What to do with the dismantled stretch ceiling. Removing the stretch ceiling and reinstalling it: types of paintings

Information on how to remove the stretch ceiling yourself can be useful in several situations. For example, in case of damage to the canvas. This is also true when repairing wiring, or its first laying, when it is necessary to completely remove the structure. It may also be necessary to partially dismantle in case of flooding in order to drain the water. If you do not want to seek help from professionals, then with the help of our recommendations you will know how to properly remove the stretch ceiling with your own hands.

In work, the main thing is to be careful, because our first goal is to preserve the integrity of the canvas. It is also important that the installers of the ceiling do not make it end-to-end in size, but leave a little material so that you do not have difficulty re-stretching, and all the holes for spotlights and chandeliers converge. This idea will not take much time, since it is quite possible to remove the stretch ceiling yourself. First you need to decide what material you have, and on what mounts it was installed.

Dismantling features

Materials for dismantling are divided into two types:

  • PVC: needs heat treatment during dismantling.
  • seamless fabric: do not require heat, and the removal process starts from the center to the corners.

Also, before dismantling, you need to familiarize yourself with the types of profiles and determine which one you installed. Profiles, or baguettes, are used when installing stretch ceilings as a support for fabric or film material. Fastening of baguette mortgages occurs to the wall. They are divided into two types.

  1. The first ones are made in such a way that it is possible to easily remove the ceiling structure, and then put it back in the same form.
  2. The second type was called “disposable” by the experts themselves, since it is impossible to replace the tension fabric from such a profile without damage.

When ordering a new blade for the first time, consult with the installers about which profile will be used for installation. Perhaps they will offer you a choice. The best solution is an aluminum profile, with which you can easily dismantle it at home. It is better to overpay once on high-quality material than to spend money on a new ceiling again.

In addition, there are different types of fasteners. It is important that the fasteners on fabric tension systems differ from those installed on vinyl ones. There are universal ones that apply to both types. In this case, the connection to the profile is created thanks to the glazing beads, which are quite difficult to remove in case of flooding - more patience and accuracy will be needed so as not to damage either the canvas or the glazing beads. It will be difficult to do without relevant experience here, so this method of fastening can be called one-time, but at the same time the most popular due to its low cost.

There are systems that facilitate the process of removing and re-stretching the fabric, and each type has its own. For PVC, the harpoon method is used, for fabric - plastic clips. It is important that with clip-on fastening it is impossible to remove part of the canvas, only the entire ceiling.

The process of removing a stretch ceiling from PVC in stages

After our article, it will be useful to familiarize yourself with the video on the YouTube channel in order to more accurately understand how to carefully remove the stretch ceiling. This process is similar to the installation of the structure, only it is necessary to act in the reverse order. Beforehand, you need to remove everything in the room, especially piercing objects, cornices, and remove all light bulbs, ceiling lamps, floor lamps and other lighting fixtures so as not to damage the canvas.

First you need to independently remove the rubberized insert between the ceiling and the wall. This is a simple event in which the main task is to find the junction of two connected parts. It is securely hidden if the installation was carried out by experienced specialists. It is easiest to find it in straight tension structures, since here the joints are usually located in the corners of the room. But if you installed a complex design model with numerous decorative elements, then you will need to make a little more effort.

The next step will be heating the room as a whole and the canvas separately using a gas gun. If you ignore this action, it threatens to damage the stretch ceiling and its unsuitability for further use. Carry out the work in parts, starting from the place that you are going to dismantle at the moment. Warm up the area thoroughly.

The video at the end of the article will show how the stretch ceiling is removed correctly: in the case of a standard rectangular canvas, start dismantling from the corner. With curvilinear ones (for example, an oval), you can not limit yourself in choosing and start from any convenient place. The best option is one where you can gently hook the edge of the film (well, or textile material). To determine it, you need a stepladder and a little care. Carefully study the perimeter for protruding edges that you can easily grab onto with long-jawed pliers. If there is no such place, then try starting from a corner or from its likeness - depending on the choice of design.

Life hack! In order not to damage the tension fabric with pliers, you can sharpen the outer corners of the tool (it is better to use an old tool for this purpose). Achieve the perfect smoothness with rounded and polished edges, and you don't have to worry about possible punctures.

