Hybrid grapes with pavlovian effect. Grapevine Effect History and Notable Features

If I were asked to name the best table grape varieties for Moscow and the Moscow region, I would not think much. The climate is harsh, sometimes unpredictable, summers are warm, winters are cold, the shorter the ripening time for grapes, the stronger the immunity of the plant, the better. Choose any seedlings with a maturity of 95-120 days, you can't go wrong.

If you are running a summer cottage in the north-west of the Moscow region, then squeeze your will into a fist and forget about everything that matures for more than 115 days.

Muscovites often complain to me: they planted different varieties, but unsuccessfully - sour, tasteless, and the recommendations were the best. If you ask for the names, and, indeed, the varieties are excellent! But the ripening time is 130-140 days. You have to wait a couple more weeks for it to ripen, and then it started to snow - your schedules did not match, hence the disappointment.

A couple of years ago, when we came to exhibitions in Moscow, we were surprised by the modesty of the requests of Muscovites. Do you have Isabella? we were asked. The varieties Aleshenkin, Rusbol, Korinka were very popular. Old varieties, someone has a sincere love for them, but, as they say, you can do more!

Now we are increasingly meeting with growers who have extensive experience in growing grapes in the Moscow region, and with excellent results. At one of the exhibitions, we met a colleague who grows grapes in the north-west of the Moscow region, on peat bogs, about 50 varieties! We would immediately advise against buying some of the listed varieties, it is risky, but everything grows with him, and everything bears fruit.

Of course, I had to use various tricks and tricks: some of the plants were planted in greenhouses, some in insulated slides, something grows in open ground. But the fact is that Muscovites and residents of the region have much more choice than they imagine. Conclusion, be bolder, study successful experience and you will succeed.

And now the top 5. Of course, the “five” is in quotation marks, because it’s a pity to limit yourself to only five varieties. But, let's just say, this is a selection of varieties that you can plant and, without thinking about anything, they will not let you down.

Opens our hit parade Victor. Or Victor . In our nursery, we don’t worry about stress, grapes respond to both options.

What will interest you? Maturing terms - 95-105 days. In mid-August, if the weather does not suit malicious intrigues, you will already enjoy its harvest. The berries are large, if not huge. Normally, their weight is 9-14 g, in some cases up to 20 g. Victor everything is pleasant - both color, and taste, and obesity of large, rich clusters. The mass of one is from 500 g to a kilogram. This is not little Isabella. The taste is wonderful, the pulp of the fruit is juicy, dense, the mouth rejoices! wasps k Victor they don’t have any special claims, so the berries, if you have a weak appetite, can hang until October without any special external transformations. Even if they are slightly frosted, it will not cause them significant damage. But I hope you not only admire the grapes, but gobble up both cheeks, so such a deep hovering to your Victor does not threaten, it will be eaten before October.

The second grade, which is in constant demand in the vicinity of Moscow - Super Extra . The ripening terms are the same as those of Victor - very early, but I do not recommend leaving the berries on the vine for a long time, they will quickly lose their shape. But this is not scary. At this time, it's time to feast on your grapes, here with Super Extras and start. Her taste is simple, in the opinion of gourmets, but for me it is so wonderful. For the opening of the season - that's it. What else captivates in Super-Extre - extraordinary inner strength. Last year, in my dacha, two seedlings in a container, two-year-olds, hung on overexposure. In our nursery, it is customary to leave ovaries on seedlings so that the buyer himself removes them. This is such an internal ritual - the client sees that everything is in order with the seedling (someone needs more greenery and berries right away), and then he personally cuts off the inflorescence or an already formed bunch so that the seedling has enough strength to winter. There were just such clusters on my seedlings, by mid-August they were ripe, and I ate them - why will they hang? Ouch delicious! The color of SE fruits is white with green, in the sun they are filled with a soft, pleasant glow. The berries are large, egg-shaped, somewhat reminiscent of the berries of Arcadia, so I always confuse their photos if I forget to add captions to them.

