Decorative tree with your own hands from branches. Craft house from branches

Crafts from tree branches with your own hands are a great and easy to implement way to decorate your home, make the interior truly unique. Even such crafts can become an original gift for loved ones, and if children are involved in the process, then the lesson will become a true field for creativity!

On a note! The variety of crafts made from branches is impressive, as you can see for yourself by looking at the photo below, and therefore it is not easy to single out any one option. There are so many ideas that there are enough for everyone!

But before you create such beauty with your own hands, you should take care of the right choice of blanks.

How to choose branches for work?

To make a beautiful craft, you should choose the right source material. Straight, not very dry branches are most suitable - for example, part of a pine / spruce (but it is important that they are free of resin).

If the craft is small, then it is convenient to use linden, birch for its manufacture, since such wood is easy to process. It is also important that the branches are not eaten by beetles.

It is also important that the rods are flexible and with little moisture. Sometimes forked branches (such as forks) are needed, but working with them is more difficult - skills and some kind of experience are needed.

How to prepare branches?

To create a durable and beautiful product, you need to know about the proper preparation of branches for work. The following steps are required!

Table. Stages of preparation of branches.

Name, photoShort description
If the branches are not dried, the craft will warp. Drying should last from 10 to 14 days (if the temperature is room temperature) or a week (if you put the branches on the battery). There is another option for the especially impatient - use the oven. In this case, several hours at a minimum temperature will be sufficient.

To prevent insects from appearing on the craft, the branches are disinfected before starting work with a weak solution of potassium permanganate.

Craft - a fence made of branches

The appearance of crafts can be improved by applying varnish or paint. Moreover, processing can be carried out both at the beginning of the process, and already with the finished product.

Storage rules

If you do crafts regularly, that is, it has become your hobby, then learn how to properly store blanks. Branches selected in accordance with the requirements listed above, pack in containers and keep in some cool place (in the basement, for example, or in the refrigerator). If they dry out during storage, you can slightly moisten them with water.

After preparing the source material, you can start fantasizing.

Home decoration with original crafts from branches

To decorate a bedroom decorated in an ecological style (or eco-style), you can use curtain rods made from thick branches. The hallway can be decorated with branch hangers with strong knots.

Note! The dining area can be decorated with an unusual floor vase made of cereals and branches. And for the living room wreaths, shelves, various frames are suitable.

This, of course, is far from a complete list of what you can do yourself from branches. Let's get acquainted with the most popular ideas.

Option number 1. Photo frame

To make a frame from branches, you need:

  • the branches themselves;
  • glue;
  • base (you can cut it out of thick cardboard);
  • decorative elements.

Glue gun

The algorithm of actions will look something like this. To begin with, one branch is glued along the frame (you can use a thermal gun or ordinary glue), the second is placed next to it and fixed in the same way. Work continues until the entire base is filled with branches.

Voids, overlaps and corners are decorated with beads, coins, small pebbles, shells, moss, etc.

As a result, you will get a frame. You can glue a ribbon in the form of a loop to its back side to hang the finished craft on the wall.

Option number 2. Vase of twigs

There is nothing complicated in making such a vase. A plastic bottle (although a shampoo bottle, juice bag, etc. can be used instead) is cut to the required height; prepared branches break off under the same size.

Next, the base is cut out (a kind of substrate to which the branches will be glued), for which a sheet of thick paper is suitable. The substrate is attached to the bottle with glue or double-sided tape. Next, double-sided tape is glued to the paper, and on it, in turn, a piece of fabric (it must be cut according to the size of the bottle).

On a note! The branches are stacked vertically, it is important that the latter has the same length as the circumference of the bottle.

PVA glue is applied to the fabric on the bottle, after which a masking tape with sprigs is applied. For greater reliability, you can tie everything with twine, after which it remains only to paint in the desired color. You can decorate such a vase with various insect figurines, decorative flowers made of ribbons, etc. At the end, put a bouquet in the vase and enjoy the beauty made by yourself!

Option number 3. Christmas wreath

In Western countries, houses are often decorated with such wreaths. They look really beautiful, and therefore you should definitely consider the original version of making a wreath from branches.

Getting ready to start:

  • willow branches;
  • decorative tape;
  • cones;
  • scissors;
  • special wire (it is called floristic);
  • garden scissors;
  • lotus seed boxes;
  • twine;
  • St. John's wort branches.

Step 1. To begin with, a piece of wire is cut off, several branches are wrapped around it (it needs to be made in a dense layer).

Step 2 The second beam is created in the same way.

Step 3 One longer bundle is made from two blanks.