Next comes the jewelry work - you need to pull the suspension material out of the profile so carefully that not a single scratch is left on it, regardless of whether it is PVC or fabric. This should be done carefully, without unnecessary movements, and only where the canvas is well warmed up. Since it is not always possible to remove the stretch ceiling on your own from the video, it is better to carefully read the dismantling conditions and unquestioningly follow all the instructions. It will not be superfluous to get an assistant who will move the gas gun as you move to the edge. Or you have to do it yourself, which is not very convenient.

The method of dismantling will also depend on the fasteners.

  1. In the harpoon system, it is correct to grasp the harpoon with pliers, and not the canvas, which can be ruined. After the partial release of the ceiling, you can continue the work with your hands, and not with tools. Use special gloves to avoid leaving marks on the heated material.
  2. In the bead (or wedge) system, the start of work is similar to that described above. To do this, you may need a narrow spatula with pre-sharpened sharp corners. Additionally, it can be treated with reinforced tape. The profile is slightly bent with a spatula to release the glazing bead. Then use a screwdriver with a sharp end to completely pull it out. If there is no spatula, then the wedge can also be reached with the help of hands.

For a fabric web, the process is the same only without preheating. To properly put the fabric back on, follow the sequence of actions, then you will not have any difficulties how to pull the removed stretch ceiling. The main thing is that during dismantling, all materials, including fasteners, remain intact.

Now you know how to remove and put on a stretch ceiling yourself. The main thing is not to be afraid to test your knowledge in practice. If you do not want to risk expensive material, seek the help of professionals who will do everything quickly and at a bargain price.

This article will help you deal with all the intricacies of dismantling: you will learn how to remove a stretch ceiling in stages, what tools are needed and how long this procedure takes. We guarantee that after studying this information, you will be able to make a decision: invite specialists to remove the ceiling or do it on your own.

Reasons for carrying out and types of dismantling work

The need to dismantle stretch ceilings can be both forced and voluntary. Most often, dismantling is carried out in the following situations:

  • If you were flooded with neighbors from above
  • During the reconstruction of the building or major repairs in the premises
  • When tears, holes or other defects appear on the ceiling
  • If you are tired of the pattern or appearance of the ceiling
  • In case of damage to hidden communications
  • If there have been significant changes in the interior of the room, and the stretch ceiling violates the overall harmonious picture

So, how to remove the ceiling yourself if one of the above situations arose? Before answering this question, you need to find out what type of ceilings are installed in your room.

  1. 1. PVC (high temperature is required to install/remove them).
  2. 2. Fabric.

The next important point to consider before removing ceilings is partial or complete dismantling?

Partial dismantling of the ceiling involves the release of a certain area in order to gain access to the necessary objects. For example, to repair damage to an electrical cable (if you know where it is or if you have a diagram).

If the neighbors who live in the apartment above you have a broken water supply and flooded the ceiling, then it is enough to remove a small section of the canvas to drain the collected water. That is, in this situation, you need a partial dismantling of the ceiling.

With the complete dismantling of the ceiling, all its elements are removed along with the main part. These works are carried out when the stretch ceiling is being replaced or you need full access to the communications that are under it.

Applied methods of fastening stretch ceilings

It is impossible to dismantle the stretch ceiling with your own hands if you do not know how it is attached to the main ceiling or wall. This information can be obtained from the masters who installed it.

Today, as a rule, the following methods of fastening stretch ceilings are used:

  • Harpoon. A hook-shaped edge is provided along the edges of the ceiling cloth. It enters the profile, which is mounted on the wall, and clings to the teeth. This method is relevant only for PVC stretch ceilings. The film itself is gradually stretched with a heat gun that creates a high temperature. In order to eliminate the gap that forms between the stretch ceiling and the wall, experts recommend using ceiling plinths.
  • Cam / clip. It is designed both for PVC (polyvinyl chloride film) and fabric stretch ceilings. The material may not be heated. The canvas is held by the profile plates. A fairly cheap and reliable fixation method.
  • Shtapikovy. The canvas in this case is tightly pressed against the walls of the profile with the help of "cams". This method is used for PVC stretch ceilings.
  • Wedge. In this case, the canvas enters the profile hole and is fixed with a special wedge. A very simple design that allows you to quickly and reliably install and dismantle the stretch ceiling.

The information provided will help you dismantle stretch ceilings with minimal effort and time.

Tools needed to remove stretch ceilings

Before proceeding with the dismantling work, it is necessary to prepare the tools, without which it is impossible to carry out this procedure. Please read the information provided carefully! You will also need specific equipment, which is rarely used for repair work.

