Functional partitions. Partitions for zoning space in a room

It is difficult to overestimate the importance of the living room in the life of any family. We spend most of our time here, gathering with the whole family or retiring to read a book or important work.

That is why it is very important to approach its arrangement correctly. Various partitions in the living room help to cope with this issue very successfully, they help to divide the space into separate zones and place all the necessary emphasis on the functionality of the room.

Although they can also be used as decorative elements.

Functions of partitions in the living room

Planning space and its proper distribution to ensure the greatest comfort and convenience for all family members.

Increasing the functionality of the room through the use of a variety of shelving and bookshelves as partitions. In addition, you can simply install additional lighting sources on the partitions.

The decorative function of a partition in the interior of a living room is that, being part of the room, it must fit harmoniously into the surrounding space and be combined in color parameters and material of manufacture.

Only if all three conditions are met, the partitions in the living room interior will look stylish and provide the greatest comfort in the room.

Types of partitions

Drywall partition: one of the most common options.

Partitions made of plasterboard in the living room have a number of advantages, including environmental friendliness and safety of the material, ease of installation, low price, as well as a variety of design solutions when decorating or combining with other types.

Among the disadvantages, it is worth noting fragility, as well as possible shading of some areas of the room. In addition, drywall is afraid of moisture.

Rack: indispensable for storing books, accessories and various household items that often need to be at hand. Shelving creates additional comfort in the room and fits seamlessly into almost any interior.

They do not clutter up the living room or darken it. One of the disadvantages is the need for constant cleaning.

Bar counter: one of the most convenient and useful partitions, which, in addition to performing an aesthetic function, can be quite successfully used as a small table.

In addition, the bar counter does not darken the space. However, it is not very convenient for small children and older people to use them.

It cannot replace a large dining table, since it can only accommodate 2 or 3 people. In narrow spaces, using a bar counter is impossible.

Screen: is a very light and effective design. The screen is easy to move and is quite mobile.

Another advantage is the variety of materials, which allows it to be used in various interior styles.

But it is not recommended to use this type of partition in an apartment where there are small children, since the structures are very fragile and not resistant to damage. Sliding parts sometimes wear out very quickly.

Furniture: you can use a closet or a small sofa as a partition. At any time, such a partition can be removed or replaced with another. However, this division of the room is conditional.

Sliding partitions: they easily perform the function of doors, allowing you to separate parts of the room from each other, turning a single space into two independent ones.

The structures are quite lightweight and can be made from a variety of materials. The disadvantage of this design is that folding and sliding parts can wear out quickly, and the structures are usually very fragile and easily damaged.

Arch: one of the most popular partition designs in the living room, it is distinguished by an abundance of shapes and types. Arches can be made of various materials, so they are suitable for any type of interior.

When choosing the most optimal option for a partition in the living room, you should first of all analyze the room in detail: area, functionality of various zones, lighting.

Materials for making partitions in the living room

Each material has its own characteristics and features, which should definitely be taken into account when designing a particular style of living room, when choosing the functional load on the partition and its aesthetic functions.

Today, the most popular partitions are made of plasterboard, plastic or glass, wood or chipboard. Let's take a closer look at each of them.

Drywall is the most popular and widespread material, quite easy to install and use.

This is a fairly inexpensive material with good quality characteristics. It is used both independently and in combination with other materials. Drywall partitions can be given almost any shape.

One of the classic materials has always rightfully been considered wood, which fits perfectly into any interior.

Its environmental characteristics speak for themselves. And the reliability of the material is beyond doubt. Wooden shelving or bar counters, as well as various pieces of furniture, look great.

Chipboard is a much more economical option than wood, but its quality characteristics are much lower. Most often used for the manufacture of shelving and individual parts of sliding partitions.

Glass can be present in partitions in various forms: these can be walls made of glass blocks, decorative stained glass windows. Glass should be used primarily in rooms where there is not enough light. Glass partitions are a great way to visually expand the space.

Plastic is most often found in the form of some individual decorative elements. You can use it to make parts of a bar counter or a small shelving unit.