Step 4 To make the fixation more reliable, you can cut off another piece of wire.

Step 5 The workpiece is bent, it is shaped like a wreath (see the photo below).

Step 6 Fix the workpiece with wire. You need to act carefully so that the wire does not stand out against the background of the branches.

Step 7 Cones prepared in advance are attached to the workpiece using the same wire.

Step 8 The composition is decorated with seed boxes and branches of St. John's wort. To make the fixation more reliable, use a thermal gun.

Step 9 A couple of branches of St. John's wort is attached to where the willow branches are connected.

Step 10 A tape is taken, a piece of the required length is cut off from it. The wreath is wrapped with ribbon, a knot is tied, and the ends are cut off (but so that they hang a little).

Step 11 Another piece of tape is cut off, the same place is wrapped around it. If you want, you can additionally make a big bow. Everything, the wreath is ready, now it will become a great decoration for your home!

Option number 4. Beautiful branch lamp

We offer another master class - on creating an original autumn lamp.

For its manufacture you need:

  • dry branches (it is important that the length / size are different);
  • old lampshade;
  • acrylic paints;
  • vase;
  • thermal gun;
  • alcohol;
  • lamp, wires to it;
  • sequins;
  • brushes;
  • cones;
  • basis for future construction.

Step 1. The vase is treated with alcohol, after which branches are glued to it using a thermal gun.

Step 2 Branches are gradually added, but it is important to leave a small area without them.

Step 3 The lamp in the lampshade is lowered into a glass vase.

Step 4 Branches are glued to the area without branches, which was left earlier.

Everything, the original lamp is ready for subsequent operation!

Step 6 If desired, the branches can be additionally painted. In our example, this is done with white acrylic paint.

Here's what it looks like after painting.

Step 7 If the vase will be used in winter, then it is better to use silver paint for painting cones and branches; additionally can be used to decorate sequins.

Step 8 Fans of the Scandinavian style can apply several shades at the same time. For example, pink and white is a great combination for this composition.

Option number 5. Branches for decorating a bouquet

Floral arrangements always evoke special admiration. And there is nothing surprising in this, since each such composition is unique. Consider how to decorate a bouquet in an original way with the help of branches.

For work you will need:

  • the branches themselves (including those with leaves);
  • decorative tape;
  • flowers;
  • secateurs;
  • wire cutters;
  • decorative wire.

Secateurs prices

Step 1. First of all, the branches are cut - they should eventually have the same length. Then a pair of pieces of wire (also of the same length) is cut off, they are folded in half. A stick is placed between the pieces of wire, one turn must be made on each side. So it will be securely fixed.

Step 2 The remaining sticks are added in turn.

Step 3 The ends of the wire are securely fixed. The result is a kind of path made of sticks.

Step 4 The finished path is laid on the table, branches with leaves and flowers are evenly distributed on it (as in the image below). The distance between them should be small. After that, the track twists, but not very tightly.

Step 5 The ends of the track are connected, for which a small piece of decorative wire is used.

Step 6 The composition thus obtained is decorated with a bright satin ribbon.

Step 7 The finished composition is placed in a low glass container filled with water. Thanks to this craft, even the simplest and most monotonous interior will be transformed, filled with freshness and lightness!

Option number 7. Decorating an old screen with branches

To give a second life to an old screen, follow the simple step-by-step instructions below.

For work you will need:

  • the screen itself;
  • white acrylic paint;
  • lace fabric;
  • stapler;
  • brushes;
  • branches;
  • scissors;
  • thermal gun.

Prices for staplers

Construction stapler

Step 1. First of all, the fabric is removed from the screen. Wooden elements are covered with two layers of acrylic paint, after which you need to wait for it to dry completely.

Step 3 A piece of fabric is attached to the screen using a mounting stapler. The fabric should be stretched so that it does not sag in the end.

Step 4 The branches are attached to the frame with a thermal gun.

Step 5 If you wish, you can additionally use cones of various sizes and thin twigs.

Step 6 The finished screen will decorate any room and will surely attract the attention of your guests!

How to zone space with branches?

As mentioned earlier, branch craft ideas are not just about small decorations. If desired, you can make high compositions with which you can divide the room into several functional areas.

To separate the living room from the bedroom, thick and tall branches of shrubs are often used, fixing them in holes on a wooden stand. The result is an openwork partition that transmits light and takes part in zoning.

Stylish candlestick

Dry and fresh tree branches are excellent material for crafts. From them you can make beautiful compositions, funny toys, home accessories and much more. We have made for you a selection of interesting master classes on the topic of crafts from branches with children with their own hands.