So, it is desirable to carry out the dismantling of stretch ceilings having:

  1. 1. Spatula (preferably hard).
  2. 2. Special (construction) knife.
  3. 3. Bent screwdriver.
  4. 4. Pliers with elongated smooth jaws.
  5. 5. Clothespins for fixing the ceiling cloth.
  6. 6. Screwdriver.
  7. 7. Hair dryer (or heat gun).
  8. 8. Ladder-ladder or "goats".
  9. 9. Gloves.
  10. 10. Wide transparent tape.

Important point! To carry out work on the dismantling of stretch ceilings, you will need an assistant (the wife will not work). This is especially true in situations where a heat gun is used or if you do not have experience in carrying out these works.

Dismantling of stretch PVC ceilings

The process of dismantling ceilings begins with the removal of various decorative elements and lighting.

First, remove all fixtures, a chandelier and other elements that may interfere with the removal of the canvas.

Next you need carefully remove the plugs, which are located at the junction of the wall and canvas. It is enough to pry them with a spatula or a screwdriver (do not forget to wrap the metal part of these tools with paper).

The next step in this procedure depends on mounting method stretch ceiling.

With the harpoon method fixing, you need to pry the “hook” with a spatula with a hard spatula or a wide screwdriver and lift it up a little. Using pliers, you need to grab the freed edge of the canvas and remove it from the profile. After performing these steps, you can safely get the freed canvas.

To make the process go faster and easier, you need to warm up the harpoon with an ordinary hair dryer (well, or with a heat gun, if you suddenly have one).

Here are the real masters in great detail tell about all the stages removal of stretch ceilings with auxiliary tools ( start watching at 01:59).

If the ceiling was installed using a glazing bead, then you need to wring out the outer wall of the profile with a screwdriver and pick up the glazing bead itself. The canvas will be released and you can easily remove it.

When dismantling the ceiling, which is fixed with the help of "cams", you must act very carefully. In this case, you need to use two screwdrivers that will be in contact with the canvas, so experts recommend wrapping the tools with tape so that there are no sharp corners.

In order to remove the stretch ceiling, you need to insert a screwdriver between the cams in the corner of the room, and then after half a meter. You will be able to release a small section of the canvas, and by repeating the procedure, you can get the entire film.

Experienced craftsmen carry out the dismantling of stretch ceilings, which are installed using a cam method, using a spatula. To do this, you need to insert a tool between the cams and squeeze out the movable element, which will allow you to release the canvas and gradually dismantle the entire ceiling.

Features of dismantling fabric stretch ceilings

Fabric stretch ceilings are most often installed using a clip-on fixation system. The dismantling of such ceilings has one advantage - to perform this procedure, you do not need to heat the ceiling with a heat gun. But there is also a drawback - the large weight of the canvas.

Important. The fabric ceiling must not be partially detached, it can be freed from the clips and damaged (reason - heavy weight).

Therefore, it is necessary to start dismantling work from the middle part of the walls. If the canvas is fixed with cams, then it must be removed using a spatula with sharp corners wrapped with tape. With the wedge method of fixation, the procedure for dismantling a stretch ceiling from fabric does not differ from removing PVC sheets.

Is it possible to remove the fabric stretch ceiling on your own, without an assistant? Practice shows that such work, despite the fact that in this case a heat gun is not used, is best done by at least two people (this is due to the large weight of the ceiling).

So, that's all we wanted to talk about how to remove the stretch ceiling. As you can see, dismantling can be done even without being a professional. The main thing is to adhere to the recommendations presented, not to rush, and also to resolve the issue with the tools, even before the start of the dismantling of suspended ceilings.

There can be many reasons for removing a stretch ceiling. This is a banal damage to the canvas, and the need to lay additional communications in the overhead space, and repair the wiring, and a lot of other reasons that entail the removal of the structure. In fact, there is nothing terrible and difficult in this event, however, if you don’t know how to remove the stretch ceiling and don’t want to know, then it’s better not to take on such work yourself, especially if it is important for you to maintain the integrity of the canvas. Well, the daredevils will be able to carry out the venture themselves, and it will not take much time.

During the installation of stretch ceilings, craftsmen use a special profile that is attached to the wall and, in fact, is a support for fabric or vinyl. There are two types of such profiles, or as they are also called mortgages: the first allows you to remove the panel without any problems, and after carrying out the necessary work in the overhead space, return it to its original place, and the second one was given a speaking nickname - one-time, which is understandable in principle , because it is simply impossible to remove a stretch ceiling from such a profile without damage.