But still, this material is not the best choice for an apartment.

Drawing ideas from numerous photos of partitions in the living room, remember first of all that it is important to maintain comfort and warmth in the apartment, and not to chase fashionable new items that do not suit you or your household in terms of character or mood.

Photos of options for placing a partition in the living room

Partitions are an integral part of many design projects, because they are original, practical and beautiful. Especially when it comes to small apartments, where you need to divide the space into zones for different needs without losing space. There are many types of partitions, and we will talk about them in this article.

Acrylic

Acrylic is impact-resistant, lightweight and flexible, which allows this material to be used in a wide variety of shapes. Partitions made from this material are an excellent solution for any room, because they are safe and easy to install.

Acrylic partitions can have not only a variety of shapes, but also colors (from standard transparent to gold or silver). They can be monolithic and openwork.

Bamboo

A bamboo product can be either a light partition or a massive decorative element. This depends on the thickness of the bamboo trunks, so for small spaces it is better to use thin trunks. Such screens are lightweight and practical, they can be moved depending on the need. However, bamboo is a very specific material that may not fit into every interior.

Plasterboard

Universally suitable for zoning any room. A plasterboard partition can radically change the space of a room, and it can be a blank soundproof wall or a minor structure that partially changes the perimeter.

The undoubted advantages of plasterboard are its ease of installation and finishing: it can be easily plastered and is suitable for any type of finishing materials. But it is not recommended to place shelves and other heavy elements on plasterboard structures; it is too fragile. Or you need to initially provide for this and strengthen the metal structure at the time of installation.

Another plus is that it is quite possible to create a curved structure with smoothly curved boundaries from plasterboard.

Wooden

Wooden partitions can be made of different materials, their appearance and purpose depend on this. For example, chipboard partitions can come in a variety of shapes - from shelves to a blank wall. They definitely require additional decoration.

You can use partitions made from pallets - these are boards that are not located closely. Often they are used to make original folding screens.

Partitions made from slats have an incredible number of variations - from simple designs to complex shapes. Such a wooden partition does not burden the space and allows light to penetrate into the separated part of the room.

Typically, partitions made from wooden materials are simply varnished so that the texture is visible. They are easy to make with your own hands, you just need slats or pallets, clear varnish, tools and imagination.

Designer

There are an incredible number of design ideas for partitions. Most often, modern designers create simple and very unusual options for partitions, for example, hanging vinyl records, disks or car numbers. There are false partitions made from stretched ropes, plastic bottles, screens made from old multi-colored doors, fishing nets, and even construction sets.

Partitions made of many threads decorated with beads look very interesting and easy. A partition made of stretched chains can fit into a bold modern design.

For a room decorated with eco-friendly materials, or for a country house, the option of a partition made of stumps and twigs is acceptable. There are paper partitions, for example, silhouettes of multi-colored butterflies on transparent threads. Partitions made from old window frames with or without glass are perfect for a retro-style interior.

Mirror

Mirrors always add light and expand the space, and also successfully hide what is behind them. The sliding partition design, reminiscent of a wardrobe, can combine both a mirror and a solid door. In this unusual way you can hide a dressing room and storage areas. Both practical and beautiful. And most importantly, much larger and more economical than a closet.

Alive

An original option is to create partitions in the room from greenery and fresh flowers. This method will help refresh any interior, but is more suitable for large rooms.

The easiest way to create such a partition is to place a large number of different plants on whatnots. It is important to understand that plants need good lighting.

You can implement a more complex option - grow a “green wall” of weaving plants or moss. It looks very cool, but such a partition needs constant care and a special microclimate.

You can also use a large aquarium as a partition; such an unusual solution will enliven the room. But this element of the interior requires constant care.

You can also organize your own waterfall as a partition.

From the blinds

Hanging partitions made from blinds will be a good alternative to fabric ones. They are easy to install, quite practical and come in a variety of shapes and colors. They can be removed as soon as they are no longer needed, in addition, they allow light to pass through and do not take up much space, making them great for small rooms. Vertical blinds are most often used, but there are exceptions.