Baikonur - my love. My weakness and my dream. An ideal variety (or rather a hybrid) in all respects - taste, color, optimal for the northern regions in terms of physical characteristics. It is noted that in the "norths" Baikonur proved to be even better than in the southern latitudes. I have already left seedlings for myself several times, but I succumbed to the persuasion of buyers, gave up and gave it away, with the thought: well, I’ll take some more for myself. And then… we ran out of them. I won’t save this year, I’ll definitely plant it. Already unbearable! Last season I did photo sessions with Baikonur starting from the moment when his barrels just started to turn pink. And enjoyed its coloring and coming into shape until late autumn. The bush in the nursery is young, there are still few clusters, the berries are not very large.

It is rare that a variety can cause such delight. I have one secret favorite, no two, trying which I cry with tears of tenderness, Baikonur added to my list of the most-most-most favorite varieties.

The color of the berries is purple-red, some with a dark blue, almost asphalt, black tint, in a beautiful spring. They remain on the vine for a very long time, the clusters are large 500-1000 g. The shoots ripen perfectly, there will be no problems with wintering. But the most important thing, of course, is the taste. It's hard to describe, almost impossible. Sweet, juicy, very light unobtrusive nutmeg tone. You will fall in love with him, that's for sure!

long awaited - another hybrid that I would like to recommend to residents of Moscow and the Moscow region, and other adjacent territories. His maturation time is a little later, but that's good. I don’t like it when all the berry pickers in the country shoot back and sit, miss, wait for the next season. long awaited will harmoniously prolong the grape pleasure. In terms of timing, it fits perfectly into the Moscow grape rows and has one nice nuance. Bone in berries long-awaited weakly expressed, often practically not felt, rudimentary. Some seedling sellers even include long-awaited to the list of raisins in your catalog. The grapes have a very beautiful, elongated, large bunch, elongated, large berries of amber pleasant color, which shine through in the sun, become almost amber ..

Another variety that you should definitely include in your grape collection is kishmish 342 . I myself am not a big fan of raisins, I don’t understand why chasing seedless grapes, simply because I’m too lazy to spit them out. By the way, I don’t do this with seeds, they contain the most useful substances that are in grapes (including the comb, but somehow I don’t want to eat it). The most important criterion for the deliciousness of grapes is when you cannot tell if there are seeds in it or not, but they are. But

The peasant farm "Klimanov", better known in the Samara region as "Kinel grapes", carries out the cultivation and cultivation of grapes on an industrial scale. It is the northernmost industrial vineyard in the country. In the Kinelsky district, about 140 varieties are represented on a plantation of 6 hectares. Of these, about 30–40 varieties are recognized as the best for growing in garden plots.

Among the table varieties of this grape, about 10 of the best stand out. These are varieties such as Victor, Transfiguration, Libya, Anniversary of Novocherkassk, Millennium of Mordovia, Kodryanka, Arcadia. Of the technical varieties, this is Kinelsky-1. The largest variety is Transfiguration. The largest berries are in varieties Victor, Anniversary of Novocherkassk, Monarch.

Kinel grapes - the best varieties

Table. Brief description of the best varieties.

Name, photoShort description

An old grape variety. Summer residents have already been tested. The grapes are large. Tolerates cool, wet summers well. Weather resistant. This grape belongs to table varieties. Ripens very early. Plants in height can reach both medium and above average sizes. They have dense clusters in the form of a conical cylinder, reaching 2 kg in weight. A new variety, bred in Novocherkassk. The variety ripens quite early. The bush grows tall. Gives large clusters with enlarged pink berries with dense pulp. Good tasting.

Small bunches in the form of a conical cylinder. Reach almost 100 g by weight. Greenish berries are small, juicy, with strong skin. Muscat taste.

Selection of planting material

grape seedlings

On a note! The most important thing when growing grapes is to choose the right seedling.

The seedling must be with normal leaf plates and at least 50 cm high from the beginning of the root system to the top so that it can be deepened to a depth of 50 cm.

When to plant?

Planting grapes should be from May to October. Kinel grapes are all with a closed root system. That is, you can get it out of the container, cut off the bottom of the container, and then plant the grapes to a depth of 50 cm so that the root system does not freeze out.