High-quality aluminum profile for fastening stretch ceilings is the key to successful dismantling

Why all this? And besides, during the installation of a stretch ceiling, ask the masters what type of profiles they use, so that later you will not be excruciatingly hurt for your own hindsight. You may even be offered to choose the type of mortgages yourself - feel free to take the one that is more expensive, you definitely won’t lose.

Stretch ceiling technology

To better understand how to remove a stretch ceiling - a video that can be found on the Internet on this topic will help you, but a more detailed description of the technology right now.

You need to start the process of removing the canvas from what the masters finished its installation, namely, from the “withdrawal” of the decorative rubberized insert, which is located exactly between the wall and the ceiling. It is not difficult to remove it, the main thing is to find the place where two adjacent halves are connected to each other. And this place is usually safely hidden from view. If the ceiling has a rectilinear configuration, then look for joints in the corners of the room, and if the ceiling structure is abundantly “strewn” with niches and other architectural elements, then you will have to look for joints, however, it will be very easy to do from a close distance.

First step: carefully remove the decorative insert

Having got rid of the decorative insert and tidying it up for the time being, proceed to warm up the room and the canvas with a gas gun. This step is mandatory! You should not remove the stretch ceiling without warming it up - it will simply tear and become unsuitable for further use.

We heat the canvas in the area to be removed with a gas gun: this is a mandatory step

Choose for yourself a specific section of the ceiling from which you will begin dismantling and warm it up thoroughly. Rectangular ceiling structures are best removed from the corner, and curvilinear ones no matter where, however, it will still be more convenient to start from the place where you can easily hook the edge of the film. To determine this place, take a stepladder and examine the perimeter of the structure for protruding edges that you can “grab” with pliers. If there are no such areas, start from the same angle.

The next step will require jewelry precision from you, because you will have to carefully remove the canvas from the profile so that not a single “scratch” remains on it. Do not make sudden movements and do not remove the stretch ceiling in places where it has not yet warmed up. As you move towards the final goal, move the gas gun, and even better, if your assistant does it.

Fabric stretch ceilings have a slightly different mounting system than vinyl ones. They are attached to the profile with the help of glazing beads, which are rather difficult to remove after they are “drowned”, but if you do not rush and do not pull the canvas in different directions in the hope of completing the dismantling of the ceiling faster, then you will succeed. The main thing is not to damage either the canvas or the glazing beads - they will still be useful to you.

A little secret from a big connoisseur

To remove the stretch ceiling, you will use pliers, but due to their "sharpness" they can easily damage the canvas. Experienced craftsmen have come up with a trick that allows them to use pliers without fear of scratching or tearing the film.

The outer corners of the pliers need to be sharpened to perfect smoothness, and so that the sharp edges do not cause “problems”, round them off and polish them thoroughly.

Dismantling - the opposite of installation: video

Those who carefully removed the canvas and fasteners probably intended to reuse the ceiling structure. They should remember about the installation technology by watching the video clip. Well, if it was decided to remove the stretch ceiling only for the purpose of storing an expensive relic, the video guide will tell you the reverse sequence of work:

The question of whether it is possible to remove the stretch ceiling is now not relevant for you, because you know what is possible and even know how to do it. And if the hands grow from the right place, then the dismantling of the canvas will go smoothly and without problems.

Many owners of stretch ceilings are concerned about the question of how to remove the stretch ceiling with their own hands and at the same time maintain the integrity of the canvas, because even a few millimeters of a damaged coating will make its further use impossible. The need to dismantle the ceiling may arise for several reasons:

  1. Flooding by neighbors from above and subsequent repairs.
  2. Dismantling the canvas to replace it with other ceiling coverings.

To understand how to remove a stretch ceiling, you need to know exactly how it was installed, because there are several ways to fix the ceiling. This is what our actions depend on.

How to remove a stretch ceiling?

Types of fastening stretch ceiling

Before removing the stretch ceiling, carefully examine the place where the canvas is attached to the wall. Currently, there are several installation methods:

  • harpoon method;
  • cam mount;
  • wedge mounting system.

Perhaps you have a contract with the contractor for the installation of the ceiling at home. This contract must specify the type of web fastening. If the documents are not preserved, it remains to independently figure out which fastener is used and choose the method of dismantling. To do this, it is better to use our tips.

But you don’t need to draw conclusions from one mount on how to remove it, because the material of the stretch ceiling itself is no less important in this matter. If you have a pvc film sheet, then its dismantling, as well as installation, is carried out exclusively using a heat gun. Cloths on a fabric basis can be dismantled without a warming up.