Glass partitions along with blinds are often used in the interior, but this is more suitable for office or hospital premises, as it looks very laconic and somewhat “cold”.

Brick and concrete

In recent years, the “Loft” style has been quite popular, in which brick partitions are used for zoning. This is original and beautiful, but it is not always easy to correctly fit such a partition into the design of the room. However, if this succeeds, the effect will be amazing.

Typically, brick partitions are used in living rooms, halls and kitchens, less often in bedrooms. Such an element requires a lot of space, especially since a brick structure visually “heavies” the room, so this partition is suitable only for large rooms. A brick partition isolates rooms from sound only if it is made as a full wall.

Despite its “coldness,” brick can create an atmosphere of comfort if you build a real or false fireplace into it. This partition option is ideal for country houses.

You can make a brick partition with your own hands, and some carelessness will only be a plus for such an interior solution.

Forged

Luxurious wrought iron partitions are suitable for large spaces. Cold, but very beautiful openwork partitions serve to zone voluminous halls and living rooms. They can be not only stationary, but also mobile - in the form of screens. Such forged screens, especially white, can organically fit into the interior of a bedroom in the “Shabby Chic” style.

Often, forged partitions do not find practical use - they are simply a cold and stylish decorative element.

Furniture

Often cabinets are used as furniture partitions - from shelves to compartments. But this is not the only option. If desired, you can use almost any furniture, for example, put a sofa in the middle of the room, and divide the kitchen and dining room with a bar counter. You can also use a TV stand or a computer desk as a partition. And if you add textiles to all this, the zones will become much more pronounced.

Low

Low partitions purely formally divide the room into zones; their only practical use is to use them as a shelf or table, depending on the size. Such partitions can be made of any “solid” material: drywall, wood, glass, bamboo, and so on. Shape, color, material - it all depends on the purpose, interior and imagination of the author.

Plastic

They are in no way inferior to glass ones in terms of variety of design solutions; in addition, they can be not only static, but also transformable and mobile. This option is convenient to use for rooms with suspended ceilings.

Plastic partitions in children's rooms are very convenient and practical. They are safe, easy to clean and can fit into any interior thanks to the variety of shapes, designs and designs.

Sliding

A sliding partition for zoning a room can be made of various materials. Glass, for example, is suitable as a partition for a bathroom or shower. The undoubted advantages of this design are that it takes up little space and can become either a blank wall or a door between two rooms. Modular room partitions can be in the form of sliding doors. They will help divide a large room into two.

Glass

Glass partitions can be stationary or sliding. Typically, designers successfully use them to separate the workplace from the common space, corridors from living rooms. The main advantage of such partitions is light transmission, so glass partitions can be used in rooms with one window. Their disadvantage is that they practically do not perform a soundproofing function.

Frosted glass partitions are most often installed in bathrooms, but they are also perfect for the kitchen, study, living room and office and hospital premises. In addition, glass partitions can be made in different colors, which allows them to fit into almost any interior.

There are stained glass partitions, however, this option is only suitable for the appropriate interior. These bright and original designs can serve not only as a means of zoning, but also as a decorative element.

Shelving

One of the most functional types of partitions. Zoning shelves also serve as storage space. For example, very often they are used to separate a workplace from a common room. In this case, books and stationery can be placed comfortably on the shelves. You can make such a design solution with your own hands - you just need to decide on the design and dimensions.

Shelving does not overload the space, since light passes through them and, unlike many other types of partitions, they highlight zones in a single space, rather than dividing it into separate rooms.

Textile

Fabric partitions are the easiest way to divide a room into zones. Moreover, you just need to place guides or baguette on the ceiling and buy curtains in the desired style. At the same time, they can be changed periodically, using alternately thick and light fabrics, tied up beautifully, folded, and decorated with various little things.

Such soft partitions are ideal for children's rooms and bedrooms, but they look no less interesting in small living rooms. Quite often this option is used by restaurateurs to create cozy isolated areas in the common room.