Your child should like both collecting material and creativity itself. It's really fun, exciting, really cool. Crafts from branches are good for their environmental friendliness and availability. In addition, they develop imagination, fine motor skills of hands, and also contribute to the correct concentration of attention.

All the proposed lessons on creating crafts with children are suitable for competitions in kindergarten or elementary school. We tried to choose the most original options. If you are faced with the task of making something from natural materials, we also recommend that you look at our selections for working with vegetables, cones or leaves.

How to prepare branches?

For crafts from branches, dry or fresh rods can be used. We would not advise you to dry them on purpose. If you need dry ones, collect them. Otherwise, you will have to wait long enough, as the best drying will be natural. Putting the branches in the oven is still not worth it. If there are no options, bring fresh branches home and lay them next to the battery. They will have to be left alone for about 2 weeks.

Crafts from spruce branches are very popular. If you decide to make some of them, go to the collection of material in gloves with sharp scissors. If you need fresh rods, also use scissors to avoid difficulties. Some branches should be stripped of bark - especially if it has already begun to lag behind. This is best done with a regular knife.

small house

One of the most popular crafts with children in school or kindergarten. We suggest that you familiarize yourself with a simple master class that even a preschooler can easily master. Too complex designs will discourage the child from all the desire to work, so it’s better to choose something affordable. This lesson is just right.

We will need:

  • cardboard or cover from chocolates;
  • dry branches;
  • dry leaves;
  • plasticine;
  • matches;
  • unnecessary wooden ruler;
  • any decor.

On the cardboard we draw a square 10 × 10 in size (it can be more or less, depending on the desired size of the craft). Now it needs to be filled with plasticine. Lay it in a layer of 1.5-2 cm. To make it more fun, use bright colors. In the central part we lay the branches to make the floor.

In the corners we need to install 4 vertical slingshot branches. Let's leave space for doors and windows, and fill the rest with a "fence" of rods. It's okay if they are not always the same length - something will hide the decor. To keep everything tight, add plasticine. You can hide traces of it with the help of leaves - just stick them on plasticine.

We start building the roof for the house with 4 main branches. For this, you will also need "slingshots". We insert them into those that stand vertically. Let's add a ball of plasticine here so that the house does not stagger and fall apart. At the top, cross the rods, pull them together with an elastic band. Then we add horizontal beams - we fasten them to plasticine.

We will not add vertical beams, since we will lay the entire roof with leaves. Put enough of them so that all the gaps are closed. Then, from 2 matches, make a crosshair for windows. The door is a piece of wooden ruler. Take gouache or colored markers to draw boards on it. Secure the door with thin wire.

It remains only to plant a funny little man to our house. It can be a ready-made toy or a potato animal, for example. Additionally, the house can be decorated with beads or something else. Attach any decor to plasticine.

panel

You can add any natural materials to this craft from branches. The more of them, the better. Schoolchildren can easily cope with this work, and if you help make the base, then the kids will be happy to participate in decorating your autumn picture.

We will need:

  • 4 thick dry branches;
  • dried flowers, spruce branches;
  • leaves;
  • strong thread or twine;
  • colored yarn.

We cross the branches with each other so that the ends stick out by 3-4 cm. We tie each corner with a thick layer of thread. Then we take colored yarn and perform a beautiful winding along the entire length of the product. Next, we just need to decorate the panel with leaves, flowers, or any other natural materials.

If you are making fall crafts with your kids for school or kindergarten, add more leafy branches or dry maple leaves. If you are decorating the house for the New Year, then insert fir branches between the yarn, and then decorate the craft with small plastic balls or snowflakes.

bird window

This original craft is unlikely to be mastered by a kindergartner, but a schoolboy will be able to do it. It can be made as an entry for a competition or just to decorate your home.

We will need:

  • 6 thick branches;
  • dry branches;
  • Rowan;
  • cones, leaves, dried flowers;
  • any decor;
  • leg-split.

If you have the opportunity, then the main frame can be connected with nails. Or drill a hole, and then insert the branches into each other like a constructor. If this is not possible, simply cross them so that the ends protrude 3-4 cm, and then tie them tightly with twine or thin wire. The crosshair is done in the same way.

If the structure seems a little wobbly at first, don't worry - we will strengthen it with thin rods. Make a double or triple winding with fresh or dry thin branches around the entire perimeter of the workpiece. Let them stick out in different directions - do not fasten the ends. Additionally, you can fix them with twine. Then in these places we will add decor, so that it will not be visible.