Step-by-step instructions for planting Kinel grapes

It is recommended to plant in a container, as the plastic serves as a heat shield that reduces the risk of freezing of the root system. Moisture must always be present around the roots, so crushed expanded clay is placed. Under the roots there is a litter layer of fertile soil, and even lower - 10 cm expanded clay. A hole can be dug or drilled with a 200 mm drill. This is enough and the plant is accepted.

  1. First you need to choose a seedling no more than 0.5 m long.
  2. Then dig a hole in the ground 0.6 m wide and 0.7 m deep.
  3. Fill the bottom with crushed expanded clay by 0.1 m so that moisture is absorbed faster. Pour 0.1 m of soil mixture on top (sand, humus, soil, wood ash).
  4. Plant a seedling on top and sprinkle half with earth.
  5. During the summer, up to 4 sleeves (shoots) should appear on the plant.
  6. In autumn, it is necessary to add soil to the very top of the hole.
  7. Sleeves should grow horizontally above the ground, not up.
  8. It is necessary to ensure that the shoots grow parallel to the ground, so that later the grapes can be conveniently covered for the winter.

Wasp fighting

Produced in the spring with the help of the drug "Adamant". In the spring, the wasps wake up from their winter hibernation. The uterus is preparing to give birth to offspring, and the wasps fly and look for food for her. The bait is made from pieces of meat, fish, mixed with the Adamant preparation, which is a poison that acts only on insects. It is long lasting. Wasps feed the queen, she dies.

top dressing

For Kinel grapes, Italian fertilizers from Valagro are recommended. Both root and foliar top dressing are used so that the roots get everything they need, the leaf has good photosynthesis, the vine ripens and a cutting can be obtained. Sleeves should be matured brown, with clusters and buds. Such an escape is already ready for winter, it will make excellent seedlings.

Important! Grapes need potassium, magnesium and phosphorus. In this case, the fruits will be very useful for the human body.

The earliest feeding is when the buds burst. At this time, give nitrogen (content - 30%).

In June, more phosphorus is added, which gives energy to flowering. Also at this time it is necessary to give boron (by the way, it must be given in May). In total, it is applied 3 times before flowering. This is done so that the pollen is not dry. Otherwise, it does not pollinate plants, berries are not formed or are formed, but very small.

In the second half of summer it is not necessary to give nitrogen. It is necessary to include potash fertilizers in top dressing. This contributes to the fact that the wood itself becomes more dense. Calcium is also used to help the proper formation of cells.

In the autumn, increase potassium. Processing is carried out after harvest. To increase winter hardiness, boron, magnesium, calcium, manganese are introduced in autumn.

Grape seedling care

After planting seedlings, it is especially important to properly care for the grapes. Regular procedures must be performed to obtain strong shoots. Care includes painstaking soil cultivation, proper watering, loosening and top dressing, protection from diseases and pests, as well as sheltering plants for the winter.

Young plants in the first 12 months after planting are very demanding to care for. If everything is done correctly during this period, then in the future Kinel grapes will delight with good harvests from year to year.

The main thing to focus on is the formation of strong shoots. It is better to strive for the development of one viable and strong arm than to try to support the growth of several weaker shoots. They may not bring forth a harvest. It is also very important to prune the bushes. It is performed in the spring. At the same time, excess sprouts are cut off and the root system is released.

Grape bushes do not require a lot of moisture when watering. It is necessary to stop the procedure at the moment when the moisture stops being absorbed into the soil. Drying of the soil near the plants can be prevented by covering it with a layer of sawdust or film. It is advisable to add mineral fertilizers to the water for irrigation in the summer. In this case, they should be selected taking into account the composition of the earth. Acidic top dressing is chosen for application to alkaline soil. In this case, neutral fertilizers are also suitable.

Important! Another important event is the competent construction of grape shelters in the cold season. This will help him survive the frosts, preserving the future high harvest.