Screens

This type of partition was invented in ancient China; they were used to protect against evil spirits. The first screens were made of paper and fabric, decorated with paintings and stones. Nowadays, screens are made from a variety of materials and serve as decorative partitions for zoning space.

There are many options for making screen partitions and both traditional materials (fabrics, thick paper) and modern ones (for example, plastic, acrylic) can be used. You can place hooks and small shelves and pockets for clothes and accessories on the inside of the screen, then it will also serve as a dressing room.

Most modern private houses and city apartments consist of several cramped rooms, and therefore many owners decide to combine them – rooms. As a result, they get one large room, characterized by multifunctionality - here you can simultaneously place a living room, a kitchen, a study, a bedroom, and a dining room. But it is important that such planning is carried out competently, and special attention should be paid to zoning. As a rule, partitions are used for these purposes to zone the space in the room, and they, in turn, can be a wide variety of designs. Actually, this is what we will talk about in today’s article.

Photos of partitions for zoning space in a room

On a note! Partitions are considered an integral part of most design projects. And it’s not surprising, because it’s not only attractive, but also practical and convenient. Especially if we are talking about a small-sized apartment, where it is necessary to divide the area for various needs without losing free space.

Features of space zoning - what you need to know

As a rule, people zone the living room, in which it is necessary to divide the entire area into two conditional zones: one for arranging a study or bedroom, the other for receiving guests or as a place to relax. In addition, it is with the help of partitions that children's rooms are zoned if separate areas for study, relaxation and games are needed. Zoning of kitchens is no less popular - here the space is divided into an area for preparing food and an area for actually eating it.

There are several common reasons why premises may be zoned. Let's take a closer look at them.

  1. It is required to divide the room into several separate zones with different functional loads. For example, you can combine a children's room with a living room.
  2. In addition, you may want to create an optical illusion to visually enhance the interior. For example, if a small room needs to be visually expanded, and a large one needs to be slightly reduced.
  3. Another common reason is the separation of the work area from the personal area.
  4. Finally, you may want to change the space depending on the specific time of day. This may include proportional allocation of specific zones. For example, when evening comes, a simple closet can be transformed into a comfortable folding bed.

Be that as it may, today, using a variety of methods and means, large areas of studio apartments are divided into a certain number of functional zones.

What about partitions in interior design?

To solve all the problems listed above, people have to resort to radical changes to the premises, but building new walls will require a lot of money, which is quite obvious, as well as a number of repair activities. Moreover, capital walls are not always comfortable. Therefore, they resort to an alternative option - this unique, but at the same time easy-to-implement solution consists of zoning the space using partitions. This idea comes from Sweden and is characterized by the fact that it makes it possible to more effectively manage your living space.

So, partitions for zoning space in a room allow you to solve all the problems associated with dividing a room into separate zones. Typically, every square centimeter in this case will be used as actively as possible and with maximum benefit. As noted earlier, there are many ways to zone a room, but the most popular are:

  • partitions made in the form of arches;
  • lighting;
  • false walls;
  • textile;
  • pieces of furniture;
  • sliding doors;
  • various kinds of decorative designs;
  • podiums.

  1. If you plan to allocate a children's corner, a greenhouse or, say, a study in the living room, then a proportion of 1:3 or 1:2 will be enough.
  2. With the help of an arched ceiling, it will be possible to emphasize the boundaries of zones.
  3. The largest part of the room should be located where there is a window.
  4. Finally, to separate the bedroom from the living room, you should install a partition in the middle. The height of this partition can correspond to the height of the room itself or be 2/3. Moreover, the structure can cover only 50 percent of the passage.

Note! False walls, which are made today in a wide variety of options, are also no less popular. What is typical is that in any case they will be decorative and functional.

Now, having familiarized ourselves with the important aspects of space zoning, we proceed directly to considering the most popular options for partitions.

Option one. Acrylic partitions

Let's start with the fact that acrylic is a very flexible, lightweight and durable material from which a wide variety of shapes can be created. Therefore, acrylic partitions are an excellent option for any room, especially since they are easy to install and completely safe.