Plant a toy bird in the center of the window. In the corners, add decor from any natural materials. In this case, rowan and cones look the most beautiful. You can choose yellow instead of red: plant a titmouse and add maple leaves and orange rowan.

Children usually like these crafts because they can be decorated. Hang this decorative window and start the pleasant process.

Raft

This craft will also appeal to children because it will be possible to play with it. If you do not take your work to some competition, then go to the park to try out your ship in action. If there are no puddles or streams, launch your wooden raft right in the bathroom. It is no worse than factory ones (on the contrary, all materials are environmentally friendly).

We will need:

  • thick branches for the frame;
  • thin rods for the main part;
  • bark or fabric for a sail;
  • leg-split.

Branches should be straight enough to be laid out in one row. First lay 2 branches parallel to each other. Then start laying perpendicular rods, fixing them with a rope. It is convenient to pull the twine from both ends at once in order to tie one branch at a time.

We stick the sail for our ship between two twigs. We support it with a branch. Or we fix the branch vertically, and we stretch a piece of fabric on it. You can make a paper flag.

The craft turns out to be quite strong - the branches support each other well. This means that on such a ship you can roll light toys or transport "goods" during the game.

dolls

From the branches you can make many different dolls of varying degrees of complexity. We offer to get acquainted only with those master classes that the child can repeat with his own hands (with your help, of course).

We will need:

  • thick dry branches;
  • paints;
  • the cloth;
  • glue.

You can choose different branches. Make a doll depending on what material you have. For example, a family of gnomes for Snow White can be made from just one branch.

Use a knife to sharpen them to form hats. Clean out the paint bark at the top. If there are no suitable paints, you can take school putty, and then paint it with markers after drying.

From birch branches you can make a nice composition for a school competition.

We need thin and thick branches. The head and torso of men can be connected with a nail. The decor is simply fixed with glue. If you clean some places from the bark, they can be painted.

If something went wrong, and your little men do not look very presentable, add fabrics - dress them up in suits. Usually two or three shreds are enough to hide all the flaws.

Another simple option is to create outfits for twigs. So they can be easily turned into funny dolls.

Add colored paper, candy wrappers, shreds, threads. Attach all this to the branches with glue. Doll faces can be made using paints or markers. You can also use beads or plastic eyes that are attached to the glue.

Hair the dolls or add paper hats. You can also play with them - it's fun. And if you are decorating an autumn craft for kindergarten, add dry leaf skirts to the outfits and put the dolls on cardboard using plasticine.

We hope that you and your child will enjoy these workshops on creating crafts from branches. It's simple and fun, so feel free to get down to business on any free evening. The collection of material, as well as the creation of the craft itself, can be turned into a game. Add chestnuts, cones or something else to your compositions - you will love it!

First you need to cut a lot of sticks that are square in cross section on a circular saw. Approximately 16mm thick. If there are six crowns in this house, then 24 sticks are needed. Our house is square in plan, which means the sticks are needed the same length. The length of the sticks must be chosen according to the length of the future walls of the house. Plus 2 inches.

Then you need to give the sticks a cylindrical shape. This is usually done on a special machine. We don’t have it, so we use a regular wood lathe.

The front and rear centers of the machine leave quite noticeable indentations when processing on a stick. Therefore, the ends of the sticks, where the recesses remained, must be cut off. A centimeter on one side and a centimeter on the other. And so you need to process all 24 sticks.
In this picture, the depressions are clearly visible.

Then two indentations are cut in each stick.

Then we smear these recesses with glue "Joiner" (quick-drying PVA). If necessary, then smear the entire length of the stick.

And we glue. Crown after crown.

Until we collect the whole log house. The “joiner” will need about 15 minutes to dry. Therefore, all this time the entire log house must be pressed from above. You can just use your hands. When everything is glued together, it should look like this.

Now we mark the slots for the door and windows.

And saw through with a jigsaw.

Before cutting out the windows, we drill a hole in the wall of the house. We will then insert a file into it. Sawing window and door openings will just show us whether we glued the sticks tightly or not.

Where necessary, cut with a knife.

As a result, we should get this.

Then we grind and trim the ends of the logs on a rotating plywood wheel with sandpaper.

We paint the house with a strong solution of manganese. Can only be outside.

When the manganese dries, wipe the house with sandpaper. So we have a stretch in color. Some places are highlighted, others remain dark.

The result should be like this. Here we have blanks for two houses at once.

Then we cut out two triangular pediments from fiberboard. The roof angle on most houses is 90 degrees. In the blank of the pediment, you need to make two semicircular cutouts for the sticks. They are made with a semicircular chisel.