Kinel grapes are quite resistant to cold, but many varieties need winter shelter, which is a difficult procedure. First, the grapes are fertilized with minerals. It is produced in the last days of summer or at the very beginning of autumn. The composition of the fertilizer is selected based on the composition of the soil. Then in the fall, the soil around the plants is loosened. After 2-3 weeks, it is necessary to pour abundantly with water, filling the holes in width.

When the air temperature begins to drop below zero, shelter is made. To do this, do the following:

  • dig a small ditch to the width of the plants (its depth should be about 0.3 m);
  • tie the sleeves with a rope and carefully put them in the ditch;
  • pour soil on top (10 cm), then a layer of humus (10 cm) and cover with another layer of soil (10 cm).

Among all hybrid forms of grapes, varieties of the breeder Evgeny Georgievich Pavlovsky occupy a special place in our country. His undoubted successes include Rochefort, Super Extra, Monarch and several dozen more hybrids. Of the new forms, it is worth highlighting the Effect variety. Despite the fact that it is under study and not yet so well known in viticulture circles, the Effect deserves special mention, as it was bred to popularize viticulture in the northern regions. In addition, the general characteristics of this grape have made it possible to gain recognition in private vineyards in the southern regions.

Effect bush with a harvest in early August

Variety characteristics

The effect is a hybrid form of grapes, which was obtained as a result of the breeding activities of E.G. Pavlovsky. Parent varieties - Talisman and XVII-10-26 (very early red muscat).

Another name for this grape is Early Kinel.

The purpose of breeding the Effect was to obtain a grape variety that would be adapted to growing in the northern regions. The experienced Pavlovsky, on whose account dozens of hybrid forms, coped with the task.

Grapes have the main qualities necessary for the "northern" varieties:

  • early ripening of the vine;
  • frost resistance;
  • resistance to fungal infections and diseases.

In addition, the yield and taste properties make early Kinel popular in the southern regions.

Description of the main characteristic features of the variety Effect

Refers to early and very early varieties in terms of ripening. The harvest time varies depending on the region (late July - early August). The period of active vegetation is 100-115 days.

  • High yield with stability.
  • The flower is bisexual. High rates of pollination.
  • Well "holds" high loads on the bush. The norm is 2 bunches on the run. With such a load, the level of sugar accumulation does not suffer.
  • Bushes differ in medium or high growth, depending on the conditions and region of cultivation. With the formation of a large number of inflorescences on the shoot, 2-3 pieces, the overall germination of the vine slows down. For this reason, it is not uncommon for growers to point out the low stature of the Effect. The vine ripens well along its entire length.
  • "Produces" inflorescences on stepchildren.
  • It takes root and develops well with its own root cultivation.
  • Resistance to mildew, oidium and gray rot is high, but needs to be clarified, since these indicators are currently under study.
  • Frost resistance is high. There is no exact data at the moment, the approximate figure is minus 24 degrees.
  • Not of serious interest to wasps.

It is desirable to cover the effect in the first years

Features of care

The considered variety is unpretentious in care. In the descriptions there are no special requirements for choosing a planting site in terms of lighting and soil quality, which implies compliance with the general requirements for these parameters.

Medium height, the ability to regulate it by controlling the load on the bush, allows you to grow grapes in places with less free space. The distance between plants in a row is from one and a half meters, between rows - from two meters.

Preparing the site for winter - disease prevention

The big advantage is resistance to diseases and wasps. Such features make it possible to minimize the application and to be limited to standard preventive spraying and application measures. The effect does not require excessive attention to circumcision, autumn and spring procedures are enough. During the season, you can control the load on the bush, depending on the wishes of the grower.

Despite the fact that the variety has high rates of resistance to cold, it requires special attention to shelter in the central and northern regions.

The effect is perfectly propagated by cuttings

Varietal characteristics and fruits

Description of the bunch:

  • Beautiful bunches of medium and large size.
  • The average weight is 500-800 grams. It is possible to form clusters weighing up to two kilograms.
  • Clusters can remain on the bush for a long time, do not lose their qualities in terms of berry taste and appearance.