We also note that such partitions can have not only any shape, but also any color (from golden to completely transparent). Moreover, they can be either openwork or monolithic.

Option two. Bamboo partitions

Bamboo partitions can be not only lightweight structures, but also massive decorative elements. It all depends only on the thickness of the bamboo trunks (for this reason, for small rooms it is preferable to use thin trunks). Screens made from this material are very practical and lightweight, moreover, if necessary, they can be easily moved. However, bamboo is still a very specific material that will not fit into every design.

Option three. Plasterboard partitions

Another popular option is partitions for zoning space in a room, made of plasterboard sheets. Such designs are universal, as they can be used in almost any room. They can completely change the entire space, and today there are not only blank soundproof walls, but also lightweight structures that only partially change the space.

The main advantages of plasterboard sheets include ease of installation and finishing work: if necessary, they can be easily plastered, and almost any finishing material can be applied to them. However, it is not advisable to place shelves or other heavy objects on such structures due to the fragility of the material. Or, as an option, you can take care of this in advance and strengthen the structure during the installation process.

Note! Another advantage of drywall is that it can easily be used to create curved structures with smoothly curved boundaries.

Option four. Wooden partitions

Different materials can be used for their manufacture, which, in fact, affects the purpose and type of structure. Thus, structures made of chipboard can be either solid or made in the form of shelves. However, in any case they need additional decoration.

Another option is partitions constructed from pallets (that is, the boards in this case will not be placed end-to-end). They generally make attractive folding screens. You can also use slats - designs made from them have many variations, sometimes having the most complex shapes. The space in the presence of such a partition does not become heavier, since light penetrates into the most remote corners.

As a rule, wooden partitions are simply varnished so that the natural texture of the wood is visible. The manufacturing procedure is not complicated at all - you only need a certain number of pallets/slats, tools, varnish and a bit of imagination.

Option five. Designer structures

There are simply a huge number of them! In most cases, designers create original and simple partitions - for example, license plates, vinyl records or CDs suspended on ropes. Constructions consisting of stretched plastic bottles, children's construction sets, and even fishing nets are also often found. Partitions consisting of numerous threads decorated with beads look original. And if the room is decorated boldly and modernly, then it can be decorated with a partition made of chains.

If the room is decorated with eco-friendly materials (or if we are talking about a country house), the partition can be made from twigs and stumps. There are also paper options - for example, multi-colored butterflies hanging on transparent threads. Finally, if the room is made in a retro style, then it can be zoned with a partition made from old window frames (glass may or may not be present).

Option six. Mirror designs

Let’s immediately make a reservation that a mirror not only visually expands the space, but is also able to hide what is located behind it. An excellent option is a mirrored sliding partition (like a coupe), which combines a door and a mirror at the same time. Such an unusual design can hide any utility room or dressing room. Both attractive and convenient. But at the same time much cheaper than a closet.

Option seven. So-called “living” partitions

One of the most original options for creating a partition is the use of fresh flowers and greenery. This way you can easily refresh any interior, but this method is more suitable for large rooms. The simplest way to create such a partition is to place a large number of different indoor plants on shelves. But do not forget that all these plants require good lighting.

An alternative option is to grow a kind of “green wall” using moss or climbing crops. It will look truly great, but such a partition will require a special microclimate and permanent care.

Another possible option is a large aquarium. This partition will enliven any room! But he also needs special care.

Finally, a small waterfall can also act as a partition, as in the image below.

Option eight. From the blinds

Another great way to zone a room is to make a hanging structure from blinds. Such partitions are easy to install, come in a variety of colors/shapes and are quite practical. If necessary, they can be removed; they are also compact and allow light to pass through. In short, the best option for small spaces. As a rule, in such cases, vertical blinds are used, although exceptions, of course, occur.

Quite often, blinds are combined with glass partitions, but such a tandem is more suitable for medical or office premises because it looks “cold” and laconic.

Option nine. Made of concrete and brick

The loft style, which has recently become increasingly popular, involves the use of brick partitions for zoning rooms. It looks attractive and original, but is not suitable for every room design. However, if everything works out, you will achieve an amazing effect.

