is made folding by hanging hinges to the lid and to the back wall.

Complement the composition with a mirror in a wooden frame, a stand for umbrellas and bags.

You will find more ideas in the selection of photos of the hallway, finished with your own hands.

DIY hallway photo

The entrance hall is the first thing you see when you enter the apartment. Often the choice in stores is the same, and choosing furniture for the corridor is not easy. And if it is not large, then the closet simply may not enter or take up all the space. In this case, you can make furniture for the hallway yourself. In addition to saving money, you will get a customized model that suits your space.

The main rule for furniture in the hallway, it should be roomy, compact, with a neat appearance. Don't over decorate it. In addition to decoration, it has the function of storing things. You should carefully consider the size, availability of drawers and cabinets. It is better if there are more of them, but it is necessary to push off from the area of \u200b\u200bthe corridor, you do not need to overload.

Hooks of an unusual shape on the wall look beautiful, plus a shoe rack.

It looks original, in the presence of a large hallway, a wooden bench, it will give the interior a twist. A win-win wardrobe, it will fit into any interior. And a wardrobe, if space permits, is an ideal solution, it is comfortable and roomy.

For small sizes, it is worth using:

  • built-in wardrobes - take up minimal space,
  • mirrors and light finishes - visually expand the space.

DIY hallway furniture

With the help of the right project, even a small area can be transformed, and the hallway will look organic and roomy.

The design of this room should be combined with the interior of the entire apartment. It is permissible to choose a different decor or floor covering different from other rooms, but the stylistic direction should be the same.

Practicality

When choosing a model, you should pay attention to practicality. With a small hallway, it is worth stopping at the standard version and choosing multifunctional furniture: compartments for things, shoes.

A compromise between capacity and external beauty is a corner cabinet. It looks small, but has a lot of depth, so it's roomy.

In the presence of a large family, it is necessary to think over a place for the things of each inhabitant of the apartment.

The entrance hall is a room into which dirt is carried from the street. Therefore, you should not do it in bright colors, it will quickly get dirty. And such things as: umbrellas, strollers, bicycles, it is undesirable to carry deep into the apartment, it is worth providing a storage system for them in the corridor.

Individuality

Everything that is done by hand, including furniture, is always the embodiment of your ideas and desires. You can decorate the hallway with decor to your taste and give it personality. Such furniture will be one of a kind, and not mass-produced at the factory, and guests will be surprised at its exclusivity.

What you need to work

Having chosen a model, having made a drawing, you should prepare everything that is needed for work: material, accessories, tools.

Depending on the type of furniture, the accessories need different:

  • sliding wardrobe - guides for drawers, tires for a sliding system;
  • cabinet with hinged doors - hinges, handles, locks;
  • hooks for clothes.

Instruments

You should stock up on the following tool:

  • saw or electric jigsaw;
  • screwdriver or screwdriver;
  • sandpaper;
  • with a knife;
  • screws;
  • tape measure;
  • corners;
  • loops;
  • plugs;
  • special wooden fasteners;
  • chimney.

This is the main set that can be useful in the manufacture of furniture.

We make the hallway ourselves: the choice of material

Importance is given to the choice of material, should not be taken too expensive. In addition, it should be easy to process and safe for health.

Suitable: plywood, chipboard, fiberboard, MDF, furniture board, edged board, wooden block, drywall - they have a long service life and good quality.