Description of berries:

  • Fruit weight from 6 to 9 grams. Size - 28x26 mm.
  • The shape of the fruit is round or round-oval.
  • The fruits are small in size, which is often indicated as a minus in terms of marketability.
  • Color - red-violet. When stored on the bush until mid-September, the fruits acquire a pronounced black color with a very high sugar content.
  • The pulp is firm, juicy. The skin is dense, when eaten it is not felt.

Berries varieties Effect large and dense

  • The taste is sweet, with pronounced nutmeg notes.
  • Perhaps a little pea. Most descriptions indicate that the Effect is not subject to peas, but many growers indicate such a trait, although they emphasize its insignificance.
  • Berries are not subject to cracking and decay, even in seasons with alternating rains and dry hot weather.
  • High rates of transportability and marketability. The effect is in great demand among consumers, and popularity is noted in the markets in the southern regions, despite the small size of the berry.

Grown for fresh consumption. The effect often becomes the choice of growers as a variety for sale.

Question. Stepan Viktorovich Drozdenko (Kinel) asks:When is the best time to plant vines?

Olga Mikhailovna Nechaeva asks: why do you talk so little about grapevine cultivation?

Dear gardeners! Two years ago, we published articles about this crop in several of our magazines, in which the famous Samara viticulturists Kalashnikovs shared their experience with you. Obviously, you have recently started reading our magazine, so we repeat the article from the September 2013 magazine.

1. Where to buy good varieties of grapevine?

I took seedlings from the famous winegrowers of Samara - Kalashnikovs. I was in their garden, I saw their vineyard with more than a hundred varieties with my own eyes. She ate berries from the best bushes. I had many hours of conversations with Valentina and Victor regarding the latest, most promising varieties and hybrids of this most interesting culture.

Having eaten, heard enough and made sure that I had highly qualified specialists in front of me, selflessly in love with their work, I took from them the best that is in the Kalashnikov collection. Although it was difficult to choose, they do not hold bad ones. Why occupy the land with mediocrity when so many interesting varieties and hybrids appear every year around the world (and they have both French and American varieties in the garden).

Sometimes they have to uproot very good bushes in order to plant a rare specimen of a supernova.

The Kalashnikovs believe that September is the best time to plant grapes, contrary to popular belief that it can only be planted in spring, but it must be planted correctly so that it does not freeze.

2. Technique for planting a vine.

Viktor Kalashnikov digs landing holes at least 80 cm deep. A broken red brick is placed at the bottom - this is drainage, a layer of wood waste (old logs, boards) is laid on top of it - so that the drainage does not “float”. Such a flooring at the bottom of the pit cuts off deep cold well - all seedlings of fruit and ornamental crops like this, keep this in mind. I now do drainage for all plantings.

Another feature is the installation of an irrigation pipe in the landing pit. I use a plastic pipe with a diameter of 3-5cm. Cut its lower end obliquely so that the water passes freely and install the pipe so that its upper end rises 5-10 cm above the soil surface

Now it is necessary to mix the soil taken out of the pit with fertilizers: two buckets of humus, two liters of ash, two glasses of superphosphate and a bucket of expanded clay chips.

We pour the fertile mixture on the bottom of the pit about 25 cm high, put the seedling, cover it with earth, water it abundantly, mulch.

The main mistake of novice summer residents is that grapes are planted like an ordinary seedling, but it must bedeepen . The distance from the heel to the upper edge of the pit should be at least 40-45cm. The heel on a grape seedling is called the place where the roots begin to grow.

Since planting is carried out by transshipment, there is no need to worry about the survival rate of grapes.

We will prune a young seedling in the spring for 2 buds. We will make shelter in the winter at the end of October with spruce branches - read about it in the next issue.

Attention!

Grapes have male and female varieties.

Kira Stoletova

The popular Kinelsky grape is characterized by a large number of varieties in its series. Their main feature is that they all belong to early crops and give a harvest by mid-July.

  • Arcadia

    This early table Kinel grape is characterized by a vegetation period of 100 days. The height of the bush is 3-4 m, depending on the conditions of care. Flowers are bisexual. A variety of Arcadia is able to withstand frosts down to -20 ° C.