Often, a brick partition can be found in the bedroom, living room, and kitchen. This element requires a lot of space, it also makes the space heavier, and therefore is only suitable for large rooms. The structure can also perform a soundproofing function, but in this case it must be made in the form of a full wall.

Contrary to popular belief, you can still create a cozy atmosphere with brick if you add a fireplace (even an artificial one) to the partition. This option is optimal for private houses.

You can build a brick partition yourself, and if it turns out careless, the room will look even more original.

Option ten. Forged structures

But such partitions for zoning space in a room are designed for large spaces. They are beautiful, but cold, well suited for large living rooms and halls. Typically, they can also be mobile (we are talking about structures in the form of screens).

As a rule, such partitions have no practical use - they only decorate rooms.

Option eleven. Furniture

Wardrobes often act as such – from compartments to shelving. However, there may be other options. If you want, you can use almost any furniture - for example, divide the room with a sofa or a bar counter. It could also be a computer desk or a bedside table with a TV. To highlight areas more clearly, you can additionally use textiles.

Option twelve. Low designs

Such partitions zone a room only formally, but from a practical point of view they can be used as a table or shelf (it all depends on the specific dimensions). Any “solid” material can be used for manufacturing - plasterboard sheets, bamboo, glass, wood and others. The color, like the shape, can be anything.

Option thirteen. Plastic partitions

They are characterized by a wide variety of design solutions, and can also be mobile or transformable. The best option for rooms with suspended ceilings. Plastic structures are extremely practical and convenient for children's rooms. They are distinguished by their safety, ease of care (you just need to wash them) and a huge range, and therefore will easily fit into any room.

Option fourteen. Sliding structures

Obviously they are made from different materials. For example, a glass partition will fit well in the bathroom. The advantage of sliding partitions is their compactness, mobility and versatility.

Option fifteen. Glass partitions

They are also sliding and stationary. As a rule, they are used to highlight a workplace. They are characterized by light transmission, and therefore can be used in rooms with only one window. As for the disadvantages, one of them can only be attributed to the lack of soundproofing properties.

If we talk about frosted glass partitions, they can often be found in hospitals, offices, kitchens, halls, and bathrooms. Such designs are also available in different colors, and therefore will fit perfectly into almost any design. Finally, there are also stained glass partitions, but they necessarily require an appropriate interior.

Option sixteen. In the form of racks

This is one of the most popular ways of zoning space. Shelving not only divides the room into zones, but also serves to store certain things. It is quite possible to make such structures with your own hands, but to do this, you should determine in advance the dimensions and the design of the partition itself.

We also note that the space is not overloaded due to shelving, because they allow light to pass through, which cannot be said about most other options.

Option seventeen. Textile

The simplest way of zoning is to use fabric partitions. You just need to fix the baguette/rails on the ceiling and purchase suitable curtains. What is typical is that the latter can subsequently be changed from time to time and supplemented with various decorative details. Such designs are ideal for bedrooms and children's rooms, but are often found in small living rooms. Finally, they are also often found in restaurants.

Option eighteen. Screens

They, having been created back in Ancient China, once protected residents from evil spirits. Even then they were made from fabric and paper, decorated with stones and paintings. At the moment, various materials are used to make screens, and they themselves are successfully used in zoning rooms.

The range is huge, and both traditional materials and more modern ones can be used - acrylic, for example, or plastic. This concludes the review of possible options, let's proceed to practical actions - let's look at how to make such a partition using sheets of drywall.

Partition in the room - step by step instructions

As noted earlier, partitions for zoning space in a room can be successfully made with your own hands. In our example, drywall will be used. The structure itself will be built on the attic floor. You can familiarize yourself with the specific algorithm of actions below.

Step one. This attic will subsequently be divided into several separate rooms. The partition itself will have an irregular shape, which is also important.

Step two. First you need to take a coated cord and make a line on the floor, according to which the structure will be built.

Step four. After this, the profile should be attached to the floor using dowels.