  • Wood. Wood is an environmentally friendly material, so it is perfect for an apartment. It never goes out of fashion, and furniture from it speaks of the wealth and excellent taste of the owners. The wooden entrance hall will harmoniously fit into any style. It can be carved, thereby giving individuality. For the manufacture of furniture, different species are used: oak, birch, pine, beech, walnut. The only negative is the high price, but given the long service life, this cost will fully pay off.
  • Furniture shield. It is made from natural materials, therefore it is safe for health. Looks classy and lasts a long time. The cost is high, but below the tree.
  • Chipboard. Chipboard is a common and convenient material for making a hallway on your own. It is simply cut and processed, weighs little, there is no need for reinforced fasteners. With all the pluses, it is affordable.
  • Plywood .. It has the same qualities as chipboard, but more dense and durable. From it you can make not only parts with curved lines, but also make a welt pattern.
  • MDF. Slightly less durable than plywood. But it has limitless possibilities in processing: painting, toning, applying stain.
  • Fiberboard. It is used only for the manufacture of the back wall of cabinets.
  • Wooden beam. Designed to assemble a frame structure.
  • Cutting boards. Relatively expensive material, pine boards are the most affordable.
  • Drywall. Built-in niches are equipped with drywall.
  • Mirror or glass. Glass or mirror inserts will decorate any room, and you can’t do without a mirror in the hallway. However, they are heavy and cannot be handled alone.

Choosing a hallway depending on the type of room

When designing a hallway, you need to take into account the features of the room and the number of households. You should decide on the functional accessories of the hallway so that it is practical and comfortable. With a small area, the beauty of the closet will not be visible and it will look bulky. It is better to choose the corner version of the hallway. In addition, there should be enough shelves and hooks for all family members.

The right decision is to install furniture along a long wall.

Ordinary hallway: instructions, diagrams and drawings

Making a simple entrance hall yourself is not difficult. It includes: a hanger, a shoe rack, a small pencil case or chest of drawers with a mirror.

For this you will need:

  • loops;
  • furniture board;
  • plywood;
  • grooved boards;
  • three-dimensional rail.;
  • pens.

The first thing to start with is a pencil case. For this, planks of the required size are cut out of the shield, a cover for the top (with an overlap) and shelves. The assembly is not complicated - the slats, with the help of self-tapping screws, are attached to the lid, the shelves are installed in the same way. For structural strength, corners are cut out of plywood and fixed in the corners. A door is made from the shield, which is mounted on 3 hinges.

Now we make cabinets. If desired, you can make only one cabinet. For manufacturing, you need 2 sidewalls of the same size and a bottom that will connect them together. The lid should be made smaller than the bottom. All parts are fixed with glue and screws. Doors are cut out of the shield and attached to the hinges. If there is a drawer, skids will be required. You can make them yourself from plywood, but it’s better to buy them (the box will roll out easily on them). The second cabinet is made according to the same principle as the first.

Now, the whole structure is going. The prepared boards are fixed to the edge of the pencil case and to the cabinet - this will be the base of the hanger. From above, the boards are connected with a rail, for strength. Hooks for clothes are attached to the rails, and a shelf for hats is screwed on top.

The final stage is the installation of handles and varnishing.

Corner option: instructions, diagrams and drawings

It is easy to make a corner hallway with your own hands, but in order for it to be stable, it is necessary to use solid material: chipboard, plywood. The module consists of 2 parts that are connected at right angles. In addition, you should decide whether the walls themselves will be the frame or the base. If the walls are even, then you can do without a frame, fasten the shelves directly to the walls - this will be economical.

Manufacturing principle:

  • a drawing is made in size, areas for attaching shelves are marked;
  • Chipboard is cut with a jigsaw;
  • holes are drilled for dowels on the front side of one panel and at the end of the other, holes are made for confirmations;
  • dowels are lubricated with glue and sidewalls are assembled;
  • shelves are attached to confirmations, clothes hooks.

If necessary, you can attach a mirror to the door or make compartment doors, thereby getting a corner wardrobe.

Do-it-yourself non-standard hallway: drawings and diagrams

If there is a non-standard corridor that does not fit the wardrobe or hallways sold in the store, you can resort to an original and simple solution. For example, the presence of a bedside table or shoe rack, plus a hanger and a mirror.

You should start with a nightstand. From the furniture board, 2 sidewalls of the same size are cut, the base and the lid. If there are skirting boards, then the corners are cut off from the sidewalls (on one side). The back wall is made of plywood. All parts are fastened with self-tapping screws. Inside, skids for drawers and fasteners for shelves are made. Doors are hinged.