Harpoon mounting method

The picture below shows the principle by which the harpoon fastening of the canvas is performed. Based on this, we will decide how to remove the stretch ceiling.

Harpoon mounting

Externally, the harpoon connection looks like a hook-shaped edging. It is this hook that is called a harpoon. Also, before removing the stretch ceiling, remember that the harpoon connection is the most popular type of fastener, so there is a high probability that it was he who was used in your home. In this case, it will be very easy to remove the stretch ceiling yourself without damaging it.

The principle of harpoon fastening: a special edge of the canvas (harpoon) is inserted into a groove on the wall baguette. Then the junction is closed with a plastic insert. Harpoon soldering along the edge of the panel is carried out at the factory after cutting the fabric according to the measurements of your premises.

Cam connection

To understand how to remove a stretch ceiling with a cam mount, you need to understand the principle of connecting the canvas with the profile. This is clearly visible in the photo below.

Cam connection

Mounting principle: in this case, the wall baguette has a self-clamping mechanism. During installation, the canvas is inserted deep into the groove of the structure and stretched a little. As a result of this, the cam on the edge of the web moves into the groove and fixes the PVC film.

Mounting with a wedge connection

You should not have a question about how to remove a stretch ceiling with a wedge lock, since everything is simple here.

wedge fastener

Fastening features: a special baguette is attached to the wall. A canvas is inserted into the extreme slot and fixed with a wedge. Then the baguette and the gap are closed with a decorative profile. This profile additionally fixes stretch ceilings.

Preparation for dismantling

Before removing, you need to prepare all the necessary tools for dismantling. So stock up:

  • medium-sized plastic spatula (if there is a metal one, you can take it);
  • with a knife;
  • thin nose pliers;
  • gloves
  • scaffolding (table or stepmyanka);
  • electric or gas heat gun (for pvc sheets);
  • special clothespins for fixing the film to baguettes (if dismantling is done alone).

Heat gun for installation and dismantling of PVC ceilings

Tips: If you don't have a plastic spatula, you can use a metal one. In this case, the sharp edge of the spatula is ground down and wrapped with tape to avoid damaging the ceiling. When using an electric gun, try to choose reliable wiring.

How to remove a stretch ceiling: a sequence of actions

Now consider in detail how to remove the stretch ceiling. The dismantling process is carried out in the following order:

  1. We prepare the room: it is necessary to take out all the furniture and remove any decorations from the walls.
  2. To protect the windows from heating, cover them with a thick cloth.
  3. We remove all decorative profiles and overlays from the ceiling.
  4. If the ceiling is dismantled from pvc film, we prepare a heat gun.
  5. We heat the heat gun to the desired temperature.
  6. Removing the canvas:
  • when using a harpoon mount, remove the plastic insert and use round-nose pliers to grab the harpoon on the canvas in any corner of the room. Please note: with round-nose pliers we take exactly the harpoon, and not the film, which is so easy to damage. We release the rest of the canvas from the baguette with gloved hands;
  • with cam fasteners we do the same;
  • with a wedge connection, first remove the plastic profile, and then remove the wedge from the groove and pull the web with a spatula or round-nose pliers.

How to remove a stretch ceiling using a heat gun

Removing the fabric ceiling

To understand how to remove a fabric stretch ceiling, it is worth looking at the instructions above. The sequence of actions will be the same with the only difference that the work is carried out without a heat gun, and we are dismantling not from the corners to the center, as was the case above, but from the center to the corners. During removal, make sure that the canvas is not damaged.

Dismantling PVC ceiling lead from the corner

You can learn more about how to remove a stretch ceiling from the proposed video:

Now you know how to remove the stretch ceiling with your own hands so that the canvas is not damaged. We hope that we have answered all your questions, and you will be able to make a choice in favor of the correct method of dismantling.

Sometimes it becomes necessary to dismantle the stretch ceiling with your own hands in order to repair the utilities hidden behind it, or the ceiling structure itself. Let's see how this can be done.

In order to competently carry out the removal of the ceiling tension structure, you need to clearly define its type. Such information is always contained in the documents of the company that installed the ceiling in your home. If you don't have these papers, it's okay. You can find out the type of construction yourself.

Now ceilings of two types are mounted:

  • Made from PVC film. They are mounted according to a technology that involves heating the material with the help of special equipment up to 700 ° C.
  • From fabric - seamless. Installation of these is carried out without heating the canvas.