Step five. A building level is taken and with its help the ceiling profile is fixed exactly above the floor profile. It’s great if you have a laser level at hand - this will make the process much faster.

Step seven. A building level will also be required here, since the racks must be positioned strictly vertically.

Step eight. To attach vertical profiles to horizontal ones, you must use crimping pliers.

Step nine. After this, you need to install the door lintel - first, it is fixed on one side, then aligned on a horizontal plane and secured on the other side.

Step ten. In our example, another partition is installed nearby, which is necessary to disguise the wooden stand. When the partition is ready, the wire for the switch is inserted into it.

Step eleven. Next, the wire needs to be brought to the future location of the switch. After this, the structure is sheathed with plasterboard sheets on one side. For fixation, screws are used (in increments of 15 centimeters).

Step twelve. Before laying the second row, the joints are coated with glue.

Step thirteen. Upon completion of the cladding, mineral wool 10 millimeters thick is laid inside the partition.

Step fourteen. When installing the second layer of mineral wool slabs, an offset must be observed in order to achieve the best insulation.

Step fifteen. The structure is sheathed with plasterboard sheets on the other side. Don't forget about the hole for the switch.

Step seventeen. Finally, the door frame itself is installed.

Step eighteen. The door is being installed. That's it, the work can be considered successfully completed!

After all, they can perform different functions based on the overall design of the home.

They are made from a wide variety of materials. They are used for zoning rooms, supports in the storage system, setting up video zones, or even simply performing a decorative function.

We invite you to familiarize yourself with the photos of the interior partitions presented in this article.

To some extent, an interior partition can be called the same wall, but in a simpler and lighter design. The main task of this design is to divide the space, i.e. to zone it. They can be deaf, combined, transparent.

Stationary partitions - an alternative to a wall

There are interior partitions made of plasterboard, as well as brick, stone, foam concrete, wood, and glass blocks. They help not only to zone the space, but also isolate sound.

In addition, they are endowed with excellent moisture-resistant properties, are quite durable and will last a long time. You can even mount devices like shelves, hangers, TVs, etc. on them.

Partitions, which are called screens, are some kind of supports with material attached to them, like a screen. Based on how complex such a design is, as well as on the material used, they are installed independently, or with the help of specialists.

In general, such options are quite durable, but drawers with shelves cannot be attached to them. Their advantage is their inability to completely isolate light between rooms.

Interior partitions in apartments in the form of shelving have gained considerable popularity today. They can be open, combined, from the floor or at a distance from it.

It all depends on how exactly the furniture is located in the area where the partition is installed. The rack can be double-sided, blank on one side. Such structures are strong and durable.

A fireplace structure is one of the interesting ways of construction. The air duct of the hearth is located in the septal cavity, for which it will have a considerable internal space.

The advantage of this fireplace design - inside the partition - is the ability to observe the flame from any part of the room. At the same time, the designs are endowed with a disadvantage. After all, to install a fireplace in a high-rise building, you must obtain the appropriate permits.

There may be partitions representing a complex of storage systems along with work surfaces and household appliances. For example, see the following photos of partitions.

Rotating partitions, sliding

Sliding interior room partitions are a functional element for home interiors. Such designs allow you to be walls and doors at the same time. Regardless of the method of opening them, the main task still remains to zone the space.

Using glass compartment partitions, functional areas are effectively separated. For example, if the living room is combined with a bedroom, the recreation area is separated just fine with the help of such a partition!

The same applies to the work area, dining room, children's area, if it is combined with a living room. Thanks to such partitions, additional sound insulation is created in the room, and they serve a lot. Well, you will have to think about how to make an interior partition of this type, since it will be quite difficult to make and install it yourself.

Options for sliding partitions that work on the principle of horizontal blinds will look great, especially if they are made of wood that matches the main interior design.

Vertical rotating options for partitions help create different levels of closure in the functional area. Such options are often equipped with an electric drive, as well as a remote control.

And the easiest way to install partitions for zoning or separating parts of rooms from each other is the simplest textile curtains, which can now be bought in any design.