A hanger in the hallway is an element that you cannot do without. It is not difficult to make it and you can give free rein to your imagination. For lovers of eco-style and everything natural, tree branches are suitable instead of a hanger. Those who prefer country style need a vintage version.

It can be a compartment for storing gloves, an umbrella stand, small shelves. In any hallway often put a mirror. And most often it is large enough so that a person can see himself in full growth. In addition, this piece of furniture allows you to visually make the space wider. There are three main mirror designs for the hallway. Single-leaf pedestal

Work order:

  1. The production of such a piece of furniture should begin with the fact that markings are made on boards sized 1700x400x18 and the sidewall is cut out. Then a shelf for a niche and a bottom are cut out. After that, you should make a front bar, which is then fixed under the bottom.
  2. When the blanks are cut, holes should be made in each of them. Furniture dowels will be fixed to them. Choose your own mounting locations. By the way, if there is a plinth in your hallway, then so that the cabinet does not rest against it, you should cut out a part on its sides below that matches the dimensions of these plinths in size. Thus, the nightstand will stand close to the wall.
  3. Now you can cut the door. To do this, it is best to take the same board that was used for the cabinet itself. Then, to secure the loops, you need to make holes. As loops, it is better to choose those that allow the door to close flush with the frame. Hinges that will move the door to the side when closing are best not to take.
  4. Next, coat the dowels and holes for them with glue. Then you can install them in place and start assembling the frame. When this is done, secure it with self-tapping screws. Then you can install the door in place.
  5. Now you can start making the skids on which the drawers will be installed. They will occupy the entire width of the side. To make the skids, take a sheet of plywood and cut two pieces about 16mm wide. After that, they should be fixed inside the side of the cabinet in the place where the bottom of the drawer will be located.
  6. When the skids are in place, you can begin to manufacture the box itself. It is recommended to start with the construction of the bottom, which is cut out of plywood.
  7. Then two side and one back wall should be made from boards. When they are cut, they are screwed to the bottom with self-tapping screws. To avoid the appearance of cracks in plywood, before screwing in the screws, you should drill holes in it. It remains to make the front of the box, which is installed at the very end of the work.
  8. Finally, cut out the lid of the nightstand and attach it with furniture piping.

Double cabinet

The manufacture of such a bedside table is in many ways similar to the process of manufacturing a single-door cabinet. The frame blank is also first marked and sawn out. On the sides, cuts should be made that will allow the cabinet to stand close to the wall. Next, you need to make a plank of plywood and a shelf. In size, they are the same as in a single cabinet.

The bedside table usually has two compartments. One of them is about a quarter of the size of the structure in width, and in height it is the same as the height of the entire pedestal. The second branch occupies the remainder. At the same time, it is divided into two more parts using a horizontal shelf.

Now the nightstand can be assembled by gluing and pre-installing dowels. After that, it must be fastened with self-tapping screws. It remains to cut and install the doors in place.

Hanger wall

To make this piece of furniture, you will need several boards. The production variant with two blocks is described below:

  1. First, the boards are placed on a plane, while there should be a small distance between them. From above, they should be fastened with a rail placed at the height at which the hooks are supposed to be fixed.
  2. After that, you can start making a shelf for hats, the dimensions of which depend on the dimensions of the wall obtained.
  3. The finished shelf is fastened with self-tapping screws. In addition, stiffeners should be placed on each of the two sides.
  4. Finally, lean the finished wall against the place on the wall where it was planned to fix it. At the same time, note how much the boards will need to be cut so that the structure is flush with the cabinet. It remains to shorten the wall to the desired size, and it is ready for use.

Pencil case for the hallway

It is not difficult to make such a piece of furniture. To do this, you need a furniture board, from which you should cut out a wall, a bottom, a front plate, a cover and two back walls (if necessary, a part under the plinth is cut out on them). This is necessary so that the cabinet stands close to the wall.