Then birch bark is glued onto these blanks. And already an embossing is made on it, depicting boards and the structure of a tree. Embossing can be done with a very large needle. Then the embossed surface is painted with manganese, and the excess dye is erased with the 646th solvent. You need to rub hard. Firmly pressing a cloth moistened with solvent to the birch bark. It should turn out like this.

Then windows are cut out of birch bark according to the size of the openings. Double layers are better. Then they need to be glued together and glued into the openings.

But the windows and gables are already glued into place.

Then we make the roof. The roof is made of birch bark on a cardboard base. On the birch bark, rows of scales are cut with two incisors. And thick cardboard is first dyed with manganese, then with a non-aqueous stain for shine.

A wooden house is an interesting element of decor and decoration for a children's room. If your little princess is growing up and her dolls simply need a chic apartment.

Wood is an eco-friendly material, and branches can be easily found in the park near the house, DIY crafts come out of them magnificent.

House of branches

Material selection

In a famous fairy tale, three little pigs built houses from different materials, only the stone one survived. We are not afraid of the gray wolf, adopting the experience of Nuf - Nuf, we will build a house of branches with our own hands. First of all, we go to the forest or to the park, in search of wooden materials.

It is better to choose a clear autumn day for this.

For decoration, moss, pieces of bark, coniferous needles, acorns, cones are useful, take whatever you like, come in handy for decorating crafts.

If the weather was wet, everything will have to be thoroughly dried at home, wet blanks will not stick.

To build a hut with your own hands, the branches do not need to be cleaned, on the contrary, the more roughness and negligence, the more interesting and natural the craft will be. We carefully examine all the material and build a plan for the future home.

If your imagination is well developed and able to capture images, you can not draw a sketch. But a little sketch is worth doing.

We select suitable wooden branches and cut them according to the sketch. To avoid too large gaps in the craft, make notches on both sides, as on logs for building log cabins.

Construction works

It is easy to build an ordinary wooden house with your own hands, just fold the shelves alternately up and down. For structural strength, each row must be coated with glue, use ordinary PVA or a hot glue gun.

Don't forget to leave room for windows and doors. Window frames and a door can also be made from glued branches or from a small piece of plywood.

MORE ABOUT: How to make a match house with your own hands: step by step photo instructions

We make the frame for the roof from the same branches, but the coating can be the most diverse. Yellow fresh straw will shine brightly in the sun. Small twigs will ensure the unity of the composition, and colorful autumn leaves will create a festive mood.

Decoration

Decorate the local area of a wooden house with moss and other natural materials. Excellent mushrooms will come out of acorn caps. Coniferous bushes will create an entourage for crafts.

Or maybe you will get a real hut on chicken legs with a friendly hostess woman.

You can build a house with your own hands in another way. Use ancient weaving technology. This technique makes excellent round buildings for kikimora.

A curious effect is given by the chaotic gluing of knotty pieces onto the frame - the base.

House of ice cream sticks

To collect the required number of wooden sticks, it is not at all necessary to collect them for a whole year or count a ton of goodies at once. Now this is a very popular material, you can buy them in a needlework store or in a supermarket in the disposable tableware department.

New wooden sticks do not need processing.

Such a wooden house for a doll is very easy to make with your own hands.

We lay out the sticks in a row and fasten them across with another stick smeared with glue. In this way, walls and ceilings and even a roof are created. It remains only to glue the blanks together. From the same shelves it is easy to make a staircase to the second floor and furniture for the doll.

Bright and unusual wooden crafts come out of painted sticks.

It is better to paint them before making the craft, so you can avoid unpainted places and mixing colors of individual elements. Choose waterproof, odorless paint, take varnished acrylic.

From round ice cream sticks, real masterpieces are obtained, no different from the classic log construction. The only difference is the scale. We have to build two floors with a balcony and an entrance hall.

  1. For the base, take a piece of plywood of a suitable size. As a foundation, we use gypsum or foam.
  2. On the foundation, we begin to build a structure, starting from the floor. First of all, we build a frame and lay floor sticks on it. The finished floor should look like this:
  3. in each log we cut out a hollow, which will include the log of the previous row, and so on. From the same sticks we build a frame. It will help not only determine the shape of the future house, but also make the work more even.
  4. Don't forget doors and windows. We insert pre-prepared frame structures and decorate with curtains made with our own hands from a beautiful piece of fabric.
  5. Inside you can hold LED bulbs. Not only children will like this wooden lamp, but it will also be a good gift for a friend.