PVC ceiling installation

PVC structures are always removed towards the middle of the wall surface, starting from the corners. But seamless canvases are dismantled vice versa - from the center to the corners. This is the first point to remember if you want to dismantle the stretch ceiling with your own hands. In addition, you need to find out what fasteners were used when installing the ceiling structure. If the installation was carried out using a wedge or bead method, it is very difficult to remove such a ceiling yourself. Specialists call such types of fasteners disposable.

To remove the canvas, you will need to knock out a glazing bead or wedge (it is unrealistic to do this without damaging the material). This fastener is rarely used. Only when the ceilings are mounted in low rooms (their installation requires a minimum distance of 1.8–2 cm from the floor slabs), and also when the customer decides to save on better and more modern fixtures.

The other two methods of fastening - harpoon and clip - allow you to remove the ceiling structure without serious difficulties. The first is used exclusively for PVC products, the second - for fabrics. We will talk about how to dismantle structures with similar fastening systems.

To dismantle the structure, you should take the following tools:

  • pliers (their lips should be elongated);
  • a not very wide spatula for plastering (it is advisable to sharpen its corners well with sandpaper or a grinder, and then wrap reinforced tape on the surface of the tool to reduce the risk of damage to the stretch fabric);
  • fitter's knife;
  • a screwdriver with a curved end;
  • electric or gas gun for heating the ceiling material;
  • ladder.

Let's get to work. We free the room from unnecessary objects and things, close the window openings with a cloth (to protect them from excessive heating), heat the room with a cannon. If you are dismantling a ceiling with harpoon mounts, you need to:

  1. Remove the insert (decorative) from the structure (do not forget that the work is carried out from the corners).
  2. Pull out the PVC sheet by the harpoon using pliers. Important! You do not need to capture the ceiling material itself, but the harpoon. Otherwise, there is a high probability of damage to the material.
  3. When part of the PVC product is released, put on work gloves and remove all material with your hands.

Dismantling the PVC ceiling

Structures with wedge or bead fasteners are dismantled in a similar way. But you will need to additionally bend the aluminum profile with a spatula, otherwise you will not be able to release the glazing bead (wedge). The fastener is pulled out very carefully with a screwdriver, the end of which is made in a curved shape.

After dismantling the PVC sheet, produce the necessary. And then install the structure again, performing all the steps described in reverse order. If you have some skill and skills in the field of home repair, the whole process will not take you too much time.

Seamless fabrics are dismantled in much the same way as PVC. But in this case, everything is much simpler, because there is no need to heat the room to a high temperature. We remind you! Seamless structures are removed from the middle of the surface to the corners of the room.

You should not have any special problems with dismantling. The main thing is to do all the work slowly and as carefully as possible. But the success of reinstalling the ceiling depends on whether the installers left 2-3 extra centimeters along the edges of the canvas:

  • if there is such a supply, you will stretch the fabric relatively easily;
  • if the material was cut end-to-end during installation, it will not be possible to stretch the material well.

Removing the fabric ceiling

The next important point concerns seamless ceilings with clip-on baguettes. Such fasteners do not allow dismantling the structure only partially. You will have to remove the entire ceiling (other fasteners make it possible to dismantle a certain part of the structure).

Important! When dismantling only part of the web, the material is guaranteed to jump out of the clip fastening. And then you will need to change the entire structure.

Now you know how to remove a stretch PVC or fabric ceiling. But you should not translate your knowledge into reality if the canvas simply sagged under the mass of water that fell on it from the neighbors' apartment from above (or through a holey roof). In such situations, you can do without the complete and even partial dismantling of the structure.

If you are flooded, follow the following simple sequence of actions:

  1. Disconnect your home from electricity (turn off the machines on the shield).
  2. Remove the chandelier that is on the ceiling (or spotlights, if they are installed). There is always a hole under the light fixture. It is cut out during the installation of fixtures.
  3. Drain the water through the indicated hole.

Sagging ceiling sheet

Note that draining water alone cannot be done. One person must necessarily lift the ceiling sheet from below, thereby rolling the liquid on it, and the second must stand under the hole with some kind of container. The drained water gets into it.

After removing the liquid in the manner described, the canvas on its inside will remain wet. It's OK. Leave the stretch ceiling alone. After a while, the material will dry. Small wrinkles will appear on it at first. But they will quickly disappear once the fabric or PVC film is completely dry.