Work order:

  1. When all the parts are ready, you can assemble the frame. To do this, as in previous cases, you first need to coat the dowels and holes for them with special furniture glue. After that, it is recommended to install them in place and assemble the frame, securing it with self-tapping screws.
  2. Now you need to cut out two sashes, on each of which you need to make holes for attaching three loops.
  3. Next, you should decide how many shelves there will be in the closet. On the sidewalls inside the product, install the fasteners at the appropriate level.
  4. When the shelves are sawn, they can be placed in the right place. Finally, you can install the sash.

Wardrobe for a small hallway

Below is an example of assembling a cabinet that can be placed even in the hallway of a small "Khrushchev". There will be a gap at the bottom of the structure, which is obtained due to the installation of furniture legs 55 mm high. They will be attached to the cabinet with 4x16 self-tapping screws. That's all there is to say about these supports. Next, the assembly of the cabinet body itself will be considered. Let's start with the dimensions of the parts.

In the manufacture of a wardrobe for the hallway as a material, you can use:

  1. Laminated by a chipboard 18 mm thick.
  2. Painted hardboard.
  3. Melamine edge with 0.6 mm adhesive backing.

The manufacturing process of the facade will not be considered here. It is envisaged that a custom version will be used, consisting of an aluminum frame with a sample for three hinges, and a mirror is inserted into this frame.

By the way, you can build a simpler version, which is also cheaper. So, a mirror is glued onto a sheet of chipboard with the help of special glue. It turns out the facade, which will be more massive and heavier than the previous version. In this case, it will require at least 4 loops. In addition, the cabinet itself will need to be attached to the wall for reliability. Otherwise, it may simply collapse when opening the doors. Therefore, decide for yourself which facade is preferable for you.

You will need the following chipboard sheets to assemble the structure:

  • For the top cover of the shoe cabinet: 1 pc. size 390x460 mm.
  • For the top and bottom of the whole structure: 2 pcs. size 990x480 mm.
  • For the shelf of the open part: 1 pc. size 380x390 mm.
  • Heel of the open part: 1 pc. size 2110x390 mm.
  • For the sidewall of the structure: 2 pcs. size 2110x460 mm.
  • Sidewalls of the nightstand: 1 pc. size 400x440 mm.
  • For wardrobe shelves. 1 PC. size 570x430 mm.
  • Cupboard door: 1 pc. size 400x365 mm.
  • For the manufacture of the rear wall of the structure, you will need 1 pc. size 2030x600 mm.

Before making a cabinet for the hallway, you should make sure that when installed in place, it will not cover sockets, switches, and other similar places. The design itself is easy to assemble. To do this, you will need the following tools:

  1. Powerful screwdriver.
  2. Several wood drills.
  3. A set of fasteners (among them there should be a hexagon for confirmations).
  4. Pencil.
  5. Measurement line.
  6. A hammer.

In addition, you will need the following specialized fittings:

  1. Retractable bar 410 mm long. It is attached to the shelf in the structure from below. Hangers are hung at the level of the front.
  2. Internal four-hinged furniture hinges in the amount of 6 pieces (2 pieces for a shoe cabinet and 4 pieces for a large door).
  3. Hooks and handles. Suitable for design. There are quite a few options. The choice is up to you.

To prevent the fasteners from matching, the shelf inside the cabinet should be placed 35 mm higher than the open part.

Screeds are made for confirmations. Under them, you first need to drill both into the end face of the part and into the plane. Standard furniture fasteners are 5 by 73 mm. Holes in the plane should be 8.5 mm in diameter and at the same time through. All markup is done depending on the number of design details. They may well be sidewalls, facades or the back of the open part.

Hardboard can be fixed with self-tapping screws or nailed. The first method is more suitable if you have free time. The second should be used if there is not much time. The most important thing in both cases is to observe the rectangularity of the structure. Otherwise, the facades will turn out to be outwardly unattractive. In addition, they will not be able to close normally. The above recommendations on how to make a hallway are actually nothing more than an example. You yourself have the right to decide what and how to design. This applies not only to the quantity and composition of materials, but also to other aspects.