    Fruits are large, saturated green color. The weight of an individual berry is 4-6 g. Cylindrical clusters grow up to 1.5 kg. The taste is pleasant. Sweetness is clearly audible. There is no acid in the composition, so it is not transmitted in taste.

    Transfiguration

    This Kinel grape is characterized by very early ripening. Vegetation lasts only 90 days until full ripening of the fruit. The variety is resistant to both drought and frost, therefore it is suitable for planting in all areas of the country. The maximum height of the bushes is 5 m. The leaves are large.

    Kinel grapes Transfiguration is characterized by medium-sized fruits. The weight of the berry does not exceed 4 g, and the cylindrical clusters reach a mass of 1 kg. The peel is dense, pink in color, with a pronounced wax coating. The taste is dominated by acid.

    Anniversary

    Kinelsky grapes of the Yubileiny variety are distinguished by a number of characteristics:

    • resistance to frost and drought;
    • early ripening - only 90 days;
    • height of the bush (up to 4 m);
    • the size of the berry and bunch: the berry reaches a weight mark of 6 g, and the bunch - 900 g;
    • the color is pale pink, the peel is dense, not translucent.

    The principle of cultivation

    Planting is carried out only after a high-quality seedling of Kinel grapes is found. It is better to buy it in specialized nurseries or from trusted private suppliers. A prerequisite is the availability of a grafting site and the optimal height of the seedling is 50 cm. It is allowed to buy taller plants, but seedlings below the specified height cannot be purchased. Landing is carried out at a depth of 50 cm.

    Choice of location and soil

    Sunny and unshaded areas are considered the ideal place for planting this crop. This variety is considered early, because it belongs to sun-loving crops. With a lack of lighting, the fruiting period increases.

    The soil must be nutritious, so it is preferable to plant in loamy or sandy soils with low acidity (up to 4%).

    The optimal time for planting Kinel grapes is the beginning of May. For 2 months, they begin to prepare the landing hole. It should be 100 cm deep and 80 cm in diameter. If groundwater comes close to the surface of the earth, a drainage system is installed at the bottom. It is easy to make from crushed stone or crushed silicate. With a low nutritional value of the soil, 5 kg of humus is also poured to the bottom.

    Landing features

    In May, the seedling is placed inside the hole to a depth of 50 cm. All varieties of Kinel grapes are characterized by a closed root system, so planting is allowed in containers, cutting off the bottom in advance. This will protect the young plant from frost and ensure proper root development.

    The roots are covered with the top layer of earth that remains after digging the hole. The seedling is watered with 20 liters of warm water and tied to a metal support up to 2 m high. The planting pattern for this crop is 4x5 m.

    Care

    Feeding is not the most important stage in care. This variety is able to give a good harvest, even with minimal fertilizer.

    The next year after planting, in the middle of spring, intra-root top dressing is carried out with a solution of potassium nitrate (50 g per 10 l of water). In summer, top dressing is carried out using a solution of superphosphate (40 g per 10 liters of water). In autumn, 3 kg of humus is added under each bush to prepare the plant for the coming winter.

    This variety does not need regular pruning. It is enough to periodically inspect the plant for the presence of dry and damaged areas. They are removed.

  • To get rid of powdery mildew, which appears due to viruses on weeds, a solution of wood ash helps (200 g of ash is infused in 5 liters of water during the day). Such treatments are carried out with an interval of 10 days.
  • The frequent appearance of wasps, ticks, birds and fleas is noted. Special mesh fences or shiny elements on the bushes help to get rid of birds. In the fight against wasps - sweet mixtures (jam, jam or honey), which are installed near the bushes. Ticks are fought with tincture of cayenne pepper (infuse 10 g of powder in 5 liters of water throughout the day). Fleas are disposed of with Oxychoma solution (30 g per 10 liters of water). Spraying is carried out with an interval of 15 days.

    Conclusion

    Growing a variety at home is easy. The main thing is to study all the intricacies of planting and care in order to grow tasty and healthy fruits.
